Normal horses naturally come in a variety of earth tones, with a single hoof on each foot, and bodies covered with fur and mane and tail made of long hair.

Physical characteristics such as cloven hooves, horns, wings, feathers in place of hair, lion tails, and such are locked to their respective species. A unicorn cannot be born with wings, nor an earth pony born with feathery mane.

Color, however, has been spread from ancestral pegasus hybridization to every species of horse in the world. Bright hues pass down from parent to child as easily as long legs or curly mane. Behind the scenes, genes to conceive a foal that is a member of another species are carried through many ponies' lineage; you can never tell when they will manifest.

The one constant is that a foal will be born as either an earth pony, unicorn, or pegasus. Something with multiple traits would be... a different creature entirely.

While learning to control his powers under the guidance of Clockwork, Danny accidentally curses his own bloodline with the Curse of Sentient Food several centuries in the past. Originally, a witch was supposed to curse his family. Oops. Well, the Fentons were always adapting, and technically, either way, he'd end up battling dino nuggets at three am in his underwear, no matter who the curse came from. So he shrugged and continued on.

Unfortunately, this also means that out of nowhere, the timeline shifted, and some of his very distant relatives are now battling their food into submission at every meal because Danny is ultimately way more powerful than some mortal witch from the 1600s. His version of the curse reached literally everyone he could ever be related to for the last few centuries. Even if they were adopted into the family!

So, returning to the present time after training, Danny is a little startled to see some news clips of people's dinners coming to life and beginning revolutions. Wow, John Fentonightingale really got around, didn't he? He felt a little uncomfortable that now all these random people had to deal with their share of Fenton luck, but from some of the interviews, everyone seemed to be handling it pretty well!

Especially his so-distant-they're-on-another-tree cousins, the Kents, who contacted his family directly, asking how best to prepare a zombie turkey. Their son was coming for Thanksgiving with his new wife and some coworkers, and they just refused to make the guests fight for their lives on a holiday!

They invited the Fentons to join them, of course.

Here's a little something I drew to celebrate this momentous occasion 😊. I didn't even realize what a special day today was until I checked IG and saw the Stouds' posts and a few others celebrating. My mind immediately went into hyperdrive so not only did I draw this but also a few dozen little ghosties that I hope to transform into stickers someday soon. How did you celebrate our dear Lockwood and Co.'s birthday?

Anyway now seems as good a time as any to tell the story of how, one year around Christmas, I was in my grandmother’s basement looking at the boxes of old shit everywhere, and my mom went, “Hey, have I ever shown you the family cake board?”

Which, like: fascinating, because it’s not like my family has a history of baking beyond for birthdays or whatever. So I’m imagining it’s just a sheet pan or something, wondering why she’s making a big deal out of this.

This. This was the Family Cake Board. In my extremely Irish-Italian Catholic grandmother’s home.

I watched season 3 and rewatched season 1 and 2 of the umbrella academy and what I can gather is:

Five (season 1): Denial, anger

Five (season 2): Bargaining

Five (season 3): Depression, acceptance

It's nice to see that Melinda seems to dislike war and be a genuinely good person. I think it's possible that she herself may resent her husband for being so central to the war. Perhaps that explains her complicated relationship with Damian; of course she loves him because he is her son, but she is afraid he will grow up to be like his father. ESPECIALLY because he's taken an interest in politics.
