Bouncing Beans

It was a clam morning, the sky was clear, and the birds were chirping happily through the trees. Meanwhile the ninjas were getting ready for their early training session, much to their tiredness. They all seemed to be waiting on someone. "Hey, where's Malak?" Kai inquiried, as he prepared to training dummy. Zane looked around in thought, "He is most likely still asleep, as I did not see them come out of his room this morning." He explains calmly, in his usual matter-of-fact tone.

Cole, the ever observant one spoke up, "Want me to wake him up?" He offered, as Lloyd shook his head. "Nah, he'll wake up soon enough, let's just start without them. It'll be fine." Lloyd insisted, as Cole and Jay glanced at each other, but both merely shrugged.

Meanwhile, Malak was just waking up, his eyes glossy and still foggy from sleep. "Ugh...mm." Malak yawned, stretched out of bed, and began preparing for the day, humming to himself. "Hmm~ Hmm~" he brushed their hair, before tying it up into their iconic ponytail, he flicked it behind his head, and winked at themselves in the mirror playfully. "Let's go kick their butts!~" he said to himself out loud confidently, joking about them training with the others.

After Malak was done getting ready, he headed outside to train, where the other ninjas were waiting. Lloyd noticed them immediately as Malak stepped outside, "Well, look who's finally awake. Come to actually train, or were you wanting to watch?" Lloyd joked sarcastically, as Malak rolled their eyes, and lightly punched Lloyd's arm. "Ain't no way, am I sitting this one out. I'll be giving you a run for your money, or maybe better yet, a run for your comics!" Malak joked as Lloyd chuckles softly.

"Well then, shall we start with some sparring?" Lloyd suggests as Malak nodded eagerly. "You're on!~" Malak chirped excitedly, as they both got into position on the other side of the courtyard. Malak seemed confident, almost like he knew he was going to "win", even if they were both just training.

"Come on Green Bean! Gimme your best shot!" Lloyd rolled his eyes, he'd gotten used to Malak calling him that for past few weeks, but it was still embarrassing to hear. Despite this, he spun and kicked at Malak, who jumped back and dodged each blow. "Come on Green Bean! I know you can do better than that!" Malak taunted as they continued.

Lloyd playfully glared at Malak, "Seriously, Malak? Can you not call me that in the middle of training?" Malak grinned, twirling a ninja star between their fingers, "But it's funny! You're the Green Ninja, and...well, you know the rest." Lloyd sighed, "Come on, I’m trying to focus here!"

Malak leaned on a training dummy, "Focused and funny! It’s a winning combo!" He joked, seemingly not understanding that Lloyd was trying to be serious. Lloyd groaned, "Not when you're constantly calling me "Green Bean." It's starting to really get on my nerves."

Malak smiles teasingly, "Oh, but it's such a fantastic nickname! It suits you perfectly. A little green bean, full of energy and...well, green." Lloyd sighs dramatically, "You’re supposed to be focused on training, not making veggie puns!"

Malak chuckles, "Now, now, no need to be so harsh. What about my amazing baking skills? Maybe I'll make you a special bean-shaped cookie~" Lloyd scoffs, "And call it "The Green Bean"?" Malak grinned wider, putting an arm around Lloyd, "You know it!~" he sang in a cheerful tone.

Lloyd scoffed, "I'm not a bean. And if you don't stop, I swear I'll come up with some awful nickname for you." Malak raised an eyebrow, "Oh yeah? What kind of nickname?" He suddenly put on a fake mockingly scared tone, "Ooh, I’m scared!~ What are you going to call me? “Fuzzy Peach”? No no, "Pinky Strawberry"!~ Ooh, so scary~" He joked, sticking out their tongue teasingly.

Lloyd chuckles, "No, no. Something a bit more… punchy." Lloyd muttered as he thought for an moment. Then suddenly, Lloyd gasped softly, and smirked playfully at Malak. "I think I know just the nickname to call you." Lloyd said cryptic ally. Malak smiled curiously and tilted his head "Oooh, Really?~ And what's that?" He asked mockingly as Lloyd smiled wider as he pointed at them.

"You're ...Jellybean!" Lloyd declared, almost sounding victorious, as he'd just won a competition. Was he trying go one-up Malak's nickname idea? Malak paused, his eyes wide, as they stared at Lloyd for a moment, and then he started laughing, "You're kidding! 'Jellybean'? That's hilarious!"

Lloyd was confused, he'd expected Malak to get defensive or even mad, but he was laughing? "Wait, you're not...upset?" Lloyd asked in surprise, as Malak wiped their eyes from the tears of laughter. Malak smiled, "Upset? No! It's perfect! It's like...we're a pair of bouncing beans!~"

Lloyd was really caught off guard, "Wait, you...You actually like it? You're not even offended?" Malak nodded happily, grinning widely, "Not at all! I mean, of course I’m the Jellybean! I’m obviously the sweet one. And you’re just, well, you’re still the Green Bean." Lloyd sighed softly, facepalming, "This is ridiculous." He mumbled.

Malak mocked in a serious tone, "Oh come on, be proud of it! "Green Bean and Jellybean." The ultimate crime-fighting duo!"

Lloyd shakes his head, but can't help but smile, "You're weird, you know that?" Malak just shrugs, "Weird is good! And normal is boring! I think we both know that already~" Malak joked as Lloyd smiled softly at them.

Malak smiled, "You know what they'll say! Jellybean and Green Bean, the best ninja duo, fighting for Ninjago!" He chirped playfully, holding his fist in the air proudly. Lloyd couldn't help but smile in return, feeling his chest beating with happiness, almost like Malak's joy was infectious. Lloyd chuckled, "We’re gonna be the most ridiculous duo ever. But I kind of like it." Malak grinned widely, "Me too! Plus, it’ll confuse the bad guys. “Look out for the bouncing beans!”

Lloyd laughs, "I can see their confusion already. “What are they, vegetables?” Malak nods sincerely, "Exactly! And they won’t know how to take us down." Lloyd smiled in uncertainty, "Just promise me one thing." Malak nodded, "Anything!" Lloyd rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, "Let's keep this between us, okay? I don’t want the others thinking we’re…-" "-being ridiculous?" Malak interrupted, "Come on, we’re ninjas! We're practically always ridiculous! I mean, is anything we've ever done normal?"

Lloyd laughs while shaking his head, "Fair point." He muttered in agreement. Malak playfully smirked, "Now, what’s next? Should we train our bouncing techniques?~" Lloyd raises an eyebrow, "Bouncing techniques?"

"Yeah! You know, so we can dodge attacks by bouncing around like beans!" Malak said excitedly, as Lloyd shakes his head once more, still chuckling, "Only you would come up with something like that, Malak." Malak grinned, "Only for my favorite Green Bean!~"

Lloyd smirked and winked at Malak jokingly, bouncing on top of a wooden plank nearby, "Alright, now let’s see if you can dodge this next round, Jellybean!" Malak was determined, and smiled widely, bouncing on top of a pole that was holding a punching bag, "Bring it on, Green Bean!" He declared confidently, as Lloyd laughed.

They both laugh as they continued their sparring, a brotherly connection strengthened by their playful calling each other their newfound nicknames throughout, much to the amusement and confusion of the other ninjas watching from afar.

The day fades out, as Lloyd and Malak playfully sparred, and bounced around the courtyard. Their unique bond evident in their shared laughter and silly nicknames. The rest of the ninja watch on, a mixture of confusion and affection in their expressions.

I'VE BEEN WANTING TO INTRODUCE HIM TO YOU FOR SO LONG

He's the main antagonist Future of the Past, a bandit leader nicknamed Scavenger. Right now I'm planning to make some changes to the clothing, but the final one should be something similar to the current one (I might just do a red cape to match the dragon’s flag).

I named this character Scavenger because of his character: he is cruel, greedy and a skillful manipulator, looking for prey in everything and disregarding others. He has many murders and robberies behind him, which he decides to do in a split second. He will put up with a man well as long as he obeys him. Using the people of the Valley of Mountain Lights as an example: he occupied the valley 16 years ago before the events of FotP, this led to casualties and looting (and he was the one who killed Kim, Agatha's childhood friend), then intimidated the people and made a small compromise: people would periodically give up items and food in return for the Scavenger not touching them, but created boundaries and his own rules around the village. Also, if you read Leo's backstory, it was the Scavenger who trapped him, and to this day, because of the scar on his paw, the enemy knows Leo is his trophy. The fact that he doesn't touch Leo is a goodwill gesture to Agatha for once killed her friend. In fact, he gave Agatha Leo as a gift, but he has no trouble taking the gift away….

He will keep the ninjas captive for the first season, using them for his own purposes. I also previously talked about the conflict between him and Lloyd. The Scavenger will manipulate Lloyd, who, under his influence, will help to get the last key to Death. And you may notice a scar on the Scavenger's face, in the same place as Lloyd's. I won't reveal the plot of one of my favorite parts of the novel, but it's the Scavenger who will give him the scar. Lloyd, Agatha and Leo will be the first to go up against his regime, but even Agatha would have given up if she hadn't found the ninja, Lloyd won't stop opposing him and so there will be a tense conflict between him and the Scavenger in which the enemy will try to break Lloyd's already faltering spirit throughout the season.
