vampires in Merlin fics are underrated. like let’s get into sorcerer Merlin and vampire arthur who are both immortal and living perfectly average modern lives: Merlin just reverted his appearance back to his 20s to go back to uni cause he got bored and needed a new start and arthur is burnt out and tired of moving, stuck looking like he’s 26 for the next century and currently saying he’s 30. Arthur throws up an ad for a roommate — hell, he’s lonely, has to move soon anyways, and his last roommate couldn’t stand him being up at all hours of the night — and Merlin finds it. unfortunately for these idiots, they are insanely attracted to each other but are hesitant to give in. See, both only allow themselves an occasional hookup with older adults (or other vampires) cause it feels weird to be that old and going for people in their 20s even if they are adults, so they are 95% sure the other is off limits for at least a few more years no matter how positively insane they are for each other. It isn’t until Merlin catches arthur sipping on one too many mysteriously viscous red liquids that he realizes something’s up, cause his roommates 100% night owl behavior wasn’t quite enough for it to click. Cue a very desperate union and maybe a delicious side of vampire familial drama.
