Lets Talk Palestine (Instagram channel)
February 24, 2024
• 92 Palestinians killed, 121 injured in Gaza in past 24 hours
• Mass anti-government protests across Tel Aviv as Israeli’s have grown impatient to lack of a hostage deal and are calling for an election to see Netanyahu leave, showing mounting disdain for the government. Police have arrested 21 people and reports show the use of water cannons to disperse protestors
• Israeli air raid hits home housing displaced Palestinians in Rafah, killing 7 incl. 1 child
• Gaza ceasefire talks in Paris seems to be the most serious push in weeks; Israel’s war cabinet will convene to vote on the proposed outline & framework, indicating that something “tangible” was produced, especially as Israeli negotiators will be sent to to Qatar to continue talks. This doesn’t mean a ceasefire is close or that Israel has halted its plan to invade Rafah — these talks are unpredictable & subject to change
• Armed Israeli settlers assault 2 Palestinians at a make-shift checkpoint in Hebron (West Bank)
-
February 25, 2024
• 86 Palestinians killed, 142 injured in Gaza in past 24 hours
• Palestinians in northern Gaza are being starved as they’ve been cut off from aid as Israel’s relentless bombardment has prevented aid transport from southern Gaza; UNRWA hasn’t delivered any aid since Jan 23. Kamal Adwan Hospital (north) reports increased malnutrition: 1 in 6 kids are “severely malnourished” + hospitals struggling due to lack of fuel, medicine & ambulances
👆 Almost all aid in Gaza goes through Rafah crossing (Egypt) in the south but in recent weeks it has been almost totally halted, dropping from 200 trucks/day to 57, some days less than 20. 2,000+ trucks with enough to feed the entire population have piled up outside the crossing, prevented from entering by Israel. Meanwhile, Israelis have been protesting for weeks at Karem Abu Salem crossing, blocking aid trucks
• Netanyahu affirms Rafah ground invasion, saying a hostage deal would only somewhat delay the invasion

US airdrops food into Gaza in move criticised by aid groups
US plan has been criticised as inefficient while Israel continues blocking most aid trucks from entering Gaza by land.
(2 Mar 2024)
United States military cargo planes have air-dropped food into Gaza, in the first of series of aid drops as humanitarian groups criticise Israel for blocking access to the besieged and bombarded strip.
The US, together with Jordan’s air force, “conducted a combined humanitarian assistance airdrop into Gaza … to provide essential relief to civilians affected by the ongoing conflict”, US Central Command said in a statement on Saturday.
The C-130 planes “dropped over 38,000 meals along the coastline of Gaza allowing for civilian access to the critical aid”, it added, as the enclave faces a humanitarian crisis after almost five months of war.
US President Joe Biden had announced a day earlier that the US would airdrop aid there after more than 100 Palestinians were killed on Thursday in northern Gaza while queuing for aid.
US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said on Friday that the US will carry out multiple airdrops in the next few weeks, which will be coordinated with Jordan.
Kirby said the airdrops have an advantage over trucks because planes can move aid to a particular area quickly. However, in terms of volume, the airdrops will be “a supplement to, not a replacement for moving things in by ground”, he added.
The Biden administration is also considering shipping aid by sea from Cyprus, according to a US official.
Since Israel’s war began on October 7 following Hamas’s attack, Israel has barred the entry of food, water, medicine and other supplies, except for a tiny trickle of aid entering the south from Egypt at the Rafah crossing and Israel’s Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) crossing.
‘The US is weak’
The US’s move has been criticised as inefficient and simply a public relations move by members of international aid organisations.
“The airdrops are symbolic and designed in ways to appease the domestic base,” Dave Harden, former USAID director to the West Bank, told Al Jazeera. “Really what needs to happen is more crossings [opening] and more trucks going in every day.”
“I think the United States is weak and that’s really disappointing to me,” Harden added. “The US has the ability to compel Israel to open up more aid and by not doing that we’re putting our assets and our people at risks and potentially creating more chaos in Gaza.”
UK-based charity Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) echoed Harden’s statement, telling Al Jazeera in a statement that the US, the UK and others should instead work to “ensure that Israel immediately opens all crossings into Gaza for aid.”
Oxfam also blasted the Biden administration’s plans, labelling the effort an attempt to assuage the guilty consciences of US officials.
“While Palestinians in Gaza have been pushed to the absolute brink, dropping a paltry, symbolic amount of aid into Gaza with no plan for its safe distribution would not help and be deeply degrading to Palestinians,” Scott Paul, who leads Oxfam’s US government advocacy work, said in a statement on X.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry also criticised the US for acting as a “weak, marginal state” unable to secure aid to Palestinians.
US Senator Bernie Sanders, however, welcomed the US’s move.
“I applaud President Biden for understanding that there is a dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza,” Sanders said on X.
Mahjoob Zweiri, the director of the Gulf Study Centre in Doha, told Al Jazeera the international community is not putting enough pressure on Israel to allow the waiting aid trucks to enter Gaza by land.
“Why not send food in through Karem Abu Salem?” Zweiri said. “There are 2,000 trucks waiting to get into Gaza” at border crossings, he said, while food and medicines pile up for months past their expiry dates.
“Why isn’t the international community not putting enough effort into delivering aid in an organised manner?” he asked.

"The al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced on Thursday that its fighters conducted a top-tier operation 'behind enemy lines' as the Israeli genocide in Gaza nears its ninth consecutive month. The group revealed that its fighters managed to breach the Israeli 'fence' separating Rafah from Israeli settlements in the southern Gaza Strip and attack the Israeli headquarters of the division responsible for the invasion of the city."
"Israeli Army Radio revealed on Thursday morning what it described as a 'serious security incident' on the Gaza Strip border. Al-Qassam Brigades later revealed that the Resistance fighters carried out an operation and successfully breached the Karem Abu Salem crossing, attacking the headquarters of the Israeli division operating in Rafah. Before al-Qassam released its statement, the Israeli radio's military correspondent confirmed reports of armed men successfully breaching the crossing located in the Rafah area, south of the Gaza Strip, and advancing toward the occupied Palestinian territories surrounding the Gaza Strip."

Israel is STARVING Palestinians in Gaza just like Nazi Germany
Tumblr media
Displaced Palestinians in central and southern Gaza have less than a week's worth of food left, after Israel seized the Rafah border crossing last week.
On 6 May, the Israeli military took "operational control" of the Palestinian side of the crossing between southern Gaza and Egypt, essentially cutting off aid into the coastal enclave.
Since then, just six trucks of food have entered Gaza through the Karem Abu Salem crossing with Israel, Juliette Touma, spokesperson for the United Nations' Palestinian refugee agency (Unrwa), told Middle East Eye.
With so little coming in, food supplies are dwindling and prices soaring. Palestinians have been forced to leave Rafah, and head a few kilometres north to Khan Younis or further on to Deir al-Balah.
Both are still being bombarded by Israel, and are unable to cope with the huge influx of refugees. Goods have disappeared from the markets. Potatoes and other vegetables have not been available for a week. "A few vegetables, such as tomatoes, onions, cucumbers and garlic, are all that's left," Eman Mhmd, a maths teacher in Deir al-Balah, told MEE.
"There's no chicken, no eggs, no tissues." Ahmed Abu Aziz, a Palestinian journalist in Khan Younis, said that one kilogram of sugar, which used to cost 12-13 shekels ($3.20), is now priced at 95 shekels ($25.50). He said that fresh water had become "very rare and very expensive".
Agriculture accounted for nearly half of Gaza's total land area before the war, according to Unosat, the United Nations' satellite centre. 45% of that land has now been damaged.
On Friday, Matthew Hollingworth, the WFP's Palestine country director, said that the organisation's main warehouse was "now inaccessible".
On Sunday, the Sinai for Human Rights group reported that the closure of the border crossings had led to "large quantities of food" going bad.
Meanwhile, Israelis have been filmed destroying aid at the crossings in recent days, while the Israeli navy has been seen firing on fishing boats off the Gaza coast.
In this landscape, displaced Palestinians wait, while the borders stay shut.

PALESTINE UPDATES 🇵🇸
Rafah is under attack by the IOF
Summary
Israel is now in full control of every border crossing into Gaza. They have cut off access to two of the most essential, Rafah and Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom). Aid groups say Rafah's closure is especially devastating. The closure of the crossing since Sunday is having catastrophic impacts on everyone in Gaza.
Since October this has been the main point of entry for goods/aid coming into Gaza. Equally importantly, Rafah and Kerem Shalom are the only entry points for fuel in Gaza. Without fuel there's no ability for the trucks to move around. There's no ability for desalination plants to operate and provide safe water. There's no electricity.
Israeli military control of the Rafah checkpoint means it can decide fully which goods/aid can get in, and who can get out. Aid trucks are now stuck on the Egyptian side of the border. If we continue to see what we're seeing, it will lead to an even more catastrophic situation.
Alexandra Saieh Save the Children "We will likely see an acceleration in the rate of starvation. Even more people will die of malnutrition, dehydration and disease and a lack of medical assistance."
Israel is also moving forward with an assault/attack on other parts of Rafah, and has ordered about 100,000 people to leave the area. Fears are growing that an even larger operation is coming.
Alexandra Saieh Save the Children "There are hundreds of children who are maimed, who have lost one or more of their limbs. Many children who are malnourished. They're suffering from chronic illnesses. These people cannot flee by foot to another area."
It's seven months today Al Jeezera is marking of this horrific conflict.

The identity of the man leading Israeli protesters to block aid trucks coming into Gaza, has been revealed.
His name is Andy Green. He's an American and a suspect in the 1985 assassination of Palestinian-American activist, Alexander Odeh.
Subtitles aren't the best so I've transcribed the video:
[It turns out that the guy leading Israeli protesters to block humanitarian aid into Gaza is an American.
The story goes that Andy Green fled to Israel because he's suspected of murdering a major Palestinian-American figure named Alexander Odeh.
Alexander Odeh was a Palestinian activist and the West Coast regional director of the American Arab Anti Discrimination Committee. He was assassinsted in a bombing in 1985.
Israeli Frey, an Israeli journalist who previously went into hiding after his house was attacked by a radical Israeli mob over his solidarity with Palestinians just exposed Andys identity.
A couple of days ago, Frey posted that one of the groups organising protesters to block humanitarian aid trucks, published an appeal for donations.
And the address in the register of associations is the same office of Andy Green. In the late 80's, Green was widely reported as a suspect in Odeh's assassination.
Instead of being held accountable, he moved to Israel, changed his name to Baroh Ben Yosef, became a lawyer and is now publically involved in Israel's thriving extremist political movements.
In fact it seems as though he's spearheading racist anti Palestinians actions as we speak. Since late January, Israeli protesters have been stopping aid trucks at the Karem Abu Salem crossing between Israel and Egypt.
As Gaza faces a famine.
A growing number of Palestinians especially children have died of starvation. ABC National Executive Director Abed Ayoub says:.
"The involvement of a suspect in the assassination of Alex Odeh in current events, particularly in actions in actions that hinder humanitarian aid, is a stark reminder of the unresolved injustices faced by the Arab American community.
We call upon the Department of Justice to intensify its investigation into Green and end the impunity that let's him continue his commitment to anti Palestinian terror."
My question is, why hasn't Biden or any other President ever extradited this suspected terrorist. If we want to get aid into Gaza, then Andy Green should be bought to justice right now.
End transcript.]

🚨 RAFAH MASSACRE 🚨
A couple of hours ago, the Israeli military massacred at least 35 Palestinians, mostly women & children, injuring dozens more causing amputations & severe burns. Death toll likely to rise. Israel targeted tents housing displaced people in designated safe area of northwest Rafah with seven 2,000-pound bombs that engulfed the area in flames, burning people alive. These are Palestinians already displaced, under siege and deprived of water, food, medicine & electricity
Horrifying footage and images have emerged of beheaded children and charred bodies burned beyond recognition. One survivor testified that “the tents are melting and the people’s bodies are also melting”
Gaza’s health systems are on the verge of collapse with limited medical supplies & fuel due to Israel’s aid blockade. Rafah's only operating hospital, Kuwaiti Hospital, has no ICU unit & faces fuel shortage + no fuel for ambulances to transfer the injured to field hospitals
Israel bombed Rafah 60+ times in the last 48 hours since the ICJ ordered it halt its invasion of Rafah. With no bounds to its impunity, Israel has made it clear there's no 'red line' on what horrors it will inflict on Palestinians. Our ruling class has deemed the massacre of Palestinians acceptable.
Israel is burning Palestinians alive.

Israel promised ‘limited’ operation. Two months on, Rafah turned to rubble
The Israeli military invites reporters into Rafah, the first time international media visit the city since it was invaded.

(July 8th 2024)
Israel invaded Rafah on May 6 promising a “limited” operation against Hamas fighters, but two months on, the southern-most city has been turned into a dust-covered ghost town.
The Associated Press photojournalist was among the first foreign journalists allowed into the Palestinian city, which sheltered most of Gaza’s more than two million people displaced by Israel’s devastating war. Israel has barred international journalists from entering Gaza independently.
More than 150 Palestinian journalists, who have been reporting from the ground, have been killed in Israeli attacks, making it one of the deadliest conflicts for journalists.
Abandoned, bullet-ridden apartment buildings have blasted out walls and shattered windows. Bedrooms and kitchens are visible from roads dotted with rubble piles that tower over the Israeli military vehicles passing by. Very few civilians remain.
Israel, which has been accused of disproportionate use of force in Gaza, says it aimed for a complete defeat of Hamas. More than 70 percent of the enclave’s houses have been destroyed in Israeli air and ground offensive since October 7, 2023.
In the last week of May, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Israel to “immediately” halt its military assault on Rafah, which faced a humanitarian crisis due to the blocking of aid. In January, the top UN court had ordered Israel to prevent acts of genocide.
Nearly 40,000 people have been killed, half of them children and women.
Rafah, an area of about 65sq km (25sq miles) bordering Egypt, was considered a safe zone where most Palestinians fleeing from Israeli bombardment took shelter. But Israel invaded the southern city despite international concerns, saying Hamas fighters had moved to the area. It provided no proof for its claims. Israel has repeatedly targeted areas designated as safe zones since the war began nine months ago.
An estimated 1.4 million Palestinians crammed into Rafah after fleeing Israeli bombardment elsewhere in Gaza. The UN estimates that about 50,000 remain in Rafah, which had a pre-war population of about 275,000. Last week, the United Nations said most of Gaza’s 2.4 million people are now displaced.
Most people are clustering in squalid tent camps along the beach with scant access to clean water, food, toilets and medical care.
Efforts to bring aid into southern Gaza have stalled as Israel closed down Rafah, one of two important crossings into the south of Gaza. The UN says little aid can enter from the other main crossing – Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) – because Israeli settlers have attacked aid trucks.
On Wednesday, a line of trucks on the Gaza side of Karem Abu Salem was visible, but the trucks were hardly moving – a sign of how Israel’s pledge to keep the route safe to facilitate the delivery of aid inside Gaza has fallen flat.
UN officials say some commercial trucks have braved the route into Rafah, but not without hired armed guards riding atop their convoys.
Israel says it is close to dismantling the group as an organised military force in Rafah. In a reflection of that confidence, soldiers brought journalists in open-air military vehicles down the road that leads into the heart of the city.
Along the way, debris lying by the side of the road made clear the perils of aid delivery: carcasses of trucks baking in the hot sun; dashboards covered in fencing meant to protect drivers; and aid pallets lying empty.
The longer the aid delivery is frozen, humanitarian groups say, the closer Gaza comes to running out of fuel, which is needed for hospitals, water desalination plants and vehicles. Most of the hospitals have been crippled by repeated Israeli attacks.
“The hospitals are once again short on fuel, risking disruption of critical services,” said Dr Hanan Balkhy, the World Health Organization’s regional director for the Eastern Mediterranean. “Injured people are dying because the ambulance services are facing delays due to fuel shortages.”
As the humanitarian situation worsens, Israel is pushing ahead with its offensive. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reiterated that any potential ceasefire deal should allow Israel to resume its operation in Gaza. The Hamas group wants an end to the war as part of any deal.
After journalists heard nearby gunshots on Wednesday, the soldiers told the group they would not be visiting the beach as planned.
The group departed the city soon after, with clouds of dust kicked up by vehicles temporarily obscuring the mass of destruction behind them.

[Gaza City is a death trap right now, with bodies littering the streets after Israeli Occupation Forces targeted the evacuation of civilians]
🇮🇱🇵🇸🚨 ISRAELI AUTHORITIES RELEASE THOUSANDS OF DETAINED PALESTINIANS INTO THE GAZA STRIP AS ISRAEL'S GENOCIDE CONTINUES
According to reporting, the Israeli Occupation authorities released 7'000 detained Palestinian workers back into the Gaza Strip Friday.
Thousands of Palestinian civilians who work in occupied Palestine with special permits to pass through the Erez Crossing into Israeli territory were detained on October 7th after the Palestinian Resistance launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, breaking through the Gaza border fence and assaulting Israeli settlements lining the Gaza Strip.
At the time, according to the detained Palestinians, they were rounded up by the Israeli Occupation authorities and transferred to the "Ofer" prison, known as the Israeli Incarceration Facility 385 located in the West Bank.
Detained Palestinians said they were held at the incarceration facility for 25 consecutive days as Israel's assault on Gaza raged.
According to the Israeli media agency Galgalatz Radio, the workers were initially transported to Karem Abu Salem commercial crossing before being transferred to Incarceration Facility 385 and a negotiated settlement led to their release Friday.
No word from reports on where the 7'000 Palestinian workers are expected to shelter during the Israeli siege and blockade of the Gaza Strip.
According to the Ministry of Health of Gaza, more than 9'000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza, including 3'760 children and 2'326 women.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, at least 45% of all of Gaza's housing units have been destroyed or damaged in Israeli shelling, with 246 educational facilities damaged, 11 bakeries destroyed, 25 ambulances damaged and another 16 hospitals and 32 healthcare centers out of service.
