Amina is a 28 year old mother of three: Nasser (8), Bara (4) and Adam (2). She’s fundraising in hopes of saving her children from this genocide and getting the money to feed them and give them a safe future. They’ve already been displaced five times and are struggling very badly to find food and water and everything they need to survive, and even when they find it it’s extremely expensive. It’s every parents worst nightmare to see their children suffering but not have the means to give them food and get them to safety. Here in Gaza, it’s 55°F (13°C), and it’s raining heavily. While many people around the world enjoy the winter under warm blankets or with a hot drink, life here is very different.

Families who lost their homes are living in tents that can’t protect them from the cold or the rain. The ground turns to mud, and the wind cuts through the thin fabric. It’s hard to imagine staying warm in these conditions, but for many here, this is their reality.

For families like Islam’s, winter is a season of pain. His family lives in a tent that barely stands against the rain and wind. His mother is fighting cancer, and his grandfather, who is over 85 years old and has a physical disability, suffers greatly in the cold. Last winter was unbearable for them, and this year is starting to feel just as harsh.

Winter here isn’t magical; it’s survival!!

217 Journalists SLAUGHTERED by US-Isareli Holocaust to cover up modern day Auschwitz aka Palestine

As the conflict in Gaza enters its 15th month, more than 45,400 people have been killed and 108,000 injured. The war has been particularly marked by the challenges of reporting from a warzone in effect sealed off to reporters from outside Gaza, where reporting has been impossible at times — and far too often, deadly.

Despite these challenges, Palestinian journalists have continued to report the horrors of the war, serving as the world’s eyes and ears during one of the deadliest conflicts of the 21st century.

From October 7, 2023, to December 25, 2024, at least 217 journalists and media workers had been killed in Gaza. Five more were killed on December 26 when an Israeli air strike targeted a news van near al-Awda Hospital. These most recent killings of journalists underscore the perilous environment in which media professionals are operating in Gaza. Simply put, this has been the worst conflict for journalists — ever.

Rainstorms uprooted and flooded scores of displacement tents in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, worsening the already deteriorating living conditions for many Palestinians as a suffocating Israeli siege continues to bar the entry of makeshift shelters.

At least 100 tents were extensively damaged from the heavy rain overnight in Khan Younis, according to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, Unrwa.

The Palestinian Civil Defence in Gaza, a search-and-rescue group, said they received hundreds of distressed calls from displaced Palestinians asking for help to save their children amid the flooding of tents and shelters.

“We appeal to people of conscience to rush to save these families and help them move to suitable shelters that protect them from rainwater, especially the displaced in the camps in central Gaza City, Mawasi, Khan Yunis, Rafah and western Deir al-Balah,” the civil defence said in an a statement.

According to the Palestinian Government Communication Center, the majority of the 1.9 million displaced in Gaza living in shelters face “life-threatening conditions due to extreme cold and heavy rain”.

“To date, hypothermia has tragically claimed the lives of six newborns and a physician,” the media office said in its latest situation report. Ahmed Abu Mustafa, a Palestinian man who has been displaced since the war started on 7 October 2023, said that the tents, made primarily of nylon, were damaged by the scorching heat during summer, making them less durable for winter and floods.

“When we fled our homes, we didn’t take anything with us thinking that it will only be a few days and we would return,” Abu Mustafa told MEE. “We have no clothes, even for the kids.

Maybe it’s easier on us adults because we can withstand the cold, but for children, it’s incredibly difficult.”

More than 800 infants have been killed by Israel in Gaza before reaching their first birthday, Palestinian media reports have revealed.

Over 180 of those killed were babies born in the besieged enclave after 7 October 2023, amid relentless Israeli bombardment.

Meanwhile, medical sources reported that six infants died due to freezing temperatures in Gaza over the last week.

More than 17,000 children have been killed by Israel in Gaza in the last 15 months, underscoring the catastrophic impact of Israel’s military campaign on Gaza’s most vulnerable.
