In at least 36 indiscriminate Israeli strikes on Palestine's Gaza, women and children were the only fatalities recorded, the United Nations said.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ravina Shamdasani, told reporters that between March 18 and April 9, Israel launched approximately 224 strikes targeting residential buildings and tents that housed displaced people
"In some 36 strikes about which the UN Human Rights Office corroborated information, the fatalities recorded so far were only women and children," she said, warning that the cumulative impact of Israel's onslaught on the enclave threatened "the future viability of Palestinians as a group."
Shamdasani cited an April 6 strike on a residential building in Deir al Balah, belonging to the Abu Issa family, which reportedly killed one girl, four women and a four-year-old boy.
Israel renewed its deadly assault on Gaza on March 18 and has since killed over 1,500 Palestinians and wounded 3,800 others. Women and children make up most of the staggering 50,800 Palestinians killed in over 18 months of war.

Gaza’s government media office has condemned Israel’s ongoing attacks on water infrastructure, which have turned water into a slow-killing weapon by systematically denying Palestinians in Gaza access to clean water and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the enclave.
In a statement, it said Israel’s continued severing of crucial water lines, destruction of wells and water stations, and cutting of electricity and fuel supplies required to operate water and sanitation facilities — in addition to its refusal to let repair teams reach the damaged facilities — was part of “a broader strategy of collective punishment.”

Israel continues to defy international law, most recently by targeting al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza, rendering it inoperable.
Over the past 18 months, Israel has systematically attacked every hospital in Gaza - killing patients and torturing and executing doctors.

Social media users from around the globe are paying tribute this week to journalist and activist Mousa Qous, a long-time prominent figure in Jerusalem’s Afro-Palestinian community.
Mousa was the executive director of the African Community Society in the Old City of Jerusalem. Much of his life was dedicated to the Palestinian cause and highlighting the often-overlooked experience of Afro-Palestinians.
He passed due to a fire in his home on 9 February and is survived by his wife Joharah and his children, Mohammad and Shaden. An article he wrote for Skin Deep Magazine has been heavily circulated since the news of his passing, in which he wrote about the history and nuanced experience of Afro-Palestinians.
“It is a very specific experience, existing both as an overlooked part of a city’s history and as a persecuted community within a persecuted community,” he wrote. In it, he also interviewed his daughter, 22-year-old Birzeit law student Shaden, who is also very active in the community.
“Israeli forces do not treat the Afro-Palestinian community with humanity,” she said.
“[They] refer to us with the term Koshi [Hebrew for ‘Negro’], while the local Palestinian community calls me Samra [Arabic for ‘Dark woman’]. I am always reminded of my colour and that I am different.”
Shaden, who is also an American citizen, has been very vocal about the Palestinian cause despite Israel’s continuous crackdown on pro-Palestine content online. Israel arrested her on 6 January on charges of “incitement” for social media posts, delaying her release until 10 February – just mere hours after her father’s burial was completed.
There were also reports that Israeli forces stormed the Qous household while many were gathered in mourning, and detained Mousa’s brother, Nasser, the head of the Palestinian Prisoner’s Club.

This is why they’re banning TikTok
The fact the United States is banning TikTok for Israel while Israel hasn’t even banned TikTok is hilarious — like, do US citizens still not realise what’s going on? You’re being brainwashed to support crimes the rest of the world opposes, and we can all see it.

"But Palestinians elected Hamas!"
False. Let's take an analytical look at the reality of the situation and the statistics behind the most recent Palestinian election.
First of all, the most recent parliamentary (and legislative) election in Palestine took place in January of 2006, just over 18 years ago.
At that time, the estimated population of Palestine was about 3,761,904 (reported as of July 2005). Interestingly enough, at this time, just over half of the population of Palestine (52.3%) was under the age of 18. Those numbers alone suggest that Palestinians as a whole could not have voted for Hamas, since the majority of the population was underage.
But of course, there's even more to this story. Of the population that was eligible to vote, only 1,341,671 were registered to vote and only 1,042,424 votes were cast. Of the cast votes, only 990,873 were labeled as "valid" votes. That comes out to approximately 26.3% of the population of Palestine in 2006 having cast valid votes.
However, the plot thickens even further. In 2006, Hamas was under a party called "Change and Reform", which won the election by a slim margin with a majority of 440,409 votes compared to the runner up with 410,554 votes. Doing the math, this means that in the most recent election in 2006, Hamas, under the Change and Reform party, won the election with a vote from approximately 11.7% of the total population of Palestine.
And if those numbers aren't already enough, let's compare that to the current population, seeing as the 2006 election was so long ago. Making the bold assumption that every single person who voted for Hamas in 2006 is still alive, and compared to the current Palestinian population of about 5.4 million people, that comes out to be approximately 8% of the current population having voted for Hamas.
Yes, you heard me right,
Only 8% of the current population of Palestine voted for Hamas
Now I know I hardly have any followers and the chances of this post getting any attention are slim to none, but these numbers are so important. When we talk about Hamas, October 7th, and the ongoing, centuries old Israeli-Palestinian conflict, we have to consider the analytical data behind all this. Those of us supporting Palestine have never said we're in support of Hamas, in fact many of us understand the detrimental impacts Hamas has had on the Palestinian political system.
All we're asking is for you to have even an ounce of compassion and understanding for the fact that tens of thousands of innocent civilians are being killed at the hands of the Israeli military. This is a genocide. Israel is an apartheid state. There's no debating that.

Here in Gaza, it’s 55°F (13°C), and it’s raining heavily. While many people around the world enjoy the winter under warm blankets or with a hot drink, life here is very different.
Tumblr media
Families who lost their homes are living in tents that can’t protect them from the cold or the rain. The ground turns to mud, and the wind cuts through the thin fabric. It’s hard to imagine staying warm in these conditions, but for many here, this is their reality.
For families like Islam’s, winter is a season of pain. His family lives in a tent that barely stands against the rain and wind. His mother is fighting cancer, and his grandfather, who is over 85 years old and has a physical disability, suffers greatly in the cold. Last winter was unbearable for them, and this year is starting to feel just as harsh.
Winter here isn’t magical; it’s survival!!
