PSA to renters: landlords and property managers rely on and take advantage of the fact that you don't know your rights as a tenant. For my legal studies class I had to read the tenancy act and I realised so much of what my property manager and my landlord does is actually not legal and they are taking advantage of me not knowing my rights. I now know my rights and feel empowered and assured that I can protect myself and my home from a legal standpoint. All of this is to say: read your local tenancy act !

Do you know Your Rights during a Police Investigation?
Stay informed, and don’t be afraid to assert your rights.
Tumblr media
Remember, you have the right to remain silent—you don’t have to answer questions without a lawyer present. If you’re detained or arrested, ask if you’re free to leave. During a search, know that police generally need a warrant—don’t consent if they ask to search your belongings or home without one.

Just remember that police will say your mentally ill and use the excuse mentally ill to shoot you in the face !!!! Even when you just fed up, DON'T EVER CALL COPS FOR HELP. There just gonna make it worse and possibly land the caller in jail.

Navigating the Complex World of Credit Disputes: What You Need to Know
In the realm of legal disputes, clarity is key. Whether you’re a seasoned lawyer or a concerned consumer, the first step in resolving any issue is understanding the basic terms involved. So, where do you start? With a dictionary, of course! 🌟 It might sound old-school, but when the law is unclear, the dictionary provides the raw meaning of words, stripping away any ambiguity. This foundational step is crucial in navigating legal matters, especially in complex areas like credit disputes.
Proper Investigation Procedures: Now that we’ve got the basics down, let’s talk about what happens when a credit bureau fails to do its job properly. Imagine filing a dispute, hoping for a thorough investigation, only to find out that the bureau has simply verified the information they already had. 😡 This isn’t just frustrating—it’s a serious lapse in proper procedure.
A proper investigation should involve more than just checking their internal records. It should include seeking out external sources to verify the disputed information. When this doesn’t happen, it’s not just a mistake; it’s a breach of the procedures they are legally required to follow.
Credit Bureau Disputes Explained: This brings us to the heart of the matter: why do these lapses occur, and what can you do about them? Credit bureaus often fall short in their investigations, and when they do, they open themselves up to legal action. But there’s another layer to this issue—the role of the "furnishers." 🧩
"Furnishers" refer to debt collectors and original creditors who provide information to the credit bureaus. When you dispute something, these furnishers are supposed to cooperate with the investigation. However, they often don’t, leading to incorrect or incomplete investigations. That’s where the 1681s-2(b) law comes into play.
Holding Debt Collectors Accountable: Here’s the important part: If you dispute directly with the furnisher, you’re limited in what legal action you can take. But if you dispute through the credit bureau, you gain the ability to hold these furnishers accountable under 1681s-2(b). ⚖️ This law is designed to ensure that furnishers can’t just ignore their responsibilities—they must comply with proper investigation procedures or face the consequences.
Conclusion: In the world of credit disputes, knowledge truly is power. By understanding the basic definitions and the procedures that credit bureaus and furnishers must follow, you equip yourself with the tools to protect your financial well-being. Remember, always dispute through the credit bureaus to maximize your legal protections, and don’t hesitate to hold debt collectors accountable under the law. Your financial future depends on it!

In the interest of supporting voting, I'd like to point folks to Vote411.org. This site is run by The League of Women Voters and provides information on how to vote in your state as well as what's on the ballot.
On this site you will find state specific information on early voting, absentee ballots, polling locations, registering to vote, disability accommodations, language assistance, and lots more.
The people that want to control you don't want you to vote. Think very hard about why that is.
