I opened a book today on animals that was published in the 1950s and the chapter I opened to was

Chapter IX: Two Queer Little Haymakers.

And I had to stand there for a while and process what it was before like quickly reading the passage and the animal it was about.

They were talking about Pikas.

They're a type of mountain rodent that is a relative of the rabbit sharing the Order of Lagomorph. They collect weeds and hay to line their nest-keeping warm in the winter and having a food storage.

And with how old the book is, queer had a bit of a different meaning than now.
