Oh, he's done it, ladies and gentleman! Boston Dumb Fuck has officially murdered Christmas!!! 👏👏👏👍👍👍
I know he had some doubters out there. I mean would he have anything left in the tank after absolutely destroying Thanksgiving, New Years, Valentine's Day (a true reputation killer on all levels 😘, also providing a fatal collateral hit to International Women's Day), all Jewish holidays, MLK Day, Cesar Chavez Day, Indiginous Peoples Day and Juneteenth since he fake married a racist Nazi- thus tacitly approving of those beliefs and behaviors, Mid-Fall Festival (a sophisticated man of the world!), Halloween (another of his favorite holidays, and he slapped those festivities a couple of times)...
And the lost momentum of waiting a full year, plus his absolute love for Christmas may have proven too much for the ruiner. Would he actually be able to pull off this record feat? Well, with the red carpet embarraments, brutal reviews*, awkward (to put it nicely) press tour interviews and possibly career ending box office performance for Red One, the answer is a resounding "YES"! Yes, he is the World Champion of Celebration Smashing. Just shows what a lot of greed, massive self-hatred and a super human amount of toxic masculinity can do!
I mean from the wearing the Nazi flag colors (again) in Berlin; to being completely drunk and obnoxious; having the oversized shame band finally fly off and him trying to hide it in his mouth; attempting to revive the thirst trap spark by showing us his tattooed tiddies even though he got "married" so he didn't have to do that anymore and most are repulsed by him anyway; seeing the return of Pissy Chrissy; and all the lies! Lies on top of lies. Lies that contradicted lies he just told- that he lost his virginity at 25 when we were all forced to hear how he lost it at 17 or 18 and how he called his mom to cry because he couldn't find the clit, then saying his mom was strict, when clearly there are boundary issues and probably why he is so fucked as an almost 44 year-old; that he and the Nazi wifey are "ping ponging" (or was it "pinballing"? Whatever, watching clips of him make me want to wretch so I won't be going back to look- it is all false anyway) between Portugal and the US and this one would be in Boston, but last year there was evidence he was also in Boston without the precious racist in site (also, don't know how they plan to explain all this to Immigration, but that is for him, his people and his kind and fluffy Lord to figure out); while not a lie, showcasing his talent for Xenophobia (thus making all of his previous activism null and void) by confusing Brazil and Portugal, as well as when asked what new traditions he was incorporating now that he had a Portuguese/German "wife", he responded by saying he was a "purist" when it came to Christmas (purist=American, such a bad look for anyone, but especially for a performative cis, rich, white male); saying he couldn't wait to be a Superhero Dad (or some bullshit) even though he has yet to emotionally age past maybe 12 at best and couldn't be trusted to make a good decision if his (or a child's) life depended on it; he even had People Magazine lying about events and timelines for him and almost his entire family showed up to the NYC premiere to pretend they liked both the insipid fat-shamer and the joyless movie.
Tumblr media
Makes you wonder what he has planned for an encore. Guy Fawkes Day? Arbor Day? Talk Like a Pirate Day?
Well now we just have to wait for March for those Razzies to come pouring in. Maybe that was what the bookcase Fishmouth was showing off was for, because we know it wasn't going to be for books. The little Lolita-lovin' wifey may want to get her outfit now:
Just solid, shitty, soulless automoton work. He and his handlers should be very proud!
*I see the audience reviews are apparently through the roof and that is great some people enjoyed it. But never underestimate the influence of a gift basket from The Rock. Plus, let's not forget over half of the US had no problem essentially voting to end democracy because they were afraid of a strong black woman, and this happens to be Dwayne's key demographic.

Looking for a job in today’s politicized job market?
Prepare to submit a résumé, cover letter, references — and a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement: A page-long explanation of how you intend to bring those three seemingly benign principles into the workplace.
DEI statements have become standard practice in academia, but a tide might be turning: UNC and UMass Boston recently un-required mandatory DEI statements for student admission, employee recruitment and faculty promotion.
Here’s hoping this sets an industry precedent — a step towards reining in DEI in every sector.
When I taught at Penn State Abington from 2018-2022 as an English professor, their obsession with DEI created a hostile work environment teeming with discrimination.
Case in point: writing faculty were subjected to a video called “White Teachers are a Problem.”
After making my opposition known, I was retaliated against.
My perceived insubordination was branded on Affirmative Action Office notices, and I was sanctioned by HR as well as on my annual performance review.
Penn State’s stance was clear: Blind loyalty is required by the DEI machine.
The premier job board across academia, HigherEdJobs, shows how deeply entrenched compulsory left-think has become.
Whether you want to teach French at SUNY Oswego, Dance at Chapman, Soil Science and Nutrient Management at Colorado State, or Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Syracuse, your prospective employer will expect a DEI statement, so prepare to bend the knee.
Even if you aspire to become the Beef Center Assistant Manager at Washington State University: Yep: DEI statement.
And these are just a few random examples posted since Thanksgiving.
It’s an epidemic.
Make no mistake, the DEI machine has always been about toeing an ideological line — never any meaningful change.
Consider the case of Dr. Tabia Lee — a former faculty member of De Anza Community College in California.
While facilitating a “Decentering Whiteness” event featuring a BLM co-founder, Lee (who’s Black) made waves by allowing students to ask unscripted follow-up questions. For doing so, her tenure was sabotaged.
Despite being “diverse,” it turns out that Lee’s actual diversity didn’t gel with De Anza’s agenda.
A commitment to actual diversity requires respecting diverse viewpoints.
But wrong-think isn’t tolerated by the DEI Industrial Complex.
Fortunately, federal law has something to say about that: neither De Anza nor Penn State has the authority to suppress Dr. Lee or my speech, nor can they discriminate on the basis of race.
That’s why she and I — supported by the nonpartisan group, the Foundation Against Intolerance & Racism — are bringing lawsuits against our former employers.
Pull back this sacred academic curtain, and see the emperor’s new clothes for yourself.
In 2021, Pennsylvanian’s taxes and students’ tuition went towards workshops on microaggressions, intersectional feminism, anti-racism, and white privilege led by the Penn State Abington DEI grifters.
Its leader’s Juneteenth email directed white faculty and staff to “stop talking,” “find an accountability partner,” and “stop being afraid of your own internalized white supremacy.”
Such DEI efforts ooze with divisiveness, so yes, DEI statements are clearly a form of compelled speech, and thus, a violation of First Amendment free speech protections.
Tumblr media
[ Dr. Tabia Lee says her tenure-track position at De Anza College in California was derailed after she failed to conform to DEI orthodoxy. ]
What’s worse, though, is the type of educational environment that DEI-ified initiatives create for students — and the culprit is the “E”: Equity.
Here’s how “equity” played out in the misguided minds of my DEI-obsessed former colleagues. A former supervisor, who endorsed the view that “reverse racism isn’t racism,” also announced that “racist structures” exist “regardless of [anybody’s] good intentions” and that “racism is in the results if the results draw a color line.”
The apparent guiding subtext here: students should be graded on the basis of race so all achieve similar outcomes.
Suppose you deflated the grades of Asian-Americans — a group that often disproportionately excels — much like Harvard deflated their acceptance rates until the Supreme Court put a stop to race-based admissions.
That’s somehow acceptable in the name of “equity?” Of course not, but disagree with enforced equity in education and in the eyes of antiracist activists, that makes you – you guessed it — a “racist.”
Alternatively, performative equity could be achieved by inflating everybody’s grades — straight A’s all around!
Harvard’s almost there: in 2020-2021, 80% of all grades were A’s, according to an October article in the Harvard Crimson.
The road to equity is paved by the soft bigotry of low expectations.
And in a world where grit, labor, and integrity win the day, academia’s obsession with “equity” breeds a “survival of the weakest” mindset.
Nevertheless, the DEI machine continues to reign supreme.
Over a five-year span, Ohio State’s DEI annual budget bloated to $20 million with nearly 200 DEI bureaucrats who cite the leftist scripture of Ibram X. Kendi and Robin DiAngelo.
But before we can enter their church, us natural-born sinners must repent by issuing performative DEI statements?
Yeah. No thanks.
Paradoxically, the more elite institutions obnoxiously virtue-signal their allegiance to DEI, the less committed they are to actual diversity and inclusion — and the more they obscure actual equality in the process.
These institutions aren’t hiding what they’re doing.
Even in the throes of my lawsuit, Penn State Abington has doubled down on DEI: there’s now a sister office — the Office of Inclusive Excellence — complete with its own cabinet-level director.
Folks: this isn’t going away unless you take action.
Here’s a start: if you’re ever asked to submit a DEI statement, don’t bend the knee to their “E” — Equity.
Reframe their game, and tell them how and why you stand up for the honorable “E”: Equality.

Mini Review - The Blackening (2023)
Tumblr media
i really like it (high tier?) 🤔
Quite a Black-ass funny-ass horror, but much more of an interesting Black movie than a horror. Like, the main horror is in the racist murderer at a cabin in the woods. Like,... I'm not even gonna explain that. You either get it or you don't. Which brings me to the main thing I wanna say. This really is for Black people. I wouldn't recommend it for people who aren't in some way "Black" (biracials, getcha ass in here).
I'm serious when I say this isn't for Euros. Like, y'all really shouldn't* watch this unless you were out of the blue invited by Black people or are yourself very involved with Blackness in some way. (whatever dafuq that means) Should full-on Euros who have no actual exposure to Blackness see this movie? Absolutely not. Everything's dangerous in the wrong hands, and some of y'all asses are gonna do the absolute wrong shit with this. Intentionally or not.
*Pre-Edit: I heard a room of Black people (including some cast members) completely disagree with me in Way Up With Angela Yee’s video (timestamped).
Now that I'm done talking to the non-Blacks, let's get on with it.
for the African Descended
Tumblr media
Y'all, this some shit. God damn. So glad I just happened to see this in a small theatre filled to a third with mostly Afros. Got to enjoy the reactions almost as much as the movie. Is it great, though? As a Black movie, yeah. As a horror movie, nah. As a Black horror, yep. As a Black comedy horror, hell yeah. And to be real, I don't think non-Black reviews/opinions/criticisms should even be taken into account for this one. Like, I read 7 recent reviews on Letterboxd before getting to Darryl Buckhanan's and seeing all the convincing I needed. This ain't for everybody. And I'm glad it ain't. Let ma ass be. Real talk,... how many o'y'all would'a failed that shit? 💀
Real talk, I didn't trust this movie to not be for Euros because of the director (Tim Story). Here me out! Of his 23 movies listed on Letterboxd, I've only seen five: Barbershop (2002), Fantastic Four (2005), Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), Think Like a Man (2012) (they just had to put Rihana’s abuser in this 🙄), and this one. While I enjoyed all of the other four, I 1) haven't seen his other Black-casted works and 2) strongly suspected Shaft (2019) of being made for Euros everytime I saw its preview in theatres. Never bothered to confirm that suspicion, but I don't feel the need to. Fortunately, that review convinced me of this one and I saw it yesterday.
Side Notes:
Would not recommend watching 3Peat Presents: The Blackening - Uncensored before the movie if you're already interested. If you ain't, then go ahead and ask yourself if you want a feature length film inspired by this 4 minute Comedy Central skit. (the answer is yes)
Already saw it and interested in hearing some of the cast and crew talk about it? Here ya go:

list of Critqal's mini interviews with the cast

The Blackening "World Premiere" | Cast Q&A TIFF 2022 - Antoinette Robertson

The Blackening Interviews: Dewayne Perkins, Jermaine Fowler, Tim Story & More - JoBlo Celebrity Interviews
The Blackening Cast and Writers on Subverting Horror Tropes and Cracking Up on Set | TIFF 2022 - Collider Interviews
The Blackening Cast Talks Chemistry Between Cast Members, Horror Movies + More - Way Up With Angela Yee
The Cast Of 'The Blackening' Speaks On Creating A Horror Film From The Black Perspective + More - Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM
Waitin' for my favorite Afro streamers to talk about The Blackening. fuckers better come on
Happy Juneteenth, mofos
Pre-Edit: I realized while listening to interviews and doing my Crew Data that this movie probably won't fully succeed unless Euros watch it too. That’s the business side of it. I’m speaking on more of a personal matter in comparison. meh 🤷🏿‍♂️ Shortly after typing the above, I heard a room of Black people (including some cast members) completely disagree with me in Way Up With Angela Yee’s video (timestamped).
Tests:
I’m gonna skip 4 crew tests and hold off on posting Crew Data for now. Here’s the test process for the other 16, though.

It's been more than a month since a dozen civil rights and religious groups say they sent a letter to the White House calling on President Joe Biden sign an executive order to study reparations by Juneteenth, or this Sunday, June 19, marking the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.

The study activists wants comes after a decades-long push to establish a 13-person reparations commission in Congress.

Shortly after the end of the Civil War, Union leaders promised formerly enslaved families "40 acres and a mule" -- a promise never fulfilled.
However, a reminder of the centuries-old promise has languished in Congress for decades. H.R. 40, the Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African Americans Act, has been introduced in every legislative session since 1989.
The measure seeks to establish a commission to study "and consider a national apology and proposal for reparations for the institution of slavery, legal and other racial and economic discrimination, and the impact of these forces on living African Americans, to make recommendations to the Congress on appropriate remedies ..."
In recent years, the bill has gained some political traction.
In 2019, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, hundreds of members of Congress and over 350 organizations, including the U.S. Conference of Mayors, NAACP and ACLU publicly announced support for reparations.
At the Tribeca Film Festival, "The Big Payback," a documentary examining reparations, directed by "Living Single" actress Erika Alexander, premiered at the legendary festival in early June.

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki reiterated in 2021 that President Biden supported the study of reparations. However, when asked if he would support a bill on reparations Psaki said, "We'll see what happens through the legislative process."
Asked if Biden supports an executive order on the study of reparations, Psaki said at the time, "it would be up to him, he has executive order authority, he would certainly support a study, and we'll see where Congress moves on that issue."
A White House official told ABC News on Thursday, President Biden still "supports a study of reparations and the continued impacts of slavery but he is very clear that we don't need a study to advance racial equity."

Nkechi Taifa is director of the Reparation Education Project, and has been calling for reparations for moire than 50 years. In 1987, she was one of the founders of the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America (N'COBRA), an organization that worked closely with Democratic Rep. John Conyers to draft the introduction of H.R. 40 in 1989. She says now is the time for Biden to sign an executive order so the commission can be up and running before the end of Biden's presidency.
Taifa says she hopes the display at the ellipse sends a message that reparations advocates need to be paid attention to, and Black people should not be taken for granted.
She told ABC News, "If they think they're gonna rest on Juneteenth because it's a holiday and a watered down policing reform bill -- that's not enough. Black people have been run roughshod over, you know, for centuries, and it just, it just cannot continue."
Joan Neal, deputy executive director and chief equity officer at NETWORK, a social justice advocacy group founded by U.S. religious sisters tells ABC News, that "Slavery was a sin, that was the original sin of this country, and we believe that unless you acknowledge your sin and you make a firm determination to never do it again, and then make restitution for what was lost. You still have not been forgiven."
She added, "All parties have to be willing to stand up and face the sin in order for the sin to be forgiven and in order for things to be whole again."

RODDY RICCH DIALS UP “911”
Tumblr media
RIAA Diamond-certified rap superstar Roddy Ricch is back with his eagerly awaited new single, “911,” available now via Bird Vision/Atlantic Records. An official visual premieres today on YouTube, directed by Spike Jordan. The track heralds Ricch’s hugely anticipated third full-length LP, THE NAVY ALBUM, arriving at last later this year. Additionally, Roddy sat down with Eddie Francis on the Zane Lowe show to discuss "911," and what fans can expect from his  forthcoming album "THE NAVY ALBUM.” The interview is available HERE.

Ricch – who lit up Kendrick Lamar’s acclaimed The Pop Out: Ken & Friends Juneteenth event at Inglewood, CA’s Kia Forum last week with an explosive performance during Mustard’s set – made his long awaited return this spring with his first official solo release in close to two years, “Survivor’s Remorse,” available now HERE. The powerful track – which includes a sample from fellow Atlantic recording artist Kelly Clarkson’s 2023 hit, “me” – arrived alongside an official music video, directed by Spike Jordan (Gunna, NAV & Don Toliver Ft. Future) and already boasting over 3M views via YouTube HERE.
A deeply personal response to long lingering questions, “Survivor’s Remorse” marked the first new chapter in what is quickly shaping up as a landmark 2024 for the GRAMMY® Award-winning (and 10x GRAMMY® Award-nominated) artist, including “let it breathe (feat. Roddy Ricch),” his recent feature on Gunna’s blockbuster new album, ONE OF WUN.
With 12.4B overall streams and 6.6B US total streams to date, Roddy Ricch has been praised by Pitchfork as “The West Coast’s premier melodic storyteller.” The self-proclaimed “illustrator of the streets” made an explosive debut with 2019’s 2x RIAA Platinum-certified, chart-topping album, PLEASE EXCUSE ME FOR BEING ANTISOCIAL, highlighted by 11 RIAA certified singles including the 3x GRAMMY® Award-nominated, Diamond-certified #1 classic, “The Box.” Both the album and “The Box” made chart history, dominating as the #1 album and #1 song for three non-consecutive weeks, with “The Box'' further ruling atop Billboard’s “Hot 100” for 11 consecutive weeks. Ricch then replaced himself atop the “Hot 100” by scoring his second straight #1 with his feature on DaBaby’s 5x Platinum single, “Rockstar,” which spent seven non-consecutive weeks at the top of the overall chart.
Ricch’s sophomore album, LIVE LIFE FAST arrived in December 2021 and made an explosive #1 debut on Billboard’s “Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums” chart as well as at #4 on the overall Billboard 200. 2022 saw the releases of THE BIG 3, a three-song collection highlighted by the smash single, “Real Talk,” as well as 2022’s FEED THA STREETS 3, including such critically acclaimed singles as “Twin (Feat. Lil Durk)” and “Aston Martin Truck.”
Ricch is undoubtedly a major musical force, a fact made clear by 2020 “Best Rap Performance” GRAMMY® Award triumph for Nipsey Hussle’s “Racks In The Middle (Feat. Roddy Ricch & Hit-Boy),” along with nominations for “Best Rap Song” (for “Racks In The Middle”) and a “Best Rap/Sung Performance'' nod for Mustard’s smash single, “Ballin (Feat. Roddy Ricch).” “The Box” and “Rockstar'' received each three nominations at the following year’s GRAMMY® Awards, including “Song of the Year” (“The Box”) and “Record of the Year” (“Rockstar”), with both named among the “Best Melodic Rap Performance” and “Best Rap Song” nominees. Additional honors include an American Music Award, two BET Hip Hop Awards, and two BET Awards, “Album of the Year” for PLEASE EXCUSE ME FOR BEING ANTISOCIAL.
An unstoppable live performer, Ricch has stolen the show on multiple headline tours, festival stages, and on an epic run as special guest on Post Malone’s blockbuster 2022 “Twelve Carat Tour.” He has made a range of high profile TV appearances, including back-to-back performances on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon - HERE and HERE, CBS’s The Late Late Show with James Corden, and more.

Stuff I'm Looking Forward To in June
Can't believe we're now into the Summer season! In addition to LGBTQ+ Pride Month (6/1-6/30), Flag Day (6/14), Father's Day (6/16), Eid al-Adha (6/17), Juneteenth (6/19), and first day of Summer (6/20), as well as NBA Finals and Stanley Cup Playoffs, here is what's on my radar this month:
Movies:
Brats
Since his starring roles in 80s movies like Pretty in Pink, Less Than Zero and Mannequin, Andrew McCarthy has actually become a very prolific director. Now he's directing a documentary about the group of young actors in the 80s known as the Brat Pack that he was a part of. In this doc he looks at the phenomena and tracks down his peers today to look back on the influence it had on their career. Premieres on Hulu on 6/13!
Inside Out 2
Pixar's Inside Out was among my Top 5 Movies of 2015. Looking forward to this return of the inner workings of a tween girl. Opens 6/14.
Tuesday
At IFFBoston last month, there was a film I missed that I wanted to see. The always good Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a comic genius, but she’s flexed her dramatic muscles in films like You Hurt My Feelings. In this fantasy, she plays a mother who must confront death with her teenage daughter in the form of a talking bird. Opens 6/14 (review to come).
A Quiet Place: Day One
John Krasinki's excellent horror movie A Quiet Place was one of my Best Movies of 2018 and the sequel was one of my Best Movies of 2021. This new spin-off about a the initial invasion in NYC is not directed by Krasinski, but it does star Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o! Opens 6/28.
Music:
Mike Campbell and The Dirty Knobs Vagabonds, Virgins and Misfits
Guitarist Mike Campbell of The Heartbreakers and more recently Fleetwood Mac, released his first album with his band The Dirty Knobs Wreckless Abandon in 2020 and it was an impressive debut. The band's third album is dropping 6/12 (review to come).
Paul McCartney & Wings One Hand Clapping
In 1974, Paul McCartney and Wings went to Abbey Road Studios for a documentary and a possible live album. That album was never released, but it has become an in-demand bootleg over the years with select tracks appearing on special editions here and there. Now it is finally getting an official release on 6/14.
Wilco Hot Sun Cool Shroud
A Wilco release is always a high priority for me and this new EP featuring 6 new songs from the Cousins sessions is coinciding with the release of their Solid Sound Festival in North Adams, MA. EP drops on 6/28 (review to come).
TV:
The Acolyte
The newest live action Star Wars series is here. This one is set 100 years before the events of Episode 1. Premieres on Disney+ on 6/4.
Conventions:
Fan Expo Boston
The annual Boston comic con hits the Hynes Convention Center (after being in the Seaport for a few years). Some of the guests that will be appearing include Vincent D'Onofrio, Rose McGowan, Chevy Chase (and a ton of Vacation stars), Marisa Tomei, Rosario Dawson, Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Raimi. Convention is from 6/14-6/16 (watch for my coverage).
Super Megafest
As if Fan Expo Boston wasn't enough, the annual Super Megafest comic convention is at the Verve Hotel in Natick. Guests include Sid Krofft (and a number of cast members from his shows), Kiss's Bruce Kulick, Christopher Atkins and more. Convention is from 6/28-6/30.
