SALVADOR (1986) Grade: B-
Its a good story, little long, preachy, but shot well. It was Oliver Stone behind the camera. Story still moves a good pace. The ending is pretty heartbreaking even though the film had plenty of levity.

I've got a theory about the wisdom saga that I haven't really seen anyone else talking about.
(please keep in mind that I studied biology and not literature)
I've seen everyone talking about what happens to Athena at the end of God Games, wondering how hurt she is or if she died. I know the pop culture image of Zeus, that he is a hot head narcissist who cannot see past his own pride and would absolutely attack his favorite child for winning a game. However, I recently read the Iliad and the Odyssey and the vibe I got was more like a Good Omens style "ineffable plan" type personality. He had a plan for everything even if nobody else totally knew what it was.
He would get mad at the other gods who tried to trick him, like Hera distracting him so Poseidon can help the Greeks in the Iliad, but he was never quite so unreasonable as he is in God Games.
I think he lied to Athena about what the game is. He says, "But if he's worth the risk of going under, why not make it a game" and then set up a game in which Athena risks nothing. He told her to prove that Odysseus was worth her losing everything, but she has nothing to lose if she cannot convince the other gods. The only thing at stake is Odysseus' freedom.
I think he knew that she would be able to convince the other gods easily (and she did) and the real test would come when she reached him. When he started getting mad Athena could either back down, beg for forgiveness and admit defeat or risk everything and continue begging for Odysseus' freedom.
I think the reason the song ends when it does is because that is when she really won Zeus' game. By continuing to beg for Odysseus after being attacked, she proved that she really felt so strongly about this that she was willing to lose everything to help win him his freedom.

"I thought maybe if I hadn't missed it all, maybe if I had made a different call, maybe he'd be fine." But it's Hermes to Luke ☹️

Odysseus: I keep thinking of the Infant from that Night... 😔😔
*literally one song later*
Odysseus: I threw that Baby off a wall and I'd fvcking do it again. Do not care, nuh-uh, there is no need for Zeus to randomly reappear again.

The part of Epic’s ‘The Underworld’ song where Odysseus realizes his mother is dead but with Luke and May Castellan.
I take no criticisms.

I enjoyed everyone's part in the Thunder Saga, Luke Holt as Zeus did incredible, as always, Armando as Eurylochus tugged at my heart here, the way he sounds so broken at the end, knowing he and the other men are gonna die at the end, his slight hypocrisy, just everything was great, especially his interactions with Odysseus near the end of Mutiny and Thunder Bringer, but Anna Lea as Penelope/Siren really took the spot for me, this is a woman that you could definitely see why a man like Odysseus would go so far in lengths to go see her, even when the Siren pretending to be Penelope to trick Ody, I could still see parts of her, which makes me excited for later sagas where she will appear, especially the last saga

A song can't be a perfect description of Zeus
The genius Jorge Rivera-Herrans:
Reasons I'm in love with this song:
1. Zeus saying "Pride is a damsel in distress hiding away where only I can undress her" showing how much a prideful, bastard, obsessed with women he is. And I'm not even gonna start on the "hiding" and his past raping history....
2. Zeus saying "In the end, it's all the same once I apply all the pressure" & "Lightning, wield her, use and yield her thunder, bring her through the wringer show her I'm the judgment call the one who makes her kingdom fall lightning, wield her, use and yield her thunder bringer, here to ring your ears until you're deaf with fear" showing how he needs to always show he is the powerful one and in charge by any means necessary.
3. Zeus tone... which Luke Holt has made it so perfectly...well, Zeus.
4. The whole *accepted/sad* "But we'll die....!" *desperate/mournful*"I know...." deal which I can't and won't comment on since I'm traumatized by it
Thanks for attending my TedTalk.
