How the converted Jews of Mashhad kept their identity
This is a fascinating article in the Librarians exploring the lengths that Jews in Mashhad went to maintain their Jewish identity after they were forced to convert to Islam after the Allahad pogrom of March 1839. Jews smuggled in tiny tefillin in their turbans when they went on pilgrimage to Mecca, and left extraordinary ‘dual-use ‘ manuscripts. Some made their way to Israel in the early 20th century.

A ‘Jewish Qu’ran’ owned by the Hakimian family from Mashhad, now on display at the Israel National Library.
A funeral procession winds around the mosque in Mashhad, Iran. Mourners wail over the deceased when suddenly, government officials burst into the ceremony. A Muslim woman loudly accuses the Jadid al-Islam (“new Muslims”) of wrapping the body in Jewish burial shrouds instead of following Islamic customs.
Panic spreads. Most mourners scatter, fearing for their lives—practicing Judaism in secret is a crime punishable by death. Meanwhile, the argument between the grieving family and the officers intensifies, until the police demand: Enough talking—let a woman inspect the shrouds and settle the matter.
From the back of the crowd, an elderly woman steps forward. She is the wife of a respected Muslim man. The leaders of the Jadid community hold their breath, knowing that the shrouds were indeed prepared according to Jewish tradition and that a single glance could expose them.
The elderly woman curses the Jadid al-Islam loudly, calling them faithless Muslims who are secretly Jews. She leans over the body, examines the shrouds, and then, with audible disappointment, announces that they are perfectly in line with Islamic law.
A sigh of relief sweeps through the community—this time, they are safe. The deceased is buried with full Muslim rites. Later, away from prying eyes, the burial is completed according to Jewish tradition as well.
That elderly woman, named Johar, was herself a Jewish woman who had converted to Islam. After her Muslim husband’s death, she returned to Judaism, immigrated to the Land of Israel, lived in the Bukharan Quarter of Jerusalem, and was buried on the Mount of Olives in 1911.

So, I recently learned about the “say their names to save their lives” campaign on social media that has helped Iranians sentenced to die by the regime in the past.
I am now asking you guys for help with that again.
There is an Iranian Jew named Arvin Netanel ben Siona, whose execution date is set for this Saturday. The Iranian Jewish community have tried endlessly to pursue his release, but to no avail.
Please spread his name.

It’s actually insane how some of you justify your antisemitism. And yes, this time I’m specifically talking about being anti-Israel.
When Israel is attacked by Hamas, it’s their fault for retaliating. When is Israel is attacked by Iran, it’s ok because it’s retaliation. When Israel calls out the UN for being unhelpful, they’re getting what they deserve. When Israel asks the UN to step up, it’s a sad cry for help.
THEY CAN’T ATTACK, THEY CAN’T DEFEND, THEY CAN’T ASK FOR HELP, THEY CAN’T CONDEMN TERRORISTS, WHAT CAN THEY DO?? BE BLOWN TO BITS??? IS THAT WHAT YOU’RE WAITING FOR? WHAT MAKES ISRAEL SO SPECIAL??
It is no coincidence that Israel can’t do anything right and that it houses 7 million Jewish refugees. It’s the oldest excuse in the book. “It’s just the zionists!” Israeli children are children, too. They have no better of a concept of Zionism than you, and yours is scarce. Zionism IS LITERALLY ABOUT JEWS.
Just say you won’t be happy until half the world’s Jews are dead. It’s a lot better to be an antisemite when you’re comfortable with your identity.

Not really loving how my post about the left's love affair with eugenics and blood and soil ideology framed as "decolonization" got coopted into another "wait it's all Christianity??" "It always has been" post." Y'all are sticking your heads in the sand if you think this is a problem with "cultural Christianity." This is the exact same pattern we saw play out in the 1979 Iranian revolution and much of this ideology was coopted from the Nazis by the Soviets and reframed as progressive. This is not an issue with Western "cultural Christianity" and it would be great if Jumblr could stop engaging in the same "there's actually one secret root cause of every problem in the world and if we get rid of it we will have utopia" thing that antisemites have been using against Jews for 2000 years.
#i stg some people really dont understand that the problem with that ideology is not ~we are blaming the wrong religion/people~#there are recognizable patterns of oppression and social issues that have to do with Christianity but not every problem in the world is#rooted in cultural Christianity and the only reason you see so many issues with cultural Christianity is because you live in a majority#Christian country where Christians are in charge#i promise the samd ideology that we see antisemitic ~activists~ in Lebanon using are not caused by their extremely oppressed tiny Christian#community. i promise that the Iranian revolution that found roots in much of the same ideology and thought was not caused by their tiny#oppressed Christian community either#the similar arguments about who is indigenous to the contested areas of Pakistan and India and therefor who can kill which civilains and be#justified has 0 to do with Christianity#and im sorry but the concerted effort by Hamas to insist that Jews are not indigenous to Israel and that therefore it is acceptable to kill#Jews is not rooted in Christianity it is rooted in the co opting of Soviet antisemitism to justify their very much not Christian religious#extremism in a way that appealed to the communist bloc and now appeals to the Western Leftists that have adopted this ideology as well#jumblr#antisemitism#leftist antisemitism#soviet antisemitism#im sorry but the only reason you dont feel the need to be sensitive when talking about Christianity is because you do not live in a country#where Christians are a oppressed or scapegoated minority but i promise that does not mean those countries do not exist or those communities#do not exist and scapegoating Christians or cultural Christianity for problems that have very little if anything to do with Christianity is#the extact same shit people have been doing to jews for 2000 years#this eugenics shit has become a very common argument for the murder of jews and other communities living in the Wrong Place#all over the world and it is not at all contained to ex Christian leftists#this exact anti imperialist rhetoric was used to justify the expulsion of the jews from egypt in the 1950s#and from Iran in the 1979 when jews were charged with being imperialist spies for Iran and America#do you think those countries were Christian? lol#this eugenics shit framed as anti imperialism is not rooted in Christianity or ~cultural Christianity~ and has basically nothing to do with#Christianity at all#christianity#jewblr

Family not told Jew was to be hanged
New details have emerged about the peremptory execution of Arvin Ghahremani by the Iranian regime for killing in self-defence a Muslim man who owed him money. Neither his lawyer nor his family were informed that the 20-year old Iranian Jew would be put to death, suggesting that the timing was determined by politics. This VOA report corroborates the claim that the family of the Muslim man he killed had agreed to accept blood money from Ghahremani’s family when  his religion initially was cited as Shi’ite Muslim.  But the dead man’s family changed its mind and insisted on execution after discovering that Ghahremani was Jewish. He was the first Jew to be hanged for 30 years.
Tumblr media
The funeral notice was first published on X by Iranian American journalist Karmel Melamed
New details have emerged about Iran’s rare execution this week of a member of its tiny Jewish minority.
VOA has learned that Arvin Ghahremani, the first Jewish person executed by the Islamic Republic in 30 years, was put to death in the western city of Kermanshah on Monday without prior notice to his family. Iranian authorities had convicted Ghahremani, who was in his early 20s, of murdering a Muslim man in a 2022 street altercation over money, following a legal process that rights activists denounced as unfair and tainted by antisemitism.
A U.S.-based source with contacts in Iran sent VOA the text of a letter that Ghahremani’s Iranian lawyer, Peyman Saketkhou, wrote on Tuesday and stated that Ghahremani had been executed without notice to family members or defense lawyers.
Saketkhou said he had done everything he could to try to vacate the death sentence, but the family of the man who Ghahremani killed had exercised its legal right to reject financial compensation from the Ghahremani family in lieu of execution.
The source also sent VOA a funeral notice printed by Ghahremani’s immediate family, informing mourners that his funeral would be held on Wednesday at Kermanshah’s Etehad Synagogue, where his uncle is a community leader. Other relatives of Ghahremani live in Los Angeles, the source added. on Tuesday.

The UN's Official Mission report on Hamas' Sexual Violence in Israel was published
Please take your time to read this. Israeli \ Jewish victims deserve the same protection as any other women.
The brief version can be read here.
----
***I am not going to include any graphic detailing.
The pattern of Sexual Violence used by Hamas is very clear:
It was one of their key goals and tactics on October 7th.
Tumblr media
You cannot say "Female Hostages are treated well. you're lying by saying they're raped" anymore!
Tumblr media
Notice how they also said **Children**
Tumblr media
Civilians were in fact burned inside their homes
Tumblr media
This is also clearly a pattern used by Hamas, as this is just one of many examples they detail. -Hamas has also burned soldiers alive in their dorms and offices. That is also further detailed in the report.
This is not fake or propaganda
I can't believe I have to write this but this report is an official report (finally) made by the UN's Sexual Violence Office, as part of their yearly report.
They had a 2-week delegation that toured the actual Kibbutzim (turned crime scenes), interviewed eyewitnesses, spoke to families of victims, etc...
___
I do have to say I was mistaken in my earlier post, besides their conclusion, they have also written their recommendations:
...." V. Conclusions
Overall, based on the totality of information gathered from multiple and independent sources at the different locations, there are reasonable grounds to believe that conflict-related sexual violence occurred at several locations across the Gaza periphery, including in the form of rape and gang rape, during the 7 October 2023 attacks. Credible circumstantial information, which may be indicative of some forms of sexual violence, including genital mutilation, sexualized torture, or cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, was also gathered. 22
With regards to the hostages, the mission team found clear and convincing information that some hostages taken to Gaza have been subjected to various forms of conflict-related sexual violence and has reasonable grounds to believe that such violence may be ongoing.
The mission team was unable to establish the prevalence of sexual violence and concludes that the overall magnitude, scope, and specific attribution of these violations would require a fully-fledged investigation. A comprehensive investigation would enable the information base to be expanded in locations which the mission team was not able to visit and to build the required trust with survivors/victims of conflict-related sexual violence who may be reluctant to come forward at this point.
Regarding the occupied Palestinian Territory, while its scope did not extend to verification, the mission team received information from institutional and civil society sources as well as through direct interviews, about some forms of sexual violence against Palestinian men and women in detention settings, during house raids and at checkpoints. Though the mission team did not visit Gaza, the Office of the SRSG-SVC will continue to monitor the situation for any relevant allegations of CRSV in the context of the ongoing hostilities. The relevant UN entities present in the occupied Palestinian Territory will provide UN-verified information for reporting to the Security Council on allegations of CRSV, which will be complemented by the information obtained by the mission team.
VI. Recommendations
The mission team makes the following recommendations: a) Continue to encourage the Government of Israeli to grant, without further delay, access to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and Israel, to carry-out fully-fledged investigations into all alleged violations that would deepen the preliminary findings contained in the present report. b) Urge Hamas and other armed groups to immediately and unconditionally release all individuals held in captivity and to ensure their protection including from sexual violence, in line with international law. c) Call on all relevant and competent bodies, national and international, to bring all perpetrators, regardless of rank or affiliation, to justice based on individual, superior and command responsibility, in accordance with due process of law and fair trial standards. d) Encourage the Government of Israel to consider signing a Framework of Cooperation with the Office of the SRSG-SVC to strengthen capacity on justice and accountability for CRSV crimes as well as security sector engagement, training, and oversight to prevent and address CRSV. 23 e) Strengthen the capacity of the United Nations to monitor and report on incidents, patterns and trends of CRSV in both Israel and the occupied Palestinian Territory through the establishment of the Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Arrangements on CRSV (MARA), convened by dedicated technical specialists, namely Women’s Protection Advisors (WPAs), deployed to the region to ensure prevention, protection and coordinated multi-sectoral assistance to survivors/victims. f) Encourage relevant actors to uphold information integrity and ethical, trauma-informed representations of conflict-related sexual violence, including by respecting and safeguarding the dignity and identity of survivors/victims and witnesses of sexual violence, as sensationalizing headlines, media pressure and scrutiny, exposure of identity, political instrumentalization and pressure, and/or fear of reprisal can result in the suppression, silencing and discrediting of survivors/victims and witnesses, further compound trauma and increase the risk of social stigmatization. g) Urge all parties to the conflict to adopt a humanitarian ceasefire, and to ensure that expertise on addressing conflict-related sexual violence informs the design and implementation of all ceasefire and political agreements and that the voices of women and affected communities are heard in all conflict resolution and peacebuilding processes....."
Israelis have been repeatedly saying all of this for months now, while you deny it. I've personally had people tell me it's all "fake propaganda". You should all be ashamed.
I am infuriated at the fact that for 5 months, our evidence and word isn't enough for Anti-Zionists. Here is some undeniable proof for you.
Believe Jewish Women.

Zionists spread propaganda that all Islamists from countries dress like this:
Tumblr media
Say you're Islamophobic without saying you're Islamophobic
Tumblr media
Look what propaganda I saw from Zionists
They seriously believe it, I live in fucking Poland and I see that this shit has nothing to do with reality, yes, there are people who dress like this, but spreading the word that every Islamic country dresses like this is like saying that every Jew looks like this:
Tumblr media
I don't think I need to tell you how stupid this line of thinking is

Hamas attacks in retaliation, Israel is made out to be the victim. Israel attacks Sudan, Yemen, and we either don't talk about it or claim it was Hamas. Now Israel fires weapons into Iran and when they fire back, it's considered an aggressive and violent attack against the Israeli people.
Biden is dragging his citizens headlong into a war we should have no part in to support a country who does not care about collateral. He promised debt relief, gender care, pay increases, and we have seen NO positives on any of those fronts all while he desperately pours resources into supplying the murder of innocent Arabs.
You who support this war hate the Arab people, you're all just too much of pussies to admit it. So you hide behind these excuses. "Oh, Israel's just defending itself. Oh, that was someone else". You wish for the death of all the Arabs without any of the social repercussions of actually admitting that, so you claim anyone who wishes for the killing to stop is actually antisemitic and "wants to kill all the Jews".
Palestine will be free and the Israeli government will face punishment for the crimes they have perpetrated.
