The movie was just that bad
Barbie dolls: jegugily x reader (James, regulus, Lily, you)
Word: 2.4k ish
Summary: okay so basically you're feeling all left out so you go to bed early and Lily is like 🤨 and then communication happens 🤢
warnings: you crochet, insecure thoughts and feelings we've all been there it's cool, immature ways of handling a situation for a few seconds, bad poop jokex2 I thought it was silly :(, lily is very loving, feeling like a third fourth wheel, feet mentioned not in any particular manner James is just annoying Reg, reg calls James 'girl' in a dude way yk like "dude shut up" "girl move" yk so if you think of James as trans it could possibly be a little misgendering but like it's not got any evil undertones it's reg being lovingly annoyed with James, James calls you pretty, reg is a mind-reader a lil, Lily has big thighs it's cannon to me that she's plus sized so argue with the wall, Google translate French, that's all <3
Request: how did you know
You felt sick to your stomach. You love all three of your partners, how could you not? But you felt like you were being shunned. You were the first in the living room. You had a long sofa and next to that was an armchair sat sideways. Regulus was off in the kitchen with Lily, making dinner. James was in the bathroom taking a shower. All was well. You cozied up in the armchair, pulling out your crochet project. You heard James' music slipping past the bathroom door. Regulus and Lily were laughing in the kitchen. You smiled at the sound of their voices.
When James finished his shower, he walked through the living room. His towel was tied around his waist slut and he was waving his glasses in the air to get rid of the fog. James popped a kiss on your temple before heading to the bedroom. Dinner was finished, you four ate like normal. It was good until you noticed the others were doing all the talking. They didn't even glance over at you. You ignored it, chalking it up to them being really interested in their conversation. Then you all went back to the living room. Lily turned on a movie. You moved back into your chair. You picked up your crochet again, only now extremely aware of the silence from your partners. They were all piled on the couch, snuggling against each other. All while you sat in the arm chair.
It shouldn't be this serious. They just weren't giving you attention for a handful of hours, but felt like a stab in the heart. There they were all cuddled up against each other, and they hadn't spoken to you since lunch if even that. Regulus had his head in Lily's lap, her fingers tugging through his hair. James was snuggled up against her side. James was hugging her arm to his chest. He had his hand over Regulus' shoulder intertwining his fingers with Regulus'. And you were sitting cross legged in an armchair. You felt like you were miles away from them.
Although you had been dating a while, you joined their relationship last. They were already so comfortable with each other, they had inside jokes, they had bits between each other, they were already so far into their comfortability with another. You were behind, even now. Regulus and James were actively wearing matching pajama pants. You stared at them. you wanted to be curled up with them, but you didn't want to be greedy. Begging for affection from your partners felt strange to you. They'd have to change their postition, they'd probaly miss a few mintutes of the movie, and you'd have to face the total embarrassment of having human wants.
You couldn't handle seeing them together though. It hurt too much to see their domestic love while you were craving it yourself. You weren't going to make a scene though. You set your project and hook on the small table next to you. You stood and quietly left the room. You headed into the hallway that attached the bathroom and your bedroom to the living room.
James, Regulus, and Lily thought nothing of it, they all use the restroom it's quite normal. You didn't go into the restroom, though. You went into the bedroom. The light was already off. You tucked yourself under the covers of your shared bed. You just wanted to wallow in self pity on your own for a little. Then in the morning you'd be mature and bring it up with them, properly communicating. Just not tonight, you needed to sit in your yucky human feelings for a few hours.
The boys were highly focused on the film, they knew you had left the room a while ago. They assumed you were just fighting for your life in the bathroom, which you enjoyed to do alone so they weren't worried. Lily was though. She noticed that you were kind of quiet during dinner. Then very quiet during movie time. Then you got up and left. The movie was boring to her and probably you, but not that boring. She decided she would check on you in the bathroom. Maybe you fell in.
Lily stood up from the couch, not without James whining and Regulus grunting disapprovingly, and walked towards the bathroom. When she reached the door she noticed the lights weren't on and the door was open. Lily knew you walked into this hallway and she was pretty sure you weren't a ghost so she moved further down the hall. She gently pushed open the door bedroom door. Lily found your head of hair resting on your pillow, blankets tugged up to your ear. You must've gotten a headache. She stepped over to your side of the bed. Lily gently pushed your hair away from your temple. She kissed you on your forehead.
"Headache?" Lily whispered. You shook your head against the pillow. She paused and tried to figure out what could be making you feel like an early bedtime was better than sitting through a movie with them.
"You okay?" You once again shook your head. Lily frpwned. She tucked the blankets under your side, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"What's going on? Can I help?" You shrugged. Lily gently rubbed your arm. She asked you to look at her. You both sat in silence a moment before you turned in the covers. You laid on your back and slumped your head to the side, finally meeting her eyes. Lily pleaded with you to talk to her with her face. You sighed.
"I just feel behind and like just" You trailed off trying to think of the right way to describe your thoughts. If you had your self pity time you would've figured it out, but alas your loving girlfriend was loving girlfriend-ing. "Unneeded, I suppose." Lily gave you a sad look, tilting her head to the side.
"Can you expand?" You sighed. You hated voicing things. You much preferred writing it all out, dropping it in front of them, and dashing away into the other room. Regulus was similar although he often left his feelings hung up on the fridge with one of James' strange magnets. You sat up, the blankets collecting in your lap.
"It's like you guys are already so in tune and used to each other being in your lives, I feel like a third wheel. Although this would technically be a fourth wheel but that's just semantics. I know I should be over this by now but it's hard. It feels like I could disappear and you guys' day to day wouln't change at all. I feel secondary and greedy." You hit your hands on the comforter over your lap. Lily grabbed your hands, bringing your attention back to her. Her eyebrows were pulled together. She seemed closer to tears than you did. You noticed a lack of background noise, the movie must've hit a long and quiet dialogue. Lily squeezed your hands.
"I'm so sorry you felt like that. It was never our intention to make you hurt like this. You're so important to us. Our day to day would be ripped to sheds without you. You're allowed to feel like this, you aren't greedy and you don't have to be over it. It doesn't mean you deserve it though. We love you, I love you. I thought you weren't feeling cuddles tonight, that's the only reason I didn't' call you over. I'm so sorry, baby." Lily sealed her apology with a kiss to your cheek. You nodded. You looked down at your lap, you still felt like you were making a big deal out of something so stupid. You did feel a little better though. Lily stood up from the bed. You kept your hold on her hand.
"I'm going to go get the boys." You shook your head. They actually enjoyed the movie, unlike you.
"No don't. They're having fun with their movie, you can go back to them. I just want to lay here. Just don't tell them." You held onto her hand with both of yours. She gave you a disapproving look.
"Just because they're having a fun time doesn't mean you don't deserve to." You grimaced. You muttered pleases, as she tried to pull her hand from you. The door opened before she could leave. James popped his head in first.
"Hey guys you know there's a movie in the other room" James said. His joke made him smile. His eyes crinkling. Regulus pushed him into the room, following in. James' smile slowly fell as he saw the sad looks on both yours' and Lily's faces.
"What happened in here?" Regulus muttered. He picked up the damper mood as well. James flung himself into the bed. You bounced. You felt like a cartoon, being in such a sour mood while jumping up and down from James' weight. He pressed his face to your upper arm. Regulus squinted at you and Lily sharing a look. He moved towards the bed sitting on the edge, closer to the foot of the bed. James rubbed his fuzzy socks up and down Regulus' arm. Regulus grimaced deeply and smacked him away. James giggled against your arm. Regulus rolled his eyes before looking back to you.
"We're feeling a lot of big feelings today." Lily said, sitting back down on the bed. You glared at her. James picked his head up, looking up at you. Regulus scooted closer to you, crossing his legs on the bed.
"Do not infantilize me." You grumbled, sitting back against the pillows. Lily shook her head.
"I'm not-" Regulus cut Lily off with a disagreeing whine.
"Just a little." He mumbled. James ignored them both, staring at you with wide eyes.
"What's going on, darling?" You shrugged. Just don't answer their questions. What can they do? You sat in silence for a moment. You felt the weight of their eyes on you. You truly wished you could fall asleep faster, they would never wake you up for this communication nonsense. Regulus pulled himself up onto his hands and knees. He crawled between you and James shooing him out of the way.
"Move."
"I'm very comfortable where I am thank you."
"Girl, I said move."
"You're so demanding." James muttered as he scooted to the side. Regulus sat next to you, pulling your hands into his.
"I think I know what's going on." Regulus whispered to you. Lily scoffed and rolled her eyes. James shook his head and stared at Regulus.
"Oh yeah, Mr magical I-know-everything man what do you think is going on?" James asked. Regulus snapped his head to face James next to him.
"Shut up." Regulus seethed, hissing through his teeth. He turned back to you and his expression softened. "I joined these dickheads after they were dating and I felt all rejected and behind. Is that what this is about?" Regulus whispered. You nodded your head, holding onto his hands tighter. James made a sad sound behind Regulus.
"That's okay, you feel like we're already comfortable and you'd be intruding? Jealous but in a self-deprecating way?" Regulus gently cupped your cheek with one hand. You nodded. You turned your head, pressing a kiss to his palm. James screeched and pushed his head over Regulus' shoulder.
"You'd think we would've figured this out by now. I'm sorry, pretty." James frowned and pushed his face further into Regulus' shoulder. His face was squished making his glasses slip down a little. Lily rubbed your shoulder.
"Seriously we're really sorry." Lily whispered. At the mention of the word serious James looked up with a grin. Lily held up a hand in his direction. "Do not." James deflated and hid in Regulus' shoulder.
"When did this flare up today? Was it when we were in the kitchen?" Regulus asked, dragging your attention back to him. You grimaced and shook your head. He ran his thumb over your cheekbone, encouraging you to continue.
"Dinner, but really with the movie." Your voice was barely above a breath. You were exhausted from crying in the dark and exhausted from communicating. Regulus nodded and kissed your forehead. James gasped loudly and flung himself over Regulus' legs. He laid on his stomach, kicking his legs up in the air, and supporting his head with his fist.
"Do you want cuddles?" James asked. Lily stared at James for a moment.
"I feel like you're not taking this seriously, and it's upsetting me." Lily said. James' shoulders sunk. He looked away from you to Lily.
"I'm trying to be positive, but you're over here being a Pessimistic Pandora." James poked Lily's plush thighs that rolled up her sleepy shorts when she sat down. Lily glared at him lovingly.
"Don't bring Pandora into this." Regulus argued. James moved his attention to Regulus.
"You're upsetting your partner, look at them." Lily cupped your face as she spoke. You made an exaggerated sad face. She whined and pressed her cheek against yours. "so sad." Lily muttered. James quickly tackled you wrapping you in his warm arms.
"James you're crushing me." You whispered to him. He shook his head against your neck. James turned his head, pecking you all over your face. You let out a laugh, gripping his shoulders for support.
"Crushing you with my love." James said. He scooted further down your body, resting his head on your chest. James held onto you gently now. Regulus laid down next to the both of you. He settled one hand on your shoulder, dropping his head next to yours on your pillow. Regulus gently kissed your cheek. He lingered for a moment before pulling back. Regulus settled against the pillow again.
"I love you, bien-aimé." You melted against him. You turned your head towards him. You pressed your forehead against Regulus'. You felt Lily scooting down the bed too. She pulled your arm off the mattress, and tugging it over her shoulders. She whispered for James to move down. He obliged. James pressed his face into your stomach. Regulus dropped his other hand to James hair, twirling James' curls around his finger. Lily rested her head on your chest. You rubbed her shoulder with your hand. That's how you four fell asleep, giving you all the proper cuddles. In the morning James made pancakes for everyone. Your stack had 'I <3 u' written in chocolate chips. Lily made the fridge magnets into a heart with your initial inside. Next to the grocery list, next to the heart, was a long winded love letter in Regulus' swirly handwriting.

Prompt 17 - Body
@jegulus-microfic March 17 Word count 964
Previous part First part
CW- Stabbing with a dagger and sword
With most of the day left, they thought they’d push their luck and try to talk to the Grey Lady.
They apparated into caves on the outskirts of Hogsmeade that Sirius told them about. Eight people apparating into Hogsmeade at the same time when, more than half of them were either death eaters or associated with them. Plus, they couldn’t risk being seen with James, Sirius or Lily.
“This is pretty cool,” Evan said in awe as he looked around the caves. “How did you find them?”
“Padfoot likes to wander off sometimes,” Sirius answered as he prepared to disapparate and get Pandora. Only he, James and Remus knew where the caves were to apparate into, so they had to side-along the others.
Regulus rolled his eyes. Of course, his brother was still a pain in his animagus form.
Once they were all gathered again, they cast disillusionment charms on themselves, apart from James, who had his invisibility cloak. They made their way into the village, muffling charms on their shoes in case anyone heard them.
They quietly broke into Honeydukes and went through the hidden trapdoor. They probably could have arranged an easier way into the castle, but that would require too much delay with Dumbledore. This way was far easier.
They walked quietly down the passageway, visible again, while no one could catch them.
Regulus fiddled with the dagger still in his robes pocket. He’d always loved it. It was small yet insanely sharp, easy to slice into your enemy’s body without them ever seeing it coming. He cast a few charms on it as they walked, checking to see if anything had been imbued into the blade. It appeared to be a perfectly ordinary knife with no special enchantments or poisons.
“Remus?” He asked as casually as possible.
“Yeah, Regulus?” Remus dropped back to walk beside Regulus.
“How are you with healing spells?” He asked, not looking at Remus.
“Capable. Madam Pomfrey showed me the basics growing up, and I’ve learnt a few more since. Why?’
“Hey, Sirius?” He called his brother over. Sirius bounced towards him. He was far too excitable for what they were on their way to do.
No sooner was Sirius in front of him, walking backwards with a stupid grin on his face, did Regulus’s hand shoot out and jab him in the side with the dagger. Sirius stopped and looked down.
“Regulus, what the shit?!” Remus rushed over and started casting disinfecting and healing charms on his boyfriend. He turned, his eyes glowing even in the low light.
“Explain!” He growled, keeping Sirius behind him and away from Regulus. Sirius’s disgruntled face popped around Remus’s shoulder.
“Is that Bella’s knife?” He asked, squinting in the low light.
“She said I could have it as long as I promised to use it on you. I was just fulfilling that promise. I checked it was just a knife before I stabbed you.” Regulus shrugged.
“Oh, and that makes it all better, does it?” Remus snarled. Regulus was seeing more and more of the wolf shining through.
“Reg, you are such a dick.” Sirius rolled his eyes at him but grabbed Remus and carried on walking.
“Regulus, why would you think that was okay?” James asked, sighing deeply at the situation.
“He gets it. I barely nicked him with it, and this way, I can tell Bella I got him with it, or she’ll know I’m lying. Plus, he stabbed me all the way through with a sword when he was 10. This is payback.” James had to stop.
“What do you mean he stabbed you with a sword?!”
“It was an accident. He set off a firework in the house, and it knocked over a suit of armour, and the sword sort of went through me.”
“You’re both absolutely nuts! Once this war is over, you are both going to see a mind healer and lots of therapy! All the therapy!” James strode off after the others, shaking his head.
The rest of their journey went off without any more mishaps. They disillusioned themselves again and headed towards the Ravenclaw Common room.
The Grey Lady was strangely easy to find. She was gliding along the corridor outside the spiral staircase which led to the Common room.
They had agreed that Pandora should be the one to talk to the ghost, as she’d spent the most amount of time around her as apparently she was shy.
“Hello, Helena,” Pandora’s airy voice filled the corridor even though she wasn’t speaking loudly. The ghost paused and stared at the blonde woman.
“You again?” Her voice faded in and out as she spoke. The others were shocked. They’d never heard the ghost talk before. Pandora beamed.
“Yes, me again. We were wondering if we could ask you about your mother’s diadem?” A change came over the ghost so quickly that James, Remus and Evan pushed their respective boyfriends behind them.
“Another asked about it, and he defiled it with dark magic!” She yelled, blasting through each of the people standing in the corridor. Regulus shivered with the chill from her passing. He stepped forward, watching her as she came to be still again.
“Please,” He pleaded. “We want to destroy it. We want to erase what he did. Will you help us?” Helena Ravenclaw floated to Regulus and stared into his face, only inches between them. Regulus stayed still, letting his mask slip away from his face and hoping the determined good intentions showed through.
She narrowed her eyes at him and moved closer, whispering in his ear, her cold breath freezing his ear slightly.
“It is here. In the room that changes with the broken and lost things.” Remus’s head snapped to look at Sirius. He knew where it was.

Sirius wants Remus to reject him. Not because he wants Remus to reject him, but because it's at least better than the excuses.
Short College AU Get-Together😊
A Better Reason
Sirius purposely doesn’t look up from the Sunday paper’s crossword puzzle when his roommate, Remus, stumbles into the kitchen.
Their other roommate, James, takes one look at Remus’ distressed appearance, and Sirius’ grim expression, firmly keeping his eyes fixed on the paper, and picks up his mug to leave the kitchen, not even bothering to come up with an excuse. From the corner of his eyes, Sirius sees him give Remus a pointed look as he walks past.
Sirius feels his hand cramp up, and suddenly realizes he’s gripping his pen so hard it might snap. With an effort he forces his hand to relax. “I didn’t expect you’d be awake so early,” he says, still not looking up from the paper. “After the night you had.”
“Yeah, well...” Remus runs a hand through his hair. “I didn’t sleep very well.”
A thought suddenly occurs to Sirius and he jerks his head up. “Is Fabian here?”
“What? No! No, that’s not what I... No, he went home after the party. I... I didn’t know you were going to be there?”
“Regulus rescheduled, so I decided to come out anyway. I thought I’d be fun,” Sirius says in a bitter tone. “I didn’t know you had a date?”
“It was a last-minute thing,” Remus mumbles. “Fabian asked, and I was feeling stressed and could use a distraction...” He trails off.
Sirius snorts. “Well, you looked perfectly distracted alright.” He didn’t know how long he had stood there, watching Remus dance up against Fabian, before Remus had even noticed him. Then, of course, Sirius had made a quick exit.
“I’m sorry,” Remus says.
“Why?”
“Because I thought you weren’t coming!”
Sirius shakes his head. “No, why are you sorry? I mean, there’s nothing between us, you don’t owe me anything. You can do whatever the hell you like.” A small voice inside his head asks ‘then why are you mad?’, but he ignores it.
“Still,” Remus says. “It was shitty to let you stand there and watch that.”
“I suppose,” Sirius replies flatly. “So was it all just a bunch of crap then?”
“Was what all just a bunch of crap?”
“You know,” Sirius rolls his eyes. “That whole ‘I can’t date you because I’m leaving for Boston in a couple of months, so it wouldn’t be wise to start something in London now’-story you gave me.”
“No,” Remus says. “No, I meant that.”
“But yet you said yes when Fabian asked.”
“That was different.”
“Come on, Remus!” Sirius scoffs. “Admit it was me you didn’t want to date!”
“I can’t... That’s not...”
“Look, I’m a big boy, Remus. I don’t know if you were trying to blow me off or let me down gently or whatever, but I can handle rejection! What I can’t handle is you not being honest with me.”
“I wasn’t lying, Sirius!” Remus almost sounds desperate.
“Making up excuses, whatever you want to call it.”
“I said no when you asked me out on a date because I’m leaving for Harvard by the end of the semester,” Remus says emphatically.
Sirius folds his arms over his chest. “But somehow, that only applies to me. Why is it perfectly fine to go out on a date with Fabian, then?”
“Because I’m not worried that I’m going to fall head over heels in love with Fabian!” Remus shouts. “Because the thought of leaving Fabian behind doesn’t already stab at my heart as it is! Because leaving for Boston after allowing there to be something more than friendship between me and Fabian won’t absolutely destroy me! So yes, Sirius, if you must know, that only applies to you!”
“Remus...”
Remus pinches the bridge of his nose. “Shite. I shouldn’t have said that.”
“Remus.”
“No, please, I’m sorry. Just forget it.”
“Remus, if you feel that way about me, and I feel that way about you, then we should be together.”
Remus shakes his head. “No. We shouldn’t. We really shouldn’t.”
“Why?” Sirius asks. “Why shouldn’t we?”
“There are so many reasons we shouldn’t!” Remus exclaims. “We shouldn’t because we’ll be more than 5000 kilometres away from each other, and with me having barely enough money to go to Harvard even with the scholarship, and you being disowned, neither one of us has money for plane tickets!”
Sirius takes a step closer to him, while Remus continues speaking.
“We shouldn’t because with both of us being busy with our studies and our jobs to pay for our studies, and you with the football team and me with my writing projects, we’ll hardly have any time to video call, not to mention the time difference!”
Sirius takes another step closer.
“We shouldn’t because with you being who you are, you know people are going to be throwing themselves at you as soon as the new semester starts, and with me being who I am, I know that my insecurities are going to plague me, and it’ll kill me every time I know you’re out, and that’s not fair to me, or to you!”
Another step closer.
“We shouldn’t because our friendship is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and I don’t want to taint the memory of it with the inevitable messy breakup.”
Another step and Sirius is almost standing chest to chest with Remus. He carefully reaches out and cups Remus’ cheek. Remus’ eyes flutter close for a brief moment, before he looks up at Sirius again.
“We should,” Sirius says slowly. “Because I love you.”
“This is a terrible idea,” Remus whispers hoarsely, while he leans into Sirius’ touch.
Sirius only shrugs.
“We’re going to crash and burn,” Remus says, but even as he says it, his hands slide around to the back of Sirius’ neck, as he pulls him down into a kiss.

I could go with knowing Regulus' birthday tho. Trying to make it up with astrology and funky number pseudoscience is fun but you know. :D
There’s a lot of dates for his birthday in the fandom so I thought I’d take a stab at working it out.
His birthday has to be between September 1960 and August 1961 to work with him being canonically a year below the Marauders.
Regulus Black - Birthday Headcanons
WARNING: I KNOW NOTHING OF ASTRONOMY, ASTROLOGY OR ANY OTHER STAR RELATED THING. I KNOW MATHS , LOGIC AND MARAUDERS HEADCANONS THO, SO LETS GO
~ 1st September 1960 ~
Young Regulus and Sirius being annoyed that Reggie is only just in the year below
Mother, can’t Reggie just come to school early?’
Sirius really did not want to go to Hogwarts on his first day, because it would mean leaving Reggie alone on his birthday
They both got up really early to sneak outside, look at the stars and let Reggie open his present
Later that day, it was just him and Kreacher so they had a little tea party to celebrate not that his parents would ever acknowledge his birthday
Birthday party on the Hogwarts Express every year after that
~ 26th September 1960 ~
Regulus is the heart of the lion headcanon one!
His birthday is half a year away from James, and James will never let him live it down
‘Sorry babe, you can drink when your older’
‘I’m only fucking 6 months younger than you, and bloody taller, you prick’
One of the oldest in his year and basically a parent to the younger years, and helping calm them down when some older years pick on them
~ 25th December 1960 ~
His parents celebrate neither his birthday nor Christmas so it was just the Black cousins and Kreacher celebrating on that day when they were younger
When Hogwarts came around, the Marauders found about Regulus’ birthday around fifth year, cut to all of them staying at school over the Christmas break that year
The Great Hall was decorated with tinsel and a birthday banner, and Reggie almost broke into tears
Started calling it ‘Regmas’ as a joke, but it stuck
Reggie finally got to experience both a Christmas and a birthday and he couldn’t be happier
The next year, there was some presents from certain Hogwarts professors besides the familiar wrapping of Reggie’s favourite house elf
All house elves are invited to the birthday party
James kept making mistletoe jokes until the girls trick him into getting under it with Reggie, let’s just say they were blushing for hours after
~ 31st December 1960 ~
Born at around 11PM on the 31st so he’s barely born in 1960
Attends a Marauders New Year party during his fifth year and keeps smiling to himself because it’s the first birthday he’s been with more than two people
Sirius gets drunk and tells everyone how happy he is that his baby brother is growing up
Drunk Marauders sing Harry Birthday and Reggie almost cries of happiness
So many party games, including truth or dare where James ends up confessing
‘Prongs, kiss the hottest person in the room’
‘Sirius...’
‘I’m flattered, but I love Moony’
‘Ew, no mate, no offence, but I was gonna ask if you’d kill me if I kissed Reggie?’
‘Oh go ahead- WAIT, REGGIE?! THAT’S MY BABY BROTHER!’
‘Ignore him, please go ahead, love’
~ 28th February 1961 ~
Wanted it to be 29th of February but sadly 1961 is not a leap year, so this is an adapted version of that idea
Reggie being born at midnight on the 28th, so him and Sirius can never work out when to celebrate
On leap years, they’re so fucking confused about when to celebrate since they barely ever are allowed to celebrate at home
Reggie just pretends that his birthday has already gone when anyone asks to save them the trouble
Even when they weren’t speaking, Sirius makes sure to send a letter to Reggie at midnight on the 1st, to remind his brother that he’s always there
Most years Reggie just sneaks out of his dorm on his birthday to hang out with the house elves at midnight
One time he bumped into James, so it became a tradition for them to spend the night laughing and chatting in the kitchen or library
James just likes seeing Reggie comfortable and happy
~ 27th March 1961 ~
Regulus is the heart of the lion headcanon 2!
Birthday is the same day as James’
Sirius makes jokes that his two second favourite people share a birthday (the first is obviously Remus)
James and Reggie alternate what they do on their birthday, but usually end the day cuddled up on James’ bed talking about quidditch
After James graduates, Regulus is invited round for their birthday (as well as all their friends obviously)
Euphemia and Fleamont absolutely love Reggie, they buy him presents and invite him to come over more often after telling him many embarrassing stories about James while James blushes
~ Any Date in May 2061 ~
According to things I’ve seen please don’t quote me on this Regulus is most visible in May
Birthday stargazing with James using cheesy lines and Regulus reciting facts he was taught as a kid as they cuddle under a blanket
Birthday dates to Hogsmead with James, getting many sweets to share in the library later that day
Birthday quidditch matches where James promises not to go easy on Reggie and fucking panics one year when Reggie falls off his broom and ends up in the hospital wing
James just freaks out and refused to leave Reggie’s side, even after being told everything was fine
James and their friends end up bringing duvets and pillows down so they don’t have to leave Reggie alone
Remus and Lily find a spell to project muggle films on the wall for all of them to watch Regulus, Sirius and Mel are fascinated
~ 31st August 1961 ~
No one knowing when Regulus’ birthday is because it’s already happened the day before they go back to school
James is outraged when he finds out that the Marauders have never been able to celebrate his birthday in school
So they start making the first day of school Reggie’s honorary birthday with a giant sleepover in the Gryffindor common room
So many baby Black jokes, which Reggie fucking hates
‘Sirius I’m fucking taller than you, if anyone’s the baby it’s you’
First time they celebrate his birthday outside of school, James takes him to see a quidditch match, then to the local pub to see the rest of their friends, and finally back to their flat for Reggie to read the books he got for his birthday
~ Literally Any Date From September 1st to August 31st ~
I tried to find a correlation between November 3rd (Sirius’ birthday) and the Sirius star
Couldn’t really find anything (again I don’t know astronomy so please feel free to prove me wrong if you do!)
Only thing I saw was that Sirius is apparently more visible in Winter, but November is technically in Autumn so wasn’t really anything with that
By that logic, She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named could have made his birthday any date with no reasoning but we’re not gonna accept that
So any date for his birthday is acceptable!
SPEECH - SIRIUS, JAMES, REGULUS
Feel free to comment which birthday you prefer, even if it isn’t one listened! And sorry if I got some astronomy things wrong, please correct me if I’m wrong and I will happily edit this post accordingly!

‘Thought I'd end up with Sean
But he wasn't a match
Wrote some songs about Ricky
Now I listen and laugh
Even almost got married
And for Pete, I'm so thankful
Wish I could say "thank you" to Malcolm
'Cause he was an angel’
one day, when you’re young, your mother tells you, ‘there’s lots of fish in the sea, but you have to wait for the right catch’ or maybe that was just your deranged mother. normally, you thought all of that was bullshit. a slytherin princess should never be mistreated, someone whomst you honour and adore with all in your beating heart; turns out slytherin boys didn’t get the fucking memo.
the only person who did understand was the one and only, regulus arcturus black. but you unfortunately lacked sexual attraction to him so therefore you couldn’t date him, so that was a feigning issue. evan rosier was fit, top of his classes and a quite nice mop of blonde on his head, he was a quidditch player and a pureblood slytherin; so etiquette is to be clearly expected. too other schoolmates, especially the fawning girls of almost every house, he was probably the full package, one of the alpha males that roamed the hallways at hogwarts; oh were those girls the biggest knob heads to exist.
turns out he was just the biggest fucking dick to ever walk the planes of the earth, he ran around with idiots like lucius malfoy— another mistake of the century, and little severus snape; thank merlin, and salazar slytherin themselves you never resorted to him.
‘One taught me love
One taught me patience
And one taught me pain
Now, I'm so amazing
Say I've loved and I've lost
But that's not what I see
So, look what I got
Look at what you taught me
And for that, I say’
normally your first couple of boyfriends should teach you something out of the relationship, maybe what you needed to strengthen for the next time you were in an intimate relationship, like trust, communication, maybe even sexual intimacy.
all these absolute dunces taught you was to pick your boyfriends better, and to stay away from every slytherin male that had ever entered hogwarts. evan— oh, he only taught you that everyone and everything was a priority over you, always the ‘talk to you later.’ and the casual, ‘blowjob?’ comments; absolutely fucking arse. lucius, couldn’t forget his moto in your mind even if you jammed it in your strongly-witted brain that money was power and money over any atom to every exist.
regulus understood, strict pureblood parents but he still understood how to treat a partner. i guess it was nice not picking up every habit of walburger and onion— sorry, walburga and orion, noble heirs of the house of black. yeah, did i mention they were second cousins?
‘Thank you, next (next)
Thank you, next (next)
Thank you, next
I'm so grateful for my ex
Thank you, next (next)
Thank you, next (next)
Thank you, next (next)’
“you could always hang out with my brothers mates, i see them not casually oogling you.” oh regulus, sometimes you did lack the slytherin wit and ambition. he was sprawled on the malachite coloured couch, a pearly white quill fumbled between his slender digits as he started aimlessly into oblivion at the dying out fire in the midst of the frigid common room.
“yeah, let me go hang out with my best friends brothers friends, slytherin haters! such a good idea, reg. maybe they should’ve put you in ravenclaw from that amazing idea!” if you were sarcastic before, there aren’t a non-vulgar amount of words in the universe to describe the tremendous mockery in your tone; as you intensely stared into the crevices of the ceiling while laying on the opposite viridescent sofa.
“merlin, tone down the sarcasm a bit? i was just offering, it’s not like your a pureblood, or a prat.” regulus offered, looking at your form, your elbow now covering your eyes and making recurring heavy sighs every few minutes. “being a half-blood is enough for hatred, regulus, m’dear.” you sighed again, in defeat. hopeless romantic and hated by many, fantastic, am i right?
‘Spend more time with my friends
I ain't worried 'bout nothin'
Plus, I met someone else
We're havin' better discussions
I know they say I move on too fast
But this one gon' last
'Cause her name is Ari
And I'm so good with that (so good with that)’
don’t think, breath and just do what your heart tells you to. fuck that— panic, cry, scream, whatever, be scared. you were gaping at the red mass and overdue of shades, it wasn’t ugly but definitely not the prettiest colour to exist; mixed with mustard yellow. gryffindor students absolutely covered in both. well students, no, james potter, yes.
he happen to be your victim, well friend of sirius; regulus did say after all they oogled you, whatever that meant. you both played quidditch, pretty decent grades, both had good humour, your more so, i mean c’mon you couldn’t find that wit just anywhere, and well you could be best friends. well friends, acquaintances, maybe one, possibly. if only you had the confidence of a leo male, all you needed was to strut over to the damn quidditch field and say something, literally anything.
so that’s exactly what you did, your shoes crunching against the no-longer damp grass, dry after morning dew showers. your bag hanging off of your left arm, your head preoccupied with ways on how to greet someone because slytherin etiquette right now was not the way to go; it would only cause assumptions and stereotypes. i mean who the actual fuck says, ‘how do you do?’ anymore.
‘She taught me love (love)
She taught me patience (patience)
She handles pain (pain)
That amazing (yeah, she's amazing)
I've loved and I've lost (yeah, yeah)
But that's not what I see (yeah, yeah)
'Cause look what I've found (yeah, yeah)
Ain't no need for searching
And for that, I say’
enemies, nope. acquaintances, don’t think so. friends, getting there. close friends, i would say. if someone ever said they saw james fleamont potter hanging around a slytherin they would’ve assumed that someone was knocked upside the head with the biggest beaters bar you could find, but the green and red weren’t that bad of a mix after all.
henceforth, here you were giggling like school girls with james fucking potter right by the black lake. “james, respectfully, stop carrying that stupid snitch everywhere. doesn’t it weigh down your pockets?” you queried the boy who was fumbling with the golden snitch for the past three minutes, flipping his hair so he could knock the brunette tendrils from his eyes while he gaped at you.
you were glowing— the sun at its highest peek, he could’ve been on his knees thanking albus dumbledore in his office for free period; knowing james we would’ve offered to comb his beard and maybe even a shampoo and condition it while he was at it.
your eyes glittered as you chortled at him for dropping that stupid ball for the third time, your hair dancing in the wind like it was a routine, a perfect routine, your teeth glinting at the suns ethereal rays that hit you just right. imagine if james’ foolish cocky mask instead would’ve rejected your offer of friendship that one humid day on the quidditch pitch— he would’ve been the biggest git to ever stride the planet.
‘Thank you, next (thank you, next)
Thank you, next (thank you, next)
Thank you, next (thank you)
I'm so grateful for my ex
Thank you, next (thank you, next)
Thank you, next (said thank you, next)
Thank you, next (next)
I'm so grateful for my ex
Thank you, next
Thank you, next
Thank you, next’
friends, that’s what it was suppose to be. pals, mates, schoolmates, whatever the fuck you called it. it wasn’t suppose to be frenemies, to friends to lovers! you weren’t suppose to notice the navy blue flecks of colour in his cerulean eyes, the way his lips curled in a smile after he caught that silly snitch that blazed the thick sure after a hefty match, the way he brushed the tresses of hair behind your ears when the wind was assaulting your face and you were basically swallowing your hair.
now sitting with him in the library you were mentally stabbing your stygian heart, why men. why do they do things, why do men sometimes have the decency to show sympathy, and partiality with their friends. he hugged you, he kissed your forehead when you felt dejected, james potter went through the slytherin common room to bring you chocolates on your period. which fucking gryffindor would do that, huh? definitely not frank longbottom or fabian prewett.
his hand scathed yours as he pointed at how to make a draught of peace potion, his hand was warm and smooth but only from what you touched— you could see slight callouses forming on the pads of pads palm from broom handling, and the small cracks in his knuckles from the lacking use of lotion. you felt the rapid rate of your heart merely increasing at the minute from the slight touch, a rush of rose clouded your cheeks. this was so embarrassing.
‘One day I'll walk down the aisle
Holding hands with my mama
I'll be thanking my dad
'Cause she grew from the drama
Only wanna do it once, real bad
Gon' make that last
God forbid something happens
Least this song is a smash (song is a smash)’
you were mid flight, smashing a bludger in the direction of the vermillion colours. even when you were immensely sweaty, intensely panting, abundantly tired, and your arm looked like it wanted to fall off he wanted to kiss the energy back into you. james loved winning against slytherin, it might’ve been his favourite thing at hogwarts; but he would murder a pack of death eaters if it meant he got to see your smile when your emerald-clad seeker clutched that small golden ball.
both teams landed, a handshake due for the game to be over after almost two continuous hours of playing and that stubborn ball blazing the air. he meant to walk over there, a hug overdue in his prideful way of saying congratulations but he did not think that he would’ve strided over to your panting figure and clasped your soft cushion lips with his own parched ones from the continuous heaving in his breath.
your lips tasted of peach, hints of mango. your lips dried of chapstick but still smooth— feeling the grooves in your lips, they were puffy and swollen probably from the tremendous amount of times you had bitten your lips in anxiety. your lips disconnected for a moment, suddenly realizing that you had an audience of your fellow slytherins, your enemy gryffindors and not one but two shocked crowds of hufflepuffs and ravenclaws suddenly watching the private scene unfold.
james cleared his throat, looking at your grinning face that was encased between his palms, your face was significantly flushed, your chest moving every millisecond at the loss of breath in your lungs. “good, uh, good game james.”
‘I've got so much love (love)
Got so much patience (patience)
I've learned from the pain (pain)
I turned out amazing (turned out amazing)
I've loved and I've lost (yeah, yeah)
But that's not what I see (yeah, yeah)
'Cause look what I've found (yeah, yeah)
Ain't no need for searching
And for that, I'll say’
cocky, quidditch captain, school prankster, pureblood gryffindor, and head boy. that to the peering eyes of hogwarts was james potter, but he was so much more than that. he was like an onion, gross comparison but for the sake of it you’ll use it, he had layers but everyday it’s like you cried a little less and you peeled just a bit more.
he was benevolent, he guided first years to common rooms and sometimes he studied with fourth year hufflepuffs. he was sensible, sometimes, he helped out madame pomfrey in the healers wing when remus had been injured from a full moon along with any remaining students in the ward from previous incidents, not to mention, you did uncover remus’ ‘furry secret’ and swore to secrecy. and most of all, james was cherishing, he actually did give a fuck when you had a bad day, he stroked your back and hummed you stupid baby lullabies.
i mean could you imagine lucius malfoy and evan rosier humming a girl lullabies when they were upset? celebratory kisses after quidditch, bringing you snacks while you were overwhelmed in school work and actually made an effort in the relationship? they would’ve bought you a pair of red bottoms and called it a day.
‘Thank you, next (thank you, next)
Thank you, next (thank you, next)
Thank you, next
I'm so grateful for my ex
Thank you, next (thank you, next)
Thank you, next (said thank you, next)
Thank you, next (next)
I'm so grateful for my ex
Thank you, next
Thank you, next
Thank you, next
Yeah’
there was infact one thing that your past relationships taught you;
never date a man to ever be put in the slytherin house ever again.

@kielemarie @candy--floss--kid here’s part 2, part one can be found here
The wonderful world of Sweater Weather is by @lumosinlove
This isn’t what you asked for sorry but in my defense you did ask an angst writer for fluff
-----------
Remus is tired of all the stolen looks, the awkward glances they share with each other. He hates the tension that’s separating them, pushing each other away when all he’s looking for is some kind of string that will pull Sirius back to him.
He loves him, of course, he loves him. The further apart they grew it felt like his feelings were getting stronger as if that was even possible. He wanted nothing more than to run back to him, to be wrapped in Sirius’ arms again and feel safe.
But he can’t. He’s not allowed to do that anymore, not allowed that comfort Sirius once brought him. It hurts, aches deep in his chest. He thought the pain would have subsided at least a little, faded as time went on. It had been almost a month since the breakup, but apparently, a broken heart doesn’t mend like broken bones do.
Sometimes time can’t fix certain wounds. It can’t fix that empty feeling that you’re left with after something so normal evaporates with nothing to show as if it was ever there. The one thing you were so sure of, and then it’s just… gone. Taken, and he isn’t really sure if it was real, to begin with.
He thinks of the fight, every time he closes his eyes he can see it.
Every shouted word, Sirius’ cold eyes, not the ones full of love he was so used to seeing. The stony expression that he had when he was staring down Riddle on the ice. He hated the look whenever it crossed Sirius’ face, but when it was aimed at him was surreal.
He wonders if he’s ever felt a pain like this, but then again he’s never loved anyone like this before.
It probably won’t be this easy to love again.
---
Sirius lays in bed at night, staring at the ceiling. His head is swimming with thoughts and what ifs.
They shouldn’t have fought, he shouldn’t have left. He wouldn’t, he said he wouldn’t after the first time. What hurt the most was that when he left, the last thing he heard Remus say was, “You promised.”
It was a whisper, quiet, and broken before the sobs came. Like he didn’t want Sirius to hear but he did, and it took everything in him to not turn around and go back to him. To collapse on the ground next to where Remus was left kneeling with his hands over his face. To hold him, and apologize, and beg for forgiveness.
But he had too much pride for that.
So he left. He turned his back on the one person that ever loved him and left. He drove, considered driving away, just disappearing without saying anything. He almost did as he came to a traffic light. He could turn left, get out of town for at least the night, or, he could go straight.
Going straight would lead him back to his house, where the walls had pictures of him and Remus, and James and Logan, the team.
He built a new life here, one away from the snakes, his parents, his family. He got away from all the people who treated him poorly, with their over the top expectations and Toujours Pur.
He built a life here. And he just threw it all away. God, why was he such an idiot?
---
Regulus watches the world around him fall apart.
The Snakes… Fuck the Snakes. They made him pretend to be someone he wasn’t, trying to mold him to be their puppet. He had to say things about his brother, agree with his parents and their stupid beliefs. He was stuck, trapped, there was no way out.
He didn’t see a way out, lost hope a long time ago that someone would help him. He couldn’t do it on his own.
Then, he got picked for All Stars. More time to spend with Snape. Oh joy, how fun.
He wasn’t looking forward to it.
Sirius was playing. He was picked, of course, he got picked, best in the league and all. But Regulus couldn’t wait to see his big brother. Whether Sirius hated him or not, he didn’t know. He wasn’t sure if he really wanted to know. Either way, he’d take what he could get.
His heart clenched painfully when he saw his brother. His shoulders were tense, eyes steely and cold. Sirius reminded him of Orion, someone he tried so hard to get away from.
It felt like someone stabbed him in the heart, twisting the knife at the hilt when that glare was directed at him. His brother thought he was no better, no better than Snape, or Riddle.
He was wrong. He had to be, Regulus, he wasn’t like them… Was he?
That was then, about a year or two ago. It’s been a year since he was free from the Snakes, from his family. He should have gotten out sooner, should have followed Sirius to Gryffindor. When they were younger, before the NHL, they’d talked about staying together. Never be separated by anyone.
He broke that promise, and now he wanted to make things right. Now that he could.
Remus and Sirius were fighting. Regulus could sense it even if he wasn’t there during it. Remus stopped coming over, every smile and laugh that came from his brother seemed less genuine. More forced like he was trying to cover something but didn’t want to shut down completely.
In some ways, this was worse.  Seeing his brother overwork himself with hockey, his boyfriend, and his social life. Trying to maintain this fake face, and mask all the time was draining him quickly.
Regulus found a life here, his own found family, well Sirius’s found family, but they used to share everything, this was no different. He was accepted here, and while he still felt somewhat like an intruder, he was so much more comfortable than he ever was with the Snakes.
And if his brother wrecks this with letting the one thing that mattered the most to him slip through his fingers… He’d be damned if he allowed that to happen.
---
Regulus sighed, cornering Sirius in the kitchen. James had gone home once Harry started getting fussy, promising to be back later. Sirius had finally emerged from the rink, in the search of food.
He looked dead on his feet, the bags under his eyes only got darker as the days went on.
“How’s Remus?” Regulus winced at his own insistence, way to be subtle, he thought. Sirius seemed to hesitate for a moment, his eyes going wide from where he was leaning against the counter, a large portion of his sandwich still shoved into his mouth.
Sirius looked at the former Snake skeptically, chewing slowly to stall for time.
Regulus shifted uneasily on his feet as Sirius finally swallowed.
“He’s fine.”
“Bullshit.” He learned years ago that the only way to get Sirius to talk was to push, and keep pushing until he broke, and the words tumbled out like a damn breaking.
“I said he's fine, kid.” Sirius’s voice was sharp, leaving no room for arguing. Although Regulus had a thing for being where he wasn’t wanted didn’t he?
“Okay, I call bullshit on that.” Regulus kept his voice composed, strong, even though he wanted to shrink away from his brother’s stare.
God, it reminded him so much of their father.
“I don’t know what you want me to tell you kid, or what you want to hear, but he’s fine.” Sirius took another bite of his sandwich.
“I don’t know, maybe the fucking truth Sirius?”
“That is the truth.”
“Fine.” Regulus pushed himself off the counter, taking a step closer to him. “How are you then?”
“I’m fine Regulus, spectacular even.” Sirius dropped the face, opting to shut down rather than fighting back with his fake stupid mask.
“Tout est putain de fantastique et super ma putain de vie est parfaite,” Sirius rambled off, sighing and putting his sandwich down again. “I’m fine.”
“Sure you are.” Regulus drawled.
“I’m fine,” Sirius said again. His voice wavered, like he was trying to convince himself more than Regulus.
“Sirius…” Regulus took another step forward, and Sirius broke. The words tumbling out of his mouth faster than he could register.
“We broke up. Me and Remus broke up. We fought, it’s over, I fucked it up, I fucked it up. It’s my fault, my fault. He was the best thing to ever happen and I fucked up, I left again. I promised I wouldn’t and I did, I’m such an idiot. Merde, je suis tellemente stupide.”
“Sirius.” Regulus held his hands up for a moment, trying to get the word vomit to stop for just a moment. They broke up? When, how, why?
Regulus always thought that they were perfect for each other, the way his brother looked at Remus made that clear. He’d never looked so fondly at someone before, like he’d cross oceans for them, or move mountains just to make them happy.
And somehow that connection, that bond, was broken.
“I told him I hated him mon étoile.” Sirius’ words shook him back, out of his thoughts. Sirius was probably looking for more answers than he was.
---
Regulus left when James showed up. The two had been better brothers these past few years than Regulus and Sirius had.
Sirius was grateful to see James, but it didn’t make it any easier. Harry wasn’t here this time, Lily had kept him home to let Sirius and James talk by themselves. Harry was a good buffer sometimes, but they didn’t need one right now. They just need them, two brothers to talk.
He was happy for that, as much as he wanted to see a mini version of his best friend, he didn’t want Harry’s uncle Padfoot to break down in front of him. The kid was too young to have to think about everything wrong in the world. He didn’t want to take Harry’s childhood from him like his was taken.
He was feeling somewhat better, the pain was still there. The emptiness engulfed him and made him feel alone, back to step one. He didn’t want to have to start over again, with a new team, in a new place.
He didn’t want to start over with anything or anyone. He wanted Remus, not someone who would be second best. He’d fight, he’ll fight for him. He can’t lose this easily, he won’t give up.
---
Remus has been crying all morning. He’s been staying at the Potters in their guest bedroom. He knows he should leave, he’s imposing on their family.
But he just can’t find it in him to go back to his apartment. Usually, he’d stay at Sirius’s but lately, he’s found himself here. It’s silent when he walks around. When he curls up on the sofa under the heavy wool blanket he loves so much, it still feels like something is missing.
As much as he tries to pretend everything is normal, it isn’t. It hasn’t been for a while now, and it’s so annoying because he just wants to fix it. But they don’t teach you how to mend a broken heart when they teach you how to heal a broken bone.
He wants to go back to the apartment, but he just… can’t. He didn’t even want to be there in the first place. It held too many memories.
In the kitchen, his first real phone call with Sirius. When he was making dinner, Sirius called him, and they talked. Really talked.
His room. Where they woke up together and fell asleep together. They made memories there, the way he laughed when Sirius was trying to brush his teeth and take his shirt off at the same time.
They also made memories doing…  other things there.
Of course, there was also the spot that he called his parents, coming out to them and Sirius held his hand the whole time. Hell, even the porch, the front door, and the entry room meant so much to him. When Sirius came to him after the holiday, he stayed with Remus instead of going back to his house or James’s of Dumo’s.
Because he trusted him, he loved him. And Remus lost him.
They officially called it off yesterday. Remus told him from the beginning that he wasn’t going to wait forever. And he didn’t. If Sirius wasn’t going to come around and instead try to distance himself without telling Remus, what he did wrong, he wasn’t going to wait.
He’s waited enough.
---
Remus steps out of the guest room. He didn’t leave very much, opting to curl up on the bed and wallow rather than leave. He came out for meals, normally skipping breakfast. He’s thanked James and Lily numerous times and apologized for staying for so long. They brushed him off with a “stay as long as you want, we care about you, Remus.”
Lily was sitting on the couch in the main room, TV playing some kids show for Harry who was playing with blocks on the ground in front of her.
“Hey, Re.” Her smile is gentle like Remus is fragile. And if she makes any sudden movements he’ll break. He hates that they see him as breakable, then again he did spend the last few days crying in their guest bedroom, so it was only fair.
“Hi Lils,” he puts up a smile. A fake one, but it’s the best he can muster. “I just wanted to say thanks for, you know, letting me stay.” He gestures vaguely with his hands.
“Of course Re! I’m your best friend.”
Remus’s smile is a little more genuine this time. He loves Lily, not like he loves Sirius but she’s up there.
“Yeah, you are. Um, I just wanted to tell you that I was going to go stay with my parents for a bit.” It came out as a question, his voice going slightly higher at the end.
“Oh.” Remus winced. Lily looked... surprised, but also like she wanted to hug him and not let him leave. “Are you sure? I mean you could stay here, we don’t mind, really.”
Remus shook his head before she even finished talking.
“It’s okay Lils, I already called. I’m flying out tonight at 8:00. I just wanted to say thank you for letting me stay so long. I’ll be back before the season starts again.”
“Of course, do you need any help packing or anything?” She shifted, moving to stand up. Again, Remus shook his head. He gestured to the small duffle bag he was holding, everything he had with him at the Potters stuffed inside.
“I’m good I think. I have stuff there.”
Lily gave him a sad smile, moving forward to hug him.
“Okay,” she mumbled. “Be safe.”
Remus smiled, wrapping her arms around her. “I will be. I think… I think I’m going to go back to my place before I do.” He bit his lip hard against the rising emotion that was bubbling up.
Lily looked at him one more time, her eyes flitting over his face, searching for something. “If you’re sure…”
“I am Lils,” Remus sighed, “I have to go back sometime right?” He tried for a laugh, but it didn’t work.
Lily nodded slowly before sighing again. “I’ll walk you out.”
Remus heard Harry asking “Where unc’e moony going?” as the door swung shut behind him with a soft click.
---
The drive home was silent, empty. His heart ached and couldn’t help the tiny bit of hope that Sirius would be there when he got home. He wanted to go back, see what he did wrong and fix things.
He wanted that security he got when Sirius was there with them. When it was just them, there, together in the moment, without a care in the world. The way how when Sirius smiled like that and the laughter that they shared echoed off the walls
He wanted the memories to mean something. Not be thrown away because of an argument. They were adults, they could hopefully work past this. He was willing to try.
But he also wanted fresh air. He wanted to be away for a while. Hopefully, he could stay home with his family, catch up with his little brother. He wasn’t looking forward to answering questions from the media when he got back.
His breath caught when he thought about it. This was supposed to be break. Their break to spend together. They should be doing things together like the movies, going on trips, hell they should be at Sid’s getting pizza. And Sirius should be making fun of the way he gets pineapple on it but instead, Remus is alone, again.
He’s tired of putting his heart out there just for someone else to take it and stomp all over it.
---
“How is he?” Sirius asks, his eyes are flitting over James’ face to make sure he doesn’t lie.
Sirius knows Remus is at the Potters. He’s known since he got the call from James saying that Remus turned up, crying and a mess.
“He’s… He’s not doing so good, can’t be in much better shape than you are.” James winces.
“I’m fine,” his words are harsh.
“Mhm, and I’m a cactus.” Sirius furrowed his brows, starting to feel annoyed by his chosen brother. “Oh sorry, I thought we were saying things that aren’t true.”
Sirius huffs. “Je vais Bien.”
“Keep telling yourself that.” James leaned forward from where he was sitting, elbows resting on his knees as he fixed Sirius with a hard look.
“Did you want to break up with him?”
“Wow, way to be blunt Potter.” Sirius scoffed, looking away from James. He didn’t want to meet James’ eyes and let him see that he was slowly breaking inside.
“Answer the question.” His tone was the same, harsh.
“What does it matter? It doesn’t make a difference. Ce n'est plus comme s'il m'aimait plus.” Sirius whispered the last part, James wouldn’t understand anyway.
“I don’t speak French asshole.”
“I’m aware.”
“Rude.”
“Fuck off. And answer the question, because it makes a difference.”
Damn, Sirius was actually starting to feel a little better. The banter was normal between them, an odd thing that made him feel safe. He doesn’t understand why, but there’s a lot of things he doesn’t understand. Like why his parents are the way they are, why Grayback just had to tear apart Remus’ shoulder… Remus…
“No.” He whispered. “Non, I didn’t want to break up with him.” The dam broke.
James was there in a second, tugging Sirius’ hands from his face from where he curled in on himself.
“Then why did you?”
“He wasn’t happy. I had to let him go.” His voice broke, he refused to let the tears fall.
“Were you happy?” James’ voice took a new gentle tone.
“I had him. I had no reason to not be happy.”
James made a sad noise, gripping Sirius’ hand tighter.
“Then fight for him, go after him. Show him how much you love him, Sirius.”
“But what if he doesn’t want me anymore?” Sirius sounded so sad, and yet still refused to look James in the eye.
“Look at me Pads.”  Sirius took a minute to comply. “He still loves you — don’t roll your eyes at me — he does. But you can’t expect him to do all the work.”
“I’m not! I want to fight, I want to put in the work. I just want Remus back.”
“Look.” James sighs and runs a hand through his already untamable hair. “He’s at my house, if you really want to fix it come home with me, go talk to him. Okay?”
Sirius is nodding before he finishes talking, “Oui, yes, I want to see him, please.”
James nods. “Okay.”
---
They were too late.
He remembers Lily opening the door with a sad smile on her face.
They were too late. Remus already left. His plane would leave in half an hour. He won’t make it in time. He missed his chance.
That doesn’t mean he won’t try.
He was out the door before he could think twice about it. James’ keys in his hand as the engine roared. Everything was a blur, the lights on the cars merging together as he sped by.
He hovered over the speed limit the entire time, swerving in and out of cars a bit recklessly. It didn’t matter to him, not if it meant he got to Remus on time.
He parked somewhere by the airport, he doesn’t remember where, it’s not important.
He practically runs into the airport, buying the first ticket he sees and throwing money at the cashier. He doesn’t wait for the change.
He curses at the long line in security, praying to whatever higher gods out there that he’ll make it in time.
He checks his watch. 19 minutes. He wasn’t going to make it.
Shit shit shit
12 minutes. He’s hardly moved.
8 minutes, he’s made progress.
3 minutes. He’s not going to make it.
0 minutes. He missed it.
Sirius stares at his watch, no.  He missed his flight, Remus was gone. It was over.
He considers turning around, leaving, and giving up. He’ll go home and train. Shot after shot, trick after trick. He’ll play until he can’t anymore, shoot until the stick is falling out of his numb hands. He’ll—
“Sirius?”
And suddenly time stops. He looks up at the familiar voice, trying to find his face in this crowd full of people.
“Re?” And Remus nearly sobs. He hasn’t heard that voice directed at him in so long. He finds those stormy grey eyes from across the huge lobby and suddenly nothing matters but him.
He allows himself to hope, hope that Sirius still wants him.
Sirius spots him, a wide grin stretching over his face, and before he knows it Sirius is trying to get out of line, and he’s running towards Remus, running towards him and doing his best not to run into people but honestly who cares?
Why would he care when Remus is right here and he’s back. He hasn’t left yet. Why hasn’t he left yet?
Sirius finally made it out of the stupid queue line and ran. He ran as fast as he could, almost slamming into Remus when he went to give him a hug.
“Baby, I’m sorry.”
“Mon Loup, I love you.”
They both laughed, their faces close enough to feel each other’s breath. Remus’ little puffs of breaths as he laughed nearly melted Sirius’ heart.
“I love you too,” Remus whispered, his chin tilted up to look at Sirius.
And Sirius could have sobbed in relief, attacking Remus’ face in small bursts of kisses while cupping his face in his hands. It didn’t matter who was around, not when he had Remus.
Things were far from perfect, but they could work through it.
“I thought I missed your flight,” Sirius whispered. Remus smiled a little timidly, pressing a kiss to the tip of his nose.
“It got delayed.” Sirius smiled so wide his cheeks hurt.
“It looks like the universe is on my side today then.” Remus laughed, shaking his head.
“You and your crazy superstitions I swear.”
Sirius only pulled him closer.
---
Things were a lot better. It had been a few weeks since they met at the airport. Sirius couldn’t express how happy he was that his flight happened to get delayed that day.
He couldn’t express how happy he was that Remus let him back in. That he didn’t give up on Sirius when Sirius was giving on on himself.
They had talked since then, both apologizing profusely the entire time. They stuck close by each other, not wanting to be pushed apart again.
They have to send James and Lily a thank you card now don’t they?
---
Remus is falling harder than he did before. He values all the little cute things Sirius does so much more now that he’s lost them once. The way he fidgets with his fingers when nervous, or cuddles up closer to Remus when he thinks he’s asleep.
He loves the small flecks of brown and blue in Sirius’ eyes. He loves the way Sirius hugs him after a win, holding on as tight as he can whispering, I love you, we did it, in his ear.
He’s definitely falling hard, and he’s okay with that. He doesn’t think he could love Sirius more than he does right now.
But then again, when he wakes up every day he’s proven wrong isn’t he?

On making you happy. Part 7
Harry Potter AU- Marauders Era
Link to Part 6
Pairings: Regulus x Reader
Rating: M
____
I’m going to kill him!
It was the first thought that came to your mind as your eyes opened.
He’s a dead man.
You were mad and ready to kick Regulus’ butt. Forget the fact that you were 8 ½ months pregnant and Regulus would definitely be able to move faster. You were going to kick his ass and make him feel some of the misery that you were feeling. It had been almost a month since you had seen Regulus. In your mind, daily letters and phone calls weren't the same as seeing your husband. It also didn’t matter how many times Regulus told you that what he was doing was to ensure a clean getaway to Paris.
Whenever Regulus would mention the “promise” of going away to Paris, you hung up or changed the subject. If he didn’t know that you didn’t believe a word that was coming out of his mouth at the time...he sure did now. Why he was still bringing it up was enough to make you want to strangle him.
“Dude, I wouldn’t even say the P-word to her. No, not that P-word you perverted little prick! I mean the place in France.”
It took all you had not to burst out laughing when Sirius answered the phone the night before after you hung up on Regulus. Sirius didn’t care to tell Regulus that he was an idiot for missing your pregnancy. In fact, he did it about twice a week. Sirius was going to make sure that his little brother knew exactly how selfish he was being and how heartbroken you were.
Had it not been for Sirius, Remus, James, and Lily, you weren’t sure how you would have held out as long as you had. In the beginning, you weren’t sure how you would handle being friends with the lot of them. Now there were no other friends that you would want to have in your life.
Heaving yourself out of bed, you made your way downstairs. Remus and Sirius were busy arguing over something trivial as Lily held out a small cup of tea with a smile.
“What are they arguing about now?”
You asked as Lily joined you on the other side of the counter.
“Keanu Reeves.”
Both Lily and yourself gave each other matching scowls about Remus’ ridiculous crush on the American actor that, for whatever reason, bothered Sirius beyond all reason.
“It's early for that? Was Remus watching Speed again last night or something?”
“Yes, he was!”
Sirius snapped in your direction. Remus held his hands up defensively.
“Y/n, help me out here.”
Sirius shook his head.
“Nope, she’s on my side!”
Remus’ mouth dropped.
“She hasn’t even said anything in your defense.”
“She doesn’t have to!”
You drank your tea quietly before speaking.
“I am not on anyone’s side. The last time that I fell in love with some good looking guy I ended up pregnant and contemplating stabbing said guy in the face.”
Sirius grinned. He was loving your savage attacks on his brother and was making a list to share with Regulus to prove just how sassy you were.
“I’m glad it wasn’t me that got you pregnant.”
Sirius chuckled. You put your tea down, giggling at the expression on Remus’ face.
“Yeah, me too. The three of us would be in one strange relationship. Something tells me that Remus isn’t much of a sharer.”
You smirked at the expression on Remus’ face until a sharp pain shot through your body. Wincing, you put your hands on either side of the counter and silently waited for the pain to disappear.
“You okay?”
Sirius asked, nervously. You shook your head.
“I think my water just broke.”
All of the color drained from Sirius, Remus, and Lily’s face. Lily quickly resumed her calm composure.
“Sweetheart, sit down. Remus, go find James. I’m going to go find Y/n’s bag. Sirius, get a hold of your brother.”
You sat down trying to remember the ridiculous breathing technique that Lily had shown you. Sirius quickly knelt down beside you on the floor.
“Need some water? A blanket? Want me to kick my brother’s ass?”
You nodded, for the last one.
“Yes, kick his ass. I don’t think that I am going to have this baby.”
Sirius’ panicked expression turned to confusion. He blinked a few times before scratching his head.
“Y/n, I don’t know what my brother or mother have told you but I don’t think it works that way.”
You smiled through your agony.
“This world’s too cold. Too cold and too angry for a baby to be born...if I was any kind of mother I would have never considered having a child right now.”
Sirius reached out and wrapped his hand around yours.
“Look, maybe it's what we all need? I mean, yeah, this world isn’t a great place but there are good things in it. This baby can be one. I really need you to have this baby because I have uncle things to do that I have already preplanned.”
Sirius was thrilled when you smiled. The two of you had developed a special bond that Sirius had never expected to have. Until this point, Sirius always saw you as the little girl who tagged around with his brother. Now, Sirius was relieved to say that you weren’t as twisted and backward as other purebloods in his family. You had a heart. A heart and a mind of your own that clearly realized how wrong Voldemort really was.
“You’re right. This is a good thing. We should probably get to the hospital before this baby decides to come.”
Sirius jumped up.
“Hell yes! I am not about to deliver any baby!”
A few hours later…
You sat in the hospital bed trying to concentrate on anything but the pain going through you. Lily lovingly stroked your hand while Sirius continued to try to get a hold of Regulus.
“This little fucker isn’t answering.”
Sirius said in almost a panic. Remus stood up and gently took the phone from Sirius.
“You should sit down and calm down while you're at it. Y/n needs some peace.”
Both men glanced over at you. You winced as another contraction hit.
“I am never having sex again!”
You hissed. Sirius quickly turned to Remus.
“Remus, find my brother. I told Regulus I would help keep her safe. I’m the fun uncle. I never said anything about going through labor with her.”
Remus disappeared from the room as Sirius turned and sat back down. Had you not been in so much blasted pain, you would have made a comment about the panicked expression on his face. He was no longer “cool calm Sirius Black.” Now he was about one stone short of going crazy.
The nurse that came into the room looked like she loved her job about as much as you loved feeling like you were being torn in two. She checked your vital signs without much as a word.
“I really need to push.”
You said, meeting her gaze. The nurse shook her head.
“The doctor isn’t on the floor yet. You will have to wait a few moments.”
You fought the urge to push as she walked from the room for just a moment.
“She’s a toad of a woman.”
You muttered to Lily, who was looking annoyed herself. The nurse came back in with a clipboard in one hand to finish her notes.
“Lady, I need to push...like now!”
You snapped. The nurse gave you a displeased expression.
“You will be just fine.”
“Please don’t make me wait any longer. You don’t need a doctor. You’ve got this. You can do it.”
You said, hoping to sound reassuring. Sirius jumped up, having enough.
“You there, blondie! Go find that doctor or for Merlin sakes’ me and red here (scowl from Lily) will deliver this baby ourselves.”
By the time Remus came back after playing phone tag with Regulus, Sirius sat outside of the hospital room looking pale as a ghost.
“Sirius, what’s wrong? What happened? Is Y/n okay?”
Sirius looked up.
“Did you find my brother?”
Remus nodded, sitting down and took Sirius’ hand in his.
“I did. He’s on his way. Sirius…”
Remus started as Sirius cut him off.
“He owes me. Regulus owes me big!”
Remus was still confused. Had something happened? Was the baby okay? Were you okay? What exactly did Remus miss?
“Sirius, you aren’t making any sense.”
Sirius took a deep breath.
“ I watched Y/n give birth to my niece. There isn’t anything grosser than that. That is why I am glad that I bat for the same team because I do not want to see that again.”
Remus was silent for a moment.
“The baby is it okay?”
Sirius nodded.
“She’s fine. Y/n is fine. I, however, am not fine.”
Remus had to resist the urge to laugh. Now that he was positive that everyone was okay; he could focus on his poor boyfriend who looked ready to vomit.
“What did you expect, Sirius?”
Sirius looked up.
“Not that. I couldn’t leave her though. Lily handled it like a champ. I think I screamed a few times.”
Remus couldn’t help it. He was laughing now. The expression on Sirius’ face made him laugh harder.
“Yeah, laugh it up.”
Sirius hissed as one of the other nurses stepped out.
“Excuse me, but are you the child’s father?”
Sirius shook his head.
“Oh, hell!”
“I’m the father.”
Both Remus and Sirius spun around to see Regulus. The poor guy was about as pale as Sirius. Sirius immediately gave his brother the biggest death glare as Remus turned back to the nurse. Thank Merlin, this one had a better personality. Remus internally was thankful that Regulus didn’t witness the other woman’s horrible attitude. He would have probably used the cruciatus curse on the old hag.
“Can you give us a moment, please?”
Remus asked the older woman. The nurse nodded and walked away with a grandmother-like expression.
Regulus finally met his brother’s gaze.
“I missed it, didn't I?”
Sirius nodded, sinking back down into his chair. He put his hands back over his eyes as if he was fighting a wave of nausea.
“Yep but I sure didn’t. You owe me big, you little shit.”
Regulus didn’t say anything for a moment. Sirius didn’t have to look up to know that his brother was panicking internally.
“You watched?”
“I really had no choice. I wasn’t going to let Y/n go through that alone. Just so you know, she has already decided that you are never going to touch her again. She’s convinced that sex is bad.”
Regulus sighed. He wasn’t going to play into Sirius’ games. At the moment, Regulus wanted nothing more than to kick his own butt. He wasn’t supposed to miss this! Regulus was supposed to be there with you. He didn’t want you to go through having a baby alone as Walburga had. Orion didn’t have the presence of mind to even take the rest of the day off. Now here Regulus was being the exact same way.
“How is Y/n and the baby?”
Sirius sighed.
“Fine. Y/n is resting. The baby is fine too. She’s a little small. You may want to put a bell around her neck or something so we don’t lose her.”
Regulus glared at his brother.
“She isn’t a dog.”
Sirius shrugged.
“Well, we have to find some way to take care of her. You aren’t going to be around. Hell, you weren’t here for the pregnancy so why change now?”
Remus quickly put a hand on Sirius’ arm to signal for him to shut up. Regulus’ eyes widened as he kept his attention laser-focused on his brother. Remus was worried that the younger boy was going to start throwing hexes in the middle of the hospital.
“We should stop.”
Remus said, quickly. Regulus, however, wasn’t ready to back down. He already felt shitty enough about missing his daughter’s birth. Sirius’ venomous words were the last thing that he had time for.
“Shut the fuck up, Sirius! You don’t know what I have been dealing with over the past few weeks!”
Sirius jumped up.
“You need to apologize to Y/n! All that she has wanted during this whole ordeal was you. You think that all of this was you doing some amazing shit but it's just been you being selfish. You haven’t changed, Regulus. You are still the selfish little self-absorbed brat that you have always been. Y/n and Elara are going to be the ones that suffer because of it. Fuck you.”
Sirius turned and stormed off without another word. Remus blinked a few times before turning to Regulus. He stood looking at his feet with angry tears in his eyes.
“Come with me.”
Remus said, gently. He knew that Sirius would probably be annoyed with him for showing Regulus any bit of kindness at the moment but Remus couldn’t just let the boy cry.
Regulus’ eyes rolled up to Remus. He was clearly guarding himself against whatever Remus had to offer.
“Are you going to start in on me too?”
Remus shook his head.
“It won’t do me any good besides, you feel like shit enough as it is.”
Remus motioned Regulus to the hospital room. The room was quiet and dimly lit as Regulus stepped in. His eyes immediately went to your sleeping form. You looked like a doll lying in the hospital bed. Guilt was putting the feelings that Regulus was feeling mildly. He was morbidly depressed and if Voldemort suddenly popped out of nowhere and killed him, Regulus wouldn’t be too upset.
“I am fucked.”

Bubble Ideas
I’m not exactly sure how the Bubble works so sorry if anything’s wrong.
Mentions of COVID-19, and the weird gruesome true versions of Disney movies that are kind of really creepy
Remus stayed away from Sirius and stayed with the teams stuff because he didn’t want to risk it.
But James called him and said that Sirius hadn’t been sleeping well so he moved up to Sirius and James room.
James spends more time in everyone else’s room because; They. Won’t. Stop. Making. Out.
Someone had the genius idea to put the Lions and the Snakes together in the same hotel.
(They know it’s based off geography but it’s still pretty dumb)
Breakfast is great fun. The amount of death stares as they shove cereal forcefully into their mouths entertains the staff.
Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw are also there but they have the common sense to eat at a different time.
Greyback was drafted to the Snakes.
He ‘greeted his old friend’ in the hallway by grabbing his ruined shoulder and squeezing hard.
The team jumped him.
Remus went into his room and threw up. Sirius and him spent the rest of the day in the hotel room.
It hurt to move his shoulder for the rest of the time spent in the Bubble.
Sirius forced him to have Moody check it out.
He had torn it very slightly.
The team jumped him again.
They had to pull Sirius off before he killed him.
The Snakes and the Lions settled the rivalry once and for all by seeing who could get the most tickets in the hotels impressive arcade.
Sirius was surprisingly good at games off luck considering his past.
He got most of the teams tickets on the Monster Ball Drop (James laughs weirdly everytime he hears the name) game. And the spiny frog wheel.
The staff kept having to refill each game with tickets.
Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw put the tickets in the machine just to be sure.
The teams had never been more stressed. Not even during games.
The entire hotel staff, coaches, medics, and trainers were there.
The Lions won by 248 tickets.
They got 872,527 tickets.
The Snakes got 872, 243.
They both got a disco ball for their locker rooms and at least 700 inflatable hockey sticks. The hotel had just gotten them in stock so they took them all.
They wished they had a crowd to give the inflatable hockey sticks to but they donated them to a children’s hospital and children that were suffering from COVID.
They spent the rest on candy, Chinese fingertraps, poppers, and useless trinkets.
They all still went down to the arcade even though they completely wiped it out it was still fun.
The players from other country’s had never seen the popper toys before.
They were terrified of them.
There was so much confusion when the Snakes and the Lions played each other.
No one understood how they fist bumped and high-fived when someone scored or had a good pass.
Instead of shouting actual insults to each other they were joking insults that they all laughed at.
The Lions won. And the Snakes congratulated them.
When asked what happened and why they were all buddy-buddy now. They told them that they won at the archade.
Someone had taken a video of them counting the tickets.
They had already counted the Snakes.
When it passed 872,243 the Lions cheered like they had won the cup.
They all became chill with each other.
The Lions told them about Greyback and Remus (with his permission)
The Snakes excluded him from everything.
Sirius and Regulus reconciled.
All the teams played the Xbox and PlayStation together.
James grumbled about how it’s unfair that Sirius got to have his boyfriend there but he couldn’t have Lily.
Everyone called their wife’s and girlfriends(and a good amount of boyfriends) everyday.
Sirius honestly didn’t know if he would survive going that long without having Remus with him.
The Snakes were pretty homophobic and they all apologized extensively for it.
Everyone agreed that Sirius and Remus were a very, very cute couple.
They were all playing Minecraft in the lobby, Sirius leaning against Remus’s chest. He kept stabbing Remus in the stomach when he went to kill someone.
Sirius made fun of him for reading a book during it. And asked him what it was called.
“The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes sounds boring, love” he teased.
“It’s the new Hunger Games book baby. Let me read it in peace, without getting stabbed every 5 seconds.”
Sirius became addicted to Wendy’s.
Remus was disgusted by the fact that he dipped his chicken nuggets and fires into his frosty until he tried it himself.
They had movie night every night no one was playing.
As much as they denied it they watch chic flicks the whole time and cried during My Girl.
Sirius and Regulus had never seen a Disney movie before.
No one could have that and they had a Disney marathon.
They realized that they had heard the more demonic versions of the stories.
“Wait why didn’t she die?”
“What are you talking about Sirius?”
“No I’m not kidding how can she walk without being in pain, why didn’t the prince marry Ursala and why didn’t she kill herself?”
“What kind of fucked up shit did you hear as a kid?”
They then asked them the real version of every movie.
“Cut their feet of to fit into the shoe. Killed the step mother and served her as food at their wedding”
“Got her pregnant while she was asleep. Had twins, one of them sucked the splinter out of her finger. Fell in love with the dude. The prince was a king and married. Kings wife ordered the baby’s to be kidnapped, cooked, and fed to the king but he didn’t know it was his kids”
“Snow Whites along the same lines. But they got revenge on the witch by making her dance in iron hot shoes until she died at their wedding”
They all agreed that Disney was awful and they could never watch the movies the same way again.
They were also terrified by the fact that those were Regulus and Sirius’s bedtime stories when they were little.
“Have I ever told you I hate your parents?”
“Many times, mon amour”
They swam a lot in the pool.
Sirius was a surprisingly good swimmer.
Sirius and Remus 100% made out in the hot tub when it was just their team at the pool.
O’knutzy was sad that they couldn’t do because Logan’s too loud.
O’knutzy has to bring the two hotel rooms beds together to even slightly fit.

you're okay now
When Sirius crossed that door, he knew he wasn't going to come back, or at least he didn't plan to. No way he was going back to that place; his own hell. After he finally decided he was going to run away from home, he couldn't wait one day more, he escaped that same night while everyone was sleeping, knowing that the next morning when his parents were awake; he wouldn't be a Black anymore. He didn't care that much for his family anymore, only for Regulus. But he had to leave, the abuse, the curses, the words that have been spoken in that house drained every single drop of happiness he had, he felt empty. But now, out of that place, running through the streets, he finally felt like he could breathe again. But It wasn't a pleasant sensation that was taking over him at the same time- it felt like he condemned himself to a certain and doubtless death. Orion and Walburga were going to find him- and kill him. They would torture him until he regretted his decision, but it would be too late since he wasn't their son anymore, and he would die painfully, probably under the eyes of his younger brother. Please, please don't hurt him, he thought. The Potters' house was getting closer.
It was the only place he had, and he knew the Potters loved him more than his own family ever did, that's why he trusted they were still awake to receive him, or at least James. His best friend, his brother- he didn't even know about his plan. And now he was forced to deal with it, and Sirius felt genuinely sorry for not having another place to go. He was scared, alone, and with only his wand in hand. The lights were still on, a miracle in all the misfortune he was having. But he knew exactly what that light meant- only James was awake, probably reading or planning some dumb but still functional strategy for Quidditch. The boy always used those hours when the world was sleeping to fulfill his internal nerd wishes, like reading in silence or studying. Sirius was too scared to use the front door, afraid that Euphemia or Fleamont opened it. They were the loving parents he wished to have, and he didn't want them to see him like this, with tears threatening his vision and his hands trembling visibly. So with all the strength he had, he jumped the fence in the back, heart tumbling against his chest. "Please open, please do, please," he mumbled, knocking on the glass door of the backyard. He used to move with confidence and infinite calm, but now his movements were nervous and clumsy, he tried to call himself, but it wasn't easy when he knew exactly what going to happen if his family found him. A few seconds later James appeared, wand in hand, ready to attack whatever was trying to gain entry to his house. Of course, he didn't expect to see his best friend pale face gesturing through the class, and when he opened, Sirius entered so quickly he almost fell to the ground, still nervous, he tried to speak, but no words came out. "Padfoot? what are you doing here? it's almost one am," James was whispering, trying not to wake up his parents.
Sirius stumbled against his own words. "I... I ran away."
James dropped his wand, his mouth suddenly open, "Oh, Merlin..."
Sirius felt insecure seeing his reaction, his mind was picturing a thousand different and cruel scenarios in his mind. Scenarios where James told him he couldn't be here, where Walburga walked through the door and grabbed his arm to take him back, every scenario worse than the previous one. "I'm... I'm sorry. I had nowhere to go, Prongs! They were sleeping and... since last night... I wouldn't have lasted one day more in that house, it was killing me! I know your parents have their own problems but..."
"But they love you like their own son. You are my brother, Sirius, and you are welcomed here whenever you want. It's just that..." James patted the couch, trying to make his agitated friend calm down a little, and it seemed to work for a minute. Sirius sat down and James took place next to him, "It's just that I was surprised to see you there, in my backyard... no one else knows about this?"
Sirius shook his head. "Not even...?"
"Not even Regulus nor Remus, Peter neither."
James nodded, he noticed how Sirius was still shaking, slowly sinking in the couch as if he was trying to hide from the danger, James hated seeing him like this, so weak and afraid of everything. "Okay... So I will prepare my room, and you'll sleep here, okay? then we are going to see what we can do, I'm sure my parents won't have problems with having you here."
Sirius wanted to trust James's words, but all of that seemed so ideal. What if Walburga came right now to the house and killed his best friend? attacked the Potter's? maybe kill him on the couch he was sitting? his imagination was going stronger with every second that passed, and soon the little calm he gained during his chat with James left him. His eyes were watery again, and his head hurt as if someone was stabbing him, he couldn't control it, he was drowning, he couldn't breathe. James panicked almost as a reflex, sadly, it wasn't the first time Sirius had a panic attack, but that one seemed terrifyingly strong, he was breathing loudly and clumsily, sweat in his forehead. "Sirius, Sirius. I'm here for you, you are having a panic attack. Feel your breath... I'm here."
"I can't... I can't feel it. I'm not breathing."
"Close your eyes, relax your stomach... you are breathing, slowly. Do it with me, okay?"
Sirius tried his hardest to follow James's breathing pattern. He closed his eyes, concentrating on the silence of the place, his friend breathing, his hands holding tight the cushions of the couch.
"There you go..." James was nervous, something was telling him that the panic attack was far from ending, but at least now Sirius was breathing a little bit steadier, "I'm going to try and contact Remus, okay? wait here, keep breathing... I will be back in a second."
Sirius nodded without lifting his sight from the ground. He had to keep it together- it wasnt a good time neither a good place to breakdown. But even after all James's efforts for keeping him were helping, seeing him walking away even for a few seconds made him go into panic mode again. No, Sirius, breathe, he tried to repeat, but his voice was drowned by the sound of choking, he really felt like he was dying.
He heard James in the background, speaking, probably trying to contact Remus. The werewolf had this magic effect on the boy with the raven hair that made him feel calm in a matter of minutes, and seeing Remus would make him feel so much better, knowing that he was close, that Walburga wasnt going to kill him too- because that was probably one of the main reasons that Sirius parents had to end him, their oldest son was gay and was dating a werewolf, a werewolf named Remus Lupin. But with Remus by his side, everything was easier- what if something happened to him? what if during one of his transformations he injures himself really bad? of he gets hurt by another wizard? everything was possible, and Sirius's mind was doing its best job reminding the poor boy that he was no one from now on. Not Sirius Black, only Sirius, forever and ever. He wished his tears drowned him.
"Sirius."
And there was the angel Remus Lupin, with messy hair and wearing his favorite sweater. His gaze was full of worry, and one more time, Sirius felt guilty about making him feel that way, he didn't want to worry his friends- but he was so broken. "Remus..."
Remus crouched himself, his hands on Sirius's knees, "It's horrible what you are going through, love. But you need to breathe, okay? Just like James told you. You can hold my hands."
Before ending his sentence, Remus's hands were already being grabbed by Sirius's. He was squeezing them, but the werewolf didn't seem to mind, he was too focused on pronouncing numbers to guide Sirius breathing, and it was working, surely slowly, but it was.
James was leaning on the door frame, still concerned about his friend but happy seeing two of the people he loved the most on the planet complementing each other so perfectly. In the beginning, he couldn't understand their relationship, but later, while seeing how they stared at each other with so much love he understood. That was love, pure and healthy love that was helping them heal their bruises; both external and internal. But clearly, he felt like he was invading some intimate moment, so he left the room towards the kitchen. Maybe Sirius would like some tea when he was feeling better.
When the attack finally ended, Sirius felt like he could pass out anytime soon, but he was glad his boyfriend was there for him, smiling softly and caressing his knuckles as if they were crystal. He muttered some gentle "thank you" when Remus started cleaning his cheeks stained with tears. "It's okay. Just for you to know, I was still awake when James told me about you. You have not had a panic attack in a long time, I'm really proud of you for being able to deal with it, I can't imagine how horrible it is."
Sirius was drawing the bruises in Remus's hands, smiling softly at their texture, "I missed you, Remus. James also, and Peter too, I haven't talked with him recently."
"I'm sure James will try and contact him when he ends whatever he's doing. I'm not judging, but my tea it's better than his."
Sirius laughed a little and Remus thanked all the powerful wizards he could remember at that moment for seeing his boyfriend finally feeling better. James walked into the room, with two cups of tea in his hands, he sat next to Sirius, giving him one of the cups and the other one to Remus, "Heard you were feeling a little bit better and also heard Remus complaining about my tea-making abilities."
Remus took a sip, "I wasn't wrong."
"Hey!"
Sirius laughed but drank anyway, that's what he needed. Normality, love, his friends, James and Remus bickering in a silent living room, the only one that was missing was Peter, but they would probably reach out for him soon. "I should go and talk to my parents about you staying."
Remus bit his lip, "They won't have problems with that, right?"
James rolled his eyes while he got up from the couch, "You are doubting my parents too much. They love Sirius, and if they could have any problem I would convince them, I'm James Potter!"
"Yes, you are. Now James Potter, would you mind give me and my boyfriend some privacy?" Remus spoke again, arching an eyebrow.
"I will only because I want to. Don't forget this is my house, you lovebirds. I will also ask if Remus can stay."
James walked towards the stairs, smiling softly at his friends. Remus took his place on the couch, and Sirius automatically snuggled against him, being honest, the tea wasn't that bad, but he was feeling really tired. And the werewolf understood the gesture without words, his arm in his boyfriend's shoulders while he hummed to the crickets making noise outside.
"I don't what I'm going to do now."
"We, because you are not alone. We'll figure something out, I'm sure." Sirius yawned, "I love you a lot."
Remus left a little kiss on Sirius's hair, "I love you too. Now, rest, you need to."
The werewolf took the cup out of the boy's hands and left it on the ground, far enough not to step on it later. "You're okay now, Sirius, you're okay."

When I fall in love with you
The rain fell hard around her, seeping into the mushy earth, as she walked fastly from the Forbidden Forest, feet sinking into the wet grass. She clutched her books tightly in the crook of her arm, covered by her black cloak, protecting them from the incessant torrents of water falling from the dark sky. Lily and the girls had told her to come back to the castle with them, but she had insisted on staying longer to help Professor Kettleburn with the escaped Nifflers, using the occasion to ask a few more questions about the lesson. Unfortunately, the weather had turned for the worse, resulting in her rushing through the Hogwarts Grounds, soaked to the bone. She was already nearing the castle, walking along the greenhouses, when suddenly a hand shot out of the door of Greenhouse number 3, pulling her into the warmth and moisture of the glasshouse brusquely. The unknown hand wrapped itself tightly around her throat, cold, bony fingers digging into her soft skin. Another arm wound itself around her waist, restraining her and impeding any movement whatsoever. Thrashing and kicking against her assailant's firm grip, she attempted to free herself, in vain.
"Now, now, Miss Cattermole, there's no need for such violence," hissed Malfoy's voice in her ear.
"What...do you...want?" she choked, barely managing to force the words out of her mouth.
Another foreign, freezing hand slapped her across the face, long nails scraping her skin, knocking off her glasses, which fell on the floor.
"Do not open your mouth, unless spoken to, you filthy little mudblood," seethed a high-pitched, slightly crazed voice: Bellatrix Black.
Straining to see, she finally distinguished four blurry figures, all dressed in black.
"The Dark Lord is rising, and someone like you has no place in the Wizarding World. Unfortunately for you, that means eliminating all of you mudbloods, one by one, until no one remains standing. Consider yourself...collateral damage, if you will," whispered her attacker.
"You...can't do...anything...to me. You will be...sent to...Azkaban," said Finn in a raspy voice.
She was nearly suffocating now, throat raw, as she continued struggling to try and escape.
"You're right," he continued. "We may not be able to kill you, but we can certainly inflict pain upon you..."
***
Black spots danced in front of her eyes as she painstakingly peeled them open. Memories of menacing, blurry, dark figures, cold, cruel voices, and a chokingly tight grip around her throat flashed through Finn’s mind, yet she did not remember much more. She did recall feeling an intense wave of fear though before darkness swallowed her. Her body felt sore and exhausted, searing white-hot pain bursting in sporadic spurts along her rib cage and hips. She whimpered feebly as another sharp pang of pain stabbed her head. Suddenly alert and aware that she might still be in danger and that her assailants probably weren’t far, she scrambled for her glasses. They had fallen somewhere near her, she was sure of it, but only dirt and gravel rolled under her palms. Palming her cloak rapidly, she found her wand instead.
“Accio glasses,” she whispered, waving it briefly in front of her.
The familiar shape of the spectacles glided smoothly into her palm, having been laying seemingly close to her. As soon as she put them on, the world sharpened around her and came into focus, the black spots and kaleidoscopic spectrum covering her surroundings disappearing abruptly. The greenhouse around her was filled to the brim with lush plants with waxy leaves and bright, blossoming flowers, strange spindly bushes, vibrant potted plants with twisting tentacles, and other bizarre species of magical herbs and fungi. No one was in sight, she was thankfully alone. She attempted to stand up, but her weak, shaking legs, nearly buckled under her and she stumbled forward, nearly flying face-first into a cactus covered in purple berries. More pain flooded her knees as she slowly took a few tentative steps. Groaning in pain, Finn propped herself up against a wooden worktop. Her blurry reflection stared back at her from the misty glass of the greenhouse, covered in millions of water droplets. The crystal was barely clear enough to reflect her unusual, stark paleness, her brown grimy locks hanging limply over her eyes, and the reddish, rapidly bluing bruises on her neck left by rough fingers. The same bruises were probably blossoming on her hips too now, judging by the pain emanating from there and spreading through her body. Angry, scarlet, crescent-shaped nail marks cut across her cheek, and a deeper gash sliced through them, blood pearling at its edges and steadily trickling down her cold, clammy face. She rummaged briefly through her pockets, hoping to find a napkin leftover from lunch to slow the blood flow but they were empty.
“Fuck!” She swore loudly in frustration.
The pain appeared to stem not only from superficial wounds but also from magical wounds terror deeply inside her organism. She could not go to Madam Pomfrey even though she probably should as she would ask questions, which would inevitably lead to consequences, and more trouble with whoever her attackers were was the last thing she needed. She did not know any healing spells for this or Glamour Charms strong enough to cover all the damage up and neither was she in a state fit to perform them. Her best bet was thus Marlene, the one with the most magi-medical experience since her mother was a Mediwitch. But that meant facing her friends, and Merlin knew what they would do if they found out about the whole story, especially Sirius. With a heavy sigh and wand at the ready, she cautiously slipped out of the greenhouse, resolving to wait a bit until everyone was at dinner to sneak back into her dorm and speak to Marlene alone.
Outside, curtains of rain kept falling and hammering against the glass roof of the greenhouse, sliding down along the fogged-up panels, but they were thinner than before. The sky, a murky shade of gray when she left class, had darkened considerably, now ink black. Not a single star or ray of moonlight was insight, and the vicious cold seeped past her clothes. She must have been unconscious for half an hour at the very least. With a deep sigh, she began making her way between puddles of sombre water and mud. The Hogwarts’ shadow loomed over her threateningly, and the entrance door seemed so far away, a pale golden brown blur in the distance. Clutching her wand tighter, she finally stepped between the fleeting, lurking shadows of the Courtyard’s columns. A single, lonely silhouette stood in the center of it, near the fountain, appearing anxious as they frantically looked around themselves. All of a sudden, she heard it, like a nervous whisper cutting through the roaring wind and water in her ears, and the pain clouding her brain, her name, being called over and over again.
“Finn! FINN!”
And then it hit her. That tall, lanky frame and those short, brown curls she could barely distinguish in the dim light coming from the castle, it was Remus.
“Remus!” she shouted.
Instantly, the figure turned around, and walked rapidly towards her, almost running.
“Finn,” he exclaimed loudly. “I was...I mean we were worried about you, you disappeared after class.”
His voice was unexpectedly ear-splitting, sending pangs of pain through her brain, making her wince with pain.
“Finn,” he repeated cautiously, more quietly. “Are you alright?”
His Welsh accent, which he usually managed to cover up, cut through his words worriedly.
“I’m fine,” she replied shortly, swiftly backing away into the darkness, wrapping her cloak around herself tightly.
“No you are not,” he chided. “What happened?”
“I said I’m fine.”
Her tone was hard and cold, bordering on mean.
“Nothing happened, I swear, I’m alright,” she whispered. “There is no cause for worry.”
“I am not blind, Finn. I see the cut on your face and don’t tell me you fell,” Remus added, seeing that she was about to protest. “Unfortunate accidents do not leave bruises like that.”
He stared sharply at her neck, a dangerous glint playing in his warm brown eyes speckled with green.
“Who was it, love?” He inquired quietly.
Love. He only used that nickname when he was furious, and every time it shook her, sending shivers down her spine.
“I can’t remember,” she sighed.
“What happened? Please tell me, I just want to help.”
His voice had softened once again, concern written all over his face as he raised a gentle hand and brushed a stray strand of hair covered in dirt from her face.
“I was walking back from Care of Magical Creatures class, and someone attacked me near greenhouse number 3, dragged me inside, and…”
“And?”
“Oh Merlin, I remember now,” gasped Finn. “Please don’t tell anyone, not James, not the girls, and especially not Sirius. Regulus was with them and it will only rile him up, things are already𑁋”
“Finn,” he stopped her. “Just explain to me what happened, I promise I won’t tell anyone.”
“I...I can’t...I don’t want to Remus,” she breathed.
“You know you can trust me right?” He asked, putting a soft but heavy hand on her arm.
The young witch trembled lightly, the small touch sending heat and sparks coursing all over her body. He loomed tall over her, almost dangerously, yet she had never felt so safe.
“I will tell you, I swear. Just...not to now, please.”
“Okay.”
She exhaled sharply, before sitting down on the cold stones. Remus kneeled next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders, holding her tightly, as if to shelter her from any possible harm. On an impulse, she began to hum, her hushed voice barely hearable over the thundering rain falling around them.
When I fall in love
It will be forever
Or I'll never fall in love
In a restless world
Like this is
Love has ended before it's begun
And too many moonlight kisses
Seem to cool in the warmth of the sun
She was very much aware of the fact that the tall boy was staring at her, while she watched the raindrops fall onto the cobblestones, but she kept going.
When I give my heart
It will be completely
Or I'll never give my heart
And the moment I can feel that
You feel that way too
Is when I fall in love
With you
And the moment I can feel that
You feel that way too
Is when I fall in love with you
“Michael Buble? When I fall in love with you?” He smiled.
“You know it?” She said, surprised.
“Yeah, my muggle aunt used to put some on from time to time.”
He paused.
“You sing beautifully, Finn.”

Friday, January 1st, 2021
Greetings, dear reader.
Some of you may have noticed my absence, but I have been hard at work. Either way, my comings and goings are none of your business. If you were to make a report of my work this past month, it would be longer than every past one of yours combined. I hope you all enjoy your holiday gifts. They were all chosen with great care and it took great effort to acquire some of them.
It seems your present to me was enough material for a longer report. I commend you for not being boring in my absence and while I know I should not criticize a gift, it would have been far better if you’d gifted me content for the entire year. Whatever; there’s always my birthday.
Many people have come and gone since we last spoke, too many for me to keep track of, but I regret to inform you that among the people that have left the world was Alastor, the Radio Demon. Where am I supposed to get my entertainment from now that all the world’s resident killers are gone? Unless Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, or James Potter make good on their threats to kill Peter Pettigrew, I suppose that I will have to watch and listen to your silly conversations and arguments instead.
There were a few Thanksgiving get-togethers, though not as many as for the next big holiday that we will cover. Bucky Barnes invited his sister Rebecca Barnes and her boyfriend, Hugo Granger-Weasley, to spend Thanksgiving with himself, his son Leonard “Leo” Barnes, and his girlfriend Angie Martinelli. They had to explain the holiday to Madge Undersee, who grew up in a world where there was no Thanksgiving and for whom a cornucopia was used for more than just food.
Christmas has arrived for the inhabitants of Worlds’ End, and many people have celebrated it in their own ways. I’d tell you about my holiday plans, but I doubt you would approve. Merlin and Morgana, on the other hand, hosted a lunch and dinner for their friends and family and spent the next day sleeping it off. Malachai Atherton explained Christmas to his girlfriend Ty Lee, who had never heard of the holiday but received a present from her boyfriend; she gave him one in return despite not knowing of the holiday, as she was aware this time of year was special somehow.
But not everyone has had a happy holiday. Regulus Black discovered that his daughter, Lyra, had joined one of the many happy ghost-like people living in the portal version of his beloved Hogwarts. I must say, that is a terrible idea of a Christmas gift on someone’s part. I do happily encourage murder, but even I must draw the line somewhere. Sirius Black, after being told by his brother that Lyra had left the world, assumed that either Peter Pettigrew or Narcissa Malfoy were involved as they were aligned with a certain Dark Lord back home. Sirius then grew infuriated at the idea of Narcissa being Lyra’s godmother, and things blew up between the two brothers when he accused Regulus of never changing his ways. Pardon my language, but what an asshole.
For un-holiday-related conversations, look no further than Aviana Pendragon. We have watched her grow up, but it wasn’t that long ago when her younger brother Gaven Pendragon was born. Avi has since felt like her family wants her to be just like her brother, though hopefully a few conversations with her parents and uncle would have made her feel better. If she is reading this, or if anyone needs to hear this—it is always okay to be yourself, whether you are rash and arrogant, quiet and sweet, or just a plain murderer. For example, I know I can be bold and that it can be intimidating to speak with me. I still do not shy away from this.
Meanwhile, there have been quite a few confessions made since people have only been able to speak the truth, both for the better and for the worse. For example, Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste had a fight over a certain little secret (that I know and you don’t), but things have been cleared up between the two now and they are still happily in love. Sir Leon learned a little something about his good friend Sir Gwaine, but they did not fight at all and instead laughed it off. Compared to Marinette and Adrien, it was a rather boring conversation, but it was a conversation a long time coming. Then there was a conversation between Mordred and Merlin about a certain destiny and a certain set of fake memories, but that is all in the past. Now it is time to look to the future, and I can’t wait to see what will happen next. Even if the past did bring along enough drama to warrant several stab wounds.
And where there are confessions, there are also actions. Gorlois has been training the Druid Kara in how to fight and then extended his offer to Callan. After a few days of consideration, she decided to take the former knight up on his offer, and she joined the two in the gym. An anger-prone Druid, a feisty orphan, and a Knight who has renounced his knighthood… What can go wrong? For my sake, I hope several things do.
It has been weeks since his birth, but it is my honor and my duty to announce the arrival of young Micah Aspen Fisher Odair on Finnick Odair’s doorstep. While the victor was talking with his roommate, Rue Gardner, in the kitchen, they heard the soft cries of a baby outside. They brought the young boy inside, and Finnick has been raising him as his son since then. I cannot wait to write his mouthful of a name in future reports.
Finally, let’s move onto the exciting topic of relationships, whether they are familial, romantic, or platonic. Mariah Hunter and Daniel Jackson have been increasingly spending time together, be it watching movies, nursing small cuts on fingers, or preparing for dinners for the two of them to share. For now the two are just friends, but they are a pair to watch for anyone that knows them.
There is a new relationship in town for anyone who cares to read about it. Lu Ten may have been thinking about his feelings for Reagan Reyes for a while now, but staying silent about them was no longer possible. With the truth now being his only option, Lu Ten had no other choice but to say something, which may have been prompted by her painting of him. Thankfully, she reciprocated his feelings, and the two lovebirds kissed and decided to begin a relationship with each other. Now, let us just hope that their families approve. Since Lu Ten’s current family in the world consists of a single firebending cousin who is never happy, they should be fine.
On the topic of budding relationships, young Gaven Pendragon extended the hand of friendship to Kara, someone who has in the past tried to kill his father Arthur Pendragon as well as all the knights that he calls uncles. Of course, Gaven doesn’t know about that, and he likes seeing the best in everyone. I will address Gaven now as I did Aviana earlier—if you are reading this, perhaps it may be best to ask your parents about it. Or better yet, send in a question to me!
Gaven may not be the only tether between the two sides, though. Mordred and Kara, since their (seemingly inevitable) break up, have discussed the possibility of getting back together. As of the writing of this report, nothing has happened yet.
What is more certain is that Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala have gotten back together. Things had grown complicated between them both since she knew what her secret husband had done and what he would come to do, but they’d never stopped loving each other. It was—is—Padmé’s hope that they can find a way to move past whatever he will do in the future and perhaps stop it from ever happening at all. In a heartfelt moment, she exchanged wedding rings with him after not being able to wear them at home. It’s unlikely that change in course of action will happen, but it’s fun to watch everyone try to stop the inevitable, especially in a world like this where you already know what will happen.
Something else we already know for sure is that Jet has moved on from only telling lies to only telling the truth, which made Katara feel uncertain now that she knows that the lying buffer is gone. However, she has still chosen to be with him, and has expressed her happiness to Zuko, who is still happily in love with his girlfriend from the Earth Kingdom, Jin. What made the firebender less happy was the constant ice and snow outside, but maybe he’ll cheer up in the future. Hopefully, he got a winter coat for Christmas.
If you are Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai, it may be a bit hard to be cheery right now. They had to deal with a question of trust once again when Mercury went to wish his Semblance back from the genies of the Genies’ Cave. Back home, this had been stolen by his father to ‘make him stronger’. Emerald insisted on joining him in the caves so that he didn’t get himself killed, and the wish was made. If he had gotten killed, it would have made for such an interesting story. I do love a good death. There was no death, though, leaving us to see what happens in the aftermath of this wish. I hope it’s something exciting.
For the sake of my future reports, I hope the coming year is full of excitement for you.
That is all for my report this week.
Go on, dear reader, and do not forget to share this with your friends!
Your Editor thanks you.

Sirius Black
sirius wanted to be in gryffindor.
well anywhere but slytherin really, anything but the house of his family. gryffindor would be the best because the kid he met on the train said he was going to be sorted there, because it would make his parents the most angry, because he liked the idea of being brave, but it didn’t matter. anything would do as long as it wasn’t slytherin. the hat sat on his head and it saw his arrogance and haughtiness, the traditions that had been implanted in his head since birth but above all that it saw his bravery. his courage. sirius may have been raised a slytherin but he was gryffindor down to the core. he embodied the values of the gryffindor house so thoroughly that the hat didn’t have a moment of hesitation because sirius was black and white, he was left no room for grey. he believed in justice and bravery and was so ready to break free of the shackles of his family. he was so courageous and rebellious and had such a strong desire to be right, and he most often was. & so he was gryffindor.
sirius wanted to be loved.
his family had never loved him but he didn’t need their love. he had the potter’s, who accepted him as a second son. mrs. Potter who fussed over him and adored him, who showed him what a mom truly was. mr. Potter who was kindly and benign, who gruffly called him son. they showed him that parents weren’t supposed to be your captors and controllers but rather your guidance and your friends. that family wasn’t dispensable and that “tough love” wasn’t love. they showed him the meaning of family. he also had the marauders, his second family. peter who was so comforting, supportive and benevolent, like a little brother, he could always make him laugh. James who was in every way his brother, his other half and his best friend, who invited him to share his family when he saw what sirius lacked. he had his moony who he loved as more than a brother, as a lover. but remus wouldn’t accept it because he claimed that nobody would love a monster, that he wasn’t worthy. but sirius showed him that he was broken too and finally, finally he convinced him to give them a chance. & with that chance a love so strong was born. sirius was the stars to remus’s moon, the dog to his wolf, and they were in love, deeply and truly. sirius wanted love and he found it in a group of broken boys who were willingly to share themselves and their families with him.
sirius wanted to leave.
he needed to leave, he needed to leave his parents. he needed to leave the insults and curses and fists they slung at him every break, every summer. he needed to leave so badly but he couldn’t because he couldn’t leave his brother. every trip home was like volunteering for torture, choosing pain. the only perk to coming home was regulus. away from school they could be brothers again, because at school regulus kept pulling away. sirius knew why, he’d seen the other slytherins confronting him in the hallways after they spoke, seen them mess with him, he could only imagine what they were saying. nothing hurt worse than anything knowing he caused it and he couldn’t do anything to protect him. james once had to hold him back from attacking one of regulus’s “friends” who looked like he was being a little too rough when he was “messing around” with him. but at home they were brothers again. regulus wouldn’t defend him against his parents but sirius didn’t expect him too, he didn’t want to see him get hurt, usually it was fine anyways. a couple punches. a few backhands when he was mouthing off. every once in a while white hot spells that felt like fire, that broke his bones and left bruises, by that wasn’t often. and it wasn’t anything he couldn’t handle. until the summer he was 15. until they found out from somewhere (probably bellatrix, she could never keep her mouth shut) that sirius was dating remus. they didn’t even know he was a werewolf. all they knew was that he was a half-blood, and a boy. didn’t sirius understand that he wouldn’t be able to pass along the family name, that he wouldn’t be able to have a child, he could destroy the bloodline, didn’t he care ?! & he said he didn’t, and he told them he was ashamed to be a black, that he wouldn’t want to pass on the bloodline anyways and they got mad. oh they got so mad. his father threw punches until sirius couldn’t feel his face, his mother cast curses that set his body on fire, he heard his bones breaking, crunching. it was agony. you see, they didn’t like to use the crucius curse, that didn’t leave a mark and they loved to leave a mark. they used ancient curses that came from books in the family library, long forgotten by the rest of the wizarding world. they used spells that bruised and bloodied and broke him, that stabbed and scarred him. but then that wasn’t enough and so they did use the crucius curse and he thought he would die. he was thrashing and screaming, begging and crying. the pain was everywhere, it was white hot and agonizing. he couldn’t see or hear or taste the blood in his mouth, he could only feel the pain, nothing else. it might’ve been seconds or minutes or hours, time had no meaning and he just wanted it to stop, just please make it stop. and then finally it did, and sirius was panting and shaking and crying. he looked up through squinted eyes, sweat and blood and tears obscuring his vision but he saw regulus in front of him intercepting the curse and he never felt so much love for his brother. his mother did not share the sentiment, she roared at him, “what’s the meaning of this? do you think we forgot about you !? do you think we didn’t realize that you knew and didn’t tell us?” sirius had never seen her so mad at regulus because usually regulus was golden but now she was shaking with fury. she backhanded him to the floor. sirius wanted to stop her, to protect his brother as he always did but he couldn’t find the strength to move, to speak. his limbs were not obeying him, his mouth would not move. he could only heave dry sobs and shake. and so his mother hit regulus with a crucius curse and his father hit him and they were both screaming and on fire and it was too much. & it stopped and then it started again, and then again. and then three more times. & finally it was over and sirius looked over and caught regulus’s eye and tried to convey his thanks and he thought that regulus caught it but he wasn’t sure because then his father was back and he was carving something into his arm, and blood was everywhere. & his father was saying “now everyone will know what you are” and then he passed out. when he woke up he was in his room and he had no memory of getting there, all he knew was that everything hurt and he had to leave, he had to. he grabbed his bag that was already packed because “just in case” and he stood up and the whole world spun and he nearly fell again because he was pretty sure his leg was broken. somehow he managed to limp to the fireplace, the house was silent and he wondered where his parents were. but then he saw regulus watching from the doorway and they locked eyes and he felt an understanding pass between them. & he told reg he loved him but he had to go because he couldn’t stay he just couldn’t and regulus wouldn’t look him in the eyes so he went to the fireplace and left for the potters and as he was leaving he thought he heard regulus reply but he had no idea what he said, so he spun out of that house that had imprisoned him and vowed to never go back, all he knew was that nothing would ever be the same.
sirius wanted to protect his brother.
after he left regulus was all he could think about, because regulus was 14 and alone with them. because regulus didn’t acknowledge him at all after that night, because sirius watched him slip the letters that he sent him unopened into his trash and he knew that regulus was gone. because regulus wouldn’t look at all when sirius tried to make eye contact with him in the hallways. because when sirius cornered him one day after class, he was unresponsive and didn’t say a word until sirius let him go with a frustrated sigh. because nothing changed the next year when regulus was 15. because he came back with a shadow of a bruise on his jaw and sirius punched the wall after seeing it. because he was hanging out with all the wrong crowd and didn’t have sirius to correct him. because when he was 16 he kept pulling down his sleeve on his left arm and sirius knew what he was hiding, sirius cried that night because his brother was lost to him. because sirius cornered him again and wouldn’t let him go until he saw the mark and sirius cried in front of him, and told him he was wrong and told him he would regret it and begged him to come with him, and regulus didn’t blink an eye. because the next time sirius tried to talk to him alone other slytherins with far too long sleeves and glints in their eyes stood in front of him, and protected him from sirius but sirius was supposed to protect him from them. sirius wanted to protect his brother but it was too late.
sirius wanted everything to be okay.
he wanted the ‘blood traitor’ that had been etched into his skin by his father right before he left, to fade and disappear. he wanted remus to stop recoiling when they touched, to stop thinking himself a monster, to stop thinking himself unworthy of love. he wanted the look of fear that shadowed peters face when he read in the daily prophet about the deaths of former classmates to dissipate. he wanted james to stop writing home everyday to check on his parents, to make sure they were still alive. to stop following lily around in the hallway to protect her from unfriendly curses, hurled at her for the crime of being a muggle born. he wanted the teachers to stop teaching them so many defensive spells, to stop training them to be soldiers. he wanted regulus to stop looking away when he smiled at him in the hallway, to stop lowering his eyes in fear of someone else seeing. he wanted everything to be okay again because they were children and they shouldn’t be harboring so much fear. they shouldn’t been so broken.
sirius wanted a chance to prove he was different.
different from his family, because nobody believed him. they all thought he harbored a slytherin heart under the gryffindor mask, and it hurt him. because he wasn’t like the rest of them. anyone close to him knew that but he wanted to prove it to the rest of the world. he wanted to fight for what was right. so he joined the rest of the marauders in joining the order, in joining that secret organization for defying Voldemort. he was so eager to do what was right. but then slowly everything came crashing down. it was clear they were losing the war, there was more news of death and destruction every single day. at first he had worried about having to battle regulus but regulus died at just 18, fresh out of school. according to sources he had gotten cold feet and backed out, the bloody idiot, the coward. sirius had wept for days. but this was war. james and lily had to go into hiding because the prophecy targeted their son, sirius only got to see Harry a grand total of 7 times before they went into hiding and that wasn’t nearly enough. marlene mckinnon died, Lily’s best friend, Harry’s godmother and peters girlfriend. the war was no longer a joke, it was a reality and they were living it everyday. peter became withdrawn after Marlene’s death and remus was always off on missions in the underground. sirius was worried about him. soon it became clear that there was a spy in their midst and dumbledore suspected remus. when James asked him to be secret keeper sirius said no because he knew if he was he would tell his moony and he wasn’t willing to take that risk. & so peter became the secret keeper and for a while it was okay. & then on october 31st everything fell apart. peter was the spy, he had betrayed lily and James and they died, leaving behind harry, poor poor harry. & only sirius knew the truth. and as soon as sirius arrived at Peter’s hiding place he knew something was wrong and so he took off to James’ house and he saw the the fidelous charm was broken, he saw firsthand the carnage. he walked past the body of his best friend, the very first person besides regulus to love him unconditionally, his brother. he bent down and fixed james glasses, and straightened his clothes, they shouldn’t find him looking like this, but then he heard the baby wailing upstairs and that stopped his heart cold. how was Harry still alive? he sprinted up the steps and into the nursery, the nursery he helped to set up. he saw Lily’s discarded body and nearly wept, because she was so brilliant and bright and she shouldn’t be dead. he turned to the crib terrified of what he would find but he couldn’t see anything, his eyes blurred and the world shook, nothing was right. he didn’t even see harry in hagrid’s arms, his emerald green eyes frightened and a lightening scar splitting his forehead. he wasn’t even aware that there was anyone else there until he heard hagrid’s racking sobs. he walked over to hagrid, he was white and shaking. hagrid, through his own tears, comforted him. & sirius whispered sweet nothings to harry, to this beautiful boy who’s life had just fallen apart in the blink of an eye. he would never let him go, he wanted to take Harry and find remus and together they could protect him. they’d raise him as their own and give him the life he deserved. but then hagrid was talking and he said he had orders from dumbledore to take Harry. sirius wouldn’t have given harry to him if he hadn’t remembered peter. that cleared his mind, he was still distraught but remembering peter gave him a goal, a purpose. he gently handed Harry to back to hagrid and distantly said good bye to Harry promising he would come back for him, but his mind was already far away, thinking about hunting peter. he told hagrid to take his motorcycle, he wouldn’t need it anymore. now all he needed was revenge. he took the mirror they’d enchanted when they were 14 from the dresser, absently looking into it, hoping to look into the past, to find what led to this. all he wanted was remus but he was off on a mission, remus was the rational one. remus always stopped him from impulsive decisions, but remus wasn’t here and sirius was boiling. he had to get peter at any cost.
sirius wanted revenge.
no, he needed it, he needed it like he needed to breath. because fuck it. because he was 20 years old goddammit and he just walked in on his best friend in the whole wide world dead. & so he found peter, he found him and he had every intention of killing him because they were family. & peter destroyed them, because they were brothers and they would die for each other, but peter chose not to. because they were a band of broken boys who found refuge in each other and peter broke that sacred bond. because sirius saw black and white and his whole life he’d dealt with evil and it was all he’d ever known until he met the other marauders and they were the best thing that ever happened to him. & he didn’t understand how peter, peter who hadn’t been raised by bigots, who hadn’t been pressured into joining the dark arts, how peter did it of his own accord. because that was the height of dishonor, and peter deserved to die. sirius had always been better at duels, better at magic but he was upset and distraught and he needed to understand. & so when peter did his little act and blew up the street and chopped off a finger and framed sirius, he couldn’t do anything. he just laughed and laughed, because he was delirious with pain, hysterical with grief, he was without reason, everything that mattered to him was lost. it was just so damn ironic and so he laughed because that was his only option. & they never gave him a trial, because they thought they knew him. because they knew of the blacks and well, he was a black. why would he be different than the rest of his family? nobody challenged it. & so on November 3rd, three days after his life fell apart, sirius sat alone in a jail cell, celebrating his 21st birthday alone. he was all alone with his worst memories, with his darkest thoughts. all he could see was the look in regulus’s eyes when he left him, the abandon and sadness. the first time he saw remus transform into a werewolf, the pain and agony he was in. his parents torturing him, calling him a blood traitor and so much worse. James and lily potter dead on the floor, partly his fault. & he thought he deserved it, because he was a black and all blacks know is darkness.
sirius didn’t get almost anything he wanted. sirius never got what he truly deserved. happiness.

harry potter / marauders switch AU
okay but consider this :
harry and ginny swap with james and lily
james potter with a lightning bolt scar on his head
ron is still very awkward and harry is in love with his sister like give this boy a break
neville longbottom, everyone’s favourite gryffindor betraying them when they needed him the most
ginny, throwing herself in front of her baby with the fierceness that made harry fall in love with her and a refusal to back down
ron in azkaban for a crime he didn’t commit, KNOWING it was neville and not him but unable to do anything about it. hermione retreats back into her muggle lifestyle for a while, only to become a DADA professor. She leaves teaching to look after Ron because dear merlin he’s not smart enough to not get himself killed.
james being incredibly confused as to why the hell there’s a jack russel terrier that seems to be following him around?
james, remus, peter and sirius go into hiding and the death eaters are completely baffled when they think they’ve caught james potter but instead they’re faced with a stag, an angry dog, a rat and holy shit is that a werewolf? shouldn’t have turned up on the full moon apparently
ron saves james’ life, only to fall backwards into the veil. hermione is left alone but finds solace in the gentle luna lovegood, who’s in the resistance and incredibly loud about it. baby tonks, who’s been in luna’s custody since the death of her mother, is adopted by the two women
peter remains in rat form to gather intelligence and helps them to escape
it’s draco that steps forward as regulus, accompanied by dobby. he sacrifices his life but leaves dobby, because despite his arrogance in these moments he refuses to let another person die because of him, even a house elf
when they sneak into hogwarts it’s regulus that greets them as leader of the DA, greeting sirius with a curt nod. sirius pulls him into a hug, there’s laughter all around, and for a moment in this terrible war sirius is reunited with his brother.
lily is close behind, with a grin and a half sour look as james pulls her in and kisses her. peter is incredibly proud of this turn of events and remus just smiles. james tries to convince lily to stay behind, but she’ll be damned if he could force her to stay out of the fight.
then, during the battle as regulus looks over his shoulder to grin at sirius, there’s an explosion and he drops. sirius doesn’t realise he’s screaming until remus shakes him, pulling him along as regulus lies in the dirt, staring into the sky with a smile still on his face
kreacher is the house elf that leads the charge out of the kitchens, screaming all the while and stabbing death eaters left right and center with a fierceness betraying his tiny frame
at the end, when everyone surveys the battlegrounds, hermione and luna are there hand in hand even in death, and little tonks has lost four parents now rather than two
sirius sits silent, holding his brother’s arm and sweeping the hair out of regulus’ face. peter and remus are cross legged beside him, staying silent as the boy starts to weep.
James and Lily have a baby called Harry, this time with no scar and born into a world that’s safe. Then, there’s little Draco and little Ginny. Remus and Sirius adopt witches and wizards made orphans by the great war, little slytherins who’s parents are in azkaban or even dead. peter pettigrew meets a nice girl, shy and gentle, and they all live happily ever after
