New Rule: Gender Apartheid | Real Time with Bill Maher
And finally, New Rule: if you're out protesting for a couple of hours wearing this...
... you have to go all the way and spend an afternoon running errands wearing one of these.
You can't side with the people who ruthlessly oppress women without at least getting a taste of what you're supporting.
Well, now that summer is here and the Hamas-backing college protesters have dispersed back to their summer internships at Goldman Sachs, I thought it might be a good time to say this: I actually admire your youthful idealism, and our world would be poorer without it. Much like your parents who just wasted 300 grand on that ignorance factory you call a college.
Not that I think it's your fault, being this poorly educated and morally confused. That takes a village. Shitty schools, overindulgent parents, social media, that priest who rubbed lotion on you.
But three cheers to you for at least having the impulse to seek a cause in something bigger than yourself. It's just that the one you picked, you missed the boat by a fucking mile.
But here's the good news. You want a cause? Cuz I totally got one for you. Apartheid. Yeah, apartheid, the thing you've been shouting about with Israel for months. Never mind that Israeli Arabs are actually full citizens. You learned that word from a 2 Chainz song and discovered that protesting South Africa's apartheid in the 80s was a righteous cause, and so it was. To this day, when celebrities are asked, who is the person they most admire, one name is always the safest choice.
So, naturally, when you heard that Israel was an apartheid state it gave you such a boner you literally pitched a tent.
You knew how wrong it was when tens of millions of South Africans had been treated like second class citizens just because of their race.
But here's the thing. Today, right now, hundreds of millions of women are treated worse than second class citizens. When you mandate that one category of human beings don't even have the right to show their face, that's apartheid. And it goes on in a lot of countries.
For the last couple years, women in Iran have been saying, "take this hijab and shove it." Because in 2022, a young woman named Mahsa Amini was arrested for wearing her mandatory hijab incorrectly and then died in police custody. And now security forces have killed over 500 people protesting her death and this obvious human rights violation. How about defunding those police?
Amnesty International says that, "Iranian authorities are waging a war on women that subjects them to constant surveillance beatings sexual violence and detention." What P. Diddy calls a hotel stay.
In Iran, MeToo isn't a movement, it's what a woman says when another woman says, my life sucks.
Yasmine Muhammad is a human rights activist who got married off to a Muslim man with fundamentalist views about women not exactly uncommon in the Muslim world. He forced her to wear the niqab all the time, including once beating her because she took her hijab off at home, because the apartment had a window through which people might see in. And this was in Vancouver.
Here's what Yasmine said about veiling.
"It just suppresses your humanity entirely. It's like a portable sensory deprivation chamber and you are no longer connected to humanity. You can't see properly. You can't hear properly. You can't speak properly. People can't see you. You can only see them. Just little things. Passing people on the street and just making eye contact and smiling, that's gone. You're no longer part of this world, and so you very quickly just shrivel up into nothing under there."
And that's my answer when someone says "Islamophobe."
Really, feminists? Come on, there's got to be a happy medium between a husband making his wife wear this, and a husband making his wife wear this.
I know 1619 was bad, but this is happening right now, right under your nose rings. And it's not just the clothes. 15 countries in the Middle East, including Gaza, have laws that require women to obey their husbands. Laws. Not just Harrison Butker's opinion.
And those societies also have guardianship laws, which means a woman needs permission from her husband to work, to travel, to leave the house, to go to school, to get medical attention. Nothing?
Honor killings, where women are murdered by their own fathers and-or brothers happen so frequently they can't even have an accurate account of how many.
In 59 countries, there are no laws against sexual harassment in the workplace, and many have no laws against domestic violence or spousal rape. 20 countries have marry-your-rapist laws. Multiple societies have laws about what jobs women can and can't do. Make a Barbie movie about that. 30 countries practice female genital mutilation, and 650 million women alive today were married as children.
Kids, if you really want to change the world and not just tie up Monday morning traffic, this is the apartheid that desperately needs your attention. Gender apartheid. This is what should be the social justice issue of your time. How about, from the river to the sea, every woman shall be free?
But in reality, it's not an issue at all. For one reason: the people who are doing it aren't white. I hate to have to be the one to break it to you kids, but non-white people can do bad things too. Now, white on black racism certainly has been of one of history's most horrific scourges. But also, it's true that in today's world being non-white means you can get away with murder.
So good on you kids for following your instinct to protest social injustice. Just remember, when it comes to finding a cause, pulling your head out of your ass is an important rite of passage.
==
They won't do it not just because it's Intersectionally inconvenient, but also because it would require admitting that, as citizens of first world countries and students of Ivy League universities, not only do they not live in a "patriarchy," but they're some of the freest, most privileged, most self-determining people who have ever lived in the world at any time, ever.
And, having spent decades crafting a narrative of being long-suffering and "oppressed," they'd have to surrender the significant social, political and economic capital that narrative affords, by fighting for women in Iran, Gaza, Afghanistan and other countries to have the same rights and privileges they take for granted. And regularly spit on.

#we’ve been living in a suspended state of repeated trauma partially because we were robbed of the chance to grieve #and then because of all the hatred and the violence and the other losses and tragedies that have followed for a year #and because 101 hostages are still in captivity #and here we are a year later and we’re STILL not allowed to mourn #we’re still not even SAFE to mourn publically #there are no words #it is indescribable how i feel about everyone who has done this #endless heartbreak #💔 (via jewishlivesmatter)
I have already seen a post CELEBRATING that tomorrow is October 7th. The one year anniversary of the day that over a thousand people were slaughtered, many more wounded and tormented. The day that people- MY people- were taken hostage.
I am going to put this as plainly as I can. If you in any way support what Hamas did on October 7th. You are a monster. If you in any way excuse what Hamas did on October 7th of last year, you are not worth the fucking air you breathe. We have not had a chance to mourn because the SECOND our blood was spilled, people started cheering for more, and instead of having the time to process and grieve all those we lost. Jews around the world had to turn and defend ourselves, justify our existence over and over again.
No more. I will not justify my right to live, to exist, to be Jewish.
We will dance again. Am Yisrael Chai.
#i have so much i want to say....#my heart is so heavy and has been for an entire year....#but i'm just too physically mentally and emotionally drained to fight what at this point seems like a losing battle#if your friends - people who claimed to care about you for years - dgaf to listen to you and so easily cut you out of their lives....#what chances do you even have with total strangers....?#so just....co-signed on everything#everything just feels so hopeless and depressing....there's nothing but loneliness and sadness out there#but if there's one thing you can always trust is that us jews are gonna stick together. and we're never gonna give up and surrender.#we've been here before. we'll be here again. we can do this.#never forget#never again#we will outlive them#we will prevail#we will dance again#BRING THEM HOME NOW#🎗️🎗️🎗️#antisemitism#jumblr#ps you hate jews. we get it#but if you support the islamic republic of iran and its proxies hamas/hezbollah/houthis and cheer them on???#you are LITERALLY supporting organizations who have murdered executed tortured enslaved and ruined the lives of NON jews#in some cases their own people!!! and it's all been documented!!!#so maybe you should take a good long look in the mirror and ask yourself: am i really a humanitarian who cares about all human beings?#or do i just hate jews (sorry ~zionists~) and am willing to support anyone who's against them no matter what....?#food for thought#last post for today and probably for a long time. dismissed.

So fucking sick of American Ashkenazim talking about how ‘Jew and Muslims are siblings!’ ‘Jews and Muslims just trying to exist while Christians blah blah blah’ and all that stuff. They’re always trying to make Islamic empires and history to be less than oppressive than Christian empires and history, and it really shows how little they actually care about the people who had to suffer under Islamic rule. The talk about how Jews and Muslims were brutally oppressed under Christian society, but they never acknowledge how Jews and Christians were brutally oppressed by Islamic society (and still are, Iran’s executing Jews who fight back against hate crimes, Iraq reintroduced the dhimmi tax and Christians are getting fucked over there). It’s always ‘Muslims and Jews just trying to live their lives and Christians ruining everything’, but they get uncomfortable when you mention how many Muslims all throughout Islamic history and the present have in fact not just tried to live their lives, and have in fact brutally slaughtered and ruined the lives of non-Muslims (yes, including Christians, Christians are not universally privileged, in many areas of the world they are an oppressed group), and have been gleefully aided on by the empires that allowed them to do this in the first place
They’re so focused on this idea of interfaith that they forget what interfaith actually is. It’s not excusing all this fucked up shit that has been committed against us in the name of kumbaya or whatever. It’s saying ‘hey, you’ve committed all this fucked up shit against us for a millennium, and it’s terrible, but this can’t just keep going on, so how do we move forward (not past, forward, because we will never forgot what any nation did to us) and try to build a more sustainable future’. Stop lamenting over the Mizrachi expulsion while also acting like Muslims are ‘purer’ or whatever than Christians are, stop acting like Jews are inherently more safe with Muslims than we are with Christians, stop trying to wash away the crimes of the various Islamic empires and movements, stop acting like Christian societies are more jew hating than Islamic ones, stop saying that we must have more kinship with one oppressor than another— or just stop acting like you care about us. I’m so tired, I know this doesn’t make any sense but I just need to let it out

Help Mohammed Rebuild His Home And Complete His Education!
I have helped set up this GoFundMe on behalf of Mohammed M Siam, who is not on Tumblr but is vetted through a friend of mine. I don't know how else this is going to get traction, so I'm gonna try to boost it here. Mohammed is a 23 yo Palestinian IT student whose home was destroyed by an IOF attack. He is trying to raise funds to rebuild as much of his home as he can manage and cover basic survival needs. If we're able to meet this goal, he hopes to raise enough money to travel outside Gaza and continue his education. In Mohammed's own words:
Mohammed's Story: A Gazan's Journey Through War and Loss.
My name is Mohammed, a 23-year-old young man from the heart of Gaza, Khan Yunis. My story is one of resilience, loss, and a burning hope for the future.
The war ripped through our lives with a ferocity that left scars on our hearts and our city. We were forced to flee our homes, seeking refuge from the relentless bombing that turned our once vibrant streets into a landscape of dust and debris. The "Al-Arous Ice Cream Factory," a familiar landmark and a source of joy, was reduced to rubble, a symbol of the devastation that engulfed us.
The journey of displacement has been long and arduous, stretching over ten months. We have endured hunger, the constant threat of violence, and the agonizing lack of essential medications. This shortage has created a desperate situation, particularly for those with chronic illnesses who struggle to find the treatment they need.
Our home, a testament to the love and hard work of my family, was shattered beyond repair. My brother, who had only recently begun his life with his wife, lost everything – their home, belongings, even their dreams for a future together. My father's shop, the cornerstone of our family's livelihood, was also destroyed, leaving us with nothing but the painful memories of what we had lost.
I, too, was a victim of the war's destruction. My pursuit of knowledge at the Islamic University of Gaza, where I was excelling in Information Technology, was abruptly halted. The university, a beacon of hope for countless students, lay in ruins.
We are now left with nothing but the clothes on our backs and the unwavering spirit to rebuild. My plea is for assistance – any help, however small – to rebuild our homes, our lives, and to restore the future we have lost. I long to complete my education outside of Gaza, where I can pursue my dreams in safety and peace of mind.
I hope that my story will touch your heart and inspire you to offer a hand of support. Together, we can help rebuild Gaza and give hope to those who have suffered so much.
This is Mohammed's story, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity.

Why is pro-watermelon 🍉 gang keep saying this is the first time they are seeing a live genocide and still nobody cares?? No this isn’t your first time!
Women around the world have been slaughtered, murdered, raped, and facing all other kinds of oppression since the dawn of time. There is already a world’s oldest and biggest genocide that is still happening today. And that is femicide.
But nobody seems to care about that because according to them there’s a "gender war" going on. I wonder if these watermelon people would be protesting and boycotting the same way if it was only the Palestinian women suffering in this genocide.
None of these people ever fought with this much vehemence for women in iran, for afghan women, for sudanese women, women in Congo, and all other women who are suffering around the world.
In fact, they’re busy glamorising terrorists like Hezbollah and Khamenieh (however the fuck you spell it) and mourning the deaths of the likes of iran’s terrorist leader who died in helicopter crash just because these bearded devils chanted "free-palestine" two, three times.
More than seventy per cent of the people who have been killed in this genocide are women and children. But the only time i see the pro-Palestine m@les talking about it is when they wanna blame it all on feminists. "WhErE aRe tHe fEmInIsTs?" "WhErE aRe tHe liBerAlS?"
Just shut the fuck up and tell me where are all the anti-feminist men and women who love to say m@n should be the leaders?? Where are all the muslim and christian conservative bigots who keep saying shit like women should obey men and men should lead?? These are your leaders now!
Muslim women commenting "BoYcOTT" under every female influencer’s post promoting an israeli brand while at the same time cooking and cleaning like slaves for their husbands so these men could become the next big leaders oppressing women using their power.
If you wanna boycott anything, then boycott these men. Stop coddling them and stop doing anything for them. Instead, use all that energy in making yourself a powerful leader.
But no, FemInIsts aRe sO eVil aNd wRonG fOr tElliNg wOmEn tO sToP coNfOrMinG tO gEndEr rOLes. FeMinIsTs hAve rUiNed EvEryThInG fOr wOmEn. ThEy aRe sOciEty bReAkeRs!
It’s not the feminists fault that there’s a genocide going on, it’s the men’s. Men are the ones who vote for these male politicians. Men are the ones who worship these male leaders. Men are the ones who ruin everything for women. The enemy is exposed yet your rage is directed in the wrong direction.
There’s not one male world leader who is not destroying the planet with his evilness. But all i see is comparisons being made about which one of them is more evil; the islamic ones or the zionist ones or the white ones??
Listen! Idgaf about your free palestine land or the entire boycott list of brands. I don’t even care about your brave palestinian m@les dying either. Y’all cry about pregnant palestinian women having a hard time and feminists doing nothing for them, but who the fuck is impregnating them????
Women of Palestine should be freed from both israel and Palestinian men. That’s just what i care about. And women of Israel should be freed from these men too. No, they don’t deserve to be raped or killed just because they support Israel. It’s not even palestine vs Israel, it’s men vs women; where men are the oppressors on both sides and women are the victims on both sides. Every war has always been a genocide against women.

What makes Biden’s “ancient desires” comment that much more fucked up is the fact that he clearly thought that if he went with a vague term that nobody will call out his blatant racism and Islamophobia.
“Oh, I didn’t say Arabs, I said Hamas.”
“Oh, I didn’t say that Arabs were motivated by Islam, I said that they were motivated by ancient desires.”
It’s so fucking obvious to anyone with a working brain that this racist piece of shit is saying that Arabs are motivated by Islam to murder Jews.
Gosh how I wish America would abolish its dog shit two party system.
I’m tired of old racist white guys ruining everything.

I was born and raised in Lebanon, which used to be the only majority Christian country in the Middle East.
We were open-minded. We were fair. We were tolerant. We were multicultural. We prided ourselves in our multiculturalism. We had open border policy, we welcomed everyone to come our country because we wanted to share with them the westernization which we had created in the heart of the Arabic world.
Muslims used to send their children to study in our universities because we had built the best universities in the Arabic world. They graduated and worked in our economy because we had built the best economy in the Middle East, even though we did not have any oil.
Beirut became Paris of the Middle East. The banking capital of the Middle East. In 1965, National Geographic Magazine had on its front cover, “Lebanon, Eden of the Middle East.”
Unfortunately, all this began to change as the years went by.
We got our independence in the early 40s, but by the 60s and 70s, the Christians had become the minority, and the Muslims had become the majority in Lebanon. And as the Islamic population grew in the country, the country became less and less tolerant, because they started pushing for more rights that were not compatible with our Judeo-Christian value system that we had created, and that’s when the problems started.
The problem was contained until the influx of the Palestinians out of Jordan in 1970, when Lebanon brought them in because we already had refugee camps -- actually at that time Lebanon was the only country in the Middle East to accept the third wave of Palestinians into Lebanon. The majority of them were Muslims, they put their heads together with the Muslims in Lebanon and declared jihad on the Christians.
What they wanted to do is create a base from which to fight Israel, kill the Jews, and throw them into the sea. Something they tried to do in Jordan, yes Arafat and the Palestinians tried to do in Jordan, but they failed because of the dictatorship of the king. Yet they were able to come to Lebanon, use our open-mindedness, our fairness, our tolerance, our multiculturalism, and our democracy to topple our democracy.
==
You can't say you weren't warned.
There's an inevitable trajectory when you acquiesce to the demands of an ideology that claims for itself, not just the right, but the divine authority to dominate the entire world and force everyone to submit under it.
We have to stop giving credence to the bogus charge of "Islamophobia," and start removing those who seek to destroy our societies.
Islam ruins everything.
Reminder again that the "Palestinians" are actually exiled Jordanian fanatics. And Jordan doesn't want them any more than Egypt does.

Some tankie bs detection
I saw this post on my dash. The user is blocked now. But just to educate people so that they won't fall for idiotic claims online, here are a couple of facts:
1. The Islamic Republic is not anti imperialist, they're anti USA. The regime is very much in love with Russian imperialism. At this point, Iran is an unofficial russian colony. And by the support of their imperialist father figure they have their small version of imperialism in middle east. Ask Iraq and Lebanon.
2. There's no "safety" when it comes to economy in Iran. The "national sovereignty" is called "those fvckin thieves in power" here. Iran's regime is one of the most corrupt regimes by international index. Rent, nepotism, embezzlement and money laundering are serious issues in Iran. Done only and only by the governors and people in power. Social class is not only a thing, there's a raging gap between rich people and those in poverty. And the gap is getting bigger and bigger by month. If you have connections in government or you are in the government, you'll get richer and richer. Other wise, soon enough you'll be in poverty too. Many families, including mine, who used to be considered middle class, have incomes lower than the poverty threshold now.
About 15% of Iran's economic failure including inflation is on the sanctions. The rest is on the corruption within the regime.
Iran's banking system is also a corrupted organ. The so called Islamic banking is anything but Islamic. The loan interest rate is one of the highest worldwide, 23%, so that often you have to pay back more than twice the money you've received. It's called Riba in Islam and it's Haram. According to the regime themselves, the banking system in European countries, even in the USA, is more Islamic than us. The fact that some of the biggest embezzlement in Iran has been done by bank managers should give you a picture of how they're drinking our blood.
None of this is on USA imperialism. It's all the Islamic Republic.
3. The Islamic Republic doesn't support Palestinians. The regime is extremely racist and anti Arab. I dare you talk about this with an actual Arab. IR don't give two shites about Palestinians lives. The regime is antisemitic. That's what they are. Palestine is just an excuse to attack Israel. In the past 20+ years of my life, living in Iran and dealing with these posers, not once we've been educated about Palestine and Palestinians lives. Everything I know, I've learned from online resources and documentaries make by Palestinians. The regime doesn't talk about Palestinians when they pose as supporters. I'm pretty sure they don't know or care to know anything noteworthy about Palestine, considering my knowledge of the human rights violations there is always more than basiji people of my country, and I don't even know that much. All the regime talks about is how Israel should be eliminated. IR supports a terrorist organization called Hamas, not Palestinians.
4. Let's forget about everything I said so far. I wonder if tankies like the op has any ounce of humanity in them! The regime has been oppressing women, violating every type of human rights and murdering lgbtq people and other-thinkers for the last 40 years. The spectacular environmental disaster in Iran is the direct result of regime's policies and neglect. This is a case of human rights violation since it's ruining people's lives, especially ethnic minorities, like Arab farmers in south.
No religious minority is safe in Iran, be it atheist, Baha'i, Jew, christian, or Sunni Muslim. They commit crime against children, through labor and through war. IRGC have little regards for human lives in general but it descent into no regards at all for ethnic minorities.
They have MASS EXECUTED 30,000 leftists (members of Marxist Communist parties and their supporters) within the first decade of their autocratic rule. It's unbelievably funny to me when foreign leftists support a regime that has executed many of their fellow thinkers and still arrest and torture any left activist in Iran.
To say the reason the 1979 revolution happened was to get rid of western influence and to establish a democratic free independent government is true. But the Islamic Republic is not that result. Don't be fooled.

Journalist Islam Bader documents a massacre at the Zamel family home. Instagram user faridaek provides a full English translation in the comments section.
I am currently in the home of the Zamel family, a home belonging to one of the judges in the Palestinian court. He, his wife, and 13 of their children and grandchildren were martyred here.
The scene here is incredibly difficult. The house is completely destroyed, and everything has been reduced to rubble. Approximately 20 injured were also extracted from here. The house was hit by two F-16 missiles, leading to its destruction.
Imagine the force, the large hole in the ceiling of one of the floors, and another hole here that's even bigger. Everything is destroyed. The homes that are targeted turn into massive ruins. Huge devastation and immense destruction, in addition to the massacre committed by Israel.
Unfortunately, we are facing yet another massacre, even though we are talking about the northern Gaza Strip here, which the occupation claims has become a safe area. If this is the occupation's definition of 'safe', or if this is what they mean when they say they're reducing the intensity of military operations and the targeting of civilians, then clearly, we are witnessing a continuation of distorted standards/narratives, lies, and massacres.

So, the (((joos))) are responsible for Islamic homophobia...
Not only was the middle east an absolute beacon of peace among all religions & ethnic groups before 1948, with not a drop of blood spilled before the (((evil zionists))) founded the (((evil zionist entity)))...but it was also absolutely tolerant & respectful towards sexual minorities, homophobia was un heard of...not in the middle east, and not in Arabian peninsula, the origin of the wonderful tolerant religion of peace...
These darn (((joos))) just HAVE to ruin everything for the beaceful beoble of balestine...
If it weren't for these darn (((zios))) Sinwar & Haniye would be french kissing under a rainbow flag in a gazan pride parade...the gazan crowd would be cheering for this instead of the torturing of hostages and mutilating the dead bodies of Israeli civilians (((evil colonisers)))

We know men absolutely ruin everything when girls statistically preform better academically in all-girl schools, and also have higher rates of confidence and self-esteem.
Dude I went to an all girls Islamic elementary and middle school … and when I moved across the country and started a public high school … the culture shock was crazy!
Teenage boys were shoving each other, smelled like ass, were loud and rude, had disgusting handwriting and shoved papers in their backpacks, could barely read when we did popcorn reading… I was like what are these creatures?? 💀

not sure if this counts, but there is a concerning amount of nonblack tumblr commies making "yakub" jokes cropping up, which is an honest to god white supremacist meme
correct me if im wrong but isn't Yakub the guy from like. Nation of Islam's (for the uninitiated: black supremacist USAmerican movement with quite literally Zero Connection To Islam) doctrine? like, the polar opposite of white supremacism? Isn't he like The Guy Who Made White People And Ruined Everything For Everyone in their weird ass doctrine? Like I agree that they should Stop Making Those Jokes but I think calling Yakub a "white supremacist meme" is just straight up wrong from my knowledge of it
