Can we talk about the parallel between Guillermo's turning and un-turning.

His turning went so wrong, it wasn't what he wanted at all. We know our crazy, dramatic baby. He wanted a ceremony, he wanted it to be romantic and soft, he wanted vows and sacred words. He wanted to slowly expose his neck, he wanted whispered words, he wanted to feel safe and cherished. He wanted to be asked and be held and be seen and be accepted.

What he got instead was a badly lit horrifying ordeal. He had to take charge. Derek had no idea what he was doing. It happened in a backroom of a store, they kept getting interrupted by Derek's boss asking him to clean out toilets. Derek fucked up his bite. He almost died. "Have you done this before". Derek fainting. Blood everywhere. Anticlimactic, disappointing, not at all the culmination of his life long dream, of decades of service and love.

His un-turning on the other hand.

Oh Nandor knows him. He made up a ritual for him with a suitably dramatic name: "The Ceremony of Vampiric Transmogrification". He dressed him in robes which he put on him so softly and spoke to him so kindly beforehand. He got all the other vampires ready for him. He hung banners and lit candles. He wrote and spoke vows and sacred words to him. He gave him a choice and asked him a question. And when he got his answer he took charge and made sure everything went exactly as it should. He made Guillermo feel seen and loved and accepted, even if it broke his heart.

A coupla gen-u-ine wrestle boys

Nandor wiggles angrily, face mushed into his own hyperflexed arm as he struggles to turn out of the shoulder lock, legs flailing. Guillermo grins confidently down at him. 3. Nandor has Guillermo on his stomach with one arm wrenched in a chicken wing behind his back, a similar but looser hold to #1. Nandor grins and crows in triumph, hip pressed to Guillermo's side and legs curled up to keep the pressure on. Guillermo is propped up on his free elbow and seething, angrily kicking his feet as he feels for an opening. 4. Guillermo has Nandor in a tight chokehold, dragging him backwards to prevent his longer legs from gaining traction. Nandor growls and grabs at Guillermo's arm to try to wrench it away. 5. Guillermo flips Nandor over his back with one arm and a handful of hair. Nandor, eyes bugged out in shock, hurtles back-first toward the floor, one hand flailing out and the other gripping at Guillermo's shoulder. 6. The two rolling around, grappling at each other. Guillermo is rolled up onto one shoulder, trying to stay off his back, one hand pressed into Nandor's chest to keep him at bay as he looks overhead, hissing. Nandor has one knee between Guillermos legs and an arm locked at the elbow against the floor to hold himself up, free arm lunging for Guillermo as his boots slip against the floor. /end ID

Type III Stars, Metyr, and How Fkcugni COOL it is to see Fantasy allude to such technical knowledge *swoons*

SO LIKE I AM A HUGE SPACE/ PHYSICS NERD

So, I noticed a sort of "theme" to the progression of Elden Ring's "Shooting Stars" that mirrors how star formation is... well, a thing!! Metyr has lost touch with the Greater Will because Type III Stars have lifespans of "Only Millions of Years!" The microcosm is the most literal definition of the words you can get- a micro-cosmic space.

A Singularity. So!

In the great scheme of things the Type I stars would most likely be the Fallingstar Beasts you find throughout the Lands Between; Type II Stars would be entities like the two Astels and the Elden Beast! Entities that have lived long enough to start really mixing things up. And then we have Metyr. The oldest star- a powerful direct offshoot of the Gravity of Greater Will- ordered and told what to do by gravity until that gravity went inward and disappeared, pulling Metyr's focus inwards. After all, if you travel infinite distance over the infinite space-time surrounding a singularity you could "get to it," ...but you can't. Metyr looks to a ceaseless void, as she was broken; collapsed through unknown means into an indiscernible cosmic white noise. The information that could be gleaned by the Greater Will is simply erased by the inherent rot of the Lands Between, and an infinite space-time firewall stops it from recycling.

Not even Erdtree Burials truly recycle.

Musical Touken Ranbu: Tsuwamonodomo ga Yume no Ato english sub

A passion project if there's ever been one, it's been a longstanding want of mine to finally do this! Needless to say, Tsuwamono and everything it meant is still my favourite plot from Toumyu! I love its character-driven and intricate writing, its heartrending acting choices, as well as the way it invites one to think about what characters think and why, and why they do or don't (dare to) do the things they do.

However, another important reason that I'm letting myself indulge in this, is that recent Toumyu has taken a turn away from this plot, changing the way how Mikazuki is framed, tying different characters to themes that were tied to Kogitsunemaru, and put those characters into roles that would originally have been most natural for Kogitsunemaru to follow.

In that light, then, I hope that these subtitles will allow you to see, even if it's just the smallest sliver, what I loved in Toumyu's take of Kogi and Mika up to and including Kotobuki. To see that it was beautiful. Because I think it was. 💙💛🌙🦊

The folder also includes a pdf with translation notes, some background information where I felt it would add, and just a little bit of eager gushing about the references made.

I should sleep !! I say, before I lay awake, over-analysing every tiny detail in shadow 05's cryptic castle mission for my next project

I just think, the idea that Disha is lying about Kyoshi's honor and stuff to put some kind of wedge between Roku and Kyoshi would be really cool and spy-y and would fit really well with the weird Cold War-eque/espionage that Roku's era seems to want to emulate. It'd be a cool way of making him doubt himself without realizing he's doubting himself.

And it'd also force a parallel between Roku/Kyoshi and Kyoshi/Kuruk. How, while Kuruk appeared in RoK and Kyoshi didn't have the best opinion of him, really ramped up in her sequel novel to the point she wanted to fucking brawl him. The way it's set up now, Roku's timidness and confusion with Kyoshi could easily fester into the same hatred and want to confront her in Roku's sequel novel too.

And I'm also just grasping at straws but I just really fucking hate how RR is trying to drag Kyoshi through the gd mud. And like it just doesn't work with the knowledge we already know about her and he could've done something (anything really, he didn't utilize her at all) else with her character in Rokus era that would've better explored... and I'm also a bit of a bitter bitch about it. tbh

yosuke and teddie being literal brothers

Teddie: "I'm sorry" (for disappearing with no notice) "don't worry i won't go back to the TV world without letting you guys know first" Yosuke: you better not idiot-who-freeloads-in-my-closet (totally because it's too hard to explian it to the parents where you disappear to)

Teddie has just such peak little brother energy in teh gameshow it's lowkey hilarious, like he just...debunks a point off Yosuke just because he can and Yosuke still ends up agreeing to do the rest of the games... (also can we appreciate he put this together under Yosuke's nose? Like they live together, they work together, Teddie had to find time somewhere to get himself a costume and the whole setup and all the trivia facts even if he could just whip up half the stuff from being part Shadow)
