Sister Disha and Roku

I just think, the idea that Disha is lying about Kyoshi's honor and stuff to put some kind of wedge between Roku and Kyoshi would be really cool and spy-y and would fit really well with the weird Cold War-eque/espionage that Roku's era seems to want to emulate. It'd be a cool way of making him doubt himself without realizing he's doubting himself.

And it'd also force a parallel between Roku/Kyoshi and Kyoshi/Kuruk. How, while Kuruk appeared in RoK and Kyoshi didn't have the best opinion of him, really ramped up in her sequel novel to the point she wanted to fucking brawl him. The way it's set up now, Roku's timidness and confusion with Kyoshi could easily fester into the same hatred and want to confront her in Roku's sequel novel too.

And I'm also just grasping at straws but I just really fucking hate how RR is trying to drag Kyoshi through the gd mud. And like it just doesn't work with the knowledge we already know about her and he could've done something (anything really, he didn't utilize her at all) else with her character in Rokus era that would've better explored... and I'm also a bit of a bitter bitch about it. tbh

Back to drawing my beloved ocs. I really wanted to try something with this piece (but I think I didn't do it in the end). Anyway, I wanted to draw D'sha again cause I've been writing the first draft of the main story of these characters and they popped up into my head again. This one is kind of spoilery tho hahaha, but it was fun to do

ok so it's not done yet but this fanart made me go frickin crazy so here's a snippet of writing inspired by this: (mildly nsfw??)

Disha doesn��t know how it happened. 

One moment, she’d been idly clearing the Avatar’s long-unused quarters, lost in thought. The next moment, the Avatar herself had stumbled through the door, in the dead of night no less, covered in blood.

She’d hardly had a chance to take it all in: the freshness and brutality of the injuries, the length of time since she’d seen Kyoshi last, the complete and utter lack of explanation of both her absence and sudden return. So many questions, with no good answers.

Disha hadn’t held back, either. Hadn’t been able to keep the worry or anger out of her voice, as she’d admonished Kyoshi.

But the last thing she’d expected was for the Avatar to lean down and kiss her forcefully, one hand cupping her face, the sharp, metallic taste of blood on her lips.

Being kissed by Kyoshi -- it’s like being struck by lightning. Disha finds herself frozen in place, too shocked to close her eyes. 

What she does catch a glimpse of is the sheer focus on Kyoshi’s face as she kisses her, the intensity of her expression. It’s enough to make her knees go weak, to wipe all rational, competing thought from her mind.

So Disha closes her eyes. Kisses her back for all of two seconds, loses herself to the thrill of the sensation.

Then, with all the strength she can muster, she reaches up -- and pushes the Avatar away.

The loss of her warmth is immediate, instantaneous. Feels wrong in a way she cannot describe.

If Kyoshi is offended, she doesn’t show it. Instead, she leans back and looks at her intently, as if waiting for her next words.

Words. Yes. What can she possibly say, after that?

There are too many emotions clouding her mind, some mix of fear and desire and want. Disha voices the first one that comes to mind.

“I’m not supposed to become attached like this,” she says, and she hears the faint tremble in her voice, how utterly fearful and unconvincing she sounds, at this moment. “It’s not the Air Nomad way.”

A half-truth. She’s had her share of discreet dalliances with men and women, alike. But nothing of real consequence. Not until now.

Kyoshi looks unfazed. Her next words come out sharp as knives:

“I’ve spent a long time on the subject myself, pondering just that. What I’ve been told to be, versus what I’m supposed to be.”

She steps closer, then, and Disha is struck, as she often is, by just how unassumingly tall she is, the power in every little move she makes. “Would you like to know what I think?”

She nods, unable to speak.

Kyoshi leans down so she can whisper in her ear, her voice as soft as crushed velvet.

“Forget what you’re supposed to be,” she murmurs, taking all doubts out of her mind. “Let me tether you to the earth, and you can show me the sky.”
