Hey FYI killing or assaulting or raping a woman due to misogyny is a hate crime. It is as much of a hate crime as killing or assaulting or raping any other marginalized group due to bigotry and I’d appreciate if we stopped downplaying misogyny and misogynistic violence when literally every single woman I have met has at some point been a victim of misogynistic hate crime. No, men are not “also oppressed by the patriarchy”, if I see one more person make that claim I’m going to kill them. What the hell do you guys even think the patriarchy is. like. Ok. The patriarchy isn’t a gender norm system, that’s it’s own issue that tends to form under the patriarchy. The patriarchy is a system designed to serve men and oppress women, it’s designed so that men are able to obtain power but women aren’t. That’s literally all it is.

"Person" is not an Identity
The topic of nonhuman personhood came up in a conversation earlier, which led to me scrolling through the notes on the essay/rant I wrote on the topic at the end of last year [link]. While scrolling through, I saw multiple people express the view that if someone doesn't want to be referred to as a "person", that should be respected.
I would like to kindly but firmly disagree with that view.
Personhood is not a personal identity, and it should not be approached the same way that one approaches identity labels like sexuality, gender, or even species identity. Personhood is a social and legal category, which carries with it significant implications about how (and if) one is treated as a member of society.
Whether it is intended or not, a declaration like "I am not a person" is declaring that one does not see themselves as a being deserving of basic rights and safety. It is saying that they do not see themselves as deserving of dignity and basic respect as a thinking being.
The declaration that an individual (or more often, a specific group) does not have personhood has been used as the justification for all manner of atrocities, up to and including genocide. And I want to be very clear that I am not exaggerating that point. The removal of personhood is a key element of fascist ideology, and is not something to be done casually, even to oneself.
If someone tells me that they use a specific identity label, or set of pronouns, or even choose to not identify as human, I can respect that, and I will do my best to embrace their decision. On the other hand, if someone tells me that they are not a person, I consider that cause for alarm.
The important difference is that personhood is not a personal identity. It is the state of being recognized as worthy of basic dignity, rights, and respect. To deny one's personhood is to deny that you deserve basic rights like freedom from harm, the ability to own property, and the ability to make decisions about your own life and body. I would hope that it's abundantly clear why denying oneself those basic rights is a bad thing.
"Person" is not an identity. It is a fundamental trait that cannot and should not be removed from anyone, even voluntarily. The denial of one's personhood is, at best, incredibly misguided, and at worst incredibly dangerous.
So if you're someone who wants to not be called a "person", I implore you to examine why you feel that way in depth, and consider if the problem isn't being called a person, but the societal assumption that person = human. And if the problem is that societal assumption, the solution isn't to deny your personhood; it's to join the large number of people pushing for society to accept that not every person is human.

I’ve been meaning to make a post like this for a while now but kept forgetting. Since First isn’t widely known I wanted people to have an explanation of who the heck this guy is (and why they should love him). So without further ado
Who is the First Hero?
(All of the following pictures are from the Hyrule Historia)
The First Hero (or First as we call him in the Linked Universe fandom) shows up in a tiny manga at the back of the Hyrule Historia (that’s basically an encyclopedia for Zelda). He isn’t technically canon and doesn’t have a game of his own. But according to the manga he is the first Link, Skyward Sword Link’s predecessor.
He lived in a time when Hylia was still a goddess and before Demise’s first attack. He was a royal knight, much like Hyrule Warriors Link, and seemed to be a man of great respect and esteem. Until, that is, he was framed for an unknown crime and imprisoned.
Tumblr media
He remains in the dungeons for four years. Then, when his so called “premonitions of danger” begin to come true, and Demise attacks Hyrule, his people decide “oh, wait! They kinda need a hero now!” So, they set him free and practically beg him to fight for them. He’s understandably bitter about the whole thing, but being the hero he is, he goes out to battle.
Tumblr media
No sooner has he agreed to fight, than the goddess Hylia shows up on her crimson loftwing. She has come to battle Demise and help her people escape to safety.
The loftwing looks down upon the humans as weak and cowardly. But Link stands up to him, telling him “there are those among us who have the courage to fight.” The loftwing admires him for the sentiment, but isn’t convinced. He promises to keep watch over him to see if Link is a worthy rider.
With the loftwing gone to the heavens above, Hylia gives Link the Master Sword
Tumblr media
Link doesn’t think he is worthy of it after his imprisonment, but Hylia assures him that the sword knows better. It sees beyond his tarnished reputation to the kind, brave man beneath.
Though Link is still bitter about everything he has endured, he swears to fight for his friends. He takes the sword and hones it into something a mortal can wield.
Then, he goes to battle.
Hylia rallies the other races around Hyrule to help the Hylians. Meanwhile, Link and his men fight for seven days. Despite their efforts, Demise begins to burn Hyrule to the ground.
In the end, Link goes to face him, promising to slay him.
Tumblr media
But he is badly wounded in the fight. He collapses, weak and near death. Before he can fade away, however, the loftwing shows up and chooses him as his rider.
Tumblr media
He swears to ride with the loftwing forever. Shortly afterward, the dragons from Skyward Sword bless the Master Sword with the power of the Triforce. Then, Link gives the sword to Hylia, who carves Hyrule from the earth.
Link retrieves the sword and drives it into the ground, finishing the job and sending Hyrule skyward.
He wants to follow his people to the skies, but his wounds catch up to him. He falls to the ground. In his last moments he promises that his spirit will always be with his people.
Tumblr media
Hylia seals Demise away, even as the enraged god promises to prevail. Then, she goes to where her fallen hero lies.
She holds him, crying over him and lamenting the pain he had to endure to become the hero Hyrule needed. Knowing that Hyrule will need their help once more, she then promises to reincarnate them both. Only this time, she will be a mortal.
Tumblr media
This story, we learn, becomes legend in the era of Skyward Sword. And the loftwing who Link swore to ride with chooses the child who has his reincarnated spirit, Skyward Sword Link or Sky.
Tumblr media
Now, as for First’s standing in LU…I’m know multiple LU fans (myself included) speculate that Jojo will include him at some point. She’s been cryptic about it when asked though, so we don’t know for sure. Neither do we know when he’ll show up (if he does). So, for now, we can only hope.
…and create our own AU’s in the meantime ;)

Wait, are you Pro-Palestine?
...........……………………………......................yes?
I had really hoped that was obvious from my FAQ/About that I require all new followers to read, but here it is for your convenience:
I think both Jews and Palestinians deserve to live in peace, safety, freedom, and self-determination for both. I’m not so arrogant as to think I know the best solution for how to accomplish that, seeing as I don’t live there myself. But my values are humanitarian across the board, which besides basic safety includes respecting cultural needs and access to important religious sites.
And an update in light of Current Events:
***Update post-10/7/23: Please read this article, this guide, and this theory of change, and consider becoming a friend of Standing Together. This is a group that truly cares about creating a just society that recognizes both peoples’ deep roots in the region, legitimate grievances, and the truth of history. They are the ones doing the hard work on the ground to create a lasting and just peace together. No one is going anywhere; any real solution must recognize that.
And look anon, idk if you're Jewish or not, but if you're not: don't do this. I put myself out there because I'm physically incapable of shutting up but a lot of Jews don't and it's not your place to ask them. I care about Palestinians because I care about human rights. I also care about Israelis because they are also humans whose rights I care about.
If you're a fellow Jew who is feeling betrayed somehow? Don't do that either. I care fiercely about our people and that is precisely why I want us to do better. I can care about multiple issues and multiple groups of people at the same time, no matter how many times people try to offer me an ultimatum or get upset with me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyway none of this is a change in my positions or should come as a surprise to anyone if you actually read my required pinned post.

Clarification, Apologies,A word for the community, and Blog Updates..
On 31st of July, around a week ago, A situation involving some users, myself included, happened, causing me to go on a temporary hiatus for a week, as it was handled indelicately and caused a lot of harm to users who never asked to be a part of it.
For the sake of privacy and not stirring the pot again, I will not name any of the users.
I should clarify that English is not my first language, so there might be grammatical mistakes in this.
TLDR: I was careless and I reblogged from NSFW blogs not knowing they were NSFW blogs, causing harassment to other members of the community. I have deleted these reblogs and I decided to not reblog anything on this blog for the safety of everyone.
Elaboration under break:
It started when an user, who I will not name, made a callout post about me. They screenshotted reblogs I made, and while I still believe that that user fully intended to cause drama instead of addressing any real issue, they were right in calling my mistakes out.
Throughout several months, I have reblogged from NSFW accs, even though I have a bold NSFW DNI on the top of my blog. I have also reblogged from an MDNI account multiple times despite having minors on my blog, endangering both parties.
I have since blocked these accounts and deleted these reblogs. However, that doesn't undo the damage I already did.
I know I have problems with many social skills, like social cues and etiquette. I do have Autism and ADHD after all. This led to, when I was reblogging things that I found cool, me accidentally missing many of the signs that most would have seen. I didn't realize what was happening until someone told me.
At the moment of the discourse, this blog had 194 followers (202 as I write this). In any other social media platform, this number means you're basically invisible, and so that's the logic I went with. I thought nobody saw this blog so I was lenient with my content, treating this blog as my personal shitposting place.
However, after this discourse,I realized that I am being seen on Tumblr. That unfortunately was at the cost of accidentally hurting innocent users who never asked to be a part of this, along with ruining my mental health for a while.
There have been kind hearted users who defended me, and users who told me that I am being looked up to and that I am a well respected member of the community, which is something I will remember for the rest of my life.
What I am trying to say is, I fucked up. Badly. Yet despite that, the community has given me a second chance, proven by the fact that I wasn't blocked or unfollowed (Quite the opposite actually)
I now understand the responsibility that I have and that I need to be very careful with what I post, especially since I have made the choice to let minors interact with this blog. I now understand I must look after them because of that.
I apologize so much for everyone that has been hurt by this. I won't ask for forgiveness. I only ask that everyone knows that I have acknowledged my mistakes and I promise to better myself in the future.
I am a human and I make mistakes, please don't ever be afraid to tell me when I do something wrong. (Tell me, by messaging or commenting. Please not by making a call out post on me, since this has proven to hurt more than help others.)
I made this blog to be a safe place to enjoy a certain trope without getting hurt, and I want to live up to that. For the safety of everyone, me included, I will make some changes to this blog.
Changes:
1: No more reblogs
This blog was handled indelicately, and unprofessionally, and I decided that I will change that, I will make this blog into an Art/Writing blog first and foremost, With prompt posts being a second priority.
The only exception to this will be fanworks or fanfics or things that are directly made for me/things I am mentioned in, I will tag them accordingly depending on content.
2: This blog is now +16
Yes, I interacted with users younger than 16 before, Yes,I have followers who are less than 16. I have thought about it deeply and I realized that for the sake of not hurting anyone, and if I wanted to be more comfortable around this blog, then I need to keep people who are slightly closer to my age range, Instead of censoring myself,
that's because I have taken a liking to (Nonsexual) fatal vore and gore, I want to make similar content in the future, as well as other darker topics.
I will not block anyone who is younger than 16, but I will not directly interact with you anymore, even if I'm not responsible for your actions, it's just to be safe.
Now I need to make some things clear:
I am not a minor so I can interact with MDNI blogs and they can interact if they wish to. As long as they're SFW
But, again, I will not reblog from them for the safety of those who are minors following my blog.
Vore is nonsexual for me and I don't want my work to be sexualised, especially because I depict myself in it.
I have absolutely nothing against people who are into it sexually, I just don't want my work in these circles.
I can't control how my work is perceived and where it goes, however my blog is SFW (In the sense that there's nothing graphic or sexual on it), meant for people who are also interested in that content, and so I don't want to see people who think it's “hot” here.
I am not responsible for anyone's actions on this blog, I am not responsible for people who find my content weird or sexual or whatever,I am not responsible for the minors on this blog, I am not responsible for my mutuals, I am only responsible for my own actions.
This community has been extremely supportive of me, and there have been people who comforted me during this whole situation, without them I probably would've deleted my blog from sheer panic.
I owe these people my life, thank you so much for being on my side.
I hope that one day, my blog can be a source of comfort too.
Thank you for reading and I hope you guys have a wonderful day!

Celebrating International Pronoun Day: A Call to Stand with LGBTIQ Refugees in East Africa
Today marks International Pronoun Day, a day dedicated to respecting people's chosen pronouns and raising awareness about the importance of gender inclusivity. For many, this is a day of celebration, recognition, and pride. But for LGBTIQ refugees in East Africa, including my own community in South Sudan, this day highlights the stark reality of our ongoing struggle for survival, dignity, and the right to exist.
The Fight Against Homophobia
Across East Africa, many LGBTIQ individuals face persecution, discrimination, and violence simply for being themselves. In refugee camps, where safety should be a priority, queer refugees are often targeted for abuse. We've been driven from our homes, denied access to basic services, and subjected to physical and psychological harm. The impact of homophobia and transphobia is devastating, leaving us without the protection or recognition we deserve as human beings.
Yet, despite these hardships, we continue to fight for our rights—our right to live openly, to love freely, and to identify ourselves in ways that are true to who we are.
Pronouns and Visibility
Pronouns might seem like a small detail to some, but they are a powerful symbol of respect, validation, and identity. For many of us in the LGBTIQ refugee community, the simple act of having our pronouns respected is a rare acknowledgment of our humanity. Being able to say "I am he/him," "she/her," or "they/them" without fear or judgment is an essential part of who we are. It’s not just about grammar; it’s about visibility, acceptance, and survival.
A Global Call to Action
On this International Pronoun Day, I urge the world to join hands in fighting against homophobia, transphobia, and all forms of discrimination toward the queer community—especially those of us living as refugees. We need your voices, your solidarity, and your action. Speak out against injustice wherever it arises, and help amplify the stories of LGBTIQ refugees who have been silenced for too long.
Today, let’s celebrate the beauty of diversity in our identities, honor pronouns as a symbol of respect, and commit to creating a world where everyone, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, can live freely and safely.
Wishing everyone a powerful and inclusive International Pronoun Day!

Hiii omg its so good to see a fellow book of hungry names enjoyer out there.... i was wondering if u managed to get sex scenes with podge ingame? Bcuz I've seen people mention it's possible and ever since then I have been desperately trying to no avail 😩 it's cool if you didn't, just thought i'd shoot my shot (also im literally obsessed with your art its so good)
omg HIIIIII thank you 😭 i actually look cuckoo bananas in the tag but it & night road reignited my love for world of darkness so idc lmao
anyway shitty diy romance guide under the cut
including other companions bc ive seen ppl have problems hooking up with melodie too but there is/was a podge-specific bug ill get to after the general stuff. disclaimer first tho english is not my native language & i dont play on steam so cant code dive properly BUT essentially:
podge, elton & melodie’s routes require some initial investment in charisma—not a lot (2 dots is fine) but the higher ur charisma the higher the modifier will be during romance checks, which will help you pass even if your relationship score with them isnt the best/mid range 2/3 dots. in the same vein some of the convictions your character can have also act as modifiers. what ive been able to piece together is that:
melodie likes when you uphold & respect the litany/tradition & the three families, but keep humans/nomi at a distance or out of the picture entirely for their own safety
elton likes when you maintain dignity in your situations, are logical/calculative making decisions & successful in your chosen means to an end (failing rolls is swagless behavior he will judge you)
podge likes when you weaponize your Rage—not necessarily escalating everything to violence (but it is a fair bit of that lmao) but in terms of like challenging the litany/tradition/authority, protecting the weak/disadvantaged
nin likes when you remain level-headed/composed, keep an open mind, respect her as a person/don’t treat her different as a wolfborn, utilize & accept your spiritual third as garou—recognize that cultivating gaia with kindness & hope are as important as protecting her with teeth & claws
TLDR for best relationship modifiers:
Elton: 2 or more dots in Charisma, high Find Purpose Through Dignity conviction
Melodie: 2 or more dots in Charisma, high The Litany Sustains Us conviction
Podge: 2 or more dots in Charisma, high Our Weapon Is Rage conviction
Nin: 2 or more dots in Composure, high Our Answer Is Spirit conviction
so the issue with podge’s route from what i can tell was a coding error that has since been fixed by kyle, basically during the first date most people opt to kiss podge back, which obviously boosts your romance score but at that point in time it boosted it past the threshold check for the sex scene & locked you out of it for both opportunities LOL. this is no longer the case but if your game hasn’t updated since May (not on version: 52507) you will have to play hard to get with podge (dont kiss him back) or your ass is NAWT getting dicked down later. all other scenes proceeds as normal tho
hopefully this helps!! im currently (slowly) playing thru again testing more stuff so i might update this or make a more detailed cleaner post in the future ^^

I wonder…… would it be actually possible for an angel and a demon to have offspring? And even then what it would be like? I don’t remember if there’s anything like that mentioned in the game, and considering they’re like, mortal enemies maybe in the bible lore I doubt that realistically there would be any answer apart from “no” but like……… imagine an angel/devil child in om and what it could mean for the three realms👀
Interesting question, since theoretically angel/demon physiology should be some kind of similar/compatible, but our answer is pretty definitively no, they could not have offspring together.
We have talked a bit previously about where we think angels and demons respectively come from in our Three Realms Headcanons post many moons ago, but here's a quick recap of the relevant parts:
All angels are created by their "Father" aka God; there is no concept of pregnancy or fertility amongst angels because God personally creates each of them.
Unlike angels, who are each created by God, some demons -- especially minor/lower ones -- are born through the manifestation of humans’ sins and negative energy.
Mid-tier and high level demons can be created through various means, including but not limited to sex. However, sex and pregnancy do not work the same way for demons as they do for humans. All demons involved have to consciously imbue themselves with magic that will make them fertile and guarantee conception; otherwise they are sterile by default.
This process also isn’t limited to a pair of male/female demons - multiple demons of whatever gender can contribute to the conception of a demon baby, and the child will take traits from every parent involved.
Other mid- and high-tier demon births can come from ceremonies, rituals, magic, etc.
We know that, canonically, the angels all call each other Brother and Sister, and all of them refer to God as Father as it is implied he is the one who created each of them. We also know that, as Simeon himself describes, "Lucifer and his brothers" were always a more close-knit group than how other angels interacted and they as a unit were their own separate thing. Additionally, it has been implied that angels do not necessarily get created as babies; although there are many "when you're older" comments made towards Luke, Asmodeus talks about the first Asmo Night being something like 1 week after his creation. Together, this all implies that none of them otherwise have "biological" families that that gave birth to them, and none of them can be parents either, as only God can create angels. Though to be clear, this isn't an "angels can't have sex" statement, only "angels can't have babies"!
Now, arguably since our headcanons for the demon side of births do include magical ceremonies and angels do have magic, there could perhaps be angel magic contributed into the birth of a demon. However, we also know that Mammon has suggested that angel blessings could kill a demon like him. Therefore, it would seem like rather than helping to create a new demon, it would hurt the potential demon baby or cancel out the demon magic in that process.
As for what a demon/angel child would mean for the OM world if one could be born, well, that's basically answered by MC's existence! Season 2 basically revolves all around the idea that MC has both angel magic from Lilith and demon magic from the pacts. And, well, Season 2 treats it as a deeply unstable combination that in fact threatens the safety of all three realms. So, maybe it's a good thing if there can't be any children born between angels and demons!

Today, I stand before you to shed light on the extreme hostility faced by the LGBTQI community in Uganda. In Uganda , individuals are persecuted simply for who they are and whom they love. This persecution takes many forms, from discriminatory laws and social stigma to violent attacks and even death penalties.
In the area where I’m based,LGBTQIA individuals are denied basic human rights, including access to healthcare, education, and employment . People like me face daily threats to their safety and well-being, often living in fear of being attacked. This hostility is not just a violation of human rights; it is a moral failing that we must address.
We must stand together to challenge hatred and promote acceptance. Every person deserves to live with dignity and respect, free from fear and discrimination. Let us work towards a world where love and identity are celebrated, not condemned.

Got any online safety tips people don't know about or heavily underestimate?
A few basics before the biggie:
Continuing theme of scammers on the phone... think about this: the last time you've tried to call a company, they make it hard. They want you to go to their website, talk to their automated chat, do everything but talk to a person. They don't want to talk to you because they don't want to pay people to talk you. So when you call a number you found online - or is in an email or text message - and you immediately get a person? Red flag. It's cynical but it's true.
And these companies are never going to call you out of the blue. Apple, Google, Microsoft, etc. are not going to call you. If some one calls you claiming to be them, they're not.
And no legitimate company - absolutely none - will want you to pay them with gift cards. Never going to happen. If you hear the phrase "gift cards" mentioned, hang up immediately.
Now the big one... these scams have nothing to do with technology. The same techniques have been used to con people for literally centuries. And, it has nothing to do with being smart or clever.
The scammers are not outsmarting you. They're using social engineering on you to get you to react emotionally.
Social engineering is always based on one or more of these six principles:
Authority/Trust: We're conditioned to listen to authority figures, like law enforcement, senior management, etc. For example, if it appears that your boss is asking for your personal information for something, you will likely be more inclined to reveal it.
Intimidation: A bad actor will often use threats or subtle intimidation tactics to convince the victim to act accordingly. This can include intercepting communications, manipulating them, and threatening to release them to a boss or friend to promote distrust.
Scarcity:  The more demand there is for a product and the less supply there is, the more likely a person is to want it.
Urgency: Similar to scarcity, using the ploy that something is available for a “limited time only” is a form of time-based psychological manipulation that can convince an individual to act quickly or risk missing out.
Consensus: As a form of social proof, people are more likely to participate in something that they see other people doing as well.
Liking/Familiarity: It is human nature to be more persuaded to engage in or buy something from someone you like or respect. Attackers can capitalise on this, and social engineering schemes often seem to come from a source that is known or respected by the victim. They also will be very nice, complimentary, and personable.
(Adapted from: https://www.okta.com/sg/identity-101/social-engineering/)
They rarely use all six, but usually more than one are combined. For example, scarcity and urgency pair well, and authority often leads into intimidation. Consensus can also lead into scarcity or urgency - your friends are all doing it, don't miss out!
The whole point of social engineering is to get you emotional so you're not thinking clearly, and will react quickly to whatever they suggest.
The good news is, social engineering can be defeated.
Slow down.
Question it. Ask someone else about it.
And when in doubt, do nothing at all.
That last one is very hard to do, and scammers know it. They will keep talking, keep you moving, and not let you get a thought in. But it's the key.
------------
The thing is, this is not just good to know online - offline scammers use all these same tactics!
If you find this useful, please share it with others, especially older adults who are often the targets of these scams. (Although no one is immune!) I teach people about this as part of my work, but the information and awareness is so important, I'm happy to share anything I can and answer questions.
Thanks for the ask, anon!

What are your thoughts on Neyteri and her relationship with Jake?
As usual, I'm a cynic.
In the first film, it was a whirlwind adventurous romance for both of them. Jake got to live out Dances with Wolves including meeting a beautiful warrior princess who teaches him how to be a better warrior than he's ever been before. Neyteri met someone who was different than the local men, seemed to respect her and her decisions more than her intended, and brought hope to the community that they could win back their land.
And kudos to them, while this passion seems to fade by the second film, they're still standing firm. Jake is a family man who, while he uh has some issues with pretty much all of the kids, deeply cares for them and the safety of his family. Neyteri in turn is deeply devoted to all her children as well as to Jake as her husband.
However, they have some problems.
Jake believes he's gone full native in the second film to the point where he thinks he knows things better than Neyteri. He has them leave the only home his wife's ever known, believing the military is obsessed with him only, and takes them to a place where Neyteri has no idea how to survive. He then tells the children they better get their shit together fast and not be the weakest or else the chief's mean wife will throw them out.
Jake listens to his scientist friends over Neyteri and Ronal when they tell him Kiri has epilepsy rather than, you know, it kind of being a thing that she can control wildlife around her and that maybe Avatar while similar to humans don't have the same brains at all.
Neyteri is concerned about Spider, and granted, while she's harsh, she is ultimately correct in her fears in that Spider did sell out their encampment and later aids the humans believing he can go along only as far as he can before he jumps ship.
Basically, Jake kind of ignores everything Neyteri says, at all moments, and it gets them into huge trouble (with a dead son no less) while he simultaneously treats her like the nagging wife.
He never realizes this is a problem and Neyteri at this point seems so used to it all she can do is seethe and blow up helicopters with arrows.

Ok- here is my rambling.
Bfau is a fantasy au indpired mostly by @hopepetal and @applestruda and their boatem knights au, but i put a spin on it and changed a lot. (sorry for tagging you two if you see this lol)
Rambling is under the cut :]
Basically- Grian the avian fire sorcerer is tasked by the king to assemble a small team of warriors to defend an ancient village called Boatem, which has an open rift to a dangerous void-like realm inside of it. It's dangerous as they will live there full time and will be the first (and only major) line of defence against anything that emerges from the rift. Grian agrees, and sends out letters to those he sees worthy.
The first was a ranger called Scar, his former party member and travel buddy. They used to adventure with Grian's adopted older brother Jimmy, and Jimmy's boyfriend of the time BigB, but due to a tragic event BigB passed, and Jimmy left adventuring for good to mourn, leaving Grian with a now unpredictable teammate. Scar died too in that event, but a stolen artifact they had brought his soul back to his body. The problem? Souls that are angry when they die become vexes, which are wild and violent. So when Scar came back to life, he gained otherworldly abilities which he couldn't control. They tried to continue travelling, but eventually Scar couldn't keep risking Grian's safety and they parted ways so that Scar could understand his new life and powers. He had to have control by now, after years of minimal contact, right?
The second invite went to his twin sister Pearl, who he hadn't seen for many years. She had left their home town in response to strange dreams and visions calling her somewhere. Grian hadn't heard from her for a long time until recently, when Tim got word from a traveller that she was alive and well, and strong too. She was some sort of paladin now, and neither of her brothers had any more information than that. Grian knew that his new life would be tough and he would be lying if he didn't admit that he really wanted his twin's support.
The third person to contact was another close friend, a vampire called Mumbo. Grian met him when he was weak and starving, having offered his blood in exchange for temporary shelter. They became fast friends, and talked often. Grian wasn't sure how he was in combat, but the guy was hella smart! He had so many ideas for traps and weapons, and knew hoe to make them. Grian felt that having a more technical teammate would be valuable, so Mumbo was a no brainer really.
The fourth and final invite was tough, as he had ran out of connections. Well- he had his older brother, but Timmy had been left flightless by the same event that took his lover. While he and Grian occasionally talked via messages, Tim was never a fighter, and what magic he did have wasn't suited for combat. Even then, even if Tim somehow said yes, Grian could never put him through all that pain again.
He settled on talking around, and found out about a veteran adventurer called Impulse.
Impulse was a bit of a wild card, and it also showed in his personality. He was noticeably older than everyone else, but his portfolio was nothing to sneer at. He had been a part of an adventure party like Grian, and had gotten pretty well known and respected. Impulse was a knight apparently, the brawn to a pair of brains. But when Grian first met him, he was instantly a little strange. He would frequently refer to himself as a 'we' or 'us', and Grian was convinced he'd caught him talking to himself once as if there was a response. Grian didn't know this yet, but Impulse wasn't just a knight. He was a human sharing his body with a (kind of stupid and annoying) demon, and had been for many years. By now it was almost second mature for him to include Skizz into conversations, even if no one else could see or hear him.
These five indeviduals were the only ones to guard and interact with Boatem, and just kinda have to deal with each other. Not much happens at Boatem, but at least the down time lets them get to adjust to each other and their quirks.
So yeah. Grian gets his sister, two besties and a random dude together to do nothing but bicker and train unless shit goes down, featuring LOTS of background characters with their own stories and development that don't matter as they aren't the pov. I will talk about them though. Just not now.
I hope you enjoyed my midnight ranting :]

In the ask you answered about Hickman's characterisation of Namor, you mentioned Namor's core traits, what are they?
Namor has 8 core character traits and I feel that if writers understand that then we get a good interpretation of his character; protector, honesty, respects women (he actually respects them more then men and doesn't have many male friends), doesn't use his strength to oppress people, nobility/arrogance, compassion, duality, and loyalty/respect. A couple are put together because I feel you can't have one without the other when it comes to his character.
- The protection and well being of his loved ones and people are a top priority to him, and he will do what's necessary to ensure their safety including murder or going to war, however Namor does not revel in senseless slaughter nor does he kill indiscriminately. (The only type of people Namor would harm/kill on sight are Nazis.)
- Namor is an honest character, he tells the truth even if it's a hard truth to hear. (He does engage in subterfuge from time to time if he needs to because he's a king and usually he does this if he feels it's in the best interest of his people/plan)
- Namor respects women. Full stop. He's not misogynistic, there are countless examples of him listening to women/female characters and taking their words under advisement or relying on them to help or trusting them or deferring to them. (This is hard to see sometimes because male comic writers often inject their own misogynistic views into some plots/sayings or fans take Namor as saying "Female" in referral to women characters as something misogynistic when it's just Archaic type of writing. Also I really feel that people shouldn't judge Namor on the Fantastic Four/Susan writing because he's deliberately written in a certain way in those comics and that plot dynamic that doesn't align with most of his character.)
- Namor sides with and champions the oppressed/underdog characters. He uses his strength and abilities to protect, not oppress.
- Namor's nobility and arrogance are intertwined, he is not a humble character and moments of humility are not something he expresses often.
- Namor's compassion is something others (Atlanteans) view as a weakness, however Namor would rather give his enemies a second chance rather than to kill them. Examples of this are Tiger Shark, Attuma, and Humans. (The last one is what Atlanteans judge him for the most since he tries to strive for peace with the human world until its thrown back in his face. Basically Namor's relationship with the human world is a cycle.)
- Namor's duality is the backbone of his character, like I cannot stress enough how Namor being biracial, or being of two worlds, or having 2 peoples he belongs to, are important to his character. His constant internal struggle and the external pressures of dealing with this are paramount to understanding his character.
- Namor's loyalty and respect is not easily earned but once earned then Namor is ride or die for that person.

The Psychological Dynamics of Subaru's Mental Health Journey in Re: Zero: An Examination of Growth Through Tribulations
Re: Zero provides a rich exploration of psychological theories through the development of its protagonist Subaru. The current post delves into the psychological evolution of Subaru, focusing on Maslow's hierarchy of needs, Bowlby's attachment theory, Kohlberg's stages of moral development, defense mechanisms, Bronfenbrenner's ecological theory, cognitive distortions, and the concept of relapse in personal growth. This is all from Season 1 and Season 2, as I am an anime only. I will state that as the new season airs and more information comes to light, information is subject to change. This is not about diagnosing a character but rather understanding aspects of their mental health journey through a psychological perspective.
Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and Subaru's Development Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory is a staple in the study of human motivation, proposing that humans are motivated to fulfill basic needs before moving on to more complex ones (Maslow, 1943). The hierarchy is usually depicted as a five-level pyramid, with physiological needs at the bottom, followed by safety, love and belonging, esteem, and self-actualization at the top. In Re: Zero, Subaru's journey through this hierarchy is not linear, with his position within the pyramid fluctuating based on circumstances and experiences. The physiological level, which includes food, water, warmth, and rest, is initially a priority for Subaru. Upon arriving in the alternate world, he grapples with these basic needs, with characters like Emilia and Rem assisting him. However, even after these needs are met, life-threatening events can throw him back to this level, showcasing a fluctuation within the pyramid. Safety needs become important as Subaru faces numerous perils in the new world. His need for personal security and safety is continuously threatened, particularly against violent deaths. Subaru often meets these needs using his unique ability to return by death, creating a safe outcome for himself and those around him. Love and belongingness needs are manifested in Subaru's interactions with Emilia, Rem, and Beako. The companionship and acceptance Subaru experiences through these relationships fulfill his need for love and belonging. However, situations such as Emilia's initial rejection of his overbearing protection can cause him to perceive a loss of this belonging, pushing him down the pyramid. Subaru's pursuit of esteem needs is evident in his constant drive for acknowledgment and respect, particularly from Emilia and Rem. However, frequent failures, rejections, and misunderstandings lead to fluctuations in this area. His dynamic relationship with Beako mainly tests his self-esteem. Self-actualization, the highest level, refers to the need to fulfill one's potential and is seen in Subaru's journey toward becoming a hero in the alternate world. This need is continuous and remains a constant objective for Subaru. However, as evident throughout the series, Subaru's progression to this stage is consistently challenged by the fluctuating state of his lower-level needs.

Bowlby's Attachment Theory, Defense Mechanisms, and Toxic Attachments Bowlby's attachment theory suggests that an individual's early relationships and attachments significantly influence their emotional development and interactions in later relationships (Bowlby, 1969). Subaru's relationships with Emilia, Rem, and Beako reflect various attachment styles, underpinning his emotional growth and development. With Emilia, Subaru tries to form a secure attachment, evident in his constant desire to be in her presence and the comfort he draws from their interactions. He trusts her and often seeks emotional refuge in her, indicative of the secure base in such attachments. However, Subaru's actual relationship with Emilia for most of the series so far presents a slightly different attachment style. While he exhibits affection for Emilia, his constant need to affirm his feelings suggests an anxious-preoccupied attachment. Here, Subaru's reliance on Emilia and others for emotional validation often leads to insecurity and anxiety. In a manner, Subaru seeks validation and approval from Emilia, like his yearning for his father's recognition. Subaru's relationship with Beako demonstrates a disorganized attachment style. This form of attachment is characterized by patterns of behavior that lack a coherent strategy for managing stress and fear (Bretherton, 1992). Subaru seems to fluctuate between seeking some form of comfort from Beako and being wary of her unpredictable responses, resulting in a complex and often turbulent dynamic.
Defense Mechanisms in Subaru's Psychological Development Let us talk a little about Subaru's coping strategies in the face of the series' numerous challenges, often aligning with classic defense mechanisms outlined in psychoanalytic theory. For example, he frequently uses denial, especially in the initial stages of the series. Unable to cope with the harsh reality of his situation, Subaru often ignores or denies some of the evident problems he encounters. As his journey progresses, he begins to employ more adaptive defense mechanisms. For instance, he uses humor to diffuse tense situations, a mechanism often associated with mature psychological coping. He also demonstrates sublimation, channeling his negative emotions into productive activities, like devising survival strategies or working towards resolving conflicts.
Toxic Attachments in Subaru's Relationships Although attachment forms the foundation of social bonds, it can also lead to toxic relationships when mismanaged. In Subaru's case, his strong attachments occasionally push him into toxic behavior. His attachment to Emilia, for instance, initially leads him to be overprotective and controlling, disregarding her autonomy. This behavior is typical of toxic attachment, where one person excessively depends on another for emotional support or validation. However, it is essential to note that Subaru learns from these negative experiences. He gradually understands the importance of respecting individual autonomy and independence, moving away from toxic behavior patterns as he grows. This transformation further underscores the importance of cognitive growth and self-awareness in establishing and maintaining healthy relationships.
Kohlberg's Theory of Moral Development and Subaru's Moral Maturation Subaru's moral growth can be explored using Kohlberg's theory of development (Kohlberg, 1981). This theory encompasses three stages; pre-conventional, conventional, and post-conventional, all of which can be observed in Subaru's relationships with Emilia, Rem, and Beako. Regarding Emilia, Subaru initially operates at the conventional stage by relying on deceit to navigate the unfamiliar world. However, as he matures, he begins to prioritize norms reflecting the conventional stage. As his connections with others deepen over time, Subaru's moral reasoning advances to the post-conventional stage. His selfless actions in protecting Emilia and Rem despite their objections demonstrate a standpoint and signify Subaru's’ progress from self-centeredness to becoming an empathetic and ethical individual (Gilligan, 1982).
Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Theory and Subaru's Growth Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory suggests that an individual's development is influenced by systems of relationships that form their environment, ranging from immediate settings to broader social and cultural contexts (Bronfenbrenner, 1979). In Re: Zero, Subaru's growth, and development can be understood within the framework of these interacting systems. At the microsystem level, Subaru's immediate relationships with Emilia, Rem, and Beako shape his behaviors, emotions, and attitudes. Each relationship introduces unique challenges and rewards, significantly influencing his perception of himself and his environment. For instance, Subaru's growing emotional intelligence and resilience can be linked to his experiences within these microsystems. The mesosystem, which involves interactions between different elements of an individual's microsystem, also plays a crucial role in Subaru's growth. For example, the dynamics between Subaru, Emilia, and Rem introduce Subaru to the complexity of social interactions and the importance of understanding and managing interrelation conflicts. The exosystem, which includes environments not directly experienced but still influential, is represented by the broader political and social structures of the alternate world. Subaru's struggles and efforts to navigate these complex systems—such as the royal selection process and the conflicts between different factions—further drive his psychological and emotional growth. The outermost layer involving broader cultural values and customs, the macrosystem heavily influences Subaru's adaptation to the new world. The values and social norms of the alternate world, distinct from his own, compel Subaru to reassess his behaviors, attitudes, and beliefs, fostering personal growth. Lastly, the chronosystem, encompassing changes over time, is fundamental to understanding Subaru's development. His unique ability to "return by death," which involves temporal changes, provides him with multiple opportunities to learn from his mistakes and adapt his behaviors accordingly.
Tumblr media
Cognitive Distortions and Subaru's Psychological Evolution Subaru frequently experiences cognitive distortions, irrational thought patterns that tend to reinforce negative thoughts or emotions (Burns, 1989). The most prominent among them is catastrophic thinking, where Subaru perceives a situation as far worse than it is. This distortion is particularly apparent during his early days in the alternate world, where every challenge or setback is viewed as insurmountable, triggering extreme responses, such as desperate pleas for help or self-sacrificial actions. These cognitive distortions come to light in his relationship with his companions. For instance, when Emilia rejects Subaru's overbearing protection, he catastrophically perceives it as the end of their relationship. His interactions with Beako and Rem further amplify this cognitive distortion, where he sees every disagreement or conflict as a personal failure or an indication of their waning trust in him. However, through consistent exposure to his cognitive distortions and their subsequent consequences, Subaru gradually learns to address them. He learns that disagreements or conflicts are not always catastrophic and can be resolved through communication and mutual understanding. His repeated failures (relapses) and successes in navigating the new world's challenges reinforce this understanding.
Tumblr media
Relapses and Personal Growth Subaru's' journey toward growth and understanding involves experiencing relapses as elements. According to the Transtheoretical Model of behavior change, setbacks or relapses are not indicators of failure but integral parts of the change process (Prochaska et al., 1992). This model recognizes that individuals attempting to change their behaviors do not follow a path. Rather a cyclical one encompassing stages like pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance, and even relapse. In Re: Zero, this cycle is evident through Subaru's’ ability to reset back to a point every time he dies. Each reset represents a relapse triggered by distortions or unsuccessful attempts at overcoming challenges. However, with each reset comes lessons for Subaru as he learns from his mistakes, reevaluates his approach, and develops strategies for survival and problem-solving. These repeated relapses and subsequent cycles of learning and growth significantly contribute to Subaru's development, emotional maturity, and moral evolution.
Conclusion The character growth and development of Subaru in Re: Zero explores many psychological theories within the complexities of his journey. From the perspective of Maslow's hierarchy of needs, Bowlby's attachment theory, and Kohlberg's moral development stages, this series gives us an insight into psychology. Subaru's use of defense mechanisms, interactions within Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems, ability to overcome distortions, and understanding that setbacks are part of personal growth all contribute to his development and maturity. Emilia, Rem, Beako, and all other characters play big roles in this journey as catalysts and companions for Subaru. They offer support while presenting challenges that help him grow, highlighting the significance of relationships in development.

AN OPEN LETTER to THE PRESIDENT & U.S. CONGRESS
Petition Against Israel's Forced Displacement and Threats of Violence
13 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!
Dear President Biden and Members of Congress,
We, the undersigned, express our deep concern and condemnation of Israel's ongoing acts of forced displacement and threats of violence against those who seek to return home.
The forced displacement of individuals from their homes is a violation of fundamental human rights and international law. It leads to immense suffering, loss of livelihoods, and perpetuates cycles of poverty and instability.
Furthermore, the threats of violence against those who seek to return home are reprehensible and undermine the basic principles of safety and security for all individuals, regardless of their background or beliefs.
We call upon the international community to take immediate and decisive action to pressure Israel to cease these illegal and inhumane practices. We urge governments, international organizations, and civil society to:
1. Condemn Israel's actions in the strongest terms possible and demand an immediate halt to all forced displacement and threats of violence.
2. Provide support and assistance to those affected by forced displacement, including access to shelter, healthcare, and legal aid.
3. Ensure accountability for those responsible for perpetrating and enabling these violations of human rights and international law.
4. Work towards a just and lasting solution based on the principles of equality, justice, and respect for human rights.
We stand in solidarity with the victims of forced displacement and violence and call for justice and accountability for all those affected.
