The Curse of Magical Girl AU

So as I mentioned before I talk with some ppl on discord and we might see more Robins. As I said, I was open to add more Robins if ppl had ideas and followed the design conceptions of the AU. You all are free to add more as long as the ideas are talked about and communicated so no overlap happens. Draw and design away; alternative form for the ones I've done too is okay too. I know someone is working on; Mia Mizoguchi AKA Robin Morganite | Robin Mort | RM and I think jar juggling is one of the weapons considered. I got provided video proof of how sick it is. If you wanna know the design conventions, they are: They must have 3 forms. One is base form, and the second is alt, aka princess/prince. And last is the lethal mode. They gain a white streak in their hair after a stroke with death. Shown in Jay's example. Babs will gain one after her tango with Joker to, just wanted to show what she og looked like. They all have an individual style R with a gem * as it's a play on a contract clause. R* Their weapon transforms, but it's generally good to keep it close in function/appearance to keep them on the theme. Only lethal for may use a deadly weapon. Weapon for Normal and Alt mode must be an item a person can perform with that could be considered acrobatic. Hence, the reference vids. All hololigth details but for the glasses must go into the weapon in lethal mode. The undersuit is always the darkest and lightest of the gem colors. One Guy and Girl will have matching details, such as bows, as they are dance partners and can do a unique combo move together if they dance. Notably Babs & Dick, Stef & Tim. My plans for the rest are as follows: Jay & Cas, Harper & Duke. Dami is doing solo, but I have Carrie in mind for later, possibly. Each of them has A full hero name: Robin Gem-name. One shortened version, that's a "fake name" using Robin as a last name. And the first name is the derivative name of either the initial name or the gem. Robin Gem or Robin Argi. RG is the initial name. Robin is first on the fake name cuz it mimics Anime naming conventions to refer back to the maho shojo genre and the naming tradition of anime's home country. For nontransparent gems, you can color pick from other gems of the color. The gem's name is something they chose not to be called Robin. So, they chose a gem most people are more likely to recognize. So Babs decided to go by Jasper when her Gem colors are lifted from a Citine Gem. Hair must change in some way; making it longer or shorter is up to you, regardless of Sex. Robin gets gender swapped by the curse. If a person is intersex, the curse will get confused and only transform the outfit and hair but leave the body alone. As it's based on bio-gender and not what gender one identifies as. The curse is not that smart to figure that out. The OG Robin Bracelet is always safe in the music box, but phantom versions appear in the Robins, so they can summon weapons out of it. They can be present one moment and be gone the next; think nanotech transforming. I have on hand a list of possibilities (But there is no way I'll make the whole alphabet alone)

Oh do you know in transformers g1 cartoon there concept of headmaster?

I meant an autobot/Cybertron having organic partners inside their head like literally inside their head.

And when transformers change be alt mode their head separate from their body then change into suit for organic partners inside their head to used. (It's almost look like a power ranger inside megazord)

It's old concept but can you imagine if the at becoming live action. Also if they want like bayverse make humans and earth be central story (age existence in good opportunity for that) . They should using g concept headmaster, also it's can be good combine humans and transformers

I thought it would be a fun way to evolve the way humans are able to engage with cybertronians and how more dynamic it could be in combat like pacific rim instead of just get down mister president style of human run to cover

Also the storyline’s I’ve learned about with headmasters or human integration are very horrifying mental tournament kinda routes

I feel they might have tried to bridge into that with rise of the beasts with Noah and mirage but idk if they’ll be able to pick it up again for a follow through or try another soft reboot till they get it right

I am very interested in the Transformers One cybermorph AU. And how D-16 and Orion (and B and Elita) react to the discovery.

Because Orion would not abandon D for anything at this point. B probably has no idea what a Cybermorph is, and Elita might know, but with all the other lies Sentinel told, who knows what the truth actually is.

But Alpha Trion is, of course, right there...

Wheee someone else shares my interest (งᐛ)ว I'm thinking that, in this situation, those under Sentinel's rule don't know about the morphs. They appeared very late in the war, and perhaps their emergence could've helped pave the way for Sentinel's betrayal. Orion and friends are completely blindsided by their existence >:)

Consider: D-16 who is Queen Mother Galvatron's lost little morphling, displaced during the war somehow 🤭 without his cog he's stuck in permanent root mode, and has no idea what he is. Neither does anyone else, save for one person 👀 it's Sentinel, he knows and has been holding onto him as a last ditch effort bargaining chip to use against the hive

Godddd im just thinking about the angst, Dee's already horrified and sickened by everything he found out about Sentinel, then Alpha Trion grants them their cogs and the alt mode he finds waiting for him is one of those things. Idk exactly when, but at some point during their journey they saw morphs in all of their terrifying glory.

In the movie where he fired his very first shot from his cannon, blasting that vehicon (press f for steve), that's instead switched out for him leaping onto the drone and tearing it apart with his teeth and claws akin to the vicious mauling attacks of the neomorphs, screeching and chittering threateningly in a language he doesn't understand ("BACK OFF MY HIVE!" He shrieks in morphspeak. "OFF! AWAY! MINE!"

Then he hears B-127 make a strangled noise and the scrambling of pedes, and he looks up and sees the other three staring at him in mild horror and disgust. He flinches back, drawing up to his full height, and finally looks down at himself--before backpedalling in shock himself because no no no no no, this can't be- this isn't happening- he's not- he can't be-!

His back hits a trees and he pounds a panicked fist into his chest once, twice, "Get it off get it off getitoff!" tone panicky by the third hit. He wants to be back in root mode, now, and finally that seems to do it. He shifts back down to his original form, and touches his face anxiously, observing his fingers and feeling his denta, razor sharp a moment ago but now flat. "I- I'm me?!" He asks, sounding strangled. "I- I'm still me- I- I'm still-"

"...Dee-" he looks up, startled, chassis heaving in fast, shallow gasps. He finds Orion in front of him, expression full of concern, brows upturned and mouth pressed into a thin line. "Dee, what... how... wh-why didn't you ever tell me?!"

"Tell you?! I didn't know myself until just now- don't look at me like that, th-this is a big shock for me too!" he has his arms wrapped around himself as if he could physically hold himself together. His optics flit from Orion to the other two behind him. Standing a safe distance away, and looking tense. Ready to run.

"Ok, so," Elita one refuses to let her hands shake, so she hops from foot to foot to work off the nervous energy, trying to appear ready. "What, are we, you know. Going to do?"

"We're taking this to Iacon-"

"Not that," she swats Pax's shoulder. "I mean about," her optics flick over toward D-16 meaningfully. "Him."

"Uh, I'm right here-"

"What do you mean, Elita?" Orion shifts closer to D-16. "I don't... why wouldn't he come with us?"

"Because he's one of them?! You want to bring one of those things straight to Iacon?!"

"I am right here-"

"Elita, what- he's not like them, he's- Dee and I, we've all been fri-"

"Ap-pup-pup!" She thrusts a silencing finger in his face. "Pax I have been extremely forgiving up til now, I didn't scrap you when you got me fired, I didn't slag you when you got me thrown off a train, I didn't even slag you or bigmouth back here when you dragged me onto this stupid quest. "Maybe I will!" Elita growls. "I don't know what you are exactly but I saw what your little brothers and sisters did back there, I am not gonna let you do the same thing to our home!"

"It's my home too, or did you forget that?! You're older than me, you were there the day I... came..." the silver mech's face suddenly goes slack, and he straightens up from the slight hunch he'd entered so they could yell at each other face to face. "Online. Wait..." a trouble shadow slides across his expression. "Did I come online? Or, was I... did I..."

If he's a cybermorph, then... that means he wasn't constructed cold. From the little they know, morphs are a techno-organic species. They can't be constructed cold. Where did he come from, then? From who did he come from? How did he come to be in Iacon in the first place?

so just watched the first episode of go-bots. y'know, just seeing what's going on over there. thoughts:

-you all weren't kidding about crasher's laugh. she is iconic honestly

-wait is this show actually good has my fandom lied to me

-couple weird errors (?) with the audio. eh it happens. might even just be weirdness with the copy i'm watching idk. didn't notice any animation errors though!! maybe i just don't know the designs well maybe you all have just secretly been better animated this whole time but as a transformers fan i am NOT used to this -kinda prefer how they draw human characters here!! less realistic but more expressive. the robots themselves are also a lot less rigid than i'm used to, kinda like it -can't get over cy-kill's alt mode. his face is still visible and they don't hide it with cartoony magic they EMBRACE it, they have him EMOTE. he is clearly just holding his wheels between his arms and legs and calling that good enough. a legend honestly

-ok that guy being the one helping the renegades is not at all shocking i was thinking it like. ages ago. its an 80s cartoon though my bar on twist villains is kinda low

overall first impression: gobots is better than it has any right to be. crasher especially is legendary. one singular thumbs up

Ooh, I have a TF OC that I could never figure out how to draw… I do have their altmode and some headshots tho!

(Don’t mind the low quality photo… it makes everything look darker so use the alt colors for it, they should have all the colors for it minus the visor)

His name is Firetide and he’s a Decepticon. He loves earth’s oceans and has wave decals everywhere (obviously). He’s pretty cocky but surprisingly compassionate, if not bloodthirsty and violent. Despite the flashy paintjob and arrogant attitude, he actually works as a saboteur— most of the time he keeps his visor off because he thinks everyone deserves to see it, but he engages it for missions because it keeps him in the right mindset. I still don’t know how exactly he doesn’t get caught considering… everything about him, but he makes it work he’s just that good, ig.

Anyway, Firetide has a build similar to Sideswipe in the Bayverse movies (the tires as a kind of roller skate). He can transform them into normal pedes, but he can still roll on them like Heelys (Heelies? Heely’s? Idk, it’s the shoe you can roll on). This does mean he can slip easily if caught off guard, but he’s survived the war for this long, so… (his design is meant to fit into IDW, but that’s just how I prefer drawing, I imagine him more in TFP as a subordinate and constant annoyance to Soundwave)

His alt mode is based on the Apollo Project EVO

(Yes, Firetide does have doorwings)

And uh… that’s all I can think of rn. I could never finish making a full body for him since this car is really hard to draw and I wanted to incorporate parts of it. You don’t have to do that but the car is still super cool

consider… you guys give me your transformer ocs to draw… (I am so bored please please please)

(Even if you don’t have a ref of them I will take a lovingly detailed description (tho that might end up falling into creative liberties territory and I do silly things so you have to be specific if you want that to happen or not)

The scariest thing Alexa is going through in mainverse is the mortifying ordeal of being known, via the friendships he's being resocialized by. He's bypassed that with Leal! There's no uncomfortable soul-bearing, mostly because they're alts, but also because they just vibe. He's comfortable turning the performance mode down and being open with him. It doesn't feel like opening up. It's just, natural and easy.

Alexa really feels like they're on the same wavelength wrt a lot of things, and it makes the relationship so easy! It's super great that he can do things like smooch tf outta Leal, know Leal isn't going to misread his intentions, and know Leal doesn't have any untowards intentions. Even things like their idiosyncracies like lying on the floor/under the couch when they're not okay. No explanations needed, it's just, really comfortable.

(I think at the basis of every friendship with an alternate, is self-love, because that's his alt! That's him! Alexa likes his alts by default because he likes himself, but over time as he's gotten to know Leal, he really likes him for who he is as an individual, too. The line is hard to draw, it's messy.)

One thing he ADORES about Leal is how Leal carries himself so well, so properly, but is secretly a HUGE CLOWN, and when the clown comes out, it really sends Alexa REELING. Leal is lowkey the funniest motherfucker in the radio tower. He finds it endearing that Leal is so good with kids, and that he's such a good kewpie to Val, too. Val is babey and Leal treating her good is endearing. Leal's taste in 80's synth and 90's-2000's pop is also endearing. His black hair and red antlers and lil glasses are endearing. The fact that Leal had a reputation above ground as Casanova is hysterical.

Also idk how to explain this, but he genuinely feels on equal footing with Leal and doesn't feel like he needs a sense of Control over the situation. Idk how to explain it!! But like!! Even on a performative level, he likes being the Gentleman (chosen gender), he's the one who sticks the ring on the other person, invites them out, does the flattery, all that stuff. He likes to be the doer, not the recipient, if that makes sense? So it's really special he's willing to go half n half and like, let Leal sweet talk him into a garbled mess, let Leal make his static hitch, etc. He's otherwise so cagey and it's nice to see him this comfortable with another person.

colours are vibe based. anyone who watches 80s cartoons knows it was all about what PHYSICAL PAINTS they had at the studio. there using the same colours for screamer. OR for the darker one i went saturated but theres a few guys who are like rusty red, see that fella above. U GET IT.

BASICALLY. kid appeal. i was going for trying to get her gold colour more in her design and then i realized more orange on her make her look kinda silly and sporty... like the tricolour IS a bit much... but so is tracks u know? the vibe here is shed be like a bumblebee or a hotrod (yes cv IS one of my favie shows) so she can have a silly colour scheme and hang out with sporty autobots, the young feeling aerialbots, that kinda stuff.

fighter is the idea that like. shed need a more serious paint job. maybe a little stealthy? but to give her a louder personality. and shes more monochromtic but i was thinking of render shots they do for megatron or warpath, on all that metal, paint and glass. shes definityly hanging out with powerglide or tracks or anyone else who's really annoying <333333 lmao.

idk i’m bored. What’s Homestuck^2? What’s epilogues? We’re strictly Homestuck in this house. Also only doing main characters, I’m not going to dive into the Felt or caparacians, I want this to be done today.

Beta kids:

June: Avid reader. Got in early and read the whole thing. Got shirts, unironically liked it.

Rose: Got in late, but got into it. Loved the tarot deck, uses it to pretend she’s reading while she just tells people their truths. Noticed some narrative issues but overall liked it.

Dave: Got in shortly after June did, read for a while, but his irony poisoning led to him sassing the HECK out of it. Made a diss blog. Kept reading it “ironically” and cannot tell if he actually likes it or not. Got a god tier hoodie he wears at home. Sampled some of the soundtracks for his raps.

Jade: Loved it. LOVED IT. Got the full soundtrack. Made remixes. Got all the shirts. One of the blogs that posted “UPD8!” whenever an update happened. Big fanartist during the Gigapauses.

June’s Dad: Tried to get into it to connect to his daughter’s interest, but the memes were too much, so he became the “Are ya winning, daughter?” dad. Very supportive but would need fifty slow paced “Homestuck explained” videos.

Mom Lalonde: Read it, but was too intoxicated to remember most. She holds obscure knowledge and will remember minute trivia, but don’t ask her about any of the large plot points.

Dirk: Deep, DEEP character examinations. Draws diagrams, writes essays. Unironically liked the potential of Paradox Space, may have even submit his own stories to be a guest artist.

Jake: Read the whole thing, liked it, missed many connections and plot points, was satisfied with the ending. Got some merch, can say “I read Homestuck” in public and be blissfully unaware of any positive and negative baggage that comes with saying so.

Jane’s Dad: Much like June’s Dad, tried to get into it. Unlike June’s Dad, watched and read his daughter’s theories (and Dirk’s explanations when Jane linked them to him) and became A Walking Homestuck Encyclopedia. Jane is unsure how to feel about this. He, however, does not reference it.

Roxy’s Rosemom: Too busy fighting the good fight to read. It’s in her radar but didn’t get the time to read it.

Dirk’s Davedad: Read it as a novelty. Sent Hussie a gold-plated Bad Dragon dildo. Put offhand references to it on his movies, but they were so oblique that even readers didn’t get it.

Jade English: Too busy running her own baking good company to read Homestuck. Not even in her radar.

Alternia Trolls:

Aradia: Much like Dirk, got REAL DEEP into it. Makes youtube vids explaining classpects and narrative points. Actually wrote a dissertation on Homestuck.

Tavros: Tried to get into it, but the first few acts were not to his taste so he never got to the trolls ironically enough. Likes the character designs though.

Sollux: Next level Dave. Critiques the FUQUE out of it on every platform he can. If Hatedom is a thing, he made it. He’s the founder. It’s him. But he read it to the end.

Karkat: Read it, loves it, does some interesting character relationship examinations. Predicted who would end up with who with 100% accuracy. Wasn’t a vocal fan, didn’t get merch, but still liked it.

Nepeta: The shipper who launched a thousand ships. She writes crackfic but with deep care, making sure it makes sense that characters would end up together. Got one of every homestuck shirt. Very into it.

Kanaya: Got into it only because her friends got into it. If Karkat hadn’t talked about it she would not have gotten into it but she did because she wants to be able to carry a conversation with her friends. Not a huge fan.

Terezi: She can and WILL correct you if you get trivia wrong. She did not sit through hours of text-to-speech pesterlogs for some scrub to get it wrong. Defiant Homestuck defender. She’ll cut you if you say you don’t like Homestuck (she won’t, but she’s judging you from the other side of the room)

Vriska: Skipped the first acts and jumped right into Alternia. Little context, little care. Pretends she didn’t, gets facts hilariously wrong which Terezi takes as an invitation to tease her. Fanartist.

Equius: Another fanartist. He made physical media as opposed to drawings. Slow reader, got into it late and didn’t finish until way after the comic had ended. Did not get to experience the comic without Random Paradox Arms all over the place. Loved by the community for his short reaction posts about what happened at the point he’s at.

Gamzee: Either first person to post “Update” when comic updated, or doesn’t read for months and then catches up in two days. Skips many chat logs, but still gets most of the plot no problem. Remembers exact phrasing of the posts he does read though.

Eridan: Another Character Analysis blogger. He dives into (pun unintended) why some characters are The Absolute Worst and writes fanfic of how they would be if they had a chance to be in a different circumstances. The Problematique fan, but only because people assume the worst of him. He’s actually pretty chill.

Feferi: Superfan, and Super Content Creator. Started making plushies and charms and eventually started selling them. Her stuff became a badge of honor and people posted themselves hugging their plushies during the gigapause.

Ancestors:

Too busy caught up in their personal turmoils to read any of it. Except the Condesce. She sent Hussie a diamond-studded Bad Dragon dildo.

Beforus trolls:

Damara: Big fan, but doesn’t express it because of the crowd she’s with. But she has a blog where she tries to get in touch with new readers and is always open to answer questions others might have. Not a Big Name fan, but she’s much more vocal online than in person, and even then it’s through an alt account.

Rufioh: Got people into it, but he himself didn’t finish reading after the Scratch. Said he would but he just never got to doing so.

Mituna: Prone to ranting when updates happened. Very emotionally invested, nearly died when Game Over happened.

Kankri: The nitpicker to end all nitpicks. He critiqued everything, and hated that there were hero mode, simplified and silly drawings. Genuinely disliked all characters for faults that he himself has, yet never self-examined. Got a following that  consisted three-quarters of people who made fun of his rants and one-quarter of people who were as intense as he is.

Meulin: Big, BIG fan. Prolific fanfic writer, if a character pairing exists, rarepair or not, she wrote a fic about them. Likes all characters and as such thinks she must devote roughly the same wordcount for everyone she can. Disappears for months then reemerges with twenty new fics.

Porrim: Moderate fan, great cosplayer. The more complex the outfit, the more she wanted to make it. Routinely goes out in Jade’s Dead Shuffle and Three in the Morning dresses because she is incredibly proud of them.

Latula: Not a big fan. Knows most of what she knows through cultural osmosis because her friends got into it, but she’s not likely to ever read it herself. Likes how into it her friends are though.

Aranea: Much like Jane’s Dad, she’s the walking encyclopedia, except she memorized the content of almost every page, and if she doubts her knowledge, will immediately go to her computer and look up what she is unsure of. Tries not to talk people’s ears off and will only talk about Homestuck when asked about it.

Horuss: Super into it. To a maybe creepy degree. Doesn’t show in public but if you get access to his secret blogs it’s more like character shrines. Don’t dig too deep into it.

Kurloz: Read it, kinda into it, but not that big of a fan. He will talk about it but he’s pretty lukewarm about the whole thing.

Cronus: Read it to impress a crush, got genuinely into it, but isn’t a vocal fan.

Meenah: Didn’t read it, much like Latula learned about it because everyone around her talked about it. Unlike Latula, she mocks everyone for liking something she says is “for nerds”. Still kinda wants to read it to be part of the conversation but her pride of Not Knowing About Homestuck is too great to overcome that hurdle.

OHHH mannnnNNNNN i love this issue SO MUCH. what a good fun emotional rollercoaster wrap-up to mtmte s1. god. 

like, this issue has it all - humor, drama, crippling sadness, intrigue, worldbuilding...it’s so excellent 

and getting to see rewind again hurts so bad but also I love him

ok quick mtmte s1 retrospective...god s1 is so fucking good. I'm gonna have to read more to say which chunk of mtmte I liked best but s1 is so fucking excellent that it might be my favorite. though its hard to pick bc there's so much good stuff later on too...whatever, the point is s1 is so so good

the plotlines and characters are fucking stellar. like I cant even believe how well Everything works, its very impressive. I cant really think of anything major that made me go ‘yeah could've done without that plotline/character’

I love how dedicated jro is to connecting everything. I've mentioned it before but basically every single moment in the series has payoff - what you initially think is just a funny moment, or a fluffy character establishment bit, ends up ALSO being an important plot point later, in some way

an example would be here w/rung and his alt mode - it just seems like a fun little B-plot for this issue, and seems to pretty neatly conclude with the reveal that rung was eventually classified as an ‘ornament’ (lmao)...but we later on get to see a lot more about this, both here and in the functionist universe 

and like, stuff like tailgate’s autobot lessons w/magnus - at first that can be seen as purely character establishment stuff, showing that magnus is a strict rule-lover and tg is a loveable try-hard good boy - but that becomes plot relevant in remain in light, with tailgate saving the day due to his knowledge of the autobot code (and its also character relevant, with magnus’s arc in remain in light). 

and I know this is like. a normal regular thing in writing, but I'm just very impressed about how cleanly jro pulls it off, and how many things he’s juggling at once, especially in early mtmte - it’s very ambitious!

and we gotta remember, this is a comic book. I've read a lot of comic books, and the quality is all over the place. a lot of writers bite off more than they can chew, and the story ends up kinda scattered as a result. 

another thing I see a lot in franchise writing like this is a lack of strong early character establishing due to the author assuming the readers are at least somewhat familiar with the characters already - which can be totally fair depending on where it is in the continuity, but other times it can come off as lazy

in mtmte, the cast is extremely well fleshed out, and not only that, the cast itself is unique in that there are a lot of relative unknowns (franchise-wise) - which I think was an absolutely brilliant move, because then jro was able to essentially create The Definitive Version of these characters - characters like swerve, brainstorm, chromedome, rewind, tailgate...mtmte is their baseline characterization, because they haven't really appeared in much else

this also allows for deviation from the franchise norms - again, a comic book classic is good writing being stifled by a need to stick to a certain status quo regard the characters, the world, the powers, relationships, etc

(I've mostly read DC comics, and some marvel, so I'm thinking superheroes w/all these comic comparisons)

so mtmte had a good recipe for genuine creativity in that the characters were relative unknowns, the plot was basically ‘space road trip,’ the status quo of ‘autobot vs decepticon war’ had been demolished throughout the entire franchise...so jro was able to take all that and run, and it turned out so fantastic

and luckily it isn't over yet! so many comics suffer from premature cancellation...and sadly mtmte/ll isn't exempt from this, as we’ll see later, but I've seen some awful ones, where comics are forced to wrap up in like 2 issues while in the middle of an arc. yikes. 

but another comic staple...one of my least favorite things about comics books in general...something that was basically responsible for driving me away from comics after reading a bunch...the dreaded crossover event

yep, even mtmte isn't immune to this unfortunate plague on the comic industry. crossover events are the absolute worst, and I'm saying this as somebody who adores crossovers (in concept more than execution usually). they SHOULD be my favorite, but unfortunately they p much always completely suck

they're essentially a ploy to get you to read the other ongoing titles, but they usually only serve to bog down whatever story you're reading to the point where you don't even wanna read that one anymore, let alone read all the other ongoings. at least, that’s been my experience 

it doesn't help that reading orders tend to be hard to find/keep track of, and that you need to go read the other series to know what's going on. I just hate it, like, I came here to read THIS series, I don't want a bunch of other series showing up too - even if I was reading two series, I wouldn't want them crossed over, because they're separate stories! augh!

I'm totally losing my focus here but my point is...crossover events suck, and mtmte unfortunately is involved in one. I have not read dark cybertron, and I'm not about to. I've heard nothing but bad things so I have no desire to inflict that upon myself 

soooo ill be reading through the tfwiki articles for those issues to give myself a better understanding of what went on - which is more than I've ever done in the past - and maybe ill even make a single post summarizing my thoughts on what I read in the wiki, lmao

but yea ill be skipping to the mtmte s2 stuff next 

phew ok I'm super tired, my vision keeps blurring out and stuff lmao. its time for bed, I probably have more thoughts but ill save them for later. for now...peace out!
