Playing Minecraft W/ The SpiderVerse Kids

i’ve been playing a lot of Minecraft recently and thought of what it’d be like to play with them so.. here you go!

Miles Morales (e!1610!)

He prefers Creative over Survival for sure, reasoning: he’s scared of the mobs and refuses to fight them

Plus in Creative it’s a lot easier for him to build stuff because he is definitely The Big Builder or The Decorator. He makes the most outrageous buildings but they look good

Has a whole world full of buildings and stuff. Like, complete towns filled with mansions

Playing with him is a lot of fun though! He’ll come up with build designs with you and you’d work together. If not, the two of you would totally mess around, building things just to blow them up with TNT or set it on fire

Miles is the one to put your beds next to each other. He thinks it’s cute, though he’ll do it without saying anything and if you mention it he becomes a stuttering mess and says he knows nothing and didn’t do it.

If you do end up playing Survival with him he will make you kill all the mobs, no doubt about it. He’ll make the base, probably trade with villagers, farm and kill the animals for food but not much else. He’s too afraid of dying

“Miles, did you put the beds next to each other? Because I know I didn’t.” You snicker teasingly, your character staring at the beds then at his character. You turn yourself to glance at him and notice his eyes are wide and he’s blushing.

“What..? What, me? Nooo.. That’s stupid why would I do that? Maybe you forgot that you did it because I didn’t.” He stumbled over his words, refusing eye contact. It was cute.

“Mhm, okay. Y’know, maybe I did forget. I think it’s a cute idea, though.” You smirked, kissing his cheek before turning back to the screen and continued playing.

Gwen Stacy

I think she’d play Survival and only Survival, claims Creative is for the weak

She goes all out in Minecraft, fighting mobs, getting achievements, going to the Nether, all of that. She’s not afraid

Definitely The Pro or The Achiever. Like I said, Gwen goes all out

She’d forcefully make you go with her, but she’d give you the right equipment needed and pointers on how to fight. If you genuinely don’t want to fight with her she’d have you farm and trade, pretty much do the smaller necessities for survival.

Has finished Minecraft several times, got all the achievements and everything on different worlds, never gets old for her

If you got her to play Creative she’d go on a rampage, killing everything for fun. Or she’d fly around trying to find different biomes

“C’monnn.. it’s not that bad!” Gwen would groan, trying to convince you to go to the Nether with her. “I’ve given all the armor and tools you need! Just try not to die.”

“Try not to die?? It’s the Nether, I’ll die no matter what! I’m not a pro like you. I’m not the one who’s finished this game multiple times.” You gave her an incredulous look, gaping at her words. It’s one thing to not die on the main world, that was usually easy, but the Nether? Yeah right, she’s insane.

“You’re overreacting.. Plus, if I’m a pro, wouldn’t that make you feel better that you’d be with me? Not by yourself.” She chuckled, arguing her point. You just scoffed and told her to go, following in after her.

Pavitr Prabhakar

I see him playing both Creative and Survival. Just really depends on his mood. Either way he’s having fun

He’d be The Zookeeper, collecting animals like Pokémon cards for real. Within the first 30 minutes of playing he already has a house full of cats and dogs, probably three parrots flying around him and is starting an animal farm. How? No idea, he just does

In Creative mode he’d spawn them all, naming all the animals with name tags one by one, even coloring the dog collars too

In Survival he’s taming every animal he sees, using a lead to bring the animal to a fenced in area. There’s one full of cows, pigs, horses, all the usual ones. But he even has them for pandas, camels, and turtles.

He’s also one to place his bed next to you, though unlike Miles, he’s not embarrassed by it, actually stating out loud he’s doing it. No shame at all.

When he’s not collecting animals, he’s following you around. He has no idea where you’re going or what you’re doing but he doesn’t care. He’s following and collecting every flower he sees, claiming he’s gonna make a bouquet for you.

“Hey, Pav? Where’s the- woah what the hell? How do you already have a whole army of pandas? Where’d you even get those from? We’re no where near a jungle..” You questioned, beyond surprise by the sight of around a dozen pandas in a fenced up area. It was even decorated to what a panda would need, looking like a small jungle.

“Hm? You say that likes it’s hard to find them! What’s so bad about it? I think they’re cute!” He smiled brightly, his character jumping around in the area full of pandas. “I have more than just pandas!”

“How?? We haven’t even played for more than an hour! When did you do all this?” While it was probably better not to question him, you needed to know how he did it, and seeing him more than happy to explain made it all the more better.

Hobie Brown (sorry it’s shorter than the rest)

He genuinely does not care if y’all play Creative or Survival, doesn’t matter to him, he’s gonna be a complete menace either way

He’s not any of the type of players listed in the site I used, he doesn’t believe in consistency. He can go from killing mobs to farming. His main goal is to fuck with you though

He never gets you killed in Survival but he will mess around. He’ll hit your character (without a sword or anything) when you’re fighting a mob and run away. It’s like playing with a child

I can see him setting a village on fire and saying something along the lines of “they’re capitalist pigs and deserve to die” or something

All in all, he’s not much of a fan of Minecraft but he’ll play it with you if you ask.

“Hobie, why is there a village on fire? What did you do?” You raised a brow at him, staring at the slight smirk on his face. It was a telltale sign he did it, but you knew it was him either way. There’s no way a village randomly caught on fire.

“What ya mean, luv? Oh, tha’. Yeah I did tha’. Bunch a capitalist pigs, I tell ya. Jus’ doin’ my job gettin rid of ‘em.” He chuckled while setting another village on fire. You didn’t wanna know how many he’d set on fire at this point.

“It’s a game, B. And I need to trade with them, they have good stuff sometimes.” You whined, huffing at him. You know he doesn’t care and will do it anyways.

“Find another one then, luv.”

All of them!

My god is it a nightmare.. first it starts out as an argument, trying to decide whether or not y’all are playing Survival or Creative. Mainly Gwen and Miles though, Pavitr and Hobie don’t care.

After about ten minutes of arguing they decided to ask you, so whatever one you prefer is what y’all played on. Either way one of them is whining.

If you picked Survival it leads to a pouty Miles, complaining how he’s gonna die a lot, and a smiley Gwen.

Within the first day Miles has already made a small base for you guys, Pav has gathered a few animals (he pouted when it was stated the cows and such would be used for food eventually, Gwen was mining for ores, and Hobie was.. being Hobie.

It was surprising to see how smooth everyone seemed to work together for a while, considering before y’all even started playing an argument broke out. Though if y’all could work well together while on mission, why couldn’t you in a game, yeah?

Give it an hour or so.. bickering over stupid stuff is bound to happen.

If you picked Creative, Gwen is whining how it’s for losers, which causes Miles to flip her off and thank you for picking it.

With Creative there’s a lot less arguing and bickering. Though there is much more chaos. Y’all are blowing up everything or settlor on fire for fun.

It started with you all just doing your own thing until randomly Hobie brings up the idea.

“I ‘ave an idea..” Hobie says out of the blue, causing everyone to pause. You all look at him with a face of confusion or hesitation. Whenever he had an idea, it was wild or something went wrong in some way.

“Great.. you have an idea.. does it have to do with the game or real life? Because I don’t feel like blowing up a building in your universe again..” Gwen scoffed, the others nodding in agreement.

“Yeah.. I agree with Gwen.. last time you had an idea we almost got killed..” You chuckled dryly, still traumatized from that.

“Damn, no faith in me at all, huh?” He rolled his eyes. “Yea, in the game.. Don’t worry, don’t plan on killin’ y’all. Woulda done so already if I wanted to.”

That caused another pause in the room, silence too loud. Thank god for Miles for breaking it. “Okayyy… what’s your plan?”

“Well, Gwendy got blowin’ up a buildin’ correc’. Though, I meant in the game. Why not have some fun an’ blow up some shit, or set it on fire, yea?” It was a smart idea, surprisingly. Everyone agreed, just with some terms, mainly Pav and Miles.

“Sounds fun! As long as my animals are safe and out of it, I’m in!” Pavitr stated, Miles nodding in agreement, but for his builds.

“Woah, a surprisingly good idea.. Let’s do it! Let’s blow some shit up!” You poked fun at Hobie, before smiling widely. It concerned the others at how widely you smiled but brushed it off. They agreed with the idea so they must be just as crazy then. With that, buildings were blown up, forests were burnt down. It was so chaotic to the point that the game started to lag and eventually crashed, causing you all to burst out in laughter. Well, it was fun while it lasted.

I apologize for not posting yesterday, but hopefully this makes up for it! It’s longer than my normal posts. I hope you enjoy!

AITA for telling my friend to not tell their crush how they feel?

TW: mention of suicide

So my (16 M) friend (16 M) who we will call T is a very close friend of mine despite us only being friends for about 7 months. He recently went through a super traumatic break up. Like he walked to my house crying and was threatening his life it was that bad, but I’ve always been there to try and help him. I’ve also introduced him to my friend group which consists of 5 boys and 1 girl, who we will call L. L and me had been friends for years. Since we’ve been 4. Me and her aren’t super close but she is definitely someone I would put in my emergency contacts. I love her. She is one of my best friends and her and my boyfriend are also super close. She also had just gotten rejected by her long time crush. She is a very skittish lady and romance isn’t her top priority. She also has just met T. Like. Very recently. They have had 2 conversations maybe and that was in the last 2 weeks.

Now, here is where I might be the asshole. So T tends to be very dramatic. He exaggerates a lot of things and makes them seem a lot worse than they actually are. Like for example, he said his family would make fun of his previous girlfriend, when actually they were just teasing him about even having one and saying he was a lover boy (I’ve heard these conversations myself) Recently, T has told me that he had a crush on someone in our friend group and that he was thinking about telling them. This concerned me, because 5/6 people in our group had partners, except L, who he barely knew. So when I asked him who, he made me do a bunch of tasks to find out, which annoyed me because I didn’t really care THAT much, but he insisted I did them. When I found out it was L, I was extremely confused, and I mentioned how he spoken a handful of words to her. He said that it didn’t matter because he was in love with her and was going to tell her. I strongly advised him not to, because he was far from her type, she would reject him, and future hang outs would be awkward or people wouldn’t want to come. He told me that he would think about it and one of our other friends told him to play the waiting game, which I reminded them that L had just got rejected and it would probably be awhile (like. Years) before she was ready to date again. T told me that I was discouraging him, which has started to make me mad. I’m starting to think he only likes L for her looks and not actually for HER. I recently asked him after one of his rants about her if he even knew her middle name, which he replied with “no, but we played Minecraft last night! I’m advancing into friend level!”

That irked me bad. You should ALREADY be friends with someone you have a crush on. I’m thinking about dropping him as a friend because he has said some kinda racist remarks about how black actors can’t play stereotypically white characters because it’s either “not historically accurate” or “not the same as the original source material” and this whole situation isn’t helping me. I just wanna protect my friends.

recently (read: today) i finally found out how actual minecraft mods work and i gotta say. i see what the deal is. i’ve been saying what i play is modded mc for like years when what i meant was shaders and texture packs bc i literally didn’t know how to install real mods for the game and thought it was just hopeless to even try bc it was a nightmare looking did the right versions of everything. anyway cut to today after i figured out and got a bunch of item packs and qol improvements and lots of general stuff and i sunk 5 hours into a world without even really realizing how long it had been bc it was just fun without all the pulling teeth parts i’m used to

For real, it’s so awesome to see your process and the sheer amount of inspiration you take! In particular, I thought ‘Sit on Two Chairs’ and ‘This Was Our Pact’ were particularly yummy. 

I think book covers are really hard. You have to sum up a book’s energy in one image, make it stand out and show just enough so people want more. Exploring the narrative through those full pages is really interesting - though this is something you did for fun, it could be a really useful technique for getting to know a narrative. When I’m designing my comic covers, I always do it last - that way I’ve had practice with the visual style and I’m thoroughly familiar with the themes, so I guess spending a bit of time with the characters and narrative in this way helps for standalone book covers too. Of course, it helps if you have the time for that XD

Okay!! Onto what I've been up to!!! [warning this is a beefy post I'm sorry for your poor reading brain]

The past two weeks have been really enjoyable! I’ve been playing a lot with slow world-building, in sketchbooks, google documents, and voice notes to friends. Letting myself really sit with concepts, think about the characters, let them play in my head with no expectations. With this relaxation and lack of pressure, some beautiful narratives and interactions have been developing. I’m starting to need a name for a world/ the story. I’m not quite ready to give them a full introduction to the internet - I know it doesn’t but it feels like there’s some accountability to *produce something* and this slow development is really important for the quality and my skill building. It’s really hard to take on, but we actually don’t have to make the perfect thing now! In fact, it’s impossible. Pressure on ourselves makes it so hard to make something good if we’re always grasping at the final result.  In the meantime, while those characters develop, I have been working hard on my basic skills. I wrote about characterization last post, but this week I focused on setting and colour. I was inspired (once again) by Hermitcraft. I’ve seen some really incredible illustrations of Minecraft builds in the fandom, and it seems like a great exercise.

One of the creators on Hermitcraft, ImpulseSV, created this build in a recent episode. It takes inspiration from the last season of Hermitcraft, where he was part of the ‘soup group’ with two other players, and his current base concept - a cyberpunk city.  I also LOVE his new character design, so I wanted to place him in the scene.

Here are some initial thumbnails I did, trying to figure out the composition. I wasn’t sure of the vibe yet, so I tried some rough thumbnailing, and drawing on an isometric grid and other perspective techniques. I’m going a bit mad for characters at the mo, so I wanted to place some in the scene. I found the angle of the isometric grid steep to place characters comfortably, so decided against that.

Looking back at it, I love the second! But I believe I was struggling with the perspective. I decided on the last one eventually.

Now, I absolutely adore all of the players in the Soup Group, and I am BIG fan of redesigning their notable characteristics to suit different settings. So yes, I decided to put all of the soup group in the image.

Here's the sketch of the final image. I really enjoyed coming up with cyberpunk versions of them all. I used the impulse design almost exactly, with a few extra interesting details since he's mostly viewed from the back. For PearlescentMoon (middle) I kept her fringe, dark hair and gave her a glowing moon symbol on her top. For GeminiTay, I kept her long ginger hair, antlers (but glowing!) and took inspiration from her new season 10 design - a dark blue jumpsuit to match her dark blue clothes in her new design, and the braids she is often drawn with. I also gave them edgy new hairstyles. And a robot arm. I don't have lore for that.

As usual, I filled each flat colour-to-be with black and lowered the opacity to play with the values. Then I added colours one at a time, aware might be riso printing it. Originally I stuck to trying to make it printable (making the colours out of ones I could make my layering 2-3 colours at different opacities), but as I went on, I decided to drop that and focus on the quality of the image in a digital format alone. I did keep the grayscale version above with all the separate layers in case I needed that if/when I came to riso printing it. Below are the main two digital colour schemes I tried out.

I settled on the one on the left, with the blue tones - the foreground characters really pop. I put a few details in Gem's hair, colour variations etc, and cropped it for Instagram. I actually much prefer the cropped version - it sits better in a rule of thirds.

RISO!!!!!!!!!!!

I returned to Cardiff after a couple of months away and was delighted to spend my first day back at The Printhaus, an awesome shared print studio where I have basically made my home. A few of my awesome friends happened to be there, so I spent the day playing around with this image with their help! (please check them out they're very cool - Gavin helped me a lot (we hung out at Thought Bubble, remember? and Rhi gave good crits too!!)

For those who don't know, risograph is basically a shitty photocopier that can only print one colour at a time. However, you can play with gradients and opacities, and layer colours really nicely to combine. I've done a lot of single-colour tonal work with riso but this is my first go really layering.

First, Gavin showed me how to separate the channels in Photoshop, using the flat image uploaded to the 'gram. We copied and pasted these layers in grayscale and added blending modes to each layer to replicate what they might look like when printed.

This bit goes into technical details for replicating what the print might look like for those who might want it - feel free to skip :)))

I copied and pasted the Cyan, Black and Magenta layers as greyscale (as you can see above)

I made all of the greyscale layers multiply layers since risograph ink is transparent and we wanted to see how it layers. The ink usually comes out a bit lighter than you think, so it's good to bear that in mind. I used a clipping mask over each greyscale layer and a blending mode. WHEN YOU PRINT, PRINT IN GREYSCALE, NOT COLOUR.

Here's how I split the colours from CMYK to the riso colours, their hex codes and the blending mode I used to replicate the colours:

Cyan - Mint [HEX#82D8D5] Screen Magenta - Fluorescent Pink [HEX#FF48B0] Screen Black - Blue [HEX#0078BF] Overlay Yellow - scrapped for colour scheme purposes

Riso printed Mint and Florescent Pink layers on separate paper, followed by the two layered together.

We always start with the lighter colour inks first, because sometimes the rollers can pick up the ink and cause extra marks where you don't want them. The first two colours came out great!

The first time we printed the blue, it came out very dark (left, first image). I have had this issue before - my last book, Winter Wellbeing, came out much darker than I wanted. Now I realise that the blue ink is super sensitive. All the 'white space' that is covered by a low-opacity blue on the left is only 2%, and yet it has come out pretty strong. We tried printing it on one of the misaligned images just to see, but it took all of the brightness out of the neon soup sign at the top of the image (second image). So I changed the values and pushed them way lighter, so it just pushed the values of the darker bits slightly, and brightened some of the lineart (right, first image)

And this is the final riso printed version!! I'm so so happy with how this came out. It's so different from the original digital version, and I actually love that.

I didn't create new colours in the way that I intended to - I wanted to play with overlaying purposefully to create specific colours eg. orange for the hair etc. But!!! I'm really happy with how it came out. That will have to be a project for next time.

Also, many copies are slightly misaligned, so in future I think I'd do flat layers for the colours a more blobby style with the linework on one layer only so there's less of a chance for obvious misalignment. design for the riso, rather than riso the design.

Overall though, this feels like a super cool step up and a milestone for me. Super happy with how it came out!! And I'm excited to play with colour some more. Can't wait to see the rest of the Lionheart brothers! Enjoy your weekend :)))

Fabric Mods I Use For A Vanilla+ Experience

I don’t use many mods, but I do use a few mods and datapacks in order to improve some quality of life things, and add a few fun features. I’ve played with these mods for years (though some are more recent additions), and I’ve absolutely loved it and now I can’t play without them. Let’s go through them.

Xaero’s Minimap and World Map

This is a pretty simple mod! It adds a customisble minimap and world map, with built in waypoint system for easy navigation and teleportation. The menus can be a little daunting, but once you get it set up you never need to look at them again! I love being able to keep track of how far my miscellaneous adventures take me, especially since I play on a large biomes world.

Optifine & Optifabric

A well known essential, optifine improves graphical processing for Minecraft and adds support for other mods visual features. It also gives me a zoom button, which I once tried to press in real life while trying to look at something far away. Thanks optifine.

I also use optifabric, which is just a compatibility mod to make optifine run with the fabric installation.

Dye Depot

Probably my biggest departure from vanilla, dye depot adds 16 new dyes and accompanying coloured blocks to help fill in a couple of those transitionary colour gaps. As a builder, I cannot stress how much this has inspired creativity and given life to old builds. I mainly play on my project world, where I’m building a big island covered in different themed builds and after spending over a year on it, some of the older builds started to disappoint me a little. Not anymore! All these beautiful new blocks add much desired vibrancy!

Fish of Thieves

Now I actually added this mod to my build project server for my partner, who wanted to see more life in the oceans with different kinds of fish other than just cod and salmon and the occasional tropical fish. However, there is one feature this mod adds that we have been absolutely obsessed with: fish mounts. Now that might sound really weird until you look at the fish mounts and realise they are just better, more decorated signs. I use signs so much in building and rarely do I need to write on them so the fish mounts’ variations are such a delight.

Just look at them.

Amendments

Amendments is a recent addition to my server but I’ve already used so many of its excellent features. From stacking skulls, to hanging signs off fence posts and lanterns on walls, to carpeted stairs and slabs, amendments has had excellent compatibility with my other mods and added some features I never knew I needed so badly.

Infinite Trading

Infinite trading does exactly what you think it does. I abuse this regularly,

Vanilla Tweaks

Technically not a mod but a datapack! Vanilla tweaks is very well known and incredibly customisable through their website. Personally I love extra mob heads, mini blocks, cauldron concrete, fast leaf decay, multiplayer sleep, armour statues and extra shulker shells. I use a lot of these features very regularly and if you don’t want to or can’t mod your Minecraft game, please consider trying out some Vanilla Tweaks datapacks.

The Painting

Where the reader is an artist and makes an emotional piece of Michael after one of the many times they saw his wings, this is pretty cheesy and a tad sickeningly sweet, ENJOY!!

Y/n was in their art studio that was kept in the basement of their shared home, they were making a painting of their handsome lover, Michael, and made him the centerpiece after seeing his wings recently. They were sitting on the idea for it for a while feeling nervous about it but they finally decided to work on and perfect the piece. As Y/n was working on it for the first hour they pondered on what Michael would think about it, they hoped they would have it finished in time for their anniversary the next day, and give it to him as a gift, Y/n loved making things for the people they cared about. Their favorite music playing in the background as they started to paint out the form of Michael, saving room for his outstretched wings, deemed ‘flawed’ and ‘imperfect’ by Michael but Y/n saw him as beautiful and wanted to capture the beauty they saw in their lover in their work, the basic detailing of Michael’s body was done, Y/n moved on to basic detail and patterning of his wings, making sure to capture every single detail he memorized by heart.

As they continued the painting they kept to using varying shades of grey but adding pops of color, shades of blue and matching colors that made them think of Michael, as they added more and more detail to their soon-to-be masterpiece, Y/n took a second to glance at the time, a few hours had passed from when they started, Y/n glanced at the painting, feeling happy with the progress, it still lacked a lot more detail, darkened shadows and whisps of light, but nonetheless, it looked amazing. With that in mind, Y/n felt like it was time for a much-needed break, the paint on their palette was almost gone so it was the perfect stopping point. Putting the used materials aside, Y/n grabbed a tarp to cover the painting with, making sure it didn’t touch the still-wet paint before it got dry enough, grabbing the used brushes, water cup, and palette, Y/n brought them upstairs to clean off before deeming one-hundred percent finished for the day. Once they reached the kitchen and cleaned off the utensils he left those to dry in the empty dish rack, heading to the living room after and spotting Michael on the couch, mindlessly scrolling through his phone, Y/n smiled and moved to sit next to him, leaning into Michael’s left side, Michael wordlessly moved his arm to wrap it around Y/n and pull them closer, leaning his head on top of Y/n. Y/n sighed deeply, needing this affection after being so busy for the past few hours, Michael soon began to speak no too long after. “You must be working hard on that painting huh? you look exhausted.” Y/n snickered at Michael’s observation, it was true they were working really hard on it, putting their love and adoration for Michael into that piece, hoping with every fiber of their being that he would love it. “Yeah, It’s something I’ve been wanting to work on for a while, I just needed the right… inspiration.” Y/n replied, still leaning comfortably into Michael’s side, “Well I can’t wait to see it when it’s done.” Michael said, looking down at Y/n as he smiled, Y/n looked up at Michael and smiled back, Michael leaned in and gave Y/n a quick peck on the lips.

Y/n and Michael enjoyed the rest of the day in each other's company, whether it was watching shows or movies, to playing some games together, Y/n had a laugh teaching Michael to play videogames like Minecraft or animal crossing and is proud to say that they did a good job at teaching him how to play. After they were done playing games and hanging out the couple crawled into bed together and drifted off to sleep, well, at least Y/n did, Michael couldn’t sleep, he wanted to see what Y/n had been working on that he didn’t want him to see yet, he didn’t want to snoop and ruin the surprise, he knew it was something for him, and for their anniversary, he wouldn’t forget something like that, so he kept trying all night to fall asleep but just couldn’t. By the time it was morning, Michael hadn’t gotten an ounce of sleep.

When Y/n woke, Michael was asleep, normally he was awake first but he must have been exhausted so Y/n let him sleep in, deciding to get up and continue work on the painting. Crawling out of the shared bed to head to the kitchen and grab the supplies they cleaned off the day before, heading downstairs and into the basement they unveiled the half-finished painting and began the routine they took before they started painting, playing their music a lot quieter this time so as not to wake Michael, and continued their work. Looking at the painting, Y/n pictured more of what they wanted to add, the painting was a view of Michael’s back, his head slightly turned to the left, facing his undamaged wing, both wings spread wide, the canvas was rather large, Y/n continued to add more details to the wings, deeming Michael’s body and head well detailed already, maybe a few more details in the hair but that’s it. They did their best to make his wings look as treasured as they should be, deciding to add some beautiful shades of gold in the highlighted areas of feathers, mixing beautifully into the detail of the dark feathers, adding some of that gold into his hair as well, Y/n thought that the piece was missing something more. Y/n took a piece of paper off of their desk and crumpled it up, using it on a test piece of canvas so as not to ruin what they were doing, they decided they didn't like that and tested a more splatter effect on the spare canvas, they liked that more and globbed a mix of dark blue and black onto a big brush and splattered that onto the canvas edges, the blue and black blended nicely and really finished the piece. Y/n deemed the painting done and added his signature and the date onto the back, along with a little message for Michael, “Your flaws are what make you perfect to me.” Y/n read it over and thought it sounded cheesy, but the words were true, Michael was perfect to Y/n. Y/n covered it up, and it was perfect timing too, it was the day of their anniversary, the door to the basement had opened and Michael started to descend the stairs, Y/n already covered up the painting, and turned off their music, “Y/n, come on upstairs and eat some breakfast.” Michael said when he reached the bottom of the stairs, Y/n ran up to Michael and gave him a good-morning kiss, even though it was almost noon, and followed him up the stairs and into the kitchen, “So how's your little project coming along?” Michael asked as he handed Y/n some breakfast, Y/n gladly took it and sat down in their seat, “I finished it not too long ago,” Y/n responded, taking a few bites of their food, Michael doing the same, they ate in silence, happily enjoying the silent company, the window above the sink was open and you could hear the sound of birds chirping and the wind rustling the leaves, it was rare when they would just sit and eat without talking to each other the whole time. Finsihing their food they did the dishes together and got ready for another comfy day in their home. It wasn’t too long after they were ready for their days that Y/n bolted into the basement and grabbed the painting, wrapped in the cloth that was hiding it from view, and brought it upstairs to finally show Michael their hard work.

Once they had ascended the stairs they immediately found Michael sitting on the couch in the living room, he was looking for something to watch on the tv, as some random show or movie played in the background as he searched. Y/n walked up to Michael from behind the couch and rested their chin on top of his head, the painting behind their back at this point. “Heyyyyyyy,” Y/n said, Michael smiled and stopped his searching, and placed the remote down next to him, moving his head to look at Y/n, who had a huge smile on their face. Y/n removed the covered painting from behind their back and handed it to Michael, waiting for him to take it from their hands, as Michael took the painting he began to uncover it and revealed his lovers' handiwork. Once Michael fully removed the paintings cover he was shocked by what he saw on the canvas, he didn’t know what he was expecting, but it wasn’t this, his heart was swelling, even though Michael had a bad self-image due to his injury, he was happy that his lover thought he looked amazing enough to paint in that light, Michael went to put it down when Y/n said, “turn it around!” Michael did just that and was surprised by the cute little comment on the back, “That's so cheesy,” Michael chuckled, Y/n laughed a bit too, “I know, but hey, it’s true.” Michael set down the painting and pulled Y/n in for a kiss.

So. After playing Arceus:Legends for a few hours, I think I can see why so many people were disappointed by Scarlet/Violet after playing it. I actually had someone stop talking to me once after talking to me for a short while, because I liked it lol.

(It was an acquaintance I saw in chats the first time talking to them in DMs after they messaged me, wasn’t attached so I wasn’t bothered. They were super into like BOTW and were younger, only recently getting into Pokémon games and just playing the past 2-3 gen’s. So I can see how they were disappointed in it. Also btw I didn’t play BOTW, but I don’t care for Zelda games - sorry. I’ve tried.)

Legends is original, fun, new and similar to BOTW (from what I’ve seen in videos/heard from friends) or Minecraft sort of stuff - not something I knew I wanted from Pokémon. Crafting (I DISLIKE CRAFTING this is probably why I don’t like BOTW/Minecraft/etc) wild Pokémon after your ass, so on and so forth. ScVi is a mostly polished (bugs tho. I think a lot of the problems ScVi had were by it being gimped by the Switch’s hardware - Legends has simpler graphics, I think BOTW may have had a similar style) but average Pokémon game. If you like Pokémon, you’ll probably enjoy it. I like that it made training pokemon to battle competitively more accessible - it wasn’t something I realized I liked doing bc I don’t like competition against regular people. (Tera raaaaids!!) But if you expect a LOT out of your games - no.

Could they have done more with it to optimize? Probably. But for what it’s worth, my biggest complaint is how much it lags - I don’t really encounter bugs.

This has been a completely nonsensical rant by someone who is bad at this sort of thing. :3

And if you want to know, the sort of games I enjoy and play the most of are: (if there are multiple games in the “series”, I’ve played/enjoyed them all) Main Pokémon Games, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Paper Mario, Mario Kart/Party/Maker, Luigi’s Mansion, Yoshi’s Wooly World, The Binding of Isaac and Diablo. Honorable shout out to Star Craft, I haven’t played it in years but loved it growing up.

Top: Pokémon X and Y, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (they all blur together lol sorry), Diablo 3, Paper Mario: TTYD. I think Violet is up there as well, I just can’t stop playing it….. I’m addicted to shinies and training for Tera Raids.

If you like Stardew Valley there is also Sun Haven which is similar I play that one occasionally. Inscryption is good (card game with a storyline that gets very meta)

Also going to recommend Hades just because I’m hyperfixated on it right now and it’s got brilliant character designs and story and the art is amazing. It’s a roguelike and kind of difficult according to most? But there’s god mode which fixes that if you want to focus on the story and characters and stuff. I love Megaera.

Raft is fun to play solo and with friends and it’s not too difficult and pretty expansive and they recently (semi-recently) completed the story part for the full release which is cool

Detroit Become Human also good. Did my first playthrough in one day with a 14 hour play session but there are so many different endings

I don’t play with any mods but it looks so fun, I play on bedrock on my phone, so there aren’t a ton of mods I can get but if I ever switch to a pc there are a ton of like food/farming mods that I’d want to try

the only thing I know about baldurs gate is astarion and the hot red lady (karlac?) but everyone I’ve talked to about it has said it’s really good and it looks fun to play! !!

DreamSMP

Well, the dsmp has gone to shit for many reasons.

But if you do get into dsmp, blueberrytv on youtube is your best friend, they cut streams down to more digestible episodes so you can follow the story along. Yes it's long. Dear god it's long. Also @relaxxattack has a carrd that updated until fairly recently, i also recommended it many times.

The story was (i never thought i'd have to speak in past tense about it, the fucker seemed to drag through for decades in just 2 years) told through livestreams, quite a few of are lost forever because twitch deletes vods after 2 weeks and no one bothered to back them up. Also ignore everything after the disc war finale except quackity (and tales of the smp)

You can test the waters by watching Wilbur's L'manburg war video to see if you like the vibes. I usually recommend this, though it's not the earliest point in the story. (that would be tommy's disc war, which is also VERY important, but people tend to find him annoying at first, esp. 2020 tommy like jesus christ he was a different beast. Definietly watch it after the L'manburg independence, things will click.)

Sad-ist's animatics are classics that helped shape the story as it was being written. Watch them as you progress through.

Hermitcraft + Adjacent*

*as far as fandom/content creator overlap goes

1. Hermitcraft is more gameplay heavy. If you don't enjoy minecraft you're not gonna like it, but it's pretty straight forward. You find a youtuber and follow their series on youtube. People usually recommend Grian, GoodTimesWithScar, and Mumbo for beginners, (they are the most popular ones) and then you can branch out from there. Hermitcraft recap is a godsent if you want to know what's going on everywhere.

I personally loved season 8, it's also the shortest and the most lore-heavy. Really gives you a taste of what the series is like at its best.

2. The life series! (Third life, Last Life, Double life, Limited Life) again, find any participant want, then branch out if you want to. Lore is easy to find here, people were under pressure to make up stuff quickly because the series is short, and the result is funny, creative, and so so tragic.

3. People watch EvoSMP for grian, pearl and martyn lore but it really doesn't matter to anything that's going on right now. It's a good series, but Watcher (basically evil angel Grian) headcanons are far detached from it nowdays despite originating from it.

4. Yandere highschool! Do not watch Yandere highschool. No detail is worth it. Use adblock if you force yourself through it, no money for the creator he's an asshat and the other members apparently no longer talk to him.

QSMP

Since the last post, Quackity started the QSMP, in which spanish and english speaking youtubers play on the same server. It has roleplay but it's looser and less grimdark than the dsmp thankfully. They are on an island and they adopted little eggs that walk around and act all cute. It's streamed on twitch. Pick a person and look up their vods, if you're interested. Slimecicle is recommended to start with, and some spanish creators use english subtitles/translation mods. There aren't comprehensive sources to find every vod/video yet, since the server isn't that old.

Hello!! I’m not sure if I am an mder, but I have been researching it and it seems to be me. I daydream a lot, often during school/class, and have always been called a daydreamer by my family and teachers. It hinders my class work as I don’t listen because of it and once I’m aware and pull myself (begrudgingly) out of it, I have to ask my friends for help. It annoys me when I get pulled out of my daydreams. I have reoccurring worlds and characters. I can name two off the top of my head that were recent that went on for a while. It was only in one ever that I was myself, as I am usually a character from my special interest in these daydreams (or at least seeing the world through their eyes and brain). But, I don’t pace or mumble to myself, though I don’t know if this is also because I’m semi verbal and always am during class, and I don’t pace because I have a lot of pain in my legs most days (and at home I usually play minecraft mindlessly and listen to music while daydreaming). Not all my daydreams are reoccurring, most of the time just random stuff, though there are a few that come back very frequently. I don’t want to get better, even though it makes me struggle with school and can make me unproductive (I’d rather daydream about my fic than write it, I’d rather daydream about the characters i love than have a shower, brush my teeth, etc.) because it makes me happier. Since I’ve been researching more and been more aware of it, I’ve been having a real struggle daydreaming. Whenever I try it feels lifeless and I can’t get stuck in it. I find it hard to daydream during the day because I’m constantly surrounding myself with stimuli like videos, games and podcasts. I don’t have class time to daydream since it is school holidays where I am. It’s been making me feel less and less happy. I’m going to try to just sit and listen to music tomorrow, and hopefully daydream because it’s been making me feel restless. But yeah, I saw that other people ask you questions and thought that this would be the best spot to ask for help for, since I’m having trouble figuring out if this is me or not.
