AND! Tim/Not Kon! Carefully navigating a relationship with someone you created to replace your dead best friend, but fell in love with as themself!
“I think you made me kind of a slut, man,” Hunter muses, which would probably not have made Tim choke quite so hard if Hunter hadn’t been speculatively dragging his eyes up his body while he said it.
The part where the other’s draped over the nearest weight bench in this Titans Tower training room and wearing literally nothing but running shorts and sneakers isn’t helping either.
Also Hunter definitely needs a haircut because his hair grew down past his shoulders in development and he didn’t want to cut it after, but Tim is just not emotionally capable of dealing with the barely-restrained curly ponytails and half-ponytails and man-buns he’s been wearing. Just–not even slightly, no. Not even a little bit.
“You are literally a virgin,” Tim says inanely, trying very hard not to drop either his bo or his literal entire brain on the mats. I–what? What?”
Hunter shrugs; rolls onto his back on top of the bench. It leaves him bent backwards over it, back arched and head upside-down as he skims a hand up his bare stomach. Hunter is, somehow, even more tactile and hedonistic than Kon ever was, which Tim is very suddenly being reminded of.
He debates the merits of panicking. Or maybe, like, running for his life.
“I said, I think you made me kind of a slut, man,” Hunter repeats, like that’s the part that Tim was trying not to drop his brain over. “Like, either libido-wise or uploads-wise, I dunno.”
“Wh–I didn’t put anything like–I didn’t–” Tim half-sputters, and the crushing depression that’s taken over most of his life since everyone died on him and Bruce disappeared and Dick gave Robin to Damian is possibly actually just too baffled to be crushing him right now. Hunter gives him a lazy, half-lidded look, tipping his head back a little farther on his neck. His throat is . . . his throat is very, very exposed. And thick. And long and strong and stubbled and–
Nrgnk, Tim thinks, very faintly.
He did not ever look at Kon’s throat and think things like that.
He is definitely, definitely thinking those things about Hunter’s, though.
“Oh my god, you fuckin’ sad-ass wet canary, I don’t mean I think you did it on purpose,” Hunter snorts in exasperation, rolling his eyes like Tim’s an idiot or something. Tim is not an idiot. Tim is actually, like, reasonably intelligent and–he made Hunter. That required being pretty damn smart, actually! Really damn smart, actually!
. . . and also unfathomably, unfathomably stupid, admittedly.
“Then what do you mean?” he asks warily, because Hunter is about a month and a half “old”, except also more like nineteen, and has already decided that he does not give a single telekinetically-flying fuck about things like social graces or social filters and it’s frankly a miracle that nobody’s killed him for that yet. Or, uh. Tim. Or killed Tim for that.
Cassie definitely thought about it, he knows.
Seriously, though, just–as bad as Kon ever was about anything, Hunter has definitely actively decided to be worse. Which is admittedly a very “Kon” kind of decision to make, except also just . . . absolutely nothing like Kon, at the same time. Hunter literally does not even care that Superman exists, for one thing, and has about as much interest in wearing the “S” as Lex Luthor does, but also does not care Luthor exists either. Like–impressively does not care about either of their existences, in fact.
Tim might have, uh, overcompensated a little while trying to make sure the “Kon” he was making wouldn’t have as many issues about his gene donors as the real one had, but also Hunter might just be that goddamn contrary. It’s unclear, at this point.
“Oh, like I keep thinking about fucking climbing somebody,” Hunter says. “Like, literally? I’m pretty sure I could do it literally. You know, could float a bit if I had to, whatever.”
“I mean, you’re very, uh–tactile,” Tim attempts awkwardly, really not knowing how to approach this conversation. “And still only have about five minutes of experience with actual human contact, but also teenage hormones? So wanting to, uh–be tactile with a lot of people isn’t necessarily, you know . . . uh.”
“I meant I wanna climb somebody specific, Wet Canary,” Hunter corrects dryly, rolling his eyes again. “Not like, literally everyone I know. Well–okay, also Starfire and Nightwing. But like, Starfire and Nightwing, so can you blame me?”
“I plead the fifth,” Tim says, since that is his sort-of-brother and his sort-of-brother’s situationship that Hunter is talking about right now and he just . . . he just needs the plausible deniability there at least, okay? And also does not have the time to have a sexuality crisis right now either. Like, that’s just not going to fit in his schedule, despite all Hunter’s–Hunter-ness being a thing.
“Maybe also Red Hood,” Hunter muses speculatively, drumming his fingers on his stomach. Tim . . . does not know how he feels about that. At all. Either the fact that Hunter is talking like he’s actually attracted to guys, or the fact that one of the guys he apparently finds attractive is Jason.
“You know he literally beat me half to death once, right?” he reminds him. Hunter smirks at him.
“Yeah, and I bet he looked hot as fuck doing it,” he says.
“. . . . . . I plead the fifth,” Tim mutters. Hunter drops his head back even further on his neck and cackles. Tim does not think anything about his throat. Like–definitely he does not.
“Also I would definitely sit in your Bat-daddy’s lap, if you guys ever figure out if he’s dead or not,” Hunter decides, nodding to himself as he says it.
Tim falls off the mats. Or like–the floor, maybe? Like–that’s just what happens, yeah. Hunter laughs at him again.
“I hate you,” Tim mutters extremely feelingly, attempting to just . . . just attempting, maybe. Literally he does not even know what he’s “attempting”, except maybe to not to have a heart attack at eighteen and a half.
“Aw, too bad, ‘cuz you literally made me so therefore you did this to yourself,” Hunter replies with a broad grin. Tim definitely hates him. “Maybe you should work on all that self-punishing shit, man, you coulda made a way nicer guy than me.”
“I was trying to make Kon, that really would not have happened,” Tim retorts dryly, and then wonders when exactly his dark humor got this dark. Well–logically, it would’ve been somewhere around all the dead people and all, he guesses, but still.
“Really, because literally no one has described that dude to me as anything but, like, a socially-awkward marshmallow who was just constantly fronting whatever overbearing ‘please like me’ behavior he thought would work,” Hunter says, giving him a wry look. “Literally. Literally no one. I think the dog thinks he was a marshmallow, in fact.”
“Right, and you’re so hardcore and edgy over there,” Tim says, eyeing him briefly.
“I mean I’m capable of, like, things like saying ‘no’ to people who aren’t active supervillains actively trying to murder somebody not me,” Hunter replies reasonably. “So I’d like to think I’m at least, like, nougat or something. Maybe a caramel.”
“You are not even Nutella, Hunter,” Tim says, and Hunter laughs again and then rolls back over and shifts up to straddle the weight bench, his thighs very . . . thighs about it. Tim tries not to be a weird little freak about said thighs, but in no way is he not a weird little freak about said thighs.
Jesus, why are they so thighs.
Hunter leans forward, bracing his hands on the end of the weight bench. Tim pretends to be oblivious to the existence of the other’s pecs and that big broad grin he’s back to wearing. It’s not like he’s not used to seeing totally different people wearing that face, between Kon and Match and literal Superman, and also like . . . Superboy Prime, fuck that guy forever, but Hunter still manages to look just a little bit more different than that, somehow.
Tim literally does not even understand his own brain sometimes. Or at all, maybe.
“I just keep thinking about doing the climbing, is all,” Hunter says. Tim forces his incomprehensible excuse for a brain back on track. “Like, the specific climbing of a specific somebody, mostly, but still a lot of climbing in general. And also how to convince said somebody to teach me how to have sex, like, in a way that is not the high school-level sex ed course somebody uploaded into my brain. Though like, that’s also a thing I keep thinking about.”
“That doesn’t sound like you’re a slut, that sounds like you have a crush on someone,” Tim says, a little perplexed. “Or, uh, a psychosexual obsession with. But let’s hope for ‘crush’.”
“Oh,” Hunter says, looking pretty perplexed himself. “Huh.”
“The part where you’re perving on Nightwing, Red Hood, and Batman might be a little much, though,” Tim says dryly, mostly to move the conversation along before Hunter says anything that–
“Well, yeah,” Hunter replies with a shrug, leaning forward a little heavier on his hands. “”Cuz they’ve all got that same Bat-vibe somebody’s got.”
“. . . what,” Tim says.
“I really did not think I was being subtle here, dude,” Hunter says, raising an eyebrow at him. “Like, at any point.”
“I literally made you,” Tim says, staring at him in disbelief.
“Yeah, do you wanna maybe try some daddy kink and see how that goes?” Hunter asks, cocking his head with a thoughtful expression. “I feel like maybe we could do something with that.”
“Asdfghjk,” Tim says, and falls off the floor again.
“Like, no pressure, just asking,” Hunter says with another shrug.
Okay, Tim thinks. Maybe Hunter’s right, and he did kind of make him kind of a slut, one way or the other. Like–maybe. Possibly.
And maybe Hunter is also right about him having done this to himself, considering.
#tim drake#dc robin#kiragecko#this one did not turn out particularly kinky unless you think like the myth of pygmalion is kinky#. . . which uh to be fair it kinda is#so!!#subtextually kinky maybe!#also in case tumblr tries to hide it: yes there is a cut in this post

Pizza guy!Nikto - Chapter 1
(ok... This is going to be like, maybe one of the most weirdly specific fanfics you've ever read. For context: I work at a pizza place IRL. Thats it. Thats the only context. I was at work and. Thought about Nikto working there too. That's all you need to know. Enjoy :]!!!
This is going to be a Nikto x GN!customer!reader, but reader is NOT introduced in this chapter.
Cw/tws: mentions of violence- including towards an animal! I think thats all? Enjoy :)!!
NOTE: all text in red & italics are Nikto's voices
Nikto was bored.
Retirement was miserable, and Nikto found himself restless day in, and day out. Unable to find peace while wasting away at home. Sure, he had lot's of retirement money, but he had this urge to work, to kill. He would give anything to be on a plane to another mission right about now, but he was too 'broken'. That's what they basically told him. Too mentally unwell to keep working. A hazard to his own team.
Heh.
What the fuck do they know? They don't know what goes on in his head. So what he broke that recruit's arm? They touched him when he warned them of the consequences. Or who cares that he hit one of his higher-up's service dogs with the buggy? It should've been servicing it's owner, not under the damn vehicle! He's not a danger, the other voices are!
Speaking of voices, they aren't reacting well either, metaphorically biting away at Nikto's psyche each day he did fucking nothing. He felt useless, and they reminded him of that. You idiot, you deserve your suffering for being the way you are. Broken. Broken little solider.
He still gets calls from his mates in the service, especially Krueger, who always makes sure to call as often as possible to keep the man updated on missions, even if they didn't concern him anymore. He suggested that Nikto pick up a part-time job, not for the money, but the work. God (and Krueger) only knows what Nikto's mind gets upto when left to its own devices.
Nikto scoffed at first, he didn't like the idea of working at some measley fast food job, he was above that. He crawled through the fucking trenches and ripped out the throats of women and men, and would be reduced to... What? Cleaning a fucking stove? Heating up processed foods for weak civilians? No. He wouldn't. The voices mocked him, this is what we've been reduced to? Patheic.
And then the rot set in.
Krueger had been very insistant on a visit the second he had time away from work, flying out to see Nikto even as the man ignored his texts and calls. He wasn't dead, Krueger knew that, but he also wasn't in a good place. He couldn't let his companion live like this pathetic slob. Cause that's exactly what he was becoming.
Water and alcohol bottles littered the floor, stacks on stacks of old, half eaten take-out. Junk that should’ve been tossed long ago created walled barriers throughout the house. It was a scene out of horders, and the smell was awful. Christ. Krueger was no clean freak, but this? He'd rather sleep next to corpses than this cesspool of rotting filfth, and in the middle of it all, sat his balaclava-ed, smelly friend on the sofa. Krueger grimmaced, taking careful steps. He nearly stepped on poor Sputnik, who had become content with spending her days lazying about, peeing in places without Nikto's knowledge, and eating off his leftover scraps of food, growing just as lethargic as her owner.
"Nikto... Scheiße..” he would almost be outraged at the man’s carelessness if he didn’t understand how the other functioned, without a job, without a purpose, Nikto was truly a nobody. He lifted the man’s head with a gentleness, an action only someone like Krueger could get away with, looking into those glazed-over icy blues.
“This is… this is bad Nikto..” he mutters, eyes filled with..love? Concern? Something Nikto wasn’t used to often. Nikto finally shows evidence of life as his eyes flicker up in wordless understanding. Krueger continues,
"I can't stand to see you like this. You can't stand being like this. I'm going to help you."
Krueger lifts his friend up, albiet with mild arguing and growling from the disguntled bear of a man that Nikto is. He sets Nikto's cheap laptop on his lap and types in job sites, which already has Nikto tense.
"Krueger- чёрт побери! you're acting like my fucking mother-"
"good, about time someone comes in and wipes your ass, if not yourself." Krueger grumbles, scrolling through the job offers, "what's your SNILS...?"
After a painstaking back and forth, and Krueger prying for all of Nikto's personal info, he sent in a few applications on his friend's behalf. Patting the other on the back as Nikto's thumbs rubbed at his temples, fighting back the urge to pulverize his only real friend. You really should, he's a nuisance...
"this is... Not ideal.." Nikto finally grumbles, finishing the last of some lukewarm whisky from the bottle.
"none of this is, meine freund, but this...Is worse." Noone has ever seen them like this, so...domestic. In reality, this was as hard for Krueger as it was for Nikto, The Alligence wasn't the same without the Russian, fighting wasn't the same. Krueger rested a hand on his shoulder.
"everything is going to change, can you try to change a little with it?"
Change? Krueger wanted him to change? Was that even possible? He'd been so set in his ways ever since the incident. But the look in Krueger eyes let Nikto know that there wasn't really a choice.
What are you kidding? You could change as far as you could throw a boulder! Never!
He sighed, deeply. His shoulders slumping miserably as he exhaled.
"fine. But If we don't like the job-"
"ja, ja, you don't have to stay. I get it. I can't make you." He interupted, waving his hand dismissively, "but don't just give up right away. Can you promise me that?"
Nikto hated making promises, he hated feeling like he owed anyone anything, he didn't take on debts or deals. Go ahead, make more promises you can't keep. We know the truth.
Yet here he was, being interviewed by an elderly couple, who pitied him for his past as a solider.
"me and Martha are going to see how you fair in the kitchen, and if that's turns out to be too overwhelming we can move you to a more simple job like delivery. Just bring the customers their pizzas." The eldery man said with an acknowledging smile.
He nodded to the man, Michael, reaching across the table to shake his hand, thanking him begrudgingly for this... 'Opportunity'. Thats damn well what it was, but Nikto didn't quite see it that way yet. As he left with a work shirt displaying the place's name and logo, he felt his heart drop. And a shrill, annoying voice invading his mind.
You are truely a fucking Развалюха. Good luck ever trying to live a normal life!
And now Nikto was worried.

A/N: An entry for my super neglected but not forgotten Afterglow series.
Chevalier x Reader
WC: 500
The starlight behind your eyelids begins to fade. Breathing in deeply, you feel the way your wild pulse slows, the red frenzy of passion dissolving into the blushing pink of contentment. You become aware of the soft pillow behind your head, the weight of the blankets that he is now carefully pulling over your naked body to keep the chill away. The back of his knuckles brush your hips and you marvel at how just a few heartbeats ago, those strong hands were holding you there, gripping you like a lifeline.
The only light in the room is the soft silver glow of the full moon. Not enough for him to be sure by sight alone. He reaches for you, pulls you close against him, the motion almost awkward in its haste. His hand slowly begins wandering the lines of your body, making sure not to disturb the blankets. It takes you a moment to understand what he is doing. His touch is cool and calculated, a sharp contrast to the sparkling paths of heat his fingers had not long ago been blazing across your skin.
“I’m fine,” you finally say, your hand resting on his chest, your head tilted upward to look at him in the pale moonlight. “Really.” Your voice is gentle but assured. He did not hurt you in his eagerness or the ferocity of his need.
You’re not a fragile blossom easily torn apart by a storm. You can stand in the hurricane of his desire and meet it, head on. With a smile.
Chevalier’s hand stops on your lower back and remains there, his palm pressed against your skin. There is something shockingly intimate about being touched just there. And something so casually possessive in the gesture as well. Another hand may touch you here above your clothing, perhaps while dancing, perhaps while helping you navigate your way. But no other hand but his will ever touch here beneath it.
“Sleep.” His voice is low and quiet. The word may be a command but when he speaks to you, it feels round, soft, gentle. A tone that you and only you can bring out of him, a certain warmth that creeps into his language. A warmth born of the steady fire that you have kindled in his heart, twin flames of his affection and love for you and all that you are to him.
You sigh, a sound that reminds him of the flutter of a nightingale’s wings, and then lay your head against his strong shoulder. His scent surrounds you, crisp and comforting all at once.
This is peace. This is home. This is all you will ever need.
It’s only when you’re standing on the ocean’s edge of slumber, about to plunge under the waves of dreaming that you feel him shift. A moment later, your forehead is anointed with a kiss, off-center and quick, but a kiss all the same.
He is at peace. He is home. You are all he will ever need.
When sleep pulls you under, you’re smiling.

What's in a name (Dandadan)
Title: What's in a name?
Notes: People wanted more, so here you go, have more! I'm glad people liked the previous chapter. This one takes Okarun's POV and runs with it. I hope the distinction of thought process makes it through in a coherent manner when he's transformed and you know, not. I'm happy to add more to it, as mentioned - I just need scene ideas to put into chapters. There's no end here, it's just a collection of one shots at this point. If an idea sparks and I wish to explore it, I will gladly add to it. Thanks again guys, feel free to leave ideas if you wish!
Pairing: Momo/Okarun romantic undertones, this is pure fluff
Rating: G (there is one instance of the word Fuck, but... )
Summary: This wasn't to say he didn't appreciate the nickname she had given him, because he did. It was without a doubt, the first thing genuinely given to him by another person, and he treasured it dearly; it had meaning, power behind it, and whenever anyone called him by it now, it reminded him instantly of her.
Ao3 link: Here
Can also be read under the read more here.
Ken hadn't really given his name much thought before. It was just... a thing, a word imposed on him, and it had never held that much importance. That was, until he'd stumbled across someone that, for whatever reason, hadn't wanted to say it. It had bothered him at the time, and even now, something about her not calling him by it rankled in the back of his mind, somewhere deep, deep down, where he threw all thoughts and emotions he didn't want to inspect too closely.
This wasn't to say he didn't appreciate the nickname she had given him, because he did. It was without a doubt, the first thing genuinely given to him by another person, and he treasured it dearly; it had meaning, power behind it, and whenever anyone called him by it now, it reminded him instantly of her. Not that he needed it to be reminded of her though. Momo Ayase was never far from the forefront of his mind now a days, and he often found himself thinking stray thoughts that had never occurred to him before came along and catapulted herself into his life.
Thoughts like, oh, she'd like this, or oh, she'd absolutely despise this other thing. More than once, he'd found himself squirreling away a shiny rock he'd found that reminded him of her earrings, a small piece of candy with an alien themed wrapper, or even entire magazines on the single notion that she'd like them, and he should thus, of course, present them to her. Never once had he actually gone through it; not once had he actually scrunched up the courage to actually give her the thing he'd secreted away for her, much too self conscious to do so when the notion actually caught up with him. He liked to think it was the intention that matter, and that he just needed a push, and maybe some day soon he'd manage.
Despite what some people thought, Ken was not an idiot; far from it, in his personal opinion. It'd taken him his first journey into her room, back when they were still trying to figure out what to do about Turbo Granny that first day, to realize exactly why she hadn't been able to say his name out loud, and he hadn't taken it out on her. Despite being slightly naive about many things, he wasn't exactly slow, and what he lacked in wisdom, he made up for in other ways. He was, perhaps, not as sharp as Ayase herself in the heat of the moment, but he was no slouch.
Still he'd decided to make no comment on the elephant in the room at the time. He'd not brought it up, and had kept his mouth shut. In a way, he'd come to adopt the nickname like it was his first name, and he'd just felt grateful for it. Even so... it still poked at a small, insecure part of him, deep, deep down in his soul, that she wouldn't say it, even when he didn't want to admit to it out loud.
It was perhaps, some small part of those feelings that slipped through when he was transformed. He couldn't really say.
She'd asked him several times what if felt like when he transformed, and he couldn't quite put it into words correctly. Did he go anywhere? Was it still him in there, fully? Did something else take over? And... no, nothing took over. It was just him, but, maybe... more. It was like his feelings were enhanced, not just his senses, but his actual emotions (and God, what did that say about him, that depression was the one in the wheel house? He didn't really want to poke that thought too much, given what it said about him). He'd noticed he was prone to be much more honest with his feelings and surroundings in that form, like there was no filter between brain and his mouth, and what he felt, he just blurted out.
Emotion fueled that form, at the end of the day.
The first few times he'd slipped into that form unbidden, it had been rage fueling it. Rage unlike anything he'd felt before that had sparked change into existence. He'd never been a particularly angry or argumentative kid; he'd never really fought back against bullies. Has never really tried to, never thought it was worth it to do so. Ken figured it had to be something about Ayase that brought it out of him, because he distinctly recalled clapping back at her several times that day, in a way he'd never thought of doing to his bullies. She'd just been worth it, from the very start.
She'd asked him why he called her by her first name in that form, and truth was, he'd wanted to do so since the first day, honestly, but he'd not been able to. He hadn't hadn't found the courage to do so. Afraid of being inadequate, of just not being enough, and in his defense, this was all just new to him. There wasn't a book to drive him through the very real messy process of actually having a friend.
And again, Ken wasn't stupid. He wasn't an idiot. He may have been awkward, and he may have been new at the whole friendship thing, but he smart enough to have realized after a while that some of the thoughts he held for her were not exactly in the friendship department. He hadn't even begun to untangle that mess, and he wasn't ready to poke and prod at it, but he wasn't stupid. He knew himself at least.
Something about that form however, just seemed to destroy most inhibition, and thus, the name just slipped out, time and time again. It wasn't that he didn't want to say it; he very much did. Ken didn't think he could help it, as much as he couldn't help the strangely spindly arms and anatomy he gained, or his hair from changing color.
It was just a thing, and he'd had to get used to it. It was what it was.
Specially because anger wasn't exactly the only emotion that could trigger a transformation. Fear was just as capable of it as well.
He'd found out the hard way, when a particularly loud sound had crashed through her temple one day when she'd gone outside to fetch something. She'd left him in her room, promising she'd be back as soon as possible, and to make himself comfortable. Ken had sat himself on the floor and had been admiring the organized chaos of the room, and the certain lack of posters he could remember from the first day there, when the sound had caught his attention. Metal like, loud and in his fear hazed mind, entirely out of place.
He'd been up on his feet, transformed and zooming outside her room faster than he'd been able to react or even process thought in a coherent manner. The burst of speed enough that he was outside and in front of her before the sound had even stopped reverberating across the premises. The fear that something had happened while he'd been upstairs and she outside had been visceral, and when he found her looking owlishly at him, with pipes around her (clearly the source of the sound), the relief had been just as visceral, "Momo..."
Demonstrating once more that innate sharpness, the girl took one look at him, and somehow managed to read him in the space of time it too him to process that she was fine, and that they were, in fact, not under attack, "Ah," it was a soft sound of understanding as she took her eyes off of him and turned to look at the pipes scattered on the stone floor at her feet, "Sorry. I noticed them over there, and figured I'd get them moved for grandma behind the main shrine before she had to do so later. They're not heavy for me now, given circumstances," as if to emphasize this, she made a small grabby motion with her hands, and the pipes lifted into the air as if by themselves, "But... I got distracted by something and dropped them, my bad," she left the obvious unsaid; she hadn't meant to scare and startle him, and he was grateful to her for not pointing it out.
"Momoooo..." The gratefulness for her continued safety seeped through him like a cold bath, and he found himself taking a step forward and flopping his head in an almost boneless fashion against her shoulder. His forehead was resting against her body, his posture hunched slightly over her, and by the time he'd done so, he couldn't be arsed to move away; she'd push him away anyways, it didn't matter. Nothing really mattered anyways.
To her credit, rather than do that, after a just a moment, Momo's hand went up and patted the top of his head, "There, there, you big idiot, it's fine, see? Everything's fine," he hadn't told her, back when she'd let him use her lap to nap, but that was likely the first time someone not blood related had offered him any sort of physical comfort. He wasn't used to touching. He wasn't used to any of this, which, granted, didn't mean he didn't want it, just... that he was unsure when it was okay to ask for it, or if it was out of the question to do it back. The strange thought processes of his transformation made it very muddy and he seemed to rely on her body language to read what was and wasn't okay to do, "Feeling better?"
Ken took the moment to catalogue his feelings and well, "Still bummed," he said, head remaining pressed against her, and Momo let out a sigh, her hand lowering from his hair to rub his back in a comforting, circular motion.
"Yeah, that about tracks," she said, "I meant more along the lines of if you've calmed down now."
He offered a small nod against her shoulder, his vision entirely blocked by body, what with his forehead pressed against it, allowing at least one sense to be muted.
"Cool, 'kay," after a few more seconds, she lifted her hand and tapped his side slightly in poke poke poke fashion, a movement that seemed to indicate without words or a push that she wanted him to move, and thus he did. Ken lifted his head off her shoulder and watched her through near unblinking eyes, "Help me move these pipes to where I was gonna take them, and then we'll figure out... this" she gestured to him, head to toe, and again, because she asked, he did exactly what she wanted without protest. He scooped up the few pipes she wasn't carrying with her powers and followed her to the back of the main shrine, where he'd spent that first night.
He was quite sure she could have, at this point in time, asked him to fetch her the moon and stars, and despite the impossibility of it, Ken was sure he would have given it his best try regardless.
"Right, okay, lesee," the moment they had gotten rid of the pipes, Momo had turned to gaze at him, looking him up, then down, and then back up again, "You stayin' like that then?" he had no idea what to tell her, and just watched her, which was apparently enough for her to roll her eyes, "Right, always forget you get super weird like this. So... tell me. What do you think would help?"
Well, Ken wasn't exactly sure what would help in this state. Maybe nothing would. Everything felt so... useless when he was like this, like nothing quite mattered either way, and thinking about it was stressing him out further.
Something about his expression, which he hadn't figured had shifted whatsoever, seemed to indicate enough to her that she rolled her eyes, "Stop overthinking everything, dummy. What do you think would help at this precise moment. What do you need?"
Well, need was a strong word. He didn't need anything, but he figured there was something he wanted. The moment the notion flashed through his mind, his mouth opened, and out it came, absolutely no filter, "Can I hold you?" It was immediately clear from the way she looked at him, absolutely flabbergast, that out of all the things she had expected him to say, this one was nowhere on the list. Her mouth opened and closed two times without sound before Ken decided that honestly, nothing mattered anyways. In for a penny, in for a pound, "Just need a moment to calm down, and last time, when we were running, having you close helped."
She blinked owlishly for another two to three seconds, looked away from him in thought and seemed to come to a conclusion. Like with everything Momo did, when she turned back to look at him, she'd planted her feet and looked determined, clearly not about to back down anymore, "Sure, 'kay, let's do that," and she spread her arms in an awkward initiation of a hug.
Having gotten permission, he angled his body not to hug her, but to pick her up off the ground like one would have a small pet animal, eliciting a startled yelp out of the girl. He then allowed himself to flop on the ground, setting her on the ground in front of him and processed to wrap himself in a near boneless fashion around her, his upper hand leaned over her shoulder, legs spread out in front of him, and instantly... things were marginally better.
"Okarun!" Momo had found her voice again, and though she did not squirm out of her position, did reach out to give his head a light smack, eliciting a huff out of him, "A little warning next time!"
"You said I could though."
"I was expecting to be held, not to be picked up swaddled by your limbs!" despite her words, there was no real anger in her voice, and she slowly relaxed her back to lean against his chest, "You're lucky it's hot as fuck out and you're cold," this was said in a murmur, which was dumb, in his opinion. After all, if she didn't want him to hear her, murmuring near his ear was not exactly the best course of action.
Silence fell and for a good amount of time, during which he closed his eyes and took in the signs she was alive (her scent, her heartbeat, the way her chest expanded each time she took in breath), he moved not an inch.
"Better?" it was reminiscent of the question she'd asked him a bit earlier, and he offered, well... not a nod, but a simile of it, his whole cranium flopping over like it was too heavy for his neck to hold. Momo's response was a sigh as she once again patted his head, once twice before her arm fell back upon her lap, "Good."
Ken expected her to poke him, tell him enough was enough, push away even, but the girl did no such thing. He opened an eye to watch her slide hers shut, and thus, following her example, he did so too.
For now, it seemed like she was as content to sit and bask as he was.

So I watched someone's byler analysis video on youtube, and their perspective on the van scene blew my mind for some reason? Idk why I never even considered this. It seems so obvious, but it's made me think thoughts.
I love speculating abt what Mike was thinking during the van scene... but yeah they said that Mike probably knew that Will was talking about himself during the veiled love confession.
Most people think Mike is oblivious, but I have a feeling that Mike REMEMBERED that El doesn't know about the painting + that it was for 'someone Will likes'.
If Mike really, truly thought the painting was from El, and that those were El's feelings that Will talked about, why all the lip glances? Why all the longing stares and gulps and breathing? Mike felt so moved by the painting and by Will's words... if he thought they were from El, wouldn't he just stare longingly out the window or anywhere else OTHER than WILL?
The byler analyst also said that Mike's 'Yeah?' at the end was one of uncertainty - he was subtly asking for confirmation that these were Will's feelings. Like it's just dawned upon Mike that Will might have feelings for him, and his hopes are getting up. He said that sort of to 'test the waters.'
People also wonder why Mike didn't say anything when he saw Will cry into his hand. But I think:
They weren't alone, so anything said would have to be veiled anyways.
Mike and Will often speak to each other under the guise of talking abt El... it happened at Rink-O-Mania too. It would be difficult for Mike to say anything directly to Will after that van conversation, maybe?
Mike may have saw that Will needed space for a bit? Or Mike himself needed time to process their conversation and revel in the painting?
The byler analyst also said that this conversation led Mike to almost break up with El at the pizza place, which I agree with too. It very much looked like a mutual breakup about to take place. I feel like Mike has wanted to break up with El for a while now... he keeps on telling Will about his relationship problems, as if he subconsciously wants encouragement that breaking up would be the right choice for them.
Anyways, when Will said, 'You're the heart' whilst El was choking, a switch might have flipped in his brain. It went from:
Will? sees me as the heart?
Wait... it really was El who sees me as the heart... wait... so it was all El all along? Not Will? Not Will at all? But I thought-
Which explains the confusion and distress on Mike's face as Will probed him. As the byler analyst pointed out, if Mike REALLY thought all along that the painting + Will's words were from El, there is NO reason for him to seem so confused when Will reminded him that 'You're the heart.'
And that's when Mike's hopes fell again. Anyways, would love your thoughts on this!
Hello! How are you?
Ok, so at first I wasn't entirely sure Mike figured out the feelings Will was talking about were his, but the more I think about the scene, the more convinced I get that even though he didn't know everything, he knew enough.
Finn claimed that he asked the Duffers how Mike could have been that oblivious but I think he's a lying liar who lies because he did not play that scene as if he didn't know that his character didn't know. No, he played as if he was entranced by Will - not by the painting that was supposedly coming from the girl he loved - but by the person giving it to him.
So I totally believe that he knew, how much he knew I can't say for sure, but he knew something which explains Finn's acting choices, because like you said, if he truly thought the words were from El, he wouldn't have looked at Will like that.
And is the perfect setup for more misunderstandings, because as soon as Will tells Mike he's the heart, he figures he misunderstood the entire thing, he probably felt like he was such an idiot, which also explains his expressions, and it leaves the writer in the position of allowing Mike to be the one pining and believing his feelings are unrequited.
OH THE ANGST!!

The Lies We Tell
There were so many different types of lies that he could spend hours talking about them. The cases for them and against them. In fact, him and Quinn had spent countless hours over the years talking about lying and how fucked it was to lie. Well, it was Quinn who held steadfast in that position. He'd always defended it being okay to lie sometimes. He never wanted to admit to her just how much lying he had been doing. Lied about just looking for a friend the night they met. About how he felt every time she went on another date. He even lied to her just last night. A lie by omission. Rather than telling her that he had been absolutely terrified he'd fucked everything up by kissing her, he instead fucked things up even more.
Sometimes the biggest lies, however, were the ones we told ourselves. He’d told himself he was fine being just a friend. Told himself that she was too good for him. That he wasn’t stupidly, irrevocably head over heels for her, and definitely just fine having her any way that he could. He’d be a dead man if she ever found out. Best to keep that part to himself.
The sound of her laughter filtered through to the kitchen from the backyard, reminding him of what the fuck he was doing. Dinner. Steaks. Pretending like everything was totally normal and he wasn’t the biggest fucking idiot in the world. Easy as pie. He actually never understood that saying. Making pie was hard as fuck.
With a tray full of raw steak in one hand, and a beer for Quinn in the other he stepped outside, squinting against the god awful sun. Quinn’s screech followed by a splash brought a smile to his lips. They definitely needed to talk soon. Before his two big fuck ups fucked up the rest of the house. They needed to clear the air a bit. And he needed to apologize for being an idiot and putting everything they had all built together on the line like he had. Definitely for ghosting her, too. That was fucked. Trying to pretend like he hadn’t kissed her and avoiding her after was absolutely fucked up of him to do to his best friend.
“So, you kissed her, huh?”
Nicholas’ voice next to him startled him. Had he really been that lost in thought he didn’t hear his brother walk over? The man was in flip flops for crying out loud.
“Jesus Christ, dude.” Noah shook his head, tossing the steaks on the grill. “How did you know?”
“I mean, we all kind of assumed something happened with you two. You being a cowardly piece of shit and avoiding her was a big clue. Huge, actually. But, uh, heard her yelling at you and saw her about to kick your fucking door in last night.”
Fuck. If he had heard that, what else had he heard?
“Yeah.” No sense in lying. He would know if he was anyway. They’d been best friends for so long they just referred to each other as brothers now.
“About fucking time. Watching you two dance around each other has been fucking torture, man.” Nicholas leveled him with a stern stare. Ah, fuck. Here came the big brother part. “Did you apologize for being a fucking asshole and ghosting her while actively living in the same house?”
“Yeah? No? Man, I don’t fucking know.”
Noah flipped the steaks, all but one. While they all preferred theirs pretty rare, she preferred an even medium. Something he had learned the first time he had cooked for her. Watching her go back into the kitchen to cook it just a little more was forever seared into his brain. The first time he had let her down. From that point forward he made sure he only ever made her food the exact way she liked it. She hadn’t even complained. Just asked if he minded if she cooked it just a little longer while thanking him for feeding her.
“Do it. Man up, Noah. I hate to say it, but if you fuck up this family we’ve all built brick by boring fucking brick, she gets me in the divorce. Don’t worry. I’ll visit on the weekends.”
Noah flipped Quinn’s steak, taking the others off the grill. He knew Nicholas wouldn’t actually just stop being his friend. It was all his way of letting him know he was fucking up. Which meant he had to be okay with just friends again. And he was. He really was.
Sometimes, the biggest lies are the ones we tell ourselves.

Prowlbee
Bumblebee feeling insecure about his relationship with Prowl and his team in general.
He isn’t like other mechs and he knows that.
He isn’t socially graceful, he’s small for a bot— a minicon by dysfunction ( disability ) not physically strong and overly chatty at the worst of times. With a temper and faked over confidence that was far beyond his size with a damaging need for acceptance and to prove his spark existing is not being squandered.
He has many faults that he rather not acknowledge in public and plenty that are written plain as Bulkheads large servos on his transcripts.
He’s a bot with not a lot going for him, he knows this. He doesn’t need you to remind him Sentinel, thank you very much.
He’s not an idiot contrary to belief.
He’s smart enough to know he shouldn’t hope for much let alone have much since he’s just a discarded spark that grew up in the slum sparkling centers that have been condemned since he reached mechhood.
Bee is well aware his chances are not supposed to be great in life.
But somehow…they are.
He’s less bluster and forced ego and over compensation.
He’s become a scout for his faction.
One of the very best they have due to his speed and size.
He’s become incredible at remaining silent during missions just as he once did in the centers and on the streets.
He’s learned to stop broadcasting his flaws by poorly painted confidence and actually excel where he can.
It sucks that he doesn’t have all the good qualities his teammates do but he must have something good if he’s the best scout and Prowl has optics on him.
The ninja bot began courting him in his own strange way that Bee accepted on accident.
They both knew this and yet Bee didn’t refuse any of the mechs gestures, words, gifts or time.
Prowl left him notes reminding him to fuel and to put a pillow on his back while streaming.
The mech would place his servo on his lower back and whisper comforts or reminders into his audial when no one was looking or they were alone in passing.
Simple gifts like cute themes to match his gaming setup. He was a sucker for chibi knickknacks and mini pillows to put on his berth. A little secret between the two that all but one came from Prowl.
The mech was careful and strategic yet natural while courting Bee but all Bee had to offer was spending time with Prowl and gifting him plants to his growing garden.
Bee would sit silently with audial jammers on to listen to music and game while Prowl meditated beside him.
He would join Prowl in the fueler and cook for him.
He learned early on how to make anything taste good since he had no choice but to consume lower dregs most didn’t like.
Bee had no family to greet or welcome Prowl into and he had nothing fancy or expensive to give Prowl.
All he had was his spot on the team, his title as best scout and being able to finally sit still and not yap Prowls audial off.
He figured thats what Prowl wanted but he was yet again wrong.
Prowl didn’t want him to change unless its what Bee himself wanted.
He didn’t want a quieter partner nor just a berth warmer.
He wanted a conjunx.
He wanted Bee.
And who was Bee to say no to one of the few good things in his life?
He wasn’t.
He was simply B from the 127th slum on Cybertron that no longer existed.
A bot who became one of the best scouts his faction had seen and a mech who was under team Prime and helped Optimus Prime on Earth end the war.
…
But at night, at home, in berth, the kitchen, laid back in the oil tubs or relaxing in his gaming chair…
He was Bee.
Prowls little dancing Bee.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It feels like there’s a hole in your chest. You go through the motions, not paying attention to much else. It feels good to throw yourself into your work. There’s nothing else keeping you steady anymore. The sting of rejection hangs heavy on your skin, it’s all you can think about. Does Leon know? Does he know that you want to know him as intimately as you know guts and sinew? Does he know how bad it hurts to know that he won’t let you?
“You’re being dramatic,” Rebecca says. You look at her through your lashes over the files you’re examining. “I’m sure it wasn’t that bad,”
You sigh. No, perhaps it wasn’t. “I don’t know,”
Rebecca frowns, contorting her soft features into some kind of sympathy, and leaves you to your sorrow.
Your apartment is so empty when you return to it. It’s always been this way, but it somehow feels worse now. Before your trip to New York, you’d had something to hope for. You felt a bit brighter. Now, you feel as empty as the living room of your place. It’s too cold here.
You collect your forgotten glass from last night. There’s a bit of liquor still loose in the bottom. You wash it out in the sink and place the glass on the counter. You feel like crying.
Everything is too much. The case that is no longer yours lives in your brain, Leon’s rejection weighs down your bones, and you feel more alone than you have in months.
You don’t even realize you’re crying until the salty taste runs over your lips. Tears claw at your throat, feeling like barbed wire scratching at your insides. You try to blink them away, but it just makes their assault worse. With a sigh, you sink to the floor. You feel pathetic, crying on your kitchen linoleum. There's nothing worse than crying alone in a place not meant for tears. You breathe in deeply, feeling empty with each intake. You put your head in your hands.
It’s then that your phone rings. With a groan, you stand, snagging the phone from where it rests on the counter. You flip it open with one hand.
“Hello?” you ask, sniffing aggressively in order to maintain some sort of composure.
“You okay?” Rebecca’s voice, soft and delicate, drifts into your ear from the speaker.
“Yeah,” you lie. “Place is real dusty, made the mistake of kicking it all up,”
With a small laugh, Rebecca continues. “I just wanted to remind you of the gala tomorrow night. The whole team is going, which includes you, so wear something nice,”
You roll your eyes. “I think I’ll sit this one out. Those places make me anxious anyway,”
“No way,” Rebecca says. “You have to come. You’re, like, the guest of honor,”
You frown deeply, scrunching your features together in what looks like a wince. A gala is the last thing you need right now. It really sounds like your worst nightmare.
“He’ll be there,” Rebecca says. You frown more.
“Is that supposed to convince me to come?” you ask, picking at a piece of the counter that’s peeling up.
“When’s the last time you saw him?”
“Probably a month ago,” you say, pursing your lips. “Haven’t seen him since we got back from New York,”
“Yikes,” Rebecca says. You roll your eyes. She doesn’t know the half of it. “Just wear something nice, okay? I expect to see you decked out in all your best jewels,”
“Right, because I’m known for those,” you joke.
She bids you goodbye, and you stare at the shadows on your floor cast by your body in the light of the rangehood. You don’t even know what you would say to Leon. An apology doesn’t seem quite right, neither does pretending nothing ever happened. If anything, you’re sort of hoping he ignores you completely. That would be much easier than pretending to enjoy small talk.
With a groan, you take yourself to bed. This is something you can think about in the morning.
The sunlight does not shed any new perspective on the situation. You’re hopelessly staring at your closest, running through your options of what to wear.
“This is childish,” you mumble to no one in particular, and thread through your clothes to find a simple button down and pleated pants. They will have to do.
You dress quickly. You’re stuffing your shirt into your pants when a button pops off. It lands with a clang against your mirror. You groan, a long, drawn out sound that releases some of your tension. Why can’t anything go right for you on days like this? You reach down to pick up the fallen button, choosing to discard it on your nightstand. Maybe you could figure out how to sew it back on. It can’t be much different than sewing up a wound, right?
The taxi ride to the banquet hall is silent, save for the staticky noise of the radio. The cabbie doesn’t speak, and you prefer it that way. There’s not much for you to say anyway, at least in terms of small talk. You’re not exactly keen on sharing your pathetic situation either. So you remain silent until you pull up to the building. Checking your pockets for your necessities, you push out of the cab. It’s starting to drizzle, so you hurry inside.
You find Rebecca quickly, wearing a beautiful tan dress that hugs her figure well. You suddenly feel frumpy. The cuffs of your sleeves are fraying, your shoes are a size too small, and your pants barely brush the tops of your feet. Maybe you should’ve just stayed home.
“You made it!” Rebecca cheers, shoving a glass of champagne into your hand. “I wasn’t entirely sure you would,”
You force a smile, and say, “Me neither,”
She grins at you, threading her arm through yours. She drags you amongst the other guests, greeting the ones she knows and introducing herself to the ones she doesn’t. You admire her ability to fit into any space. There’s no evidence to suggest that she has ever seen horror, no clues that point to sorrow running in her veins. You cannot say the same for yourself. You’re fidgety, uncomfortable, and try your best not to speak to others. Your eyes shift across the ballroom, looking at the hundreds of heads that are crammed into the space. It makes you frown.
“Doing okay?” Rebecca asks. You nod. “We can find somewhere to sit?”
“You keep mingling,” you say, pulling your arm free from her. “Come find me when it gets boring,”
She flashes you a smile that has lingering worry, and lets you drift into the crowd. This is the last place you want to be, and she knows it. You find an empty table near a big window. The curtains are drawn back, and you can see the rain beginning to pelt down onto the courtyard outside. You’re not sure how long you watch the rain fall, casually sipping your champagne. The screech of a chair being pulled out beside you draws you back to reality.
Leon looks handsome, albeit uncomfortable, in his pressed suit. He fidgets with the cuffs of his jacket as he sits, pointedly avoiding eye contact with you. You swallow hard.
“You looked lonely,” he says, adjusting in his chair. “Figured you could use some company,”
“I appreciate the kindness,” you say, setting your glass onto the table. He finally levels his gaze on you, and a chill snakes down your spine. “I’m alright, though,”
“Maybe I just wanted an excuse to get away from the crowd,” he says, half smiling.
You’re not sure what to say, so you don’t say anything. You turn your gaze back to the throng of people casually conversing like nothing bad has ever happened. The thought makes you frown. Of all the horrors and devastation you’ve seen, this has got to be the worst. People mingling and drinking like others aren’t dying a few states away.
“Weird, isn’t it?” Leon’s voice pulls you back to him. It’s a bit gruff and worn, like he’s been talking all night. Maybe he has. “Seeing people dance and laugh and be so care free?”
You nod. “They have no idea what’s out there,”
“No, they don’t,” he says, trailing his eyes over your crossed legs. “Maybe it’s better that way,”
“Maybe,” you muse, reaching for your glass again. It was half full before Leon sat down; it’s now almost completely empty. Your mouth feels dry.
“How’ve you been?” Leon asks, leaning forward, forearms on his knees. You watch him carefully, like he’s hiding something.
“Fine,” you say. You’re not sure why the words come out so clipped. You can’t find it in yourself to be sorry, though. He wants arm’s length? That’s what you’ll give him. “You?”
He frowns. “I’m alright. Just haven’t heard from you,”
“Didn’t know you wanted to,” you say. The lines around his mouth deepen, and you want to kiss them away.
“Are we back to this, then?” he asks. You feel his gaze on every inch of your skin. You feel suddenly exposed, raw. You frown.
“This is what you wanted, isn’t it?” you ask, swallowing. “Easier that way,”
You’re not sure why you throw the words back in his face, but you don’t exactly regret it. He watches you like he’s studying you.
“Is that what you want?” he asks, voice low and delicate, like he’s treading uncharted waters. You suppose that’s exactly what he’s doing.
You frown. “You said it. Not me,”
“But is that what you want?”
You don’t know. You want him to give you more than surface level. You want him to be open with you. You want him to laugh at your jokes, and sit on your couch, and help you cook dinner. You want him to know you.
“I don’t know, Leon,” you say. Something sparks in his eyes, an emotion you can’t quite place.
He’s silent for a while before asking, “What’s your sister’s name?”
You gape at him. “Angela,”
“Did you like having a sibling growing up?” he asks, scooting his chair a few inches closer.
You smile a bit. “Sometimes. Other times, I wanted her to disappear. Y’know, sibling quarrel and all that,”
“I don’t, actually,” he says. You furrow your brow. “I didn’t have any siblings,”
“Oh,” you say, because there’s not much else you can say. “You’re welcome to have mine, if you like,”
He laughs then, bright and wide. “I think I’m alright. I’ve learned to like being alone,”
“What did you do?” you ask. “Before everything, I mean,”
He contemplates your question for a moment, like he’s deciding if he wants to share pieces of himself with you. “I was a cop,”
“Noble,” you say, smiling. “That tracks,”
“What did you do?”
“Nothing,” you say, sighing. “Was training to be an EMT, but…things got in the way, and now I’m here,”
“So you’ve always been interested in medicine?” he asks. You nod. “Did you ever want to be a doctor?”
“No,” you say. “Wanted to be in the thick of it. Saving lives, and all that,”
He grins. “Bet you regret that a bit now,”
You shrug. “Sometimes. I like my job,”
“Even when it’s hard?”
“Even when it’s hard,”
He’s silent then. You watch him watch you. Something shifts in the tension between you, and you relax into your chair a bit more. There’s no one else in the room, no music playing, nothing. Just you and Leon, trying your hands at getting to know someone. You’re not sure you know how to be vulnerable like this anymore, not after everything. Visions of blood caked under your fingernails and memories of the screams of the damned make knowing another person challenging.
“What’s your favorite color?” you ask. He grins at you like a child.
“Green,” he says. You nod. “Yours?”
“I like a good burgundy,” you say. He rolls his eyes playfully. “Or maroon,”
“Are those not the same thing?”
You laugh. “Not even close. Burgundy is more brown, maroon is more of a reddish purple,”
“Right, my bad,” he says, smiling.
The hole in your chest begins to close. This feels like an olive branch. You want to pull him into your orbit, feel him on every inch of your skin. You want him to consume you. You’re almost positive that he would.
“Come dance with me,” he says. You almost drop your jaw at the suggestion.
“Who are you and what have you done with Leon?” you tease, wringing your hands together. You want to take him up on the offer, more than you think you know, but it doesn’t seem like something he would do. You’re almost worried that this is some cruel ploy.
He laughs. “We can do something normal for once. No harm in it,”
You nod, standing to follow him into the crowd of other couples. His hand is steadfast on your waist, the other gently clasping one of your own. You feel stiff as he leads.
“Loosen up,” he says, leaning further into you. Your throat feels like it closes up.
“I’m loose,” you lie. He grins at you, perfectly soft lips pulling around his stupidly white teeth. God, you want to kiss him.
You decide then that you don’t want easy. You don’t want to keep him at an arm’s length, and you’ll do anything to convince him he doesn’t want it either. You want him, wholly and vulnerable, completely. You want him to look out for you. You want to do mundane, domestic things with him. You want to cut his hair because the barber never gets it right. You want to walk into the kitchen and see him doing the dishes, not because you asked but because he wanted to clean up your conjoined space. You want to fold laundry with him.
You’ve never wanted this way, or this much. Before, you’d been so content to let him be cold and detached, to throw yourself into your work and live alone. Now, you’re not happy with that. And you think he knows that too.
“You look nice tonight,” he says, voice low and gentle. It washes over you in a wave, settling your bones and warming your blood.
“Careful,” you tease, smiling. “I might think you’ve gone soft on me,”
“I think you knew that already,” he says. “This is the part where you tell me that I look nice too,”
He does look nice. You knew that already. His suit is almost all black, save for the cuff links that shine against the lights of the ballroom. He looks more than nice. He looks perfect, collected.
“Well, now you’ve gone too far,” you say, grinning so wide that your cheeks hurt. He rolls his eyes. “You do look nice, though,”
When the music fades out, he doesn’t let go. You don’t want him to anyway. You want to stay here, like this, forever. You want him to keep holding you until you’re both no more than dust. He drums a rhythm on your side with his fingers, and a shiver runs through you.
“Take a walk with me,” he says, almost bumping his nose with yours when he leans in to look at you. He’s a hair’s width away, and if you leaned in a touch, you’d be kissing him. You wonder what would happen if you did.
“Okay,” you say.
He leads you out of the crowd by your hand, which you can feel the beads of sweat beginning to form upon. You catch Rebecca’s eye as you move through the crowd. She gives you a wide smile and a subtle thumbs up, which you scowl at. It’s raining hard when you exit the ballroom. You can barely see the cars on the street ahead of you through the thick sheet of water coming down.
“Still want to take that walk?” you ask, looking up at Leon. He’s still holding your hand. He grins at you.
“Afraid you’ll melt?” he returns. You laugh. He gives your hand a squeeze. “Just for a bit,”
You’re soaked to the bone two minutes after you step into the shower. Your clothes stick to every inch of your skin and a cold wind blows, threatening to freeze the very marrow within your body. You won’t let it, not when Leon is looking at you the way he is, cheeks tinged pink from laughter and smiling so wide that you can see your reflection in his teeth.
He never once lets go of your hand as he leads you down the sidewalk. You’re silent, but it’s not uncomfortable. A car whizzes by, nearly splashing you, but Leon pulls you into him and covers your body with his. You catch a whiff of whatever fancy cologne he’s wearing, and you almost feel drunk on it. Maybe it’s the champagne you’d been sipping, but you’re not sure. He keeps you within reach, just in case another car attempts to sour your evening, he says.
“Why do you never call me by my name?” he asks suddenly, looking at you through stringy and soaked hair.
You shrug. “Everyone calls you by your name,” you say. “That’s also not entirely true. I only call you ‘Kennedy’ sometimes,”
“Only when you’re mad at me,” he says, grinning. “Which is often,”
“Well,” you say, returning the wattage of his smile. “There’s your answer,”
You stare at him for a moment, taking in the sheer beauty of his person. Before, you’d thought he was all hard edges and crisp lines. That he would cut you if you got too close. Now, though, in this moment and this lighting, he is the softest thing you’ve ever seen. Round cheekbones, soft lips, gentle features that are perfectly symmetrical. He has a few freckles dotted across his cheeks, smile lines that make his eyes crinkle. A hairline scar that extends across his right cheek. Without thinking, you reach out, smoothing your fingertips over it. It’s not that deep, barely snagging on the ridges of your fingerprints. You hear a breath hitch in his throat at the movement.
“Sorry,” you say, retracting your hand. “I didn’t mean to do that,”
“It’s okay,” he says, voice barely above a whisper. His eyes scan your face, lashes fluttering against the assault of the rain. He returns the gentle gesture by pushing a few wet strands of hair out of your eyes. His touch is ghostly, barely there.
“I never thanked you,” you say. He furrows his brows. “For staying with me that night. It…it really helped me,”
“You needed me,” he says. “Did you know that you snore?”
You bark a laugh that you can’t stop from bubbling over the surface. “I do not,”
He grins. “You totally do. It’s almost scary. I didn’t know a person could make that kind of noise,”
“You’re so mean,” you say, frowning. “You really know how to flatter someone,”
He rolls his eyes. “C’mon, let’s go. I need out of these clothes,”
He leads you down a few winding streets, making turns that seem random. It dawns on you then that he’s bringing you back to his apartment. Your heart leaps into your throat, clogging up your breath and your functioning. Your brain is swimming. You’re going to see how he lives, what his life looks like outside of work. He’s letting you.
He only drops your hand to get the door open. The lock jams, which you can’t help but laugh at, and then he’s finally letting you into his space.
His apartment is almost bare, similar to yours. White walls wrap the space, a few items dotted around on tables. He doesn’t own a television, you note. There’s a wall of shelves, though, filled pretty decently with books. You didn’t take him for a reader, but you suppose it makes sense. You toe your shoes off near the door, soaked clothes dripping onto the hardwood floor beneath you.
“Sorry about the mess,” you say, looking up at him. He shrugs.
“Better rain water than something else,” he says. You smile.
You follow him to his room, watching the way he begins to loosen in the space. Regardless of the lack of personality, this place is his home. It’s where he feels most comfortable, most him. And he let you into it. He digs through a tattered dresser that has likely seen many homes, turning only to haphazardly chuck an old shirt at you. You barely catch it, letting out a huff of air at the impact. He follows it with a pair of shorts.
“You’re welcome to shower,” he says, tugging off his sopping suit jacket. He begins working on the buttons of his shirt next, and you almost let your jaw drop.
“I think I’m done with water for a few hours,” you say, cheeks growing warm. He’s halfway to his navel when you excuse yourself to the bathroom. You guess on which door it is and push into it, closing it behind you. You catch your breath.
You feel giddy. You can’t help the childish smile that creeps onto your lips.You change quickly, catching a glimpse of yourself in the mirror.
You look frumpy, but very comfortable. You wonder what you’ll do next. Maybe he’ll just call you a cab and send you home. You pray to whoever is listening that that isn’t the case. With a heavy exhale, you leave the bathroom.
“Just leave your clothes in there,” Leon hollers from his bedroom. “I’ll deal with it tomorrow,”
You nod, following his voice. He’s clad in a sweatshirt that is a bit too big on him and a pair of sweatpants. He looks so human. You take a moment to look around the room. Where he didn’t have a television in his living room, he does have one in here. You think that’s odd. There’s a VHS player balanced precariously on top of a few books, wires running across the floor to connect to the television on a table. You wonder if this is where he spends most of his time. He leans over the VHS player, popping a tape into its mouth. Then, he settles into his bed.
You’re standing in the doorway, wearing his clothes, watching him get comfortable in his bed. You feel like some weird stalker or voyeur. It makes the tips of your ears burn.
“You can come sit, y’know,” Leon says, grinning at you. Something shifts in his gaze; he must see the turmoil on your face. “Or I can call you a cab,”
You shake your head, moving to join him. He leaves plenty of space between you–always the gentleman. You don’t recognize the movie playing on the screen, but you watch it anyway, focus so trained on it to prevent you from staring at Leon. The film drones on even though you’re not really paying attention. Leon shifts beside you, arm brushing against yours. You almost stop breathing. You feel silly for feeling this way; childish, weak, vulnerable. You wish you could be more nonchalant, more like your peers. But you don’t know how to be like that anymore. You only know quick action and timidness. You only know how to hide vulnerability for the sake of keeping people from asking if you know what you’re doing. You only know how to be closed off in the hopes that people won’t ask you how you are.
Because you know the answer. You know that if someone asks, you might unload on them. You might tell them how much you miss your family, how hard it is to dig through bodies and pull out their most valuable pieces. You might tell them how much you miss home, how much you regret taking a job in Raccoon City, how much you wish you’d stayed in school, how much you wish you could hold your nieces.
As you think about it, you begin to cry. You’re not even sure why. It’s after a particularly unbecoming sniffle that Leon shifts his focus to you. You feel very embarrassed, trying in earnest to not let him see you cry.
“I’m sorry,” you say, wiping at your eyes with your wrinkled palms. “Sometimes I get lost in my brain, and it makes me cry,”
He shifts a bit closer to you, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder. His fingers move in circular motions, and you can’t deny how much calmer it makes you feel.
“Talk to me,” he says, almost whispering. You look him in the eye then, and you see the sincerity in his gaze. “I want to listen,”
You sniffle again. “I thought it was easier to be mean to me,”
“I don’t want easy,” he says. You gnaw on your lower lip. “I’m sorry I said that,”
“I don’t want easy, either,” you say. He grins at you then, full and wide, and bright enough to blind you. You wonder if this is the moment you’ve been waiting for. You wonder if he’s finally going to kiss you and get it over with.
“Can I be honest?” he asks. His voice is so soft, so calming, you wonder how you never noticed it before. You nod. “I thought, for a while at least, that if I was just rude enough to you, you would stop following me on missions. I thought that if you couldn’t stand to be around me, you wouldn’t, and you wouldn’t follow me into the jaws of death. Obviously, that didn’t work. That day that you stitched me up? It all hit me. I just…don’t know how to be the man you deserve yet,”
You smile, face warm and light, insides gooey and sticky. “I saw you as a challenge. I would continue to work with you out of spite,”
He rolls his eyes. “I know that now,”
“My turn for honesty,” you say, voice shaking a bit. “I was…in Raccoon City. When everything happened, I mean. I saw it first hand. It’s the reason I am where I am. I was training to be an EMT there, had some friends I’d been staying with. That’s why I get so…weird when I have to do my job. It’s why everything is so hard,”
He nods as he listens. “That must have been hard,” he says. You nod.
“It was devastating,” you say, breathless. “If I was shy before–which I was, mind you–I was a recluse after. It’s why I don’t go out, why I don’t like groups of people, why I have such a hard time being vulnerable,”
“I know what that’s like,” he says. You feel like your heart cracks open, beckoning him inside.
“You make me want to learn how,” you say, trying your hardest not to look away from him. “You make me want to learn how to be vulnerable, how to be open. I’ve told you things even Rebecca doesn’t know about me. I just…struggle with it sometimes,”
He’s silent as he watches you, and you worry that you’ve said the wrong thing. Maybe he just wants to be friends, have an extra shoulder around for when things get to be too much. Maybe you’ve read every situation, every interaction completely wrong. You don’t really know what you’re doing, after all. Maybe your naivety clouded your judgment.
It’s then that he does kiss you. It’s soft and pliant, warming you to your very core. Your hands shift to hold him better, fingers curling around the collar of his sweatshirt to pull him impossibly closer. You melt into him, letting him set little fires across every inch of skin he consumes. You want him to devour you whole. One of his hands finds the back of your head, tilting you ever so slightly to give him better access to you. You give it up without a second thought, a small gasp escaping you as your tongue meets his. In this moment, nothing else exists. The movie playing on the television is drowned out by your bliss, the deafening roar of blood in your ears settles to a beautiful hum. It feels like the crest of a wave splashing back down into the ocean, like a symphony crescendoing. You could die here, wrapped in his warmth and his kisses, and be happy.
When he pulls away, breathless and kiss swollen and reddened, you want to sink back into him. You find it cruel that he would pull away from you, leave you cold where you were so warm before.
“Keep being vulnerable with me,” he says, breath uneven and stuttering. “Please don’t ever stop,”
If he keeps looking at you like this and kissing you, he doesn’t have anything to worry about. You’re more than willing to be whatever he needs, reading to be molded like clay into his desires. You want it. You want him. Your heart flutters at the thought that he wants you too.
Oh god imagine Eri in Tokyo Revengers (She would be so cute and she would be a tough little girl)
Mikey would probably think Eri is a unicorn (He’s curious and fascinated since he’s never seen someone with a horn before) and would probably call her ‘tough’ for standing up to a bully 3x her size to protect her big brother Takamichi
Eri would probably win Toman over because of how sweet and cute she is (Mikey thinks Eri would look like a total ‘badass’ wearing Toman’s Jacket)
Eri won Baji over because cats tend to swarm around her and she’s sweet with him even though he’ll be gruff (Despite him being an idiot) and he swears to protect Eri because she saved his life (When he tried to do the ‘I’m willing to die to keep you safe’ to Eri, he had to spend 20 minutes apologizing along with Mikey and Draken to stop her from crying, making him receive a hit to the head for being an idiot)
Eri is able to subdue Mikey’s inner darkness because she reminds him a lot about his big brother because of her kindness
-Mikey didn’t know what to make of you, the first time he saw you, standing in front of your big brother, trying to defend him, despite shaking like a leaf and tears in your eyes, something Kiyomizu couldn’t help but laugh at, “You’ve got a little girl defending you- what a loser!!”
-A sharp kick from Draken had him flying, much to your amazement before you turned, seeing Mikey and Draken there, both of them looking furious, seeing the state your big brother, Takemichi and his friends were in, and seeing that one of their own was threatening a little girl who was willing to stand up to her brother’s tormentor.
-Mikey instantly was kneeling, a bright smile on his face, “Hey there- are you a unicorn?” he had never met someone with a horn before, and while you were a bit self-conscious of it, being called a unicorn made your cheeks turn red as you cupped your cheeks, looking a bit embarrassed, “A unicorn? No- I’m just Y/N.”
-He beamed brightly, showing his rare soft side and many were amazed to see their leader being so soft with a child as he introduced himself and Draken to you. However, then Mikey showed his dark side as he turned, standing to face those who had been just standing around, watching you defending your big brother and did nothing.
-Draken had picked you up, keeping you safe and while you were a bit shy with him, you could tell he was a nice person, much like your big brother who had stood, looking worried for you, only for a moment as Mikey was threatening those who had done nothing, making them all shake in fear as he turned back to you, pointing at you, “Y/N was willing to do something against that bastard so why didn’t- OUCH!!! Why’d you hit me Ken-chin?!”
-Draken had delivered an open-handed chop to the top of Mikey’s head, glaring down at him, “No foul language!” Mikey pouted, which was surprising again to you, seeing that he had been so intimidating but now was pouting like a child.
-That’s how you met Mikey and Draken, and how you had been adopted into the gang, gaining so many big brothers almost instantly, something Takemichi was initially concerned about, until he saw how soft these young men were on you.
-If you were in attendance there was to be no swearing- if anyone swore, including Mikey, they would be disciplined by Draken, who seemed to be the only one, besides your brother and Mitsuya, who didn’t swear around you, not wanting you to be tainted.
-Mikey adored seeing you wearing his jacket, sleeves rolled up and looking more like a dress on you as you twirled, feeling happy that you matched your big brothers!
-Mikey fell hard and fast for you, willing to do whatever he needed to do to keep you safe and happy, doting on you like he doted on Emma, who also adored you to pieces, constantly cuddling you and showering you with love and affection.
-It was amusing, seeing the feared Mikey being so whipped by a little girl, but he didn’t care, you reminded him so much of his brother, of Shinichiro- you were so kind, so gentle with him, that he felt like everything was alright in the world as long as you were there, calling him big brother alongside Emma.
-Other members were similarly whipped by you, Draken, despite not showing it like Mikey did, was and he wouldn’t hesitate to take on a whole gang by himself to keep you safe.
-Baji was jealous of you, seeing the cats that would always surround you, wanting pets and scratches, something Takemichi couldn’t help but laugh at, “It’s always been like that with Y/N- wherever we go- the cats always seem to find her.”
-Chifuyu thought it was amusing, seeing Baji so jealous over your skills with cats and whispered to you while he played with you, asking you to bring Baji over to play with the kitties too. Baji was very tsundere with you, acting like an idiot, claiming he didn’t need your help, but sitting in his lap, the cats were quickly crawling over him as well and he was in bliss, enjoying playing with the cats as well.
-Unfortunately, despite Mikey and everyone protecting you, many were quick to see that you were a weakness, you were someone that the enemies of Tokyo Manji Gang could use against them- threatening you to break one of the strongest gangs out there.
-When you were kidnapped, the fury Tokyo Manji felt was indescribable, even your brother, who would normally cry in this situation, was furious, you were an innocent, someone who had nothing to do what had been happening in the gangs.
-Baji had been the one to rescue you, kicking your captors away from you while everyone else was fighting as he held you close, protecting you as he grinned down at you, “I’m going to keep you safe Y/N- or I’ll die trying!”
-Your eyes went wide when he said this but before you could say anything he took a knife to the back, taking the blow as he had turned his body, shielding you.
-You were in shock as everything seemed to freeze, seeing that someone had tried to stab you, a little girl. Mikey quickly took care of that attacker, and the opposing gang were quick to surrender; they were willing to hold you hostage- but they had no intention of ever hurting you.
-Baji survived as Takemichi held him on his bike with you clinging to Baji, your horn glowing slightly and your brother saw it, “Mind yourself Y/N- don’t do too much!”
-You remained silent as you made it to the hospital and Baji was saved, when the doctor came out, telling you all that he was going to be okay, that’s when you finally broke down, crying loudly in your brother’s arms.
-While waiting in Baji’s room, waiting for him to wake up, it was just the two of you, Draken, and Mikey in the room, as they had seen your horn glowing, but wanted to keep it quiet as Mikey spoke, “So did your unicorn horn save Baji?”
-You were quiet, as you were always told to keep your ability a secret, but Takemichi trusted the other two, explaining about your ability, which wasn’t a healing ability per say, it was more like a rewind ability, something you’ve had since you were born, as it would rewind things to a certain point.
-They didn’t know what to make of his explanation, but they both promised to keep it a secret.
-When Baji woke up, your brother gave you to Mikey as you were crying again, so happy that Baji was okay and despite nearly dying, he had to apologize for what felt like forever as Draken and Mikey both scolded him for scaring you while you were crying loudly, hugging Baji.
-He looked down at you, once he received some new lumps on his head from the leaders, grinning brightly, “I told you Y/N- I’m willing to die to protect you! You mean that much to us!”
-Despite meaning well, he made you start crying again, not wanting him to die, which led to more scoldings from the leaders while your brother held you, trying to get you to calm down.
-The gang was more careful with you now, not willing to have a repeat, and if anything, they all grew more protective of you, willing to do whatever it took to keep you safe, but not actually telling you that, as they all knew what happened to poor Baji when he told you something like that, not wanting to risk getting lumps of their own.
-The day Mitsuya presented you with your own uniform, one that fit you, you quickly had most of the members in the gang trying to calm you down as you burst into happy tears, overwhelmed that you had a jacket of your own.
-The Tokyo Manji Gang was one of the most feared gangs around, filled with strong members, but seeing those strong members panicking as they tried to calm you down was rather amusing.
Trying to explain to Harry Potter fans in the year of our lord 2024 that the reason people can still enjoy Minecraft compared to everything Joking TERF has made/continues to make is because Notch no longer earns money from it and in turn, cannot push his ideologies and beliefs onto the players/use said money to support groups who want trans people dead
#I’ve been playing a lot of Minecraft recently#and it’s something these idiots need to be reminded about#even if they’re too boneheaded to listen but yeah#Goldie speaks#little grouchy bc I’m sick but it’s ok it’s always morally correct to hate HP fans#harry potter#for da blacklist#ok to rb
"Can I call you 'Drias?"
"Only one person ever called me that"
"Oh! Gotcha! Too personal. Boundaries, Marcy!"
My babygirl blaming herself and her difficulty reading social cues when she didn't do anything 😭 how was she supposed to know it was "too personal"?? She automatically assumes she did something wrong she assumes she messed up my BABY
#amphibia#my posts#also andrias that is one big fat LIE both Leif and Barrel called you 'Drias#this useless fucking idiot forgot he had a whole ass boyfriend back then 😭😭😭#also -> Marcy having trouble remembering she needs to respect people's boundaries to the point she has a little mantra#to remind herself of that. + the 'prom?' poster reading 'yes or YES' = Marcy crossing the boundaries of her friendship with anne and sasha#by fantazising about going to prom with them. something stereotypically romantic#this is what my friend claude (xx century french anthropologist claude lévi-straus father of functional-structuralism) would call#the ''exaggeration'' of a bond. in his analysis of the myth of Oedipus and in how he linked it to the myth of Antigone#Oedipus incestuous relationship with his mother is analogous to Antigone violating the city laws to illegally bury her dead brother#this is: the exaggeration of a familial bond beyond the reach of what is socially acceptable (yes it's far fetched yes i know yes#yes we talked about it in class)#this is opposed to Oedipus killing his father: the underestimation of familial bonds.#which is analogous to the war between atens and sparta: slaughter among brothers#in this case Marcy's continuous violation of her friends' boundaries betrays an exaggeration of their bond#as exemplified by her ''wanting to take them to prom'' in a ''dream'' (which would be very jungian of her)#don't take my word for this tho because i got a 2 on my last exam so clearly i need to read my lévi-strauss again
if anyone cares have an angel and vic anecdote because i miss her! when we got home on the 19th we were all really tired, we lowkey weren't even thinking about dan and phil at that point because we desperately needed rest. i think at this point everybody else was in the middle of changing or packing. vic was just sitting on the floor folding something and i was compelled to tackle them. a second after we both simultaneously realized that we Did The Thing and we started laughing hysterically about it (because it was funny and also we were exhausted). and in our fervor vic knocked our heads together and hit their nose on my forehead. it was still red the next day. i have been rotating this moment in my mind since friday because pinof day and that was So fucking funny
#vic tag#i wish we recorded more things from the trip to be honest#ofc we never wouldve thought hey lets record us packing in case something funny happens but i would love to rewatch that in 4k live action#instead of my hazy memory vision#i have so many funny little clips of us being idiots#there's this one of my irl doing the corpse pose and vic going through FUNERAL PLAYLISTS to find the right music to play to commemorate#their 'death' and then every time she moved she kept calling it rigor mortis#not what that means really. especially not laughing you do not laugh when you get rigor mortis#there's also one of vic just looking at me#i think i posted that picture#because their face just reminded me of that pic of dan with the glass of water on his head and idk if that was anything but it cracked me u#it's literally just a video of her looking at me. and then going 'did you take the picture? oh ok'#I! Ooooh I’m having Porter thoughts. His masculinity is so performative, he knows how to play into it. He’s comfortable in it but he’s also comfortable not presenting typically masculine. He’s connected to his body and the feelings of it and he can notice a change in it the minute he wakes up and find a way to get back to his base level normal.
But he can’t comprehend his emotions to save his life. He knows rage, he gets anger, but he can go beyond that, he hasn’t stopped at anger in years. He feels and expresses love in the way he does everything else: physically.
Whether it’s through sex, fist fighting, screaming, squeezing the thing so hard until it pops, eating a gift, whatever. If it’s a physical, tangible, bodily expression of love it makes sense to him. But saying it? Hardest thing in the fucking world. Because it requires so much vulnerability and he doesn’t do anything vulnerably. It might fucking kill him.
He loves giving gifts though. He loves cooking. He loves saying “I love you,” in all the ways that don’t involve saying it. The person will understand, right? Jace will understand?
His Jace that is so in tune with his emotions, so vulnerable but in a way that’s so strong to him. He looks at Jace and sees strength in his smiles and soft touches and the kisses he leaves at the corner of his mouth. His Jace that doesn’t hesitate to say I love you for the first time.
Porter still kicks himself for not saying it back in a way that Jace would appreciate. He should’ve said it back, he just didn’t know how.
#Porter ilyyyyy#ilyyyyy sooooo much#porter is so good at being charismatic and being well spoke about the things he knows about and his body#but :/ other emotions and love? it’s so hardddd it’s so hard and he doesn’t feel strong when he tries he just feels stupid#but he admires it in Jace#makes him the strongest dude he knows#if he could verbalize it he just might say it’s what he loves about Jace#he’ll get there#but I don’t think it’s something Jace can help him with bc Jace is VERY impatient and takes port’s lack of verbal communication as him not#liking him or Porter losing interest#little does Jace know Porter is so obsessed with him and it comes out the most in his jealousy#and that’s why Jace LOVES making Porter jealous bc it reminds him Porter feels something strongly enough to want him all for himself#Porter I know you and Jace I know you#I see you two idiots#yall need couples therapy and individual therapy#I’m drafting chapter 7 can you tell LMAO I’m trying to get into the big dumb rock man’s mind (affectionate) even if it kills me#starbreaker#jaceporter#porter cliffbreaker
I'm not an extrovert. At all. In everyday life, I'm a yapper, sure, but I need someone to first assure me I am okay to yap, so I don't start conversations, even when I really want to join in sometimes! It's just the social anxiety acting up. God knows where from and why I lose a lot of my inhibitions when it comes to talking to people about music. I don't know where the confidence has suddenly sprung from. I've made a crazy amount of friends in musical circles, either just talking to people about common music or (since it is after all in music circles) talking to bands about their own music. I let out a sigh of relief any time an interaction goes well, because in truth it's going against my every instinct. I wish I could do that in everyday life
#like that's the point where we need to remind everyone around me that as much as I say#radio is 'a job'-- it's not 'my job' lol. I wish I was this interested in data science#but like. Honestly?? I'm not even a data scientist!? I answered a few questions about classical AI having come from a computer science back#background and now people are saying to me 'I know you're a data scientist and not a programmer' sir I am a computer scientist#what are you on about#and like I guess I get to google things and they're paying me so I'm not complaining but like I am not a data scientist#my biggest data scientist moment was when I asked 'do things in data science ever make sense???' and a bunch of data scientists went#'no :) Welcome to the club' ???????#why did I do a whole ass computer science degree then. Does anyone at all even want that anymore. Has everything in the realm of#computer science just been Solved. What of all the problems I learned and researched about. Which were cool. Are they just dead#Ugh the worst thing the AI hype has done rn is it has genuinely required everyone to pretend they're a data scientist#even MORE than before. I hate this#anyway; I wish I didn't hate it and I was curious and talked to many people in the field#like it's tragicomedy when every person I meet in music is like 'you've got to pursue this man you're a great interviewer blah blah blah'#and like I appreciate that this is coming from people who themselves have/are taking a chance on life#but. I kinda feel like my career does not exist anymore realistically so unless 1) commercial radio gets less shitty FAST#2) media companies that are laying off 50% of their staff miraculously stop or 3) Tom Power is suddenly feeling generous and wants#a completely unknown idiot to step into the biggest fucking culture show in the country (that I am in no way qualified for)#yeah there's very very little else. There's nothing else lol#Our country does not hype. They don't really care for who you are. f you make a decent connection with them musically they will come to you#Canada does not make heroes out of its talent. They will not be putting money into any of that. Greenlight in your dreams.#this is something I've been told (and seen) multiple times. We'll see it next week-- there are Olympic medallists returning to uni next wee#no one cares: the phrase is 'America makes celebrities out of their sportspeople'; we do not. Replace sportspeople with any public professi#Canada does not care for press about their musicians. The only reason NME sold here was because Anglophilia not because of music journalism#anyway; personal
the hallmark of Peak Fiction is shoehorning a very serious conversation about a very serious past conflict in an unrelated scene, in the form of snarky banter played for laughs, so that the writer can pretend they listen to audience feedback, while not needing to fully think of addressing the issue and fully sweeping it under the rug because it would be inconvenient to paint the involved characters as dumbasses/vile. Bonus points if it literally goes nowhere and it can be removed from the scene without affecting the flow of the dialogue.
And if it makes me want to eat my own bones because I feel the urge to beat the involved characters to death with a nailed bat, that's just a plus :)
#fans don't look#anti netflixvania#something something the fiction doesn't fall from the peak#increibl how that scene is the only reference to lenore's betrayal in s4 and it's written like cute flirting. human psychology whomst#also lmao i didn't mean to take a screenshot of lenore's face on that frame#she looks affronted that hector is even remotely calling her out for raping him - the *nerve* of him am i right?#yeah i sure find her lovable and sympathetic :) i fully understand why the shippers believe she cares so much about him :)#she matches sonic's condescending mug and 'well achskually' face as he's painting his best friend like an idiot when he was the dumbass#i'm still so damn bitter that the story ignored sonic letting metal go out of ~vibes~ but beat a dead horse in the form of mr. tinker#guys. sonic nearly caused the end of the world because he decided metal had agency. not because he didn't kill an innocent man. fuck.#how dare you mock me like this - and this goes for both now#am's speech is not enough i need to kill#(btw i'm not joking about the flow. there's a version of the nfcv scene that completely cuts this exchange for reasons i don't understand)#(the dialogue flows much better because it focuses on the subject that is carmilla's insanity)#(so now that 'you were having fun' feels even more mocking because the dialogue was interrupted for the sake of random rape apologism)#(remind me why these products are so beloved?)
Had an ADHD assessment a few years ago and the fuckwit that assessed me said, as a direct quote, "You're too smart to have ADHD." Like that's not any type of paraphrasing, that stupid fucking statement is burned in my brain forever and has been since I heard it.
I talked to my psychiatrist about getting a referral to a different psychologist for assessment, and she agreed and sent it in.
Today I got a call that said they don't agree that I need reassessment, and I'm welcome to pursue it elsewhere, but they won't provide reassessment. Which is just.
I don't even know where to start with that one. I just needed to get it out. I'm so tired.
#'we really dont think youre adhd so were not even going to let you pay to check again'#WHAT#thats an option?#they can just say that they really dont think its a problem for me so they wont waste their time?#the first fuckwit that assessed me said im too fucking smart to have adhd!!#thats not a fucking compliment and every professional ive spoken to since then has said 'yesh thats not right tey for reassessment'#i just had to write this down because#this morning i was showering before work and they called me and left a message#so i checked the message right before work cuz i saw it was them and i assumed they wanted to set up the reassessment#because i got a referral. but theur message literally just said that bullshit#and because it was right before work i had to pack that away#because trying to deal with that in addition to a shift at fucking mcdonalds wouldve killed me#but because i set it aside i just keep forgetting about it. so i needed to write this down to remind myself#that this is my life and this is the bullshit i get to deal with in this life#im so tired. i dont even know what to say here. what to think or anything#'youre too smart to have adhd. we're so sure of that that we're not gonna check again. waste someone else's time. bye!'#i wish the world worked the way healthcare 'professionals' think it works#what a beautiful world it would be. you could lose weight just by trying and when you lose weight all of your health problems disappear!#you cant have any mental health problems if you are smart or seem kinda normal or are a woman#i am resisting the urge to. i don't even know. i want to do something angry and destructive but i don't even care#at least now i dont have to drive two hours and pay $160 just to be told that i am too smart to have problems#and actually all of my problems are due to my anxiety and the fact that im female#god i wish that was the case. ill go on t if it makes my problems valid. would you like that?#what do i have to do to convince people i have problems? i will fully physically transition to be taken more seriously#would that help?? would that fucking help???????????????#anyway. i was about to say i wish i wasnt mentally ill. but i dont#being mentally ill is chill. its like a roommate that lives up there and weve lived together awhile so its chill#the only problem are the idiots they pay to deal with mental illness. at this point i dont think they have qualifications#theyre just bringing in men off the street. and theyre the real problem. goodnight folks#dont have the audacity to be mentally ill in this economy. its not worth it
