the situation that leads to megan (that kid that the governor tries to adopt/replace his daughter with/use as an excuse to reinstate his murderer license) dying is so unthinkable. Her and her mom are hanging back, alone. her mom isn’t really that capable of handling walkers so they really shouldn’t have been out in the open, but whatever. the thing though is that the mom is sitting up on the rv like 150 feet away from where megan is playing nonchalantly. girl why were you Keeping Watch when your extremely killable daughter is just out there on the frontlines with her back to the treeline, twice as far as you’d even be capable of shooting anything from. it’s not even anything that comes out of the trees but that’s just basic stuff to think about regardless. you really cannot blame the walker for going for it

when i was 9 i was banned from editing the muscovy duck wikipedia page because i kept editing any mention of the flavor of their meat to say things like “they taste like dirty dishwater” because i had pet muscovy ducks and couldn’t bear the thought of them being eaten, so i tried to run a smear campaign on duck meat

Actually crazy they’d write carol to mention shane of all things as some comparison to what she did with the two sick people. in the year of our lord season 4 episode 4 you are bringing up shane. as if killing a guy in self defense is in any way comparable to murdering two helpless innocent people as just a precautionary measure. i think the entire carol leaving plotline is masterful overall and like so good and unique as a story point but that one little exchange is mind numbing in terms of like. I just don’t think she’d say that. there’s a fewww other minute to minute lines like that but that one’s the worst

my thesis on people is that if we were crabs in a bucket there would be bad actors for sure but someone would be bolstered to the top and turn around to offer their claw to pull up everyone else. and someone would stay at the bottom until the end bolstering other people up even if there would be no one left for them. not everyone but someone

i’m just saying wayne szalinski and by extension rick moranis himself has a much greater capacity for brutality than walter white ever did, he simply needs that little push across the bounds of morality that keep him chained to domestic life such as seeing an opportunity for cash and self-reliance, which may or may not involve using one of his inventions to make a huge meth crystal that he sells for one bajillion dollars

i think it’s cool the way hershel carries his gun hanging over his front, because that’s the way he’d need to have it while he was on crutches. he wouldn’t be able to draw it with any urgency if it was on either side of his hips. and even when he’s on his prosthetic, he continues wearing it like that likely because it’s what he’s most practiced with by that point. i don’t think he ever actually draws it on screen so i think it’s just a neat bit of attention to detail

things that the walking dead (and zombie media in general) have to pretend doesn’t exist/can’t work/ doesn’t mention/avoids at all costs because if they didn’t, it would negate a lot of problems (not uhm actualying 🤓 i’m just pointing out things i like analyzing :3):
chainlink fences are genuinely not really possible to push down with human strength and in fact are often designed with the express intent of resisting a massed effort to do so (in the case of the prison fences) so while not invulnerable, they are by no means a meager defense against even an extreme number of zombies
reaching an island would be basically the best solution possible for achieving safety since even if it has zombies on it, its a finite space that can be cleared eventually and then it’s good forever. characters will often mention this but it’s almost always immediately scoffed off as a pipe dream that can’t even be pursued and not talked about again (bc it’s too good. it’d be boring.)
the overall effectiveness of things like bite sleeves or even just tough work clothing, not even actual armor but just thick materials, that would prevent the majority of lethal bites. the crushing force could still hurt you depending on where you get caught, but it wouldn’t break the skin or get infected. it wouldn’t help if you were being torn apart by a dozen of them but against any one of them, it would massively lower the risk if one grabs you
like islands, mountains are also a really safe bet if they’re steep enough since you could seal off roads that lead up to create a safety bubble, and generally have a better idea of where any could be coming from since they can’t climb. the very first camp in season 1 is on a mountain and it gets run over once and as far as i remember they never even try it again
finding functional and even gassed up cars would not be hard even years into the apocalypse. there’d be millions sitting in driveways and on main roads and all throughout towns, all for the taking basically anywhere you’d need one
same thing with guns and bullets. especially in america, in GEORGIA for crying out loud, there would be tens of thousands of these to find in any given place. more than anyone could realistically scavenge or hoard
the effectiveness of leading and drawing out zombies with sound or bait is not used as much as you might think because it’s too smart and negates basically all tension of exploring an abandoned area because it’s not interesting if the characters just get rid of the danger beforehand. even if people in any real life situation would absolutely want to do that

they make such a big stink of the person carl kills for the first time and it’s not entirely unjustified but it’s also like one of the only times in the entire show that a character actually makes a correct and timely call in a self defense situation like that. that guy was asked to do something very simple, drop the gun, and instead he continues to hold it and tries to close the distance. like that’s pretty textbook everything about how to Not surrender and carl’s reaction is the only sensible choice. anything else would’ve gotten him grabbed, disarmed, held hostage, or any combination of getting himself beth or hershel killed in the moment. Also carl should be able to kill anyone he wants because his hat is freaking awesome

if you’re insane enough one could make a theory that grieving rick is seeing and speaking to ghosts in what are (to him at least) fairly material ways because he’s seen whatever other side there is and has some latent connection there. not in a fully literal sense probably but in a like, well if there is something going on then why not why are you looking at me like that. stop that

everything with rick having his egg cracked even more than usual for most of the season makes up tenfold for any writing misstep i think
actually i take back what i said about season 3 technically because i slightly misremembered it as containing the entire governor plot up until his death. i forgot that that actually bleeds mostly into season 4. the season 4 half of it is what falters for me, the first half is pretty alright all things considered and s3 is really insane for some the best character moments in the entire span SO. i’m actually the asshole here
