Seawing head-cannon design!

they are usually very short. chubby and stream lined so they are built to swim. seawings actually can't lift their heads up very far upward because of their build. their wings are inspired by flying fish!

i gave them axolotl-like frills too instead of gills on their neck, as it just makes sense more, allowing them to breath in and out of water, but depending on hydration. :>

i kind of imagine them being low fliers with their tails dragging heavily, but swimming with them kind of like a ray?

I think that this was around the point when I decided to stylize the dragons instead of trying to draw them as book accurate as possible

I'm glad I dropped trying to be as accurate as possible, I like where my style went and what its become

The canon icewing, you know him.

Yak/Deer-like white-brown. In this form, the icewings are very massive, with forward-curved horns and without many spikes, and most importantly, they feed mainly on plants and live in forests. Here I wanted to try to give them realism in surviving in arctic conditions. This is not wool, but long feathers (reptiles cannot have wool, it seems) that help to retain heat (warm-blooded). With their horns, they help build houses or remove obstacles, and of course, defend themselves. They do not have wings, I think it would not be very cool for them to fly in such cold, especially between trees. They do not breathe ice.

Narwhal-like. They have no scales (instead thick skin) and horns, but have long, elongated wings, a dorsal ridge and a horn on the nose. They spend a lot of time near/in the water, and feed mainly on fish. The wings help to instantly attack fish, and the horn helps in defense. The colors are mainly dark, with a white belly, the legs are short with webs. They do not breathe ice.

Classic #1. Combines +- classic features of the idea of ​​​​ice dragon - "frozen" horns and a ridge, resembling icicles, can spew an icy, freezing "ray".

Classic #2. Here he lives by the will of fantasy, because he is completely made of ice, as are the wings. Horns and ridge - icicles. Breathes "icy" fire. Even though its existence is illogical, I like this look, it shines beautifully and shimmers like real ice)

ICEWING HOCKEY!!

Concept art of thee talon blades, then some art of the full gear! they have leg guards, chest guards, and helmets

They use their tails to hit the puck across ice, and the can shield themselves with their wings or armor if the puck goes airborne

They are not allowed to fly or use their frostbreath, and all four talons have blades to ensure they dont grab other players

The whole point of hockey was originally to train soldiers to use their tail to strike others more, and to train their running muscles in case their wings are bound or in case they cannot use their frostbreath, but it has evolved into a sport for fun!

This also means Wings Of Fire tribes ofc, and because I'm a yapper, I'll just talk about the design for a bit.

Odysseus is a sandwing because of course he is, their dark eyes make for great menacing charachters and their colours are just nice to look at! He also looks a lot like a rattlesnake, but I tried to sprinkle in a bit of that antique greek vase look.

Both sandwings and rattlesnakes are kind of 'known' for cunning and trickery, possibly even a bit of arrogance. I'd say both fit him quite decently

FINALLY FINISHED THIS THING HECK YEA The third of the greek gods from EPIC as Wings of Fire dragons!! Obviously I had to go with Skywing for the Sky God himself, the Thunder Bringer, Panhellenos, ZEUS.  I think this is the one I love the most so far!! The thunderclouds are really great and his pose is really impressive.  ... I did not intend on making him hot. But I think I ended up making him hot.

morrowseer would gamble his life away in slot machines if they were in wings of fire. there’s just something about his stupid, beady eyes that call for the blinding, colorful lights of a device meant to overstimulate you with fleeting, yet addicting highs. i bet he’d spam-click that roll button to get an 80+ rpm (rolls per minute) average to streamline his gambling sessions, maybe even ordering some of his troops to alternate shifts with him when he gets tired. anything to reach that jackpot, right? it’s only a matter of time before that lizard hits big.

unfortunately, his name was never jackpotseer to begin with; it was a fruitless endeavor from the start. but he will never be smart enough to realize that truth. he’ll rot away, hunched over on an undersized stool, as he repeatedly slams the roll button down, gambling more than he’s worth with each press.

what’s the point of a prophet that sees ‘morrow when one’s future has already been assured?

a diva is a female version of a hustler

divinity is a hardworking, no-nonsense rainwing living in the city of possibility. he moved there when he was young, wanting something bigger and better than his small rainforest hometown. now 26 years old, he’s made quite a name for himself.

today, divinity lives a glamorous, rich life as a couturier, designing fashion and fitting it to dragons��� specific measurements. dragons come from near and afar for the chance to buy one of divinity’s highly coveted pieces.

he is vivacious and prideful, prioritizing success above all else. he’s a perfectionist and pours his heart into his art, becoming consumed by it until he’s satisfied. he often has a difficult time relaxing and separating his personal life from his work life, which causes him immense stress. he spends many sleepless nights tirelessly pinning and sewing. it’s all worth it in the end, though, because he’s doing what he loves. he adores the busy, flashy life he lives.

Here's some new info shared today by Tui at the Enoch Pratt Library event!

Tui said that there's a Wings of Fire "Bible" her editor made to help keep track of the history and world in WoF

Tui says there will be a prophecy for Arc 4 but it hasn't been written yet

Tui says that when she received art for the Darkstalker Graphic Novel, she started "getting traumatized by what she wrote" so she says the art will be getting dialed down a tiny bit

Tui mentioned the Wings of Fire Wiki and says she uses it a lot, saying she had to use it to study for a WoF trivia competition

Tui says she hasn't figured out POVs for Books 17-20 yet and says she needs to figure out a love interest for the POV of Book 16

Tui says she will read a bit of Book 16 at the upcoming FanWing Fest

Book 16 will be released in 2026 and says it'll be releasing shortly after the Talons of Power Graphic Novel

This may have already been shared by Tui in the past, but Tui says that the Dragonets of Destiny's cave was based off a glowworm cave in New Zealand

Despite previous claims by Tui, Tui now says there likely won't be new covers for upcoming special editions of books 2-5

There will be a MudWing main character in Arc 4

Progress on the Wings of Fire TV Show has been delayed due to the fires in LA. Tui says she'll be auctioning off books to help with charity

Things have been a lot so ive been sketching ideas for tribe redesigns. I call this my "fuck it we ball" designs, less regard for canon than my normal dragons. Very inspired by the Dragonology book for these ones. We'll see where it goes.
