The way Sol is mourning with Osha for her coven. Oh my God. My heart. Master Sol, you’re my favorite, I love you. You’re the best Jedi Dad I’ve ever seen. Qui-Gon wishes my man.

I watched the two first episodes of 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓐𝓬𝓸𝓵𝔂𝓽𝓮 and I got thoughts:
Tumblr media
SPOILERS BELOW
First of all I just would like to say that most of the negative reviews that I saw where pretty thrown around just beacuse haters can’t help themself. So I don’t think this is the “worst sw product ever1!1!”, but I do got some (constructive) criticism myself and I want to express MY opinions (I am allowed to have and share them).
Let’s start with the positive aspects of this show
Fighting scenes and choreographies:
I was really impressed by the actions sequences. I’m glad that at least in this aspect Star Wars (after whatever happened in the sequels) is putting more effort in creating more impressive fighting scenes, but in the specific lightsaber fights!
Even if, yes, the lightsabers haven’t been used as much as I hoped, I still found this fighting style really mesmerizing. Now I’m not a martial art expert, so I won’t comment on that, but I just want to say that I do find this style way more appropriate than actually using a lightsaber all the time. It just makes sense for a Jedi of that time to minimize their usage of their weapon. They are at a high point of history, there is no war, just (apparent) peace.
I was afraid that the jumps would weird me out, but I gotta say that I liked them!!
How they showcased the temple and the characterization of the Jedi:
First thing first: ANOTHER LIVE ACTION TEMPLE OTHER THAN THE ONE IN THE CAPITAL???? Miracle!!! (Even if the interior design was questionable but I think they are just very isolated jedis and that’s their style? Idk man, there was literal sand in a corner tho??)
I appreciated how they showed Jedis as humans.
Sol is a jedi at heart yes, he is clearly suffering at the idea of his former padwan in such position, but he stays focused. Also I do get the comparison with Qui Gon, especially at the end of episode 2 when he tries to stick to the hunt, going against the council decision, but he still follows their leading in the end. But anyway, do not attack my new Star Wars father figure‼️
Tumblr media
Yord also has his heart in the right place, I’m sure of it, he just wishes to help, but it’s clear that in this desperate search for perfection (brotha quoted the code by memory and was ironing his clothes for AN OUTSIDE MISSION💀 ) he might be losing what being a Jedi actually means. He always being the one to reach his lightsaber first :(( I’m really interested in seeing his development!
Jecki my smart girl, please humble Yord more often, that was the funniest part in the two episodes. I just want to say that her being 18 and going on her FIRST mission is so special and heartbreaking for me, just think the comparison with Ahsoka becoming a soldier at 14.
I also really liked the fact that the two Jedis killed got killed by their own compassion. Perfect.
Osha character:
Maybe it’s obvious, maybe not, but IN MY OPINION (so far) she is the best written character of the whole show (this actually comes from a critic that I have about the writing of the show, but it’s not the case for this character!)
Tumblr media
Maybe it’s also that she is genuinely so sweet for me, I DONT KNOW I GET THIS VIBE FROM HER OKAY?? But she is the character I enjoyed the most in those first two episodes.
It’s just that I feel like we got to see only one side of the other characters, while with Osha she already feels like a well rounded character. We see her in various situations, in various states of mind, from the fear and then the calm of meeting her former master, to being taken by the negative feelings, the rage, she still preserves from her past. It was a great spectrum.
Also she was standing way more out as her own character than any one else in the show (see writing criticism below) and I liked that.
The actress was often carrying the show when put side to side with the other characters. (I’m under the impression that not everyone was giving their best performance tbh…but Amandla Stenberg was great!)
Really interested to see how the whole trauma/I just found my presumed dead twin alive/the Jedis I left are back thing will play out of her.
Also shoutout to Star Wars for continuing the tradition of the main character with a new cute droid. Gotta be one of my favourite tropes 🙏
Tumblr media
Love this duo<333
In between opinions
I’m not going to comment on the plot YET, I find that it’s too early, but I was surprised by the decision of reveling the twin plot right away?
I was expecting it to be one the main thing that they would dance around for the whole series, but maybe I was under the wrong impression. It’s just that it felt rushed. But that’s a problem that comes down the fact that those episodes are TOO SHORT!!
I wasn’t also pleased by the fact that MASTER Indara died with that tiny knife in her chest. Like okay, maybe it was directly through the heart, but still: it doesn’t feel justified. Star Wars needs to decide a common trajectory, we can have people that survive a light saber in their stomach and others that die from far less concerning attacks. Also Osha surviving a terrible crash without a scratch?? Uhm.
Fire in space, gotta be my favorite mistake in space fiction products🙏 (I know that math and physics ain’t USA favorite subjects but cmonnnnnn, even Star Trek did this and uh😭😭). But anyway, I wouldn’t count it as this big mistake that everyone is freaking out about, because again, it’s common (somehow), and also was need for the trauma moment. 👍
Tumblr media
But…25 MILIONS for episode, 12’500$ PER SECOND. We could have done better uh🧍‍♀️
And on this last bitter tone…
Negative aspects (it was bound to happen sorry)
The writing:
I have two main bones to pick at:
The quality of the lines,
Every character (besides Osha) is missing a speech pattern, some characterization…
I personally found the their speech to be not as cured as I was hoping for a show that had 4 years of development.
“Attach me with all of your strength” I literally heard in my head: 🦗🦗🦗
Tumblr media
Sorry but some of Mae lines especially weren’t it (kinda funny when I actually enjoyed Osha’s)
Also yes, the characters were missing characterization through the dialogue, which is pretty crucial when you are showcasing brand the characters that no one knows. I just wished they weren’t so flat in that aspect.
I especially had a weird feeling with Sol, I do like him, but some of the lines weren’t it. I think it was also a bit the delivery, but I don’t want to attack the actor.
I wish their words were more expressive. Painted by their personality.
The poem was okay, this one ⬇️
Tumblr media
I found it cute, but nothing too crazy
(Also side note that I don’t know where to put: the little twin looked like the Snapchat baby filter. Idk you can’t change my mind😭)
Also the pace of the storytelling per se: it felt rushed but at the same time slow, because I’m sorry but the delivering was a tad boring. I was expecting more.
To sum up: I was expecting more (I’ll say this till the end 180M budget) from the writing 🧍‍♀️
Costumes:
Before you all attack me: I did liked them, but with that budget I was expecting more. Let me explain
I really liked that they changed clothes when they went outside, leaving the white and yellow for the more ceremonials acts (like studying) for then changing for the outside. I loved that touch. In particular Yord attire in his first scenes was so good
Tumblr media
I like their outfit so much (I hope the dope Padawan returns btw🧎‍♀️)
But, because there is a but, there is something weird about their clothings.
Now, I know that I am a prequels apologist and all, but you see how well clothes fit there:
Tumblr media
They look realistic here, garments that have been actually worn
Tumblr media
It’s just that their clothes look like they are sitting on them (have you in mind when people say “oh this foundation is sitting on my face” yeah in that sense, in the sense that doesn’t melt well)
NOOO IVE FINISHED THE GIFS LIMIT. TUMBLR UGH- (no more cool gifs guys😔)
It’s not a huge problem, but I wanted to say it regardless.
The set and lighting:
It’s just that for that type of budget and for that amount of time I was expecting some cinematic level of show. Maybe my bad (again), but the set looked often plastic and the lighting wasn’t really helping either.
Some scenes were well done: the ones in the Coruscant temple, the shore and in the bar/restaurant at the beginning were well done.
But especially the set in the second episode did not impress me at all.
Final thoughts:
Thanks Star Wars for making BTS canon🙏🙏 (THE TATTOO TOOK ME OUT OK?)
It’s hard to judge on just those two episodes, I feel like they haven’t told much, but for now I can only say that I will keep watching, without expecting too much (even if I should given the cost of the show).
I was interested in this project because I was excited to see the high republic in live action, but I don’t think this show will portray the typical high republic type of Jedis, something in between. I just hope that for once they will treat the jedi nicely because they can’t ever take a break in this franchise uh😭
Also I got a question…because if the Sith have been extinct for a millennium, according to the Jedi in the movies, by the time of the phantom menace…how will all of this play out??
Will they all die and the Jedis will just hide the evidence? But what about Yoda (or Yaddle)? Okay that he is chilling away but doesn’t make much sense…anyway I think I’ll have my answer by the end of the show.
Overall vote: 6/10 (a tad more than sufficient, I’m not feeling generous tonight🧍‍♀️)
It’s not a bad show, absolutely, I was just expecting more. It still has time to redeem itself!

🏳️‍🌈 Queer Pedro Character HCs🏳️‍🌈
Cause I’ve seen sm ppl worried about HC his characters as LGBT+, and I’ve seen sm others be mad about it. So of course I’m rubbing my grubby gay hands all over them.
Javier Peña
Bi(? He has no fucking clue tbh with you)
Def prefers women, but won’t deny (to himself at least, it is the 80s) that sm guys around the embassy have great asses.
He’s an ass man, there are a bunch of shots of him looking at women as they walk by and his eyes are obviously trailing down
Never really considered getting with a guy until he moved out to Columbia.
One male secretary/file clerk, a few too many late nights, BAM! Now he’s getting blowies in the supply closet on the semi-reg.
Eventually curiosity (and the feeling that he’s being a bit of an ass, never really getting the other guy off.) makes him broaden his horizons.
Din Djarin
Ace (is the place with the helpful hardware folks)
Doesn’t really know it’s an option
Just figures that, since he’s like the only one who can leave the Covert, then being hunted by the guild, then looking for Jedi he’s got a lot on his plate! So he thinks it’s just stress blunting his hypothetical libido.
Usually quite neutral regarding sex, it’s a thing ppl do, so what? But has been thankful for the canvas of his flightsuit and the thick armor of his Beskar
Xi’an makes him uncomfortable, they never had any sort of relationship, she just wanted to push his buttons and when there was no obvious reaction, she kept trying to up the ante.
Isn’t looking for romance but open to the possibility, his biggest worry is that he won’t be enough
@scribbledghost has a sweet Ace!Din fic and you should read it
Also very little concept of gender roles, you’d have basically non either if you grew up surrounded by ppl in armor who cared more about number of people you could lay flat like a picnic blanket
“Is that a blaster in your pocket, or are you happy to see me?”
*Din pulls out a gun*: it’s a blaster
Pero Tovar
Genuine affection means a lot more to him then he thinks.
Demisexual feels close but not right(? You know what I mean? Like it’s just a lil off, like horseshoes)
Never factored actual care into his plans for the future, he was fully prepared to live the rest of his days fat with a rotating selection of prostitutes coming and going from his lap.
He’s got low self esteem under all that crusty grime and dirt. He didn’t factor actual affection in because he didn’t think he could have it. He’d always assumed he’d just be tolerated.
Had feelings for William for a while, freaked out about that.
Jack “Whiskey” Daniels
BI! No I will not be taking questions or criticisms at this time.
Married his high school sweetheart, so he doesn’t rlly consider that he might not be straight until after he joins Statesmen.
It initially leaves him a bit off kilter, cause he’s lived his whole life thinking that’s just what everyone was like?
itty bit of internalized homophobia, but deals with it with his THERAPIST!!! (I refuse to believe an organization that has ppl killing in close quarters on the semi-reg doesn’t have mandatory therapy sessions)
Unfortunately(? Depends on your perspective) his first time with another man was for work. Security for a tech firm.
Messed him up a little, cause the guy was real nice all things considered. And trying new things, especially with smth that can get as intimate as sex? (Whiskey is a romantic at heart, I’ll fight you on this) leaves you vulnerable in ways you might not realize until after the fact.
If that guy suddenly got a much better job offer about a week after he hooked up with the slightly nervous older guy with the whole cowboy thing going on? Well those two things aren’t connected in the slightest.
Oberyn Martell
The man, the myth, the legend
The bisexual menace who’s one of the handful of men in GoT with any rights!
He doesn’t care what’s in your pants or under your skirts, he’s here to have a good time!
Look, I saw a gif of when he spanked that male prostitute before he got kicked out and it lives in my head rent free
So does that gif where he’s kissing Ellaria shirtless with her on top and tries chasing her with his mouth, you know the one.
@absurdthirst had him say “I mount a man properly.” In one of her fics and I have not known peace since.
Ezra
Bisexual Menace 2: Electric Boogaloo
@max--phillips said he’s trans, and you know what? They’re right.
Of the longer relationships he’s been in, most of them were with men.
Now yes sm of this has to do with the prospecting and the general demographic of the sort of people willing to skirt the edge of the known (barely) habitable galaxy for money.
But… maybe it’s his vernacular, maybe it’s his grandiose dreams for the future that are based on long strings of contingencies that are so detailed they seem within reach. Or maybe it’s because many of the women he’s gotten with are just looking for smth exciting, not lasting. Those always seem to end in arguments, shouting matches interspersed with the sound of smth breaking.
Those either end in him immediately getting kicked out, or sm very ill advised angry sex. Either way he and his meager belongings (and likely a few of hers) are gone by morning.
He sees himself settling down with a man, maybe a bit younger, or maybe he just looks younger from a life with much softer work. A place with clean air, blooming plants everywhere (not a lot of green, too much of that makes his arm throb and chest ache) a room filled wall to wall with books, and maybe an apiary.
Dieter Bravo
HOE!!!
He’s an actor, you think he hasn’t kissed a guy before? I defy you and that assumption.
Can suck the soul right outta your dick, no one believes it though, he seems too selfish
He’s a queer and he’s a slut, not a slut because he’s queer.
Sleeps around with just as many men as he does women, but the tabloids never talk about those fr sm reason 🤔

My problem with criticizing a character’s choices and saying oh that person could’ve should’ve done this is that Star Wars literally goes out of it’s way to showcase why Anakin doesn’t do the right thing and kill Palpatine, at least until Return of the Jedi.
I mean yeah Anakin should’ve killed Palpatine, that’s a no-brainer right? I mean had he done that he would’ve probably been arrested for treason for killing the Chancellor with the Jedi only vouching for him that he was a Sith Lord only for the wider galaxy to not give a fuck because nobody knows what a Sith Lord was.
Anakin’s greatest sin tbh was letting Mace Windu die... though considering their relationship and how desperate he was to save Padme I don’t blame. But I agree the moment he does nothing and just WATCHES Palpatine throw lightning at Mace when he falls out of the window is when Anakin is being selfish, he’s not thinking about right and wrong, he just wants his wife and children to live. Which is something to sympathise but also makes you go nooo Palpatine is a fucking liar wth.
Idk maybe Lucas isn’t a good writer. I personally don’t think he is but the theme of Anakin’s story is that his entire life, all he’s been was a slave. At least in his mind, if you want to argue otherwise. His story is basically him trying to gain autonomy, trying to gain agency on his own because he doesn’t know how. He doesn’t have the luxury to know what freedom of choice is because he’s been born and raised to think of himself as a tool, as a slave.
That’s who he is. And it’s something that often gets glossed over because Lucas didn’t do a good job showcasing that connection.
I don’t know what it’s like to be a slave, to experience slave trafficking. I don’t know what it’s like to experience physical abuse or to be demeaned and looked down on. I don’t know what it’s like to leave my mother living in those conditions and to never see her again only when I do I see that my nightmares of her torture had come to life. I don’t know what it’s like to be targeted by a predator and to be groomed without realizing it. To live with fear because most of the people I know are gone and I will never see them again or to live in war.
What I’m saying is far be it for me to go ahead and blame a person for a choice they made, a bad one, when it seems a lot like they got a whole stack against them and no support whatsoever.
That’s really where the criticism on the Jedi. They didn’t support Anakin. They didn’t trust Anakin. Yes, they took him in but it was reluctantly and there was a slight fear due to the darkness that lied in his future. They didn’t understand him and expected him to adapt to the culture of the Jedi because he was supposed to. They expected him to be the Chosen One (and they were doubting it as well), the perfect Jedi, this being who would bring balance to the Force and possibly peace and that is an impossible thing to live up to for ANY Jedi much less someone whose got a different background then the normal Jedi and struggles adapting because of that.
Then of course you have Padme and the other senators who come from a background of privilege. The main theme in the prequels is duty. To Padme, the Republic matters to her more than Anakin. She’s so busy thinking about the Republic, she couldn’t see right in front of her that he husband was about to blow up with how he kept being paranoid about her death. Padme would frankly make the perfect Jedi because like the Jedi the continued existence of the Republic matters more to her than the truth that the Republic has failed a lot of people and that it’s become deficient due to the corruption that has infected it.
Anyway nobody’s blaming Anakin’s decision onto anyone. Ultimately Anakin’s decision is his own but we can sympathise and pity why he came to the point he did because really there was no other way (at least I think) that he would’ve chosen. To think so I believe is unrealistic and unsympathetic to anyone who's experienced abuse and trauma and still suffers it. Palpatine took advantage of Anakin and ultimately (unless someone was there to save the guy and pull him into his senses) caved. After all, Palpatine has been manipulating him since he was 9 year old... and that where I kind of question if someone dealing with their abuser really have agency especially when said abuser is hitting all the hotspots of what that person fears the most and is isolating them from everyone they love?

Ok as much as I hate the events of the Rako Hardeen arc in Clone Wars and deeply wish that the council/Obi-Wan had at the very least told Anakin and Ahsoka what they were planning, I feel like the arc represents a very important turning point in Anakin’s fall and actually shows an important bit of character growth from Attack of the Clones.
Tl;Dr: The Rako Hardeen arc is my favorite and least favorite arc in all of Clone Wars because while it puts Anakin through unnecessary pain it also gives a lot of insight into why he may have fallen in Revenge of the Sith and shows some important character growth
Ok; the most important part of this post/analysis (I think) is to remember how close Anakin and Obi-Wan are. Anakin was placed in Obi-Wan’s care at the age of 9 and from then on Obi-Wan practically raised him. In Attack of the Clones we see Anakin refer to Obi-Wan as the closest thing he has to a father not once, but twice, and one of those two times was directly to Obi-Wan.”OBI-WAN:  Why do I think you are going to be the death of me?! ANAKIN:  Don't say that Master... You're the closest thing I have to a father... I love you. I don't want to cause you pain.”(Attack of the Clones) and later to Padmé “...He's [Obi-Wan] like my father,...”. This is especially important because when Anakin leaves his mother to become a Jedi in The Phantom Menace, Obi-Wan is literally the only friendly/familiar face in the Temple. Plus in the comics (disclaimer: I have not read all the comics just bits and pieces) we get a glimpse of Anakin training with the other padawans and it’s made clear that at least some of them don’t like Anakin at all. One padawan even refers to him as “just a slave” when shit talking him during training.(which like super fucked up; they def should’ve gotten in trouble cause that don’t seem very Jedi of them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
Anyway; we’ve established Anakin and Obi-Wan’s bond. So let’s turn our attention towards someone who deserved so much better; Shmi Skywalker. Her death in Attack of the Clones was the first major turning point in Anakin’s fall to the Dark Side. There is really no excuse for Anakin’s actions after Shmi’s death; he goes to a very dark place, and likely taps into the dark side of the force during the massacre of the Tusken Raiders. But that’s not what we’re talking about rn so back on track.
I bring Shmi’s death up to say that while Anakin was tracking down Obi-Wan’s “murderer” I didn’t fully realize that Obi-Wan had disguised himself as Hardeen and I was genuinely worried that Anakin was about to unalive an innocent man. I really believe that the only thing that stopped Anakin from trying (and maybe succeeding) to kill Obi/Rako was like he said: he knew that Obi-Wan wouldn’t have wanted him to. This is important because the last time Anakin lost a family member he brutally murdered an entire village of Tusken Raiders, children included, and I think it’s safe to say that Shmi “the biggest problem in the universe is nobody helps each other” Skywalker would not have wanted that. I’ve finally arrived at one of my main points; this arc shows a crucial bit of character growth by showing an Anakin that is capable of thinking his actions through and not just reacting out of anger even after the loss of one of the most important people in his life; something he was previously shown incapable of when his anger and grief blind him. This turns this arc into an sort of midway point on Anakin’s fall; he’s clearly tempted to give into his anger and pain again, but he is able to resist this time. A younger Anakin may have killed “Hardeen” then and there.
This scene really contrasts with Anakin’s actions in Revenge of the Sith in a way im not sure how i feel about yet. On one hand it has potential to make Anakin’s actions in Revenge of the Sith feel too out of character. We just saw Anakin able to see past his own emotions in the wake of the death of a loved one so what makes this different? On the other hand this arc can be used to show just how desperate Anakin is to not have to feel that way ever again. It’s also good for showing how much influence Palpatine has had on Anakin in the space between this arc and Revenge of the Sith. As for why Anakin may be unable to think past his own feelings in Revenge of the Sith when he appeared perfectly capable in the arc, a likely reason is that there really wasn't anything Anakin thought he could do for Obi-Wan anymore because he believed him to be dead, but with Padmé, Anakin knew she could be saved if he could just get her the proper care. But his fear of being exiled from the Jedi Order, and his increasing lack of faith in the council led him to believe that he had no choice other than to trust in Palpatine. And no hate to Yoda but im sure when Anakin did try to reach out (even as vaguely as he did) Yoda’s response of “Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.” didn't appear to be very helpful (especially considering that he is well aware that listening to Ahsoka’s visions and responding appropriately saved Padmé’s life (not sure if Anakin knows about that though)). These three episodes show pretty well how/why Anakin may have felt that he had nowhere to turn but Palpatine.
These groups of episodes actually show negative character growth (is that the right term?) in Anakin. He goes from commiting mass murder rated E for everyone to understanding that his loved ones would not want him to seek revenge in this way, but then he backslides into this lightsaber is rated E for everyone by Revenge of the Sith. Logically he should know that Padmé would never have wanted him to do what he did; he has to know what he’s doing is wrong, but he’s incapable of seeing another way out because he cannot handle even the thought of losing Padmé. He’s too desperate to not lose her, and so sure that there’s no other option that he manages to convince himself that he needs to do this for her. I find this entire arc really interesting but unless i want to be here all day the most i can do here is point out that it exists and that it peaks in the Rako Hardeen arc. Surprisingly i do have a life outside of writing long posts, and i lack the time and energy to analyze all of Clone Wars and write about every event that led to Darth Vader (there are so many). On top of that i actually haven’t seen all of Clone Wars; just the episodes most important to understanding Anakin’s fall.
Onto my next point, we just talked about the growth Anakin showed in this episode; now onto why i believe that this arc was instrumental in Anakin’s fall. (Disclaimer: I do not think that removing this arc alone could have saved Anakin, but i do believe it would have helped a good bit). I’ve already touched on Anakin and Obi-Wan’s bond so im not gonna do that again.
Ive said it before and i will say it again; it was super fucked up of Obi-Wan and everyone else on the Council to use Anakin’s (and Ahsoka’s) reactions Obi-Wan’s “death” for their own gain. It was super manipulative and they absolutely knew what they were doing.  Obi-Wan even explicitly says, “Keeping Anakin on the outside was critical. Everyone knows how close we are. It was his reaction that sold the sniper. I'm sure of it.”(Deception season 2 episode 15). He knows just how devastated Anakin would be by his death, and he uses like Anakin and his mental and emotional well-being mean nothing to him (I know this isn’t true but its probably not hard to believe that someone doesn't care about your feelings when they’ve just tricked you into thinking they’ve died for their own gain). The Council really proves time and time again that they do not care about Anakin’s (or maybe anyone’s; Anakin was far from the only one close to Obi-Wan left unaware of his deception) mental or emotional wellbeing, but tbh i think this is the worst example of how callous the Council can be. And on top of all of that it was Obi-Wan who decided to keep Anakin in the dark Obi-Wan who should have known better; if we assume that Anakin is at least 20 in Clone Wars; Obi-Wan has known Anakin for at least 10 years, and has practically raised him from the age of 9, and yet somehow, somehow he had this idea and didn't see a single thing wrong with it. (And they really picked the worst possible person for this; like yea let’s trick the most unstable Jedi we have into thinking his closest friend/ father figure was murdered)
This arc’s main purpose (IMO) is to really show the beginnings of Anakin losing faith in the Jedi and putting more and more faith in Palpatine. Anakin trusted Obi-Wan, and Obi-Wan betrayed that trust. Beyond that Palpatine is able to make Anakin begin to doubt how much the Council is telling him if they didnt tell him something as crucial as this. We even see Anakin parroting Palpatine’s “concerns” of the council not telling Anakin the full truth the Obi-Wan and the end of the arc. This arc is instrumental is establishing Anakin’s loss of faith in the council and shows how much he trusts Palpatine and sees him as a real friend.
Anyway I’m sure I had more I wanted to touch onand if I remember I will definitely edit this post but for the now I just wanna say. A) I love Obi-Wan a lot; this arc just really was not it. I do not understand how he thought this was in any way acceptable but I do still really like him. B) i fully understand that Anakin’s actions are his own and he does take a share of the blame for his own fall.

Have you heard the news? Boba Fett gonna be in season 2!
listen I’m probably in the minority here but god I wish lucasfilms would stop adding big names to season 2
like I LOVE ahsoka. Oh god do I love ahsoka. I also love boba fett (tho sometimes I feel like he’s overhyped a bit). But at the same time, it’s almost like I love these characters so much that I don’t want them to all be in some giant crossover and take away from Mando’s story. GIVE AHSOKA HER OWN SHOW. And of course GRANTED THIS COULD JUST BE AN “o ye of little faith” MOMENT BUT STILL. I think disney has a really bad habit of trying to bring back dead characters to spark some nostalgia in old Star Wars fans and instead of it making the new content better, it just ruins the old content imo
I think the reason the mandalorian did so well with audiences is because it wasn’t trying to spark a sense of nostalgia. All the characters are brand new, they didn’t try to tie into old school storylines/established characters to springboard success from it. The connections to the universe were just broad enough—we went to Tattooine for nostalgia, we have baby yoda and the empire, just to periodically remind us what world and time period this is set in. The creators were fine with turning the camera away from the big names and saying hey look at this, this is also a story about a hero, but this is one that we’ve never told you before. Rogue One did the same thing, which is why it was so successful. Even The Last Jedi said fuck all these precedents, fuck everything you thought you knew about Star Wars, and while that movie was divisive among fans (as all Star Wars movies will be) it got very high reviews from critics.
all I’m saying is I feel like sometimes Disney execs see a piece of media doing really well with fans and instead of saying “alright guys let’s keep going in this direction because it seems like we got something good here” they immediately turn around and say “okay but who else is alive during this time period that fans really love? and if they’re not alive, do fans love them enough to be thrilled that we resurrected them and stuck them in this story? who can we put in here that’ll sell, regardless of the integrity of the storyline?” Idk I just. I really want them to be successful and to make a great season 2 but the more people they name drop to build hype, the more worried I get tbh. I don’t want this to turn into more palpatine fan service bullshit like they did for episode 9 y’know? Idk

32 37 40 for the Star Wars ask
32. Who would you cosplay as?
Tbh, I personally don’t care if the character isn’t the same gender as me. I’d most probably coslplay as Luke, although I’d love to cosplay as Leia too (I don’t think I could never pull off a Padmé look. Her costumes are too elaborate and pretty and I don’t think I’d do them justice lol)
37. Opinions on the Jedi?
Hold onto your seatbelts my fellow people because this is gonna get long lol
I don’t think the Jedi are properly discussed as they should be on this site because many fans look at the Jedi from a very black-and-white perspective and from an often biased lense. I actually love the Jedi and I love a lot about them like their culture, philosphy, temple, among other things. The Jedi are not these evil monsters that some paint them as. I don’t think whatever harm they might have brought upon was intentional on their part. They tried their best to be good people, they tried their best to be the peacekeepers they were raised to be. The Order had systematic flaws and thus, many Jedi became the victims of those flaws. The Jedi were as much of victims as everyone else and they didn’t deserve the genocide commited against them and the deliberate erasure of their culture from the Empire. I think the main issues stemmed from the Jedi Council, which although was filled with some serious issues, it still had good people. I’m talking about the Jedi from the Prequels standpoint, so that’s why I’m bringing up a lot of the points that are made in regards to the prequel era Jedi. I would have loved to see Luke SKywalker train the new generation of Jedi under his tutelage and how different his may have been from theirs, but we never got that thanks to the poisonous rat 🙄 Fortunately for us, Luke Skywalker did train a generation of Jedi in Legends about a decade after ROTJ and his was much better and had gotten rid off most of the flaws that kept the previous one from making progress in regards to philosphical ideas, code and other things. I like that the Jedi weren’t portrayed as perfect because then the rise of the Empire would have made no sense. You can’t have the rise of a militant evil sociopolitical regime without other flawed systems played a hand (regardless of whether it was intentional or not) in it. I wish we could have discourse about the Jedi without going at each others’s throats and not resorting to basic, baseless arguments that have been made a thousand times. In conclusion, I love the Jedi and they deserved better, but they also needed to improve because if I didn’t love the Jedi I wouldn’t be critical of them (and that’s only occasional). People who wanna focus solely on the positive aspects are fine by me, there’s nothing inherently wrong with wanting to analyze and look at your fave from a positive outlook, but once you start stripping away the flaws from them because you don’t wanna see them for who they are, then I wouldn’t call that genuine love, I would call that biased infatuation or worship. That takes the complexity, layers and humanity from them and I can’t have that. It’s a disservice to these characters that have been well-developed and thought out.
40. If you could make your own Star Wars trilogy/series, what would it be about?
The Old Republic era without a doubt. This is a era that hasn’t been explored in the current canon and it’s a shame it hasn’t been explored because there’s a lot of fascinating lore, culture and tradition from that era that needs to be expanded upon. I’d make a cinematic adaptation of either Knights of the Old Republic video game duology or the Old Republic PC game. The cinematic trailers of the SWTOR games are fantastic and have a lot of potential behind them in regards to visuals, character development and lore. Hell, I think I’d stick to making them animated because the animation of those trailers was fantastically done and looked too realistic to the point that it was creepy. My trilogy would focus on the rise of the Sith Empire with Darth Bane (one of the most important figures in Sith history) or Darth Revan and his apprentice Darth Malak as the villains, or I’d make Darth Traya or Darth Nihilus the villains as well because why not. I’m mainly focusing on the Sith cuz I’m a villain type of girl :P can’t help my fascination with villains. There was a lot of lore about the Old Republic in Legends, so I’d take a lot from there to make my trilogy or series. I’ve read rumors about Disney remaking the KOTOR games but I feel like they are gonna fuck them up and possibly even gender/racebend characters because Disney sure loves to do that quite a lot, so I have no faith that they’re gonna do the games any justice.

Oooh, for the fanfic writer ask: 24 and 48?
oh thank you for sending this to me!!!
ok ok
24. favorite scene you’ve ever written?
uhhhhh mmmmm hhhhmm? errrr ok the one that jumps to mind quickest is the scene in recipe for disaster, where Obi-Wan has realized Anakin is a successful chef and he's also realized Anakin wasn't lying when he accepted obi-wan's invitation to teach him how to cook in order to make fun of him but because he's just also a disaster, so they go into the kitchen and obi-wan literally just gets to be the biggest little shit in the entire world in an effort to get anakin to crack and admit he knows how to cook. that scene in the kitchen where it's mostly dialogue?? that was so fun to write tbh and it was my first attempt at like. humor in writing? so i love it yeah
48. three spoilers for (insert story title)
you didn't give me a story title and i have so many wips so i'm just gonna spread them out evenly and hope you've read the works they refer to!!!!
in time & tide, their first kiss is like really hot and heavy on the couch in obi-wan's quarters but then little ani gets home from star wars jedi school with his lil jedi backpack and obi-wan literally very much shoves big anakin off of him as soon as they hear the key code being put in it and anakin bangs his head really hard against the coffee table (caf table?) and little ani bursts in and is like omg what are you doing with my master? master, what is he doing here? and obi-wan is like oh um we were um sparring
in pretty bird and the henchman, the story i decided i would write before vow breaker in order to introduce new characters (2D ocs lmao lets be real) that need to be in vow break, Cody goes on vacation with his girlfriend and he comes back to the knowledge that he has been extremely missed by literally everyone. and he's like well yeah of course. but it's very surprising that anakin latches onto him the most because omg the stand-in driver was the worst, he didn't respond at all to anakin's very clever taunts and also he always drove the speed limit and he listened to smooth jazz in the car which is NOT good hype music??
in hold me fast and kill me quick, the chapter after the next chapter involves obi-wan going on a mission asap to get out of the Temple and away from The Newly Weds. but he's so distracted during his mission that he does get shot. perhaps even critically. and even though he should go back to the halls of healing immediately, his droid pilots his ship to the Coruscanti hospital because he doesn't want to see his soulmate and new husband.and he's there for days without the Temple (Qui-Gon and Anakin) knowing until hes ready to check out and while he's leaving he sees anakin there!!! is he stalking him?? how did he find out ??? but no he is Not. 😏😏

Have you read Queen’s Shadow? In that, it does show that Padmé advocated against slavery, for clone rights both during and after the war, and more. She also planned to go back to Tatooine to free Shmi herself but couldn’t (and sent Sabé in her stead). I actually really like this because it’s consistent with her caring nature but also it shows her fatal flaw of hubris. She wanted to be the one to save shmi and free the slaves but thought she was the best person to do it.
No, I haven’t read it and, tbh, after this I doubt I ever will. What a terrible, unnecessary retcon. Not only it doesn’t make sense compared to the Padmé we saw in the movies (you know, the one whose reaction to her beau’s slaughter of children was basically “shit happens”), it sanitizes the character.
Padmé was a great character not because she was a paragon of good, but because she was human. Despite her many qualities, she made very human mistakes. And that’s a good thing. It erases the idea that women have to perfect to be valued and respected. When you deny her mistakes to make her look better you are sending a terrible message to the audience. it’s the same message women still struggles every fucking day to overcome: that we are not allowed to be human, that we are not allowed to be flawed. That certain flaws are only acceptable in men.
She doesn’t need to be an abolitionist champion to be a good character or even a good person. We save expression here called ‘abraçar o mundo’ (hug the world), meaning you can’t ‘hug the world’ because it’s too much of a task for anyone. No one can’t do EVERYTHING all the time. We can’t manage it, that’s the truth. And Padmé, not being able to solve everything or being too overwhelmed by her daily life to focus on everyone’s problems, can still be a role model.
Look, when it comes to slavery, I’m one of Padmé’s (and the Jedi) biggest critic but that doesn’t mean I want a magical solution to the problem. I criticized the character, knowing full well that they HAD to make such mistakes for the plot to move forward, for the story to make sense. It’s kind of like saying Anakin didn’t really kill the tusken, that he was being mind controlled by Palpatine or something. Sure, it gets Anakin off the hook but contradicts everything we know about the character. It hurts me to see Anakin killing innocents but, terrible as it was, that HAD to happen.
I mean, I’m thinking about Padmé in AOTC and I’m really supposed to believe her reactions throughout the movie were the actions of abolitionist who desperately tried to save Shmi Skywalker from slavery? That she just watched as Anakin struggled with terrible nightmares without ever mentioning “hey I tried to save your mom”?  She went with Anakin to Watto and the Lars farm without saying anything? She went Shmi SKywalekr’s funeral without ever saying anything to her son? Not an “I once tried to save your mom”? Not even an I tried or an I’m sorry? Nope, I can’t buy that.  And something as big as that would have to be kind of information you put in your script. It simple too big not too, specially considering how it would affect Anakin, the main lead. Also, don't take the easy way out. Show us the character's journey, show how the character became so caring, show us how and when they learned. Not *tell* us that the character has always been like that, we just didn't know about it.
As for Padmé being a clone right’s advocate… oh boy. Are we talking about the same Padmé that had have someone spell it out to her for her to figure out how war affects the daily lives of the average citizens? Or the Padmé who was against buying more clones because it was affecting the economy? THAT Padmé is a clone right’s advocate….nope!
This brings us back to the whole “strong female character” issue. I know I’m repeating myself for the 100th time but a strong female character is not a perfect female character, it’s a human character. Someone who is as flawed as the rest of us, someone who can’t fix everything or someone who doesn’t even try to fix everything. Not perfect, not necessarily good, but definitely human. I love Padmé as much as I criticized her and you know that’s a lot. But my criticism comes from me realizing how human Padmé was, that she was deeply flawed and, by default, an interesting character to tear apart and overanalyze. It doesn’t come from me wanting to “fix” her, sanitize her story to fit her under a PERFECT label. I love Padmé as a whole (the good and the bad), as she was presented to me years ago so I need to change anything about her to fix her or make her better.
That’s why I could never support such extreme and unnecessary character makeover

Hello! Have you seen TROS yet? [Spoiler alert] I was really devastated by the ending - coming out the theater feeling upset and disappointed. Do you have any thoughts on it? Or maybe any plan to write fix-it fic? Thank you!
I am seeing it tomorrow. That said, I’ve read the plot summary, and no good execution can save that. So I was planning on posting this after I watched it with amendments made as I hope to enjoy it, but I’ll just post it now and amend this as necessary based on the film as I see it. (I still believe I will enjoy the film, even if I don’t think it’s a good film. I do think that. I really do... I hope.)
BASED ON THE PLOT SUMMARIES ALONE (grains of salt everywhere!):
I think it’s technically… messy writing at best and downright bad writing in other parts.* 10/10 it’s a blockuster-y, JJ Abrams-esque, (hopefully) fun, messy narrative movie that will be forgotten in 0.3 seconds.
Disclaimer before everyone comes after me: if you like it, AWESOME. If you think it’s good writing, great! Good writing and bad writing are inherently subjective; that said, there are general consensuses among literary studies about what constitutes bad and good writing. Hence, I’m relying on those consensuses when I call it messily written.
Before we get into specifics, I’ll compare it to two other major pop culture endings: Game of Thrones and Avengers: Endgame.
TROS is similar to the GoT final season in that it attempts to incorporate every aspect of fan speculation ever. However, it’s more like Endgame in that it is still somewhat true to the themes and characters—but unfortunately also like Endgame, it is not transformative or particularly interesting as a story on its own. In fact, it’s rather boring and honestly… bad storytelling. It tries to rehash Return of the Jedi but it doesn’t succeed in any way because the world and the overall story has grown since the early 1980s, and so the same story doesn’t work anymore.
Showing a cyclical story remaining cyclical with no sign of that breaking–instead, the cycles are even reinforced–does not give optimism nor does it give hope.
Redemption=death needs to die already. If we really want to reach people and tell them that the message is that you can always make a better choice (as Daisy Ridley and JJ Abrams have said about Kylo’s arc), maybe don’t send the message in each and every story that you have to die to redeem yourself. Look outside of cultural secular Calvinism, for the love of God and the betterment of the world and stories as a whole.
Now let’s talk Rey’s parentage.
We know Rey Palpatine wasn’t planned from the beginning (Trevorrow, the original write/director of IX, who was thankfully fired, said that he never planned for Palpatine to return), which means Rey’s parentage was most likely retconned from TLJ and there was no real plan for the sequel trilogy’s overall character arcs (save for Kylo’s, according to the actors and writers).
Listen to me. You don’t have to have everything planned when you start a three-film saga, but you gotta know the major beats.
This is like a sad game of movie telephone.
Yes, I know the OT Star Wars didn’t have a plan either and it’s like one of the only examples I can think of where no plan worked out–albeit not without hiccups (Leia kissing Luke, anyone?) If you expect lightning to strike twice in the same place, I’m sorry, but you are hopelessly naive.
Having Rey decide she wants to carry on the name Skywalker at the end is lame as shit. It’s a way to appease fans while being like nah she still isn’t related. Trying to please every fan is a sure way to guarantee that you will please no one. It might make for a perfectly pleasant film experience (I really hope it does), but not good, lasting storytelling (though not like, horrific either). It’s meh. It’s like… giving someone who is starving oatmeal. It will get the job done but will it satisfy and enthrall people? Not quite.
And let’s switch gears for a minute to Finn and Rose, my first and third favorite characters in this trilogy (Kylo is second, Rey is fourth). The sidelining of Rose is nothing short of a terrible attempt to please the white-supremacist-aligned Fandom Menace. Let’s not pretend it’s anything else. JJ’s lipservice about how wonderful it was that Kelly was cast at SW Celebration is, in hindsight, absolutely nauseating.
Shame on JJ. Shame on Disney.
But the main problem I have with this film is this:
Why did it need to exist?
The answer is money. Obviously. I know, I know stories exist to make money. That doesn’t mean I can’t criticize the fact that the story was sacrificed on the unholy altar of capitalism and Disney’s desire to own our souls. (Disney–the reason I like your movies is that a lot of them are good stories. I’m not interested in pandering soooooo.)
The Rise of Skywalker does not enhance the Star Wars narrative. Nothing about this film satisfies the Skywalker Saga nor the sequel trilogy, and it kind of all comes down to Kylo Ren’s death being the nail that sunk the entire world of Star Wars.
Keep in mind Kylo is not my favorite character when I’m saying this. Finn is. But I never spoke about Finn as much because the story didn’t utilize him properly. I never had concerns about Finn getting a happy ending while I was worried for Rey and Kylo’s arcs. (Finn’s arc, however, did have a ton more potential than was capitalized on; in particular, he would have been better if he was more conflicted over say, shooting other stormtroopers. His whole character humanized the usual red shirts, which when paired with Rose’s everywoman character, had so much potential I could shriek about it all day. That he didn’t lead other brainwashed stormtroopers into rebellion and freedom saddens me. Also, his ending again seems to bring about a good victim/bad victim dichotomy when it is compared with Kylo’s. The reason these two are my faves is that they were brainwashed as kids which, well, I can kinda sorta heavily relate to.)
Kylo Ren and Rey’s relationship doesn’t really get much better than it did in The Last Jedi. It actually rehashes that arc significantly. We already knew Kylo would fight for Rey and the galaxy, so… how was this different? Now, if he had lived, it would have been different, because it was the after the fight that proved that Kylo wasn’t ready to redeem himself in The Last Jedi. It was Kylo’s choice to stay at the expense of Rey and the Resistance that was literally the set up for conflict in the next film. This… turned it into nothing? Their conflict is rehashed and then whoo-hoo! Easy way out! Kill him so that they don’t have to deal with the “after” this time! They never have to deal with the conflict literally set up in The Last Jedi.
That’s bad writing, fam.
Life is infinitely more interesting. Leaving the story open with a living Skywalker instead of killing literally everyone involved with the Skywalkers except Rey who now adopts that name is… so unsatisfying I can’t even. Even if later material shows him showing up as a Force Ghost, like: cool saw that with Vader so this… adds nothing to the existing films. It doesn’t really reconcile anything.
It also… does not help the Rey=Mary Sue argument. She is NOT a Mary Sue, and that is a sexist term itself, but in no way is it a satisfying ending to her arc, because it isn’t a well-written ending which means it isn’t a well-written arc. The problem with Rey’s ending is a mirror of my problem with Kylo’s ending: it’s the very much a combination of her ending in The Last Jedi and her life before The Force Awakens.
She and Kylo are now separated (permanently this time).
She’s has her Resistance friends.
She’s alone on a desert planet.
But wait! Now she’s now happy!
Uh, why? The only reason I can think of is that the narrative demands it. Because honestly, what changes? The family she chose–the Skywalkers–are just as dead as her Palpatine birth family, soooooo. I suppose she reconciled with her heritage and come to peace with it and so that’s why she’s happy now, but… I can’t lie. It’s not hopeful. It’s not optimistic. It’s not Star Wars and it isn’t consistent for the message (especially if this is supposed to be the ending to the saga!) to be both:
life sucks for the Skywalkers and then they die–seriously, look at Shmi, Anakin, Padmé, Leia, Luke, Han, Kylo–it is LITERALLY ALL OF THEM; and
deciding to be a Skywalker means you’re at peace.
I can only assume Rey’s life will suck and then she’ll die, tbh, unless of course she is better off because of her blood… which negates the point of her being a Skywalker and is a really gross idea.
YOU CAN’T HAVE BOTH IN YOUR ENDING. PICK ONE.
Rejecting the Skywalkers would be anti-Star Wars, for sure, but marrying into them as a way of bridging the unfinished pain between Anakin and Padmé and Leia and her father? Much better. Or just leave it open. Honestly, leave it open for Kylo and Rey to both be alive and see each other again.
But you’re just upset your ship didn’t get a happy ending!
No, I’m upset about the storytelling, of which shipping is a part. A canonical part just as much as the lightsaber fights are. Anakin and Padmé. Leia and Han. Finn and Rose. Poe and Zorii. Rey and Ben.
The Force created Anakin, remember? All films–even the spin-offs–encourage our heroes to trust the force. “May the force be with us.” But the Force created an ENTIRE FAMILY THAT LIVED LIVES THAT SUCKED AND MADE LIFE SUCK FOR EVERYONE AROUND THEM AND THEN THEY DIED.
May the Force stay far the f*ck away from me, amen.
But seriously I can’t trust the world of a galaxy far far away or its narrative anymore. It’s a contradiction that causes all nine films to unravel. Why?
Again, let’s return to my earlier GoT comparison, because there is one thing TROS does that is more similar to GoT than to Endgame: Endgame drew together a bunch of unique distinctly separate stories into a crossover. TROS, just like GoT, relied on cliffhanger, incomplete endings to its films and therefore the ending matters a hell of a lot more than a stand-alone story.
I’m not dying to rewatch it like I am with stories where I realize I might learn more the second time. And by “rewatch it” I mean the entire nine-film saga. Knowing that canonically Leia, Luke, Han–they all die and their last descendent dies, the last descendent of Padmé and Anakin–for me, it’s personally gonna be hard to watch again. It’s gonna be hard to watch TROS going into it the first time.
And so the saga of bad endings continues.
Game of Thrones remains the worst at a -100 out of 10. It’s followed by Tokyo Ghoul:re which is still 2/10, and Star Wars is, on paper (meaning after I see it I am hoping it rises a few notches) now… 4/10. Endgame is a solid 6.5/10.
Banana Fish, sweetie, I’m sorry you were ranked down there. Your ending is a 7/10 but the rest of your story is like, 10/10 so you are sprung from this list.
Help me, Shingeki no Kyojin. You’re my only hope.

So, uh, an AU no one asked for, in the vein of Link has a fucking gun: Link has a fucking laser sword.
Tumblr media
So first I’m not all up on my extended universe stuff, I only know what fic tells me but like that’s ever stopped me:
A Jedi lands/crashes on an uncharted world
It’s a pre-industrial/contact/whatever world with a mix of sapient species, most of which are at least somewhat humanoid, who all seem to have some kind of extra sensory abilities, and who are currently in some kind of conflict
He thinks there’s signs of an ancient technological civilization
(he’s half wrong - there is still room for magic in this world)
In the ruins left by a recent skirmish the force leads the Jedi to a sensitive child and its dying parent who lives long enough to repeat one word, a name: Link
The child goes to the temple
He dreams in prophecy and has some powers the masters can never quite explain but he gets a handle of them and they don’t cause (much) trouble so it’s never much a concern
Link grows up kind, clever, mischievous as youth often are, a little reckless and a lot braver than his master’s nerves can handle
He’s eventually knighted, and earns mastery young, along with some renoun and some criticism- there’s sometimes a little more property damage around him than the council’s nerves can handle
At some point around mastery he needs a new sabre- he’s changed, his style has changed and the old crystal no longer quite suits him as it did as a youngling, but it does for a while until he can go gather a new one
The gathering never happens - something, the force he thinks but he’s not certain, calls him down to the temple wellspring where he meditates and sees a vision of a woman (he thinks) with wings (he thinks) with an aura of such warmth and power (of this there is no doubt) calling out to him to come to her - to come home. He wakes with a crystal in his hand
It has... a lot more personality than the average kyber
It has a damn name
He goes
He crashes
(He will never leave)
Other things:
Hylia may or may not be the winged goddess
Demise/Ganon may or may not be the fanged god
Hyrule is a wellspring world
it doesn’t matter when in sw this happens
The sheikah will one day base their tech off the ship and sword and tools he brought with him
guardian swords n shit based on kyber tech and magic
Zelda #1 is probably a vergence in the force
Link might be too tbh
If he’s skyward link he’s actually from the surface and hylia calls him so help her daughter purify the wellspring/banish demise
Corellian Jedi 100% for the green tunic and slightly less emotional constipation
There’s apparently Jedi Adventure Robes which involves a hooded grey tunic ... like, You Gotta
If any corellian Jedi’s gonna earn a blood stripe it’s this idiot
I had more but that was last night and I did not get up to write it down brain theater is v inconvenient sometimes
If someone wants to play with the concept go nuts I couldn’t find a similar thing in my (very lazy) search

you've probably been asked this before, but-- thoughts on jedi fallen order? your star wars meta/fic/etc is always my favorite and i'm very interested to hear what you think of the new game!
I liked it a lot!
So, as I’ve said before, I haven’t played it; I watched a playthrough on YouTube about a week or so after it came out, so I’d gotten spoiled for it despite trying to avoid spoilers, and the particular playthrough I watched actually had the sound cut out on two of the big scenes, so that was a disappointment.  Watching it rather than playing it means that I definitely missed some things that I’ve seen people mention about it, and I’d like to play it at some point if I can get the tech to cooperate, though that likely won’t be for a while.
I was a little wary about Cal Kestis going in because of the comments that the creators of the game had made about not wanting to have a female/POC/alien main character, but for me Cal was good enough, sweet enough, and interesting enough to overcome that.  I really liked how much weight JFO gave to trauma, living with it, and overcoming it, with Cal, Cere, Merrin, Trilla, and the other characters.  Obviously the poncho is Peak Star Wars, and BD-1 is very sweet.  And I love Inquisitors.
I know JFO has gotten some criticism for being ~yet another padawan survivor story, but Cal is so distinct from either Kanan or Ahsoka that that’s not really how it feels to me, and I think his interaction with Cere, Trilla/Second, and the Ninth Sister really make his story unique compared to the other two.  I love the beginning of the game; it’s such strong world- and environment- building, and the strong sense of Cal’s personality really comes through in his introduction (headphones, blasting music, “I’m trash, I’m just not approved trash” -- he’s peak 2019 gen Z, in my millennial POV).
As far as the actual plot goes, it’s *flips hand* pretty much eh.  It’s a MacGuffin and there’s no way around that; it’s also revisiting plot points from TCW and the Charles Soule Darth Vader comics.  I can understand why Lucasfilm would want to continue to revisit that particular plot point but also, I’m tired of it.  As far as JFO goes, the MacGuffin is mostly an excuse for the journey, which was...interesting.  There are parts of it I really liked; sorry, my dumb brain loves gladiatorial fights even if that probably wasn’t, like, necessary.  Kashyyyk was fun; it’s fun to see Saw Gerrera again even if I’m also kind of like “dude, you haven’t changed your armor in fifteen years?”  I enjoyed seeing Dathomir again even if I have mixed feelings about the choices made insofar as the worldbuilding, but Merrin was really wonderful.  The Zeffo...I still feel that the Zeffo, aesthetically, belong in Stargate rather than Star Wars; their actual use in the game also felt a bit more Stargate rather than SW, for me?  I mean, they’re also a MacGuffin, but I suppose insofar as SW go they’re on the same order as Loo Re Anno’s species from the Han Solo comic or the Rakata from the EU, so not really something that doesn’t have a place in Star Wars.
The Inquisitors. I love Inquisitors.  I don’t necessarily love these Inquisitors. I unfortunately got spoiled for the Second Sister’s reveal as Trilla/Cere’s former padawan, which kind of affected how I felt about her, and I’m also in the FB cosplay build group for Second and it’s a little cutthroat, so that affected it too.  She’s...fine?  Something about her just doesn’t hang together for me, and I can’t quite put my finger on what it is at the moment.  The Ninth Sister has such a strong personality from the Darth Vader comics, and while she’s in character between the comics and the game, it also means I was a little taken aback by her abrupt ending.  (And I note that it feels a little weird that Trilla gets the name and the tragic backstory and the personal attachment and the not-actually-redemption, but Ninth doesn’t get any of those.)  It was also weirdly surreal for me to see the Fortress Inquisitorius, a.k.a. the canon version of the Crucible from Backbone, but tbh I think the decision to put it on another planet/moon(?) in the Mustafar system actually weakened it.
I got spoiled for Darth Vader’s appearance and that was one of the places where the sound cut out on the playthrough I watched, so it didn’t quite have the effect that it probably would have done had I gone into it cold.  That said, Cal and Cere should probably be dead; as I’ve seen pointed out, Vader hasn’t been allowed to kill anyone of significance in the new canon, which kind of undercuts him.  (The closest he’s come has been Jocasta Nu in the comics.)
All right. The ending. I don’t like the ending. Not because I really thought that Cal and Cere should have refounded the Jedi Order, but because I feel like they put the destruction of the holocron in the wrong place; I think they should have destroyed it to keep it away from Vader.  The conscious decision made not to re-found the Order is really uncomfortable for me, especially in light of the way that the new canon has treated the subject over the past couple years.  I was talking about this with @reena-jenkins a while back, so I’ll just copy and paste what I said there.  (Note that this was back in November, before TROS came out.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I’ve cut most of Reena’s responses and a little bit of other conversation we were having.)
So yeah, I have some problems with the ultimate ending decision, but as usual a lot of it comes down to how that intersects with other plot lines that Lucasfilm has done over the past five/six years.
Another thing I kept thinking of throughout the game was something one of the creators said -- either in an interview or at SWCC earlier this year, I can’t remember which, that there was a lot of debate on where to put the hyphen in Jedi: Fallen Order, i.e. that it could have been Jedi Fallen: Order (though title-wise that doesn’t stand up as much).  I do like how much emphasis there is on “fallen order” -- the Jedi Order, of course, but also the Nightsisters, the Zeffo, the Inquisitors and Purge troopers as a kind of twisted version of the Jedi and clone troopers, even the structure of the Republic being corrupted into the Empire.
One thing that took me by surprise with JFO was also how much intersection it had with Galaxy’s Edge!  Not to the extent that I would have noticed it if I hadn’t already been to Galaxy’s Edge, but having gone and also having the kind of brain that literally just absorbs stuff and then retains it.  Like, for example, the Galaxy’s Edge sporks that are now no longer used because people kept stealing them; they’re used in one of the meals on the Mantis.  Cal remaking his lightsaber and using the parts you can get at Savi’s got picked up by a couple of news outlets; I think this is actually a bit unfortunate, because they went for the Galaxy’s Edge lightsaber proportions for many of his lightsaber options and in my opinion, those are less elegant proportions than usually seen in Star Wars, so it ends up looking clumsy to me.  Another proportion thing that follows Galaxy’s Edge -- the holocron, both Cere’s and the MacGuffin holocron; the Galaxy’s Edge ones seem to be proportionally a bit bigger than the holocrons seen in Rebels and TCW, and the ones in the game follows Galaxy’s Edge rather than TCW/Rebels sizing. The Nightsister zombie crate in Galaxy’s Edge may also be a JFO reference rather than a TCW one, though obviously it could also apply to both.
I really enjoyed the Clone Wars/Order 66 flashbacks, though actually Order 66 was ANOTHER place the sound cut out!  I told you that it was the most dramatic reveals where I lost sound!  I loved that Jaro Tapal was a Lasat; I also like that, as far as I can tell, some of Cal’s specific movement types (wall-running and his tendency to be like “cool, gonna climb that”) seem to be more Lasat-inspired than other types of Jedi movement we’ve seen before.  I really like the design of Jaro’s lightsaber; I remember in the promo I was confused about the fact that it didn’t seem to be proportional to Cal, but of course it’s not!  It was made by a Lasat for a Lasat!  Order 66 is always such a mess -- and actually, I’m struck by how different Cal’s and Caleb’s experiences of it were?  I think one thing that the game made clear to me is how lucky Kanan got, in all ways.
The ending is obviously setting up for a sequel; I don’t really think Cal and Cere should have survived, but it we get a decent sequel out of it I guess I’m okay with it.  I know I’m missing details in this review, but I really did enjoy watching it; I liked the characters, I liked the worldbuilding, I think it did some really intriguing things even if I don’t agree with every decision made. (And, selfishly, I like my Inquisition better than the canon one.)

Reylo confessions / TRoS personal review upon first watching
"You opened yourself to the dark side for a pair of pretty eyes” - in retrospect this pretty much sums up how my obsession with the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy came into being. I was here for Reylo, Bendemption, and most of all Ben Solo since around TLJ. I could and still can relate to this character’s struggles and find him physically very attractive. That’s basically how it went down.
I had only once watched the OT, a few years before TFA came out. Then, in 2015, friends dragged me to watch TFA (I was like “meh, blockbuster” aka a snob at that time). I was pleasantly surprised though when I found the movie very well-made and entertaining. I did NOT get the Reylo-vibes then but remember strongly identifying with Rey’s fear at the beginning of the interrogation and Kylo’s line “You know I can take whatever I want“ making me shiver. I cheered at Rey for beating Kylo up on Starkiller Base and (joke’s on me for the worst take ever) legitimately left the theater believing him dead because of the explosion of the planet. That didn’t make me sad, but satisfied.
I did not think about Star Wars again until January/February(?) 2017. Another group of friends planned on watching TLJ together and and I browsed the Internet for some critics to read in advance, just out of curiosity. Somehow I ended up watching the interrogation scene on Youtube again and again, the sexual tension between the two I now clearly recognized finally taking my breath away. I discovered skysilencer’s/chandrilasky’s wonderful blog (which doesn’t exist anymore) about Rey’s and Ben’s relationship and generally started reading as many metas on this topic as I could find.
I fell in love with the pairing, and especially the portrayal of Kylo / Ben. Getting to watch TLJ in the theater was a bit disappointing for me though, after having read so many raving reviews on tumblr beforehand. At that time I could not really appreciate the changes in pacing and all the depths and nuances. By now I love this movie. Strangely, I never watch it in one go, only in smaller portions. Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I like TFA just as well. Ironically, the fight on Starkiller Base is still my favorite Reylo scene ever - because there’s so much more going on than “Rey beating Kylo up“. For me, TFA definitely is a lot easier to watch, mostly because of the more conventional pacing, I guess.
Therefore I was quite happy when I heard that JJ Abrams was going to direct episode IX too. I actually never doubted that he had planted the seeds for Reylo in TFA / episode VII. Sadly, TRoS, which I finally went to see with my sweetheart yesterday, left me pretty untouched for the most part. After roughly two years of really looking forward to, actually longing for this day, seeing it was not the experience I had hoped for. This is not to say that the movie per se is only bad.
TRoS spoilers ahead!
I am a sucker for “grounded” speculation and have difficulties to keep away from spoilers. And I’m really invested in Ben Solo’s fate. This led to me reading JediPaxis’ leaks weeks ago and hanging around on this site pretty much non-stop shortly before and since the premier of the movie. When the realization that Ben Solo actually dies (or does he?) kicked in, I went through some kind of mourning that included having difficulties to concentrate, the urge to cry, listening to sad music, and definitely crying a lot while watching a camrip of him finding happiness and then dying in a loop.
And maybe that’s one of the reasons why I couldn’t enjoy the actual movie more. I already knew the whole plot, had seen lots of gifs and had already kind of processed the emotionally challenging stuff, at least to some extent. So I just didn’t feel much, neither surprise, nor joy or grief while watching. Again, joke’s on me for getting myself extensively spoiled and reading about other people’s (negative) reaction to the movie. I didn’t even look forward to seeing it anymore, tbh.
My boyfriend on the other hand, who has seen TFA once and TLJ twice in his life and went into TRoS openmindedly after only a very short recapitulation of what had happened in the previous films, actually really liked it. He found it very entertaining, even surprising and well-made, especially the camera-work. He was all for Rey being a power women, for example when she prevented the transporter Chewie was presumably on from leaving by Force powers (Chewie then being on another transporter, not the one that got destroyed, was a cheap move and sort of a plot hole for him though). He generally sees the whole thing as an action adventure and advocates for not intellectually dissecting it or expecting too much depth out of a Star War. He likes the OT as a casual fan (he was the one to show me the original films in the first place), didn’t like the Prequels at all, was not a fan of TLJ and found TFA okay. We are going to watch TRoS again early in January with friends and he’s looking forward to it. So for him, episode IX is the best sequel film.
What I personally liked about TRoS:
- the very beginning - because Kylo and all the voices in his head, the nightmarish setting of the Sith temple as a representation of (mental) darkness, hopelessness and loneliness ...
- the overall feeling of the Pasaana festival (joy! color! coming together to celebrate!)
- the Poe and Zorri dialogue on Kimiji, because FINALLY a quiet and somewhat thoughtful moment AT LAST
- Finn and Jannah bonding over being former Stormtroopers being another somewhat quiet moment in the movie
- Ben seeing Han in memory actually made me feel SOMETHING
- the scenes of the last battle to end all battles (both Rey/Ben vs Palpatine and Resistance vs First Order) were sort of okay
- somewhat unexpectedly, I also really sympathized with Poe during some moments of the final battle
- the Rey and Ben Solo stuff after his final turn to the light was beautiful and heartbreaking (side note: I like to think that all the Jedi were talking to Ben too as he was rising/climbing from that pit)
- Kylo Ren / Ben Solo is already an icon, thanks to Adam Driver’s amazing acting skills and admireable dedication to this role. And that’s also true for TRoS.
- I actually liked the Resistance base scene after their victory, their immense relieve was so palpable
- the overall visuals of the movie are fine
What I did not enjoy:
- Everything felt so rushed. There’s too much happening in too little time, especially during the first half. The movie just doesn’t take any time to breathe, the effect being that you don’t really get into the story - the exact opposite of what the fast pacing was supposed to accomplish. Maybe less would have been more. Or the movie lasting for 15 minutes longer.
- Probably the worst thing: Most dialogues/lines, especially in the first half, are just super cringey ... TFA and TLJ dialogue never felt like this - or have I just gotten used to their text script over time? I have the small hope though that everything will sound better (at least to me) in English (we had to watch TRoS in German). Kylo Ren talking through his helmet was the worst in that regard, because Adam Driver’s voice is so distinct to me by now that the German voice-over felt 100% out of place and got me super irritated. It was downright painful.
- Very personal opinion: Upon closer look, both TFA and TLJ seem to be about Ben pretty much all the time, and I am all here for it. I did not get the same impression out of TRoS. But maybe that’s just a “recipient as co-creator of a story“ thing and I might be able to construct such a reading also for TRoS over time, after getting to know the movie better.
What really matters to me in the end:
- I am still invested in the character and story of Ben Solo. A movie (TRoS) made me mourn a fictional character, which IS something, even if said character was built to a great extent in previous movies.
- As said before, I enjoy theorizing, analyzing and the quest to better understand stories. And I just don’t want to be mad at the creators already. Ben’s death was painful, but I understand this pain as an invitation to delve deeper into all if it. If in the end the script and plot keep making little sense (which is a real possibility), I will keep to cherishing the parts I liked.
Conclusion:
Yes, I found TRoS very disappointing upon first watching, script-wise way below TFA and TLJ. Very likely it will always feel rushed and badly written to me. Maybe I'll like it even less after watching it again in about a week from now.
But, for the reasons mentioned above, I will probably still give it multiple (undeserved) chances. Because there certainly are good parts in it.
---
Kudos if you’re still here! And sorry for any language mistakes. Please comment, if you feel like it.

I haven’t even seen the new Star War yet but judging by all the reactions, the thing that gets me is like... (cut for spoilers)
The Last Jedi was polarizing because Rian Johnson decided to take some risks and subvert expectations, right? and some people loved that, and some people absolutely hated it, but in general the movie was a critical and financial success; for the most part, the people who hated it were a nasty, vocal minority. that’s not to say everyone who disliked it did so for shitty reasons, because obviously that wasn’t the case (I mean, I personally have very mixed feelings about TLJ, a lot of which ultimately boils down to “I think I see what you’re doing here and some of it is great, but I’m not sure it always worked and tbh a lot of it is not really want I want from my Star Wars movies in the first place“), but the negative reactions pretty clearly didn’t hurt the movie. ultimately, Rian Johnson committed to what he was trying to do, and all things considered, that’s why his movie did so well.
but based on what I’m hearing about TROS, Disney panicked anyway, deciding despite the evidence that they’d been burned for taking a risk, so they and Abrams dumped everything they had into making something as safe as possible to appease the people who--again--hadn’t materially harmed TLJ in the first place. artistic integrity? never heard of it! making sure the entire trilogy tells a coherent story? nope, people were mad at TLJ, throw it right out! ooh, people got super racist and creepy about Rose Tico? SCARY, BETTER SIDELINE HER but also say meaningless nice things about the actress as if that makes up for shortchanging her character! nostalgia and spectacle and bringing back dead characters out of absolutely nowhere? CAN’T HAVE ENOUGH. PLEASE LIKE US. some people really like Kylo Ren and some people despise him, and probably none of them will change their minds? uhhhhh try to make them both happy somehow PLEASE LIKE US PLEASE ARE YOU HAPPY NOW??
...and what they actually accomplished was pissing off everyone. I mean, I’m sure it’ll still make tons of money, because it’s Star Wars, but like...the people who hated TLJ for all the wrong reasons aren’t appeased because let’s be real, they were never going to be appeased anyway (and a woman is still the protagonist, and a black guy is also a major character, and Rose still exists). the people who liked TLJ or otherwise generally cared about the new trilogy are also pissed because Disney mostly seems to be saying they don’t matter and neither do their ideas about, like, coherent storytelling. people who hated Kylo/Ben are upset because the guy committed many many war crimes and repeatedly doubled down on Being Bad when he was offered clear opportunities for redemption across two movies but then got a last-minute redemption anyway. people who liked him, and even people who disliked him but were willing to be convinced of his potential for redemption, are upset because he got his redemption and then fucking died (I’m not clear on whether the movie clarified how much of his choices were actually his own free choices, but if it didn’t, that’s another good reason to be frustrated).
EVERYONE IS MAD. they tried to be safe and somehow make everyone happy instead of taking some pretty damn minor risks that they absolutely could have afforded to take because this is Disney for god’s sake and they already have all the money, and instead nobody is happy.
there’s a lesson here, but the chances of Disney actually learning it seem...not great.

so you gonna do that pokemon companion thing for the sw characters????
akjshfsldkjhsdkjgh sure!!! you must be the one person who follows me across all my blogs lmao
the question is which pokemon would be the star wars characters’ companion, like in detective pikachu. i’m just going to do the trios this time around, because we’d be here all day otherwise.
decisions under the cut, no i don’t take constructive criticism
-Luke: tragically the only pokemon with a bowlcut is smoochum and….uh…no. SO. My first thought was grass type because Luke is the new hope, and a second chance for the Jedi (until TFA but lets not think about that right now), but tbh I don’t think grass types would exactly flourish on Tattooine. I initially thought Growlithe, something sweet and loyal and brash that could evolve into something incredibly powerful (Arcanine). But I think Fennekin works best. First I like the idea of Luke having a starter pokemon and becoming the most incredible jedi even if it is “common.” And second, it evolves into an incredibly powerful psychic type, which I think works for our sage master luke. Think of luke with a different evolution of fennekin in each film of the original trilogy, with delphox in ROTJ, when he’s finally become the jedi he’s meant to be? *kisses hands like an italian chef*
Tumblr media
-Leia: I initially thought Dragonair: it would make sense to me if a Princess had a rare pokemon, and the fact that there’s so much mysticism surrounding it lends itself to Leia’s force sensitivity. But I think Lucario is the best choice for her. A steel/fighting type? Leia to a T. She has nerves of steel, and the anger and drive to back it up. Plus Lucario can use psychic type moves so. CHECK.
Tumblr media
-Han: Well first off I laughed myself silly at the thought of han walking around with a Meowth so that’s gotta be one of our two options. Just an equally sassy, pretends to be indifferent kind of pokemon. I also like the thought of Han having a normal type; he’s not the chosen one or a force sensitive princesss, just a guy, you know? In the end I think he should have a flying type, so I would go with either Pidove or Fletchling, based on which you prefer. They’re both normal/flying, and small and innocuous enough to be useful when smuggling shit you know what I mean? Maybe they evolve over the course of the films once Han gets his shit together.
Tumblr media
-Padme: My immediate thought was Lapras, not just because Naboo is covered in lakes and marshes and whatnot but because there is something so unquestionably regal and beautiful about them. They’re also incredibly smart so that suits Padme. Also the fact that they’re the “transport pokemon” and all Padme wants to do is serve her people well? Idk that works for me. BUT Lapras is frankly not suited to interspace travel so I think she should have a Jirachi! Much like Leia, Padme has a steely exterior so the fact that it’s a steel fusion type works for her. The fact that it grants wishes? Again, all Padme wants is to serve and help her people. and lastly I think if anyone could wrangle a Legendary type it would be Queen/Senator Padme Amidala.
Tumblr media
-Anakin: Cubone. Just. He has a Cubone. I will die on this hill. Perhaps evolves into Marowak once he’s Vader. Maybe an Alolan Marowak given how much more intimidating and Extra™ that variation is.
Tumblr media
-Obi-Wan: Okay so my first thought here was Nidoqueen? For some reason? I think it’s because he’s almost always in big brother/fatherly roles bUT he’s got some good lunar maternal energy as well you know? He’s a nurturer. I like him having a ground type, as well; I’d argue that other than Mace he’s the most grounded of the Jedis, most down to earth. But I think he should have a Dragonite. A kindly, rare pokemon, one who is incredibly powerful but you’d 1. never know looking at it and 2. doesn’t use that power for anything but good. I also think it’s easy looking at a dragonite to underestimate them, and that would play to Obi-Wan’s advantage.
Tumblr media
-Finn:  So at first I thought of a pokemon like Mightyena? Something fierce and unquestionably loyal to its trainer that works in packs. Like imagine that every stormtrooper has a Mightyena or Poochyena or something like that (like Team Rocket/Magma/whatever grunts always have the same pokemon) and when Finn rebels his Mightyena, which is loyal only to him, goes with him and it’s a clear indicator that he’s a former stormtrooper and that he’s free from them. BUT If we’re going on Finn himself I think Salamance. Not only is it a dragon type which is just objectively the best type (and finn is the best boy) but it can also perform psychic moves, which…Jedi Finn Rise am I right? ANYWAY more importantly when you look at Salamance’s pokedex entry it says that it grew/evolved wings out of sheer willpower and determination? Like it wanted wings for so long that when it evolved it got them. That really resonates with Finn breaking his brainwashing, for me. He wanted to be free for so long and he DID IT I LOVE HIM
Tumblr media
-Poe: My first thought was Charizard because Poe has to have a pokemon that can fly. Without question. Charizard fits his fiery personality, and more than that it maches Black One’s accents. important. It also “boasts speed and maneuverability greater than that of a jet fighter,” which, you know. Poe’s the best pilot in the rebellion so….check. But then I read Zekrom’s pokedex entry. I know it’s a legendary, which might be unrealistic and in that case Charizard is a great choice for Poe. But Zekrom is an electric type, which almost suits Poe better than a fire type to me, since he’s just lightning in a bottle you know? Also maybe an electric type could exchange friendly zaps with BB-8. Zekrom “assists those who want to build an ideal world” and who is that if not Poe? Beyond that maybe if he had a legendary pokemon Holdo thinking he was arrogant/self-important would make more sense (gotta get a TLJ dig in there).
Tumblr media
-Rey: She has a Scraggy. She just. She does. Listen to its pokedex entry: “Anyone who makes eye contact gets smacked with a headbutt.” You cannot and will not get more Rey™ than that. Also please imagine Scraggy wearing little goggles to match Rey in the beginning of TFA and stuffing little items in its ‘pants’. Incredible. Scraggy can also do psychic moves so….Jedi Rey still checks out.
Tumblr media
and that’s all for now! let me know if you’d like to see me do anyone else.

jotaro? also hmm bastila if you want!!
JOTARO KUJO
how I feel about this character:I LOVE HIM!!!! MY BOY!!! i just love how much he constantly tries to do the right thing and to protect those he loves even when it causes problems for him and his relationship. and like sure he makes some Mistakes (his relationship with jolyne in particular) but he fucking Tries so damn hard!! he just wants to keep his loved ones safe!! seriously though, jotaro is easily one of my favourite characters in jjba!
all the people I ship romantically with this character:kakyoin, his wife and @vaguelyillegal‘s oc, armani! i think him and kak just Work very well together. whilst i wish we actually know what his wife was like since araki kinda basically made her a non-character, i figure that there must be a Reason that they got married and had jolyne. i have an idea in my mind about what she’s like so a lot of my feelings on the matter of their relationship is built from that but still! and then armani and jotaro also just go really well together. and also i love armani and want them both to be happy and together!
my non-romantic OTP for this character:polnareff! i love their friendship so much!! like they’re total opposites in personality and yet they actually get along really well! just. i love both of these boys and they’re friendship a lot. i don’t even really have words for it.also just gonna throw mention of ira in there bc i find her friendship with jotaro very important too.
my unpopular opinion about this character:idk if this counts as an unpopular opinion bc tbf a lot of people share my opinion on this?? but i see a lot of people say that jotaro is boring and doesn’t care about anything/anyone and i couldn’t disagree more!! i think he’s probably one of the most (if not The most) complex characters in jjba! he has a lot of feelings that he’s bad at dealing with and hides behind his stoicism, he tries so hard and has done everything he can to keep his family safe as soon as found about stands when he was only 17, he has pretty clear ptsd symptoms (his fight with kira in part 4 comes to mind) and he just so very clearly cares about his friends and family So Much!! i never get why some people think he’s a flat character just bc of his stoicism when he’s clearly a lot more behind that!
one thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:okay so it IS something that happens in canon but we don’t get to see it; give me jotaro and polnareff’s adventures in europe in the 90s!! we know it happened!! part 5 told us that!!! i wanna see it!!! also i wish we got to see a conversation between jotaro and jolyne in which they just Talk about the state of things regarding their strained relationship and jotaro’s Absence and stuff bc they didn’t get the chance for it in part 6??? and it’s something that they both probably need now that jolyne knows Why he was so distant
BASTILA SHAN
how I feel about this character:whilst she’s not my favourite character, i still really love her! i also feel really bad for her in terms of what the jedi threw her into. she’s like 19 or 20??? barely and adult and the jedi just kinda throw her out into a high position within the military during the jedi civil war bc of her battle meditation which ends up with her fighting darth fucking revan. and then bc of the bond that comes of that, she’s made to try and keep them from falling to the dark side again whilst ALSO going out to find the star maps which are Very Important to ending the war and it’s like....SHE’S BARELY AN ADULT. she doesn’t need all these Responsibilities and the council just dump All of these Responsibilities on her in very quick succession and just...give her a fucking break Please!
all the people I ship romantically with this character:uuuhhh i don’t really ship her with anyone tbh.
my non-romantic OTP for this character:revan! obviously i’m mainly thinking dana here but i like the idea of the two of them developing a sibling kinda relationship! they’re both Exasperated with each others bullshit but they really care about the other’s safety and they try to be each other’s reason to stay away from the dark side. and then after kotor 1 they can bond over how full of shit the jedi council are.
my unpopular opinion about this character:i don’t think i really have one??
one thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:i mean kotor is a game series where i ignore canon bc drew karpyshyn completely fucked it entirely with the existence of the revan novel. and bastila is a character who particularly suffered bc of it since she was reduced to Pregnant Wife Who Must Stay At Home and barely anything else. so all that should’ve Not Happened. the main thing is i wish we got to see her develop a critical perspective of the jedi whilst still being on the side of good. like it’d make sense for her to not return to the council after kotor 1 bc she probably will have a much more critical perspective of them, their treatment of her and revan (and also probably others like juhani). i just want more force-users to Not be jedi and in fact be very disillusioned with them an their bullshit and bastila is a character that could very easily be that!
send me a character and i’ll break them down!! (askbox)
