Do you watch cartoons or anime?

hello hello I fell asleep last night before we got to the hotel but we on the road again now so!!! thank you for sending me entertainment 🙏

I gotta admit I’m not the biggest fan of cartoons, and I have watched anime in the past when I was younger, but I never really got into any that I tried!

tbh I haven’t even finished the clone wars cause I just never want to watch cartoons when I could watch something else - even if the cartoons are Star Wars related! About characters I like!! My brain is pretty weird that way idk why I haven’t been able to get into any cartoon shows or anime when I have a lot of recs from people on here and in real life who really like both

summary: After the events of the Deception arc, Anakin visits his former Master for the first time since Obi-Wan’s transformation back from his Rako Hardeen disguise. Though, things aren’t the same as they were before Obi-Wan’s feigned death. Angst ensues.

Standing outside the door of Obi-Wan's room in the small medical wing of the Palace of Naboo, Anakin released a deep breath.

It had been…a weird week, to put it lightly.

Last night, Obi-Wan had undergone a transformation procedure to revert his features from his Rako Hardeen disguise (which Anakin still found very hard to think about) back to Obi-Wan Kenobi again.

He had spoken to Obi-Wan briefly the day before for the first time since finding out that his former Master was in fact actually alive, though that was still the weird Rako Hardeen Obi-Wan, and that conversation had led to an argument where Anakin had stormed off. He had again seen the older man later that previous evening after the fight with Dooku, but their exchange had been once again very brief, only consisting of a few short words before Obi-Wan had been whisked away to the transformation chamber.

But right now, this was going to be the first time Anakin would be seeing Obi-Wan as his normal self since his former Master's feigned "death" in that Coruscant street, where Anakin had held Obi-Wan's lifeless body in his arms. The first time he'd be hearing his former Master's normal voice again since the last words he remembered hearing Obi-Wan speak only minutes before he was shot: "I'm going after him."

The air was eerily cool as Anakin found himself running through the dim, floodlit Coruscant streets towards the area where he had left his Padawan to check on Obi-Wan after the Jedi had fallen a minute earlier.

"How is he?" he asked, heaving a breath as he finally reached their position, where the togruta was sitting on the ground in the clearing of the street in front of a mess of cargo boxes, holding Master Kenobi limply across her lap. Ahsoka was cradling Obi-Wan's head in her hands and Anakin could see that the older Jedi was unconscious. Anxiety pulsed through his veins as he processed the scene.

When Obi-Wan had fallen, Anakin had felt Obi-Wan's presence in the force flicker oddly. And when he tried to reach for it again now, he sensed…

No.

Anakin's heart thumped in his chest.

Watching as Ahsoka turned her head to look up at him, a pained expression displayed on her face as she wordlessly met his gaze, crippling realisation dawned on Anakin as he saw the unshed tears welling in Ahsoka's eyes. His stomach dropped, heart skipping a beat.

"Obi-Wan?" he said in disbelief, moving forward, dropping to his knees in front of his Master's body. He reached for Obi-Wan's shoulders.

"Obi-Wan?" he repeated, a little more panicked, shaking him this time. He needed Obi-Wan to wake up, open his eyes—he was just unconscious, he wasn't—he couldn't be—

But, beneath his hands, within the force, Anakin realised that he couldn't feel a heartbeat.

No.

His eyes widened as the reality of the situation hit him. Obi-Wan wasn't breathing. He didn't have a pulse. Their bond in the force was—

No.

Anakin shook him again. As if that would shock his Master back to life. Will his heart to beat. Force his lungs to contract.

"OBI-WAN!" he shouted this time, hearing his voice echo through the street. He didn't care about all of the eyes he could sense watching them. He shook Obi-Wan's body again. Kept Shaking him.

No. This couldn't be happening. How could Obi-Wan be dead?

Master? he tried fruitlessly yelling down their bond in the force, only to be met by a blank wall where Obi-Wan's side of the bond had been. He furiously shook his head in disbelief.

Obi-Wan… he cried out in the force. Obi-Wan, come back… don't leave me like this, Master…

Lifting Obi-Wan's lifeless body to his chest, Anakin clutched his Master's corpse as he felt his heart rip from his body…

Anakin shut his eyes for a moment as his heart clenched at the memory, a wave of confusing feelings swirling in his chest. He willed the memory away. Opening his eyes again, he lifted his hand.

With another breath, he finally mustered up enough courage to wave open the door. The door quietly swooshed open. He stepped inside.

Anakin wasn't sure what he had been expecting to see. But when he took a few steps into the room, he paused for a moment, taking in the image of the older man's form sitting up on the bed. Obi-Wan Kenobi. His Master.

The real him.

We need to talk about the Rako Hardeen arc. Namely, how circumstances lined up so it really couldn't have been anyone other than Obi-Wan going undercover.

The Council is told there is a plot to assassinate the Chancellor. This plot involves Eval Moralo gathering up a bunch of the Best of the Best bounty hunters to determine who the Actual Best is, and have them be the one to kill the chancellor. Was this his own idea? Who knows.

The Council feels that the best way to stop this is to infiltrate the group of bounty hunters. They can't just make up a new bounty hunter--they wouldn't have enough of a reputation for Eval to trust them. But they also needed a bounty hunter that didn't have a lot of close contacts, who would know if something was Off about how he was acting. Which is how they end up settling on Rako Hardeen.

As it stands, Rako Hardeen has not done anything impressive enough to even be considered for this bounty hunter party, so they need to contrive a situation that puts him on people's radars. They also don't know where Eval's little get together is happening, but they do know he's currently in jail and planning a jail break. So they want something big enough that their chosen bounty hunter will end up in prison alongside Eval and can help him escape to garner some trust.

So you have a bounty hunter from Concord Dawn who doesn't have many close contacts, has a reputation for being a sharpshooter, and can easily be put into position and then replaced. Who are you going to have play this guy? Well, you need someone who knows about the culture of Concord Dawn--and its complicated relationship with Mandalore. Someone who perhaps speaks some of the language. And someone who is a decent enough marksman. Also, it's convenient that if the person who is to play him has a part in giving him the necessary street cred.

So of course, Obi-Wan ends up being chosen for this part. He knows about Mandalorian culture and history, and probably a fair amount about Concord Dawn as well. He possibly speaks some of the language (never confirmed). He's a good marskman. And he is a High General, a Council member, visible enough that if Rako Hardeen were to actually kill him, it would make a huge splash.

I don't think Palpatine told the Jedi who to use. At most, he may have found a way to plant the idea of Rako Hardeen being their fall man, knowing it would probably lead to Obi-Wan ending up in the position.

As for Anakin not being told--operational security is a serious issue, one that has blown up in their faces before. Is it worth risking the life of the chancellor--of Anakin's friend and mentor--just to reassure Anakin in the short term? It's not like Anakin wouldn't have learned the truth after the assassination attempt was foiled. And anyway, we see him being angry in the moment, but that's also probably partly because he could have unintentionally hurt Obi-Wan. We don't see any lingering anger or trust issues because of this (though it's also a kids' show that doesn't always follow through).

So yeah. Once Rako Hardeen was chosen, it was inevitable that Obi-Wan would be the one who was "killed" to go undercover into the role. It couldn't have been anyone else, at that point.

Finished The Cestus Deception tonight! Only took me all summer.

Highly recommend this Clone Wars novel.

Some highlights:

-The one scene with Obi-Wan and Anakin obviously! It's such a good scene, love how much they respect each other, and how right Anakin feels.

-Awesome Kit Fisto!! So cool to get to know him, feel him out, watch how he and Obi-Wan play off each other.

-The clones. Give me a lot of thoughts, and none of them hating on anyone except Palpatine. I've read enough war, and dreamed enough, to see both sides of things. Makes me so intrigued about how I'll combine the original stories with the TCW clones takes.

-The usual cool factor of getting to know another planet and culture.

-Obi-Wan thinking of Ventress as a 'bald-pated witch'. Seriously. Hilarious and a perfect insult. I will always think of her as that now.

Well, now I'm on to Jedi Trial and I am so excited to finally read about my boy again!!! Beautiful timing with Anakin just having made his on-screen return. :)))))))

Chapter 20: The Moment Of Truth And The Moment To Lie

She could use Obi-Wan’s company right about now. He would know what to say to chase the fear and pain away, and his presence always gave a kind warmth that made her feel safe.

Grim wouldn’t even mind a lecture about how reckless and foolish she had been.

Except he was not here, he was on a mission, pretending to be his own killer.

Even if he were here, she doubted she would be able to tell him what had happened.
