anytime anyone talks about how poor and dirty and violent india is, all i can think about his how my grandfather's muslim best friend had to be smuggled across the border, how the partition split his village directly down the middle. how my great-grandmother was one of the few in her entire town who still had rice because they had ordered too much by chance the day before the partition. i think about how the british stole one of the last princes from punjab, took him away from his family and poisoned him against his mother, and by the time he learned the truth, they had already stolen his birthright. (how they were the ones that caterogrized sikhs and hindus as the same, and how, even now, most people still think that way) anytime anyone talks about how "bad" india is, all i can think of is that they made it like that.
