Let’s get one thing straight. Kiseki: Dear to me is NOT that show, but if it was, it could totally go into how much of a terrible guardian Chen Dong Yang is.
First of all, neither of his adopted kids view him as a parent, but a boss, which shows where his priorities lie. He promised one of his “sons” a chance to leave the mafia life in exchange for 4 years of prison as a bodyguard/meat shield. And then attacked his other “son” in broad daylight with a rubber bullet to scare the living daylights out of Ai Di, to force him to return to the gang, despite “being left alone” being a promised clause of his jail time.
I mean, mafia shows are usually rife with the toxic parent tropes that can allow childhood daddy issues to create whump, but I kind of like how Kiseki went “eh, it’s not that deep. We’ll leave crumbs, but pivot right back to boys in love and being romantic who has time for any of that” and they were so valid for it. However, if fic writers want to capitalize on those crumbs, I would not be opposed

Episode 7 of ‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power’.
Shadow Weaver directly went after Adora this time. The scene between them where Adora stood up to her and told her that she had no power over her anymore. Wow.
Like I said. For a children’s show this is pretty daring.
But it’s exactly the kind of thing children should be taught and shown in TV. If I had a child, this is exactly the kind of TV show I’d want them to be watching, especially if they identified as female. So important!
Something that teaches them inner strength, how be your own person and to use discernment at all times. Not “don’t speak to strangers” or shit like that because that only instils fear and nobody should be treated like they’re a threat or danger until it’s proven that they are.
Which is why critical thinking and cognitive discernment is very important to learn early.
And that’s what this show does from what I’ve seen of it so far. It teaches kids through its writing to be stronger but not in the physical way like most superhero media does. But in the smarter way. And to rely on allies too. Not only to know and understand that you need help but to accept it when it’s offered. To not feel weak for it because the lead protagonist - the superhero - has needed to be rescued several times in the show already and there’s not a single moment that’s framed as a negative like it is in countless other superhero media.
Hence the name: “She-Ra AND the Princesses of Power’. The plural is significant. Everyone is a hero!
I have to commend the creators highly for all of this. I mean I’ve only seen 7 episodes so far and it’s already provided a lot of substance most TV shows do not.
Especially not children’s shows because the creators and studios think that sticking to the silly and satirical is all that’s ever needed to make the show successful (which by the way, episode 6 had me on my ass laughing, so it also does humour really well too) but that’s easy, that’s normal. No, what sets this show apart from all the other children’s shows I’ve seen recently, is that it’s not afraid to go deeper and use darker themes while also delivering on the funny and the happy times, making those moments have a much sweeter impact.
It’s a breath of fresh air honestly. If I ever have a child of my own, I would not hesitate one bit to show them this.
Children’s shows used to be like this. I can think of several 90’s children’s shows that were this substantial but creators and studios became afraid and didn’t realize that you only ever see what’s already within your consciousness. There’s no reason to avoid darker or heavier stuff. You just have to be clever and careful in how you use it. This show is technically about child trafficking and grooming. Corrupting children and turning them into weapons and warriors. It’s very dark and heavy. But it’s genius the way that all that darkness and heaviness is handled. How it’s written is careful. That’s all there is to it. Clear intention and direction.
Conscientiousness in mind and a compassionate heart.
Well done, ND Stevenson and team! This is fantastic! This is exactly what we should be teaching and showing the youth of today because god knows everything else is teaching and showing them the opposite. 👏👏👏👌

I said this vaguely in my last post here but the other factor about starting school yet I’m still not done with g Gundam even if I’m close is I DESPERATELY want to start another show even if it’s going to be pushed back if it’s something that’s decently lengthy even if I have no plans to jump into another 40+ ep show after I’m done with G, I’m rotating too many 20+ ep shows I want to watch… Imagawas take of tetsujin, his take of mazinger as well that I did see bits of but never finished, but also for non imagawa yet mecha stuff gun x sword looks interesting and I’ve been eyeing for awhile yet still haven’t sit down and watched.
Oh and I’m also going to start another watch of casshern sins and I’m still watching big o with my bf even if we’re further into that-like the same amount of how much of G I have left-plus we’re likely gonna start something else after so I have 3 shows at all time to fucking juggle and I put this upon myself because I force people to become obsessed with what I’m obsessed with 💀

i think it’s funny people are getting mad people died in acolyte like it wasn’t about them? lol it’s about osha and mae and their masters lol we don’t need 50 side characters pointlessly getting random ass narratives (like in mandalorian lol) they didn’t die for “shock value” they weren’t central to the story. it’s not that deep. it’s literally not about them they’re side characters. like *gestures at andor* plenty of people died in that and it was also sad but jfc they aren’t the focus

Archive 81 tv show made Melody Pendras straight we cannot trust podcasts in the hands of mainstream media !!!!!!!
#archive 81#I have mixed feelings about it and as soon as they introduced Gal Pal Annabelle to replace Actual Girlfriend Alexa it should have been a#red flag#conceptually I really liked what they did to flesh out the first season#but they took it in a completely different direction by the end and at that point it’s not even the same thing anymore 🙄#like you can’t even pick up anything from the original’s season 2 because they reconstructed the narrative so much#idk man its not like they’re going to make any more of it anyways but I still felt the need to come on here and bitch#honestly main stream adaptations of podcasts scare me like I revel in exposure for things I like but ultimately so much gets lost in#translation#like archive 81 podcast is weird and nonsensical at times and Tape Recorder Man’s adventures in the Upside Down just don’t translate to a#general audience ? so they gotta bring in reasons for it to make sense like satanism and witches and demons#when that was sooooooo not the point of the original#like seeing how much they had to adjust to appeal to an outside audience makes me almost glad the wtnv tv show didn’t get green lit#can you imagine ???? how the fuck would they get five headed dragon Hiram McDaniel on my actual television ????#standing next to a Cecil Palmer with a canon appearance no less#like adaptations are cool and they CAN work sometimes but if you’re going to have to break and bend the world in order to make it to the#point where it’s a new thing entirely#ESPECIALLY since we live in a world where audio drama is not respected as a creative medium#at that point I’m just like leave it alone it’s fine on it’s own#anyways archive 81 is an interesting experiment into what live action podcast adaptations COULD look like but you can pry lesbian Melody#Pendras from my cold dead hands and that makes the adaptation automatically inferior imo#I guess she could be bi but when you remove Canon Girlfriend and instead make her kiss a man ? not likely#I am just talking to hear myself talk now goodbye#max rambles in the tags

i sometimes wish that jesson rlly went for it in Phoenix Drop High and made the shadow knights these cringy emo kids who were total jackasses. bc as it stands they barely even scratched the surface of grunge, and i think that making them a group of wannabe emo kids would’ve been rlly fun….. like having them listen to MCR and pierce the veil and make fun of Zane bc he only knows the most popular MCR songs. maybe even put them be in a band but all of their songs just straight up suck and have those “my soul is caged and bleeding :(“ kind of emo lyrics. have Sasha wear the those fingerless fishnet gloves with her uniform. make them force Aphmau to steal a pin from Hot Topic as one of her initiation things. idk maybe it’s just me

Ok.
Kind of hilarious reading about how Emmerich and Devlin were bitter about their planned Stargate film trilogy being cancelled by MGM in favor of reworking it as a TV show and that they were both being pushed out…
…and then a few pages later learning that Glassner and Wright were behind the scenes, both pitching SEPARATELY to MGM that it would be a way better show than a movie trilogy. Glassner was even threatening to leave MGM because another show was burning him out. They didn’t want to lose him and he told them he’d consider staying for a Stargate show.
Oop.

Memories aren’t for keeping.
They’re for sharing, for connecting with the people around you.
The good memories, the bad, the painful, all of them.
Good memories can help you share that joy with someone else, help you let them experience what you experienced, show them the joy that you once- and hopefully will again, experience.
Bad memories can let you help others understand and what you feel, what you’ve been through, they can help spread awareness and they can help you connect and help others.
You see these memories in the form of stories, memories shared from one person to another or memories shared from generations of people. Stories can also carry your memory as they are apart of you, we see this in history and we see this through random people all over the world, they carry stories of people they never even knew, or of people that maybe they did know but have long past, and they will keep those stories with them and maybe one day they will share them, and they will stay alive through those stories forever. Even after you pass one thing that can keep your memory alive is the stories you shared, maybe some so influential to others that they will share them over and over forever.
But at the end of the day memories aren’t for keeping, they’re for sharing, the good and the bad.

yeah okay i’m actually unbelievably angry about retconning out whole seasons. so funny how many people are celebrating it as if it isn’t an incredibly egotistical and supremely lazy writing move that’s a slap in the face to anyone who’s cared about the show in the past seven years
