me stoically navigating my way through drama bc bigger things are ahead and it’s not my fault people are dumb
#kissed a guy at a kickback and thought we caught a vibe only to find out he just wants to fuck me. next#friend’s bf of 7 years drunkenly hit on me at the same kickback (I was not ok w this). they ended up beefing over me. he denied everything.#do I want to be involved in this? no. and so I simply ignore it and keep it pushing#and the guy I kissed is cancelled. like he is dead to me. so that’s also taken care of#it’s back to studying full-time for the mcat#going to the gym/taking walks daily#volunteering at the refugee center + clinic#getting published in orgo research papers#and trying to snag the opportunity to shadow doctors at a massive cancer research center. like I’d kill for it#december was such a mess but I’ve finally made peace w the fact that most of the stuff that happened I couldn’t prevent#but I’ve mourned it enough !! whatever drama comes out of it I’ll handle just fine#i literally want to be a multitasking academic weapon everyone is intimidated of this year#i am not letting something as puny as a dumb man (both of them btw) stop me. goodbye#also everyone involved is older than me (they’re both 23) but it all just feels like such high school behavior#this is not a euphoria episode like I’m literally just not entertaining any of this#had to get this off my chest. i feel better#p

volunteer job asked if I’d be willing to do a demonstration at a local event so I said “what kind of demonstration” and they said “any demonstration you want :)”
so I asked “can you tell me more about the demonstration? like what is the event looking for?” and they said “we’re so glad you’re doing a demonstration! it’s at Place at Time and usually hundreds of people show up! how cool!”
so I said “I still don’t understand. what kind of demonstration are they looking for. what is expected of me. nothing has been communicated to me. can you communicate to me.” and they said “just do any demonstration you want :)”
#HOW DO I MAKE THIS MORE CLEAR (exasperated sarcasm)#THEY KEEP SAYING DEMONSTRATION LIKE IM SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS#I’M A HOBBY VOLUNTEER I HAVE NO TIME OR RESOURCES I CAN’T DO ANYTHING MORE INVOLVED THAN LITERALLY SHOW UP#but when I read between the lines on the email they sent the event coordinator they said I’d churn butter? since when do I churn butter?#and when I asked they said that they knew I was super excited to do the butter churning demonstration WHERE ARE YOU GETTING THIS INFORMATIO#AND YOU KEEP SAYING DEMONSTRATION. I DONT KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN.#do I sit there and do a thing? do I teach people? do people expect something to take home? is this families with young kids or can anyone g#I AM NOT GETTING PAID FOR THIS I AM NOT PULLING A BUTTER CHURNING DEMONSTRATION OUT OF MY ASS IN LESS THAN A WEEK#AND I STILL DONT KNOW WHAT DEMONSTRATION MEANS

the thing is, i know realistically that full time jobs take up a lot of people’s time, but that’s also hard for me to put in perspective while working full time AND doing school AND volunteering a bunch. Like. i very literally have no free time right now and the idea of ONLY working 40 hours a week sounds so luxurious to me… Like. imagine if work (that stayed at work) was my ONLY responsibility… if i could just come home and lounge?? unfair. obscene, even.
#i would be SO much more chill and get sooooo much reading done!#maybe i could even watch a show or something????#but nooooooooo#gotta work work work all day long#at least i’m getting enough sleep#early bedtimes ARE something i’ve stuck to#could i be getting more done if i stayed up later? sure.#but it’d be lower quality and i’d be even LESS coherent for it#so it’s much better to get the sleep#maybe in 2029 i will know peace… (planning to finish my Master’s degree by 2028 at the latest)#just give me a secure full-time job with benefits and NOTHING ELSE#i’ll keep volunteering as much as i can but like. i just need DOWNTIME… literally ANY would be great#i had 101 assignments due in eight weeks this semester - that is fucking CRIMINAL#LET ME LIIIIIIIIIIIIVE 😭😭

Womble is getting braver at walking outside a bit!! We have been practicing going from my place to my mums place (directly across the road) and once he gets started he’s not too shabby!!
Not pictured is me sitting on my mums driveway tempting him into playing with a wand toy and ample treats to make distant passing car noises less scary
#he’s really good at walking on a leash indoors so far#I’d like to take him to a petsmart or something to test him around other people#my cats#womble#he is a therapy cat in training#I really would love to volunteer at memory care places#he’ll go up and down stairs on a leash with me inside#but car noises are Very Spooky to him (fair)#if folks have advice for de-sensitizing cats I will accept them lol#he took to the harness like a pro though#didn’t even lay down and refuse to move or anything

I’ve sent out a ton of volunteer inquiries to local riding ranches hopefully something works out :)

pro: ran into a coworker at a bar last night who I don’t really talk to usually (he works upstairs, I work downstairs) and we talked and im pretty sure we were highkey flirting and he bought me a drink and the bar merch shirt i was interested in and thanks to the power of alcohol i guess i asked for his number and he gladly gave it to me and. yeah
con: i have the second worst hangover i have ever had and have been fighting for my fucking life just to eat saltines
#it’s getting better but only now that it’s like. 6pm#as weird as it sounds part of why this sucks is that I volunteered to come into work today cause there’s a concert going on nearby which#usually means we’re at least somewhat busy -> make better tips#and I couldn’t go in because well. you know#I’ve been sick and dying in bed all day unable to move or eat or anything#let alone take the bus and go to work#but. as much as I wish I didn’t go this overboard I don’t totally regret last night cause.#yeah. potential thing going on with cute coworker guy. OH and potential job opportunity at my favorite bar in town#apparently said coworker Also has a job at the bar in addition to where we both work and the bar is hiring barbacks at entry-level#so I have someone to vouch for me and the bartender we were talking to seemed to really want me to apply too#one thing that’s kinda funny to me about all this is that the first two places (a bar then a club) we were at felt really mid because they#were packed with way too many straight people (at a gay bar and a gay club)#but the bar we ended up at (where we ALWAYS end up at. it is the oasis. it is the only thing I can rely on) felt. like. not overwhelmingly#straight? at all? I mean part of it’s just luck in a way with just who happened to be there and all that but it’s also that the staff seem#pretty significantly populated with queer ppl#I complained to the bartender about how the club we were at (one of the biggest gay clubs in the city- if not The biggest) just felt kinda#meh because yeah maybe there were some guys dancing in jockstraps and whatever but the crowd itself like. did not feel largely queer#or at least didn’t have the spirit I’d hope for in a queer space if that makes sense. felt very conventional. not enough wild outfits and#makeup and gender fuckery and so on#and the bartender was like dude I KNOW right? I went off outside there once about the invasion of cishets when this space isn’t FOR them#and so on and so forth. and god that was So real.#so the experience at my beloved bar last night was like. 1) guy comes up behind me just to order a drink but i was saving a seat for my#friend who was in the bathroom and mentioned that in case he was looking to take the seat. chatted a little. ended with him pointing out#that a guy nearby was trying to holla at me.#2) I look over and yes. the dj is. in fact. looking directly at me and mouthing the lyrics to whatever song was playing pointed my way.#it was pretty sweet honestly I think it was partly cause I looked like I was shy and alone#3) whatever gay shit was going on with my coworker and i. amusingly he seems to get more flamboyant when he drinks just like i do.#im not 100% sure what his sexuality is but i Am 100% sure it is Not straight. but yeah. if it hadn’t been so close to closing time ive been#hardcore wondering where that would’ve gone. maybe its for the best that i had to go when i did cause i was pretty drunk and who knows when#I could’ve hit the amount of drunk it takes to like outright say hey just so you know i’d suck your dick right now if you wanted

well! I just had the meeting with the local place I’ll be volunteering at, it’s really lovely and aligns with everything I care about + value and I’m super duper excited because I’ll not only be able to work at events but I’ll also get to basically be mentored on marketing/writing!!! and! most importantly! I just gave my 2 weeks notice for my current job :)

He came out to do some shopping but that familiar hunger is a little distracting, mumbling lowly to himself while he thinks he’s alone in an aisle. He might have to go out later tonight to do something about it, before hungry turns to aggressive and leads to him hurting someone. He can’t let himself get out of control like that, he just knows it’ll make him feel awful.

#beanies#sewing#handmade#I miss volunteering#I volunteered a few hours at least once a week for…several years#working with toddlers and preschoolers#and before that I’d volunteer a day at least a few times a year helping people move or with community cleanup projects#and with covid and my health issues I can’t volunteer anymore#and I miss being able to feel like I was helping my community#so…I guess that’s why I like making things for charity auctions and to donate to shelters so much#I can’t volunteer in person anymore and I might never be able to#but I can do this! five more people are going to have warm beanies this winter
