need to fill out my planner for the month cause I have so much that I forgot to put in there
I took the "second skin" off my tattoo cause it was kinda gross and dang it does my tattoo itch. I know that means it's healing but ughhhh, I hate the itching
I forgot to get my Netflix subscription back. my boyfriend and I are starting weekly video call date nights (so like watching a movie or TV show together over video call) and Netflix is the easiest so I gots to get it again
need to rewrite my budget to hopefully fit monthly payments for a Mac into my budget
on that note, need to research what MacBook I want to purchase when I get paid next because I think it'd be more beneficial to use for school instead of my current chromebook (especially since I have an Ipad)

How to Play Old Flash Games From Your Childhood!
If there's one great thing that came with being a kid who grew up around the 2000s, it's all the Flash games from all sorts of websites. However, with Flash becoming obsolete by 2020, Flash games eventually fell into obscurity as more and more websites decided to use HTML5 rather than Flash, and more importantly, older Flash games risked becoming lost to the sands of time.
However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it's the Flashpoint Archive! The Flashpoint Archive is a program and community project aimed at preserving games and animations from all over the Internet. It's also a great way to reminisce about all the nostalgic kids' games that have luckily been archived over the years. This post will serve as a simplified explanation of how to install Flashpoint for the anyone wanting to play Flash games from their childhood.
Some things to note: the minimum system requirements for Flashpoint are Windows 7 or higher, although there are workarounds available if you have a Mac, Linux or Chromebook. As my laptop is a Windows 11, for the sake of conciseness I'll just go over the installation procedure for Windows devices.
Step One: Go to the Flashpoint Website
A quick Google search will helpfully redirect you to the Flashpoint Archive website.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'd recommend going through the FAQ, manual, and Wiki before proceeding further if you're a little more curious on how Flashpoint works or if you're a little confused.
Step Two: The Downloading Process
On the home page, you should find a big button that says "Download Flashpoint", so make sure to click on it.
Tumblr media
Alternatively, you can click on the "Downloads" button on the menu on the left-hand side, but both redirect to the same page, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Here, you can find the download page for Flashpoint, and you'll be presented with two options to download; Flashpoint 13 Infinity and Flashpoint 13 Ultimate.
Tumblr media
Infinity is generally recommended for casual users, as Ultimate is primarily used for archivists and data hoarders (plus, Infinity will have a lot less strain on your computer's space).
Tumblr media
All you gotta do is click on "Download Installer", and you should be smooth sailing from there! The Zipped copy is also an option just in case the installer isn't working.
Step Three: The Installation Process
Go to your downloads, and click on the installer.
Tumblr media
There, the installer tutorial will quickly go over the basics, such as what you want to download as well as where.
Tumblr media
The installation process will take a while, so in the meantime, feel free to kick back and grab a snack while you wait.
Tumblr media
Once it's all done, TA-DA! You got Flashpoint now!
Tumblr media
Make sure to update it once you're done installing, though. Flashpoint adds all sorts of new games all the time, so it's a good idea to double-check when you need to update every now and again.
Once you're done, that's about it! Enjoy your walk down memory lane!
Tumblr media
(Heads up! This is by no means a defacto tutorial on how Flashpoint works. The wiki, manual, and FAQ will have better answers to any questions you may have. This is just a simple guide made for those who're not familiar with the program.)

Hi there! Bit of a weird question, and I’m not sure if this is the right blog for this, but… best laptop for privacy? I’m going to go to uni in a year and my parents have said that they’re going to buy me a laptop, which is awesome, except— I don’t know which one to chose? I’ve never had a laptop before but I try to take being private online as seriously as I can, and so I don’t really care… well, like, I do care that the laptop has good storage and works and stuff, but I care mostly about how private it is. Which one supports adding privacy-related stuff the best? Which one steals your data the least? I… am actually not sure what kind of questions I should be asking, since… again, never had a laptop before, and I don’t know what about its make makes it private (other than like general online privacy practices across all devices), so I was just wondering if you had any recommendations for me? Tldr: don’t care about fancy features, just want a laptop that more or less works, but would love privacy to be the main focus. This can sort of come at the expense of convenience - I don’t care it if’s harder to set up, use, etc., so long as I can connect to the internet with it.
So the hardware is pretty agnostic on this, the place where privacy is going to become an issue is in the software.
Windows loves to track you and send your data back to homebase; Apple is a walled garden that doesn't let people get deep into configurations; linux is intimidating for a lot of people.
Your actual best bet on privacy would be to get a laptop with no OS and install a linux distro on it, but it sounds like that's probably not something that's terribly approachable for you. So in that case I'd recommend getting a Windows laptop (mac prices aren't worth it) and going through this list to change the settings to ensure better privacy.
HOWEVER please note that you should be getting a laptop with a full OS. Windows has an option for "windows 11s" or "windows 10s" and first off you should be going with 11 at this point but second that "s" means that there are pretty strict limitations on what you can do as a user in terms of configuration and installation.
If you are willing to pay a bit more for Windows 11 Pro instead of windows 11 Home, the pro license cuts off some of the more annoying tracking that Windows does automatically, but I'd say you're better off simply getting the home license and really digging into the settings and getting to know it and setting it up for yourself.
BUT if it's at all possible, honestly I'd say get a bare metal laptop (that means it's just the hardware, no software, you need to install an operating system before you do anything) and install linux. HOWEVER keep in mind that there are some significant downsides to using linux as a student, mostly that you'll likely run into software at some point that you won't be able to install. Also if you're not already pretty good with computers it can be difficult to keep a linux machine running (but very easy to make it private; that's the tradeoff - you can make it more secure more easily, but you really have to know how to fix your own computer if something goes wrong.)
For your situation, again, I think a Windows 11 Home laptop with the settings adjusted is your best bet.
Absolutely positively don't get a chromebook (you've got no control of the settings on a chromebook and the thing is made to feed information to google) and don't get a mac (you can get better specs on a PC at a lower cost).
For an idea of budget on this, I'd say you can probably get something from Dell, Lenovo, or HP for around $650-1000 dollars that's got decent specs (12th gen or newer i5 processor, 16gb RAM, 512GB SSD) and maybe something more like $500-800 from acer, asus, or samsung. Whatever computer you end up getting, you should get the added drop protection warranty because that means the manufacturer will fix your laptop if you drop it, something that is a bigger deal for college students than most people (because of your environment you're more likely to end up with drop damage than a lot of people AND because you're a college student you probably won't be able to afford to fix or replace the computer)
Good luck!

Out of curiosity, I found your Leo Ghost pal... But is it available on IOS?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
@h0m0s3xualart1st @rubyhavens
I know for sure that you can get Leo on Android (with 'Ukagaka on Android' app in Play Store) and Mac (via playonmac), but I do not know about any other platforms
I've been told by someone on chromebook they have failed to install him (I'm not sure what they tried though), and, for Ipad/Iphone, there's this program
Tumblr media
But, since I don't have apple products, I cannot test it + it's in Japanese + I don't know if it's just something similar to Ukagakas/ghosts, so. I cannot say anything about this or guarantee it will work

Apple computer startup sound like music to my effing ears.
Was talking last night about how much better Apple operating systems are because the interface has remained 90% the same since I was 5 years old, as far back as I can remember using it. I remember when the first mac OS X came out, cheetah, lion, snow leopard. My brother's big blue eMac when we were kiddos. Anyway, when I say XP was the best Microsoft OS, it's not just due to nostalgia. The interface was the only one comparable to the accessibility of Mac OS X and subsequent versions.
The interface of an operating system is like the face you speak to and the language you communicate in. Mac OS X+ are like a friendly face you've known for years, and XP was on the same level as that, easygoing and comforting. Windows 10 and 11 is like an alien that screams at you in gibberish; it is infuriating!!!!! I can't believe anyone ever suggested I get a Chromebook for work or anything besides what has been perfectly fine for me my whole life lol. Oh blah blah blah Microsoft does this and that. "Get Linux". LMFAO okay.
My favorite DAW GarageBand has been exactly the same with only improvements since my early childhood, and when I switched to Logic Pro afraid it would be a completely different interface that would require me to learn a DAW all over, I saw that the interface was exactly like GarageBand, only with more features. I can still get widgets, use PhotoBooth with the same silly filters. Why would you change what is not broken?
Anyway I'm on Monterey now and mine is compatible up to High Sierra.

✍️ What’s your ideal writing setup?
(Got this question on another post but I'll answer differently on both because why not)
I always write on my chromebook. Tab 1 is the document with the story on it. Tab 2 is the document with my ideas and notes. Tab 3 is youtube playing the designated playlist or song for the fic/chapter. Tab 4 is typically on the Ducktales wiki. Tab 5 is a fresh tab for me to type words into the search bar to spell check them but not actually hit enter because I don't want my search history to just be a list of words I was not confident in my spelling of so I just have to trust that the autofill had my back on that one.
As for the music, I make playlists for my multi-chapter fics. And then obviously the OMAM one(s) I end up listening to the album(s) while writing. As for Dream(s), I think I literally did just listen to Dreams by Fleetwood Mac because I really like that song. I used to go to sleep to it.
🐇 Do you write for yourself, for others, or both?
I've never really thought about it as one or the other. I guess it's more writing for myself than not. I'm of the mindset that I'll just write what I want to write and if people like it and read it or maybe even don't then that's cool. Not that I'm immune to the almighty numbers of course, but I don't think I'll ever write a story without wanting to do it if that makes sense. Like I'm not writing Beneath the Skin just because My Head is an Animal was well-received. It's because I personally wanted to continue the story, and also it helps that it got good feedback.
And also it's probably a psychological fact or whatever that when people get good feedback, it makes them feel better about the work they did. And getting that validation is pretty neat. But that's what posting on tumblr is for. I like to think I hold the actual writing I do to a higher standard than my silly hellsite posts.
💘 Is it easier to write angst or fluff?
I have a love/hate relationship with angst. Or should I call it a hurt/comfort relationship? Idk, words are weird.
I'm a huge hypocrite when it comes to this kind of stuff. I'll look at an angsty story or post and think "gosh that's awfully angsty for a disney kids show about the funny ducks" and decide that's not what I'm into because I like seeing my favorite characters be happy all the time forever like they deserve.
But then when I go to write my own stuff, it does get pretty angsty. I don't even realize it when I write it, because that's just where it ends up naturally. So in that regard it really is easier to do angst just in the sense that the conflict/plot/themes/reasons-for-the-story-to-exist are easier to come by.
On the other hand I've struggled lately writing because I don't want to get too angsty. I've already written some pretty tough stuff in my opinion, but I just don't want it to get too wrapped up in that to where I miss the point of writing the funny ducks. It's weird, and I'm working through it so hopefully it won't be a huge issue.
Basically, an ideal world would let me write the fluffiest fluff ever. But my insistence on there being a compelling narrative and character exploration makes angst so much more natural to write in service of that. I think that was my point? Idk
Thanks for the ask!!

Taking a break from the types of projects I normally work on in favor of some game design. I don’t have much experience with game design so I decided to try to build a hospital game for Roblox. There’s a few reasons I choose to use Roblox the main one is it’s free to design for, but they also make it really easy to build something but also give you the option to write custom code called scripts for more advanced features. They also have a huge library of prebuilt furnishings, including tons of actually working medical equipment. I’ve been working on it for 18 hours and I still have a long way to go. I’ve also been messing around with some of the custom code options. I should mention that I’m not a coder and in fact I absolutely despise coding and only do it when I need to. I’m entirely self taught for all coding. Roblox studio uses Lua as the programing language and despite the fact I knew nothing about it going in, I picked it up really fast due to it being very similar to other languages I’ve played with in the past. I taught myself to understand HTML when I was 15 through the use of the inspect element on Google chrome. When I was 16 I taught myself the basics of C++ so I could program an arduino microcontroller. Also around the age of 16 I spent at least 50 hours trying to run programs I couldn’t normally run on my chromebook because it’s all I had. That got me really good with Linux Ubuntu and Debian commands and it still comes into handy to this day when I work on Linux based operating systems (I have a Mac and I bet you didn’t know that as of Mac OS 10, MacOS is Linux based). As it turns out Linux Ubuntu commands are similar to python so I can probably understand a bit of python if I needed to. I’m having a lot of fun working on this project and I’d actually highly recommend for anyone who wants to try to make their own game or just wants a fun challenge. Roblox has a reputation of being marketed towards kids but they currently have 17+ mature games under development.
Comment if you want an update on this project and If I get enough interest I’ll update you.

Have you ever written a scene or line that just cracked you up, whether it was for intentional comic relief or just a wonky thing your characters did Also do...do question marks not work in asks or is my chromebook just messing with me by holding the one relevant punctuation mark hostage
I'm going to answer your second question first, since it's the easiest to answer. No, question marks work in asks (usually). I have had an instant in a post where my question marks would not appear, but I managed to fix that by restarting my Mac. It could be an issue with Tumblr or with your Chromebook, but I am not sure about either. I am not the best with computers. If it becomes a common occurrence, even after restarts, consider troubleshooting with a professional.
As for the first, oh my, you have no idea what you've gotten into. I might talk about my horror works the most on this...abomination of a website, but comedy always works its way into what I write. A little while ago (can't remember how long, could have been months or years) I wrote a Macbeth parody in which I was determined to use modern slang (which has been updated recently) and make the play overall more fit for the present times. I was bent on turning it into the best comedy play I could churn up at the time, and I think past me delivered pretty well. The entire thing was cracking me up beyond tears each time I even thought of writing. If you would like to see the full monstrous creation, I might consider posting it, scene by scene.
There are also more instances of this, too many for a single ask.
Then there's the simple one:
Her father laughed. “Never change, dear.”
“Got it. Freeze me in the basement then.”
I have a dark sense of humour sometimes. Thanks for the ask!

I'm in the last push to finish my dissertation, so I upgraded my study setup.
The two main apps I'm using here are Ulysses for writing, and Liquid Text for my notes. Over the last year or so, I've been reading and annotating entirely in Liquid Text to build a large set of references for the dissertation. You can see in the image both the original text and where I've pulled out passages into my workspace; the red lines connect the two, and each acts as a clickable link to the relevant document and page; I've got about 30 documents in this workspace, meaning that those links are a lifesaver. Normally, I just have this on my iPad, where Liquid Text has excellent Pencil integration, however for just these next few weeks I've bought a subscription to Liquid Text Live to sync with my Mac. I then took the TV from my house and brought it to my office, so that I can throw up my entire workspace on a bigass screen, while doing the writing on my Mac's smaller screen. I also threw an orange filter over everything to reduce eyestrain (this can be found in the accessibility settings on a Mac). Finally, since the TV and Mac are running the whole business end, I set up my iPad to control Spotify, which has been weirdly helpful for not breaking workflow; my ADHD gets triggered pretty badly by certain music things, so having a touch screen right there to skip songs or start a loop has helped. Honestly, this last year has been illuminating. I've gotten more done in the last 13 or so months than in the last 4 years combined, and a major part of that has been the integration of these kinds of tools. Liquid Text (and to a lesser extent Ulysses) has been critical in managing my ADHD, and especially my executive dysfunction. Being able to have all my readings ready to go on a device drastically reduces how many spoons it takes to start reading, and Liquid Text's method of annotation assists in preventing attention problems, both by reducing workflow interruptions and also in making the writing process far less tedious by consolidating all my annotations from different documents into a single workspace, which itself helps in the same way vis-à-vis attention and executive dysfunction.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this system for most ADHD folks; it's definitely overkill. All the tools help, for sure, but would not be worth the expense. We only have a TV at all because my wife was entered into (and won) a random drawing when she was working in the UPS warehouse. I probably wouldn't try to afford a Mac for school purposes; I have one because I'm an electronic musician, and happened to be in (relatively) solid financial position at the time. I was still on stipend, was adjuncting to supplement, had a trade in, and my wife hadn't yet gone back to school. In my current financial status, I probably would be writing my dissertation on the iPad, or at most would have something very minimal; maybe a chromebook.
With that in mind, I would recommend an iPad running Liquid Text, with a Pencil to any ADHD academic that can afford it. It was a major financial stress for us; I only just finished paying mine off, but it was absolutely worth it, for me. Moreover, one really doesn't have to be in the Apple ecosystem to get the most out of it. Two of my colleagues have picked up iPads and Liquid Text, and have had similarly excellent results, and both are generally speaking Windows users. I've heard that the Windows iteration of Liquid Text isn't quite as stable as the Mac version, but that's hardly a dealbreaker. In point of fact, one of my colleagues isn't paying for desktop sync at all, and has found just having the iPad workspace is adequate.

I really don't know where it came from. sometimes I write better hunched over my phone like gollum with the precious and other times I need to be sitting a desk with my Mac and brown noise blasting in my ears. there is no middle ground. the phone worked today (was genuinely devastated when kids came in for their lessons but then felt bad because they were happy to see me, lol).

Do you have any advice on how to buy a decent laptop? My laptop is fried and I need a laptop for work. My budget is 300$ can't afford to spend more and I can't buy refurbished where I'm at :(
Idk what you’re using your laptop for, so idk if I can really offer tips.
The laptop I just bought was a Lenevo Ideapad 1i for $130 but I just got that to be a sort of internet machine and not much else since it’s my “back up” laptop for when I’m out of the house and don’t want to risk my primary laptop.
I recommend going to reddit for advice on this type of thing. I think there’s r/laptopdeals and also r/suggestalaptop or even just r/laptops. You’re much better asking them, since they are more fixated on laptop trends, as opposed to asking me who a. doesn’t know shit about technology besides knowing I don’t like HP or Dell or Macs, b. is prone to impulse shopping even when my budget can’t handle it, and c. literally bought a new laptop five hours after my old junker collapsed on itself.
Legit all I did was scroll places like walmart and target, find cheaper models, and look up youtube reviews 😭 My only standard was not a chromebook and ideally a 13+ inch screen.
