My small addition to the "show don't tell" advice of storytelling is that in my opinion it's okay to use writing pitfalls like "Telling" the audience something if you intend to Also demonstrate ("show") it in the story.

For example "This is a story about a very grumpy guy." (que your main character road raging) (inciting incident happens and your protagonist reacts grumpily to it). Like it's not an inherent flaw depending on how you execute it AND even more importantly, the tone of your story. If your story is quippy, self aware, self narrating or various flavors of humor or self observant, it's okay to Just Tell the audience things. Not all things, but it can work for comedic effect or for exploring character observation and psychology, or doing a commentary on something. Works especially well if your narrator is actually a character within the story (ie. Person recalling events to someone)

ALSO importantly, you can use "Telling" for subverting expectations which can work towards either humor Or discomfort brilliantly.

"This is a story about a very grumpy guy" (que main character reacting completely normally to an event) (main character's reactions are treated as somehow overtly absurd and exaggerated by other characters despite them being very tame and reasonable). See what I mean?

It's okay to tell some things:

- if it serves the tone of your story

- if you ALSO show

- if it's funny

- if it's existentially horrifying

- if it serves towards an unreliable narrator

- if it makes the story interesting

- if it's not the point of the story to "show" some particular thing at all

I know people are gonna interpret the "Show don't tell" advice many different ways, so I wanted to add my two cents to it. I have way more to say, but here's my take in defence of "Telling". I believe in art and writing there's a time and place for any kind of narrative tools if you work with them well enough and know what you're doing.

okay like i don't think i can name any vocaPs that aren't in the game so. everyone on this list has songs in the game soz

jimmythumb-P - ichika? not sure if he's still active but i think would work for leoneed. maybe for saki or honami.

ukaroku - ichika. they made yuukou 1/f no yurameki from sekai note i really like that song can sega recommission them for a unit event like they did with kashii moimi. some of their songs have a style that fits with n25 as well.

omoi - idk but leoneed. teo good.

picco - airi? sekai note again you'll see a few more of them. i think her style fits mmj really well.

yoshida yasei - haruka. her latest comms have had a very cool vibe, and some of their stuff could work with this. but i could see them going to vbs as well seeing as they do edm and won proseka next off that

mellowcle - mmj. but strongly depends on the vibe of the song because their genre is pretty broad and they could easily go to wxs or vbs instead. they've won proseka next twice and their stuff is really good i just think they deserve a comm

23.exe - kohane. i've been saying this since yy got added

*Luna - An. pleaseee they need to let *luna out of leoneed jail they do edm sorta stuff that would work great with vbs but sega wont add any of it

wotaku - akito. i think something like shanti or snooze would work. those are totally different genres but akito always gets bangers so who care

yoshihisa hirata - toya. another sekai note producer. his songs kinda give me the vibe of some of itoken's music i think that's why i went with toya.

masarada - tsukasa? wxs i think. i'm putting them on this list because my friend likes them and most of this list is recommissions.

kanaria - either rui or someone in N25 (mizuki?). rui has the showtune ban and always gets "cool sounding" songs, but the kanaria comm in the game went to kanade. also king/envy baby.

chouchou-p - kanade. not sure if he's still active but something along the lines of kokoronashi or shinpakusuu would work well for kanade imo

sheeno mirin - mafuyu. sekai note again go listen to limbo. i feel their music would be more suited to a fairly dramatic event so could be anyone in n25 if the story was right.

also if they decide to comm deco for the shitbillionth time please let him collab with police piccadilly again please please please please

College really crushed my spirit when it came to art (a very common occurrence, unfortunately) and it caused me to stop doing art in any form for years. It’s well known that art school is very harsh on people who do not do anything other than traditional art. They look down on people who do digital illustrations, anime, cartoons, comics, and etc. It embedded deep embarrassment and shame into me that I couldn’t escape.

The anxiety I felt when I posted here for the first time was insane. A certain event after posting caused me to reconsider creating this comic but the wave of support pushed me through. The whole thing was a misunderstanding though and it has since been cleared up! While it did have a slight impact on my confidence, I do see this as a blessing because it caused so many people to encourage me to continue when I was already on the fence about doing this.

Since I started posting here, I’ve drawn more just in these past two months than I have in the past 5 to 6 years. I’m happier than ever when it comes to drawing but I’m also very disappointed that I wasted so much time being afraid. If I never let my fear and anxiety get the better of me my art would have improved so much by now, but no used dwelling in the past! I’m working towards improving now and that’s all that matters.

This whole comic started because one day I want to create my own original webcomic. That’s something that I still am planning on doing but I wanted to create a “practice” comic so to speak. I wanted to get used to laying out panels, making things flow smoothly, practicing anatomy, and more. A few months ago I made my husband play Undertale for the first time and recently made him play Deltarune, so I got back into the fandom. I also have a list of songs that I listen to on repeat that I felt resonated with the characters of my AU which helped create the story and, boom, UTDR Fractured was born.

If you bothered reading all of this, thank you so much! I just wanted to share this so that you all know when I say thank you, I genuinely mean it. I have a sketchbook and there’s a page dedicated to all the kind comments I receive. When I feel defeated I reread them to give me motivation to power through. By sharing this, I hope that other people who have experienced similar situations, or are feeling disconnected when it comes to art, know that they are not alone. I hope that you persevere and accomplish all that you want to in your life as an artist.

There is a tumblr by the name of sahaweattsteh that has reposted several TMNT artists' art with zero credit to the original artists. They even copied the tags and text of the post, cutting it off with a link to a random website. I already warned a few of these artists, @indieyuugure @dysfunctional-doodle @sweeneydino and @tangledinink, so if anyone recognizes the other art, please inform the artists. In the meantime, report and block the reposter so your art doesn't get stolen too.

There's this really cool thing that a handful of diaspora Palestinians have committed a lot of time and effort to called vetting (maybe you've heard of it?) in which they speak directly with a fundraiser holder face-to-face or over phone/video call to verify all portions of a fundraiser. There are so many posts [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] that talk about the details of this process to verify that a fundraiser organizer, recipient, and the details are correct by verifying legal documents like proof of residence, photo ID, fluency in Palestinian-Dialect Arabic, family tree constructions, etc.

These vetters have been posting about Palestinian/Gaza/Arab culture/Islam/etc. for a really long time, [1] [2] [3] (these are Wayback machine links to the tumblr accounts of 90-ghost, el-shab-hussein, & nabulsi before you start crying "but, you can post backdate on tumblr!") [4] (moayesh's Instagram because his tumblr is fairly new) meaning that they didn't just pop up after Oct 2023 to start posing as a qualified individual. They are real diaspora Palestinians with stories to tell and culture to share.

GFM also has strict requirements for withdrawing money, needing evidence of a bank account from a country they service and a solid way to transfer funds from that bank account to the recipient's bank account. If the funds are withheld from the intended recipient, that can be reported to and resolved by GFM.

If you're too overwhelmed by trying to distinguish between scams and real fundraisers, then whatever. That's your problem, not everyone else's. You don't need to publicly announce to everyone that you're too busy/tired/incompetent/ignorant to properly investigate fundraisers, so everyone else should stop supporting them as well. There are plenty of vetters and scam-busting blogs dedicated to helping people distinguish between real and fake.

Donating to established nonprofit aid organizations is absolutely a good deed and is much more straightforward, but it's not the only way to help. Especially with the repeated aid blockages, sometimes Ghazan families need a more direct flow of money to pay for the ridiculously inflated cost necessities (I recently received a video from Farah wherein she states that a bottle of dish soap cost $50. $50!!!!) as well as save up for evacuation costs once the Egyptian border crossing opens. (Thousands of dollars!)
