THINGS THAT HAPPEN IN EVERY EPISODE OF TEEN WOLF EVER
part ii (part i HERE)
coach finstock philosophy being the thing that actually fixes you
a soundtrack that consists of the sort of music that makes you wish you were no longer alive, plus (ironically) the excellent song lose your soul by dead man's bones
jeff davis forgetting character's ages and back stories and sometimes the characters themselves (fuck you forever for kira, jeff, you massive poopy head)
jeff davis forgetting the plot
jeff davis forgetting the fact that nobody likes him
tuning in for sterek and staying for sterek even when jeff davis stops giving the sterek scenes together, and staying for sterek even after one half of sterek leaves, in the hope that the half of sterek who left will one day return so you can keep on watching for sterek even though sterek is not even canon and you know inherently it never will be
brilliantly appalling special FX
meredith having even crazier eyes than the character from the show orange is the new black who has crazy eyes and is actually named crazy eyes
tyler hoechlin hands down having the best spine-tingling-hairs-standing-up-on-the-back-of-your-neck werewolf roar of any werewolf on any film or tv show about werewolves ever FIGHT ME
queer allegory my beloved <3
isaac inexplicably wearing a scarf all-year-round
all the characters bar derek (only bc it's hard to get it wrong with a henley and black jeans which is all he ever wears apart from the one-time crimson thumbhole shirt that was inspired drip) having honestly the worst fucking dress sense
jackson being the angriest most brilliantly hammy antagonist ever with the best facial expressions known to humankind who ends up evolving into the most adorable gayest gay to ever gay living his best life in londonia with his lovely boyfriend ethan where they are now both runway models for jean paul gaultier (who everybody knows is a french werewolf from way back when in the la bête du gévaudan era)
getting the feeling you should be doing absolutely anything else with your time instead of watching these idiots yet being completely addicted to loving this penny and dime clown show more than you love your own nearest and dearest
VOID STILES BEING A 1000 YEAR OLD FOX DEMON THAT MAKES YOU HARD
having the constant need to shake scott vigorously because he is the funko pop! bobble head we all know and are forced to tolerate
chris argent being such a cringe over-the-top-gun-toting-who's-your-daddy-badass that he somehow actually manages to circle back around to being rad af
chris argent being so real and a dilf
none of the characters ever talking about the fact that scott's dad was an abusive arsehole apart from stiles because stiles is a champion amongst men who makes sure to tell scott's dad between scenes that his head looks like a cross between a crescent moon and a foot
every single character on the show knowing that there is not a hint of a shadow of a doubt that derek and stiles are doin the narsty—even the off-camera characters we never get to meet are always congregating on the reg in the grocery store or the coffee shop or the WSWA (We See Werewolves Anonymous) bi-weekly meetings and are all like "you know that furious-looking autistic dude with the spectacular monobrow whose eyes are sometimes definitely way too blue? and the noodly peewee herman MIT ADHD kid with the duct tape jeep whose dad is the sheriff of this fictional town none of us live in? they are definitely fucking omg."
each and every school lesson we see scott and stiles attending actually being a top secret pentagram level mission impossible code for whatever supernatural shit is about to go down in beacon hills that day
outing you as the monsterfucker you really are LMFAO

Felt like making an MLP next gen lol (something something, inner child or whatever)
[[Link to the base i used]]
SHIPS AND LORE UNDER THE CUT!!!
Characters from left to right
Daisy bell - fluttershy x tree hugger
....yeah, i know that you were probably expecting a different ship considering neither fluttershy OR tree hugger have curly hair. I gave daisy curly hair because tree hugger's design makes it look like she has wicks or some other black hairstyle and that leads me to believe she may be black. Anyway...daisy's special talent is grooming animals and i imagine she probably smokes weed in her spare time
Hailey - applejack x rainbow dash
In all honesty, i'm not really too invested in shipping in the MLP fandom though considering how it's implied RD and AJ got married in the series finale i decided to keep that with my next gen because i feel it makes sense. I chose the name "hailey" for this character for a multitude of reasons: 1. That's the name i chose for ALL my rainbow dash next gen kids ever since i was twelve, 2. It's a pun on "hail" as in the weather condition and 3. "Hailey" just SOUNDS like it could be a farm girl name. Basically hailey's thing is that she earned her cutie mark after getting bit by a vampire fruit bat as a child and therefore has a pair of bat wings. Personality-wise she's pretty much your typical "manic pixie dream girl" type (ramona flowers from scott pilgrim immediantly comes to mind, i've never read those books and i'm just going off of what i've heard)
Pastel dream - twilight sparkle x flash sentry
I admit this is a bit of a generic choice but tbh this was one of the first ships i EVER had so i feel it deserves a place in my next gen. Basically twilight and flash got married though their marriage didn't last very long and they got divorced a few years after pastel was born and twilight eventually got with big mac, pastel was very fucking angsty about having a new stepdad and only really calmed down after her little sister lavender was born. She's emo and also believes in aliens, her special talent is interpreting dreams (also, yes i know she doesn't really look THAT much like her parents. I'm just kinda tired of people ALWAYS making their flashlight fankids straight up just twilight but orange and i wanted to do something different)
Lavender web - twilight sparkle x big mac
Yeah i only really put this ship here because of the semi-infamous fanfic "the spiderses" and her personality is no different, this lass just LOVES her some spiders.
Rosemary - rarity x braeburn
This was actually the very first MLP ship i ever got into! At the time, i hadn't watched the episode braeburn was in and didn't know he was basically male applejack. 8-year-old me just saw him in the gameloft app and thought "wow that's one handsome horse! I must ship him with rarity because she's my favorite character!" So i put the ship into my next gen because of how much sentimental value i have for it. Anyways....i imagine rose to be somewhat of a "southern belle" type, her special talent is writing romance fiction and she's got the flirty nature to match! She's slightly inspired by blanche from the golden girls, i do admit.
Chocomint ice - pinkie pie x minty
To be honest....i only really added this ship in because of how often they're shipped in G3. I don't really have much to say about her other than she's based on the song "aoi-chan is going to eat chocomint no matter what" (bit of a mouthful of a song title but y'know...it's a japanese song so it's probably much shorter in the original language lol) also her bangs are modeled after the titular aoi-chan in the song's music video
I don't know if i'm going to do anything with this AU, but if i do: i'll probably include celestia x mirror!sombra and luna x discord

SPOILERS if you haven't seen this week's episode obviously
Tumblr media
We start off the episode with this shot of Superman with the drawn on glasses. A good homage to what Lois did in the 1980 Superman II movie...
Tumblr media
where she not only drew the glasses but also a full suit and hat on a picture of Superman.
Tumblr media
Next we see Jimmy waking up and seeing someone debunking his conspiracy theories on Sub-Diego.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sub Diego was an actual place in the DC universe before the New 52 reboot. In Aquaman #15 and #16 (2003) , shown here (W: Will Pfeifer, P: Patrick Gleason, I: Christian Alamy, C: Nathan Eyring, L: Jared K. Fletcher for issue 15, Nick Napolitano for issue 16). The underwater city is actually San Diego, but is buried underwater thanks to a tidal wave and makes its first appearance in Aquaman #15 (2003). There was a lot of casualties from this.
Tumblr media
When we get to our title its "You Will Believe A Man Can Lie" a reference to the tagline for the 1978 Superman movie.
Tumblr media
As seen here on the poster, it says "You'll believe a man can fly".
Tumblr media
Next we see our villain, well one of the villains, for the episode, Heatwave.
Tumblr media
In the comics Heatwave makes his first appearance in Flash 140 (1963) (cover art by Carmine Infantino, Murphy Anderson, and Ira Schnapp). Heatwave aka Mick Rory is a Flash rogue usually acting as a rival to Captain Cold aka Leonard Snart. In MAwS, their Heatwave shares the same last name and powers, but MAwS Heatwave is gender flipped. You might have seen Heatwave in the CW DC comics shows where he is played by Dominic Purcell in The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
Tumblr media
Lois, later in the episode, name drops Heatwave's name. Gotta be honest when Heatwave showed up I was like is that Rampage? Cuz the MAwS design looks vaguely like Rampage.
Tumblr media
If she does show up in MAwS, I'll talk more about her in another post, but for now, Rampage aka Karen Lou "Kitty" Faulkner, makes her first appearance in Superman #7 (1987) (full page here: W&P: John Byrne, I: Karl Kesel, C: Tom Ziuko, L: John Costanza).
Tumblr media
Steve drags Jimmy to film his debunking Flamebird videos and references Starro who I talked about here.
Tumblr media
Lois, later runs around with the Daily Planet police scanner trying to catch Superman and the dispatcher reports that a robbery is in progress at McGuinness Luxe Garage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a nice reference to Ed McGuinness who was the artist for Superman, Action Comics, and Superman/Batman in the early 2000s. If you've seen Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, then you'll know the movie takes inspiration from his character designs in the first arc of the Superman/Batman comic series. The Superman/Batman #1 (2003) cover here is done by Ed McGuinness, Dexter Vines, and Dave Stewart. I like Ed McGuinness's pencils, very stylized.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heatwave name drops Livewire and the Gazzo mod family. Both of whom I've talked about here and here respectively
Tumblr media
Heatwave has been running away from Deathstroke here who has been taking our her crew. Notice that Slade Wilson doesn't have the half black half orange helmet yet that almost every Deathstroke depiction always has.
Tumblr media
He, Amanda Waller, and the General who I totally think is General Sam Lane, Lois's dad, are fans of DBZ cuz of the scouters they're wearing.
Tumblr media
Later in the scene we see the General again he's totally General Sam Lane. I'll talk more about him when we get a double confirmation through a name drop/reveal in a later post calling Amanda Waller, Mandy. What a fucking bold thing to say to Waller! Like damn! power move right there!
Tumblr media
Superman and Deathstroke are fighting under a highway and we see the traffic is heading to Bludhaven!
Tumblr media
Very good reference to my favorite character in all of pop culture, Dick Grayson aka Nightwing. Nightwing makes Bludhaven his city to protect. The city makes its first appearance in Nightwing #1 (1996) (the panel here - W: Chuck Dixon, P: Scott McDaniel, I: Karl Story, C: Roberta Tewes, L: John Costanza). Fun Bludhaven fact, its crime rate is WORST than Gotham! Also HIGHLY recommend reading the new Nightwing run cuz its fucking amazing! Won a few Eisner Awards (think the Oscars but for comic books) recently and I am not just saying that because I am a Dick Grayson fan.
Tumblr media
Near the end of the episode, we see Lois willing to jump off a building to prove that Clark is Superman. A lot of discourse was happening online over this, but I do want to say this is pretty on brand for her to do.
Tumblr media
In Superman II, Lois does something similar and Clark saves her. its just in MAwS, Clark flies to save her thus ruining the secret identity, while in Superman II, Clark does save her but he is still able to get away with it thanks to him playing it more subtly.
Don't know why people we're in such a fucking fit over something that Lois has done before.
Tumblr media
In the after credits scene, Jimmy, who planned a sasquatch finding adventure with Lois and Clark, but they were dealing with their shit and Jimmy was by himself, decides to do the finding on his own and meets a giant gorilla. In the first episode Jimmy mentions an intelligent gorilla in France and my guess is this is Monsieur Mallah. You can read more about him here. If you made it this far down, I appreciate you taking the time to check this post out and if you want to see my other MAwS Easter Eggs posts - Episode 1 is here
Episode 2 is here
Episode 3 is here
Episode 4 is here
Episode 6 is here
Episode 7 is here and here

Episode 9 is here
Episode 10 is here

Today We Cry, Tomorrow We Rise - SARN Minis #56
Today We Cry, Tomorrow We Rise - SARN Minis #56 Transcript
Hi, I'm Sharon Hurley Hall. Welcome to the SARN podcast. I'm publishing on a different day and making this episode open to all.
I woke in the early hours of November 6th 2024 with a feeling of dread in the pit of my stomach. A feeling I hadn't had since the twin blows of Brexit and the election of the orange one in 2016.
When I checked the news it was to see the headline I hoped I'd never see again.
Despite his many character deficiencies, criminal convictions and dystopian plans for the future, tens of millions of Americans had once again elected the orange one to the White House.
And even more than before, they knew - know - exactly what they voted for. I mean, there is a whole plan - Project 2025 - for how he and his party plan to unravel the freedoms we previously took for granted. He's also stated pretty clearly his intention to retain power at all costs.
This vote is not an anomaly. It is not a surprise. We hoped it would be different but we were never sure. It was always too close to call. It shouldn't have been, but it was.
Even more than in 2016, the future looks uncertain and terrifying. Some people have made their exit plans, though not everyone has that privilege.
I weep for my American friends - the Black people and people of the global majority, for the trans folx, LGBTQ+ folx, Disabled folx, for the immigrants who contribute so much to the country, for all those whose rights will be taken away by Project 2025.
I weep for all of us, because tens of millions decided to ignore humanity and decency and because this election result could easily bolster the rising tide of far right sentiment worldwide. That's been happening since the last time he was elected.
I don't know how long the mourning period will last. It was weeks the last time. Even though I don't live in the USA, I feared for my family and friends who do. That fear is exacerbated now.
Yet, more than ever, those of us who care about equality have work to do. Despite the bone deep weariness so many of us feel, and a context that's only going to become more challenging, it's imperative to shine a light on what's happening and to keep up the pressure where we can.
We always talk about listening to Black women. Here are two whose words can serve to inspire us:
First, Toni Morrison:
“There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal. I know the world is bruised and bleeding, and though it is important not to ignore its pain, it is also critical to refuse to succumb to its malevolence. Like failure, chaos contains information that can lead to knowledge—even wisdom.”
And then Maya Angelou:
“You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I'll rise.”
We cannot afford to give up, even if we don't personally benefit from our activism. My ancestors would expect no less than for me to keep fighting for equality for all.
I hope their words will inspire you, as they do me.
So yes, let's cry today. Let's take time to heal. Let's ensure our safety. And then let's go, because no matter how it feels today, this isn't over, and we have work to do.
Thanks for listening, and I'll catch you on the next episode. Leave a comment
-- Sharon

hi, I’ve just seen your posts about references to queer cinema in spn and I would absolutely DIE to hear you talk more about that- and also maybe explain some of the ones in the posts bc there’s a few I couldn’t catch. hope ur doing well! toodles
(In reference to these two posts)
First of all, thanks for the interest; I feel like I owe a lot of influence to prominent meta writers who've discussed this over the years, which I've reblogged in the #dean is bi and #spn is queer tags, so I feel honored to be asked about this.
It just so happens I'm about to do a full series rewatch and hopefully come out with a long (much more coherent) meta series later this year. The basic thesis: Supernatural's queer narrative emerged both organically as a result of the early seasons' genre influences and deliberately on the part of writers constantly commenting on/transforming the series' foundations. The early seasons started as a critique of toxic masculinity, the nuclear family, and the American Dream, which invariably involves a critique of heteronormativity, but due to their tragic structure never fully proposed solutions to these problems; later seasons, through the writers' good-faith groundwork designed to circumvent and comment on their own external constraints, specifically situated the solutions in queer love and found family.
I'll argue that much of the queer coding and subtext of Kripke era was not so much "accidental" as a result of the series' genre heritage. Being influenced by the Gothic, a genre all about unveiling counternarratives to master-narratives like the American Dream, queerness emerges in the text implicitly as something outside of that paradigm; look at episodes like 4.05 Monster Movie and 4.14 Sex and Violence for some examples of old-school cinematic queer coding. Then you have Dean as a bisexual character, which essentially started with his inspiration from On the Road's Dean Moriarty (likely also James Dean and other figures that reveal the disillusioned American "bad boy" archetype was always more queer than initially advertised). Later seasons, in actively, deliberately queering this text, both transformed it and revealed/made explicit what was already there. And -as exercises in audiovisual audacity like 15.07 Last Call and 15.10 The Heroes' Journey attest- they consciously leaned into well-codified queer cinematic conventions to reveal (and subvert!) how they were made to literally tapdance around it. What results is a critique of heteronormativity that requires the audience to jump through hoops to maintain it as a critical lens, scathingly lampoons their choice to do so, and situates queerness as "what about all this is real" - "[happiness is] in just being", and in queer ways of seeing/reading.
I really enjoy it, in case that's not clear.
Not sure which examples in my posts to highlight, so here are some links to further reading:
Pink Flamingos: x, x, x
Porky's II: x, x
Thelma and Louise: x, x
Rebel Without a Cause: x, x

This is a concept I had for a long time. You might've seen art posts featuring stuff like the rider designs and the monster candy boxes but here's like, the idea in full.
Title: Kamen Rider Ghastly Nightmare
Episode Title Format: "Episode (episode number): (episode title) - October (placement based on episode)"
Setting: The series takes place in a small, quaint town located in the northeastern United States known for its love of Halloween. The town becomes the battleground between the forces of darkness and the chosen Kamen Riders who must protect the world from an eternal Halloween. The story takes place across the month of October, spanning from the 1st (first episode) to the 31st (final episode) in chronological order.
Main Characters: Aro Wulfe, Kamen Rider Howl - The werewolf-themed rider with the power to harness the strength and agility of a wolf. His costume features fur, sharp claws, and a howling motif. Impla Phange, Kamen Rider Drac - The vampire-themed rider, who can control darkness and use vampire-like abilities such as hypnosis and blood-draining powers. His suit has a gothic and elegant design. Beth Hexxy, Kamen Rider Hex - The witch-themed rider with the power to manipulate spells, brew potions, and control the elements. Her costume includes a pointed hat and broomstick. Arielle Ghuste, Kamen Rider Boo - The sheet ghost-themed rider with the ability to become intangible, manipulate ectoplasm, and haunt opponents. Her suit is a ghostly white sheet with eerie eyes. Lucifer the Cat, Kamen Rider Diablo - The devil-themed rider who joins the group later in the series. He possesses demonic powers and has a sinister-looking costume with horns, a tail, and fiery accents.
General Main Character Traits: The four main riders have been friends for some time. Aro is known for his enthusiasm towards the supernatural, Impla has an eye for the particularly gruesome, Beth (with her unusual green eye) is a practicing wiccan, and Arielle says that her iris-less and pupil-less right-hand eye could see ghosts if it weren't covered by her medical-esque eyepatch. Lucifer is a demon in the form of a black cat with red markings, his eyes a piercing orange-yellow that resembles hellfire.
Gimmick: The transformation boxes filled with Halloween-themed candies are known as "Monster Candy Boxes." When the riders insert these boxes into their transformation belts, they activate their powers and become Kamen Riders. The unique candy in each box corresponds to their respective Halloween creature theme, granting them specific abilities.
Driver: The main driver in the series is the Haunt Driver, which is used in conjunction with the Monster Candy Boxes to transform and attain new forms for the Kamen Riders. The Haunt Driver resembles a mad science lab, and has a slot for inserting a Monster Candy Box and a tube to place the individual candies inside the Monster Candy Boxes. On the side of the driver's belt is a small container for the Monster Candy Boxes, which is shaped like a traditional jack-o-lantern-shaped trick-or-treat candy bucket.
Main Kamen Rider Design Motifs: Regardless of the monster inspiration, the rider suit designs carry the source's Halloween costume counterpart, giving the series an air of whimsy despite its darkness. Each rider has an appropriately-themed rider machine (i.e.: Kamen Rider Hex's rider machine is themed as a flying broom).
Main Plot: The town is turned into a never-ending Halloween party as the legions of hell seek to merge the mortal plane with the afterlife and plunge the world into darkness. The chosen humans, who were once considered outcasts in their town, discover their destiny as Kamen Riders when they meet their mysterious feline friend, Lucifer, who reveals its true identity as a defected demon later on in the series and joins their fight as Kamen Rider Diablo. Together, they must stand against the legions of hell to protect the world from eternal Halloween.
Throughout the series, the riders confront various monsters, demons, and spectral creatures sent by the legions of hell to carry out their dark plan. The riders must learn to harness their unique powers and work together as a team.
As the story unfolds, the riders uncover the origins of the legions of hell and the reasons behind their sinister plan. They also discover the true extent of their powers and face personal challenges as they come to terms with their role as protectors of the world.
The climax of the series sees an epic battle between the Kamen Riders and the leaders of the legions of hell, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. It's a race against time to prevent the eternal Halloween and maintain the balance between the mortal plane and the afterlife.

The One with the Smart Design System
It’s been 20 years since the lights went off in Monica’s apartment and Friends came to an end. The concept, the talent and chemistry of the cast, not to mention the brilliant script writing, have attracted a legion of new fans to a show that the top TV networks still fight over.
However, as tempting as it is to write about Rachel’s haircuts or the comedic genius of the late, great Matthew Perry, I want to focus on an aspect of the show that gets less attention but is highly relevant to our industry. DISTINCTIVE ASSETS.
Now before you accuse me of being a tragic Byron Sharp tribute act, my musings are more concerned with how we can look beyond our day job for some practical inspiration, rather than trying to impersonate the legendary Professor (Sharp, not Geller).
But why Friends you might ask? Well, what better place to go looking for inspiration than a show famed for developing and deploying assets that didn’t just operate as separate entities, but as members of a carefully considered design system. Spoiler alert, do this and your brand is far more likely to grow.
Of course, there are many elements to explore, but in the interests of brevity, I’ve selected what I believe to be the most influential.
Element 1 – Costume Design
Just like their familiar catch phrases, when it came to the costume design, it was important that each character stood out on their own, but also complemented each other. So, designer Debra McGuire assigned each character a colour palette in season one. For the girls, Rachel typically wore greens and blues, Monica stuck to black, white, grey, and burgundy, and Phoebe got brighter colours and floral palettes.
As for the guys, Chandler's clothes were often vintage and racing stripe shirts, Joey's signature style was "defined by texture," and Ross, because he was a professor, "dressed appropriately," according to McGuire.
Element 2 – The Set
It’s no coincidence that Monica’s apartment and Central Perk live so vividly in our minds. Both provided the perfect canvas for the visual identities of each character to become established, whilst also giving the show itself a distinctive aesthetic. My old CSO at Ogilvy, Kev Chesters always stressed that a brand ‘owning’ something like a colour was “laughable, hubristic, utterly delusional & over-ambitious”. He argued that the best course of action was “to just claim it, and then once you spend enough time telling and showing the world that you are the one who is associated with it, then anyone else can’t be.”
As luck would have it, this is exactly what Production Designer John Shaffner did with the colour purple. As well as enhancing each character’s wardrobe, his rationale for Monica’s apartment wall colour was simple: "When you switched to 'Friends,' you saw that it is purple, and you stayed tuned." Furthermore, it helped other design flourishes to become distinctive assets, most notably the iconic golden frame that hangs on the apartment door.
The orange sofa in the coffee house is another example of using colour effectively. Found in the basement of Warner Bros studios, it literally serves as an emotive piece of brand furniture and is proof that you don’t need to unceremoniously dump as many brand signifiers as you can find, to secure attribution. In fact, the lesson here is the exact opposite. Namely, if you want an asset to become distinctive, give it room to breathe and think about its relationship with the environment it exists in.
Element 3 – Easter Eggs
Like any brand at the top of their game, Friends is a brilliant example of refreshing and building memory structures. Importantly, this was never at the expense of having some fun and driving visual intrigue amongst their audience. Take for example, the Magna Doodle on Joey’s apartment door. Fans became obsessed with the drawings and messages that changed subtly in every episode, and even started looking for hidden meanings.
Similarly, only the most eagle-eyed fans will have noticed that the colourful dots in the F.R.I.E.N.D.S logo have a hidden meaning. In case you didn’t know, each dot represents the main characters in the show. There are six dots for six friends and if you pay attention at the beginning of the opening theme, you will notice that each character holds an umbrella that corresponds to the colour of the dots. The likes of Aldi (think Cuthbert the Caterpillar getting arrested in their Christmas ad a couple of years ago), are expert practitioners of this approach, and it’s something I’d love to see more of in our industry.
Are little details like this why Friends is watched by millions across the world? Of course not, but they add personality to the design system and enhance the viewing experience for those who want to engage with the show on a deeper level.
A quick word count check has revealed that this article is in danger of turning into 18 pages (front and back), if I’m not careful. So, now’s probably a good time to sign off.
If nothing else, I hope it’s underlined the fact that there’s more to building a design system than painting every object in the brand’s primary colour or slapping the logo on screen throughout a telly ad. Recognising that each asset is only as strong as the other elements of that system, is essential in understanding how brands grow. Evidently, the team behind the world’s most famous sitcom got the memo.

I really love how hair is so often symbolic of change in The Owl House, specifically characters embracing their natural hair.
First you’ve got Amity. While she never goes fully natural, her refusal to dye her hair to match her mother is a really important turning point in her character. And I wouldn’t be surprised if her aim now is to grow her hair out to her natural color again. She could have recolored her hair in the human realm, nothing was stopping her from asking luz to find her some box dye, but she didn’t.
Next we’ve got Camila. There’s a background image in Thanks to Them where she’s thrown away her flat iron, and her hair gets visibly curly. Seeing Luz be her true self with her friends inspires Camila to shed the pressures of society, stop being ashamed of being a dork, and wear her hair the way it curls naturally.
And then there’s Lilith. One of the first things Eda ever says to her in season one is a comment on her dyeing her hair. As a kid, she had big, curly orange hair, but as an adult, it’s sleeked down and dyed black. Controlled in the same way the emperor’s coven controlled lily herself. In season 2, she starts coming back into herself, bonding with her mother and rediscovering her love of history, and you can see her hair start to curl again, but it’s still jet black. That is, until For the Future. Eda shaving Lilith’s hair down to it’s natural orange in the credits sequence is the final shackle of conformity being lifted off of her. I wonder if we’ll see a new side to Lilith in the final episode because of it…

ALIAS / NAME :  Deppert BIRTHDAY :  in Aprilll ZODIAC SIGN :  Aries HEIGHT :  6' HOBBIES :  Well, aside from RP I keep going in a circle between fic writing, drawing, language learning, playing drums, as well as playing and making video games. Also I like skiing but that's seasonal. Unless I am actively involved with other ppl in a project/rp/game/band/whatever I let my brain just pick whatever it feels like doing and roll with it. FAVORITE COLOR :  Orange, Black is second FAVORITE BOOK :  i dont think i read enough books for this uuuuuu I really recommend the Temeraire book series if you like reading about dragons in the Napoleonic Wars. LAST SONG : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPjSV-lnqvg LAST FILM / SHOW :  DUNGEON MESHI, NEW EPISODE RECENT READS :  The locked tomb series, I got a big recommendation on that one I just gotta sit my ass down and keep reading it INSPIRATION :  Muse wise I like to rp those with strong personalities; those who go their own way, but also those who act like jerks and most of all straight up villains. Generally, I just like to go into the juicy drama, terrible things happening, the triggering stuff and into horror. STORY BEHIND URL :  Aight so basically I been a certified villain enjoyer for a couple of years by now. Back in the day when I originally rped mha on tumblr I essentially only had villain muses. I still usually pick villains as my favs so that's why I wanted smth with villains. Also I'm just generally villain coded. It's a fact.
The cannibal part is semi abt me, semi abt my writing. Its become like a meme by some friends to joke abt me liking cannibalism bc of a few rps I wrote (esp Overhaul, I keep making AUs for him where he's a child-eating monster lol) and bc of liking shows like Hannibal. I just embraced the joke by this point. Hi I'm the cannibal guy. Whats up! This is my fursona the flesh-eating hare. :) All part of my villain aesthetic now.
FUN FACT ABOUT ME :  eepy

All Hail King Julien survey! 🎉
Feel free to copy & paste, then give ur own answers! 👍 Stolen from @fairfaxandy
1. What do you think about All Hail King Julien?
Worst show ever
2. When did you first watch the show?
I knew this show existed for years. WHY DID I SLEEP ON IT FOR SO LONG??? Anyway last June I think I finally gave the 1st episode a chance, I was bored & looking for something new. The 1st episode is only okay so I didn't think much of it. A few weeks later (early July) I decided to give the show a 2nd chance. Episode 2 is meh, but it was Episode 3 w/the absolute gay furry thirst trap that is Karl Fanaloka that won me over & sealed my fate to watch the whole show 🔥
3. Favorite season?
Season 2 is probably the best season of any show ever in history. Exiled as a whole is also amazing but sadly dips in quality for a couple episodes IMO
4. Favorite episode?
Um have u even watched my episode rank video?? I put s3e6 (Jungle Games) as my #1, but as time's gone on, I think it's really s5e11 (KJ Is Watching You AKA the Orange ITN Black parody episode). Ted is peak and this episode is his peak 🔥
5. Least favorite episode?
As said in my ep rank video!! The S3 opener - O Captain Where Aren't Thou (both parts). Jokes fall flat, KJ's parents are a pain to watch, & the pirate crew is so forgettable I can't name a single one off the top of my head
6. Favorite scene?
Um the whole show but the hardest I laughed at any moment was when Ted suddenly exploded on stage while singing for no f*cking reason
7. Least favorite scene?
s3e4 the episode basically opens with a minute of nasty visualized farts & everyone vomiting on each other. I like gross-out to an extent but this was TOO. MUCH.
8. Favorite characters?
1st: Ted my beloved 💗💗💗 he's so much like me it's scary
2nd: King Julien - a VERY close 2nd. His energy & ability to stay goofy in even the worst situations inspires me to be the same 🔥
3rd: Karl - Gay thirst trap hottie social reject misunderstood sad backstory creative genius who just wants love 😭😭😭
4th: Mort - Objectively the best fictional character of all time. Sure he delivers the funniest moments in animated history but I don't really feel a connection with him like I do the top 3
5th: "Uncle" Julien - sass and ASS 🍑🥵 I love villains who are unapologetically assholes. His redemption was forced & stupid
9. Least favorite character?
Maggie - I love farts but it 100% depends on who. If it's a hot guy then 😍😍😍 but this is an old woman so 🤢 & that's like her whole character
10. Favorite ships?
Jaurice - absolutely adorable couple, heck I get teary eyed just thinking about them, gosh I'm so gay. Anyway their ship is extra special b/c KJ is usually hedonistic & horni, but with Maurice it's so wholesome & romantic 🥺
Julieddy & Karlien - These 2 ships have their own unique dynamics, but I put them together b/c they're both a gay man desperately wanting a man they can't have. This kinda situation always fascinates me & I can relate myself...
Karl x Chauncey - we all kno who Karl wants the most, but the fact that he has a happy life with Chauncey makes me happy 😌
Pandy - Be gay do crime
Ted x Horst - tbh if Ted finally divorced & married a man instead, Horst is a genuine contender
Nurse Phantom & Dr. S - the way they bicker is hilarious
KJ x Rob - Gay booty bumpin hotties enough said
11. Least favorite ships?
Clage - I've already ranted about it a million times it's just crap
"Uncle" Julien x Zora - like I said, forced & stupid
Willie x anyone - Willie's too innocent y'all
12. Have you ever cried while watching?
I'm an overly emotional gay man I cry over litcherally everything. I practically choked to death crying the first time I saw Maurice fall 😭
13. Favorite songs?
-Theme song superiority 🔥🔥🔥
-True Bromance is a gay anthem for the ages
-All Eyes On Me (Photronique) 🔥🔥
-I also like Swagnificent & Big Stacks

I am officially watching Misfits and Magic again and I do like kinda wish there was someone there to be like "this is weird even by British standards." like I know part of the point of the Magical Misfits is they were chosen for the pilot program because they were specifically The Worst Choices for the Pilot Program, but still they keep assuming the weird ass Magic Society is also British Society and sometimes just being Canadian, not even British just Not American, I'm like 'no, that's... wait. I don't know if that's a thing they believe or not.'
especially after that episode of Um, Actually where Brennan didn't know the capital city of Canada, which is, Geographically, *so fucking close* to New York by the way, and he said fucking *Calgary* which isn't even a capital city of a province, let alone in Ontario. which I know is apples to oranges but sometimes very smart people are very dumb about certain things. and it makes me wonder like. "How much do they know about daily life outside America???" which is like. extremely like. judgemental and patronizing but also sometimes I can't help but have like. this creeping dread that it's not actually a joke???? or something. idk. it's a weird thought that's not fully formed and like I've never been overseas so they're probably more travelled than I am but at the same time like. I'm pretty sure there are Black people in Britain. But also it's a commentary on Harry Potter which like sucked at representation and totally didn't or conveniently recast them when they became romantic interests. Also the whole troubling stereotype of the Weasleys still being like... *that*. and their expies are still *that*. idk. I'm reading too much into it, and the fact of the matter is like HP has more problems probably than like. fully anticipated. it's like an onion of bad ideas, you just pull back a layer and find new bad idea that you hadn't first conceived of and like. that sucks a lot because some aspect of it managed to capture so much whimsy and inspire so much creativity. But it really was mostly the fandom that made it good, it's returning to the books themselves where all the trash is, and since the fandom is gone for the most part except for the crazies it's like. 'oh. ugh....' but then like Misfits and Magic is like 'oh right this was the stuff that was actually *fun* about the series. it was the fandom and the fan interaction.'
like it's the 'oh right I remember, I used to love not having anything to do with the books, because I kinda started hating them after 4, I just wanted to roleplay with my friends' and usually they were better at lore and ideas, and that's what Misfits and Magic locks into because like, Aabria is way fucking better at lore and logic than JKR, because she's objectively better at all this shit and a better person obviously. like. fundamentally. so approaching stories with Aabria is more interesting and engaging. but sometimes it's hard to tell if it's like. a parody or if like. it's weird. because sometimes it's weird, and I'm weird. And like there's obviously Vietnamese people in Great Britain??? so that's a Magic thing. and sometimes it feels like the Misfits assume things are about Britain instead of Magic. and it gets a little. Muddy.
I'm a little buzzed. it's 1am. I don't have reasonable thoughts. My holiday hangover is hitting me very hard.

'In contemporary fandom, canon is king. This is not a jab against an admiration of an ordered continuity and worldbuilding, the necessary aspects of creating a story to be lost in. But what goes beyond it—a yearning for raw, wiki-able data and facts that can be collated and held in amber, where interpretation gives way to a singular thesis—often threatens to override it. Which is why for Doctor Who, a show that has spent 60 years growing and changing and writing over and under itself, its latest shock is less about breaking its own world, but rather setting itself free.
It did so in the final act of “The Giggle,” the last of the three special episodes released over the last few weeks to mark Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary. Starring David Tennant not as a returning incarnation of the Doctor, but a new, fourteenth face, audiences came into the specials expecting one thing as their only guarantee: by the end of the third special, David Tennant’s latest Doctor would die, and transform into Ncuti Gatwa’s 15th.
Which he did... of a sort. Mortally wounded by classic villain the Toymaker, the 14th Doctor’s regeneration began just like every other contemporary imagining of the process has, inspired by Who’s long history—coalescing orange-yellow energies coursing through the Doctor’s body, preparing to explode in beams of radiant, transformative light. But here, they didn’t. Instead, the glow faded, and the Doctor, with the help of a push and a pull from his friends Donna and Mel, somehow split into two co-existent beings: the 14th Doctor and the 15th Doctor, together in one place.
“I’ve Bigenerated,” the 15th Doctor explains to his past self, confused onlookers, and the audience alike. “There’s no such thing. Bigeneration is supposed to be a myth, but... look at me.” It’s unquestionable in this, or any moment that comes after, that Gatwa is anything other than the definite article, although there have been valid concerns of the optics of making this choice with the transition from one of, if not the, most beloved actors to ever take on the role to the first Black, openly queer man to play it.
But the episode clearly establishes that this is the Doctor’s future staring right back at themselves—Time Lord rehab out of order, as 15 puts it later, imploring his past self to go on the journey of healing that has lead to his own currently revitalized lease on life. From the 14th Doctor’s future, his continued existence is not seen in so much as cheating death but once again, getting to see his own future reflected back at him. Ncuti Gatwa is the Doctor. David Tennant is the Doctor. It’s just that for the first time in Doctor Who’s long history of regeneration, we saw a version of the process that was less about physical death and rebirth, and more about divergence in time itself.
Part of understanding that divergence has been made all the more universal to Doctor Who beyond just this specific moment, thanks to returning showrunner Russell T. Davies. Speaking on a supplementary commentary track released to accompany “The Giggle,” Davies offered his own interpretation of what Bigeneration means:
“My theory... I think what with Peter [Davison] having been in, with with Colin [Baker] having been in, I think down the timeline, they all seperated. They all went like that, all the Doctors came back to life, with their original TARDISes, the gift of the Toymaker. They’re all traveling out there, I’m calling it a Doctor-verse. I want to create a future where, you know, Sylvester McCoy survived [the 1996 TV movie] and has an adventure! One of the things about [the first 60th special] “The Star Beast” is to get [David Tennant] back and get Catherine [Tate] back, we have to jump through so many hoops. Which is a great story, but it’s just like... ‘why can’t you just arrive and step out the TARDIS?’”
It wouldn’t be the first time recently that Davies proposed such an idea, either. In Tales of the TARDIS, a special anniversary miniseries cutting down classic Doctor Who episodes with new interstitials from returning Doctors and companions, it’s floated by the various Doctors that there are, in the universe, many intertwined timelines—timelines where, unlike the ones we saw onscreen, incarnations of the Doctor survived their regeneration stories and kept going, offering an explanation as to why Doctors can return looking older than when we saw them “die.” An interpretation then, as Davies put it, that realities can now intersect where all these Doctors, regardless of where they are in their own personal journeys and what we understood to be the end of those journeys, can come back. In one single moment, every Doctor becomes the Doctor forever, versions of themselves echoing out across time and space. It’s huge!
But it also isn’t. Because that’s all it is: an interpretation. None of these details, about what Bigeneration is and isn’t, are sourced from within the primary text itself—Doctor Who, the television show—and perhaps it should stay that way. In fact, part of what makes “The Giggle” so freeing is that all it makes actually explicit about this process is simply what our base understanding of what it is in the first place already was. The Doctor changes faces, and goes on forever. All we’ve added is that those faces can go on forever too, in whatever way we or the show might one day want them to. It might contradict things said in the past; in another 60 year’s time should we be blessed with both a livable planet and the continued health of Doctor Who, a new writer could completely upend “The Giggle” altogether and bring us back to our prior understanding of it all. Or they could do something completely different all over again! We don’t have a logical, scientific, biological breakdown of how the process works, right now Bigeneration is a vibe, a feeling. It is, as the Doctor himself puts it, a myth, and the whole point of myths and their persistence is that the story is retold and reinterpreted by different texts and perspectives across eons.
That’s the magic of Doctor Who, that’s the point of it: it carries on and it grows and it changes, all the time, forever and always. I don’t want to explain to you, reader, what Bigeneration is, because Doctor Who doesn’t want to right now either. For every once in a while, in a very long while when the wind stands fair, Doctor Who simply just ask us to have our own view on something, instead of treating its story as a series of definitive, immutable facts. On its own 60th birthday, it gives us this beautiful gift: to be free to imagine what might be for ourselves.'

GET TO KNOW ME BETTER!
repost / don't reblog
ALIAS / NAME: Wilds is our collective name and it's what I prefer atm since it doesn't make assumptions about who's fronting, but if you want to be super specific you can call me (the one you're usually talking to/the host/the main writer here) Coyote, or pretty much any canine or corvid or other animal-you-feel-is-appropriate themed nickname you can come up with. I can never fully settle on something for myself so. SHRUGS. I don't really have a name of my own as far as I'm concerned. Everyone knows me as different things and I like it that way.
BIRTHDAY: It's in February!
ZODIAC: Pisces
HEIGHT: 5'3. I'm not quite pocket-sized but I'm very easy to hold. Hold me. Please. I make a really good blanket.
HOBBIES: Hmm. I play ukulele (badly) and write poetry and songs sometimes. I sometimes mod breedfiles in a virtual pet game from the 00s for fun. I don't have much in the way of hobbies aside from writing/RPing/character creation otherwise, because I never have... energy...
FAV. COLOUR: Gold but I'm particular about the hue. I like oranges, reds, and yellow-greens too. This of course varies tremendously between system members so I'm very much just speaking for myself here. ☕ likes purples, blacks and greys a lot, for example.
FAV. BOOK: The Bedlam Stacks by Natasha Pulley.
LAST SONG: Maps - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
LAST MOVIE / SHOW: Succ.ession. I'm on like episode 4 or something. I think I had to take a break because it shows some stroke recovery stuff and that's tough for me to watch given what happened with my partner.
RECENT READ: Uhhh I last read The Wake in the mansand series, I think... WAIT no I guess technically it's the Near Dark script LMAO.
INSPIRATION: I'm inspired by music and other people's writing a lot. Poetry and screenplays tend to really spark my muse for some ungodly reason. I don't know man. Really depends on who's around. My system also inspires our writing A Lot TM in ways that are fairly obvious once you get to know us.
STORY BEHIND URL: I knew it was a Corinth.ian centered comic so I stole the title before I'd even read the damn thing. Now I'm super glad I did because that comic is VERY apt for my Corinth in particular. Every time they release a new issue I become more canon.
tagged: @ohsunshine my beloved.
tagging: everyone i know is doing it already let me rest

AEW Dynamite 8/7/24
Head is killing me, neck is killing me, and my jaw tried to pop out while I ate a slice of pizza, so I need this to be a good and/or fun episode
Fletcher is so fun to watch.
MJF's ass is hanging out more than usual tonight?
KYLE IS TRYING SO HARD TO BE SOMRONE OSPREAY CAN BE PROUD OF
Aww the emotions of Ospreay cradling a bleeding Kyle
Mariah vs Viva Van time!
Schiavone grumbling about Nigel being a Mariah simp, and Taz and Excalibur are like "Yeah that figures"
Kiss of death! I know it's an overused trope but I love it.
THAT PICTURE
I love Toni so much
Jack got to have a rage room session, good for him
BRYAN KEITH VS SHIBATA TIME
I am so happy that having his brain scooped gives Shibata like, additional power to the Iron Claw
Hook's back!

SWERVE
"What do you do when none of that works because YOU can't work?" is hitting me very hard right now
Orange mood: medium denim, black shirt, "Jane"
Oh god they're wearing denim and sunglasses, I don't actually hate that
My newest most embarrassing confession is that my new haircut is partially inspired by Cash Wheeler's from a while back
I dig Shayna Wayne's outfit
Kamille in a 2 on 1 match? Nice. Love that they're making her look like an absolute monster. More women should be portrayed as unstoppable forces of nature.
Danielson vs Jarrett time!
Trash fight!
Saw someone point out on Twitter that Jarrett is pulling out everything he can in the name of making sure Bryan is absolutely ready for All In and got weirdly emotional
SWERVE VS YUTA YESSSS
