Redwall Piece supernovas lineup! I am going to yap about them under the cut, but if you want to enjoy just these drawings that's fine! 😊

Okay okay! So, some of these we've seen before but honestly I didn't talk a lot about my assignments and I want to and you know what it's my blog and I should indulge myself! I'll go in order :)

Alright there's fox hawkins, who I've posted before! My reasoning for this one is pretty simple - foxes in redwall are tricky, yes, but they also tend to be seers and fortune tellers! I felt that suited Hawkins' vibe very well. Honestly his is a pretty simple assignment.

Next is Zoro and Luffy and I'm partial to them so here's a picture of just them. Zoro is a badger, and Luffy's a weasel.

Zoro's was the biggest no-brainer of all time. Even if you don't know Redwall I think badger suits him as an animal. In redwall they're generally immensely powerful, somewhat solitary, and most importantly some of 'em have got a very fun affliction called bloodwrath, where when they get very angry in the heat of battle their eyes turn blood red and their vision is overtaken by a red haze and they go totally berserk! Yay! I really like that for Zoro. There's the fun stress revolving around loss of control along with his intense need to protect his friends. Also, his stripe is green. Why? Maybe he rolled in grass. Maybe it's mold. Maybe he was born that way. Yes, Sanji makes fun of it.

Now, Luffy. Luffy's a weasel, and in Redwall the creatures have... archetypes, sort of. There are "Vermin" and there are "Woodlanders" and for the most part these roles are bad and good respectively, with very few grey characters, or characters who break this mold. Weasels are always, always, evil. Now I'm not an elementary schooler so I'm rejecting that, to an extent. Luffy's more textbook selfish, here, and probably a bit more of an asshole, too, but he hoards his friends just as obsessively as in canon! He's less sympathetic towards people he doesn't know, too. Also, I can just imagine him flopping down and twisting and running circles around all his friends and I think that's very cute.

Killer and Kid!!!

So, originally, I had intended to make them both rats. However it was brought to my attention Killer is based off a yokai called kamaitachi, which is a weasel with sickle claws. I liked that a lot, so I sort of channeled it here. His punishers don't spin, but still they're fun. I made him look much more like a stereotypical cartoon weasel than I have for any other mustelid I've drawn, because I really liked the vibe for him.

As for Kid, he just makes a fantastic Massive Rat. Rats, of course, are pretty much fully evil in Redwall, unless they're too stupid to be evil, which happened one time across 22 books. That's fine because Kid is pretty evil. Pirates in redwall are all vermin, so I felt making these pirates vermin wouldn't be so bad.

Drake and Law!

Honestly Drake was mostly just my gut instinct. He's a redhead. Squirrels are red. Squirrels also make pretty brave warriors it seems. They're also "good" creatures, which I think works well with Drake's whole SWORD deal. That blue looks very nice with his orange fur in my opinion. I adore how he turned out.

Law I've drawn before. He's just such a great ferret. Yes, ferrets are evil. But Law's a little evil too so that's fine. I actually gave him his hat this time, good for him!

Bonney and Bege!

Bonney is a hedgehog. Why? I liked it. I think Bonney being able to roll into a spiky ball is fantastic. Hedgehogs are "good" creatures, of course. Also I love her i love her so much. Her spikes are pinkish because well I wanted them to be. Whoever guessed Bonney and Kuma were the badger father and adoptive hedgehog daughter yeah you were right. I'm normal.

Bege's a shrew! Most shrews are "good," with a handful of exceptions. They usually run in groups of a bunch of shrews, generally on rivers. I also took some inspiration from that one shrew from zootopia because that felt somewhat similar.

Lastly, Apoo and Urouge!

Apoo I've drawn before, he's a goose! Some geese have funny poofy feathers on their head. He has that. The brown is not feathers, but rather something kind of like hair extensions, made from... I dunno. Something brown, obviously. Apoo honks at people and chases them and he's really annoying.

Urouge was.... hard. He's the only supernova without much screentime. I wanted him to be a bird but my options were limited... so I settled on a sparrow. Why? I dunno. They're pretty good warriors so he has that going for him. I think visually he turned out cute even if his species choice feels the weakest.

VERY ticklish obv

tickle spot is probably his tummy and hips

like Draco, he isn't used to being tickled at all, unless it was in a mean way, so he's a little wary about being tickled

his friends made it better tho

he does the folding lawn chair thing when he's tickled when standing - he just collapses

super squirmy, even if he's not really trying to get away

has an adorable laugh, very giggly and a little on the quieter side

he's 50/50 with tickling, he likes it sometimes, while other times he'll whack the person repeatedly until they stop

he's often a target of the Weasley twins too, if he's with Ron when they go on a rampage they're absolutely both getting destroyed

he and Hermione were on the recieving end of a ticklish initiation done by the twins when they visited them over the summer - and nearly every day afterwards

he actually enjoys tickling others, he's not very good at it, but he likes to try!

he and Ron get into tickle fights disturbingly often - it usually ends with Ron winning, but there have been a few occasions where Harry is able to pin him down and just go ham on his feet

has tried to tickle Hermione a few times, and it never ends well for him

since finding out in their second year that Draco was ticklish, Harry likes to very discreetly tickle him whenever he gets the chance and then act like he's doing nothing of the sort

Ron complains to Harry a lot about how his brothers tickle him relentlessly, which accidentally has opened Harry to many effective ways to tickle him

Ron:

very experienced lee if that makes sense

he's pretty used to being tickled half to death by his brothers, so he knows exactly when to run away, where to hide, and how to defend himself if he's threatened with tickles

he is extremely ticklish, and probably most sensitive on his foots and sides

SO giggly, and he has the cutest boyish laugh ever - he also squeals and squeaks like crazy

doesn't usually mind being tickled by his friends, they're not as mean as his brothers

kicks like crazy even if his feet aren't being tickled

very wiggly, and it's very difficult to pin him down cuz he knows how to escape

def the type to scream bloody murder if he's poked

just because he attends Hogwarts does not in any way mean that his brothers let up on tickling him - if anything, they do it more since their parents aren't there to stop them

he is very often the victim of brutal tickle attacks from the twins, they'll chase him about the halls, catch him by suprise, magically tickle him in class so he gets in trouble, everything

he's also an incredible ler, but he doesn't usually use his skills often

being one of the youngest siblings means that he's picked up almost every tickle tactic known to man

he's not a malicious ler at all, so he usually backs away from tickling others, unless he's in the right mood, in which case… run

he will, however, give tips on how and where to tickle when others are tickling his friends (or Draco)

he very casually knows everyone's tickle spots and what gets them the most, he just knows what to look for

the only one he'll willingly tickle on a somewhat regular basis is Harry - he's too scared of Hermione

the only one really bold enough to tickle her is Harry, sneaking a squeeze on her knee when they're studying (usually only to be blasted with rictusempra directly after)

is more of a kicker than a squirmer - she's definitely whacked both Harry and Ron in the face several times

as they got older, Ron began to fiddle around with her hair when they're hanging out and she'll let out a few squeaks if he accidentally brushes her neck

she's a mean ler - she's studied tickling spells and charms and stuff extensively to have in her back pocket in case her friends annoy her

she has absolutely shot a tickling charm at Draco during one of their classes to get him in trouble more than once - he's never been able to figure out who it is

she'll threaten Harry and Ron with tickles so that they study fjdshjkf

OK. I've been seeing this trend recently using this song (Em Sem Você). It's a Portuguese song that I'm like 99% sure has to do with a break up and how you handle that & not knowing how you'll act/be like when you're out of the relationship. HOWEVER. I also saw this song used with Squrrielflight & Leafpool, so I was like "oh my God this song is Ivypool & Dovewing" but then, a greater idea floated in my head...."This is Ashfur and Ferncloud." They're my favorite characters OKAY leave me alone 😭.

Anyway. I think some of the lyrics represent them pretty well. Mostly with my own versions of them bc, as usual, my imagination is bigger than what the actual series gives us.

I'm just giving the English translations here bc that's easier:

Under my interpretation of course. This is about how, after Ashfur died (aka was murdered by Hollyleaf) a part of Ferncloud died. Even after she learned about how much of a GIANT incel he was, she feels deeply upset by his lose. She wonders how she'll live without her twin brother (that's also a thing I hc btw,,) or who she'll become. Will she be different? It feels like a hole is missing from her soul.

She's afraid that up in Starclan, Ashfur will forget her. Maybe she even suspects she wasn't that important to Ashfur at all, due to his actions he committed in life that she learned about.

"Will he forget I ever existed? Will my face in his mind disappear into the winds of Starclan? Because was I really that important to him?"

Ferncloud can't sleep days, week, months after Ashfur was murdered. Although she's a Perma Queen, Ashfur would sleep next to her still (mostly so he could get away from Squrrielflight in the Warriors den, this is also headcanon btw this didn't happen canonically). Ferncloud didn't fully see how unhappy Ashfur was in life, she was happy but he wasn't. She's become so depressed and lonely, even if she has friends, without her twin.

Everyone knows Ashfur got murdered at this point, especially they know it was Hollyleaf because she spilled it out during a Gathering (I'm pretty sure?). Ferncloud doesn't want to think about "what happened" (Ashfur's murder, plus Hollyleaf's outburst and death as well as confessing to murdering Ashfur). She's angry at Hollyleaf, but since Hollyleaf is (presumably) dead she has nobody but herself to direct that anger towards. At the same time she thinks about the cats he hurt, Squrrielflight, Lionblaze, Jayfeather, Hollyleaf, maybe even other cats...she cannot stay truly mad at Hollyleaf. But she can stay mad at herself.

There's no point in thinking about what happened because she doesn't even want to think about it. She's suffering without Ashfur next to her...but he hurt so many cats and she feels that guilt of wishing he was still alive.

was answering someone, accidentally wrote a full ass ✨️anti-James Potter Manifecto✨️, then noticed I can't reblog the OP... But decided that it deserves to be posted anyway. The points therefore are in a seemingly random order, but bear with me.

Disclamer: I know that people who do awful things can also have good qualities. Sirius grosses me out if my mind, but I admit he has some positives and can be liked for them. My problem with James is that he objectively has very little good deeds. He could be an SAer and a shitty fuck with some admirable qualities too, but he... isn't. You people just want to praise a rich aristocrat for what's not even a bare minimum.

Not to say that him being a good friend to Remus included letting him out of the Shack where he could've killed someone and laughing at it (all of them are gross for that, James included. Remus would've been so "helped" if he killed or infected a person. No wonder Sirius brought it just one step further so easily!) and yapping loudly about his lycanthropy; and to Peter – degrading him and playing him for a joke. And oh yeah, he "saved" Snape from being killed – I wonder how had Sirius managed to dehumanize Snape to the extent where he considered Snape's life unimportant? No James' part in it, I'm sure. Not to add that he used it to paint himself as a hero, knowing full well that the victim can't speak the truth, and later sexually assaulted that very same person, and that it had saved his two friends from Sirius' idiocy – so it was James' best interest (it's funny how they imagine James "saving" Snape. yeah, sure, that's how he'd talk to a boy he doesn't even consider a person with rights to his own body: "oh don't go Severus, it's dangerous!". also to be clear, animagi James was in no danger himself at all). And liking your friends is not... a virtue... it's a minimum..... just as with that "gave Remus money" thing which is not even in the books, but even if we count it as canon – this is the LEAST a loaded privileged person can do! Being filthy rich and sharing some money is not a virtue, stop praising the rich for the things they're obliged to do!

The thing is that James wasn't even a particularly good parent or husband! It's already dumb to say "someone is a good person just because they love their family and friends even though they are a piece of sadistic shit" because Vernon and Lucius are RIGHT THERE – but James didn't show any respect for Lily as a person, he'd been a total prick towards her; and the only good thing he did to Harry was... playing with him I guess? And saying he'd "hold off Voldemort", which was dumb, considering he had no wand, Lily supposedly had no place to run since she wasted time blocking the door with a chair instead, and the whole betrayal thing (and the lack of Invisibility Cloak accessible) was a direct result of James' arrogance! Again – this was his own family. Loving your own family is not something one should be praised for lmfao.

James Potter's only good deeds were being a good friend to (a fucking psycho) Sirius Black, and being a part of the Order where Mundungus Fletcher also was so idk how heroic it is per se (also, being anti-bad people doesn't automatically make you good, not to say that in every war there would be sadistic jerks, who use it to vent their aggression, on both sides. you can fight the right wing and be a shit of a person!), and following beliefs James' parents had, not differently to Regulus or Draco – he just got luckier. That's it, I fear.

Also on the "defied Voldemort thing" – we don't even know what that means. We know he and Lily refused to join DEs, does that count? Does a marriage of a Pureblood and a Muggleborn count – it defies Voldemort's ideals! We don't ever see or even directly hear about James' encounters with DEs (aside from hp prequel I guess) or Voldemort, so sorry, not counting things I don't know about. anyway, stan Horace Slughorn, a man who canonically fought Voldemort himself.

James’ bad deeds were choking people with soap and publically undressing them without their consent (a Muggle raised boy with Muggle surname, for "existing" no less), using illegal spells, letting out werewolves, blackmailing girls and ignoring their refusals, being sexist and classist and lookist and pathetically toxic macho man, hexing people for fun, lying to his girlfriend about leaving her ex-friend alone, taking part in constructing a stalkering map, leaving his wife and infant in the Fidelius hidden house to go play heroes on a bike with Sirius, deciding that Pettigrew was useless enough to be a better secret keeper than Sirius or (so conveniently distrusted werewolf) Remus or James himself or even Albus Dumbledore.... And considering he had all the privileges and possible means to become someone like Cedric Diggory, that's not even funny how people excuse him.

(painting having a kid at 20 while being a soldier and participating in a war as a good thing and not as being clinically insane is a choice. With all the respect for Harry and Teddy, James Potter and Remus Lupin should've discovered condoms)

King of Soph but it's Saturday morning cartoon villain Sophist accidentally falling for the King of Skill while trying to take over his kingdom (HEAVY yapping this time, probably just storytelling) (They kiss at the end, promise)

Sophist has been planning for months to wreak havoc on the Kingdom of Skill. The kingdom already knows of his existence due to his constant mischief. His acts are usually light inconveniences rather than major catastrophes, so they're shocked to find out that he somehow managed to kidnap their king and take him away to the Sophisticated Society.

Brent was conscious the entire time, only tied up with a bag over his head. When Sophist has finally settled him and himself in his secret lair, Sophist removes the bag on Brent's head and gets a good look at his face for the first time. He's stunned and flustered into forgetting what he planned to say at the sheer beauty of the king in front of him, only snapping back to his senses after the king angrily demands for answers

Sophist struggles to get his thoughts together, which does not go unnoticed by Brent, who is caught off-guard by the sudden change in behavior for the man who just kidnapped him. Brent teases him mildly which causes Sophist to get defensive and begin saying what he originally wanted to say, revealing his plan to Brent and telling him that he plans to keep Brent tied up as his kingdom gets taken over. Brent knows he'll be fine since his people have probably already noticed he's gone missing and are sending people to retrieve him soon, so he just mentally notes everything Sophist is saying. He can't help but find Sophist endearing, but he quickly shakes that thought away.

Sophist is plagued with heavy mental turmoil as he has to constantly see the king every day to make sure he's okay to make sure he's still there in the cell he left him in. He refuses to let himself feel hesitation for his actions. Brent, meanwhile, is surprisingly comfortable for being trapped in a cell. It has soft pillows and blankets left for him by Sophist, which Brent had conflicted thoughts on. To make matters more interesting for both sides, the cell is in the same location as Sophist's laboratory, allowing them to converse every day and learn more about each other. Sophist is in heavy denial as he falls more and more for the king, learning about their similar struggles of stress and boredom as well as overall loving his personality. Brent's in a similar boat, really learning to appreciate Sophist and, to his regret, relating and warming up to him a lot. They find solace in each other and Sophist ends up visiting him just to talk.

Sophist is really ignoring his plan now and making up excuses for himself as to why. It doesn't help that his minions are also eager to know his next move, to which he replies with "I assure you, I am thinking long and hard about this" (he's not). Sophist then comes up with a brilliant idea to "fool Brent into thinking that they're friends (they are), which will leave him vulnerable to his final attack on his kingdom before he takes it over". It's really just an excuse to cover up for the fact that he's gotten so close to the king and also bc he realized that Brent's people have almost arrived at his lair to take their king back and that he has to let him go.

Sophist (reluctantly) takes Brent back to his kingdom while saying that he's a changed man and that he doesn't want to harm the Kingdom of Skill ever again. Brent silently chuckles knowing that he's lying and that he's going to prepare his kingdom for an oncoming attack. He gives Sophist one more warm smile before walking away, to which he notices the sudden reddening in Sophist's face. Brent smiles to himself, his insides warming at the sight.

Couple days later, Brent's taking a short walk (he and his kingdom well prepped for anything sudden) to clear his mind when he, to his surprise, runs into Sophist, who looks highly troubled. Brent asks him what he's doing here to which Sophist hurriedly tells him not to worry about it. Brent of course worries about it and asks him again, knowing that their places are so far away from each other so there's no way he's here for no reason. Sophist then admits that he had planned for so long to take control of Brent's kingdom and to someday rule the world, but lately he's just been so conflicted with his feelings and he doesn't know why he hesitates to actually go through with his plan. He accidentally let's the detail slip that this all started ever since he met Brent, admitting that he grew deeply attached to Brent and couldn't help himself.

Brent, absolutely endeared by this confession, can't help but confess his mental conflict too. They sit next to each other and just talk for a little while to really express themselves to each other. Brent leans closer and rests his hand on top of Sophist's, both of their hearts fluttering and their faces warming. Fighting their shyness, they both gaze into each other's eyes, smiling warmly. Brent leans in even closer, both of their hearts beginning to race. They look at each other one more time before they both lean in and finally kiss.

I have no idea how to continue on from here so uhhhhh up to yall I guess? 😀

So, first of all, love that we're taking advantage of Sophist being a cartoony villain. His mission is to take over the world, which is so unrealistic but go off king.

Sophist being in shocked of how hot Brent is is so real, I was also like that when I first saw him /hj

Them slowly growing fond of each other and finding out that they have similar struggles is so gooooood, it's my favorite trope when the villain and the "hero" find out they're more similar than they would like to admit.

It's especially funny when Sophist tries to convince the goombas that this is all part of his master plan. I'm sure that some of them were raising eyebrows at how close their leader and the King are.

Him later returning Brent hesitantly because he wants more time with Brent but also needing time because he is conflicted with his own feelings... 💔 (This is the only way I can show my feeling fuck you/j) (Also I think he realized what his feelings towards Brent were when he blushed at his smile).

And the end... A KING OF SOPH STORY THAT ENDS WITH THEM SMOOCHING!!! They have become more common but that doesn't mean I can't be happy everytime it happens.

There's a certain CCCC summary video that we really, really like. We think it is a great video for people if they want to grasp the story more clearly, if they're confused, or if they're listening to the album for the first time.

That video being Chonny Jash and the Weight of the Mind on Youtube by W3tBl@nk3t. We think they cover it really well.

However, I'm sharing this for a different reason; they say few certain things that really struck with us until now, that I'd like to share with the fandom. Sometimes, we see people really just.. Miss the point of CCCC entirely, and I'd like to shine a light on what was said here. If you'd like to hear this for yourself on video, the timestamp is 35:57-36:45.

1.) The side of you that suffers; Heart. He is representative of Whole's emotions, he holds them. Your emotions can go haywire, especially when one's mentally ill and has no way of their feelings being validated. An emotional person like Heart suffers under the weight of crushing, devastating feelings. He wants to feel things out, have time to just process everything, even if it takes them days or weeks to get over it. It's not healthy, but feeling is what he does, and he wants to help because he knows he has importance. Solely focusing on just your emotions isn't the best thing to do, however.

2.) The side of you that so desperately wants you to get over it; Mind. Many people have been there, have wanted themselves to stop wallowing in their own emotions and just do something else, even to the point where you think feeling things out is unnecessary. This is also unhealthy, but not intentionally. Like Heart, Mind just wants to help, everything he does is in best interest. It's your thoughts against your emotions, basically; your feelings contradict your thoughts, and it leads to an inner war of sorts. This won't make things better, which is why you can't have Mind over Heart or vice versa; you'll need both of them. In the album, they are only able to be whole when they get along. They harmonize, they 'combine', they see eye to eye with each other and work together instead of fighting over and over. Inner compromise is achieved with this, and acceptance can lead them away from any disaster that there's to come.

What we're trying to say is that mental health is a large thing tackled within CCCC, and yet we see a lot of people who overlook it; thus, end up missing the point of the whole album. We see a lot of people believe Mind's perspective a little too much and treat Heart quite harshly, or the other way where people demonize Mind and say that Heart is perfect, when it's not really that in the slightest.

This is not a hate post towards people's interpretations of CCCC or how they view characters, I'm just saying that people can tend to overlook what's in the very narrative, and we see a concerning amount of people do such.

I've already talked a bit about colours here and here, but I always feel like drawing methods is a pretty endless topic so I'll see what else I can whip out! :3c I feel like I've been on a colour struggle bus for the last couple weeks, so this might also be my own trying to pull my thoughts together a little bit, I hope that's ok!

actually I'm just gonna start with one random thought and try to pull it into other thoughts??

so my beginning thought here is "accuracy to reference material isn't that important"

making sure that your colours work well together is a lot more important than them being accurate and it goes a long way in creating a mood. since I feel like bright colours suits my art better I sometimes worry about desaturating them too much, but I think it can also make smth look warmer and somewhat brighter in it's own way. (in this case Demifiend's tatoos get to stay bright bc theyøre supposed to be neon anyway.)

imo that also goes into the same thought of like. just bc smth is grey or black or white or yellow or whatever in a design that doesn't mean you can't still draw it somewhat correctly with different tones if you just keep consistent. These aren't the greatest examples since I think the values are a pretty messy But I do think they were really good practice for colour picking! hmm they also aren't very bright which is what you asked about, but I still think doing that type of stuff works as a good reminder you can go ham with stuff without having it look necessarily unreal

and remembering that, makes experimenting with random bright colours a lot less daunting. I also think that you can get pretty far with picking an assortment of colours that you personally think look good together and then trying to work them into where they fit best!

actually hold on I didn't rly know what I was saying and I don't rly know what I'm doing with art lately either but I put my different Nanas together and it's actually pretty interesting to just tap around them with the eyedrop tool!

some of these are a lot closer than I thought and some are a lot more different than I thought!

as a complete alternative to not caring about accuracy to reference, but for something similar, I think working with limited palettes have also been super helpful for me! it helps in finding out what kinds of colour combinations I personally like, and I think figuring out good places to reuse colours is super fun!

this is my only example that's not Mega old but smth like that! it can be rly fun to skip out on white too! I don't remember if I pulled these colours out randomly or not, but there are lots of places to find random palettes online!

EDIT BC UUUUUH. REALIZING LATE I DIDN'T RLY SAY ANYTHING ABOUT MY PROCESS I JUST KINDA ADDED TO THOSE OTHER 2 POSTS UUUUH... The second post I linked has a link to a random speedpaint of mine that pretty much shows I just keep adjusting until the colours look right. For background stuff the best I can do is dig up some old tegaki screenshots of wips but they don't rly show much ?? And I still just trial and error my way through like I just keep testing colours until it works ok tbh
