I know a lot happened in volume 3, but we're kind of ignoring Quill coming back to earth. He's living on earth for the first time in almost 40 years. You know how much he missed? At some point he probably visited or saw a picture of NYC and was like "hey I don't see the twin towers" and Jason Quill had to sit down his 40 year old grandson and teach him about 9/11.

so one of the things that annoys me endlessly is this phenomenon where, when I say I like something, people assume that means I want more of it, a different version of it, add-ons and bells and whistles, and i'm just like

no.

no, when I say I like tea, I mean I like tea. Not herbal tisanes, not "tea with--", no milk, no sugar, no fruit, no frills, just good-quality tea in a range of fermentations and colours.

when I say I like a hot bath, I mean the bath. Not bubble-bath, not bath oils and foams and salves and unguents, not candlelight and music and a zen space to sensually relax with a book and a glass of wine, just a hot bath in a normally-lit bathroom where I can unwind and get clean.

when I say I like beer, I mean I like beer. Not fruit-flavoured, not with a special something-something added, for the love of GOD not sweetie-flavoured, just a well-brewed ale or stout in a simple pint glass, in good company.

and that isn't because there's anything WRONG with the add-ons! these are not bad things! I know that for some people, a tea advent calendar with different herbal blends, or a luxurious foamy scented bath with candles and music, is what they mean by "I like tea" and "I like baths". but it would just be nice if when I asked for a green tea, people didn't assume I mean "with..."

saw elemental on a whim, and it was cute! i need to tell everyone that the marketing was totally off the mark, though you could probably have guessed. the romance was secondary to the main plot which was actually about the father-daughter relationship and immigrant experience.

Okay so, I think people really need to learn the difference between Th*mas and B*bba. Th*mas is the one with the facial deformities which leads to him wearing people's faces (interestingly enough, only male face) whereas the Bubster is the one that has no facial deformities (I believe this is confirmed by the writers!) but still wears faces (two women and one man(?))

I think both characters can be incredibly interesting to think about because they are so different! But everyone likes to mash them together, and idk. I like them being separate! I think it's incredibly fascinating that Th*mas wears the masks to give himself essentially a new face. One of my favorite parts from the remake is when Sheriff H*yte sees Th*mas after putting on a new mask and says something like, "I like your new face." and Th*mas kinda looks away. I think that is an incredibly interesting look into Th*mas. See, I know I don't talk about the remake here a lot, but sometimes I do ponder it. Much like the third movie, I would have enjoyed the remake a lot more if it wasn't trying to be part of t*m, but something just heavily inspired by it. Also, I find it INCREDIBLY fascinating how much more "masculine" they wanted Th*mas to be. I'm sure if my brain was working, I could write a whole much more about this and what I think it means, but🤭 my brain isn't working.

Now, onto my beloved B*bs, I think it's incredibly fascinating that he wears literal face masks even though his face doesn't have any sort of deformities. I know it's speculated that he wears masks in order to help him fill roles. He wears the grandma get-up when he is trying to make dinner and whatnot. Changes into his pretty woman mask when it was time for dinner+they had S*lly as a guest, and some people think he's mimicking what he saw his grandmother do when they'd have people over and so and so. I really want to know how it started. I refuse to accept the game's stupid ass reasoning for B*bs to start wearing faces lmao. So I wonder, what made him do it? How did it happen? I always imagine it being after the slaughterhouse firings and whatnot. Because that seems to be when everything kind of went downhill, particularly for this family.

Anyway, I lost my train of thought, and I know I'm not making sense anymore. But I really wish people would let B*bba and Th*mas exist as their own characters because they both are incredibly fascinating.

Seeing all the Disney and Pixar sequels lined up in the D23 Expo is kind of depressing. Are people not allowed to have imagination anymore? Can we not let a movie end and and be satisfied with our own ideas about what happens next? It feels so explicitly clear that companies want to hand-hold every facet of our experiences of fiction, yet everyone eats it up.
