OBVIOUSLY there is a lot of nuance to this considering the horrendous state of US education for children, and how it varies so drastically depending on the state, town, etc. it is based within. But SOMETIMES when I see people not know certain BASIC historical, geographic, scientific things and then say "they never taught this in school". I have to wonder if they did, but you just forgot.
#like idk you can admit you forgot/weren't paying attention#again because I know people will state it I KNOW there is nuance and that US education is at a dire state#but also there are LOTS of things that I remember being talked about in school growing up because I was a nerd and read all my req reading#and even back then I'd have friends saying 'we didn't learn this at school' WE DID 😭 that is how I even know about it 😭#squack

#I actually did learn about this in school because it was part of an essay I had to read for a vocab textbook LMAO#but I'm counting that as the 1% and I am a nerd so I doubt most of my peers would have remembered this

obviously its scary as hell being a trans person in the united states rn but it drives me completely insane watching both (white) allies and other (white) trans people pull the First They Came For Us shtick. like. i think they may have come for some other people first actually. its possible there's another vulnerable and exploited minority that's been subject to dramatically more severe state violence for much longer that are currently and factually being rounded up in camps about it.
and that's not to say that it's at all unreasonable to be afraid for our safety and wellbeing even as white trans people rn esp as the walls close in and the sociopolitical superstructure integrates more and more anti-trans rhetoric into itself But it truly burns me the fuck up watching, for example, notable (white) public figures attempt to defend us on a national stage by invoking the idea that up until now our beautiful democracy hasn't been directly assaulting and displacing any group, that If We Cross This Line, Who Knows What Could Be Next. like buddy we crossed that line a very long time ago and anyone subject to being on the other side of it could have told you what was going to happen next. unfortunately none of those people up until now have had enough whiteness in their ranks to be considered The First They Came For.

We really gotta stop being "nice" or "understanding" to people that use AI.
Oh? You use AI to make art or write? Ok! I think you are therefore inherently lazy, ethically unsound, and uncreative! Sorry if that is "mean", but what else am I supposed to think when you admit you need a computer to do work for you? Oh? you're saying it is the same as hiring an editor? I don't see you paying your laptop for this "service". Ohhhh I see. It is because you don't WANT to pay someone for that. Still though, you don't NEED an editor or whatever to write something. You hardly need any of that to create visual art. There isn't a price tag for creating. How could something like that be stopping you from making it yourself unless you actually have so little care for the craft you so desperately want to be a part of.
#genuinely people should start hurting these people's feelings more#idc#if you are so sensitive to this judgement actually create something with your head#also using ai your work will always be shit no matter what I haven't found a single AI piece that has actually been insighful or with depth#it is made to exclusively replicate so of course it isn't going to challenge anything in an interesting or unique way#even AI work that doesn't have the usual tell tale signs of it being generative once it becomes revealed it just pulls down the piece#do you REALLY want to be known for doing this as opposed to actually creating things yourself?? it boggles my mind#I also don't gaf about you saying 'oh but I am so busy I can't do all this work on my own it cuts time it is a disability aid'#first of all there are plenty of people out there who struggle with these things but still can create things on their own#yes it might take longer or look different compared to the work usually made by those not bogged down by this stuff#but that is what MAKES these things uniquely theirs!!#we are literally at an age where you can publish a book independently or post art on your own and have BUNCHES of people see it#it has never been more easy to access creative work in all of history#and you're still acting like it is too 'expensive' to do traditional routes?#I don't think this is elitist at all...maybe it is but idc#AI is not going to be the helper to the regular man that can't afford things because it has already been embraced by billionaires#who want to use it AGAINST common people#I don't think using it because 'it is too expensive to pay someone for x' will be the gotcha you think it is down the line#squack

Do you have any thoughts on Todd? Like why he spends his time terrorizing little fifteen year olds. Why Beavis and Butthead are so enamoured with him?
I typed this up and then ended up having more to say than I thought I did! so my first thought with regards to him is that Beavis and Butt-Head are both probably so used to their moms' version of love being a blend of neglect and abuse that they genuinely link that to how Todd treats them? and they find familiarity and comfort in that treatment, which is why Beavis doesn't like it when people are too nice to him, and why he's offput by Keith, for example. I don't think they look up to him in a paternal way or anything obviously but there's a lot of familiarity with Todd and his behavior already because of their families, and the boys also really admire his toxic masculinity. he's the epitome of cool. he does whatever he wants, doesn't care about anyone else's feelings, scores with lots of chicks, and gets away with everything. I think the boys admire him as much as they crush on him, and they want to BE him as much as they want him to like them in return, to validate their version of cool and to have someone as cool as Todd think they're cool too.
I think maybe they think if they were more like todd, their lives wouldn't feel as shitty. they do get away with a lot already just because other people don't seem to care, but I think Todd has an active approach to life and getting what he wants without people caring that the boys would love to someday emulate, and the only way they can express that urge with all their little teenage hormones is by crushing on him. whereas the boys just kinda do things and people passively happen not to care. they roll with the punches whereas Todd is the one who chooses when to throw them, and they want that for themselves.
now, as for Todd? it's not like he necessarily willingly spends all his free time with the boys, they tend to bother him quite honestly. but it is very skeevy how he tends to seek them out at times, simply because he knows they're vulnerable. he's probably picked up on the fact nobody cares about them so they're easy to bully and get things from and use them for stuff like their house and as punching bags. sometimes they give him money, and they don't even complain about it. he tells them to do something and they do it without question. there are no adults to kick Todd's ass if he fucks with them or fucks them up, and he's able to get a lot of his anger out on them. I imagine that cycle of power is hard to break, especially when everyone involved is unfortunately having a good time. todds toxic masculinity and Beavis and buttheads approval of it feed off each other, so that's why I think his cycle of abuse works--even though it's clearly not right.
plus he sweet talks them, and isn't always mean about it either, which doesn't help them to see Todd's bullying and abuse as what it is--they really do think (at least for a while!) that Todd wants to turn them into little versions of himself, or that Todd likes them, or that Todd sees value in them and will someday include them as part of his gang, but that they're just not there yet. when they first meet he lies and tricks them just for fun, because they see him being an asshole but then he's nice to them, so they really were hooked from the get go into thinking they had a chance.
i think later on they start to pick up on Todd not really caring for them though, like when they have that episode that says forget Todd, let's just make our own gang instead of being in his, which is so interesting considering how much they admire him. I'm not sure if it was a growth moment so much as a "Todd has been teasing the puppy dogs with an offer of treats for too long and they realize they'll never get the treat" so they just kinda give up?
that's partially why I think he hasn't really been in the new season and if he wasn't here at all I might be grateful? just because they kinda wrapped his shit up a while back--but I still kinda wanna see him! it feels like Beavis has been more open about his attraction to men lately, I wonder if being in 2022 where it's pretty normalized would change anything? he sees Todd and it sparks the LGBT conversation within their home? 🤔 he's such a key component into the boys openly showing us they can have full, romantic, teenage crushes on another guy. his role in the show is as integral as it is depressing. lol!
thank you for asking, it means a lot! sorry this got so long!
