Yay, finished with DS! I’m happy i gave Death Strandiing a shot after being skeptical I’d ever like it with how much negativity surrounds it, but now I can’t figure out how to ever recommend or describe it, since pretty much all criticism surrounding it is true. the writing and naming is sometimes atrocious, there’s hours of cutscenes stacked atop each other with lengthy complicated plot, the game is mostly walking or slowly driving in silence for 50-100+ hours, most of the side characters are forgettable and celebrity cameos, ‘Mario and Princess Beach,’ etc. However, it’s fantastic and weird, please play it
#I only skimmed through some of the popular negative reviews but also talked with friends about how none of us had any interest in the game#and the DS 2 trailer brought some of that attention and excitement back#tbh the walking sim complaint is the one I’ve come across the most when that’s easily the best part of the entire game#…if you like walking that is lol#in terms of the writing it’s more of a mixed bag but I’m slightly desensitized after playing a lot of metalgear#it’s also sometimes cheesy and bad in a good way and sometimes in a bad way. never know what you’re gonna get#basically I understand why it’s hated but now that I like it I wish more people did lmao

thinking back to it, i know he got scanned by kojima productions again last year, but story wise, why would the veteran porter would make a return if the sequel’s focusing on delivering to different places and it seems the UCA is relying more on bots. maybe it was for his other game in the works

#continuing my death stranded journey#I just got 5 stars with him. now I only have to get the first prepper to 5 stars (the biggest challenge of the game)#I love the ridiculous holograms. conans and this one are my favorite for the general side NPCs#hi Mr Payne#it’s fun that Veteran Porter used to work under Higgs#I wonder if these side characters to deliver to will make a return in the sequel or if the recent scans of Lake were for that other Kojima#Productions game being made (I forget the name)

nearing the end of death strandiing (I think) and had to switch to normal mode for the BT whale fight 🤕
#I was getting really annoyed at it and normal was sm better lmao#the higgs fight was incredible but that was because it was hand to hand#sometimes the weapons are *really* difficult to aim and control esp when the triggers to shoot#are ALSO the ones to keep balance#so I kept accidentally shooting or tripping#but whatever it’s over now. and deadman could practically kiss me 😤♥️#continuing my death stranded journey

diehardmans actor has SUCH a good voice. for a character who was there primarily to direct sam to deliveries with a corporate, neutral tone, his backstory reveal scenes with Cliff and Amelie’s birth packed a punch, thanks largely to the emotion he put in every word.

the particle of god! the higgs sam fight was a struggle on hard mode, but that made the fist fight afterwards 10000x more satisfying holy shit. amazing fight and I loved seeing Fragile punch him at the end (even with the occasionally VERY cheesy dialogue). She deserved that moment. it was almost heartwarming to see Sam smile and laugh after beating the shit out of Higgs <3 Now, everyone’s together (Sam, Amelie, Fragile) to see what’ll happen next!
#taking a quick break to post this because that fight took awhile#I have to play on hard mode to remind myself that I need to get better at gaming#😭#it WAS worth it in this case. like with M.G.S.1 sometimes a fist fight for a boss battle is the best + most emotional#no idea what the hell is happening with Amelie though#continuing my death stranded journey
