Ponify Your Horizons Lore

Ack! I just posted but the promise of being able to share my lore with everyone was too great. This au is a fun one and I think it deserves to have its lore written out for everyone to enjoy. Buckle up, this one is a long one. And as always, let me know what you think. I love hearing from people!

Some basic things out of the way. Every breed (earth pony, pegasus, and unicorn) can use magic to some extent. Unicorns are much better at it and have much wider variety though, earth ponies and pegasi can only do like one spell each.

The Main Trio:

Liko: She's a young unicorn from a small town going to school in the big city. One day she was given a mysterious jewel (the Element of Magic) by her grandma and she became determined to figure out what is was. Especially after some strange unicorn and his Kirin lackies attacked her to try and get it. She doesn't have her cutie mark yet, but she shows an aptitude for empathetic magics such as being able to assess other's emotions and shield spells.

Roy: He's an earth pony colt from a small town with a love of adventure. He's always wanted to travel the world, like the pegasi do. He hasn't gotten his cutie mark yet but he shows an interest in navigation, using the soil as his guide. He met Liko when she was trying to hide from that strange unicorn.

Dot: She's an earth pony filly travelling with the RVT. Her mother sent her there when she failed to find her cutie mark anywhere at home. She's not too thrilled and mostly stays holed up in her room. She does show an interest in mechanics however. Liko is obsessed with being her friend and helping her find her cutie mark. Dot developed a crush on her because of this.

The RVTS:

Friede: He's a pegasus who rescued Liko and Roy from that mysterious unicorn and his Kirin. He promised to help Liko find out what her pendant really was and when they do, help her find the remaining Elements of Harmony. His magic allows him to shoot lightning from his wings.

Orla: She'd a pegasus who maintains the ship as its handywoman. Her magic allows her to create tailwinds with her winds, aiding in flying the ship.

Murdock: He's and earth pony who cooks for the crew and primarily takes care of Dot. His magic allows him to rapidly grow plant life, bringing them to harvest ready status.

Mollie: She's a unicorn and is the medic of the crew. Her magic is all healing focused, knowing a great many spells to heal all sorts of ailments. Liko really looks up to her.

Lucius: Lucius was a unicorn who ended up befriending five other creatures, all not ponies. They traveled the lands as the best of friends collectively growing to be known as the Six Heroes. Among this group was Gibeon, though he was rarely included. One day this group went to a place called Paradise (Area Zero) to stop a great evil. Paradise was a haven inhabited by a strange breed of unicorn who utilized paradox magics. In the depths of Paradise, they found a tree holding six colorful stones, the Elements of Harmony. When the Six Heroes vanquished the evil with these Elements, Lucius ascended and became an alicorn, promising to always protect the peace.

Gibeon: He's a unicorn the accompanied the Six Heroes on their journeys, assisting them in battle but never truly being recognized. He was furious when the Elements did not choose him as a barer, but the light of its magic did grant him with immortality. He rejected Lucius and ran away to live in Paradise, studying the Elements tirelessly, trying to figure out how he may gain their power and ascend as well. Eventually it struck him that he just could not do it alone and he needed five saps to help him.

The Explorers:

Amethio: He's a unicorn born in Paradise and is Gibeon's younger son. He was trained day and night since he was little on how to use his magic and on how he needs to acquire the Elements. He had two Kirin help him train. His magics allow him to control shadows as if they were tangible things, even being able to set them on fire, hence his cutie mark. He's serious and rarely has time for fun, even though Zirc and Onia try to be there for him.

Spinel: He's a unicorn from the outside (aka not Paradise). He likes to think of himself as the master of all magics, although it frustrates him to no end that he cannot fathom paradox magic. He specializes is surveillance spells such as camera like orbs of magic, hypnosis, and mind reading. No one really trusts him but he is in charge of the airship they use to travel around the region.

Coral: She's a pegasus from the outside. She's wild, likes to fight, and barely listens to what she's told. She's often used for scouting purposes although she wished she could do something more fun. Her magic allows her to create blizzards with her wings.

Sidian: He's a unicorn born in Paradise and is Gibeon's older son. He was trained from the day he was born on how to locate gemstones and that became his special magic. His horn is shattered so his gem finding spell is the only one he can use, all the others just explode. His magics allow him to read and utilize the resonance of the gemstones he finds, allowing him to absorb their inherent magic and fire it through his hooves. He is know as the Secret Weapon of the Explorers due to them using him to find the Elements and generally being the most powerful, though his magic can be difficult to aim upwards. He is more often than not forced to stay on the airship.

Chalce: She is an earth pony from the outside. She's the level headed one, working together with Spinel to come up with plans for the Explorers. Her magic allows her to control plant life, bending to her whim. She tried to act like a mother to Amethio and Sidian, since they never knew either of theirs, but they don't really like her.

Zirc and Onia: These two are Kirin who lived on the mountains the surround Paradise. The two stumbled upon Amethio one day, struggling with his fire magic, and they offered to help, since being Kirin they know a thing or two about fire. Gibeon heard of this and was pleased enough to delegate raising Amethio to them, with him regularly checking in. Ever since they've been grunts of the Explorers, steering the airship and keeping an eye on Gibeon's sons outside of Paradise.

don't you want to be a cult leader? - danyal al ghul au

this is mostly a joke post but i thought it was funny and had to share so--

his first mistake was, obviously, inheriting his father's inability to see an injustice and stand still. -- actually, danyal's first mistake was his lair being so big. a mountainous island with a large temple in the center resembling his old home in Nanda Parbat? With sprawling foliage and rivers and streams and waterfalls galore? What was he going to do with all that space? Let it go to waste? He had plants there! Native trees of the ghost zone growing from the soil! He couldn't let it all be left unchecked!

So naturally after helping a fellow teenage assassin ghost -- who he later learns is named Akihiko, -- from Walker of all people, he sent them over to hang low at his lair until it was safe enough for them to wander around the Zone. Walker couldn't get through Danyal's astrofield if his life depended on it, and trust him -- he's tried. Danny was clearing out debris from his stupid transport vans for weeks.

Honestly it wasn't so bad, he and Aki really quickly became fast friends and Danny loves having a sparring partner close to his level again -- he hasn't had this much fun fighting since he left the League. Aki was very dedicated and levelheaded, the both of them clicked really well because of it.

Nonono, the real trouble began after Danyal met some long-passed League members and allowed them to come join his island as well. Apparently they had made a few enemies of the zone, and maybe Danyal still felt some loyalty to the League. He couldn't just let them be left to rot. Their zealotry could be overlooked so long as they kept it contained and helped him take care of his island.

And it.. snowballs from there? He meets a teen squire aptly calling himself Ambroise -- whether that was his living name or not is yet to be seen -- who died during feudal france, who is just about as dramatic and passionate as every french stereotype makes them out to be. He calls Danyal "my moon and great muse" -- which is both flattering and little uncomfortable, but Danyal's grown up in the League as the Grandson of the Demon Head, he is used to mild worship. he passes it off as nothing more, nothing less. -- and while his energy is overwhelming on the worst of days, he helps Danny draw out of his shell more in ways that Sam and Tucker still struggle with.

Him and Aki butt heads a lot, but the two seem to hold the other in at least some positive regard, so Danny doesn't worry too much about them fighting while he's gone. It only becomes a mild issue when Aki also begins calling Danny "my moon". It's a little sweet, so Danyal brushes it off.

Then he takes in a troupe of ghosts some time after he defeats Pariah Dark and they begin calling him "great one" just as the yetis do in the far frozen. This is where he meets the twins -- a pair of sibling ghosts who call themselves Trixie and Missy (short for Trick and Mislead) -- who aren't quite as passionate as Ambroise but more energetic than Aki. Eventually they also start calling Danyal "my moon" and attach themselves to his hip, even within the living. They like to hide in his shadow and cause trouble for the rest of the students. He makes sure they don't hurt anyone.

He's pretty sure Aki is jealous, same with Ambroise, but he can't be too certain other than the fact that they become much more lingering (re: clingy) whenever he visits the island.. Something he's trying to do much more often these days due to the increasing amount of people living there now. Since when did he become so popular?

Then there's Pēnelópeia from the Greater Athens, who ran away from home and joined his Island after he ran into her while she was being chased by Skulker -- and he's pretty sure the reason was because of her chimeric appearance. Her strange eyes and mismatched wings and lion's tail and talons. She assimilates into his friend group very easily, she gets along well with Ambroise and Trixie and Danny usually finds the three of them climbing the trees to pluck the most fruit from the top. They can fly and he knows it, but they prefer to climb.

Then finally there's silent poet Akkara who comes from ancient mesopotamia, who gets along most with Aki -- which is no surprise there considering their similar personality dispositions. he watches Aki and Danyal fight each other and leaves comments on this or that that he notices. He writes Danyal poems on clay tablets and leaves them by his room.

They're one big mismatched group of outcasts, and Danny's got the other ghosts on his island to tend to, because they're living on his island and he wants to be hospitable even if he struggles with that. But he spends the most of his time with them.

Sam and Tucker are making fun of him. Tucker jokingly tells him 'careful Danny, at this rate you're gonna start a cult'. Danny really wishes he had taken that joke more seriously.

He just. keeps. collecting people. Wayward souls lost in the zone, looking for shelter or refuge from something or other -- whether that be another hostile ghost, or a past afterlife, or just a purpose. Danyal finds them, he takes them in, offers them a place on his island until they are ready to leave. Many seldom do. He's not complaining -- he has the space, and it feels like it's only ever growing.

His close friends, his "inner circle" as he's heard the others call them, keep insistently calling him "my moon". He starts calling them his stars, because then it only feels fair. They're his stars, this is his constellation. It becomes a thing; little star halos begin forming behind their heads, picking them out from the rest. He loves them so much, it's hard to place. Sam and Tucker are also his stars, but they reside in the living realm, they're his tie to Life. Meanwhile, his friends here know what it's like to be dead, and sometimes its nice to relate.

Those living on his island keep calling him "Great One" and he's beginning to notice zealotry in their care for his island. He really, deeply appreciates it. His close friends gain nicknames -- as his stars, it's only natural for him to pick them out from the cluster in the skies. Akihiko, his Sirius and bright star. Trix and Missy, Castor and Pollux, the twins and troublemakers. Ambroise, his zealous Antares and close friend. Penelopeia, chimeric and loyal Vega. And Akkara, his Arcturus and strength.

It's ridiculous how long it takes for him to notice; he is, of course, a deadly trained assassin. He is meant to be observant -- and normally he is! But somehow this becomes a blind spot. One that becomes too big to be dealt with by the time he realizes it.

He should've noticed when Aki, his Sirius, stood beside him one day while Danyal looked over his island and saw the sprawling spirits carrying on about their afterlife and bowing to him as they saw him, and said: "I looked down into the depths when I met you; I couldn't measure it." They aren't one for flowing prose, it took him so off guard he was silent for over a minute before he finally spoke.

Danyal should've recognized devotion for what it is, and yet he didn't. He should've recognized it when Antares began spouting praises about him, crowing about his radiance and resplendence to the heavens. He just brushed it off as Ambroise being Ambroise. He should've recognized it when Trix and Missy nearly broke Dash's leg after he knocked Danyal's books out of his hands, he excused it as them being protective. Of them coming from times where such violence may have been customary -- after all, that's what he used to be like. What he was still like, sometimes, when his emotions nearly got the better of him.

He should've noticed it when the people living on his island followed his word like gospel, looked at him like he hung the stars in the sky. When his friends gifted him a shawl with the moon phases delicately embroidered into it, with silver, shimmering thread and moving stars lovingly stitched into it. Their constellations seen clear as day in the dark fabric. When he found small shrines dedicated to him -- but they lacked any image of him beyond stones carved to look like moons, so he ignored it. When the religious imagery began popping up.

He really, really should've noticed it when a bunch of cultists accidentally summoned Antares, and Antares had turned to him when he arrived and called them heretics. But he was so centered on the fact that they had kidnapped one of his stars, that he hadn't paid much attention to what Ambroise had said.

Sages say that faith is blind, they should also say faith in you is even blinder.

It really only hits him one afternoon while he's sitting in Sam's room studying with Tucker, Missy and Trixie lounging at his feet, Aki sat on his right, Penelopeia braiding his hair, Ambroise draped against him, and Akkara lurking over him. Its one of the rare few times they're all in one room together.

It hits him like a bolt of lightning. He looks up from his textbook. "Oh Ancients," he says in no amounting shock. Everyone looks up to him.

"I've become my grandfather."

#I would get orange juice. black coffee. AND iced coffee ($3) because I love the variety of having multiple drinks #then sausage and scrambled eggs ($8). Then sauteed mushrooms ($3)....AND... hrm.. then spending the remaining $4 would be hard #I wish I could get waffles (as they are my favorite and are superior in every way compared to pancakes. donuts. etc.) but I'm not willing #to give up the other savory things just to get them. so... then maybe I could get a biscuit or english muffin? and just put jam or #honey butter or something on it so it can be my replacement 'sweet and bready' thing instead of something from the $5 row??#OR I could also just assume that having the orange juice plus iced coffee would provide enough of a 'sweet element' to the meal #(since I largely prefer savory foods. I only like a tiny bit of sweet added for variety) and thus forego any sort of #'bready' thing entirely and just get the bowl of beans/onion/tomato (I'd leave the avocado since I don't like the #texture of them really lol). THEN I'd have $1 left to get the milk or the black tea... increasing my total of random drinks..#which is always the goal of course.. as a chronic ''person who is sipping at 5 different drinks at their desk simultaneously always'' perso #OR... I could just do.. waffle. scrambled eggs. sausage. mushrooms. and black coffee and orange juice.. which is... okay variety #augh... so difficult.. As my Ideal Breakfast is like a buffet type thing or something where you have like 25 different things to choose fro #and can get a little tiny bit of everything. My eating style is very much like.. I'd rather pick at a small amount of a ton of #different things than just have a very large amount of only one or two things. Thats why I LOVE sample platter type stuff.#So it's like... augh... the ideal option would be a tiny portion of EVERYTHING actually lol...#Difficult to choose...#ANYWAY.. Also no idea why I added croissant instead of bagel. I only thought about that afterwards. I do actually like bagels.#I've only ever even had a croissant like 2 times in my entire life. Yet I've had many bagels. For some reason it stuck out in my mind more #when I was considering 'essential breakfast foods' somehow... how could I forget them... bagels my beloved...#Blame it on the hot weather... 'What in the blazes? The sun hath obliterated the concept of bagels from my miind!'#(< meant to be said in a silly overdramatic elderly wizard accent or something)#Also I don't think ''bowl of beans. onion. avocado. and tomatos.'' is necessarily a breakfast classic or something gbhjjh #but I was just trying to think of a versatile vegetable-ish side that could be full of common breakfast additions #so people could do stuff like ''oh I get the toast option and then the bowl of stuff and I put the avocado on the toast'' etc.#Like a mix and match. You could mix ingredients from different parts. You could put scrambled eggs and bacon and onion #on the bread or soemthing. etc. I just feel like something is always missing if a Full Breakfast Spread #doesnt have some sort of onions or beans or mushrooms or asparagus or spinach like... some sort of thing that isn't just eggs and meat and #bread.. you know? lol..#But then again.. I am the Sampling Plate Style Variety Lover and Tiny Portion Of Food Picker so maybe thats just a me thing.

DATV Spoilers Just in Case!) I’ve seen a head canon floating around that when solas puts a mage!Rook in the regret prison, it tranquilizes them. What do you think Viago’s reaction to this happening to a Crow!Rook would be?

i think there's a small terrible part of viago that instinctively thinks it was a bad investment/solution to send rook off with varric, since he's lost one of his best assassins. and then of course he hates that this is his first reaction because rook is more than that to him, but he's been conditioned by their lives to worry about his power and the mission first. and then i think he throws himself into trying to prove that he is a better man than that by finding a cure, without being obvious about it, even if his worry actually makes him messier and obvious. a similar outward reaction to what i've seen people headcanon about how he feels when he gets the news that rook is stuck in the fade trap in general (anger, determination, frustration, etc)

the idea of viago as a man who clings to "i rose to this rank for a reason, above the other crows. i'm a killer but with my poisons, i'm cleaner. i'm royalty. i'm better." is so beautiful to me. who he wants by his side/publically allies with is made more interesting to me for that reason. rook and teia make a very short list, so for him to lose either of them (especially to a fate worse than death. like i know there's a cure but i'm not sure if that's common knowledge and it has rammys bro) will inevitably cause a crash out the likes of which thedas may have never seen before <3

#tho also i have no fucking clue. i love viago and his high strung freakish tendencies #but a lot of this is just me thinking of viago and not necessarily this specific ask. sorry anon #there are other people on here with a better grasp on vi #and i plan to keep it this way because the moment i have to think of him as a mentor figure #it pollutes my vision board for him. Oh boi even more of One au in like 3 hours lol

I like to think that like how in @phoenixcatch7's Doll au there's gas versions of like cures and such in the batfam's gas masks since they don't need to breath when possessing the puppets right? I like to think there's an organic version of that with the meat puppet bodies, at least with Bruce, where the plates on his neck opens up into vents of sorts, pictured here with a few spikes removed for visibility reasons.

This gas could be some cures for like Joker venom & Fear gas and such, or it could also be sedatives, paralytics, could even vary between each member. (For example in the Cryptidverse Steph has Anesthetics on her claws, Jason has reflective powder that mimics embers/sparks, Cass has paralytics, etc). Honestly I am just brainstorming so this could definitely change lmao

I do like to think they start developing their own venom though, gotta' have those fangs & tusks for some reason lol
