can I be smart while also having adhd??
lately I've seen a video about a woman who found out she has adhd (jaiden animations) and I felt like she was reading my biography haha
I've related to every single experience she said. so that tickled my brain to go after some research about adhd, to then realize I relate to, like, 90% of the symptoms and go through the same situations as diagnosed people..
but when I brought the idea that I might have adhd to my therapist (that assists me for half a year), she told me she finds super unlikely that I have it because I am smart and get really good grades...
I feel like it's unfair to eliminate that idea just because I am good at school, even though I suffer with lots and lots of other things in my every day life...
Sent July 23, 2024
Most people who have ADHD have at least normal IQ (as problematic as IQ is as a concept and an applied idea), and there are a few patterns that can indicate ADHD in someone whose overall academic performance is good. I was a gifted student, but I still showed these patterns.
1. You do better at the start of the term than the end. My first report card was always straight A’s (except Phys. Ed., which was always a C or D which is actually ludicrous now I think about it) and by the end of the year most things were a B except for my favourite subjects.
2. Your locker or desk at school is always a disaster, making it hard to be prepared for class or to find needed items (e.g., assignments, text books).
3. The usual executive dysfunction issues, meaning you’re late for class a lot, you leave assignments until the last minute, you forget about things, etc.
Talk to your therapist again, or ask your doctor for a referral to a clinician who can do an assessment. Your therapist may not be qualified to diagnose, and they obviously aren’t well-educated about ADHD.
The other part of this is that even if you don’t qualify for a formal diagnosis, you are obviously struggling or you wouldn’t have brought it up to your therapist. What I suggest there is, talk to them about the problems you’re having rather than “ADHD”. Pick the thing that’s most frustrating right now, and ask them if they can help you figure out how to deal with it. Because no matter what, you need to manage your symptoms and you probably need help to sort out how to do that.
Followers, what do you think about this? Do you have any advice to offer?

Can we please CLARIFY something?
In order for a person/relationship to qualify as an addiction, the rule of thumb #1 is → CRAVING.
Not anger fits that can be otherwise explained environmentally / by context and I already went over → here, not melancholy, not even the person literally saying: I am ADDICTED TO "X".
Now that we made that clear what definitely confirms the "passing" /clear check assessment (notice I didn't say Diagnosis bc there isn't a pathology to begin with here) is meeting the following criteria:
The person being able to talk about it without it posing an issue, both in terms of mood, functionality, and physiologically/physically.
The person not avoiding personal objects that remind them of "X".
The person is avoiding contact with "X".
I'm gonna say that deliberately choosing not to call her having the phone in hand for a long time, is a pretty good sign, also he didn't seem distressed as he walked the Faks through why Claire means peace and he didn't wanna talk to her.
I do wanna address the fact that he still feels guilty about how things unraveled that night with her, and thus he still thinks about that/her every day, bc obviously he hasn't apologized yet. Probably if he ever does, that recurrent train of thought, will disappear.
And yes, he may have idealized her, due to her "third-party" nature. That means: that usually when we are having a hard time, the grass looks greener on the other side. For instance, if we have a hard time at our current job, another job offer may seem great and we may idealize it, especially if it's "easy" and then we realize, once we have already made the switch, that we were indeed idealizing it. Clairmy fits that profile.
Sometimes the disorders do exist although the cause is not what we think it is but rather something EXTREMELY different. In Carmy's case, he is not addicted to any relationship or person, it's not in his nature to be able to do that, he can cut off his own family, he's avoidant, etc. He is addicted to stress (adrenaline) though, that is why he's a workaholic and why he finds solace, no matter how toxic this may look like, at work and why he doesn't sleep, and why if he's not making it there, he can't make it anywhere.
That is why he associated C with peace, - wrongly of course, he's an addict, can't think straight rn, he's going through a crisis induced by going back to his old habits, regressing in every aspect, and on top of that he is fighting his other addiction (nicotine that I covered → here)- bc she drove him away from work. Syd means work to him, among other things, way more profound that I won't get into in this post. He can't allow himself, in this state to make other connections that would drive him to break with this status quo that is toxic and unsustainable, but that he, for now, has to hold on to KEEP GOING.
Bonus track: That's why I'm convinced that if Syd leaves him now, that fine thread he's hanging on by, WILL NOT RESIST. He's not walking on thin ice anymore, that was last season till the walk-in happened, now he's full-on drowning and if Syd walks, he will stop kicking and let himself sink. You think he's spiraling, but he's not yet. He's in a relapse, which is a very dark place but he still has some hope to make it. Not if Syd leaves though, you haven't seen anything yet.
Science baby!

🇭🇺 Carlos gave an interview to the Spanish media "Mundo Deportivo" about what his future holds and how he feels:
[Thu 20, July, 2023]
MD: We send you our condolences on behalf of Mundo Deportivo for the death of your grandfather. How are you feeling?
CS: "Thank you very much. I am well. I was lucky enough to be able to make the most of him until he was 97 years old, in fact he died just the day after his 97th birthday. On the other hand, I am calm because I know that I have taken advantage of all the time I have been able to spend with him and that is the message I have wanted to send on social media to the younger kids, that they should take advantage of the time with their grandparents and spend time with their older relatives because it is a law of life that one day they will not be around and then you can always regret not having spent more time with them."
MD: Is there anything that has inspired you from your grandfather to face your day-to-day life as a pilot?
CS: "Not as a pilot, but as a person he certainly inspired me. He was a person who didn't have it easy from an early age. He was left without a father at the age of 14, he had to take care of his whole family by himself and he was a successful man, above all, and he did whatever he wanted, without ever taking into account what others might think, something that I think in today's world with social media you are always a bit worried about what they will say and what they will think of me. He was always a person who followed his path and did what he wanted, with very good values, but always doing what he thought was right and moving forward."
MD: Do you think you can dedicate a victory to him this season?
CS: "Yes, if I win this year, I'll dedicate it to him, for sure. And if I don't, I'll dedicate a podium to him, which would be a good result."
MD: How are you facing the weekend in Hungary?
CS: "We've made a step forward, but behind Verstappen it's a very close battle. It depends a lot on the tracks and we have to be aware that there will be better and worse weekends. We hope to find good conditions here."
MD: What is your assessment of the start of the year?
CS: "You always have to put it in perspective. In terms of results, it was not great, with a lot of fourth, fifth and sixth places. I think we all expected a little bit more, including me. But if I look at the detail of how much I've got out of the car, I don't think I'm having a bad year. I think I'm driving well, I'm qualifying well, I'm having good races, good races, again, from less to more. Maybe the results don't quite reflect it, but it's been a bit of a strange year in that respect."
MD: Max Verstappen, who wins everything with Red Bull, would not win with the current Ferrari either.
CS: "Well, if Charles and I were driving the Red Bull and we didn't let him win like he doesn't let us, it would be like that. But I don't like to compare because you will never know. But it is very well known that nowadays in F1 the car is very important."
MD: The Maranello factory worked against the clock to deliver several evolution packages quickly, weeks ahead of schedule. What is it like to see that work from the inside?
CS: "It's a spectacular thing. To see a factory the size of Ferrari, with its ability to react, to work day and night to get parts out, to get things done, is one of the most beautiful and most special things you can see in F1. Especially when you spend days in the factory. I'm very involved, I see it and I have the opportunity to go and say hello to all the workers very often and thank them, because they are the ones who make the difference in the end."
MD: How many hours can you spend in the factory?
CS: "On average I spend one or two days a week at the factory. About 6 hours each of those days, more or less. That's on the weeks when I don't have a race, obviously. When you have a race you lower the intensity a bit in that respect. Or the week before the race I spend a day or a day and a half. I go to the simulator for half a day or three quarters of that day. I spend another half day in meetings with engineers and then another half day I go and say hello to some department, say hello to people that you might not have the chance to see if you don't go to the factory."
MD: How do you feel at Ferrari?
CS: "I honestly feel that I'm at the ideal time in my career to be a Ferrari driver, because I'm looking forward to it. It's an intense place to be, because you have a lot of things to take care of, you have a lot of responsibilities, you race for the Ferrari team, which I think says it all, and you have to have a lot of desire. You have to be 100% dedicated to F1 and to the team and I am in that moment between maturity and youth to take advantage of being at Ferrari."
MD: Every driver is a person… Do criticisms and rumours, which must always be experienced more intensely by Ferrari drivers, become exhausting?
CS: "They could be exhausting, but not for me. If you're not at 100% like I am, or you're at the beginning or end of your career, they could wear you down. I'm not going to deny it. But I'm so 100% and so happy to be at Ferrari that the noise doesn't exhaust me or affect me because I don't let it."
MD: If you are so happy at Ferrari and feels so loved, I must ask if you want to continue at Ferrari beyond the end of your current contract, which runs until the end of 2024.
CS: "My priority, of course, is to continue at Ferrari. I don't see any better place in F1 right now than a team like Ferrari, which has the ambition to win again. I want to win another race as soon as possible and, if possible, fight for a World Championship. And since we both share the same objective, if that team is Ferrari, then I don't see why I shouldn't continue. But I have said it many times: I always like to go into the last season of my contract knowing where I am going to race the following year and that will be my intention this year." He added, "It also depends on the contract (laughing)"
MD: What does it depend on?
CS: "To come to an agreement. It's like always in life. You both have to agree to shake hands and sign a contract, and if you don't agree on anything, you talk about it. You know that I will always do my part, everything I can to stay in a team like Ferrari."
MD: Are you calm and confident that an agreement will be reached?
CS: "I am not worried. I have set a date for myself, the winter of this year, to try to find out what is going to happen to me, but I will think about it more at the end of the season, what I would and wouldn't be worth to be here and what I can continue to offer Ferrari? I'm just very focused on the season. Now, also, in the middle of the season… maybe in the summer I think a little bit because you have a three-week break and you think about things. But now, between races, you don't have time to stop and think about it."
MD: Last year you said that the Ferrari car had to be driven very aggressively and it was difficult for you to adapt. How is it this year?
CS: "Honestly, the car is very similar to last year's car to drive. The driving style is exactly the same. I've just made the effort to adapt to it and drive it a bit better, and above all I've made the effort to learn the set-up and see what things with this car can help me to go faster. But above all, the biggest effort has been both driving and getting to know the car. It's true that this year's car, in relation to the others, is not so competitive, but in the end, it's a car that is very similar to last year's, or almost the same."
MD: Is the goal of being a champion with Ferrari still intact?
CS: "The goal of being champion with Ferrari is still intact, yes, and hopefully for a long time to come."

Puella Historia Reviews Part 2
Part 1 here
Gunhild
Turns out her hair is just as if not stupider than her sister's, you just can't see it well from here, but I think I still almost like her more because her skirt is comparatively better cinched. To be honest I almost respect her stupid bikini. Obviously she shouldn't be wearing it, but if she was some form acrobat instead of a valkyrie it would be kinda cool. Same with the goldchains on her gauntlet, imo it would be better if the chains where connected by rings to the fingers, but it's at least a neat detail to have. Still not into how bare her other arm is, though. As for her wolf pelt... well, let's just say Laios Dungeonmeshi raised my standards (don't look that up, it's spoilers). But no, seriously, it makes no sense how it attaches to her body, did she cut the tail to stick it under her skirt deliberately???? What is going on there. I will say however that I like her horns and the angelic vs demonic dichotomy that she and her sister have, I just think it would be even better if she was wearing a classic horned helmet instead. Apparently they are not historically accurate, but they would pair well with Olga's Valkyrie fashion.
Heruka
I'm gonna be honest with y'all, I don't feel qualified to assess her. I will say that she looks waaaayyy too detailed and charged for my personal taste, but none of it feels superfluous, she's balanced and excessive detail aside her outfit is well-constructed. But the truth is I know nothing about Nepal nor its cultures, so I can't tell where does this fall on the scale between something accurate but repackaged into a magical girl shape, or a complete bastardization that's flattening a lot of diversity into a commodified package.
Toyo
By contrast, I have a better (if not particularly deep) understanding of Toyo's culture, so even if she's also too charged for my taste I can tell her adornments are reasonably historically appropriate, so I feel comfortable giving her a pass. There truly is no need for everything to be miku sleeves, though.
Amaryllis
Ooooooooh my fffffffffuuuucking goooooood you people I PROMISE that you can make variations on french maid costumes WITHOUT adding pointless crap and impractical sleeves everywhere. Seriously, there's at least three, three! magical girls in this game with this aesthetic and she almost looks exactly the same as Mikoto!!! Which she shouldn't because amongst many other reasons SHE IS A SERVANT IN ANCIENT FUCKING ROME. ANCIENT ROME HAD ITS OWN COUTURE YOU PRICK, I KNOW YOU KNOW THAT BECAUSE I SAW HER OTHER SPRITES IN THE WIKI AND YOU DREW HER IN SOMETHING THAT AT LEAST RESEMBLES HISTORICAL ACCURACY. YOU WANT TO MAKE A FRENCH MAID FOR THE HISTORICAL LINE THEN MAKE HER AN ACTUAL FRENCH MAID IN THE 19TH CENTURY, ASSHOLE, WHAT'S THIS FUCKING PAST REINCARNATION/DOUBLE LIFE PLOT THAT SEEMS TAKEN STRAIGHT OUT OF THE SHITTY MANWHAS I READ????
Ok, rage aside, I will grant her that she's at least mildly better constructed than Mikoto, at least in what it pertains to her skirt and torso. She's overly-layered, but at least there something resembling logic behind those, her hairstyle and laces sandals are ok, and her gold embroidery at least tries to recall the time period she's supposed to represent. But her sleeves are still awful, she has laces and a bow in between other laces and a bow and I hat how her veil just... sticks out on her lower left side like that, it drives me nuts how it unbalances the silhouette.
And with that... this is the last review I made before the game closes. I know I get mad at it often, but I am thankful for the community it has allowed me to be part of. Rest in Peace, Magia Record 🫡🫡🫡

hii :) first of all, your comics are so relatable and wonderfully drawn, you’re such a good artist!
but i guess i’m just wondering if you could help try and answer some questions i have, it’s alright if not though of course :]
i’m like 99% sure i have autism, i relate a crap ton to people with autism and just experiences commonly had by autistic people
but what i’m wondering about is 1, i don’t think i’ve shown or felt any signs of it up until i turned around 12 maybe, and i’m thirteen now
the only thing i can think of is most definitely having special interests, like i cannot be interested in something casually and it’s been that way my whole life
but now, the past year, i’ve been having so many signs of it, i’ve had meltdowns and go nonverbal when i’m stressed and have been stimming and stuff (i’m tired so my descriptions aren’t going to be good sorry lmao)
and the second thing is that i can understand sarcasm and things pretty perfectly, of course there’s the occasional misunderstanding but i don’t think i’ve ever really taken things too literally, if anything the opposite because i’m very sarcastic and figurative myself i feel
of course it’s a spectrum but pretty much everything i’ve heard about autism is that almost everyone has some level of difficulty with taking things literally and sarcasm
idk man i got <5 hours of sleep last night
sincerely,
sleep deprived confused child
Hi sleep deprived confused child! 😁 Don't worry I understand!
I also didn't think I showed autistic traits as a child at first, until I started talking to my mum about how I used to act, reading old reports, and viewing my memories through an autistic lens. A lot of the stuff I thought was 'normal' turned out not to be. For example, I thought everyone found crowds terrifying and music at events painfully loud, and I didn't realise tapping my fingers constantly could be a stim, and although I thought I was sarcastic (turns out saying things plainly/bluntly can come across as sarcasm) I didn't always get it when other people were.
Also, your traits can get more obvious as you get older and have to deal with more complicated problems. At age 12 there's the weird transition from child to teenager, maybe changing schools, or more complicated homework, or more responsibilities at home, different types of relationships etc, which can all add stress and force you to find ways to cope you might not have needed before.
THAT SAID, there's a lot of overlap between autistic traits and other things like ADHD (eg you might have hyperfixations rather than special interests - they're similar but change more often), or PTSD. While autism and ADHD are generally only diagnosed if you've had the traits from a very young age, things like PTSD and other mental health issues can show up later. And they can all be comorbid to make things extra complicated.
Obviously I am not in a position to diagnose you with any of these! I am definitely not qualified so please talk to a professional about any concerns or suspicions.
Sidenote: have you tried taking the RAADS-R or AQ50 tests? They're generally considered reliable and are often part of assessments, so hopefully they can help answer your questions!
I hope you have a good day and continue to be less sleep deprived :)
#also thank you I'm glad you like my art!#ask#anon ask#autism#advice#its a spectrum#sleep deprived confused child

untangling my neurodivergence is such a trip like
- first time they tested me for autism i got a negative which is so funny in hindsight considering how Very Obviously Neurodivergent i was as a kid, so i had to return like OK I KNOW YOU SAID I DIDN'T AUTISM BUT CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHY I AM IN CONSTANT SENSORY HELL LIKE I'VE BEEN TOLD BY RELIABLE SOURCES WEARING CLOTHES IS NOT SUPPOSED TO FEEL THIS AWFUL ALL THE TIME and on second try i got an "hmmm ok you TECHNICALLY qualify but it's SO mild you are VERY high functioning like it's very vague. barely there. but you can have the diagnosis juuust in case you want accomodations someday" <- definitely didn't carry this assessment with me for years, no sirree, definitely didn't let other people's perception of "i'm not THAT autistic" color the way i viewed and treated myself well into adulthood,,
- the odd disparity between "but i'm so helpless i don't think it's possible for me to live on my own, i don't know how to do anything, i'm going to be a child forever" and "HUH living on my own is SO nice and easy?? i'm handling adulthood so much better than i ever thought i would????" because it turns out having control over my own environment frees up so much space in my brain
- the autism nerf becomes very apparent the moment i Return Home and suddenly the old brick walls in the brain are back. suddenly somehting as easy as making a little cheese toastie, a food that i've been eating almost every day for most of my life, becomes a strenuous task because i have to navigate a now unfamiliar territory, just choosing a cheese is hard enough because some of these belong to someone else and are off limits, if i open a new cheese when there was another one already open i will be berated for it, if i use the wrong cheese that is too fatty and melty i will be berated for picking the wrong cheese, and the fridge is very full and confusing and maybe i'm just missing the most obvious cheese, i'll just ask, and of course i can always ask, i am not afraid of asking for help but i'm always so tired of being made to feel stupid and clueless for needing to ask, but if i just assume i will always make the wrong assumption, and IS IT ANY WONDER SO MANY OF US DEVELOP ANXIETY
- anyway yes i'm absolutely THAT Autistic.
#i say autistic but on paper i've got aspergers because norway uses outdated diagnoses :)#im just. mh. i know all this already but it's helpful to articulate it out#to put words to the ways i struggle instead of swallowing it down constantly#i want to do things but my brain is full of brick walls!!!!!!! it's a labyrinth up in here!!!#the thread here is that it's 'easy' to mask in a place you're familiar with#but then having the freedom to unmask - the return is always revealing

Albon has what it takes to push Williams forward as Vowles hails his leadership qualities
Williams team boss James Vowles has heaped praise on Alex Albon for what he has shown in and out of the car during his time with the squad, describing the Thai-British racer’s performance at the recent Canadian Grand Prix as “the drive of a champion”. Vowles took on the Team Principal role with the Grove operation on the eve of the 2023 season, with former Red Bull driver Albon so far claiming three points finishes despite a compromised winter that saw Williams prepare the FW45 without an official Technical Director. READ MORE: Albon lauds ‘strongest weekend so far’ as more points see Williams leapfrog Alfa Romeo and Haas in standings One of those results came during the visit to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve last month, where Albon took advantage of mixed qualifying conditions to reach Q3 and then converted it into a seventh-place finish via some impressive defensive driving. Having worked with the likes of Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton during his time in F1, Vowles offered some thoughts on where Albon fits into the equation during an appearance on the Beyond The Grid podcast. This feature is currently not available because you need to provide consent to functional cookies. Please update your cookie preferences How Alex Albon delivered his best Williams finish at the 2023 Canadian Grand Prix “There’s no ego,” said Vowles, giving his initial assessment. “He’s a funny chap, but I called him [after Canada] to explain to him that was a drive of champions. I’ve worked with a good number of them and it really was. “He didn’t put a foot wrong at the point where he’s under pressure from four incredibly fast-charging cars behind on tyres that were in a much better state than his. Some of the work he was doing on repositioning his car, on the exit of [Turn 10] and a few other corners, was very clever. READ MORE: Behind the scenes with Logan Sargeant: Williams’ rookie on racing at Silverstone – and what makes F1 different “He recognises that. He’s obviously not someone that’s going to go in and boast about it to the world, but for me, that was a drive of a champion. “He’s definitely bringing the car to the limit of its performance, which is what you’re looking for out of a driver. I think he’s very underrated and I’m incredibly happy that he’s here within our organisation today.” Albon added more points to his and Williams’ tally at the British Grand Prix Asked if he would consider building the future of the team around Albon, as he attempts to return them to winning ways, Vowles continued: “Yes, I would. He’s got leadership qualities to him. “There are areas where he and I talk about where I think he can do more, but he’s got what it takes to bring us forward as an organisation. As I said, for the future, from where I am at the moment, I hope he’s very much a part of it.” READ MORE: Williams reveal fan-voted livery that will race in Singapore, Japan and Qatar Albon’s other points-scoring efforts came at the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix and the British Grand Prix last time out with runs to P10 and P8 respectively. The results have given Williams enough points to hold seventh in the constructors’ standings after 10 rounds, putting them ahead of Haas, Alfa Romeo and AlphaTauri. via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

Hey, I wanted to clear up some potential misconceptions here just to be safe!
School psychs and counselors CANNOT diagnose autism, especially simply from a meeting with a student that could fit within after-school hours. The reason we have such long wait times as far as seeking diagnosis is because there is a very limited set of qualifications and positions one can hold in order to be qualified to diagnose autism. The diagnostic process is extensive and multifaceted, involving parent interviews, extensive screening and tests, and very importantly multiple eyes. One person alone cannot diagnose someone with autism for one, in my case I had three people observe my behavior in one way or another and they had to meet to discuss their observations before they could come to a final conclusion and give me a diagnosis. In addition, the screening took multiple hours, and since I am both not an adult and still have contact with my parents, at least one of them had to be involved as I do not remember my childhood enough to report on early symptoms.
What school psychs can administer however, is an acting diagnosis, which instead of being a professional diagnosis, allows for accommodations to be made without one. It's essentially the school agreeing to accomodate a student under the assumption that they have something due to them exhibiting the symptoms and potentially benefitting from help with it. There's nothing wrong with this, but it should not be used in place of a diagnosis if you want long term support if you change schools or graduate and need accommodations at college or elsewhere, as it is not a diagnosis that holds any weight outside of where it was agreed upon. If you're only worried about accommodations at this school or if you are in urgent need of support there, then by all means go for it. I had my school operating under and acting diagnosis of adhd for me until I was able to get diagnosed.
School psychs are also usually involved in the process of an autism diagnosis in relation to school. It is common for them to recommend seeking a diagnosis, and to work with the student and their teachers on support and accommodations. So, while they aren't qualified to diagnose you themselves they can be a help on the way to one, and it is quite likely you will be sent to meet with one somewhere along the way. School psychs however, are not able to diagnose OR rule out autism as a diagnosis.
I also want to calrify I don't have any ill-intent towards the person who sent that ask, I was simply worried about the potential of you seeking an acting diagnosis and then winding up in a pinch between wait times and a need for accommodations elsewhere. I also want to clarify that I don't think the other person was lying nor do I want to push that notion. For all I know they go to a unique school in which qualified individuals somehow work, or their school has a system on which qualified professionals can be called in to administer assessments on campus. While I've never heard of either thing it could be possible. And then there's also potential that they have an acting diagnosis and just didn't clarify that those can't be carried externally. I obviously don't know their situation and am not trying to make any form of an accusation or attack on them, I'm simply worried about potential for misconceptions. I'm also quite interested in their school's situation so, if they're reading this: would you possibly mind elaborating on that? I've heard of school psychologists but not school psychiatrists. I can't seem to find much information on this and I'm very curious.
OHHHH i see i see!!! ty once again for the info, ill definitely keep it in mind <3 don't really have much to add but its here for anyone who needs it !!

Laughing about the dm I got from op about the moe post. Buddy I didn't miss shit. I read the notes. literally TWO notes in you have people making generalized sweeping statements about the genre as a whole based on your misinformation, and it just took off from there. I have someone who @ me after you edited the post to tell moe fans to kill themselves, presumably to tell me something about pedophilia in anime or whatever, and your literal tags on your edit are also about pedophilia, but sure I misread everything, and you have the moral high ground.
Anyway. @skydalorian, since you @ me but I can't read it. Assuming you didn't also try to tell me to kill myself for allegedly being a moe fan (I'm not, but sure believe what you want OP), I'm just gonna tell you upfront.
You saying shit like this is exactly what I was talking about in my tags. I find this sentiment reprehensible. The way you have condemned other people for liking 'media that perpetuates pedophilic-intent,' a statement that is only backed by the OP flat out lying and using deceptive tactics, while you misuse and misunderstand what pedophilia is, is absolutely repugnant to me.
This is not pedophilia. Pedophilia is not when character designs in shows aimed at teenagers about teenagers are cutesy. It's also not making those designs either! Pedophilia is the sexual attraction to real children. Got it? Are we clear? Because if you're not clear on this, you are absolutely not qualified to talk about the subject.
Now, there are moe anime out there that deal heavily in sexualizing their cutesy character designs, that lean extremely heavily onto making child characters lewd or sexy. There is also straight moe hentai. If people want to criticize that, about how this trend can contribute to the sexualization and objectification of young girls (or children over all) in the culture (a thing that is bad, but is not pedophilia, because pedophilia has a specific meaning), that's fine.
But a post that's full of bullshit examples where one character is a dude in a show that's also moe, the top half contains a diverse array of genres marketed to demographics of different ages, while the bottom half is nearly all romcoms and all intended for teenagers, that uses still images of anime girl faces doing nothing sexual is not how you make that point or have that conversation.
I don't know if you watched every single show in the original post. You probably haven't. I haven't either! But that's all the more reason you shouldn't be so eager to use these examples to talk about the subject, isn't it? It should absolutely be enough to make you stop and think before you call anyone who likes any of those bottom shows 'close to being garbage.' Really? You're that confident about your assessment? Based on your misunderstanding about what pedophilia is? From a OP that could not more obviously be bad faith and unfounded?
How dare you. Truly, how dare you. How dare you accuse a bunch of people you don't know for 'supporting pedophilia' because they took even the smallest amount of issue when a post that was flat out lying mischaracterized a thing they like.
I've disabled the reblogs on this; I don't want this to leave my blog. But I am absolutely begging you to think before you make statements like this. Please stop relying on bad faith bullshit posts to condemn people for things they're not guilty of.
#hope.txt#come back from work to to get dmed by op and immediately blocked#hilarious#iconic#don't make rebloggable posts on a public platform made of bullshit if you dont want people to point out your post is bullshit

It's interesting, to be sure, though a few things stand out to me off the bat. This ended up long as hell so I'm stuffing it under a readmore.
Most artists aren't lawyers; God knows I'm not. From what I've seen on your blog, I don't think you are, either. That's not a bad thing and it doesn't preclude this from happening, but it does raise some issues. The complexity of licensing and legalese is the very thing that makes smaller and less experienced artists vulnerable to exploitation under the current system. As it is, I don't fully understand what the process would be to publish under the "OAG License", whether that would be different whether or not the hypothetical OAG platform existed or not, and what steps would have to be taken to make the "OAG License" a legally recognized form of artistic license. Do you know those details? Have you confirmed them with a copyright lawyer? I saw you say in another post that being backed by the guild would turn any legal action "into a class-action suit by default". I am like 90% sure that is not what a class-action lawsuit is or how it works, unless a VERY interesting spin is put on members' copyrights and interests under the guild. I advise caution in slinging around legal terms and talking about how the hypothetical OAG would legally function if you are not working with a lawyer and/or 1000% sure you understand exactly what every term means and the involved requirements and standards. Misinformation of that nature can harm your credibility.
"Art" is not defined here, which is a problem when members are supposed to exclusively work under the OAG License when they can. A screenplay is obviously art, and you note fanfiction as an exception because it is explicitly derivative, but what about a digital art piece commissioned by someone else? What about a fanfiction adapted into an original work? What about livestream and video footage of things like lets plays? Those fall in a murky grey region of legality under fair use due to transformation, but that grey area means, in many cases, the person who created the stream or video has copyrights over the video and can turn a profit, but they can also be hit with DMCA claims. If that isn't art, what about livestreams of someone working on their art? Livestreams of someone working on fanwork? Does that count? Is non-fiction work included under the OAG? What about other weird things that can be copyrighted, like written and filmed book reviews, or the stories attached to recipe pages? When does code qualify as art-- does it always, or is it only when that code is in service to another form of art, like a videogame, art software, etc? Some of this, I'm sure, would need to be gone over with a copyright lawyer who can appropriately assess what the existing law says qualifies as "art" and can reasonably be protected by the guild and its license, but that step would be critically important for getting this at all off the ground.
"The artist" also needs clearer definitions and structures. What happens to works with multiple artists? Do all need to be active members of OAG to submit? Is collaboration and publication with non-OAG artists forbidden? Will the OAG have any say in how profits are split between multiple artists of a project, or will the expectation be that the artists work that out for themselves?
How will OAG enforce the 30% profit rule? Will there be limitations on where works can be published and sold to ensure the revenue stream is documented and under OAG purview? What if the artist has posted it to a platform where revenue directly associated with a specific work is unclear, such as Patreon? What if the artist sells their work in bundles or collections-- what if they sell it in a bundle with something ambiguous or simply unenforced under someone else's copyright, like stickers of fanart for existing media properties? Do artists owe OAG 30% of ALL income potentially associated with the work they published under the OAG license? That's bonkers, and I'm pretty sure entirely unenforceable unless you demand horrendous levels of financial transparency from every single member. If OAG has a hosting platform capable of turning profit and thus is in charge of processing those payments, will OAG automatically take its 30% from that? Presumably the 30% applies to "profit from a work" and not "each artist's profit from a work", but for multiple-artist projects that should be made explicit, and any platform built for OAG structured to account for multi-artist projects, for both payment and project controls.
Required monthly submissions as the sole way to uphold your membership status is not a good strategy. For one, a lot of work simply isn't complete in a publishable state within a month, even for full-time and wholly able-bodied artists: traditional paintings, novels, poetry books, videogames, sculptures, etc. Despite the guideline for the platform specifying that disabled artists should not be excluded, this also absolutely annihilates the ability of disabled artists to participate. "Once a month" may sound like very little to an able-bodied person accustomed to seeing digital artists crank out a dozen finished works a month, but there are disabilities that disable people for several months at a time, disabled artists who can only produce art once a year, once every two years. There are artistic fields that take months and months to complete a single work. You fundamentally exclude both groups from participation in this protective guild when you require constant proof of work.
It's also unclear what defines a "monthly submission"-- obviously submitting the same exact thing two months in a row would be a Problem, but what about revisions to a previous work, or alternate versions like recolors? Where are the lines being drawn? Is incomplete work, like drafts and sketches, considered an acceptable submission? I mean, it's still a unique piece that would fall under the artist's copyright, even incomplete. What will the overhead and supervision of this requirement look like, what will the appeals process be? Who will be in charge of checking a member has fulfilled their requirement?
Suggestions:
Also, what about an artist who has previously published work but now wants to join OAG? What are the expectations for their backlog, if any? This will be almost all artists. This is critical.
Quick edit: also, what about people like professional screenwriters, who already work with trade unions? Will OAG be in competition or collaboration with those trade unions? How will that affect profit share requirements? Is OAG specifically catered to small and freelance artists-- how will it account for members who work with studios, production houses, publishers, and large companies and copyright holders? Will being a member of OAG preclude any work on projects by those entities? Will working with non-approved companies earn membership blacklisting, like scabbing does with trade unions? That means people might have to choose between OAG membership and a stable job, or working on a Disney movie. How will OAG handle those split incentives? How will OAG negotiate with powerhouses to change the industry, should they gain sufficient influence? How can leadership be held accountable to these goals and values?
Do away with monthly work requirements. Members of other successful unions and guilds, such as SAG-AFTRA, are not expelled if they are unemployed for a time.
Reduce the profit cut taken and structure the OAG around tiers of member fees and an annual donation drive instead. Operate on the same basis as organizations like the Organization for Transformative Works-- you're providing a valuable service, and those who benefit from or believe in that service will want to support that service to the best of their ability. Run donation drives and offer higher donation tiers of membership fees with the explicit understanding that higher membership fees do not provide greater benefits to the member, only provide more support to the guild. Membership fees and donation goals will also stabilize the guild's income and allow it a consistent budget.
Reconsider the guild's understanding of profit from artwork, and its very mission. Yes, the landlord system of copyright is extremely fraught. But OAG, as I understand it, would not overhaul copyright law or magically exclude its artists from its effects. Rather, OAG would create a collective force for bargaining and enforcement of individual artists' rights, and a collaborative space within the guild for a radical change in our understanding of what it means to "respect" that copyright. It bears a lot of similarities to the Organization for Transformative Works in that way, albeit primarily protecting profit-turning original works rather than transformative ones. This is important because individual artists cannot produce sufficient art at market price to survive off of selling their work only once. Small artists will be turned away from OAG if its philosophy precludes the validity of selling their art in forms like stickers, buttons, and shirts.
On the same note of reconsidering the OAG's mission and turning it to better serve its potential members, consider the merits of OAG running its own member-owned (and potentially member-operated) shop for the small things artists subsist off of-- prints, buttons, shirts, etc. Also consider what services OAG could provide to entice potential members, such as how SAG-AFTRA provides the option for medical insurance. This is also a major concern for freelance and independent artists and would be massively appealing. There are other things that only something like OAG could do, as well, such as coordinating a standing group of beta readers and sensitivity consultants partially paid through membership fees, lowering the requirements for artists to access that tool while providing better and more reliable pay and content moderation for the job.
Consider developing an initiation process for membership. OAG will have better prestige if a certain level of skill or quality, or at minimum a certain extent of portfolio and backlogged work, is necessary for full membership, but that will also reduce access to artists, so I would weigh this carefully. Potentially, newer or less experienced artists could have an apprentice membership title while they develop their skills. A (voluntary) mentorship program pairing more experienced member artists with apprentices learning their specialty could be a great incentive for joining the guild. In that case, some degree of member accreditation for specific artistic fields would be necessary, which does become a bit complicated.
Even if you don't have a formal initiation process for standard members, some degree of checks for stolen work, ai-generated work, and content farms would be a necessity.
If you have any intention to begin turning this wheel on your own, I recommend looking into if this project might qualify for any grants, and if so, using some of those funds to pay copyright lawyers to consult on the project and its ideas. If the basis is shaky and unclear, no artist will want to bind themselves to it, especially not when the price of entry is forsaking their only legal defense for their creative work. Paying artists and affiliated workers (editors, publishers, programmers for a potential website, storefronts) for consultation would also probably be a good idea, as possible.
Eventually, you will need to develop and provide proof of concept beyond overly formal pseudo-legalese terms and conditions. I get that it's in a very larval stage right now and you're seeking feedback on a very exciting idea, but randoms on tumblr who dislike copyright law aren't the best avenue for that. Connect with actual artists of several sizes, those large enough to live off their art and those who are not, and canvas them for their opinions of copyright and their understanding of it. Stop by an artist alley at a convention and ask the people with booths what resources would benefit them as an artist, and if they would enjoy operating under guidelines such as what you've laid out in your post-- what they would be willing to do and pay to participate in a community with these understandings shared between them, what they would be willing to do and pay to have the security of a guild with legal and artistic resources available to them. What they COULD do and pay for that. This is labor- and potentially cost-intensive, but there is no avoiding that if you actually want to make this happen in a way that takes off and serves artists.
Figure out what can be launched on a small scale and do it, then invite artists on board to test it.
At minimum, figure out what kind of legal entity OAG would be. Would it qualify as a trade union like SAG-AFTRA? Would it be a non-profit organization/corporation like OTW? These are the basics. It's gonna be hard to get people on board to work on something that stays nebulous. Working in a conceptual space is flexible, but it's also flimsy; people don't want to commit time, energy, or money to flimsy.
As an extension of that, set up OAG as a legal entity (whatever suits it best) and build it a simple website. Put something concrete into the world for people to sign onto.
TL;DR - cool concept, but it's just a concept right now, the sort of exciting thing drawn up in brainstorming and not yet grounded in practicality. That limits the potential for its development and growth. It lacks research and professional input. Consult experts. Consult artists. Get a PR person who can sell the idea. Etc. Put your boots to the ground and either start making it happen, or find someone who will. Otherwise, it will remain only a concept.
What's funny to me is that nobody cares about copyright outside the US and maybe, I dunno, Canada and Europe? For the entire third world, it's something we politely pretend is real so we don't hurt their feelings, but it's probably the fakest and less upheld concept here, absolutely nobody cares.
Some yanqui says something deranged like "um, uh, yeah, you should pay for every time you play a song otherwise you're stealing" and we just pat their head and say "claro que sí tesoro" while we download 15 GBs of movies and the local pizzeria has a mural of like Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny to promote it.
#harf blarf blib blab#reference#copyright law#i feel a wee bit mean about this... but i'm very tired of seeing concepts put in front of people without any substance backing them#this is how things like All or Nothing and dashcon happen. you get people excited w/ no proof you can make your thing happen#and people DO get excited and then it blows up and everyone suffers for it. hammer out the details first#and if you can't: don't expect people to trust or invest

Google Pixel 8 Pro Review: New Pixel, Old Problems
The Google Pixel 7 seasoned changed into an awesome cellphone normal. It packed in the whole lot a informal cellphone person could assume from an Android smartphone inclusive of, the now widespread, timely software updates. however it got here up quick in a few regions like battery existence, charging and had its honest share of heating troubles and digicam-related bugs as properly. With the new Pixel eight pro, there is a logo-new layout, lots of AI-enabled features and even a brand new processor. retaining this in thoughts, one might obviously expect Google to have labored on a few if no longer all of the shortcomings of its predecessor. however that's not exactly the case with Google's most modern Pixel flagship. Google Pixel eight pro fee in India not like final 12 months, Google's Pixel eight pro sooner or later offers a higher garage choice in India. After years of complaining approximately imparting a measly 128GB of storage with its base models, Google eventually decided to feature a brand new storage tier in India with the advent of a 256GB version. I obtained the 128GB storage variant for overview that's priced at Rs. 1,06,999 in India, whilst the 256GB variant is to be had at Rs. 1,thirteen,999. As referred to in my first impressions, both the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 pro, are Google's maximum steeply-priced Pixel smartphones to launch in India. honestly put, the new top-give up Pixel 8 seasoned has received a fee hike of Rs. 22,000, which instantly places it out of attain of numerous ability consumers. after which you have to keep in mind that even at Rs. 1,06,999, you are nevertheless getting just 128GB of internal garage and no unfastened cloud storage get entry to both. certainly, Google has its fingers full on the subject of convincing its present Pixel users to upgrade to the ultra-modern version this year. And it's possibly one of the motives why you are reading this overview. Google Pixel 8 seasoned overview: layout Google's Pixel 8 pro has seen extra adjustments than the same old Pixel 8 (assessment) this year. basically, Google's engineers got rid of a few pointless stuff and made some refinements to the Pixel 7 seasoned's design. keeping in thoughts its flat display, and normal flatter profile it qualifies as a brand new layout. however it's far an overhaul of sorts as the new Pixel eight pro nonetheless seems enormously Pixel. that is specially down to its sharper, visor-like digicam module on the returned that is as chunky as closing yr's version. The camera module's edges are quite sharp not like final 12 months's model, but i am satisfied Google retained its chunky sticking out look as it makes it less difficult to hold directly to the telephone's as a substitute slippery matte-completed frame by means of resting my index finger underneath it for guide. The matte-completed rear glass panel is a first for Google's Pixel variety and its standard rounded appearance and curves do strike a cord in me of the unique Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. As slippery as the rear panel is, it's incredible in terms of resisting fingerprints. At 213g the telephone does now not sense too heavy or too mild. This blended with the soft-finished glass returned lends the tool a completely top class and steeply-priced experience. Google also gives an IP68 score which is the same as on closing 12 months's version. build satisfactory is pretty solid and i'm glad Google ultimately bumped off the curved facet show which appeared pointless on a Pixel, for the reason that it by no means had any introduced software program capabilities like on Samsung's smartphones. Google Pixel 8 seasoned review: specifications and software program This yr's Pixel eight pro brings another new chipset referred to as the Tensor G3. it is built the use of the 4nm manufacturing manner, which in addition to its new nona-middle architecture must in idea translate to better overall performance and efficiency. but, Google is more focused on its AI abilities and that is where it's far anticipated to shine. 12GB RAM is general and the cellphone offers as much as 256GB of garage this yr with no expandable garage and no extra SIM card slot. however, you could use the eSIM functionality to use numbers on the same device. In phrases of connectivity, the Pixel 8 pro offers an upgraded WiFi 7 enjoy, Bluetooth five.three, NFC, a USB-C port, ultra-wideband (UWB) aid and aid for several global positioning structures. apart from the same old camera array, there is also a brand new thermometer which may be used to test the floor temperature of diverse materials. Google might be including support for checking frame temperature quickly, which could make it beneficial if it seems to be accurate. The telephone has a five,050mAh battery and helps 30W stressed out charging and 23W wireless charging. but, the field contents don't consist of a supported charging adapter. Going with the AI fashion, Google introduces its new AI wallpaper characteristic which is different to this year's Pixel 8 and 8 pro gadgets. It desires a web connection to paintings but chomps out a few genuinely precise and interesting wallpapers using its AI bits. The rest of Android 14 feels and appears just like what is to be had on a Pixel 7 pro. other new smarts which are available at the Pixel eight seasoned encompass the capability to examine aloud net pages or articles from an internet browser. Google Assistant can even translate an internet web page before analyzing it aloud which is also useful. The operation is nicely palms-unfastened at the Pixel eight pro (I could not get the feature to work efficiently on a Pixel 7 pro), which is useful in case your fingers are busy. The Pixel eight pro's AI modifying equipment, which can be available in its pictures app are jaw-droppingly superb in phrases of functionality. whilst the older Magic Eraser has gotten a lot better over the years, the newly advertised gear nonetheless want a chunk of polish in phrases of output. the new Magic Editor device lets you literally reposition human beings and items in a picture (which has to be uploaded to the cloud). The AI fashions positive are mind-blowing! At times it can get without a doubt difficult to tell if an photo has been edited in any respect. however, pixel-peeping into these photographs typically reveals a few clues. Magic Editor isn't ideal and should get polished with future updates, however it's far a completely effective tool however. The equal can be stated approximately the new quality Take feature which calls for a sequence of pictures of the equal putting so as to paintings. if you happen to have enough pictures of the identical human beings within the same setting, then it is as an alternative hard to inform if an photograph has been edited. Audio Magic Eraser is some other AI-enabled tool, that could impressively understand the sounds in a video. once activated, it listens to the clip and quickly identifies the special sounds after which categorises them (speech, nature, wind, noise and so on.) letting one regulate the stages to bump up the quantity of the sounds they want to listen (speech, nature) over the ones that they want to quieten (noise, wind). at the same time as I did no longer locate the results all that awesome, it's miles interesting to look how the AI model identifies the specific sounds in any given video. As debatable as these photo enhancing features are, i will see a variety of Pixel 8 and 8 seasoned customers assisting many that aren't able to snap 8504ca0e3fb5bfcdbdf1e8263f0c30ef pictures. furthermore, Pixel 8 pro users may look like wizards to elderly folk who usually don't grow to be composing a holiday picture right, and regularly request the unattainable, like shifting the Eiffel Tower a bit to the right. incredibly, all of that and more is now possible the usage of easy drag-and-drop tools. As dazzling because the Pixel eight pro's photographs and enhancing talents are this 12 months, I nonetheless confronted the identical camera worm as on ultimate 12 months's models. The night time Sight worm triggers whilst taking pictures again-to-again snap shots from the digicam app's night mode while transitioning from 1X to 2X. as soon as precipitated, all snap shots captured thereafter do now not get stored within the telephone, leaving one with a digicam on the way to let you click on pictures however no longer store them. The simplest manner to get the camera to begin storing snapped pics again is to restart the telephone or look ahead to the camera app to crash. For long, Pixel smartphones have always been the primary devices to acquire Android software program updates and Google has someway managed to one-up itself on this location with the Pixel eight and Pixel eight pro. Google claims that it's going to offer up to 7 years of software updates which incorporates its quarterly function Drops (that bring new functions) and safety updates. including to this commitment Google additionally defined that it will stock up on spares for those smartphones as nicely, in case your telephone receives broken or stops functioning over the subsequent 7 years. certainly such commitments will enchantment to folks that do not upgrade their gadgets often, however replacing your telephone much less regularly works properly for the surroundings because it additionally reduces e-waste. Google Pixel eight seasoned assessment: performance As for the Pixel eight pro's 6.7-inch QHD+ OLED display, it works properly below vibrant sunlight and shows pretty correct hues whilst set to the herbal shade mode. Its 120Hz dynamic refresh charge, that could drop to 1Hz when not being used, additionally works as anticipated. similar to remaining yr, battery records are not all that exquisite as I frequently found me achieving out for the charger by the give up of a work day with about 20 percentage left round 7:00 PM, after unplugging the phone at round 8:00 AM. in case you grow to be using the digicam and edit numerous images assume the battery stages to drop even quicker. In our video loop battery take a look at, the Pixel eight pro managed to closing for 14 hours and 15 minutes, which is slightly higher than the Pixel 7 seasoned, but not exceptional in comparison to what most smartphones in this section are capable of. Samsung's Galaxy S23 ultra which presently retails an additional Rs. 20,000 managed to last 21 hours and 7 mins in the equal check. at the Pixel 8 pro, most casual and excessive-end video games run just great at default settings. however the phone honestly isn't always as effective whilst compared to its Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered counterparts so don't anticipate faultless frame quotes whilst playing images-intensive titles like Genshin effect or rapid-paced games like call of duty: mobile. The phone does warm up after playing a few call of duty tournaments on ultra settings, however it does not get abnormally warm and that is particularly all the way down to CPU throttling. however, you can actually count on masses of body drops during gameplay as the Tensor G3 isn't truely designed for going for walks demanding titles on the exceptional settings. Ray-tracing, even as being quite new, is likewise now not supported. I additionally found the contact sampling to be a chunk sluggish when playing fast-paced FPS video games. The Tensor G3 in the Google Pixel eight pro controlled barely inferior ratings in comparison to most smartphones in this section and have been far under what Apple's modern-day iPhone 15 seasoned Max is able to. The Pixel eight pro scored 10,38,343 factors in AnTuTu and controlled ratings of one,629 and three,274 in Geekbench's single and multi-core assessments. to present you an idea about where Google's Pixel 8 seasoned stands, the lower-priced OnePlus eleven 5G (QHD+ display) which we reviewed in advance this 12 months scored eleven,89,556 points and Samsung's Galaxy Z flip 5 (FHD+ display) managed a rating of 12,87,359 whilst the iPhone 15 pro Max managed a relaxed lead scoring 16,sixty one,205 points in our evaluation. Google sticking with its own Tensor design for its processor does have its downsides as they have not begun to figure out higher approaches to address all the processing that happens after snapping a photograph. similar to the Pixel 7 seasoned, the Pixel 8 seasoned struggles while shooting Portrait mode snap shots and could forestall shooting photographs (or disable the shutter button) while the picture buffer is complete after clicking around 7-eight portrait mode images in short succession. It does this to finish processing them in the heritage and will let one snap greater pictures most effective as soon as it's carried out processing those that have already been captured. at the same time as this does not appear to be a massive trouble, I did end up lacking several moments at the same time as snapping photos of my youngster. capturing uncooked pictures additionally takes some time to technique, as compared to the iPhone 15 seasoned Max which is almost instant. For a phone it's extra targeted and recognised for its photography features, it is unhappy to see that the latest Tensor G3 SoC isn't always capable of handling the fundamentals. Google in reality has to paintings on the Tensor G3's imaging pipeline or go along with a separate imaging chip completely for dealing with all of its digicam requirements because the modern Tensor G3 processor honestly isn't always up for the process. despite every day utilization, something as easy as scrolling through internet pages and social media apps (even YouTube) can get jittery at instances. Scrolling is jittery while the use of both native and 1/3-celebration apps and this is some thing many users have complained approximately on Reddit as nicely. Google took its own candy time to try to clear up its Pixel 7 pro's scrolling troubles, but these have not begun to be resolved correctly. The telephone nevertheless receives warm whilst using the digital camera app, mainly when capturing extra complex digital camera modes like Portrait and night mode. The telephone also gets quite hot outdoors when related to 5G networks. Google nonetheless does not provide any cooling solution (apart from CPU throttling) with its Pixel phones, which continues them walking heat most of the time when used outside. Many chinese language cellphone manufacturers have adopted vapour chamber cooling to preserve performance ranges at the same time as acting power-in depth duties. This year's Samsung Galaxy S23 additionally utilised the identical, making it run a lot cooler in comparison to its predecessor. So, it's certainly a thriller why Google refuses to include the same in its flagship Pixel smartphones. the brand new and at ease Face release characteristic works as quick as Apple's Face identity authentication, however, it handiest works well (or quick) in excellent lights. Dimly lit settings will see the digital camera struggling to recognize faces, that's when I needed to revert to the best antique fingerprint scanner, which happily labored as predicted. Google Pixel 8 seasoned review: Cameras This year's Pixel 8 pro comes with several enhancements inside the digital camera department as nicely. Key amongst these is the new forty eight-megapixel extremely-huge-attitude digicam which replaces the 12-megapixel digicam on the previous model. there is a new brighter 50-megapixel number one digital camera as properly but I anticipate minor improvements (if any) with this one. the entirety else aside from the brand new Tensor G3 remains the same, which is not a terrible deal because the previous Pixel 7 pro changed into no longer bad at imaging to start with. The digital camera modes had been remodeled at the Pixel eight pro. The Pixel 8 pro mainly this 12 months receives a special seasoned mode called pro Controls, which brings advanced digicam controls for cellphone camera enthusiasts who favor to tweak matters a bit earlier than capturing or even as recording. To be clean, the Pixel 8 seasoned's seasoned Controls mode is not as advanced as the Samsung Galaxy S23 ultra's digicam app which also gives numerous controls for video. The Pixel eight seasoned's seasoned controls appear lots more person-pleasant (designed for the common Joe), and pretty realistic at the same time, easily making it plenty better in phrases of capability and control whilst taking pictures video, even if as compared to an iPhone 15 seasoned Max, I reviewed in advance. not like the Pixel 7 seasoned in which one receives get admission to to brightness, shadow and white balance sliders in the viewfinder when capturing, the Pixel eight pro hides all of its seasoned controls beneath a settings button placed at the pinnacle right nook. Tapping on it offers one access to advanced controls like night time Sight length, brightness, shadow, white balance, awareness, shutter velocity and ISO as properly. I specifically favored the focal point manipulate as it highlights the presently focused region in crimson way to a focus peaking characteristic like on a actual digital camera. Tapping on the standard tools icon at the lowest now opens a complete menu with a special seasoned tab in which you could select the decision (binned or full frame), output kind (uncooked/JPEG) and a completely reachable Lens choice selector, which lets you pick out between car or guide. choosing auto essentially gets you the whole zoom range which additionally includes the digital levels among the local focal lengths (zero.5X, 1X and 5X). The manual receives you access to simply the native focal lengths, which switches off the camera's computerized lens selection. this is useful to keep away from using the wrong camera (which the cellphone mechanically selects depending on the gap of the object/subject from the lens. This regularly leads to digitally cropped and scaled pix. So, in case your problem is just too near for the 5X telephoto digital camera, it just may not attention, letting you already know which you need to hold a more distance to get the suitable shot. Pixel eight pro additionally shall we one shoot in raw the use of all 3 cameras which means you can get high-decision (50 or 48-megapixel) uncooked snap shots which may be tweaked later in the put up. As for the video, pro Controls only lets you tweak white stability and publicity on this mode. The Pixel eight seasoned and Pixel 7 seasoned camera samples were captured in daylight and coffee light the usage of their primary cameras ( Read the full article

Logan Sargeant Faces Uncertain Future Ahead of Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
As the Formula 1 season concludes with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, American driver Logan Sargeant finds himself at a crossroads, uncertain about his future with Williams. The young talent is closing out his rookie season, which has seen glimpses of promise but remains marked by uncertainty.
Team principal James Vowles confirmed that the decision regarding Sargeant's retention at Williams has not been altered despite recent improvements in performance. Sargeant secured a career-best qualifying performance of sixth in Las Vegas and has shown increased consistency in recent races, but Williams remains contemplative about the next step.
Vowles explained, "The reason why I set it out so boldly before is I wanted to take the entire season and then take time to properly digest every single race, assess the growth, assess the potential and assess the direction of travel."
Acknowledging Sargeant's progress over the past races, Vowles expressed a desire to see another strong performance in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix before making a decision. While he has alternative drivers available, his preference is to provide Sargeant with the opportunity to flourish and earn his place.
Sargeant himself remains uncertain about the future, stating, "I wish I knew as well!… I’m not sure [if there’s a second season] is the honest answer. The most important thing is it’s been getting better and better throughout the second half of the year."
Reflecting on his improved performance and form in recent rounds, Sargeant maintains a race-by-race approach, focusing on the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix without putting undue pressure on himself. The American driver aims to finish the season on a high note and hopes for clarity regarding his future in the aftermath of the final race.
"I just take it race-by-race. Obviously, I want to be here next year — that’s the goal. It’s been getting better and better, so I am confident with how I’m driving. I’m confident coming into this race; it’s a track I know well, so just plan to continue on what we’ve been doing and just taking it as it comes," Sargeant shared.
As the paddock awaits the outcome of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Logan Sargeant remains determined to make the most of the final race weekend, showcasing his skills and hoping for a positive resolution to his future with Williams.

SNK 139 Review Part II: On Attack on Titan and Nihilism
When reading SNK, it’s easy to think this story has a very uplifting message.
The survey corps fights the titans and takes heavy losses. Every expedition is a blood bath. Numerous unnamed NPCs face gruesome deaths. The OG Levi Squad dies, Commander Erwin dies, Sasha dies. It’s a horrible toll. But if anything, their deaths are a source of strength rather than discouragement. To give up is to let them die in vain. To make their deaths meaningless.
The efforts of our heroes is a collective one. No matter who may die, so long as there are others to continue the fight, it’s not pointless. When Erwin leads the charge against the Beast Titan, he surrenders himself to the needs of his men. His men need a leader who can execute a plan that will give humanity the best chance for success. Erwin takes that role at the cost of his life and dreams. He does it because it’s the right thing to do.
For most of its run, SNK is replete with moments of people working together to achieve long odds, and even moments of stunning selflessness in pursuit of those achievements.
That’s very uplifting. Even someone who can turn into a titan can’t carry everyone to victory. It has to be a team effort. When it matters, people can work together and when they work together, they can achieve great things. People will even sacrifice for that effort. They may not get to enjoy the fruits of their efforts, but at least their children will.
And though most people would rather live a peaceful life, they will choose to take action when they see they’ve been collectively tricked or wronged.
In sum, people are good. Humanity rises above their masters and makes a better world for themselves. Pretty uplifting, ngl.
For me, though, I think this is only half the story for SNK.
All throughout the series, there’s a strong emphasis placed on not only needing to work together, not only needing to sacrifice, but needing to kill to win.
SNK places a heavy emphasis on needing to kill. The slavers need to die, the people fighting for the government need to die, 80% of humanity needs to die.
If I want to live, then other people need to die. It’s rough but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make.
Obviously, except for Eren’s genocide, killing people has been justified in this series. Slavers were threatening your life; government soldiers were fighting for an evil government. Using deadly force is not wrong in those situations.
The problem is that SNK is a story. The narrative is constructed by the author to convey an idea or to make a point.
Not only are characters constantly called upon to kill their enemies, they are punished for hesitating.
Eren’s hesitance to fight Annie forces the survey corps to fight her alone and they suffer heavy casualties.
The 104th’s hesitance to kill Reiner in Shighanshina gives him enough time to signal the Beast Titan to throw the Bert Bomb.
Every attempt by Armin to seek dialogue with his enemies fails. This trend reaches its absurd climax in the final chapter where, after Armin saying he was going to try to talk no jutsu Eren, it’s Eren who talk no jutsus Armin!
And in the end, Marleyans and Eldians never were able to make peace.
So the original assessment of the “uplifting” message of the story needs to be qualified: people will work together and even make sacrifices, but only if it’s for their tribe.
I do not deny that sometimes there can be no peace. Sometimes circumstances are such that violence cannot be avoided. I don’t even deny that sometimes resorting to violence can be the right thing to do. I do not endorse passiveness.
But in trying to expound his ideas on the nature of things, the author presents us with a funhouse mirror version of reality.
People are not as tribalistic as the author presents. People can rise above their prejudices and see the humanity in their enemies. Empathy is what comes naturally to people; violence is purely situational.
Not only is this just basic human nature, it’s just basic logic. Of course people are better off working together and supporting each other. If they weren’t then why would tribes like Eldians and Marleyans even exist at all?
Why don’t we live in a world where it’s every man for himself?
It’s because people realize, on some level, that however happy they may be going it alone, they can be even happier, even more prosperous with others.
What SNK (and, frankly, a lot of people) miss is that the logic of this fact can be extended to all of humanity. If people are better off as a tribe, then why can’t all of humanity be a tribe?
There’s no reason why it can’t, but the author seems intent on presenting a narrative where the stars align to preclude a peaceful outcome…in a way that implies that peace is ultimately impossible.
“The world is cruel, but also beautiful.”
Not even that! The world isn’t cruel! The world has its cruelties, but fundamentally, we live in a good world. But Attack on Titan harps on this nihilistic message so much, it’s bizarre.
The state of the world today is one of unprecedented international cooperation. Armed conflict today is limited to skirmishes and civil wars. To the extent that countries war with each other anymore, the scope of the conflict is not as destructive.
Situations requiring deadly force do still arise, but they are far from the norm. Today’s world is safer than ever.
If the story had remained fully divorced from our world, then I could have accepted its bleak message as a cautionary tale about needing to work together for the greater good.
But after the battle of Shighanshina arc, the show started talking explicitly about racism and international relations, which of course requires the story to make certain presumptions about what our world is like.
It’s too bad, then, that SNK’s presumptions about the world are fundamentally broken.
You DON’T need to be strong to survive in our world. You need to be resilient, but strong? Powerful? No, you don’t need that.
SNK harps on needing to be powerful to protect what you love the exact same way the NRA harps on needing ten different kinds of guns under your bed.
Gotta have at least ten AK-47s locked and loaded under the bed with 5,000 rounds of ammo. You can never be too sure. You never know what’s lurking around the corner.
Unfortunately, in the world of SNK, this deranged mantra is actually reasonable. Everyone in the SNK world is tribalistically unhinged, save for a select few like Hange and Armin.
And the series may depict the tribalistic masses as baser than them, but the fact that people like Armin are so outnumbered in this world just proves my point that the story’s understanding of human nature is wrongheaded.
Speaking of worldviews and SNK: in hindsight, Eren is a lot like an incel, isn’t he?
I’m only partially saying that to troll people.
After the final chapter came out, lots of people were saying Eren had been reduced to an incel. Eren isn’t literally an incel, but I think those people are on to something.
Incels and people who subscribe to that whole alpha male/beta male hierarchy tend to hate happy couples because it’s what they want but don’t. So they lash out. They see a happy couple and splash water on them before running away.
Eren’s mindset, at least for the first couple of chapters, could have been read in a similar light.
Eren’s obsession with freedom was him splashing water on people. Eren didn’t seem to have a fun childhood. He was an outcast and bullied often. We don’t see anyone else having to put up with that.
So when he yells at people that they’re not free because the titans exist, what he’s actually doing is venting his resentment that most people don’t have to live in fear of bigger people stealing their lunch money like he does.
That’s all just Eren trying to inflate the threat the titans posed, so far as anyone knew at the time, even him. Strange as it may sound, at the time, the bullies were a bigger threat to Eren than the titans were to humanity, since there wasn’t a massive wall shielding Eren from his tormentors.
The Colossal Titan’s appearance was what they call a black swan event. It was unforeseeable. And the walls had stood for 100 years prior without worry. So in spite of the titan’s existence, the walldians’ presumed safety was not only reasonable, it was arguably a matter of fact.
This reading would also indicate that Eren’s belief in a cruel world didn’t start with his mom, it started with the people who bullied him.
This is only the first chapter I’m talking about here, though. The titans did breach the walls, the world really is cruel, and Eren fights for freedom because he was born that way, whatever that means.
I only bring this up because that would have been far more interesting than the path the story took.
Eren fights for freedom because that’s just how he is by nature. Reiner broke the wall because that’s just how he is by nature. People suck because that’s just how they are by nature.
When Eren was willing to give Reiner a pass for what he did on grounds of environment and history, Reiner counters that, really, he’s just a shitty person. It is from this that Eren finds commonality with him.
SNK is a very deterministic series. Not only are people puppets on the strings of fate, who they are as people is immutable from birth. Mikasa may not be a slave to her “programming,” but that’s only because in a very real way, everyone is.
I was convinced, in the first half of the series, that Eren was so obsessed with freedom that I thought the punchline would be that Eren was just coping with some insecurity. And…there was no punchline. Eren suffers insecurity as the series goes on, but his mindset and worldview doesn’t stem from anything.
Eren doesn’t cry about how unfree he is because he’s an incel-esque brat who’s jealous that other people live happier lives than him, he’s just born that way.
Eren isn’t incel-like because unlike an incel, Eren’s ideas about how the world works is actually correct.
…
In hindsight, SNK is like an incel’s revenge fantasy that tried to explore what drives popular resentment, but just didn’t have the insight to pull it off.
People don’t resent others because they were harmed by that someone. Not necessarily. And people don’t act because they were born a certain way.
The concept of people defying what’s instinctive to them is at least acknowledged by the series, but I don’t think it ever actually happens, aside from situations where someone has to murder someone else against their own visceral disgust. When it’s necessary for the series to push the message that the world is cruel.
I don’t even think Mikasa killing Eren counts. Mikasa loves Eren, and the point of that moment was that Mikasa was able to kill Eren without disavowing her love for him.
People who go on murderous rampages because think the world is fundamentally cruel and they very reluctantly must kill their enemies to protect themselves are, very obviously, cranks.
It’s like saying the earth is flat. It’s nonsense. Gibberish.
I think this is why people were put off by the final chapter. The mass murderer’s worldview, which should have been depicted as nonsensical, instead, was more or less affirmed.
The world is cruel, the enemies were real, and the murderer got away with it.
Until the new ending came out. Let’s talk about that.
My take is that Isayama’s editors read him the riot act about letting Paradis survive and thereby giving Eren what he wanted, and about being too soft on Eren in general, so they forced him to change the ending.
If that read is correct, then it didn’t work. The ending still sucks.
The ending strictly speaking isn’t bad because Eren got what he wanted or not. I’ve written for a long time that denying Eren his preferred outcome should happen, but that’s only because it would establish that what Eren represented was incorrect. That peace was, in fact, possible.
The ending sucks because the morals and message of the story align with Eren’s and events are structured accordingly. Eren “loses” but not in a way that’s worse than what he was already going to suffer through, and his friends loved him in the end.
A few pages tacked on to the end showing a ruined Paradis decades in the future doesn’t change that. It doesn’t deny him the moral victory.
So now we come to the end: how to sum up Attack on Titan?
Attack on Titan is a story about nothing. It’s about a world where everyone is a slave, fate is the master, and people have to subject themselves to the most gruesome circumstances imaginable because fate commanded it.
In this world, doing right by yourself and others leads to death and destruction, instead of to peace and prosperity like it does in our world.
Responding to persecution with (prophylactic!) genocide is not obviously ridiculous.
Attack on Titan is nihilism.

Hiiiii all! Uhh so firstly I had my final assessment on Monday and passed so I am now a fully qualified train driver! Obviously I'm very happy and also bricking it slightly because it's a super responsible role!
Because everything else has kind of taken a backseat in recent weeks, I'm begging another day for Starman again. 5k is written, I'm nearly at the end but I just need a few hours to finish and check it all makes some sort of sense 😅
In the meantime, have a preview...
"I'm still confused about what happened here," she remarked as she twisted his curls around her fingers. "I love it though." He himself wasn't sure. He believed that the stress of his fragile form travelling through whatever the phenomenon was that had brought him to this place had wrought the change - had made his hair shockingly white. But perhaps even more bizarrely it had grown out, his dark roots reappearing one day a few months later. Except for one patch - a small part at his hairline on the right hand side. She bent down and he smiled, anticipating her kiss. But it never came.
