I genuinely think if you showed someone with no knowledge of Hetalia some of the fan content they would think it was one of the most complex, beautiful and human animes ever. Like there are some beautiful historical fan fictions, doujinshi and fan art out there which really humanises the characters and gets into the reality of being immortal, how hard it is to love with all the responsibilities of being a nation and what it is like to try to identify with your nationality/country and the pride and pain that comes from that. And in reality Hetalia is just Germany screaming at Italy for cooking pasta and England calling America stupid and fat for 7 whole seasons.

Nothing is canon in hetalia so I’m making my own list of headcanons regarding worldbuilding and al that whimsical stuff

I should probably mention this is inspired by THE worldbuilding hc post, I reblog it all the time but just in case you haven’t read it (how could you), you can do that here

Oh also umm all of these are both serious and not. Take them all with a grain of salt as they say. Im just having fun

I think thats it… lets go

Their body temperature depends on their climate. Sort of. Technically they all have a normal body temp, but you know how some people are always cold? In that way.

I think it’s canon actually that climates influence the general character of a personifications… although romano exists… so maybe not…. Not sure about that one.

They don’t get sick, in fact I hc they CANT get sick with normal human diseases. Their well being depends on the state of their people/the country. They get „sick” from wars, rebellions, econimic issues etc.

They can’t reproduce. Except for the times they can. Because egypt.

They exist as long as people feel connected to the idea of a „nation” or otherwise feel connected to that identity. Even if they „die”, as long as there are people who consider themselves a certain nationality, they can come back to life.

I’m partial to the idea of some of them appearing just because they were created artificially… like brčko. I will never actually talk more about her all you get is cryptic little puzzle pieces of info about her. Anyways she magically appeared when some documents were signed because funny

I’m unsure what happens when a nation is wiped out. Like when every person who was once a part of that nation either dies or stops identifying with it… maybe they get sick and die but maybe instead they turn into a human and slowly age, then die as the last person of that nationality….

They need to eat sleep etc but can go without doing any of that for longer periods of time than normal humans

They have hobbies and interests and can love humans but have no ambition or desire to live. Not even an animal like urge to live to pass something on. Because they really can’t. They exist to live and to vibe only. And despite no aspiration to live they will beg for mercy if you put a knife to their throat…. Hah… thats so weird

Immensly calming aura to normal people. Probably works better on people of their own nationality, they bring a sort of inspirational energy to the room. I feel as thought they inspired poets and artists, and all those works dedicated to the idea of a nation were actually about a being…

Despite being able to die (technically, even if not permanently) it takes them hundreds of years to understand the concept of death.

Same with aging, it makes no sense how a human deteriorates in, say, 60 years. How little that is, compared to their own age.

Mentioned it before but they get, or at least most of them used to - get attached to their leaders. It wears off the older they get because they simply get used to the fact they change so often, at least from their perspective

Most of them are pretty open with the fact theyre not humans. If you ask them i image most would just go haha yea thats me I’m 6969 years old lol

I’m very much aware that the rule which i think is canon based on one ep…. That pgysica age related to land mass, is stupid bullshit and generally doesn’t apply in half the cases. And therefore I’ll say to me, I just accept whatever canon physical age you want to give to a character. Whatever reason you want for it is acceptable too.

Hetalia - Braport Set during Brazil's war of independence. Someone had assassinated Brazil; Portugal couldn't not go see him.

When he woke, there was a commotion outside the room. The light around him was too bright for his already aching head and he closed his eyes again with a groan. As he adjusted to living again the door slammed open. The sudden shouted jumble of his humans' language hurt his ears and he was grateful when the door slammed shut. Unfortunately there were footsteps across the floor and he considered pretending to still be dead.

"Lucinho. I know you're back."

The warm familiar voice convinced him to be alive again. Portugal was leaned over him, warmth in his eyes despite the frown. Even at war, there was no one he'd rather see first thing after waking.

"Your people tried to kill me," Brazil said.

"I know."

Brazil sighed at the pleasant feeling of Portugal's fingers through his hair. His touch soothed the lingering pain and comforted him in a way nothing else could.

"What was all that outside?"

"Your people thought they could stop me from seeing you."

Brazil laughed and took Portugal's hand, lightly kissing his fingers before placing it over his heart.

"You know we're at war."

"Our humans are at war. That has nothing to do with me."

Brazil closed his eyes again with a hum. As much as he agreed with what his humans were trying to achieve, as much as their collective feelings could affect his personal emotions, he still loved Portugal.

"How are you?"

"Alive. But I still feel dead. I might need a kiss."

Portugal snorted and shook his head.

"What am I going to do with you?"

But he did lean down. First he kissed his forehead, then his nose, then his cheeks, and Brazil was about to express his displeasure when Portugal finally got his lips. That was what he'd been missing.

Portugal withdrew before Brazil was finished, just far enough to lean his forehead on Brazil's. Brazil pulled the ribbon loose and combed his fingers through Portugal's hair. Playing with Portugal's hair always helped him feel better.

"How long was I dead?"

"Just a few days."

"Anything important happen?"

"A few battles ended in your favor."

"Good. For my humans."

Portugal laughed and straightened again. Immediately Brazil missed the intimate closeness.

"Your humans are determined, and fighting hard. Even harder after you were killed."

Brazil remembered the emotions that had surged through him as he fell. Panic, worry, anger. Shooting him had pissed them off more than anything. Given them another reason to fight. Personally, he'd been terrified.

"They haven't told me who shot you."

Brazil smiled and pat Portugal's hand. Of course they weren't going to. Whoever that human was, they had guts shooting him like that. Ordered to or otherwise. Brazil had thought any death he experienced would be at the hands of another nation. Not a human in the name of Portugal.

"I don't know what they hoped to accomplish. Surely they know we can't die."

"Sending a message. Or maybe they thought with the war, you would stay dead."

"And leave you in a world without me? I would never."

Portugal laughed and it was the best sound Brazil had heard in a while. Then he leaned down and this time, the kiss was more to Brazil's satisfaction. Until Portugal stopped with a sigh.

"I should be going. I don't want to anger your people more than I already have."

"What if I want my Afonso? What are they going to do about it?"

"Question how much you care about them."

"That's dumb. I love my people."

Portugal chuckled and pecked his lips again before standing.

"They won't see it that way. Now do what you need to do. I'll be waiting."

Hetamori: Hetalia Omori AU

This one goes out to you, starchilll.

When it comes to an Omori AU, I think the perfect fit is to focus on the Axis, as well as make this a human AU, because ofc. They would all be aged up just a bit, ie: Omori is 12 in Headspace, Romano would probably be 15 in Headspace. And then aged up to like, 19 in Real World.

Yes, Romano would be Sunny. Give him a protagonist role, cowards!!! I think he'd be an amazing protag, especially for a game like this!!

And yes, that means Italy is Mari.

I think the dynamic between the two is really fitting for them to be Sunny and Mari. Despite being older, it's canon that Romano always feels 2nd-best to his brother, in everything. Everyone likes him more, everyone considers him a closer friend, a better painter, cook, all around person. It sucks. It's awful.

And that... Kinda seems to be how Sunny feels about Mari. At least, with music.

The game gives the context needed to understand it, too. In the Lost Library, we see how frustrated and upset Sunny is about not being able to enjoy time with his friends because he's trying to practice the violin, the entire arc with Sweetheart and how nothing's ever good enough for her, the fight we watch play out in the photographs that lead to Mari's death. Like, clearly Sunny felt some sort of like, anger towards his violin, enough to break it. And I think the same would be for Romano.

I see it playing out like this: Romano picks up the violin first. It's his thing. Music is the one thing he can be good at without Italy interfering. Then, shocker, Italy wants to join his brother because he loves him and wants to do things with him!! He picks piano. And Italy, ofc, is better at piano that Romano is at violin.

It sucks. It's awful. It causes so much anger that, when the time comes for their recital, Romano breaks the violin, and when Italy confronts him, pushes him down.

He didn't mean it. Ofc he didn't mean it, that's his brother, yes he's angry- he doesn't hate him, though. Does he? Could he ever? Not enough to kill him.

But it's too late. He can't take that back.

And as Omori goes, someone helps him to hide the accident. And Romano represses the memory, isolates himself, and sleeps all day and night to pretend everything is okay.

But it doesn't work. Something will always follow behind him. Something will always try to lead him back to the truth.

Smth of that nature, anyway.

As far as the others. I think Spain is the best fit for Kel, given their relationship (And I can totally see Spain knocking on Romano's door every day for 4 years trying to get him to come outside). Germany would be Hero, ofc, given his relationship to Italy.

Which comes down to Basil and Aubrey.

Basil - Japan Aubrey - Prussia.

So this one I kinda need to stretch more and consider their personalities rather than their relationships with the other characters.

Prussia I think is less of a stretch, I do think it's within his character to go down the route Aubrey does in the game if someone that close to him did pass on and he had no support. And well, he can't turn to Germany who is dealing with his own grief, Romano became a shut in, Spain probably tried to help but if he's also doing well and making new friends and everything then, yk, the feeling of abandonment is still there.

Plus, canonically, Prussia is very close to Italy (at least from what I remember). He does have religious ties, he has that vibe of being scary and intimidating, I think it can work.

As for Japan. That's the hardest.

I think Japan could end up in Basil's place. We already know he canonically isolated himself for like, 100 years (? (I say canonically as if this wasn't a real life event)). And if he's the one who helped Romano hide the accident, then yeah, isolating and going crazy from guilt isn't off the table. But I am also borrowing this idea from his role in Dreamtalia, sooo. Idk.

Why he would help Romano is also very complicated. The reason would have to change or the relationship would have to change to make it work. But it's an AU so it's not like it has to be 100% accurate.

Idk, I think it's fun, this is really just meant to be a "what if" scenario unless I decide to make this into a fanfiction. My only real gripe is Prussia and Japan's roles (mainly Prussia. I so wish the allies could work in this scenario cause England would make the PERFECT Aubrey but whatever)

Idk. Anyone have thoughts?

Oooh this is a good one! I'm also going to share musicals that make me think of some ships too because I want to ramble about the two musicals that make me think of a GerEng AU.

Okay but Characters.

Canada- Dear Evan Hansen

I know. Kind of basic. But I love DEH. "Waving Through a Window" is such a Mattie song. But what really sells the idea for me is that "So Big / So Small" is such a good song for Royal Red Bros. Francis is the dad that left, and Arthur tries to pick up the pieces, but also fails Matthew. Just the dynamic between Evan's Mom and Evan is just perfect for these two. Like Evan's mom does love Evan, but being a single mom isn't easy and to provide for him she has to work ridiculous hours so she's not there for him physically. Which is a similar postion Arthur finds himself in.

Also the lines

"That night I tucked you into bed

I will never forget how you sat up and said

'Is there another truck coming to our drive way?

A truck that will take mommy away.'"

Just hit me so hard with feels for Arthur and Matt. Just imagining a little Mattie asking Arthur one night if Arthur is going to leave him behind too. Because Francis left and Arthur seems so much more focused on Alfred. Matthew it terrified it will happen again. And it breaks Arthur's heart.

Canada - Next to Normal (Specifically the song "Superboy and the Invisible Girl")

I don't know enough about what this musical is actually about other than we follow our main character Diana who is struggling with bipolar disorder and hallucinations of her dead son. And basically I think it shows how her condition affects her family?

But we did "Superboy and the Invisible Girl" for some concert once and I actually played Diana. And every time I rehearsed this song, all I could think of was ACE Family.

It is primarily Natalie, Diana's daughter, feeling neglected and ignored because of her Mother's grief over her son's death.

This line really makes me think of the two, especially after Alfred has become independent and Matthew attempts to pick up the pieces of a broken Arthur:

"Super boy and the invisible girl

He's the one you'd wish would appear

He's your hero, forever your son

He's not here, I am here"

Of course I choose something obvious. You know how much I love Arthur with kids. And Mary Poppins is that strict parental figure, but she does want what's best for the kids in her care, and I think that's perfect for Arthur.

Also I just love imagining Arthur singing "Feed the Birds."

Also also. get 2p England involved and make Oliver Bert. So double the Englands making it more fitting. Alternatively Gilbert could be Bert to make it Pruk instead.

GerEng - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

I have this whole musical casted with Hetalia characters. But the summary first because its probably a musical not many know. I really don't know how to encompass everything so I'm just going to steal the summary from IMDb:

"A down-on-his-luck inventor turns a broken-down Grand Prix car into a fancy vehicle for his children, and then they go off on a magical fantasy adventure to save their grandfather in a far-off land."

God I had orginally had a long decription of a cast list for this but I'll ramble about that in another post. All you need to know though:

Arthur as Caratacus Potts - The down on his luck inventor and single father. Sometimes his work distracts him, but he really does love his kids

Ludwig as Truly Scrumptious - A candy heiress who meets the Potts family after almost running over the children when they run out into the road. She and Caratacus kind of get off on the wrong foot when she argues that the kids should be in school and not running around. But after he impresses her with his inventions and she joins them on their adventure in their magic car, the two fall in love.

Peter as Jeremy and Jemimah - Because I can't think of a second child to go with Peter I just have Peter right now. Because I love GerEng being dads to him.

Anyway. The songs.

First we have "You Two" which actually makes me imagine things separate from this au. Because this is also so good for ACE Family. I ramble about it more here.

"Doll On a Music Box" One of my favourite songs to listen too to daydream about GerEng. Just them pulling the same stunt Caratacus and Truly do to rescue the kids. Also Ludwig dressed up as a doll is a nice image.

"Lovely Lonely Man" Could work for either of them, but I always have loved the idea of Ludwig singing this about Arthur. Because Ludwig fell fast just like the song suggests while Arthur took a bit of time. It's just a perfect monologue of Ludwig admitting his feelings to himself.

God I could go on but I'll save the rest for a separate post

Okay one last one for GerEng! Music Man.

Summary from Stage Agent: "There’s trouble in River City! When smooth-talking con man Harold Hill arrives in a small, tight-knit town in Iowa, he expects to dupe its residents with his elaborate moneymaking scheme: Despite his complete lack of musical literacy, he will convince everyone that he is a brilliant bandleader and recruit all the boys in town to form a band, pocketing the cash for instruments and uniforms. The problem? Some of the town members, especially the stern librarian, Marian Paroo, don’t quite buy Harold’s story. As Harold struggles to keep his scheme afloat, he also finds himself increasingly attached to the townspeople, who have all experienced a positive change since Harold came to town. Complicating matters even more, Harold is also falling head-over-heels for the beautiful Marian."

God I could go on about this one too, but keeping it brief:

Arthur as the con man Harold Hill selfish and prideful only to have a change of heart by forming genuine connections within the town.

Ludwig as the stern yet also hopeless romantic Marian. That despite knowing Arthur is a con man sees him grow and falls for him

"Goodnight My Someone / Seventy-Six Trombones (Double Reprise)" The two leads main songs coming together with them singing each other's half way through. God I just love thinking of GerEng for this scene so much! I think its so romantic to sing each other's themes to each other.

Also "Goodnight My Someone" on its own is very fitting for Ludwig. As is Marian's chacter as whole. Both are stern indivduals, refusing to take nonsense from anyone. They seem like a stick in the mud, perhaps a little cold, but both have a sweetness deep down, longing for connection. And "Goodnight My Someone" is when we first see this side of Marian.

"Marian the Librarian" Just the back and forth and tension in this song. Hill/Arthur is kind of a dick. Flirting, but really he's just playing a game at this point and bugging Marian/Ludwig at work when they're clearly aren't having it. It's another fun scene I like imagining GerEng. Especially since Arthur is really pushing his luck angering someone who could snap him like a toothpick he'd be into that let's be honest but that's not a discussion for this blog

My Review of Spy x Family

How did I get into this anime? Out of the many, many, many sequels I had on my plate for the spring 2022 anime season, I knew I had to see this one. Fans have been pumping this anime up nearly a year in advance as being the next big thing. Too bad the fandom died once Chainsaw Man reared its head. Crunchyroll started to promote this anime months in advance too. So here I am!

Twilight is a secret agent who keeps the peace. He is the master spy of Westalis and will happily prevent any kind of turmoil between Westalis and their neighboring country Ostania. Twilight has been able to do all of his tasks flawlessly. His next mission might be his most difficult one yet. In order to investigate this one politician, he must infiltrate the prestigious Eden Academy. In order for this mission to be a success, Twilight must embark on the toughest challenge of all. Twilight must start a family. Twilight (despite his handsome face) is more of a married to his work kind of fella. Even the whole thing about having a fake family seems a little too much.

So, Twilight adopts a fake persona, fake name, a woman to be his fake wife, and a kid to be his fake daughter. At this point, Twilight will be known as Loid Forger. First, he adopts a daughter from an orphanage. Anya is a six-year-old with an unbelievable power. She’s an Esper and can read peoples minds. As for the wife, he picks a ditzy City Hall worker named Yor. And yes, she has a secret as well. Yor is a secret lethal assassin. And she’s okay with posing as his wife so that people around her stop being suspicious of her being a single woman over 25. But Loid asks Yor to be his wife so that he could get Anya into Eden Academy. That school prefers the two-parent household. And of course, for Anya’s well-being!

There you have it, a spy, an assassin, and an Esper start a family and play house.

BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: As I said before, Crunchyroll got first dibs on this anime early on. I think they recognized the popularity of the manga and thought this would be their big cash cow of the year before the next cash cow came six months later. They were even faster than normal releasing the dub to this. It was even leaked less than a week from the Japanese premier. The popularity of this series is downright insane. Although I will stick to the Japanese version! Nothing against the English cast, but I just prefer Atsumi Tanezaki voicing Anya. Here’s what you might recognize these folks from.

JAPANESE CAST: *Twilight/Loid is played by Takuya Eguchi (known for Cheren on Pokemon BW, Takeo on Ore Monogatari, Kakeru on Fruits Basket 2019, Shuuji on Tokyo Revengers, Ryouma on Love Stage, and Julius on Re:Zero)

DISLIKED CHARACTER: I think everyone can come to an agreement with this one as we rise up to cheer when this guy got socked in the face!

Nobody makes Anya cry!

SHIPPING: So, is this fake family going to work? Can a spy and an assassin put up an honest front in public without giving an inch? I mean they’re both very good at their work, but even this is a stretch.

It might be too soon to be tossing around love when it comes to Yor and Loid. Respect for each other, yes. But when you get the kiss scene brought on by Yor’s brother Yuri, yeah, these two aren’t ready for real. Yor was going to slap Loid, but thankfully it was Yuri that got the blow. Unfortunately, this does happen again and this time Loid was on the receiving-end of that knock-out slap. But if we’re going to talk about obvious crushes, why don’t we talk about Damien?

Too bad Anya thinks you’re such a shit-head.

We don’t really get much in the shipping category after the first few episodes. I mean, once you propose with a grenade pin in front of an explosion, there’s no way you can outdo that. But things took a wild direction during part two when Fiona Frost came into the picture. Apparently, she was originally going to be Loid’s fake wife for the mission if she wasn’t on a long mission of her own. So, once she returned to town, she wanted to do away with Yor and become Loid’s next wife. And that’s because she LOVES him. Not Loid Forger, but Twilight, the spy. And yes, this is a notice-me-senpai woman. Loid was Fiona’s senpai! It is literally a notice-me-senpai moment!

ENDING TO PART ONE: Loid’s mission has been going along okay. He managed to find a wife and child and have that child get accepted to that prestigious school in order to make nice with the son of the elusive politician. But Loid now has a new thorn in his side that comes in the form of a jealous brother-in-law. It would be enough for Loid to deal with Yuri’s unhealthy jealousy of his sister’s marriage. As it turns out, Yuri is part of the secret police set to detain and force confessions on those considered to be a spy in the country. Worst of all, Yuri knows the existence of a spy named Twilight and has vowed to catch him. But we’ll probably deal with more of this as the series progresses as a whole.

Meanwhile, Anya is having her own problems at school. She knows getting along with Damien will lead to world peace (eventually). Problem is she finds him to be a shit-head and the face she makes around him has launched a bajillion memes. As we all know, the first day of school ended with Anya earning this school’s version of a demerit because she socked Damian in the face. Not just that but Anya’s test scores are really bad. A lot is riding on her succeeding at this school. On the plus side, Anya did gain some attention in her class’s dodgeball game against another class with the world’s biggest 6-year-old.

Seriously, what are they feeding this kid? I’m convinced this isn’t a first grader and that he’s an undercover narc.

But Anya earned notoriety when she saved a kid from drowning. Anya’s psychic ability was able to aid her with that and she was able to help the lad without seeping out the secret about being an Esper. Because of this moment, the school gave Anya a ‘Stella’, the one honor Eden bestows upon the best and brightest. And she will receive a puppy…later! We did catch a glimpse of the future furry friend that’ll become a Forger in part two. For now, it’s time for a trip to the aquarium. Mostly, this trip is just for Loid to keep up appearances in front of the neighbors so they don’t think he’s cheating on his wife or something shady. Loid was also doing spy work during this outing. Okay, that’s it for Spy x Family’s first half.

*three months later*

PART TWO: Anya gets a doggy!

Like I said prior, Anya is getting a dog as a reward for saving another kid from drowning. And just like the rest of the members of the Forger family, this dog has a special quirk as well. He has future sight or something like that. This dog was put through some experiments and this was the end result. Also, he’s a dog that’s being used by bad guys as a ‘bomb dog’. The first couple of episodes were dedicated to Anya and Bond. It was kinda thrilling with Anya escaping danger, Yor unknowingly beats up the bad guys, and Loid just being kick-ass.

After those episodes just comes the usual stuff you would expect these characters to do. Loid is on some mission that turns into something else. Yor can’t cook. Anya gets bad grades. Mr. Scruffy-head can’t get a date. Yuri is an idiot with a sister complex and apparently the hardest working stomach in history. But things do pick up when we meet Fiona Frost (a.k.a. Nightfall). There seems to be a lot of people out here with some major secrets that could contradict and conflict with others. Adding Fiona was just asking for trouble given her feelings towards Twilight.

Oh right, Twilight is Loid. Did you guys forget that?

ENDING: Nearing the end of this season, we’ve witnessed a few moments that could be considered a special moment, but were just bait-and-switches. Adding Fiona as a character brought on a lot of drama as Yor does feel intimidated by her. We even got a scene of Loid and Yor alone together to sort things out. And by sort things out, Yor got shit-faced to a point where you need subtitles for the subtitles, she was that fucking wasted. Oh, and Loid got knocked out by Yor. Not just anyone can knock out the world’s best spy. But the world’s best assassin could.

I often find myself wondering if Loid and Yor could be anything other than a fake couple. Loid is only using Yor (and Anya as well) for the sake of his long-term mission. And Yor is kinda sticking around so that she doesn’t get in trouble with the secret police because they find single women suspicious. Yor has a lot to hide too. But we often get scenes where these two characters get close to each other. Unfortunately, those scenes are followed with Yor giving Loid a big smack down. But then we get this touching scene where Loid remembers his mother due to hearing Yor sing a lullaby. I’m conflicted with these two! Maybe more will progress in the future.

Oh yeah, Loid and Fiona dressed incognito in a tennis tournament the episode prior. There’s such irony with these two posing as a fake couple here. Whatever! I’m still on Team Yor!

The final episode, we finally meet Donovan Desmond. This is the man that Loid has been waiting to get close to and investigate for the mission. The one man that could make or break the peace between Westalis and Ostania.

This guy…he looks like a lobotomy victim. He has a face that a bad guy makes before Bugs Bunny blows them up with dynamite! I stand by what was just said. 

Eden Academy is having a gala that has an attendance of the elite; famous people, successful alumni, politicians, and others. This includes someone like Donovan Desmond. He’s a powerful politician and is Damian’s father. This is Loid’s chance to speak to his target. Loid was able to come close to the Desmonds in the guise of finding a charm that belongs to Anya and formally apologize for Anya’s behavior when she and Damian got accepted to Eden. Their meeting was short, but at least Loid was able to meet the elusive politician. He’s rarely in the public eye and even his own sons barely see him. Well, just meeting him in an informal fashion isn’t going to cut it. Loid and the spies must do what they must to keep the peace. So, there’s going to be more stories from the Forgers. Guarantee it!

One week before the finale, there was a formal announcement that not only Spy x Family was going to return in 2023 with a second season, but they were also getting a movie. Well, I am beyond excited here because I loved this series. Yes, I felt a lull and hit a wall while watching the second part. I’m just going to say the stories between getting Bond and meeting Fiona was that point for me. For others, I honestly thought that people fell out of the Spy x Family anime once Bleach and Chainsaw Man came out during the fall season. Thankfully, these animes didn’t air on the same day. One thing that I would like to see more of that I felt kind of a lack of throughout the series is seeing Yor in action. I mean besides watching her in regular settings where she does something out of the ordinary. I want to see more of Yor in assassination mode in an assassin mission. I feel like I only see Yor in action during the opening and ending themes.

But that’s my small want from the series. I gotta give the kudos to the collaboration between Wit Studio and Cloverworks. The animation was amazing. I was surprised at how much I loved this anime going into it. I fell in love with nearly all of the characters. Yes, even odd-wads like Yuri and Fiona. I’m looking for all the upcoming projects Spy x Family has and will give a full recommendation for just about anybody. I know that sound kinda broad, but this anime has a little bit of everything that could satisfy many folks. It has action, comedy, and schmaltzy drama on occasion.

Hetalia Headcannons: World War 1

(Because I am having finals and I’m gonna make it everyone else’s problem)

- I mean. Is there anything more hillarious than WW1 but Hetalia? Just these idiots shelling each other to oblivion because of what someone’s ally did to someone else’s ally and everyone was too stubborn to make peace. They were going to win this exceedingly stupid conflict, dammnit! Meanwhile, Spain and Portugal were passing each other popcorn in the distance like. There’s this superflu going around, should we be worried? You also get bangers like Italy attacking the same fucking mountain pass ELEVEN TIMES, untill it’s absolutely destroyed by Austria. In the end, the Entente won by being just a little less destroyed than the Alliance, and they were going to make it their problem.

- Russia meanwhile left for the war, but got absolutely destroyed by Germany, who then let his “long lost relative” Soviet Union (now thought to be Russia in a brown wig) live in the abandoned house. People faithful to their old master tried to sack him, but without much success. Meanwhile, Czechia and Slovakia got stuck in Russia, and had to sneak to Paris trough his backyard. Ukraine, Poland etc. of course used the opportunity to run away; some managed to escape, while others were kidnapped back to Russia.

- Poland was resurrected by England’s magic and given Ukraine and Belarus as roommates. Poland proceeded to treat them like shit. In fact, he treated everyone around him like shit, under the impression that it would make him look tougher for some reason. Interwar period was Poland’s bitch era. He also developed a real fetish for men in uniform, for some reason.

- Germany was at the death’s door by the end of the war, but Prussia kept fighting and was severely pissed when the Entente kept insisting “Alliance lost” - like, HE didn’t lose shit, what are they talking about?! Meanwhile, Bavaria, their long-lost brother appeared out of nowhere and was now communist for some reason? He got absorbed back into Germany as soon as Ludwig recovered, and Prussia and Germany don’t talk about this period very much.

- Paris was decidedly NOT the city of love at the end of the war. The Alliance called up this big conference there that was supposed to end all war forever, but they were the same petty assholes as always, so that was a doomed endeavour. Like, the whole “everything is always Germany’s fault” clause was simply unwarranted. But they did settle some disputes, like Austria’s divorce from Hungary (he needed to go away to support his cousin), so that was nice.

- After Italy was severely wounded in a war, Romano took care of him, and took charge of the household. And boy, you could tell. Italy was never as willing to throw hands as it was after one of the most devastating wars in human history (at least for them). He also got radicalized by the far right...

- Soviet Union went around, preaching to everyone who would listen about the need for GLORIOUS COMMUNIST REVOLUTION. In the end, he only convinced Bavaria, who as mentioned got absorbed into Germany, and Hungary, who then tried to convert Slovakia, by violence if necessary (luckily Czechia and Slovakia managed to defend themselves).

Affection: How do they show their love and affection? How intense would it get?

She needs to be by your side all the time. The moment Belarus is away from you she starts to feel empty and hollow. Which leads to her keeping you by her side all of the time. 

For normal work days you'll be allowed to come with her into her office; assuming she isn't working from home. None of her officials or higher ups ask any questions. She seems to get more work done with you by her side and will often just say you're her helper. You are helping in a way, although that way is mostly just you sitting with her and spending the day relaxing in a chair in the corner of the room.

For the world meetings it's a bit more tricky. It's not impossible for someone to be snuck in, honestly it's not even that hard if it's a country doing it. The issue is being caught by someone who might make a big deal out of it. So anyone like Alfred is to be avoided.

Russia and Ukraine help her sneak you into the building and leave you alone in her office. (I imagine the world meeting lasts a few days on average and they have offices there to continue working in private). No one knows you're there, and if they do, no one says anything. 

Blood: How messy are they willing to get when it comes to their darling?

Belarus is more than capable of killing someone for you. It isn't a matter of being able to, it's how you respond to it. If someone touches you or threatens to hair you she will absolutely break bones. If you start screaming and yelling for her to stop she will, until you're no longer around.

If there isn't any major reaction Natalia will finish the job right there. If that isn't an option she will wait, or have someone else do it for her. 

Cruelty: How would they treat their darling once abducted? Would they mock them?

After you're abducted you are treated more like a spouse than before. She expects you to eat dinner with her and to help her cook and clean. The two of you will now sleep in the same bed. Wearing matching pajamas because she thinks it's cute. From the outside the two of you will appear as a happy married couple.

Darling: Aside from abduction, would they do anything against their darling’s will?

Love. She is a needy yandere who feels like she can't exist without you. Even if you don't want it she will hold and love you. If you're too aggressive you will be tied up and bound so that she may hold you.

One of her favorite things to do is leave marks on you. Putting on lipstick and leaving a visible trail of kisses is a more tame way of doing it. Maybe when at a world meeting she'll be easier on you, just in case someone else catches a glance. 

The more extreme version is leaving bloodied marks left on you from her teeth or her fingernails. It takes a few days to heal. In the meantime you have a few days' reminder of how much she loves you.

The middle ground is hickies. Lots and lots of hickies. Both in visible and invisible places.

Exposed: How much of their heart do they bare to their darling? How vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling?

Extremely. You are one of Natalie's weaknesses. She genuinely believes that you care about her. No matter what words leave your mouth, threats and promises of eternal hatred and rage, are dismissed as the temper of an angry lover.

For her love, her life, the second half of her soul, to be lost? Or for the illusion to somehow shatter? She would never make it out in one piece.

Fight: How would they feel if their darling fought back?

She has two reactions and it depends on the mood you catch her in.

The first one is uncaring. If you love her deep down then what does shallow words mean to her? Your rants will fall on deaf ears as she tells you that it must suck to think that, now be quiet and help her finish with the dishes so you two can watch a movie.

The other is what happens when you press one of her buttons. Maybe it was on purpose, or maybe you just stumbled onto one of her other weaknesses. Her reaction will be full of emotions. She will rush over to you, grab you by the shoulders and shake you violently. Demanding that you take those words back. You have no right to speak them.

Game: Is this a game to them? How much would they enjoy watching their darling try to escape?

The only game here is Uno. Belarus does truly love you. Even if her way of showing it is a bit odd, she could never wish any true harm onto you.

She doesn't like seeing you leave either. Wherever you go she will be right by your side.

Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience with them?

Probably one of her violent outbursts. By nature Natalia is very brash and has some anger management issues with other people. It wouldn't be hard for you to make a mistake and touch on the tough subject of her siblings. 

A comment about Ukraine and her body, or calling Ivan creepy and insulting him will result in a subscription to several weeks of isolation and near torture until you apologize and go through 'behavioral classes'. These consist of her sitting you down to teach you the correct way to address both of her siblings. She loves them just as much as you in some ways.

Ideals: What kind of future do they have in mind for/with their darling?

Marriage. A big wedding, a small wedding, or just inviting her two siblings to join. Any of those options are OK with her as long as you're happy and play the role of a perfect spouse on the happiest day of their life. (Natalia will cry at the altar. There is no doubt about this.)

Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope?

Don't look at anyone else. She is extremely jealous and wants you to only think about her. She only thinks about you so why can't you only think about her? You're  not being fair.

If your eyes linger for too long she will pull on your arm. Reminding you with a look exactly what she thinks of your actions. Once you get home she will list off point by point everything you did wrong and how to make up for it.

If this goes too far, more extreme measures will be taken. Like a blindfold for when you go outside. Don't like it? Stop looking at other people then! Simple solution.

Kisses: How do they act around or with their darling?

Like a standoffish sweetheart. Go up and give her a hug! Or a kiss! She rarely says what she wants until it gets to the point she would rather just get up and do it herself.

Her biggest wish is for you to feel the same way about her as she does you.

Love letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling?

When you first meet she will follow you home. It's like a dream come true. Someone who appears to be perfect for her reveals someone who really does seem like the most amazing match. Once Belarus knows where you live she will take something from you. Like a wallet.

She will then approach you with the item and claim that you dropped it. No need to thank her (but please do anyways), just let her treat you to some coffee. If you're so tired you don't notice losing your wallet what else might happen?

She doesn't talk. Instead she just sits there and looks out the window. Any idea she's bored or hates being here is thrown away when she tells you she loved this little coffee date. It wasn't a date as far as you knew, but that's ok. At the end she insists the two of you exchange letters.

Any words asking how you will do that when you don't even know her address aren't answered. She quickly leaves without saying more than twenty words.

The women in the letters are different from the one at the cafè. The matters are sweet and endearing. Showing someone who isn't afraid to talk and be open about how she feels.

Ukraine and Russia are helping her with the letters. Ukraine takes out everything about Kidnapping you if you don't return her feelings and makes it sound… better! Ivan is there as moral support. Happy to see his siblings working together and making sure she doesn't kidnap you too early. Can't have you getting scared too early in the relationship.

Which it is. She considers the two of you dating at this point. Even if you don't know it she will hold you to this idea. So no fooling around with somebody else. The resulting conflict won't be pretty.

Mask: Are their true colors drastically different from the way they act around everyone else?

Yes. She is softer and kinder with you if you act like a good partner. She does love you, and everyone around her can see that. Her siblings were quick to catch onto her acting differently and they for one love the two of you being together. Because it makes her happier and she's softer when she's with you.

Not that the rose doesn't still have thorns.

Naughty: How would they punish their darling?

Isolation is her go to and most common. Locking you in a room alone before she leaves for work and keeping you in there all day. She'll give you a limited amount of food and water. Just enough to keep you alive. You'll be let out when she comes home to shower, use the restroom, and sleep in your shared bed. During the morning you get one more chance to use the restroom and you spend the rest of the day locked away.

This process can last for weeks with only a few breaks on Natalie's days off. She likes to spend her spare time with you, and a darker part of her hopes that being the only good thing in your life will make you warmer towards her.

Oppression: How many rights would they take away from their darling?

Depends on how you act. You can freely leave the house as long as you tell her beforehand, make a plan of where/when, stick to the plan, keep a tracker on you, and regularly call and text.

If you act out there will be less and less chances for you to do anything. Natalia will gladly tie you to a chair and force feed you if she has too.

Patience: How patient are they with their darling?

You get three chances. First chance she warns you, second chance she reprimands you, and the third time she gives a small reminder of what will happen if you do it another time.

There are no more chances. After that you get two chances. One reminder and then punishment.

Quit: If their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?

No.

If you're dead she will never leave the denial stage. Belarus knows a bit of magic and will never stop believing that she can bring you back. Her family will help in whatever ways they can. Meaning Ukraine cooks and keeps everything in order while Russia searches for a proper spell.

If you leave or escape? Oh this time her siblings can do a lot more. Being caught by Ukraine isn't as bad as it could have been. Not that she's likely to find you over Ivan. If Irunya finds you first she'll have a conversation with you.

More so she'll talk at you. You'd be tbound and gagged. Threats are given in the form of reminders. Things can be so much worse for you. Her dear sister is providing you a comfortable life after all! You could be dead. You could have been caught by the likes of Ivan. She'd give so many reminders of how bad this situation could have been for you that you'd feel thankful by the end of it.

After you're thoroughly scared by what could, and still can, happen to you she just let's you go. If you don't return to Belarus she'll hand you over to Ivan.

To keep his own sister happy (and off of his neck) Ivan would gladly mutilate you. Cutting off both legs would mean you can't escape wouldn't it? He'd talk to Belarus before doing anything. He wouldn't mind not checking with her though. Depending on how badly you acted before being caught.

Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?

No and no. To Natalia this is the way it was always meant to be. She doesn't care if you don't like it. You have to. There isn't a choice here.

Stigma: What brought about this side of them (childhood, curiosity, etc)?

I would say it's just her. She can't say why she needs you but she just does. When you're away it feels like her own self is gone. It becomes cold and lonely again and nothing else feels that aching void until you come back.

Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?

She sees it as a temper tantrum. You don't like her? Too bad! Get over yourself and help make dinner. At least set up the table for the both of you.

No matter what it takes she'll do anything to get you to behave again. Screaming and yelling? Gag! Starving yourself? Have fun being force fed! Don't like it change how you act.

Unique: Would they do anything different from the classic yandere?

You'd be able to have a seemingly normal life. Yeah it's a bit toxic and she won't let you leave; but if you don't try to leave and act right you can be happy. She would love to travel with you, and she takes you everywhere with her so you do get out a lot. It's just a matter of if you can out up with her other tendencies.

Vice: What weakness can their darling exploit in order to escape?

Once you play along for long enough she lets her guard down. At a certain point she so genuinely believes that you love her too she doesn't even question if you'll try to leave. You're her weakness after all.

what are your opinions on your own country's hetalia character (if they exist)? if they don't, what's your ideal hetalia character/personality for your country? for me, i used to be a hetalia fan way back in 2012 and my country didn't have a character, so we just made OC interpretations which was pretty fun tbh. there was even a popular unofficial ship between my country's most popular OC version and another for historical ties. now i come back to hetalia and my country has a canon character and it feels surreal. he's nothing like the OC versions but i still like him <3

First of all, congrats on your country becoming a canon character, this is wonderful, especially if you’re enjoying him! It’s probably a bittersweet feeling, considering you had your OC version for so long, it’s probably very dear to you, so I’m glad the canon version still makes you happy <3

We’re from Russia, but I was born in Turkmenistan, so I guess I’ll answer about both.

Sooo Vanya is our boy! And I don’t draw him very often, but it’s just because I get too preoccupied with drawing other characters whom I also adore. But still, we love him very much, both his cute and scary side. That’s probably expected of us, since we love yandere/yangire/sadodere type in general lol

Not to get too deep here, but I think Himaruya did a good job in capturing the contrast between two sides that are usually attributed to Russia: simplicity and scariness. I really don’t like it when Russia and Russians in media (and in general) are defaulted to being an absolute irrational evil, and despite being the scariest (almost satanic lol) character from the main cast, Ivan feels ehh more nuanced than that? At least he is more entertaining because of how weird his schemes are and how simple his actual desires are. It’s like… demonizing, but in a fun over-the-top way, not in a superhero movie villain type of way.

Now, Turkmenistan, who isn’t a character in Hetalia and honestly it’s a shame. If you’ve heard anything about this country, you know what I’m talking about: a rapping president? Horses and dogs everywhere? A rapping president on a horse? A fucking monument for a book that the president has written? Turkmenistan would be so over the top and obnoxious and I personally would love him to death.

I don’t have an OC of Turkmenistan, but I do have Ashgabat (the capital of Turkmenistan). This is a super old drawing though, from 2018, he needs redesigning...

He wears a white coat and has super white teeth, because the city of Ashgabat is like 85% white marble. He has a lot of money (coming from all the natural gas and oil), but wastes it on luxurious clothes, accessories and mobile phones. Without his expensive clothes, he looks kind of plain. He also manages to be very naive and cunning at the same time. He really wants to look cool, modern and tech-forward, but he’s too traditional and conservative to pull it off. The night had not gone quite to plan but it had unfolded pleasantly enough. Ivan hummed quietly to himself as he wiped down the counter with a rag, his habitual smile feeling more pronounced than was usual as he fondly reminisced the events from the night before.

Alfred - his lovely, young, sweet, beautiful Alfred - had surprised him with an unannounced visit and fucked him all night. He did not believe he slept so much as a wink. After the first round on the couch where Alfred rode them both to climax, they bundled themselves into his cot and went at it all night long. Laughter erupted outside as Gilbert crossed the threshold with a lingering grin. It made Ivan a little wistful; he would like to be part of the camaraderie the townsfolk seemed to share.

“Why, I wasn’t expecting you for a couple more days, Mr. Gilbert. What can I get you?”

Gilbert strode up to the counter without meeting Ivan’s gaze as he rummaged through the pockets of his pants. “Yeah, well, I was in the neighborhood,” he said dismissively. He pulled out a crumpled piece of paper and flattened it out. “I’ll, er, just have these. The usual.”

Ivan took the paper and glanced down the list. Beef chuck for stew, briskets (thinly sliced), and a joint of ham. He set it down.

“Sure, I’ll be one moment.”

As he was busy gathering the order, Gilbert leaned against the counter and looked idly through the glass stand containing the day’s special: sausages. He seemed interested.

“They’re freshly made this morning,” Ivan said helpfully. “Would you like some?”

“Ahh, I dunno…”

Gilbert rubbed the palm of his hand across the back of his neck. Ivan found the habit quite arousing, it was something he was often carelessly doing in front of patrons from behind the bar. Ivan gazed longingly at the white skin peeking out from underneath Gilbert’s shirt collar. What wouldn’t he give to be able to kiss it, lick it, suck it, leave tender loving bites in scattered shades of red and purple…

Swallowing his arousal, Ivan plastered on a smile and went over to the stand. “It’s on the house.”

“I’ll take some,” Gilbert muttered grudgingly, smacking a few coins on the counter as payment. “Put the rest on my tab.”

Ivan rang up his order and handed the meats over.

“Please enjoy the sausages,” he said quickly, desperate to salvage the exchange, but the door was already closing behind Gilbert.

“Mrs. Edelstein! To what do I owe the pleasure?”

At around mid-morning, Arthur folded his paper and sat up to gather his things. Alfred watched curiously as Arthur stood with a scrape of his chair, adjusting his holster and looking determinedly away from Alfred.

“Where you goin’?” Alfred asked as Arthur headed towards the door.

“To see Mrs. Denver,” Arthur muttered, putting on his hat.

“Who, the innkeeper?”

“Yes.”

“What for?”

Arthur fixed him with a look of exasperation. Much to his own surprise, Alfred felt relieved to have their eyes finally meet. He wanted to put the fight they had had the day before firmly behind them. As much of a jackass Arthur was, he liked and respected him, and wanted to get along with him.

“She rented a room to Mr. Toris,” Arthur said by way of explanation. “Just before he died,” he added a little redundantly. Clearing his throat, he tilted his hat in parting and stepped out. 

“Wait, I’m coming with you!”

Alfred leaped over his desk to run after Arthur, excited to work the case. Both men burst out of the office into the summer heat. Alfred squinted and Arthur readjusted his hat. Already feeling thirsty, Alfred smacked his dry lips. Arthur looked up and down the street for any oncoming traffic then motioned for Alfred to come along. Alfred spoke up as they crossed the dusty road, “What do you think we’ll find?”

“I don’t know. A lead, hopefully,” Arthur replied.

“Getting this guy in the hoosegow can’t come too soon. Gives me the willies knowing a man like that is living in our town.”

“He might have just been passing through.”

“I don’t know, Arthur. This case gives me a feeling.”

“A feeling.” Arthur deadpanned.

Alfred nodded. “A feeling, yes.”

They arrived at the inn after a few minutes' walk. Mrs. Denver, the innkeeper, was sitting on the porch in a rocking chair with a tabby in her lap. She looked up from her knitting as they approached.

“Howdy, ma’am,” Alfred greeted with a tip of his hat. Arthur repeated the motion.

“Mrs. Denver, you wouldn’t mind letting us into Mr. Toris’ room to look around, would you?”

“Oh sure, officers,” the old woman said, smiling pleasantly. She set her knitting aside and slowly stood up from her chair. The tabby leaped off her lap as she gently shooed her away. “Let me get you the key. It’s room fifteen.”

Alfred and Arthur ascended the small rickety stairs after Mrs. Denver, their eyes slowly adjusting to the gloom of the inn. They came to a stop outside of the room, and Mrs. Denver pushed the key into the door and unlocked it.

“Everything in there is as Mr. Toris left it last, God rest his soul.”

“Much appreciated, ma’am,” Arthur said. “We’ll be sure to lock it back up when we’re done.” 

As Mrs. Denver shuffled off, Arthur pushed the door open and entered with Alfred. It was a small room furnished spartanly with a twin bed, an end table, a dresser, and a wooden chair. Arthur went to dig through the dresser drawers. The top drawer had various papers that he pulled out and set on the end table to read through. The second and third drawers were filled with clothes. He patted them down to check there wasn’t anything else.

Alfred went straight to the bed. It reminded him of Ivan’s cot, a thought he quickly brushed aside. It was still made up. He lifted the mattress to see if there was anything underneath, but found nothing. Dropping to his knees, he peeked under the bed, squinting through the dust and shadows. He noticed a glint coming from the far back and he stretched his arm out to grab it. His fingertips touched it, causing it to roll further back. Flattening himself to the floor, he reached out as far as he could until his fingers found purchase against what felt like cool glass.

Alfred pulled out a small bottle that was no bigger than a flask from under the bed. It was screwed shut with a slosh of clear liquid at the bottom. He turned the bottle to check the label: Polugar vodka. He tossed it onto the bed and turned to Arthur. “Find anything?”

“I found some papers but nothing stands out. It’s mostly bills, letters from family… he’s got brothers in San Miguel.” A beat. “We should probably inform them.”

“Well, guess we’re back to square one,” Alfred sighed, flopping down on his back onto the bed.

Arthur set the papers down and walked over to the small bed. He picked up the bottle and studied it for a moment. “Where did you find this?” he asked.

“Under the bed. Why? Is it a clue?”

Arthur unscrewed the top and sniffed it. His eyes immediately watered.

“What is it?” Alfred asked eagerly, sitting up with a creak of the mattress.

“I don’t know. Maybe it’s nothing.” Arthur pocketed the bottle.

Deflated, Alfred flopped back down onto the bed.

Arthur felt a blush creep up his cheeks at the sight of Alfred laying sprawled before him. Images from his dream the night before flashed across his mind’s eye, and god he wanted nothing more than to lunge straight over and capture those perfect lips in a kiss, thread his fingers into those soft golden locks, straddle him by the waist and grind down hard against the bulge in his pants…

10) KilluGon - Hunter x Hunter

These two have such a cute relationship. They’re honestly so pure, I love their dynamic so much. Killua absolutely adores Gon and would do anything for him. Gon treasures Killua dearly as well. After all they’ve went through, I hope they’re happy and I anticipate the day that they’re able to reunite.

9) SorMik - Tales of Zestiria

It’s been a while since I went through this series, but I really loved their relationship. I love how they’re technically canon since Sorey knowing Mikleo’s true name has romantic connotation. Plus who doesn’t a good Friends to Lovers? These two care deeply for each other and it’s honestly adorable seeing them interact.

8) AshEiji - Banana Fish

I went into Banana Fish completely blind and didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t expect to find a beautiful love story between these two. They genuinely care for each other. Ash is able to be open without fear of being take advantage of or expecting to give or take anything. Eiji is just so patient and gentle with Ash, it’s beautiful yet heartbreaking.

Also, can we pretend that Ash went with Eiji to Japan? Yeah? Yeah.

7) NorEmma - The Promised Neverland

I’ll never get over these two. Norman’s love for Emma is both sweet and heartbreaking. We don’t know if Emma actually returns his feelings, but if she does...Let’s hope Norman will be able to survive Emma smushing his face with kisses.

6) GerIta - Hetalia

I wanted to put HRE/Chibitalia, but this is basically the same thing, right? I firmly believe the HRE = Germany theory, which is really depressing if you think about it. This would make Germany Italy’s first love, but he never remembered him. But it doesn’t matter, because he falls back in love with Italy anyway. Italy definitely never forgot Holy Rome, he definitely still thinks about him from time to time. I can only imagine how Italy would feel if he fell for Germany. He would probably feels like he’s betraying Holy Rome. But can you imagine Italy if he found out if Germany really was Holy Rome? Lots of hugs, crying and kissing, that’s for sure.

5) Usagi/Misaki - Junjou Romantica

I rewatched this series a year ago and I fell back in love with these two very quickly. Usagi treasures and adores Misaki so much and despite Misaki’s insistence, he loves him too. As someone who has a very hard time admitting my feelings, I feel Misaki’s pain in not being able to yell out his love for Usagi. He wants to, but he can’t.

4) NaLu - Fairy Tail

I really loved these two when I first watched Fairy Tail. I loved their dynamic and how fiercely protective Natsu got over Lucy. I truly fell for this ship when Lucy first got kidnapped and the Guild went to save her, but it was Natsu who was the most aggressive when it came to looking for her. I would watch episode 22 over and over again, just watching Lucy putting her absolute trust in Natsu in him catching her. These two share a bond that I love.

3) TodoDeku/BakuDeku - My Hero Academia

Y’all expected me to choose just ONE from MHA? Literally impossible. I remember not knowing who to ship when I first ventured into this series, but when I saw people talking about TodoDeku (I first joined the fandom when the manga was around the....Stain Arc I believe) and I got curious. I looked it up and it was too cute to pass up. I remember feeling apprehensive when wanting to ship BakuDeku, but I fell in love with it. Bakugou is slowly redeeming himself in my eyes and he’s starting to open up to Izuku, which I greatly appreciate.

2) Soul x Maka - Soul Eater

These two....I love them dearly. I treasure their bond. They bicker and fight, but they still care so much for each other. I remember going absolutely nuts when Soul threw himself in front of Maka to protect her from Crona when they first met. He dedicated his life to her, swearing to always protect her and I just....found that so endearing.

1) HanaNene - Toilet Bound Hanako-kun

I don’t care that I recently got into this fandom. These two cause me so many emotions after I read the manga. You can’t tell me that they’re not deeply in love with each other. The Little Mermaid Arc and the Picture Perfect Arc are perfect examples of why these two are meant for each other. Hanako quickly fell for her when he met her at that festival all those years ago and never forgot her, even until his death. Yashiro slowly fell for him over time, seeing Hanako for who he really is and how deeply he cares for her.

Hetalia’s Russia and DID/OSDD 1-b

Hey! So @autistic-hetalia your blog said you accept neurodiverse head canons and I thought maybe I could share this one with your blog!

I believe the Hetalia character of Russia has OSDD 1-b (Otherwise Specified Disociative Disorder or possibly DID, being Dissociative Identity Disorder) and this is why.

Just a note,

There is no such thing as an evil alter. Do not demonize people with DID or Other Dissociative Disorders! Those with this disorder are victims of Trauma and are likely to continue being victims of abusers, rarely do they become abusers!

Anyways, -cough cough- I’d love if anyone wants to add to this with more evidence!

1. Russia had a traumatic childhood

He is shown to have had abusive bosses who would punish him. He is threatened by one to invent steam power by the end of the week or be punished. Tartar Yoke mentioned by Lithuania as one of his bosses was also known for his cruelty. So the Authority figured in his youth were often cruel and held power over him.

His environment is cold and unforgiving much like an abusive home. Russia often describes his home as cold, quiet and lonely. He rarely found support from his land and often struggled to get by. The environment and home were harsh with little support. It is also implied he froze to death each Winter, and celebrated the year he didn’t.

This is on top of having to deal with other nations attacking him, making him feel helpless. Many nations “bullied” him in attempts to conquer him. He was mobed and pursed every day by Mongolia. That is exhausting to have everyone around you be a threat. (Lithuania and his sisters were the only nations kind to him in his youth) Early on, he learns that force and strength are what matters.

Next point tw sexual abuse and assault

He also felt a great deal of responsibility to care for his sisters. He was close to them, as they were experiencing similar issues and not violent to him. He had to be the strong one. Belarus and her unhealthy attachment to Russia depending on the age she started her behaviors may have also contributed to his trauma. All of the siblings have unhealthy attitudes towards boundaries with their bodies and the bodies of others, implying another type of abuse. Ukraine and Belarus took victim roles. Russia took on an abusers. Ukraine only ever suggests using her body to get what she wants as if never taught anything else, even as a child that’s what she knows. Belarus I don’t know where to begin, but her staring off is certainly dissociative like, paired with other trust issues. In a diary entry she is stated to have possibly messaged Ukraine’s breasts, once again showing more unhealthy boundaries with attachments to loved ones. Someone taught her that. And Russia, who internalized his abusers, acted out his abuse on others as implied with Lithuania looking distressed dressed as a maid and Russia holding a whip. In another non canon game Himaura worked on, Bulgaria in the bad ending is shown tied up and naked implied to be whipped by Russia as Russia says this is “tradition” or possibly more routine implying this is something he does often.

The idea with dissociative disorders is that the repetitive trauma that happens has to be too much for the mind of that individual child in comparison to the culture they’re raised in, and it conflicts with getting their needs met. And to the countries, all of them know Russia has had a life with far more conflicts in his youth than most, and a great deal of pain.

2. Russia has General Winter (GW for short)

General Winter manifests when Russia is being attacked by other nations in order to defend him, or to be a tormentor to Russia himself (such as freezing him to death each Winter).

This is oddly similar to what is known as a persecutor alter. These alters have the goal in mind to protect the host or body, but they’re a bit misguided in how to do that. They might take on the form of an abuser, or something outside the body, this turns into being an Introject. I’ll post a link to more info on DID/OSDD at the end of the post. The educational videos playlist will have a video on alter roles.

Russia’s bosses often abused him, and if he had an alter like this it would make sense that it would take the form of a general, someone in power who feels so much bigger and stronger than him. A boss who can push him around and make him behave in a way that will avoid further trauma from the real abusers. Winter the season, being another tormenting force of the environment, is another abuser, and it makes sense GW would take that into his identity. Russia feels helpless to it. It is also worth noting that other nations who also had to deal with Harsh winters do not have General Winter as an ally. He only protects Russia.

It would also explain why General Winter protects Russia from others attacking him. He took the ideologies of his abusers to heart, so GW pushes people away and treats them like threats. He feels strong by holding power and fear over others and force. If I can be stronger, no one can hurt me or would dare try, this is the mentality.

I believe GW can manifest as he does because Russia has magic. It’s canon that Russia can do magic or has a strange magic of his own, so whose to say GW can’t utilize it too. Perhaps even to let himself manifest sometimes in his spirit like form. This is more a headcanon or idea though.

Russia himself however is shown to be very passive with his bosses. These are people who hold power over him that he can’t really run away from or fight. So his response is to faun or freeze. This is basically stated in the comics (picture below.) and it’s often that alters have a specific role. Russia’s would be to people please those who he can’t fight. Making General Winter’s job to defend from attack.

3. Russia is shown to dissociate

When he is told to do an impossible amount of work, he just straight up loses himself in a fantasy immediately to escape the reality of the situation. There are other instances too, some in his childhood directly, but this was the most overt. This is from To your Hearts content, Russia!

4. Russia Is Inconsistent

There are times when Russia feels very different from moment to moment.

He goes from open about himself to swiftly sadistic and cold. He has moments of childish behavior to moments of maturity. These, when combined with the rest of my points, are worth noting. He both wants to hurt (possibly destroy) the others, but also be liked by them?

You can’t destroy people and have them like you.

The baltic Trio who lived a substantial amount of time with him still are confused by his unpredictable behavior. Each encounter The Baltic’s have with Russia is marked by a fear of what he might do. And not having certainty, thus they say things without knowing if it’s safe or not.

Even to Lithuania, (Whom Russia often shows Vulnerability to, in moments like bloody Sunday and Sharing his dreams in Outsourcing Sequel)living with Russia feels a strange theme park where he never knew what to expect. Lithuania has been shown to be great in strategy and games of wit, and a commendable leader with great people skills, yet he only has a general idea of Russia’s behavior? He is seen advising Prussia and Moldova that Russia likes it when people laugh or cry easily (This being predictable to Russia and thus easier to navigate social situations with) so it’s not like Lithuania isn’t paying attention. Russia shows moments of vulnerability and his thought process in panels like Bloody Sunday, which is quite telling as to what he believes are his responsibilities, and how the world works.

Now the real question is “why is he like this?”

He only understands the world from the point of view of someone who still lives in the abuse and knows no other options. He never had anyone teach or show him different. His world is ruled by who is the strongest, and if you can obey the strong you won’t get hurt or discarded. “We don’t want children who can’t play nice,” sounds like something an abuser told him frequently in his youth.

Russia just doesn’t have a support system due to his strained relationships with everyone. So he keeps relying on old defense mechanisms, hence letting General Winter step in when something threatens his sense of safety.

Nearly Every time (at least that’s what I noticed) Russia is emotionally vulnerable to someone, he suddenly changes to be sadistic or scary. It successfully pushes the person away and Reestablishes the fear of Russia in the individual, returning him to a state of being feared and alone where none of the other countries can hurt him. Examples below.

France talking to Russia after meetings and asking him personal questions would result in Russia ending the conversation by scaring him with a scsry remark and aura suddenly.

Russia Comforting China after Japan turns on him, he is kind and compassionate at first, but suddenly changes at the end.

The Baltic Trio never knows what to expect. He frequently uses fear and force to keep them.

This behavior seems directly contradictory to wanting friends and having a warm and lively home. So GW still reacts with a trauma response, and Russia reacts in line with his wishes of making friends and having others around him. The Use of force and intimidation is naturally the middle ground between their wishes. Russia believes everyone is his friends, and doesn’t see how his behavior is pushing people away. Other times he seems to want friends to like him back, like when he sent France an anonymously written letter to his radio show. However he has wishes that contradict.

Now, I think he sees friends as people he can keep near him that he enjoys the company of. (This doesn’t need to be mutual or involve trust, just force) but those wants directly contradict.

I think GW is passively influencing him with some of the behavior rather than switching out right, but either option still would have the same effects. Passive influence is when an alter is close to the front, or feels/thinks something strong enough that it affects the person at the front. Making them behave in a way that is ooc for them, but not the other who intentionally or unintentionally influenced them.

This would explain sudden shifts to a cruel threatening position with other nations, something that will most likely always be a threat GW needs to defend against. He is particularly cold and defensive with anyone that has a chance to hurt him, (or tries to look into his psyche) regardless of if they made a move to do so.

5. Misc. Points of knowledge

Russia’s character originally was meant to be a cry baby, and only when he drinks, has a complete switch in personality. Frankly I’m glad he was changed to the complex guy we have now. However I think this concept wasn’t fully lost.

His character song, Winter, seems to talk of him experiencing freezing to death each Winter. Further adding to his repetitive trauma.

It is not unheard of for nations to have disorders and conditions. Australia has ADHD, Prussia is Albino, Lithuania has severe anxiety (and possibly PTSD), so who is to say a nation like Russia can’t have a dissociative disorder?

It is stated in one of Russia’s character bios that “General Winter is always with him”, however where? I don’t physically see him, but perhaps we can’t because he’s sharing a body with Russia.

In summary

Russia has inconsistent behavior and attachments

General Winter could certainly be a separate personality and functions exactly like an introject/persecutor alter would to their host.

Russia acts out and damages relationships, acting in inconsistent ways that might play out his own abuse, and/or reflect his desires to keep others near him.

As a note, I actually have DID, so this could be my projecting, but please don’t yell at me about how I made a “villain” have DID and feed into evil alters and split Stareotypes. I would only like to raise interest and provide an example of what a misrepresented disorder can look like. And the links below are there if you want to make your mind up for yourself and educate yourself if this inspires your portrayal of him! This isn’t meant to be insensitive, I’ve been working on this post for months to word it as sensitive as I could while also acknowledging Russia is still responsible for his and GW’s actions. Saying he has DID isn’t to excuse it, just explain it.

Don’t erase his victims, but don’t erase that he also is one.

Okay, since I can't focus on school today despite the cramming I have to do, ig I'll work on that Hetalia Philippines headcanons list so here's some for now:

He actually thrives under a lot of things that are considered cringe. He doesn't care what people say, and his confidence shuts them up before they could say anything.

You bet that he was once a Jejemon and he wasn't ashamed at all!

He would take photos with you every time you meet even if you see each other often and regardless if he knows you well.

He expects you to post said photos almost immediately, tagged and captioned.

He plays a lot of basketball, mostly in Liga with some of the local guys around his current residence but he has been invited for a match at least once for the PBA.

He has also guested as a trainer in at least one Milo basketball training camp.

He would definitely wear a maid outfit without question. He thinks he looks cute and to hell with toxic masculinity.

He crushes on a lot of people and it does change quite frequently. He would often write songs about these people and eventually wrote a song about his many fleeting crushes. (This would be considered an OPM classic.)

He also plays a lot of instruments since he absolutely loves music. He thinks he also has a good voice regardless of training.

He likes learning different instruments no matter how strange they could be but in the absence of anything, he just makes do with any object around him to make sounds.

Aside from Pien, his tarsier, he has at least one dog that he takes care of that may or may not be his. Some of the dogs and cats he takes care of are just strays he likes feeding. They like following him around when he goes out his house.

About Historical Events and People

He only came around the start of the colonial period since there would be different kingdoms and countries before him to represent the ancient Philippine civilizations. Because of this, he's a bit insecure about himself as a country, but he's been successfully getting past that more recently.

He also looks up to a lot of the older or the OG Filipino countries and wants to learn more about the past, but they also have very conflicting memories or opinions about it much to his confusion.

He wasn't all too used to the different writing systems of the pre-colonial Philippines since he didn't really see it for too long or grew up with the writing systems, but he wanted to learn. This resulted in him ending up mixing different writing systems and letters since he tried studying them all at once.

When people ask him to write in Baybayin (the ancient Tagalog script) he has to constantly explain that he'd love to do it without reference, but he honestly can't bc of his mixed-up writing systems issue.

He genuinely thinks people overhyped Jose Rizal too much esp since he actually knew him (even if not too well, lives around the same time as him so). He respects him, of course, but he finds a little bit of irony knowing that Rizal wanted to have a pretty simple memorial after death yet a whole park is now dedicated to him in his grave (not to mention renaming a province after him too).

He also finds it funny how Rizal had such an influence even when he was still alive that people were claiming he did miracles.

He's kinda confused about the Rizalista cult though.

He has mixed feelings about historical films since he knows how inaccurate they are but it's been so long that his memory gets sorta mixed up. He doesn't rant and rave about it compared to the other nations, but some of the depictions either amuse him or upset him.

He doesn't like how divided some of his people are and how some of them fight over menial things. He also hates it when people would say uncalled for statements against people from different regions of the country.

Related to this, the regionalism reminds him of how fractured the rebellion was since there was a lot of regionalism in the Katipunan that he got annoyed of.

My Review of Romeo No Aoi Sora

(a.k.a. Romeo’s Blue Skies)

Okay, time for another round of Japan’s World Masterpiece Theater. Unlike Les Miserables and Trapp Ikka Monogatari, I’m jumping into this story blind-folded. I have never heard of the original story in any way and haven’t read the original novel “The Black Brothers”. Okay, let’s see what I can do.

Romeo is an 11 year old boy living with his family in a small town in Switzerland. Times were rough for the family and a lot of the town. Due to a drought, Romeo’s father (Roberto) has had a rough time keeping his crops alive. As a result, it was hard for him to keep food on the table for his family. One day, a man rolls into town. His name is Luini, but everyone refers to him as “The God of Death”. He offers struggling families a chance to earn money by selling their child to Luini. As a result, that child works for that man until they die (or so the rumor goes). While in town, Luini sets his sights on Roberto’s son Romeo and even inquires. Roberto literally told him off and went on about his business. End of story, right? No.

Luini commits arson and burns down Roberto’s crops. And because of the drought, that crop field is a tinderbox waiting to burn. After all the damage, Roberto ends up with a head injury and needs a doctor pretty badly. But with no crops and no animals, he has no income to feed his family. Luini offers a pretty penny for Romeo and Roberto still told him to fuck off. Roberto cares for Romeo so much despite them not being blood related. Yeah, Romeo’s an orphan originally and that was explained in detail in episode 2. Still no matter what, Romeo’s parents love him and will not give him up. But the family is completely destitute at this point and not much can be done. That’s why Romeo made the crucial decision by himself to sell himself to Luini and become a chimney sweep for one year.

On his way to the town, Romeo meets a young boy named Alfredo. The two ended up connecting and swore to look after each other. Once the two became chimney sweeps, they were able to meet up with each other as well as other young boys who became chimney cleaners under the same circumstances. They all decided to become brothers of the black soot (or The Black Brothers). They promised to stick up for one another and stand by one another.

BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: As this was part of the World Masterpiece Theater collection, this was never dubbed, nor was it ever picked up out here in the west. However, it was picked up by many other countries years after its debut. Because we Americans are uncultured swines! Now I would like to talk about Toshiko Fujita. Up until recently, I wasn’t aware of her (and no, I have never watched Digimon). It wasn’t until I picked up Trapp Family Story and Cat’s Eye that I really noticed how talented she was and how much of a range she had. I like to give props for those who have a range where it shocks me every time I hear her voice. Makes me want to check out other older animes she was in! Here’s what you might recognize these folks from.

*Romeo is played by Ai Orikasa (known for Ryoko on Tenchi Muyo, Tohma on Gravitation, Shizuru on Yu Yu Hakusho, Sealand on Hetalia, Shizuka on Working!!, and Ren from Fruits Basket)

*Alfredo is played by Toshiko Fujita (known for Tai on Digimon, Big Mom on One Piece, Rui on Cat’s Eye, and Matilda on Trapp Ikka Monogatari) [R.I.P.]

*Bianca is played by Akemi Okamura (known for Saturn on Pokemon DP, Koizumi on Lovely Complex, Hinoe on Natsume Yuujinchou, Paninya on FMA: Brotherhood, Mayaya on Princess Jellyfish, and Nami on One Piece)

DISLIKED CHARACTER: It goes without saying that Luini is the one to hate from the get-go! Granted, nearly every adult in this story is just flat-out deplorable (with one exception). Dr. Casella is the best adult in this series. Everyone else is puke! I really want to add Rossi’s old lady to this category as well. That couple reminded me so much of the Thenadiers from Les Miserables. But Rossi changed over time and actually stands up to his barrel-chested wife when she puts Romeo down. She sucks, not him. It’s just I can’t get over those first several episodes with Luini.

I’ve got to wonder if Romeo still would have saved him from drowning in the sea if he knew that Luini was the one that intentionally started the fire that caused the turmoil for Romeo’s father. I’m sure Alfredo would have let him drown to the bottom of the sea if that were the case. Thankfully after the first few episodes, we never see him again.

And then we meet Mauricio and Grazela…

Oh hell no, I’m not using their names! From here on out they are known as the greedy-fuck-ass uncle and aunt. Greedy-fuck-ass uncle was not too happy that his elder brother was head of the Martini family. So him and his greedy fuck-ass wife committed arson. And unlike Luini’s arson attempt, this one had a headcount by taking Alfredo’s parents. But the relentless greedy-fuck-asses try hunting down the children to kill them. But because they could only get their hands on the baby sister Bianca, they use her to try and lure him out.

And did I mention they tried to kill these kids several times, including Romeo as well? These people are scum.

SHIPPING: Hmm…I’m wondering if Romeo and Angeletta will get together in the end or if we get a bros before hoes kinda thing!

Angeletta said she loves Romeo and he said it back. Honestly, I thought she was gonna die in the middle of the series. Instead, she left Italy to go to France for heart surgery. I’m sure Romeo will love her always or fall for Alfredo’s sister. I don’t know, I call it like I see it. And what do we get in the final minute of the finale?

Sonuvabitch, I must be psychic!

Moving away from Romeo...

Alfredo did have someone who had a crush on him. Nikita was the tomboyish girl who was in the Wolf Gang that would always give a hard time to Romeo and the black brothers. She gave off such tsundere vibes whenever she was around Alfredo. They would have gotten together, but you know…things happened.

ACCURATE OR NOT: This portion might be shorter than normal as this is my first experience dealing with this particular tale. I never read The Black Brothers nor viewed any of the adaptations to the story.

*It’s Giorgio, not Romeo. That’s the original name of the main character. Though there is a bit of an Easter egg with this name. In the final episode, we see Romeo all grown up teaching children how to write and one of those children’s names was Giorgio. So at least that wasn’t lost!

*In the book, it was Giorgio’s (Romeo) mother who ends up ill (or breaks a leg) instead of his father. I guess that means the anime over-vilified Luini in the anime as he was behind the fire that caused Roberto’s injury.

*Unless someone can tell me otherwise, I don’t think Piccolo existed in the original story. And Piccolo was this…um…pet that Romeo had throughout the series. Cute little fella, not sure he existed in the original material.

*Angeletta’s name was also different from the book. It was originally Nicolette.

*A lot of Romeo’s stories were kinda told out of order. One in particular was Rossi’s son Anselmo accusing Romeo of stealing from the family and police go on a manhunt for Romeo. In the series, it happened quite early, but it seems like in the book it happened much later towards the end.

*As much as I loved Romeo x Angeletta, even in the book that wasn’t going to happen. The anime was very much accurate at the end where he hooks up with Bianca and they have a son. And yes, they indeed named their son after Alfredo.

*Luini was seen in the series finale with more smuggled children to become chimney sweeps. In the novel, he was put behind bars for his crimes. Now the anime didn’t say if this slimebag got thrown in prison, but the narrator said things were better for the generation of kids after Romeo. So maybe he got thrown in the clink off screen!

ENDING: The final arc of this story revolves around Alfredo. Most of the story up until now had a lot to do with Romeo. Most of it had to do with his friendships with his black brothers, helping Angeletta, or just trying to stay out of trouble with the Rossis. And we do get plenty of content in Alfredo’s story. I knew going into this that Alfredo and his sister have been wanted for some time. I also knew that Alfredo was going to die eventually. Yeah, internet spoilers! I know I’m spoiling it now, but I don’t care. I’m continuing the cycle of spoiling and being an asshole. I just didn’t know how he was going to die and there was just so much against him. Was it his negligent boss Citron, the Wolf Gang beating him up, his greedy-fuck-ass uncle and aunt who want to kill him, or a random disease?

We’ll get to that in a moment! The entire town is in a frenzy due to a royal wedding and banquet. This occasion has brought out royals from all over and unfortunately that’s where Alfredo’s evil aunt and uncle come into play. These two killed Alfredo’s parents by setting them on fire and used Bianca to lure Alfredo out of hiding. It turns out Alfredo is next in line in his own royal family and has an honorary medal the king himself bestowed upon Alfredo’s father. It’s just that Alfredo’s greedy-fuck-ass aunt and uncle want the kids out of the picture so they get the fortune and status. And they do try to off these kids at every opportunity.

During the night of the ceremony, Alfredo got the good with the bad. His sickness is rapidly hitting fever pitch and Romeo had to learn that he might die from Nikita of all people. But there was a temporary truce between the Black Brothers and their long-time rivals the Wolf Gang in order to get Alfredo to the palace. And while greedy-fuck-ass uncle almost killed some of the children, Romeo and Alfredo were able to survive a several story fall and make it to see the king. And thankfully, Alfredo was able to see the king, take down his greedy fuck-ass uncle and aunt, and just all around save the day for him and his sister.

…And then he dies in Romeo’s arms…

Okay, so we now know. Alfredo dies from his long-standing lung disease. But his neglect from the boss didn’t help that cause.

In the aftermath of Alfredo’s death, everyone took the news differently. Romeo was in a deep haze and in a deep depression after Alfredo literally died in his arms. Nikita was at a loss as she had a crush on Alfredo. Bianca was of course sad, but was willing to accept this as a sign that Romeo will live through her brother. The rest of the black brothers were lost now that their leader has passed away. They put Romeo in that awkward position of either becoming the leader of the black brothers or getting the fuck out. Geez guys, dude saw his bro die in his arms. Chill! Romeo took the stand and became the new leader and gathered money for Alfredo to have a burial. At the funeral, almost everyone was there. I say ‘almost’ because I didn’t see Alfredo’s former drunkard of a boss. Minor details!

A few months roll by and it’s getting closer for Romeo, Dante, and some of the other boys to go back to their respective homes as their times as chimney sweeps was up. But around that time, Romeo got an epiphany of what he wants to be when he grows up. He thought about what it would have been like if he had never met Alfredo or the nicest grownup he’s met in Milan, Dr. Casella. And Bianca, now without a brother, decides to live with the kind doctor and wants to grow up to be a nurse. Bianca had an opportunity to go live with other family members but chose to forego her royal family and stay with the kind doctor.

On the day of Romeo’s departure, we get a tearful goodbye from the Rossi’s. Even though that brute-sow wife doesn’t show it, she’s going to miss the boy. Anselmo is still a brat and we’ll leave him there. Romeo makes a deal with Giovanni and the Wolf Gang. The two rival groups make a peace treaty and promise to help each other out in Romeo’s (and Alfredo’s) absence. Dr. Casella took the boys to their hometowns and everyone says their goodbyes. May they live long, happy lives, for no one knows if they’ll ever meet up again. Romeo finally makes it home to his parents, grandmother, and little brothers.

We even get a glimpse of Romeo in the future. He stuck to his promise of becoming a teacher. Romeo even ends up marrying Bianca and they have a son they named Alfredo. The world is a little better now so children don’t have to be taken away to become chimney sweeps in order to help their families. Romeo will see to it with the new generation he’s teaching.

This was a cute story. Romeo grows so much in just a few short months. He was a silly, illiterate boy. Now, he’s able to read, he’s dealt with so much in his young life that groomed him into a pretty stable person. And since this was a story I was unaware of what was going to happen next, it was nice to go through it all without too many spoilers ruining it for me or a massive fanbase ruining it. Despite the heavy moments, this was a cute story with Romeo the spunky chimney-sweep.

I was a little confused at the end seeing Romeo and Dante being able to leave Milan after one year as chimney sweeps. Because I distinctly remember the beginning of the series where the grown-ups were scared when Luini rolled into town! Didn’t they say that children taken by Luini never come back? Okay, I guess it is kinda true in some cases once I thought about it. A lot of the boys Luini took at the beginning drowned a horrible death. And as we all know, Alfredo never made it out. I guess Romeo and Dante or some of the lucky ones to return home.

Anyways, if you’re a fan of these animes where Japan takes old literary classics and animates them, give this one a try.

Time to randomize and watch another unlicensed gem…Nope, I’m not doing it.

Okay, I’m going to do something a little different. I’m turning off the randomizer today and picking my own choice. I’m kind of going against my own protocol as I’m choosing an anime that was made prior Fall 1986. I have a different list for anything made before that particular time. It’s still unlicenced, it’s just that I’m not going to wait until after I finish Cat’s Eye. With that said, my next anime to watch that’s an unlicenced gem will be…
