One thing the second half of Vikings ruined was the side characters.

In the first half, you had like two established groups; the vikings and the saxons.

The vikings were obviously Ragnar, Lagertha, the main characters you know, but they also build affection and relationships to side characters like Torstein or Arne, and I've seen really good fanfictions and ships also including these characters, because it felt so much more real.

On the other hand the second half was very focused on the main group, and it was really mainly the family. Only Lagertha, Ivar and Bjorn even really interacted with many of the side characters and to be honest, for many of the side characters I wasn't really sad or anything when they died; I barely remembered their names. Sure, part of it was the story, different than in the first half they didn't have one crew they all stayed with, but really?? Ivar's right hand men could've had character, more saxons could've had character. But the only characters who were allowed to have any character were either of the family or they fucked with the family (Björn/Halfdan truther tbr).

Especially when writing fanfictions I feel like this becomes obvious; if you write about Ragnar, he hangs out with Torstein or Floki and Lagertha has her own friends. You write about the sons? Well, there's a lot of interesting things to explore, but if I have to see one more OC insert version of Oleg, I will shoot myself

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

in general i dont think fandom tattoos are a bad idea but i think u need to at least give yourself like a two year buffer from the end of that piece of media before you commit. like if someone told me "yeah im obsessed with hazbin hotel rn so im gonna get a hazbin hotel tattoo" id be like woah okay maybe put a pin in that idea for later. but if someone told me "yeah i read homestuck in its prime and i still love it so im gonna get a homestuck tattoo" id be like well fair enough its been like eight years. if you still like it now you'll probably still have fond memories of it in 20 years. you do you.

no offence but the reason tumblr is “dying” is, well, yes, of course the cursed like/reblog ratio and the change in user behaviour (because of people being used to how instagram and tiktok work) BUT also the lack of weekly shows. i say it with my whole chest, they don't produce captivating and engaging stupid weekly tv shows anymore because streaming killed that so you have spikes of activity here when Something happens in general fandom or up to three days after a new season of whatever drops and then it's a wasteland. this is obviously an old woman yelling at a cloud missing supernatural and the vampire diaries and pretty little liars and all these other shows type of post but honestly give me back weekly tv shows where i have something to watch for 40 minutes almost every day of the week after work so then i can read and reblog it on tumblr give it back for the sake of my sanity

Shipping is fun and all but I swear every single time someone makes a comment, whether as a joke or in a legitimate analysis, about there being "no other explanation" for a pair's interactions, I lose just a bit more of my sanity

Like, no, you guys don't get it. Romance is not about the Amount of devotion, it's about the COLOR. the FLAVOR of it all. a character can be just as devoted to their platonic friend as they are to their romantic partner, and they don't love either of them more, just differently.

But because the majority of people still have it stuck in their minds that romance exists on the highest tier of love, I'm stuck seeing endless takes that boil down to "these two care about each other too much for it to NOT be romantic" as if that's the core determining factor to how literally any of this works

In conclusion: stop telling me that I don't understand the story if I don't interpret the leads as romantic, I am TIRED
