I absolutely HAD to draw something for @phoebepheebsphibs's DTIYS (based on this pose)! I decided to mix things up a bit by experimenting with a more limited color palette, which was a pretty fun challenge.

The King in Yellow. shown by both times each has found themselves in human form do not just crave power and influence!!!#THEY CRAVE COMMUNITY!!! an endrich being not born or raised with nothing but power and ego #CRAVES COMMUNITY.#His goal of “humanity” is not a selfless goal like John projects - it is ultimately somewhat selfish as he does not want to be alone!!#which makes this desire so much more human #i don't know maybe this is just me spelling out whats already there but the way john and the witch argued about humanity frustrated me #it felt like they were missing the point or that perhaps the “good/evil” “black/white” retoric was already realised by me and john needed #realise it himself . which is fair !!!#i dont know!!!!#the witch was talking about how bad everyone was and how humanity is cruel and john was talking about Lily (#who also frustrates me how shes used in the plot somewhat she was literally just a nurse doing her job bro #) but to John - yes internally he is struggling with his moral greyness and im so proud of him for growing being himself SO PROUD #JUST.!!! he wants community. he needs community. he loves his friend. #not art (yet!!!!)#preddy good kristen I got goin on in this piece #for some reason my brain isnt letting me do this one. been stalling on it for a good few days. but I intend to break thru it #I need to put this on paper at least once #(its space sweepers. I think it would be funny if the kids are in that universe too but theyre just like off to the side doing their own #thing pretty much unrelated to the main plot. theyre delivery people. theyre all still teens. they get up to shenanigans and then #one day they look up like huh the guy who founded eden fucking died?? when #kristen specifically I got a decent amount hashed out in my brain somehow. she's like an engineered messiah with a grafted engine #along her upper body skeleton that'd let her spontaneously rearrange objects on a molecular level #so she can theoretically knit wounds or cure diseases by thinking abt it very hard #sadly the engine of course takes enormous amount of energy to power. so most of the time in practice she just #has a half-metal skeleton that doesn't do anything. so she's buff as shit on the upper side and one of her punches can break your neck #but her mobility is limited and she sprains her ankles like every other week. her shins have broken like a few times #I genuinely love the way her shoes n braces look in this one its very fun #there are a lot of choices I made in this one that are so fun and also just like. a result of putting them in space sweepers #and thinking to myself here and there hey this would be cool if it harkens back to their canon designs #not riz tho other than being human he is fully exactly like how he looks in canon. hes just like that #hes the navigator and he charts their courses by hand with a school calculator #(also technically their legal counselor since he's sorta responsible for not putting them in traffic control's hands)#drawing this does make me realise a lot of these dynamics are really fun lol. idk if Im gonna ever do anything like proper for this but #at the very least if I draw this the idea will be out there)

dating an art student was so crazy I'm just thinking abt that one birthday I had where my ex got me stickers from the etsy of the person they were cheating on me with....

and btw im in my hater arc rn. as time goes on the more i find a lot of 'fandom' stuff insufferable (i like art n stuff. just the way that fandom refits every media to fit a single mold and set of boring archetypes is exhausting.)

Kingfisher's What Moves the Dead #a short and entertaining enough read — though I struggled a bit to suspend my disbelief regarding the supposedly historical setting #it wanted to do some interesting things with gender but I'm not sure it pulled it off or what to make of it #I want it to be good but upon further reflection it really isn't. sigh #kitchat #also as with so much art that involves like. personhood and body horror and fundamentally alien ways of perceiving the world—#— I found myself wishing it would have just gone harder somehow #I can't put my finger on How but I'll know it when I see it #honestly the answer might just be Put More Transgender In It #okay edit i think i wanted the characters to suck more. they all felt too wholesome especially in a story based on gothic horror
