dick and cassandra duo but it's just them being absolute machines and people are absolutely SHOOK.

dick and cassandra as calisthenics buddies and they show off new stuff they learn to eachother every week and help monitor eachother process.

dick is at olympian levels in gymnastics and cassandra is one of thr best ballerinas in the country. both of them know the basics of each, so cass teaches him ballet, and he teaches her gymnastics. she finds cool tricks she wants to learn on the bar and dick finds her pieces of music he'd like to work on.

at some point cass's coaching has gotten him so good he's landed a role in a ballet performance with her , and cass has entered a regional gymnastics competition with dick as her coach. bruce is SO proud he has these two absolute units on his side cause he sees how dedicated they are to the things they love doing outside of of vigilante work, and that these two are one of the many that will carry on the wayne legacy.

It is icky and it should be. Izzy for me is the wedge everywhere to everybody. Sometimes he wedges out the thing we perceive as bad (not letting loose is worse) sometimes it's cringe. When in Jane Austen's books, she would be the aunt, who'd spill all beans, sometimes helping the lovestruck pair, sometimes causing an avalanche. What's worse, they aren't aware of it.

the world is a rich tapestry and so is the ofmd fandom so there are always going to be people who see certain scenes in a way that's polar opposite to the way i see them

but the bit in s2e7 where izzy interrupts ed and stede genuinely makes me feel unwell. it is such a fucking uncomfortable scene for me. we have ed and stede, in bed in varying states of undress, obviously post-coital (from the night before but same difference), trying to enjoy breakfast behind a closed curtain in a private cabin.

and they get interrupted by the guy who tried to get them both killed because he didn't like ed's affection for stede, who threatened to kill ed when ed was upset that stede had left, who was perfectly happy to kill stede in the duel, who participated in what he thought was the killing of ed during the kraken mutiny. a guy who walks in fully clothed and armed, plants himself right between them and the door, gives ed this shitty leering up and down look, and makes a joke about them fucking that doesn't feel fun or jokey in context - it feels derogatory, like he's in on the joke and ed and stede aren't, like it's at their expense. and even if you don't read it as that, even if you view it as completely harmelss and an attempt at friendliness, how the fuck. has he earned the right to make dumb little jokes about gay sex with them as if he's their friend and not the person who nearly caused both of their deaths?

it's just so fucking icky on multiple levels and i do not understand why it couldn't have been literally any fucker else who got to have that scene. lucius would've been perfect. anyone who was originally going to participate in the cut makeover plot from s2e6 would've been perfect as their motivation behind the makeover idea was that they wanted ed and stede to fuck to resolve the belligerent sexual tension they had going on. literally anybody or nobody at all. just not izzy and not like that

so anyway seeing people say that it's an underrated scene or that it's wholesome bc it shows izzy has changed or that it feels like the prelude to a steddyhands sex scene makes me squint at my screen like a confused little mole
