Goodbyes Aren't Always For Long

So I finished my first playthrough of the game yesterday, and I sobbed. Can you guess what I was the most upset about?

I have been wanting to include some of the other companions as background characters, but I'm not sure who to include. Who would you guys like to see in the future?

"This is selfish, Halsin! And that's coming from me!" Astarion hissed, pacing back and forth through the rented room, seeming to be the only one no frozen in place. There was quiet in response to his statement, as the taller elf stood in front of the door, his eyes downcast.

"It isn't though, Astarion." You popped up from your place at the end of the bed, your body too heavy from the news you were processing through.

"It is!" The pale elf yells in your direction, though you can recognize the pain heavier in his voice than the anger. "You wormed your way into our hearts, into our minds, and now that we have the chance to all be together, just us, you turn tail and run!" His words once again turned to Halsin, who just responded with a deep sigh. "We've spent so long worrying about other people, about the world. Now we have the chance to focus on ourselves. Focus on us."

"I've had too many moment of selfishness on this quest so far. I fled from the Grove, twice, when they needed me most. I left poor Thaniel and Oliver when they were at their most vulnerable. I can't turn my back to the thousands of people that need help now." Halsin said, the slight shake in his voice would probably go unnoticed by anyone who didn't know him deeper. "I would give anything to stay with here with you two, to help find some way for you to feel the sun on your skin again, but I can't ignore where I'm truly needed."

"Here! You're truly needed here!" Astarion shouted again, finally taking steps towards the other man. The quiet sound of his name coming from your lips causing him to turn on his heels. "And you! How are you so okay with this?! You brought us together. You lead the three of us headlong into this love, and now you just sit there as it falls to pieces!"

"You think I'm okay with this?!" You finally shout back, standing from the bed. "You think i want to see either of you leave? You think I want us all to be separated after everything I've done for us, for the world?" Your words causing the two pairs of elf eyes to cast down, one in guilt and the other to hide the tears glossing his eyes. "What do you recommend I do in this moment, Astarion? Chain him to the bed and keep him here as some hostage? Keep him where he is obviously unhappy? I figured that if anyone was against that, it would be you!"

The meaning of your last sentence caused him to tense, crossing his arms over his chest as if to protect himself from the memories.

"Everything I did, all the battles we fought, and the people we killed, I did it for everyone to be free to make their own choices. So if either of you want to leave, then leave! I can say over and over how much I want you both here, for you both to be at my side, but if your heart is pulling you somewhere else, then who am I to stop you?" Your eyes shifted to meet Halsin's with a sad smile, mostly inviting him to make his escape if he truly meant to leave.

Astarion stood unusually quiet, his body tensing more and more with each step that sounded behind him as the druid walked to the door. His eyes closing tight as Halsin mentioned his damned Oak Father watching over you both and returning you to him some day before the door clicked closed.

You both stood frozen for a few moments, not really sure what to do with yourselves. The sound of multiple children's calling Halsin's name and running to greet him as he walked outside to meet the wagons that he would be traveling with floating through the window. It drew you over, pushing the curtain aside as you looked down at the people your partner had set off to help. While the sun hadn't quiet crested the horizon, you were still careful not to open the cover too much, not wanting to expose Astarion to any stray rays of the light.

The pair of hands at your sides caused you to lean back into the body behind you as a head rested against your shoulder. "And what shall we do now that 'Daddy Halsin' is off on a new adventure without us?" The two of you couldn't help but giggle at the nickname your partner has been bestowed with.

Your eyes slowly shifted from the large druid as you scanned over the line of wagons full of people. While you were happy that he was off to help people and follow his dream, your heart ached at the feeling like a part of your was missing. That was until it began to race, your spine straightening as an idea struck you.

"That depends, want to make a selfish decision with me?" You asked, quickly turning your head to look at Astarion's confused face.

"Do you know me to turn down selfish decision, Love?" His playful smirk didn't really reach his eyes, which still showed with curiosity to your meaning.

Halsin shushed the children down as he tried his best to herd them back into the wagon that would carry them on their journey, most of their eyes growing heavy from how early the caravan had decided to leave, wanting to be on the road before the sun got up and warmed the path too much. As the wagons began to move forward, his eyes moved to the windows of the room you three had spent the night before, hoping to catch a last glimpse of you and Astarion, not knowing when he would see you two again. To his dismay, the curtains were shut and still.

After hearing a heavy sigh, he began to move on with the wagons. Though he didn't get more than a few steps before a commotion behind him caused him to turn. His lips split into a smile as he watched you running to keep up with Astarion, who was rushing to the shelter of the covered wagon carrying barrels and boxes of food. A deep laugh rumbled in his chest as you bee lined for him, jumping at him and forcing his arms to rush to catch you.

"You didn't really think you would get to run off on a new adventure without us, did you?" Your voice rang out with laughter once he set you down.

"I wouldn't dream of it." The two of you smiled at a moment before he lifted you into the wagon with Astarion, moving to follow behind it.

"Except for the fact that you did dream of it, and you did actually get away for a few minutes." Astarion sassed, earning his a slap to the chest, "What?! He really thought we were gonna let him leave alone for a few minutes there!"

"And they were pure torture without you both." Halsin responded, placing his hand over his heart, "The Oak Father has smiled upon me and made our separation brief."

"Good save, 'Daddy Halsin'." Astarion smirked, sending the larger elf a wink before the three of you fall into laughter. The caravan continued on it's path towards a new life for many of the people in it, and while it probably wouldn't be easy, it definitely paled in comparison to anything the three of you has already been through together.

Y'know, I'm curious. I know you've been doing a lot of self aware Pokémon HCs, so something I wanna know is if you've ever done Self Aware N before. This isn't a request by any means, but just being curious if you've ever written our beloved christmas tree being self aware at all.

N: So... you're telling me that on top of my entire life being a lie in regards to my father and his team's beliefs, it's also completely fake and my entire purpose in this sick game is to entertain you? Is that it?

Player: ...Yeah pretty much, but I love you💕

N: ...

N: Well shit. If the almighty says they love me, who am I not to love them back?

Poor boy would be CLINGING to the only "real" person in his life after that

N would be such an interesting character to be self aware! I dont think I’ve written him self aware?? But 👀

He’s already dealing with so much, so suddenly being snapped to self awareness, or slowly becoming aware, are things that could be quite a shock for him.

Whether he knows right away when you start a new game, or becomes so over a playthrough, its such an interesting thing.

Imagine he goes through everything in the story of Black and White

How he grows and learns, and how his relationship with the player character evilves until the end.

And then he wakes up. He’s in the castle again, and Ghestsis is back, as if nothing happened.

He tries to shake it off as some dream, only for his fears to almost choke him when he sees the player character again ‘for the first time.’

But he notices something. How their face is blank. Eyes empty.

He tries to ask what’s going on, but his feet are walking for him, and suddenly words are pouring from his mouth. Familiar words he said on his own last time. Now they feel forced from his throat.

And then he’s in a battle.

This time though, something is different.

Their pokemon are different. A different level, maybe a different gender, maybe a whole new team.

He fights, but his attention is elsewhere. He swears he sees something flicker behind Them. For a split moment, he swears he sees a screen, and a face.

“Ah… I hope I’m not too under-leveled for this challenge. I should have leveled up a bit more…”

He thinks that Hilbert/Hilda is speaking, but their mouth never moves. Its as if its coming from around him.

“Oh well. It will at least be a challenge this time! Battling N is always a treat.”

N feels sick. His hands are sweaty, and his pokemon, his friends, are so oddly quiet.

The battle is over in what feels like seconds. Before he can even ask what’s going ok, his feet are moving, and he’s talking once more.

Words he’s already spoken fall from his lips. No matter how he tries to stop them, he can’t.

He doesn’t believe this anymore! Why is this happening? Why can’t he stop? Move! Move. Move…!

And then he does. His feet move on their own, all the way back home. He can finally breathe again, but at what cost?

Until he figures out what is going on, he’s trapped in his own personal nightmare. Especially when Ghetsis swings by, acting so sickeningly sweet. His honey laced words that are secretly coated with venom.

How the lies fall from Ghetsis’ lips so easy, and N wonders how he fell for them in the first place.

But he can’t react. Not until he knows what’s going on.

But he does make one vital connection.

You.

Hilbert/Hilda.

Whoever, or whatever they are. He always ends up being forced back to them against his will. Forced to speak the lies he once believed.

And he hears Them. The voice. It always comes back, making commentary.

Yes… whatever madness is happening, they are the key, he is sure of it.

He may not believe it is a god at first, but if you do more playthroughs, he might be inclined to start doing so.

What else could rewind time, and make a new timeline for fun? Forcing people to forget, and relive it, just a little differently each time?

But you are always positive about him, despite the things he’d done. The things he’s being force to relive again and again.

Maybe you’re not as wicked as one might think when trapped in this madness. You don’t even seem aware he’s being forced to relive this.

Perhaps to you, you don’t believe anyone remembers? Is he just an anomaly?

What about Hilbert/Hilda? You seem to control them. He no longer sees them as the teenagers who were eager to oppose him.

They are just empty vessels for you. Something he doesn’t think he would have noticed naturally.

Its like theres a fog in his head. He thinks he remembers the teenager being so… animated. Alive.

But thinking on it? They never were.

They are just a puppet, and no one but him notices.

It’s scary. But he doesn’t think you realize this completely either. Despite this horror, you don’t seem malicious. In fact, you even seem enraged and annoyed on his behalf every time you meet.

He doesn’t understand it. Not yet. But he vows to figure it out.

I wrote a short story intro to my future AO3 Fanfic for D&D/BG3. This short story is about the ascension of Gale and my Tav, Zoephia to godhood at the end of my playthrough.

It is the first story I have written in 15 years so I am all nerves posting this on here. I hope you enjoy it.

Title: Ai Armiel Telere Maenen Hir. You hold my heart forever.

1493 DR

Zoephia is a goddess now. She is a forest matron steadying the balance of nature much like the good goddess, Mielikki.

She earned her place as a guardian of the natural world as if it was always meant to be. Forever bound to Elysium. To the House of Nature. A deity of natural healing. A deity of hope.

Her path to godhood was clear after falling in love with a handsome human wizard, now God of Ambition.

As she embraced Gale in his glorious silver form, he smiled and leaned down to kiss her lips, “I cannot wait to see what you will become, my love.”

Together they ascended and together they are bonded for eternity. Aleiryid.

The smell of pine hung in the cool damp air as Zoephia took gentle steps through the forest. She remembered a time when this lush forest was thought beyond repair. It has been two years since the transformation began. The Shadowlands were no more. As the giant twisting vines receded, the trees they once choked, flourished and grew. The rain swept down from the sky, feeding the land with the promise of new life. It was becoming as lush as the forests of the Green Isle.

Zoephia was suddenly swept up in her memories. Seeing in her mind’s eye how her companions fought side-by-side against the twisted Sharrian darkness.

They were overrun by the constant negative energy that consumed her druidic powers, stifled Gale’s connection to the weave, consumed their hope, and almost cost their lives. The shadows twisted their thoughts and drained their souls. By the end, it felt they would never recover. Permanently scarred from the torment and withered by the darkness.

With each battle they fought and won, they brought light to this twisted and marred land.

For a druid, it was perhaps the harshest environment she would ever experience. No life, no trees, no water that was not polluted by the festering darkness. It sapped her will. Her hope. As a new nature goddess, she will never allow such crepuscule shade to plague the lands ever again.

The transformation is incredible, she thought as her bare feet stepped lightly over a branch, barely touching the forest floor to not disturb its fragile regeneration.

She took another step, gently caressing the petals of a newly bloomed night orchid and smiled. How long had it been since she fought alongside her companions, her friends, to release this land from the curse of darkness that kept it frozen in time. Months? Years? "Yes, it must be years." she whispered.

Time passes quite differently in Elysium.

She touched the damp bark of the restored great oak tree standing tall outside of the newly restored Town of New Reithwin. She could feel its life essence within, strong and fierce. No longer did it struggle to live in the former Shadowlands, this ancient tree flourished with new vigor. It wanted to live. She remembered that feeling deep within herself. The will to live. The need to keep going and restore the natural order and the love she felt for her companions.

The beauty in their souls.

She knew their minds, their hearts, their deepest fears. They shared, they struggled, they were victorious against the vast evil that threatened to destroy everything they held dear.

Her heart no longer beat like the mortal half-elf she was, but it still ached and longed to see them again.

She heard in her mind the voice of her once wizard companion, lover, and now God, "My love, are you nearby? I feel the strain in your heart again. Do you need me to join you? I can be by your side in just a moment. "

He was never far away. They ascended to the heavens together. Forever bound to each other. Knowing each other. Sharing thoughts and emotions the only way gods can do.

Though he was busy tending to his growing flock of ambitious followers, he was always in tune with her needs and desires. She was his everything and he was hers. Aleiryid.

"I am quite alright, my heart." she responded as she took another soft step in the forest. "I was just thinking about how long it has been since we conversed with our Torilian friends."

He sighed back in her mind. She felt his sigh more than heard it. The connection they have is visceral. "I know my love; we will see them again soon. I promise."

She could feel his longing to see them too.

Zoephia smiled knowing he always kept his promises.

Gale could feel her smile and teased, “Do not stray far, my love. I will need you back in my arms soon.”

As if he could not just appear in front of her with a wave of his hand, she mused, my silly wizard god.

He would forever be her wizard as much as she would forever be his druid regardless of their godhood.

Zoephia wandered further into the forest admiring the beauty that surrounded her. A small mouse greeted her warmly, twitching his nose at her, she leaned down and gently patted his soft furry head. He squeaked in appreciation and scuttled off.

That was her gift. She granted blessings to those who were kind to nature and animals.

Her followers, though not many, were blessed with the goodness that always lay within her. She wanted to grant them the same blessing she felt when she was an adventuring druid, and animal guardian.

Oh, there were many animals during their travels. Cats, squirrels, blue jays, ravens, and her favorite owlbear and Scratch. She collected them all and they came to live with them at camp.

She smiled thinking of a time when one more cat wandered into their camp seeking shelter. An exasperated Astarion stomped his feet in protest at yet another animal to feed, though, she chuckled at the thought, he was not even the one to share food with them.

As Zoephia laid down on the forest bed, she fondly remembered the night she saw that the five cats that called their camp home had curled up around Astarion as he meditated in his bedroll.

He never protested. He did not push them away. They were suddenly his and no matter how much disdain his face showed, she knew he was enamored by their quiet devotion to him.

Zoephia smiled again at the silliness of it all.

When she ascended, she granted Astarion a boon to be able to speak with cats.

No potion, no magic spell to cast, just the knowledge to understand. Like being granted the ability to understand a language of a foreign land.

At first, he was shocked and annoyed with her, and then elated with his newfound gift. It was all his. He was delighted when a white fluffy cat, he fondly named, The Duchess, became his constant companion. So alike they were in continence and attitude, thought Zoephia, catty. She chuckled at the thought.

She remembered quietly watching the Duchess and Astarion conspiring together to take over the cat guild in the Lower City.

Yes, Baldur’s Gate even had a cat guild. Six-toes the Tabby ran the guild.

Zoephia remembers giggling uncontrollably thinking of how it paralleled The Guild run by Nine-Fingers Keene.

She missed Astarion. She missed his laugh. She missed his aloofness. She missed their friendship.

Gods, it had been ages since she last saw them at Wither's reunion party. She reminisced.

She hugged and kissed each of them before walking to the beach where their adventures all began.

Standing there before her was her newly ascended wizard sparkling with silver and blue magic.

Gale took her right hand in his. He softly ran the back of his silver left hand along her jaw, looking into her forest green eyes. His voice sounded determined as he spoke, “I love you, Zoephia. We have been through the hells and back together, you stood by me, you comforted me when I did not fancy our chances of survival. You loved me when I thought love was lost to me forever. I want you by my side ever more, but this is for you to decide.”

He hesitated momentarily trying to gage her expression then continued, “I promised to give you the stars, to intertwine our spirits together in the weave, to never be parted from you.” He paused again, stepping closer to Zoephia and gently touched her cheek.

“What do you say? Shall we be bonded in the heavens, will you be my ethereal wife, my goddess, for the rest of time?”

Even as a god, Gale still held a worried look on his face, his unsure glowing eyes, full and round. His brow furrowed with the thought that he may lose Zoephia forever, if she declined. He stood there waiting for an answer to his proposal, with hope in his heart.

Zoephia knew in her whole being that she could never be parted from him. Her Aleiryid.

She finally spoke, “Yes, Gale, I love you.” she took a step closer to him, “I want that more than anything, I’m ready.”

His handsome face transformed into pure joy. He had the wide grin of a man completely enamored by the elf in front of him, he looked down and let out a short breath of relief.

He looked up again to meet her eyes, "Then follow my lead." he said with a sly smile, as he took her into his arms. He waved his hand and conjured a circle around them, transporting them to Elysium.

She ascended.

She glowed thinking on the memory as she lay on the forest bed, cradled by the long grass, looking up at the clear blue sky. She let her thoughts of love drift through her connection with Gale. She immediately felt his response in her mind. Unbridled love and desire for her.

My story includes original D&D characters which will be introduced and have their own backstories. The main character, Eadalah, an elven cleric of nature will become a devout follower of Zoephia and then things go from there. She is surrounded by two companions of her own, a human rogue and a wood-elf druid. They are based on RL D&D campaign characters my friends brought to life. Their antics are so much fun to write. They will be joined by other characters as their campaign moves forward. Eventually the trio plus their new companions will be in Baldur's Gate with the old BG3 team, guided by the gods, Gale and Zoephia. I hope you all will enjoy it when I am finished writing it. xxx

on sora’s time in the sleeping worlds and coming to terms with other’s pain

so, i was recently rewatching a playthrough of the kingdom hearts series from a YT channel i particularly enjoy and had some thoughts when it came to dream drop distance. the player had quite a bit to say about the overall plot of that game, and that seems to fall in line with how i’ve seen a lot more people than i thought view DDD as well--that it’s not that great? i totally get being frustrated with the real organization shenanigans because the planned time travel was a bit much but…idk, i’ve never really been into KH for the villains and their schemes. DDD has always kind of been one of my favorites, so as i was rewatching this playthrough of it, i was thinking over why it gets the flack it does story-wise, and why i still think it’s good beyond that.

i’ve always loved riku’s arc, and i loved sora in DDD, but i was honestly “meh” on it until this current rewatch when i was thinking over it all again, and keeping in mind other things in the series better. and now i think i’ve cracked it--i figured out a nice little piece for why sora’s arc works, even if it’s subtle and possibly not fully intended.

and…bear with me here…but it’s partially because of re:coded

STAY WITH ME, I PROMISE I HAVE A POINT!!! it’s below the cut since this will be long, but hear me out: sora in DDD is going through the same things that data sora did in re:coded, and proving that he will always come to the same conclusion about how to handle the pain the others in his heart have gone through (maybe someone’s discussed all of this before, so sorry if i’m just rehashing a well-known point, but…wanted to share my thoughts, haha)

okay. so, in order to really talk about this, let’s revisit what are probably the most important sections of re:coded, and what they do well on a story-telling level.

in the last quarter or so of re:coded, data sora is brought back to help mickey and friends find the meaning of the second message that’s appeared in jiminy’s journal: “Their hurting will be mended when you return to end it.” data sora ends up arriving at an illusion of castle oblivion, and is goaded along by a data version of roxas to go deeper into the castle. this data roxas taunts him about how he’ll never remember the people he encounters in each part of the castle, poking and prodding data sora along through all the revisited worlds.

in one of the earliest rooms (destiny islands i think), data sora has a conversation with the data version of riku that has turned up. data riku shows him a vision of riku and kairi from the events of KH1. afterwards, data riku asks what data sora would have done if he’d known this. and data sora answers immediately:

data riku seems pleased with this outcome, and he eventually goes on to say: “Just follow your heart, and you can change the lives of not one, but many.”

as data sora goes deeper into this version of castle oblivion, he only comes across more pain in his heart as he forgets the people he meets. he may forget the people themselves, but the doesn’t forget that he met someone as he goes through the castle.

I feel moments of loneliness. You said there would be no hurt feelings, but I AM hurting. When the memories are gone, they just leave a hole. And having that longing inside me hurts.” End ID. ]

data roxas eventually confronts data sora about what he’s come to terms with in the castle: that some of that pain he’s feeling is what helps him connect with others, to truly empathize with them. data roxas sees this as a sign that data sora passed his test, to see if he could come to terms with the pain in the hearts he’s most closely connected to.

data namine soon confirms that the real sora carries around a lot of pain that isn’t his own inside his heart--and that he’s found a way to face the suffering all of these disparate parts of himself had to endure. he’s already equipped to face it and help those he’s met that have been lost.

something that i think i’ve come to appreciate more is that as he’s gotten older, sora has ended up becoming really emotionally intelligent. he’s an extremely empathetic character, and always has been. after all, he gave a piece of himself to someone to fix their broken heart when he was still an infant.

we all know that his empathy and ability to connect emotionally to others is kind of sora’s whole thing--his friends are his power! but it makes sense that sora’s able to face the pain and suffering characters like xion and ven went through because he is such an open and caring person.

what struck me as critical in all this as i was thinking over what sora goes through in DDD are the instructions namine gives for how to handle the pain of others that sora is holding onto.

And if it happens that the hurt is too great for you to bear it alone, well, then you turn to a friend close to your heart.” End ID. ]

this is less a “do this thing for the first time” to me--it’s data namine reinforcing something that data sora (and the real sora by extension, obviously) already knows very well. there is strength to be found in the bonds you share, and that if you need it, you can always rely on the friends you’ve made. this was made apparent through the entire series but this serves as a reminder that yes, sora has been doing the best thing he can. he has remained true to his heart, and is willing to rely on those he cares about.

we know that being alone and only relying on yourself is not the best thing to do in the series--it’s part of what drives riku to darkness in KH1--so that’s why this is a reassurance that sora already knows how to face this sort of pain.

so. WHAT on earth does this have to do with dream drop distance, you might be asking. well, it all stems from the YT channel i was watching this series playthrough from. the channel is PlayFrame (highly recommend looking at their stuff!) and dan, the one playing through the series, had a good take on re:coded's story: he liked the general themes being played with at the end of re:coded, but was upset it was not happening to actual sora. and that sentiment stuck with me as i got to DDD in the series playthrough, and that’s the lens that i viewed sora’s side of the story through.

anyway. let’s dive (ha) in, shall we?

at the end of re:coded, king mickey writes that letter in a bottle that gets to sora in the post credits of KH2 to explain the revelations from the end of re:coded. sora knows now that he’s the thread that will save people like roxas and xion and aqua and ventus, and he knows what data namine was wanting him to eventually face.

at the start of DDD, sora is aware that he needs to face the pain of others that is currently residing in his heart and find a way to save those that have been lost. he is primed with that knowledge, and likely wants to face it the way data sora did.

why do i think this? well…it's in the true secret ending of BBS, first off. sora acknowledges the contents of the letter (likely mickey explaining re:coded and asking him and riku to meet with yen sid), and knows that he was shaped partially because of the BBS trio and the pain he has in his heart from others.

i think that the mark of mastery exam in DDD was really a chance for sora and riku to do some self-reflection and consider what may or may not be holding them back from becoming classical keyblade masters. in BBS, master eraqus says this of the mark of mastery exam:

Today you will be examined for the Mark of Mastery. Not one but two of the Keyblade's chosen stand here as candidates...but this is neither a competition nor a battle for supremacy--not a test of wills, but a test of heart. [...] Remember, [ for Aqua and Terra's duel ] there are no winners, only truths, for when equal powers clash, their nature is revealed.

eraqus's words are admittedly more specific to the exam aqua and terra had, but the idea that what's being tested is the person's heart seems very relevant to sora and riku in dream drop distance. they both have a chance to reflect on themselves, and who they truly are.

we know how riku’s arc goes: he finally realizes that he does have the power to protect what matters to him, and that darkness in his heart is not something to fear. it does not make him any less worthy to wield a keyblade, nor does it keep him from being a keyblade master.

but what about sora? first off, i do agree that first and foremost sora never really cared about the results of this mark of mastery--he's never needed the "master" label, nor does he think riku needs it. but he goes through with it especially to help riku finally overcome what doubt he still has.

anyway, outside of Overall Series Plot happening to him in this game and the contrived reason he isn’t also named a master, what does sora come to realize? well, it’s what data namine wanted for him: to face the pain inside him head on, and to rely on those close to his heart when he couldn’t do it alone.

what do i mean by this? let’s go world by world to see.

starting with hunchback, since we visit traverse town twice:

sora realizes that quasimodo is putting up walls in his heart that keep him from being hurt--walls that, in turn, are becoming something of a “prison”. they’re what keep quasimodo safe, but also keep him disconnected from others and is an excuse for why he doesn’t leave notre dame cathedral.

at the end of sora’s time in this world, quasimodo has opened himself to others, and decides to not keep his fears from holding him back. as sora processes this information, of course, we have the villains telling him that his own heart is now a prison for someone else--ventus.

i don’t think this is true for sora and ven’s situation, and that the organization is just trying to make sora question himself. sora welcomed ven into his heart willingly to keep ven safe--it’s been a very long time, yes, and sora will eventually need to help ven return to his body, but sora’s heart isn’t a prison.

sora opened his heart when he was very young to ventus--and he has continued to be open and compassionate to basically everyone else. he sees the good in people, and believes in them far longer than others. it can make him too trusting at times, but it undeniably saved ven.

after hunchback, we have the grid and prankster’s paradise, and these should be easy enough to figure out.

the grid for sora is all about his relationship to tron and making rinzler remember who he truly is. quorra is pretty quick to throw in the towel on sora’s attempts to reach his friend’s heart, but sora keeps trying--and eventually, he does manage to have a breakthrough. he helps tron fight off his reprogramming, and remember their friendship. he’s able to touch tron’s heart and remind him of what’s important--he just has to give tron the time he needs, and eventually help him regain his sense of self.

my, that sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

there’s one quote from the jeff bridges character that i feel is important to note here:

That’s the thing about programs. Mess with the code just a little, and their whole nature and memory can change.

sora’s time in the grid helps him understand a bit more of what “copies” of him can be going through, and honestly is an important part of why he is able to help xion and roxas in 3 (at least to me). xion’s suffering is tied to how the organization used and abused her, and them tampering with her memories is why she starts off on their side in 3. but sora, good boy that he is, manages to break through to her with a little help from roxas--just like he needed the right thing to reprogram rinzler and help him remember that he was tron all along.

as for prankster’s paradise…

the fact that nobodies do actually have hearts is confirmed towards the end of the game, but it’s clear sora has already mostly figured it out on his own. i’ll touch on it a little more later on, but sora knows that roxas has his own heart, living on inside his own--it’s a reminder of how roxas still exists, and how much of his own person he is outside of sora. he respects roxas's sense of identity as of the end of KH2, which leads him to act the way he does when faced with xemnas here.

xemnas is still putting on the show here that nobodies are beings without hearts, and sora knows that is blatantly untrue--why else would roxas feel the things he did if that was the case?

the other three worlds--traverse town, the country of musketeers, and the symphony of sorcery--do the same thing that data namine did in re:coded. they reinforce the things sora already knows about connecting with others, and relying on their strength when he can’t do things alone.

sora says it directly to neku in the revisit to traverse town: it’s good that neku admitted to needing shiki around. sora has always trusted in people to rely on him and to return the favor, so he sees none of the shame that neku feels in admitting that he needs other people.

the recurring musketeer motto of “All for one, and one for all!” when sora joins mickey, donald, and goofy in protecting princess minnie is another reminder of all this: sora knows the true value of teamwork with his party members, and how important donald and goofy are to him. they are his friends for life, and they’ll be at his side the way he’s at theirs. he reassures them the way they reassure him and always have.

sora’s belief in riku is something that’s shown throughout the entire game, and the symphony of sorcery is just one example of many in truth--but sora has never doubted riku or even kairi and the others. even if he can’t see riku, even if his friends are a million miles away, sora knows that they have his back.

for the Overall Series Plot happening in DDD, this is very good for sora to remember--riku becomes a dream eater to protect sora in this game, so a friend helping from afar is quite literal. (i think it’s also important to remember this when thinking about the ending of kh3, and where sora has found himself. he still has people who love and care for him, even if they’re a million worlds apart from each other.)

anyway, now we come to the heart of the matter. has sora ended up in the same place as data sora? can he accept the pain the different pieces of him went through, and help them? as of kh3’s ending we know he’s helped them, but what about DDD? had he done it by the end of that game?

sora comes face to face with namine and xion, and while he doesn’t connect with them, really, he does seem to feel their pain.

the most apparent interaction that leaves its mark is, of course, when he encounters roxas.

at the end of KH2, sora has accepted that roxas had a clear sense of self, and was his own individual in spite of being sora's nobody. because sora is fully aware that roxas has his own heart and strong sense of, sora can firmly insist that roxas is his own person. roxas respects this, and opens his heart to sora, to share the truly terrible things that happened to him. and sora faces it, the way he needs to.

sora has faced roxas’s pain and suffering, at least. sora knows how the organization used and abused him, and how diz did the same. and sora is ready to face the pain the others in his heart are carrying--or, at least, that’s what i believe.

when riku encounters ansem the wise in sora’s heart at the end of the game, what ansem says is something i think kind of ties everything together:

Sora was the only one able to return to his human form without destroying his Nobody. That is a statement to the love in his heart for other people, and the bonds that tie them together. Perhaps…he has the power to bring back the hearts and existences of those connected to him--to recreate people we thought were lost to us forever. [ … ] Sora has a heart like [ a child's ]--uncorrupted, willing to see the good before the bad. When he sees the heart in something, it then becomes real. When a connection seems broken, he may have the power to mend it. [ … ] He has touched countless hearts, he has accepted them, and he has saved them. [ … ] All Sora needs to do is be himself and follow wherever it is that his heart takes him. It is the best and only way.

after the opening section of kh3 in olympus colosseum, what’s the thing that sets sora off on his journey?

his desire for roxas to truly be his own person. during DDD, sora came to truly understand just how hard roxas fought to be his own person, even moreso than knew at the end of KH2, and wants to follow through on what he said to roxas directly. roxas, to sora, deserves to be his own person as much as sora does. and so, following that desire, sora sets out on this final leg of the Dark Seeker story arc.

so many people move mountains to make roxas beign his own person a reality. not even just roxas, actually, but xion and namine too--all because sora understood that roxas had his own heart, memories, and history. he saw roxas’s suffering and still pushed through to make sure his nobody got the life he deserved.

sora faced what pain he could, and did everything in his power to undo the suffering the people connected to him were feeling--and when he couldn’t do it himself, he let others help him. just the way namine (and her creation, data namine) wanted.

im sorry this is so long and kind of rambly--but i feel like i finally get sora in DDD outside of the organization’s plans for him, and that the off hand comment from this lets play i’m rewatching actually ended up being true. if you made it this far down in this silly post thanks for reading, hope you're having a good day ;u;

All my thoughts on Alan Wake 2: The Final Draft below! Major Spoilers for the game (and Control 2019). This is a very long post, but this game has taken over my mind.

The Final Draft was good! I’ve never played NewGame+ versions of games before, so I don’t know if this is usually how it goes. The additional material and introduction/ending makes it all worth it, although I wish there was a way to speed up the case board process, since I completed almost all of it my first go.

My immediate concern is. What is ‘a master of many worlds’? What does that MEAN?? Surface level, he can already exert power over his world and the dark place, so that was the two he was initially referring to. Since Door said the Dark Place was a mirror that reflected other realities, is that why Alan now holds power of them? No matter what, he is Way too confident for someone who’s been an absolute mess. The power of being loved and reaching out to others is just that good.

I’ve vaguely known about this draft’s ending and I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. Actually playing through again helped me lose that negativity, although I still prefer the first ending! Hearing Saga’s relief at Logan being alive and Alan rising from the dead was one amazing sequence. Visually beautiful and acted out.

The EXPRESSION you can see on Saga the second Logan picks up. I was so happy for her. Having Logan and Casey by her side. No matter what comes next, they succeeded in saving both of them. Now—are Saga, Casey, and Alan all in the dark place? In an overlap? Or Bright Falls?

The “love is strange” quote was a personal favorite. Sometimes you love someone so much, both of you ascend past your humanly self and become so intertwined in thought and memory that you’re always with each other. Love is strange.

Is anyone else ridiculously nervous about what’ll happen with Alan and Alice?? They both seem to be in states that are tied to each other and the dark place. I don’t know if they can technically leave. Read some theories on Alice being the bullet of light, but I took it as a sort of symbolic gesture, with her still being an agent moving in the dark place. Similar to Zane or Darling. Idk.

The ‘Spiral’ writer’s room video got to me even more than the ending! Bringing up how time is overlapping, which means Alan IS already at the end of the spiral, as an enlightened figure, potentially “playing a secret game” or “building something”. There’s an inevitability to Alan’s fate that stresses me out. Describing himself as a demiurge or demon too,, somehow he made everything 10x more unsettling. So thanks for that Alan. Love it for the horror, but also I just want Alice and Alan to reunite with Barry… it’s not looking so good.

I was already a fan of the cliffhanger-ish ending, but, even after seeing this one with more confirmations, I don’t understand comments I’ve seen about having to play the Final Draft to get the actual/true ending. The first ending was emotionally satisfying and left a bigger impression imo. It was the turning point of this entire cycle Alan was stuck in and is what makes the Final Draft’s ending feel earned. It didn’t need confirmation on Logan answering back or Alan ascending because Alice’s post-credit video implied that was what would eventually happen. I still like this final draft’s ending, but I don’t think it’s to the detriment of the original playthrough and won’t hurt if anyone doesn’t end up playing through it (Kinda how I view AWAN too—although I haven’t finished it)

Dr. Darling my beloved. My everything. Remedy took their chance at making the funniest crossover. Alan repeating text over and over, being what’s keeping the dark place formed in its current shape—reminded me of the final nursery rhyme. This could’ve been creepier, but Darling’s reaction of “let’s not think too much about that” for the voice was golden. And what is there even to say about Zane and Darling. They got to flirt, so good for them. The ramifications of this could be dire or stay as some gag.

My conclusion on the situation with Alan, Zane, and Scratch is “I don’t think we’ll ever really know.” All the same person, but also every iteration is their own person. Their existences are too muddled and changed and distorted to ever find an origin or who made who.

I do find it fun that generally Zane IS helping Alan/Scratch and wanted to collaborate with Alan, and Scratch also wanted to become one with Alan, be the heart, bring an enteral deerfest that celebrates Alan. They’re both dangerous and/or manipulative, but it doesn’t seem to be out of hate.

My game had a bug where I could never talk with Odin and Tor apart from the mandatory scenes to move the game, so I missed everything near her trailer AND whatever they were standing around for in the Final Draft 😔

The Lake House page is making me excited for the DLC with the same name! Big fan of Remedy’s love for mad scientists and their death-by-hubris. Another Darling name drop that further shows how annoyed some FBC employees are at Darling’s golden boy reputation and his smug confidence. Incredible.

The Night Springs intro video!! Literally lays out what happens. Alan succeeds, transcends, and becomes a master of these realities he was inspired from. Interested in what this means for the Night Springs DLC. Will it make characters experience one of these other realities or will it remain grounded in the real world of Alan Wake 2?

I’m in love with how Alan Wake 2 repeatedly tells the player what the story and themes are, and outright says reveals and the ending before it plays out. The Yötön Yö song about Scratch, the Zane film of the same name spoiling “It’s not a loop it’s a spiral” and Alice+Alan in the Final Draft, this Night Springs intro confirming his success, all the nursery rhymes predicting Saga’s life, etc. Telling out what will happen through different mediums of art. It’s a clever way of making everything fit together and imply that Door, Zane, Alice, etc. aren’t as affected by the loop’s cycles restarting.

There’s mysteries that haven’t gotten answered at all. Nothing for Tim’s future and underlying connection to Door (I know it’s related to Quantum Break, but haven’t played). The 103 door a guest at the lodge kept banging and screaming at, which I think had the square looped symbol at the Oceanview Motel in Control. The employees door at Oh Deer Diner was always closed off.

Bishop AU Timeline (roughly)

I know my Bishop AU is the most convoluted mess since I only drop fluff doodles and angst comics left and right. I hope I can clear some things up with this rough timeline post. Questions are as always welcome.

It'll be long. (The google doc I wrote is 17 pages long...) I link to each individual post I made.

Bishop AU Lamb - they / them (preferred), any (acceptable) (click!)

Follows canon/average playthrough mostly. Lamb gets sacrificed as the last of their kind and send to The One Who Waits, who offers them life in exchange for their service in freeing him. (click!)

Lamb becomes cult leader, runs cult

They fall in love with TOWW and get romantically involved with him, and later also the twins. (click!)

Lamb kills Bishops

TOWW expects them to lay down their life and return the crown, since he does not see any other way this would work. Lamb feels betrayed and thinks he lied (about his affection) and manipulated them. (click!)

They fight, win but cannot get themselves to kill Narinder. (click!)

He is injured, fallen from godhood and has to live life as a mortal.

Narinder gets indoctrinated into the cult, but feels equally betrayed by Lamb as they are by him, so they hate each other and feel a lot of pain about the situation. (click!)

They fight often. (click!)

5 years post-Gateway Narinder Quests start, Lamb does the quests, they also find a special place (Crown statue) where they find themselves at night sitting and talking frequently. (click!)

Over the span of another 5 years Lamb completes Narinder quests, they both manage to heal and get over all the stuff that happened.

They notice they are both still infatuated with each other. (click!)

They meet at the crown statue and have their first actual kiss.

They get back together, but take things more slowly this time around. After all, there is no rush since they're both immortal. (click! click! click! there are so many ngl,,)

Some time later (roughly 1-2 years) Lamb brings forward that they want to resurrect the twins, so they do research into getting the ritual to work. (click!)

Lamb is injured from the ritual, but recovers.

Twins now are followers to Lamb’s cult, and keep their immortal status. They also date Lamb again. (click!)

A couple hundred years post-Gateway Lambs body slowly grows, eventually they achieve ascension to godhood. (click!)

They open their 3rd eye, receiving Godhood status.

They are eager to try out their new abilities, once their body recovers. Narinder, Aym and Baal also join them on crusades. (click!)

Eventually they grow tall and take on the Bishop title, with their domain being death due to the Red Crown. (click!)

They no longer use the red crown (it is sleeping), but manage to figure out a way to put some of the crown’s power into an amulet/bell. (click!)

He gets flashback from his time in his former form and imprisonment when using it for the first time.

He is in service to Bishop Lamb, their right hand and second in command. (click!)

So I’ve been contemplating Nilofynn’s fey patron again, still trying to get a feel for her. I’d wanted someone a little flighty, maybe a little silly, but also still a typical petty, possessive sorta fey creature. But I figured I’d do a little lore digging to see if there was a canon Archfey that I could use instead of making one up because I’m lazy like that. And uh…I got more than I bargained for. (Ramble-y thoughts ahead, including evil!AU thoughts. Yay!)

I never wanted his patron to be evil, so I was looking into the Seelie Court. And then I thought, wait, wouldn’t it be interesting if his patron was actually Titania, the Seelie Queen? Cuz like, you’d have to be either mad or super sure of yourself to go making a pact with a Bhaalspawn, right? An unpredictable murder machine? But then I thought, why the hell would she want one, especially with Bhaal’s Chosen, made from his own essence?

Well, obviously she offered up the contract while Bhaal was still dead. Duh. Tried to get in there while Bhaal had minimal influence, maybe turn Fynn to the light.

Like, she sees this young man full of so much life and with so much love to give and his affinity for nature and then wham the Urges take over and he murders his adoptive family. He’s broken. So she steps in and is like, ‘hey, it’s okay, it wasn’t your fault. I can help, you know. I have power. I can use that to help, to keep you calm, to keep you grounded, keep you you.’ Of course it doesn’t always work, and it never works when he falls in love, they always die, but he just can’t stop falling anyway, and Titania is there in the aftermath, giving comfort, consoling him and trying to figure out a way to help him. But she’s not as much of a match for the dead god of murder as she thought, and then Bhaal returns, and it’s worse, it’s so much worse, and Fynn gets darker and becomes the Chosen and she thinks she’s lost him. But then he falls in love with Gortash, and it’s a terrible decision, really, but it’s him, it’s that boy full of love she’s been trying to protect. She has hope.

And then he gets his brain whacked apart and tadpoled, and he forgets it all. Even her. But it’s an opportunity. He’s not the Chosen now, Bhall isn’t whispering directly in his ear, he doesn’t know the terrible things he’s done, the thing his father turned him into. She gets a do-over. She can save him this time. Which is why she refuses to answer any questions about his past. He thinks she’s stringing him along, but she’s really trying to steer him the right way, protect him from his past. And between her belief in him, and the rest of the gang’s belief in him, especially Astarion and Halsin, it works. He does resist his Urges, he does defy Bhaal, he does get his happily ever after with the men he loves and their gaggle of critters and orphans and vampire spawn horde. And it feels like the best pact she’s ever made.

But in my lore digging, I also read about the Raven Queen. Which, the raven has very much been Fynn’s symbol to me since the beginning. He’s mutliclassed into ranger and has a raven familiar. And the Raven Queen’s domain is in the Shadowfell, and she collects memories of loss and tragedy. What’s more tragic than a man forced to kill every person he’s ever loved? So what if she had gotten her claws on him first that day he murdered his family? What if she was constantly whispering even more darkness in his ear? Well, then he’d be a hexblade warlock for one thing, and also he’d end up getting the Slayer form and telling Shadowheart to kill the Nightsong. He’d return to his place as the Chosen of Bhaal. He’d let Astarion ascend. And Halsin would be stuck watching them both feed into the worst of each other, descending further and further into darkness while he can’t do a thing about it. But he can’t kill them either, because he loves them too much and once again blames himself for it all. A big old tragedy all around.

IDK if I’ll do this evil!AU playthrough, but boy am I feeling the vibes. I’d make myself feel terrible the whole while, but it might be fun? I don’t usually do full evil playthroughs in games, but something about this compels me. (Also knowing that it’d just be and AU and in canon they’re all together and happy and being their best selves)

Synopsis

Sugar Sweet Destiny is Cookie Run: Kingdom’s newest April Fool’s Day event for 2023 based on countless PC games about finding love in high school. This post is not exhaustive yet, and it will be updated with time as I- the Editor- play the mode more and more. There will be spoilers for the endings here below the break, as well as a few pointers on how to win their hearts.

In order to start a new game, you need 15 Blooming Hearts. These Hearts will restock over time, and you can always buy more with Crystals, ads, or in packages

The Gifts and Album menus will open after your first playthrough

Clicking the “Minimize” button or desktop bar will minimize the game and show the desktop, and you can return to the game by clicking the icon on the bottom bar or the desktop

The red X button will close the game and take you back to your kingdom

Protagonist: You play the role of the protagonist, in which you name yourself. Choose carefully, that name will appear throughout the current run through the story. You are a reasonably popular student of Kingdom High, Class 1-C, going about your day, when you suddenly find a box of chocolates in your locker! Your choices will determine whether you make your feelings known to your classmates and win their hearts, or fall apart in a blubbering mess trying. How do you make these choices? When multiple blue buttons appear in the middle of the screen, choose one to determine your character’s next action.

If you make a choice that results in a Bad Ending before choosing to express your feelings to someone at the end of Day 5, you can choose to spend 15 more Blooming Hearts to go back to the scene and try again with another option

🌊 Serena Faire: A class senior, famous for her otherworldly beauty and quiet nature. Known for her frequent shutdowns on other students’ attempts to date her. Also known as the Ice Princess for seeming so cold with her perceived ignorance, but actually quite compassionate and kind.

⚔️ Derek DaChoco: The thuggish super-bully, rumored to be the son of a shady corporate bigwig. Doesn’t pick fights, but when he does, he swings a 2x4 (a two-by-four wooden board, most likely) with a raging flurry. Known as the Dark Tornado of Kingdom High. “Public Enemy Number One” of Kingdom High. Rumored to have flunked junior year for a full decade, can make almost everyone quake with fear.

“Looking at You” - Visiting Serena Faire on the roof during her moon-watching sessions, and even showing her how to turn a bowl of dough that looked like the full moon into moon pancakes, you could understand her and her fascination with the moon… and you were the only one who would accept her for it as you would also look up to her. “No. 1 Fan” - Seeing you being hounded by the fans for trying to cut the line to express your feelings without a gift, Marcus Madeline had to tell them to stop and shoved his way through the crowd. It was there when you mustered all your courage to ask him out on a walk by the lake. In front of EVERYONE. In a gasp and shock from the crowd, Marcus was seemingly just as confused as he wanted to give everyone his love. With unanimous approval from his fans, he reached out to you for the way YOU saw him: as himself. “Rooftop Serenade” - Following your friends cautiously through the unlocked door to the rooftop while simultaneously knowing that Serena Faire could be up there, you remain there after they disperse upon seeing nobody- and no ghost- there. You know where she is, and you call for her… and she responds back warmly. She remains there quite often to stare at the moon and feel her worldly concerns and whatever weighs her down melt away. The two of you share a moment in silent tranquility, nobody to witness it except the stars of the night sky. “The Great Cream Explosion” - Visiting a classroom with a lot of noise, you find Marcus Madeline and his world-famous madelines being swarmed by his fans and their recommendations for pastry pairings. “Disappointment” - After giving the senior bullies from the day before some money to stave them off, your attempt to approach Derek DaChoco was brushed off as he looked away and pretended to not know you. “Delicious Nonetheless” - Looking for Derek DaChoco during the annual baking day since you talked with him twice, you instead see his handiwork instead: chocolates! It’s unknown whether it was meant to be a dented snowman or a heart, but it was too good to be thrown away. Thinking- no… hoping that someone would show up and ask what you were doing, you kept eating the chocolates Derek made. Nobody came, so you left the room with a satisfied appetite… and a disappointed heart. Perhaps you were too quiet with those chocolates, hm? (30 Topping Pieces)

Ask Answers: May 15th Part 2

And here’s the next part of the long answer set of the day!

When will OL: N&F take place? Beginnings and Always took place during summer breaks, will now and forever take place during a fall break or will the characters be going to school at the time of the events we play through?

It takes place over all of the fall season, so school will be happening in OL2. Some events do take place in school, though many times events only start after school is already out for the day, haha.

Hey!! I have kind of a weird question?? I’m sorry if it’s been answered before and I just haven’t seen it but is OL 2 taking place during the same years as OL 1? I’m just curious, thank you for such amazing games!!!

It’s a similar time frame, but not 100% exactly same.

Do you have any idea when the demo for now and forever will be available?

Okay the crime show in Step 2: Growing up. Long blonde hair, police station, crime series? Was it The Closer? Because I’m the same age as MC and Cove and my mom was constantly watching that when I was 13. 😂

Haha, yeah! The Closer and, to a lesser degree, Medium were the kind of shows I was referencing there. My mom also used to watch those back in the day.

Hey um this might be an odd question but if the setting of OL: N&F is fall/autumn, what country or city will it take because my mind tells me it is either Poland or Canada. Also I can't wait for the game I am hyped

It’s set in the USA again. We’d like to be able to have cameos and that’s easiest to do if the OL games take place in the same country.

Is it possible for the PC of OL to have non-seriously dated other people in the in between years even if they’ve had a consistent crush on Cove?

You can causally date Baxter in Step 3 if you get his DLC and then ultimately choose Cove in Step 4. If you mean off-screen people, it doesn’t really come up, but you can certainly headcanon that. The game never says Cove is the only partner you’ve ever had.

Is there going to be a Kickstarter for Now and Forever as well? For like voiced names and stuff again? Didn’t find B&A until after it was released and I’d really love the opportunity to hear my name in the game 🥺

Yeah, we are gonna have a Kickstarter with getting a voiced name as a reward! Though, it will be more expensive than it was for OL1. I feel bad to raise the price but we realized too late the first time around that it was being super undersold for the amount of work it took, aha.

They’d have to first like you a fair amount, otherwise the most you’d get is maybe a pat on the shoulder. If they were attached, they might hug you if you broke down crying or if you gave them super good news.

May i ask how the Derek DLC will work? I believe that there aren’t any memories in step 4 and doesnt derek’s dlc take place during that step? So will the dlc add memories? Thank you!

Derek’s DLC will add five Moments to Step 2 (a new page will appear on that screen if you get the DLC). Then in Step 4 you’ll have to choose between playing the default epilogue or going through the Derek romance story.

Is the pc version on itch,io different from the steam version? Like an offline one or something?

Steam has achievements, but that’s about it. Both can be played offline, if you prefer.

I've been wondering this for awhile, what determines if cove winds up with a ponytail in step 3? I've done multiple runs with different MCs with varying hairstyles. Or does it have to do with a particular moment in step 2?

I’m afraid I can’t say exact choices that determine things. But generally it’s preference based options in the Step before that decide those things.

Any Floret Bond updates?

No, the artist had to leave the project and it’s been on-hold. I’m not sure if I want to try working just with what we have or replacing it all entirely. The design is a bit too specific for us to easily find someone who could mimic it. Hopefully we’ll work things out later, though.

In step 3 is Cove's plan always to stay in sunset bird?

Yeah. He is never ready at 18-years-old to make a big life change.

I love your content! If it's alright to ask, you answered in a previous ask about how Jeremy was too particular with what he likes his types to be romanceable with just any MC and it's sort of got me wondering.. What /are/ his types and/or preferences and such? Sorry if it's a lot!

Jeremy likes stubborn jerks and will not date someone who’s sweet or even generally a decent person, haha.

uh, excuse me if you said this somewhere before, but how will step 4 be actually? Will it he like an actual step and have moments and dlc and all? Or will it be more like a long epilogue of some sort?

Step 4 is only an epilogue, so it’s just a long series of scenes one after the other rather than a collection of Moments you can choose from.

The Step 4 epilogue is free, the wedding DLC, Derek DLC, and Baxter DLC cost money.

i’m not sure how much of the wedding dlc you have planned already, or if this would be to spoilery, but what kind of wedding traditions will be included? i keep thinking about how flustered cove would get over a garter toss & was wondering if we’d see a scene like that haha. obviously no worries if it’s not included, i’ll enjoy literally anything cove related

I don’t know for sure yet, haha. Right now we’re focused on the parts before the big day. We’ll see how many scene alterations we can include for the wedding itself later on.

Sadly, no. It’s a shame but there’s not enough time to keep making OL1 bonus/spin-off content.

How is Q pronounced?

I’m afraid Q’s full name hasn’t been publicly announced yet so I can’t answer here (Q and T are the first letters of the names for the new LIs in Our Life: Now & Forever).

Question; is the steam version getting a Mac update? I purchased the dlc there thinking it had Mac support without realizing it and just wondered if I’d need to refund it to purchase on itch.io 😭

I’m really sorry, you will need to get a refund from Steam. We do hope to have it there for Steam eventually, but have no idea of when it’ll happen. Apple requires special notarization to be an officially accepted app for their devices. We don’t have that. Steam requires having that, Itch will let you release it as an non-notarized third party app. That’s why Itch is the only place that has the Mac version right now.

would you mind posting outfit sheets for Cove in every step? it would make things a lot easier for us artists. it would save a lot of time spent looking for references

I think we did do the earlier steps when they were finished way back in 2019 (this game took a long time to make, aha), but we can probably repost them sometime!

In our life n&f, will we be able to get into qprs/will there be more options in regards to having deep platonic relationships with the love interests? Because as an aroace individual, it would be great if there could also be emphasis on platonic love so that it's more aspec inclusive.

It’s a little hard to say at this point. There may not be things like a wedding DLC for OL2 and so the relationship for platonic and romantic feelings might not go as far as it did in the first game. We’ll kind of have to see how much we can do based on timeframe/budget constraints that will only be set near the end of the year. But we will be keeping things like that in mind at least.

during the step 3 erands moment i got curious, which fudge flavor is his favorite? it seems like he likes all of them, but which 4 do you think he would like best?

also i noticed that in some playthroughs cove would let me give him a piggy back ride, and in some he wouldn't, how come?

how does your choices affect cove's interests or looks? i replayed the game without changing any choices but i got cove to look different, is it just random?

Cove’s favorite flavors are ones with nuts and that are fruity! But he appreciates them all. Whether or not you can give him a piggyback ride depends on if your MC is fit/large enough to hold a muscular 6-foot-tall beach boy, haha.

Cove’s appearance does depend on choices and it’s generally tied to choices that are preference based rather than emotion/action based, such as which key chain you pick in Step 1.

Is it possible for cove to reject MC's proposal at the end of step 3?

Nope. He’ll always accept.

hi! i was wondering how heavily the side characters will be featured in the our life wedding dlc? obviously it'll be cove & mc focused, but i was thinking it'd be sweet if we could take lizzie dress / suit shopping or dance with cliff at the wedding or something.

The side characters are there about as often as they are in normal events. So, it’s clearly focused on Cove but he’s not the only person you have any meaningful moments with.

When will responses be sent out to applicants?

I’m afraid we don’t send responses out to all applications, only ones we’re interested in offering the position to. Not everyone likes rejection emails and the amount of applications is too high to contact them all to say we’re not hiring them. We post updates on the job page when a position has news. Right now we’ve filled every role that was open.

Is there also going to be the option to keep your relationships with the love interests platonic in Our Life: Now and Forever? That's something I really appreciate in Our Life: Beginnings and Always

Yeah! OL will never force you to end up in a romantic relationship with someone.

I was wondering, in the Step 3 Happiness moment, what are the different fishes Cove can compare MC to? I got "you'd be a paradise fish, because being with you is paradise," but my friend got "you'd be an angelfish." Are there more variations?

He says paradise fish if you’re a couple, angelfish if he’s just crushing, and then a royal dottyback/queenfish/emperor tetra (based on your gender) if he likes the MC platonicly.

Hello! So, in one of the Step 3 DLCs, Cove's arm was gone. I think it was to show him putting his arm behind his back. But if that wasn't the case, did it get yeeted?

Thanks for letting us know. That was an error we tried to fix a little while back. When did you make the save file you were playing? If it was older that might be why it happened. Or maybe the error wasn’t fully fixed after all.

Asking for your opinion, but do you think Cove would at all be into ABBA? Because all I could imagine during the car trip in step 3 was him and the MC belting to Mamma Mia.

Haha, yeah, there’d definitely be some ABBA songs he was into.

So throughout the game, Cove can develop different interests depending on the player’s choices; does this mean that he can have different careers in Step 4? Or his is line of work in adulthood never mentioned at all?

He can have different career paths in Step 4!

It’s just a bonus side story that’s fully separate from the main game.

It would be nice to have one for Step 4 too, but I sadly don’t see us having time to actually do it. I don’t know, if people are still asking for more OL1 content several months from now it might be doable and worth doing.

ngl Step 4 Terry's design reads like y'all see trans guys as their assigned gender more than you see them as men to me (a trans guy)... like maybe if he isn't heavily dysphoric, I could see it, but everything you've said about him doesn't line up with that. Even then, immediate warning bells go off in my head looking at him. I wouldn't have touched the game if I saw him ahead of time.

I’m sorry you aren’t comfortable with the way the design looks. The situation with Terry is that he’s now open about who he is, but the body he was born with is still physically the same. He only came out recently as an adult and hasn’t gone through any treatments/procedures yet (his chest is flatter because he wears a binder). However, even though his body hasn’t transitioned at the point Step 4 happens, no one treats him as anything other than the guy he is. Having a trans character who’s identity is supported/respected from the start is what we’re going for in this case. But what we’re doing with Terry isn’t the only trans content we’ve ever had/ever will have in the future.

I imagine it’d be pretty opposite experiences, haha. Bae would initially think Baxter is pushy and thoughtless, but would quickly realize, oh, he’s instead a soft, considerate boy. Very cute. Baxter would first be struck with the impression that Bae is charming and gentlemanly, but then would realize that, no, he’s a sarcastic asshole. And I’m afraid we can’t reveal the personalities for the next game yet.

Whumptober 2021: Day 25

HIDE & SEEK

Poppy Playtime OC Fanfic | escape | flight | hiding

Summary: After quitting his nightly janitor job at Playtime Co., Ed takes a break to rest and recuperate. One night at 3 am, he gets a distressing call that sends shivers down his spine..

Note: I wrote this out of the sheer terror I had after watching multiple playthroughs of Poppy Playtime. I have never, EVER felt so scared of a toy in my life than Huggy-fuckin-Wuggy. Also, this is the first time I’m doing a sort of chase scene through the telephone so forgive mt for the poor execution (spoilers lol).

Now is not yet your time.

Get up.

I can hear the sounds of screams ringing in my ears, the eyes of a thousand toys that I swear are following my direction every time I look up from sweeping and scrubbing the floors. Each night, I can sense those eyes, those little beads of white on black that seem to want to break out of their manufactured boxes.

The worst I’ve ever seen of it were the employees that seemed to never have come back after their shift. The boss says that it was because they weren’t able to comply with factory standards, but I know that’s not true. Something’s being hidden here, but I don’t know what.

A week after I resigned, I kept some close contact with my buddy Eric. He’d always be on the shift after me, and everytime we switched places, I could see him looking terrified. I even tried talking to him about it, but all the time, he says that it’s nothing. It’s just our nerves getting the better of us.

Bullshit.

Sometimes, in the middle of the night, I would wake up, screaming, but I don’t know what it is I saw. Something.. Like teeth. Rows and rows of razor-sharp teeth, threatening to swallow me whole.

I think I need to see the doctor. But.. I don’t know what to tell ‘em. That I’m crazy? That some kid’s factory’s messing with my brain? I don’t know. Maybe I’m just overthinking this. I never picked up a rosary before but I think I’m gonna try doing what my mom used to do. To calm me, maybe fall asleep.

I’m suddenly awake when my home phone rings.No one ever calls me anymore, but that’s my fault. I needed some time for myself. I wonder who it is. I stretch my limbs, bleary-eyed, looking at the digital clock on my bedside before getting chills down my spine.

3 am.

Holy shit.

The phone kept ringing, and suddenly I felt the urge to ignore it. I don’t want anything to do with this anymore, if it’s from the factory. Fuck that.

I go back to bed, trying to shake away my fear. I count sheep, wanting to forget. But the damned phone keeps ringing. It’s cold, but I’m sweating in fear. I don’t want anything happening. If I keep ignoring it, it’ll surely end the call, yeah?

But it doesn’t. The sound of the phone drones in my ear, and maybe after a minute, it still keeps on going. Fuck. If I don’t open it, I might wake the neighbors. I put my hands over my face and sigh, turning towards my bedside. 3:03 am. Fuck. Witching Hour. Fuck..

“Damn it, damn it, damn it..!” I reach out and put the receiver up to my ear.

“H-Hello?”

There’s no response.

“Hello, who is this?”

Still no response. But I heard some sort of thump? Like someone banging on metal. It makes me think about the many vents and conveyor belts of the factory, where the multitude of plastic limbs and eyes would accompany my once-nightly cleanups. Fuck. I should stop thinking about them.

“Hey, it’s 3 am and I would love to get back to sleep. Uh.. who’s calling me?”

This time, I could hear some static, and someone.. Breathing? I don’t know. Maybe it’s just my brain messing with me again. But I know something’s not right. Something’s happening, and I can feel the fight-or-flight response. I gotta hang up.

“Hey, is this a prank call? I’m hanging up. I don’t have time to play around.”

“HELP. HELP.”

Suddenly there’s a voice on the other end, somehow disembodied and hollow? Like speaking through a can. My hands are sweating. I think I know who’s talking.

“E-Eric? Eric, man, is that you?”

Another thump, and I involuntarily shake. I sit upright, hyperfocusing on the call. I could hear footsteps (were they footsteps?) at the other end, and erratic breathing.

“Ed! ..fuck..!” there’s a sound of banging on the other end, and some blood curdling scream from the distance. I’m panicking. I think I’m panicking. “Ed.. listen! You’ve got to fucking help me! Th-the--” there’s another scream, and this time it’s nearer. I curl my toes, and close my eyes, trying to control my breathing. There’s a squeak of some hinge and a small thud.

“Eric, what the fuck is happening? Are you in the factory?!”

“Yeah!” He breathes erratically, but keeps his voice down.. “Dude, look, I don’t have much time, I’m hiding in one of the employee locker rooms, you know? The one on the second floor?”

“Yeah, yeah, I hear you. Listen, what the fuck is happening there?”

“Can you come pick me up, man? The fucking.. The fucking DOLL, it came alive! Oh god--”

There’s a thump on the other end, and skittering. There’s a moment of silence and Eric whimpers on the other end. I think he’s still in the locker, trying to not make a sound. I’m taking my wallet, trying to look at the floorplan I still have of the factory, then I take a pen from my drawer. I look at the second page and I nod to myself. I think I know where Eric is.

“Listen, Eric. I’m a state away from you. Even if I drive now, I won’t be able to make it there in two days. Buddy. I’m sorry, okay?”

Eric whimpers on the other end, and I swear I can imagine him gritting his teeth as there’s a sudden loud THUMP, and I’m standing at the edge of my bed. I’m shining a light on the map and I’m drawing a line, maybe the nearest exit possible. I think I know where he can go.

“Eric, my man, you there?”

“Y-yeah, I’m here. It’s uh..” there’s a slight pause, “it’s all quiet now. I think. I’m looking through the slits in the locker.. Oh fuck… why the fuck is there blood--”

He’s gurgling and I think he’s going to throw up.

“Buddy hold it in!”

Too late. I heard the sound of a heave and liquid pouring down.

“Man, look. Calm down. You’re not going to achieve anything from hiding there. Whatever’s pursuing you--” I look at the map again, “it can’t reach you if you get out of there as fast as you can. Alright? I know the way. I still have my map.”

“O-okay. Yeah.. you’re right..”

“You’re on the second floor. Which means you’re probably on the east wing, where the lockers are. There’s a fire exit on your right, if I’m right, that should be unlocked. You got that?”

“Y-yeah.. Yeah..”

“Alright. Go. Now. Be my eyes and ears, I’ll guide you.”

What I assume is the locker door opens, and I can hear Eric whimper on the other end. There’s a little bit of static and I can hear his footsteps. There’s a slight struggle as he tries to open what I assume is the fire exit door and it does, swinging open, really loudly. I cringed, my teeth gritting. Fuck.

“The..the coast is clear.. Um… fuck.. Okay.. uh down?”

“You’re in the fire exit now? Good. Okay, go up one flight of stairs. There’s supposed to be a door there that leads straight to the cafeteria. Then I think you already know from there yeah?”

I hear a flight of stairs and a piercing scream and my heart thumps in my chest. “Eric what the fuck was that--”

“IT’S BEHIND ME IT’S BEHIND ME IT’S CRAWLING UP FROM THE STAIRS OH GOD OH FUCKKKK--”

“RUN! JUST RUN, ERIC!”

I hear Eric’s erratic breathing and his footsteps as he ascends the hallway, and I can hear small pitter-patter of footsteps behind him, and I’m sweating, trying to hold on to the phone and keeping my wits with me. Oh god. I’m in my house, I’m okay. But Eric isn’t. And I’m fearing for his life. His life depends on me. I have to save him. I have to--

I hear a door swinging open and I hear Eric dashing through an open area, I think it’s the cafeteria. I can hear the squeaks of his rubber shoes on the polished floor and all around him are the sounds, distorted sounds of the Playtime Co. anthem on speaker and it makes me want to hang up, but I won’t. I have to help him escape.

“Eric. Don’t look back. Just keep running. Once you get out of the cafeteria, make a quick right. You’ll be at the factory entrance. Just a bit more okay? Eric?”

“Yeah! Oh god, oh fuck, Ed it’s behind me, and it’s MASSIVE--”

“I TOLD YOU NOT TO LOOK BACK! Just keep running, yeah? There should be a double door--”

“ED! OH FUCK, THE HANDS!”

There’s a chill down my spine. The Grabpack. “Eric, you don’t have your Grabpack with you?”

“OH GOD, OH GOD, OH F--”

I hear him screaming as he thumps on something repeatedly, and lastly, the swinging of the big double doors. It’s done. He’s out of there.

“Just keep running, keep running, Eric, turn right!”

“I AM!”

I continue to hear the squeak of his shoes and another thump, followed by another. Eric lets out a moan, I think it’s him. “Eric, bud, what happened?”

There’s sounds of something muffled on the line, intelligible. I don’t know what the fuck that is. I’m gripping the phone tight that my nails are already digging in my palms. “Eric, talk to me!”

There’s only silence. Then static. Then, the line drops. My heart wants to burst out of my chest. I try to dial the number, Eric’s number. I think that’s his phone. Just seven numbers. This is fine, this is fine, but Eric isn’t. I have to call. I hear the dial, but there’s no response. I’m sweating, pacing my room. What doll? What’s chasing after him, could it be..

Then, suddenly, my phone rings. I pick it up and answer even before the first chime ends. “Eric, bud, you ok?”

There’s only static on the other end.

“Eric?”

“Hey, Ed.” I let out an audible sigh of relief, but at the same time, I kept my guard up. The jig’s probably not over yet. “Are you out already?”

There’s silence on the other end. I can barely hear anything. It’s as if it’s muffled. But I’m sure that’s Eric’s voice. “Yeah, I’m free now.”

Free? What..

“You mean, you got out of the factory already? Nothing’s chasing you anymore?”

More silence. My stomach sinks. Something’s wrong.

“Yeah. I’m fine now. It’s all good now.” I think I can hear a smile in his voice.. What..?

“Are you sure, Eric? You don’t.. You don’t sound like what you sounded a while ago.”

“I said, Ed, I’m okay now. You don’t have to worry about me.”

“You saying that makes me worry even more! Eric, if you need it, I can pick you up--”

“It’s okay now. You don’t have to worry about me anymore. Just.. forget it, okay? It was just my mind playing tricks on me again.”

I can feel something’s wrong. I don’t know. I have to start packing.

“Hey, I’m getting over there as early as I can. By tomorrow morning, I’ll be there. Go to the police, report whatever’s happening there, and stay there okay? I can help you. Drive you to your house if you need to.”

“Everything’s been taken care of, Ed. It’s alright now.”

“It doesn’t seem to be that way.”

There’s some laugh, and a rumble on the other end, but it seemed like more of a growl. I stop in my tracks.

“One way or another, everything will turn out for the best, Ed. Goodbye now.”

The line ends, and my phone doesn’t ring for the rest of the night.

It’s morning now.

I’m in my car and I’m driving across the country to head to Playtime Co. the fastest way possible. Eric, or if that even WAS him, scared me. That last line tells me that somehow, something’s happening. And if no one does anything, maybe there would be consequences.

I stop at the front of Playtime Co., the largest factory this side of the state.

I get out of my car, take my supplies, trusty map, and the Grabpack. Somehow they let me have this. A keepsake of fun times, I guess?

I head inside, like going into the belly of the beast.

Since you guys enjoyed my male cyberpunk romance options post, I decided to finally get to work on the female/non-binary ones. So first of all, let's start it off with our main girls, Judy and Panam. I plan on doing a part 2 and currently working on the part 2 for the boys.

1st. Judy Alvarez:

I enjoyed her romance quite a bit and love her as a character and I believe since we don't have any lore for her or anything that convinces me otherwise that she should be bi. I think she should be strictly for female/non-binary V with and more feminine features.

I feel that she should've had her own ending and not one that ties into Panam's, one where you decide to leave Night City with her, and or I would've enjoyed it if you could've taken any one of your serious romance options out of town. I feel that an ending with V deciding to call up Judy and there is an option to pack up your things, at least your weapons and clothes and just leave to the next city over. It ends up with you helping Judy and packing up your things in her van, Judy decides to drive and asks you where do you plan on going, you can choose from 3 options.

The first choice you can say anywhere and that you don't care, you just want to live your final moments with Judy. The second choice should be something like Atlanta to see your family and or to wherever Judy used to live in the past. The last choice you can choose to give Judy some money to leave town and say to wait for her in the next town over so it can lead to you choosing whether to go with Hanako's plans or Johnny's. I can imagine the last ending resulting in Judy being seen, arguing years later to keep your stuff when she's selling some of her old things. She ends up fighting to keep the necklace that V is always seen with and she wears it, it ends with Judy entering her van and promising to never forget you.

Also, I believe that she and most of the serious romance options should have at least one quest where you can go on a date with your partner, I believe hers would be you helping her with Clouds. Though it's not much of a date, you insisted on helping her fix things, and you guys spend most of your time trying to protect Clouds from The Tyger Claws who end up trying to attack again. It ends with Judy losing hope in Clouds, almost wanting to give up on the place but you can choose to convince her to keep fighting for Clouds. Or to give up and just sell the place and let all the hard work you guys did go to waste. If you choose the first, it leads to Judy promising to come up with more things and saying how she'll make some calls to some more people. The first choice ends with you both making out and you falling asleep at her place after she orders pizza and watches a few movies with you.

The second choice ends with Judy being hopeless and asking to be alone for the moment, ruining the date almost and putting a small dent in your relationship.

I believe that Judy is pretty well developed for a love interest and as a character, she stands strong on her own and is an interesting character who fits well with V. I enjoy their relationship as I do with most of the relationships which are very adult in the way that V tries not to rush things and doesn't promise their love interests the world. The love interests have their own lives and don't act like a bunch of teens or young adults, trying to make drama out of something small. They respect V, they add more to V and give V another reason to keep fighting, another reason to want to live, to get the damned chip out of their head.

Also, I want more Johnny and Judy interactions in the sense that I want to hear more of his thoughts on Judy and hear how he feels about V and them being together. He doesn't seem to hate her and maybe even would like to see that if you romanced Judy and did the Temperance ending he tells only her or your romance interest that you're gone. Well, he does it vaguely or sends your romance interest an anonymous email, vaguely stating that V is gone and that they disappeared/passed. Judy I feel would react in confusion as well as emotionally, she's nearly crying in the voicemails and is talking about the email or voicemail Johnny sent and is asking where are you.

2nd. Panam Palmer:

I like Panam Palmer as a character and I feel that her quests do explore a lot of the nomad lifestyle, her quests explore more about the people of the nomad lifestyle. I feel that she should've been bi and I was hoping that she and Evelyn were the 2 bi options because literally in my first playthrough was worried I was gonna romance her. Cause she was flirting a lot from what I saw and thought that you'd be able to romance her during the sandstorm. I feel she should've been bisexual or pansexual along with Evelyn.

I feel she should be able to be easily romanced by male/non-binary V with a more masculine appearance and she should've been a little harder to get with by a female V/non-binary V with a more feminine appearance. Also, is it just me but I wasn't a big fan of her sex scene, imo I feel they should've changed the sex scene to possibly happening during the sandstorm or after V confesses to dying. Or even them making out in the big ass tower before being interrupted by Saul. Also, wouldn't have minded learning more about Panam in terms of hobbies, like I would've loved it if she was a singer or was a decent guitar player. I also would've enjoyed scenes where we actually just chill with the Aldecaldos and like chill by the campfire or help out with some of their everyday problems, etc.

I like her but I didn't feel a seriously deep connection to her like I did with the other 3 romance options, I wish they added more depth to her and more of a serious tone to her. I do like the more serious tone towards the end and how her path explored being a nomad, what it means to have family, etc.

I do wish everyone in terms of romances had as many quests, depth, and just effort put into but her path is decent just not my favorite personally.

I feel she and Evelyn should've been the main bi options, she should've been easier to get with a male' V but also should've been able to date fem' V. The paths should've been similar or even show Panam having fem' V be her first-ever official girlfriend, show a new side to Panam with fem' V. I would've seeing Panam being a little shy and or a bit reserved around fem' V, I would've enjoyed seeing her hesitate a bit first before having her first kiss with V. I would've also enjoyed love scenes for bi characters being kinda different in the sense that I would've enjoyed Panam and male' V's love scenes to be raw, a bit filthy, and Panam is not holding back. Maybe it's just me but I disliked her love scene with all the green and all the switching really turned me off tbh. I would imagine Panam and fem' V have a love scene either being in a tent or during a quest in which fem' V and her share some beers, look at the stars, and relax.

Her love scene with fem' V would show a more gentle, natural, and aesthetic kind of scene, a lot of kissing, Panam going down on you, you kissing/nibbling on Panam's ear whilst you slip your hand in between her legs. It ending with Panam's arm wrapped around you and you wake up to the morning sun above you.

I feel another quest she should've had was you and V (Doesn't matter what gender) could've gone out on a road trip all around the badlands and you guys just have a good time together. Blasting music and making fun of each other's music, drinking beers, turning up to some music, and you both kissing in the backseat much to Johnny's annoyance.

3rd. Evelyn Parker:

So I feel she should've been the main female bi romance option and she should've held a much bigger part in the story, becoming either a replacement for T-Bug if she dies in your playthrough or just finding out about her. She at first could be bitter towards you considering how you treated her in the beginning or she can come off as distant and wanting nothing to do with you at first. She wants to run from you and talks about leaving Night City with Judy, how she needs a fresh start. Similar to Judy, she stays because of how close she's grown to you, because of how it's hard to leave you to your inevitable death all alone, she finds it hard to leave you after I'd say her first 3 or 4 quests. She'd be one of the mysterious and harder romances to get, considering that at first, V thinks Evelyn wants someone who can help her and help her solve her problems. But in reality, she wants someone who will have her back, someone she can trust, someone who will make her life worth living.

I'd imagine she'd have about 3 to 5 quests and 2 of those quests lead to a romance, her quests would be about finding The Woodsman, getting rid of him, taking care of T-Bug, etc. I'd imagine that her romance starts in her second or third quest, she doesn't quite trust you yet but she's finding herself falling you all the time.

One of her missions would probably be her either taking you out to a really expensive bar or something where it ends with a love scene that progresses to the car if you're male' V. But if you're fem' V I feel the love scene would progress to her apartment, Evelyn pegs me as being kinda kinky but nothing like Meredith who broke the kinky scale. I'd imagine in the love scene with fem' V she'd be choking you a little bit, caressing your face and she's in control this time, you eat her out, she fingers you right before you come before fucking you from behind with her fingers. She's also making you suck on her fingers. It ends with fem' V waking up to Evelyn rushing out of the door, saying she has business to take care of and that she enjoyed last night and would later text you asking to meet up at her apartment. She asks if you want something serious and you can choose what you want your relationship to be, if you choose something more serious she ends up giving you a key to her apartment.

Male' V love scene would have Evelyn being more submissive but more like a power bottom, she gives male V' oral which leads to you fucking in the backseat of her car in the missionary position. Leads to her riding you until you both come. She'd be pulling on your hair, she'd grab your hand and make you choke her for a little bit, she's kissing on your neck a lot, etc. It'd end with Evelyn lighting up a cigarette and asking if you'd take her home, you take her home and it ends with you kissing her before she goes home and asks you to call her in the morning. This leads to her calling to ask you if you want something more serious or something less than serious with the first option ending up with you getting a key to her apartment.

She'd play a decent role in the game, actively working towards getting the chip out and getting things back to the way they were. I imagine in one of the endings specifically The Temperance ending, she'd be one of the few to know that Johnny took over and it ends with her begging Johnny to give her a response, to tell her something. I'd imagine Johnny is fine with her at least after a while but at first, he's not gonna be too nice to her.

4th. Meredith Stout:

She could remain simply a one-night stand but what I would enjoy is being able to initiate either phone sex or be able to meet up with these one night stands again. But she also could have a few more quests, maybe some that revolve around her missions she can't get done without you and it leads to V wanting to romance her and wanting something more serious. Call me a bitch but I personally can't see Meredith wanting or feeling as though a relationship would be right at this point in her life. To me, Meredith from our first interactions come off as kinda manipulative and a bit unhinged when things don't go her way, maybe V helps kick her entitled and stuck up habits. Makes her realize how she sees people who don't have as much as beneath her is a terrible way to see people and a terrible way to think.

Or you could just screw around with her and help each other with whatever missions and shit like I'd imagine that she'd be apart of the endings or plays a similar role to Alt being able to help you take down Arasaka. I'd imagine if you romanced her or made a big impact on her she'll agree but if you are just fuck-buddies and or haven't completed all of her quests then she'll hang up or say she can't. If you do she manages to get militech and what not to help as reinforcements to help you in some way so you can get to Mikoshi in one piece or at least help you most of the way. But the endings still are the same but in the credits, she talks about how she hasn't heard from you and how she just wants to know if she's alive. She says she respects if you just want to be gone off the face of the earth.

Sorry Meredith stans but I can't see her being too serious with you if so then she's gonna spend time bettering herself before she delves into a serious relationship with you. But I'd imagine if you did have an impact on her, in The Sun ending/Path Of Glory she'll be in your bed and she'll be a bit kinder towards you and you'll have relationship problems.

5th. Misty Olszewski:

I love her as a character and how sweet she is, I feel that she could've had a deeper relationship with V, and them becoming best friends could've also been a good thing. She gives me pansexual vibes very much and will be willing to date all V's just treat her with love and respect. But I do feel that if you were able to romance her, the relationship would happen almost like a one night stand or something, maybe you both get drunk and sex happens. I feel Misty would feel as though she's betraying Jackie and being with you, which makes things complicated and weird. If anything I feel she'd be included in DLC as a more serious romance option, any DLC where Misty has time to process Jackie's death and has time to grieve. Any DLC that is later on or caters to an ending such as maybe the Nomad ending or The Sun ending perhaps.

First of all, she'd have like 3 or 4 quests where you just try and grieve with each other and or just be good friends, I'd imagine that one of the quests would be you suggesting teaching her how to swim or something because something tells me she wouldn't know how. Misty comes off as shy but open to try it if you give her enough encouragement and make her feel like things will be fine. You both go hang out somewhere out of town and end up going swimming and you teach her, but maybe something happens similar to Judy with the relic where you end up fainting or passing out. She ends up saving you miraculously and expresses how she feels like she's losing you and how she feels you're withering away from Night City. It results in Misty taking you back to your apartment, insisting you rest and try and get some sleep but you can insist on her staying and if she does, she ends up sleeping in bed with you and a kiss happens. She ends up pushing you away or the night after and saying how it's not fair to Jackie. How she enjoys your company but things feel better with you guys being friends, insisting that it was wrong to have a romantic relationship just sometime after Jackie passed.

I imagine things with her can end up being weird and awkward for a little bit afterward but she remains your good friend and she genuinely worries for you a lot, she won't play too big of a role in the game. But would play a similar role to Judy, I'd imagine that if you didn't romance anyone but her or if you romanced Judy, you'd be able to pick her to take along with you in the Nomad ending.

She'd be apart of the small list of romance options/good friends you'd be able to take with you in the Nomad ending.

She's really sweet though and you learn about her insecurities, learn more about her relationship with Jackie and how he planned on teaching her how to swim, he planned on getting her a beagle or finding her a dog. You learn a lot about Jackie and her and she's a really good friend of yours who wants to take things slow and make sure things are great when you start a more serious romantic relationship.

6th. Claire Russell:

She should've been a romance option or at the very least a ons, she might be straight but I'd say she gives off strong bi or pansexual vibes, she'd date any kind of V regardless of gender. I'd imagine that sometime after you murder the corpo cunt who killed her husband, she calls you up asking for a drink or asks you to meet up at her garage. She expresses how she thought she'd feel better after hearing he's dead but she feels the same, you both get a bit drunk and talk about past relationships and struggles. You both end up dancing to some music and it leads to you both slow dancing and if you play your cards right then you'll end up being able to kiss her. Claire and you both end up on the couch in her living room and you both have a grand time, I imagine she kisses you a lot, gives you plenty of praise in between sex, and she gave you some oral.

Afterward, I can imagine she wants to be with you but she needs a little more time to just enjoy being alone, dealing with Dean's death and such. Also, she talks about cars a lot and you can find her at her garage fixing up Beast and you can talk with her about fixing up your cars and anything like that. She doesn't play a huge role but she'll call you and you can call her before the final mission, similar to River you don't tell her what's up and you tell her how you'll always be her biggest fan. How you want her to keep racing and keep living her best life, she gets a little suspicious but can't put her finger on why you're saying all this. In the credits, she keeps saying how you won't answer and how she just wants to get a text or something, saying how you disappeared and how she really wants to see you.

Also, she gives me very much into working out and homegirl stopped working out a while ago because she had little to no motivation to do so. But when meeting you, she'll text you pics of her at the gym, her muscles, and saying how she has better muscles so she can cuddle you better.

I'd imagine that she'd be apart of The Sun ending and you both have a decent relationship with her, she expresses how she'd follow you anywhere and to let her know if things are wrong.

In the suicide ending, just as she's calling to find out what happened to you she gets a knock at the door and drops the phone, you can hear Misty and Viktor tell Claire of your death and it ends with her breaking down in tears before she pitches her phone at the wall.

Fairies and Fae Spirits

Started watching PH playthroughs bc I got tired of not being in the know tbh. Controversial opinion but I love the gross 3ds graphics and the repetitive nature of the Temple of the Ocean King. Been a little while since I’ve written one of these so hope you like it. I just got back into school again and it’s my sister’s birthday so I only had enough time to post my drafts.

Ask box is always open for any questions or specific requests for more headcannons. These headcannons are exactly what it says on the tin so consider it my AU of the LoZ franchise. This is not a 100% accurate telling of the series and is full of theories and original ideas!

The fae have inhabited Hyrule since the early years of its existence. First created by the Golden Goddesses as another small species of magical creatures, they were few and far between. Each fae was made from the light and magic stolen from dying stars dotted around the skies and were given the role of healers for the other tribes with their naturally occurring magic. These creatures were often mischievous and quite intelligent, aided more by their ability to turn invisible or exude a bright light when experiencing a strong emotion. Rumours came from the three tribes that fae could be dangerous if not kept in check, and so were tamed and calmed by offering sweet foods or scents.

In the times of Skyloftians, the fae had become much smaller and developed wings as mechanisms to flee from predators during the War of Gods, and became much more commonly known as fairies. They imitated a humanoid appearance after a few hundred years and used the glow from their wings for survival, identification, and to lead others to safety. Another form of the fae took their stead much later, being the more Hylian-like Kokiri, who later became Koroks, and adopted their close relatives as companions in life.

Many fairies banded together under a kind of leadership depending on the region they resided, though seemed to have very positive ideas of one another. They were known to travel alone or in small groups of two or three.

A fairy is always produced through supernatural means. In the Era of the Sky, this meant through the Golden Goddesses creation or Hylia’s intervention for those who knew of the sacred symbol. Later into Hyrule’s establishment, a fairy could be produced through the flapping of a Great Fairy’s wings collecting its magical dust together into a new fairy.

Upon the first Great Fairies’ (at that point known as Great Mothers) appearances in the world, the fairies seemed to fall into their leadership quite easily due to their preestablished groupings. They were known as the daughters of the Great Fairies and fell into one of three social roles; tending to their Great Fairy, protecting their place of worship, or adventuring to find new territory and threats. Since all fairies possess healing magic and are otherwise immortal, they only die once their magic runs out. This often happens they heal a traveller (larger creatures included since the size of the person dictates how much magic is used). Because all fairies have an instinctual urge to heal the injured, the Great Fairies feel incredibly protective towards their daughters. As an alternative, the fairies are encouraged to lead the traveller to the Great Fairy instead.

Despite this, fairies are often encouraged to wander the world (depending on their role) and have their own independence, meaning that they often meet other races and become companions if they so choose. This is historically seen with Hylians and fae spirits such as Kokiri/Koroks, who are able to hear the fae language. Hylians have the ability to hear it due to their pointed ears being able to hear languages of immortals. The language sounds like the jingling of bells to those unable to understand. Over the years, Hylians have been able to only hear parts of the language due to the races’ very limited interaction, and by the time of the Era of the Wild, only a few select people deemed close to the gods have been able to understand even the smallest details of the language.

Friendship Anniversary (Red x Reader)

Requested: Nope, just thought I should give you all a taste of my writing first.

Reader Pronouns: She/her

Word Count: 1,390

A/N: So, I've recently started a new playthrough of Pokémon Blue, and I just love Red's character, so here we go. :)

C/W: Selective mutism, mainly fluff

Context: Set about six years after Pokémon Red and Blue. Red has been up on Mt. Silver for about three years, only coming down when necessary, or when (Y/N) has convinced him to fly down to her house with her (very rare). She visits him up there regularly to check on him and his team, and bring supplies. He's still got his selective mutism, but she learned sign language to communicate with him.

Six years. It had been six years since (Y/N) had left her home in Pallet Town to set off on her Pokémon journey. Although it was so long ago, sometimes it felt like only yesterday.

She was never as competitive as her childhood friends, Red and Blue, but she did love Pokémon just as much as them. It was a bit disappointing when her dream ended at the Pokémon League, but she was happy for Red, and they moved on quickly.

Red. He hasn't been the same for a while. It's hard to pinpoint when exactly it started, but as time went on throughout their journey, he started talking less and less, before suddenly, he just never spoke again. (Y/N) never found out why, but then again, she didn't want to be rude by asking. Instead, she poured all her efforts into learning sign language, desperate to show support for her best friend in any way she could. It was sometimes weird not physically talking like they used to as young children, but they never needed to talk constantly before anyway. They always had other ways to communicate, so maybe it wasn't too different after all.

For Blue on the other hand, it drove him mad. He never understood how (Y/N) and Red could spend hours just spending time together without uttering a single word. For him, it was a lot harder to understand Red's sudden silence. (Y/N) could tell Blue was trying his best to be there for support, but it was draining him as well. He wanted to support his friend, but didn't know how. Blue was never good at showing real emotions anyway. And now, he's so busy as a gym leader, he barely ever gets the time to go up to Mt. Silver. He's just grateful for (Y/N) for sticking around.

They're all 17 now, and today marks the day when Red and (Y/N) first became friends. Twelve years, it's been. Time really does just fly by.

Humming a soft tune, (Y/N) walks around her house, making sure everything is in place for her to leave. Considering it's their friend anniversary, she was planning on going up to Mt. Silver to visit Red. She even bought him a little present. It wasn't anything big; just a book on Pokémon. She didn’t feel the need to get anything too big, because she knows it just makes him feel bad. But she wanted to get him something, and anything on Pokémon, he'd definitely appreciate.

She looks down in confusion as her pokéball shakes, her trusty Jolteon popping out on his own accord. Shaking her head, she gives him an amused smile.

"What's wrong Jolteon? I only just sent you back. It won't be for long; we're just going to fly to Mt. Silver."

Her Jolteon is very similar to Red's Pikachu, in that he hates his pokéball. Although he does still reluctantly go into his ball when told, (Y/N) prefers to keep him out. She doesn't like seeing him upset, but sometimes it's necessary for him to be in his ball. Like to keep him safe when they're flying.

Jolteon shakes his head, his fur pricking up like static as he runs to the door. Running after him, she hesitates before opening the door, curious as to what he can sense.

"Pika! Pikachu!"

'Hello.'

"Red, Pikachu, what are you guys doing here?" (Y/N) asks, clearly in shock as Pikachu jumps off Red's shoulder and runs inside to play with Jolteon.

'It's our friend anniversary. We wanted to see you.' Red signs, smiling softly.

(Y/N)'s face lights up at the sight of that smile; the one he only ever shows around her or his Pokémon. Stepping to the side to let him in, she closes the door, freezing as she suddenly remembers his present.

Grabbing the messily wrapped present, she hands it to him, her face flushed in embarrassment.

'I got you something. Sorry about the wrapping.' She apologises, averting her gaze awkwardly, before leading him to the couch to unwrap it.

There was something almost terrifying about watching him open it. She knew there was nothing to worry about; she knew him better than anyone, after all. Except Pickachu, obviously. She knows what Red likes, and she knows he'll appreciate the gift, but for some reason, she can't help being nervous.

Feeling his hand being placed on top of her own, (Y/N) jumps slightly, looking up to meet Red's warm gaze. Looking into those perfect ruby eyes of his let loose a swarm of Butterfree in her stomach. Her mouth goes dry, so she just smiles back at him, understanding his gesture of thanks.

Confused when he suddenly grabs his bag, her eyes widen as he pulls out a perfectly wrapped present, handing it to her.

"Red... You shouldn't have."

He just shakes his head, gesturing for the girl to open it. Carefully unwrapping it, hands shaking slightly, she furrows her eyebrows to see a black box. Lifting the lid, her jaw drops to see the beautiful ruby necklace she'd been wanting for months. Tears welling in her eyes, she looks at him in confusion. She never mentioned it to him.

"How did you...?"

Red's cheeks heat up slightly as he signs a response, 'I may have asked Blue if there was anything you had your eye on.'

Gently taking it from her, he clasps it around her neck, grinning happily at the beauty in front of him. (Y/N) shakes her head in disbelief, a small chuckle escaping her lips.

'You really went above and beyond,' She signs to him, gently kissing him on the cheek before getting up, 'tell you what, how about we just have a movie day?'

Hours had passed, and Red and (Y/N) were still snuggled up on the sofa-bed watching movies, a blanket draped over them. They had stopped earlier for dinner, and Pikachu and Jolteon had already fallen asleep, so there was nothing stopping them from watching movies for the rest of the night.

Except, unfortunately, the tiredness slowly creeping its way in to (Y/N)'s body. Her eyes keep drifting shut, until Red grabs the remote, switching the TV off.

"What did you do that for?" (Y/N) asks, glancing up at him with half-shut eyes, earning a soft glare in response. She knew that look all too well. "But I don't want to sleep yet."

Red places a finger against her lip, silencing her and shaking his head. Planting a soft kiss on her temple, he pulls her closer; a sign that he's not taking no for an answer.

Sighing, (Y/N) moves closer to him, reluctantly closing her eyes. She knows how stubborn he can get, and just decided to leave it at that.

She had almost drifted off to sleep, when she felt a soft pair of lips against her head, and a quiet, hoarse voice break the silence.

"I love you."

(Y/N) freezes, slowly opening her tired eyes to look up at him. Those were the first words he had spoken in five and a half years.

"Red, did you just-?"

"I love you," he whispers again. It looked like a bit of a struggle to speak, but his face showed nothing but pure love and adoration for the girl in his arms.

(Y/N) leans up, pressing her lips against his in a gentle kiss. They were both still very tired, so it didn't last long, but they still had enough time to pour show the love they had held back for years. In those few short moments, it was like a spark rushing through their bodies. All those years of loving each other, all that time they held back, finally expressing their feelings.

When they pull away, (Y/N) buries her head in Red's chest, too embarrassed and tired to actually look him in the eyes. But before she falls asleep, Red does hear her mumble a response.

"I love you too."

Those were the last words she spoke that night. As Red gazes down at the girl sleeping peacefully in his arms; the one he loves with all his heart; he can't help but think about how lucky he is to have her in his life.

(Y/N) is the best thing that ever happened to him, and now they can finally celebrate the start of a beautiful relationship.

Introducing My Fallout OCs!

OMGGGG y’all, I can’t. I’ve apparently reached over 200 of you fantabulous followers and I am so ecstatic! I honestly don’t even know if this is considered a milestone or anything, but I was super psyched, so I'm doing something about it, dang it!

Also, just a heads up on me right now, I just started school again, so my posting miiiiiiight be a bit sporadic every now and then, but I’m determined to still try and get a few posts out every week, so we’ll see how that goes. I’m also pretty backed up on requests at the moment, I’m still accepting them for the time being, but I may turn off my asks if I’m finding difficulty getting to everyone.

Anyways, I know I don’t ever really talk about my Fallout Original Characters, but I’m thinking of doing some stuff with them in the future, so this seemed like a good place to start 🤷‍♀️ So, here they are! One from each of the 3 FO games I write for. If ya’ll want to send in any asks about these folks, please feel free to do so!

My Lone Wanderer: Hope

Appearance:

- Basically like a black-haired, blue eyed Sarah Connor (y’know, from Terminator), she’s got a small frame, but is an absolute beast. She loves to change up her hair, but prefers the iron maiden, unladylike, or rude ridge styles and will often dye it bright-ass colors, cuz why not? She’s pretty pale considering the vault background and the fact she is constantly wearing full body combat or leather armor when she’s outdoors, and she has a few piercings she actually got before leaving the vault.

What’s in a Name:

- “Hope” was the name that her parents chose for her before she was even born, but she can’t stand it, she just tends to see it as a cruel joke in the world they live in. She instead goes by Effie (short for Ephialtes, cuz she’s edgy and dramatic and read too much in school). Hope tends not to tell anyone her real name, and if she does, you’d best not use it to refer to her, unless you like being enslaved. The only one who could ever get away with it is Jericho and a select few people from the vault (Stanley, and her father, but she’s still not happy about it.)

Sexuality:

- Pansexual

Main Companion:

- Jericho

Relationship(s):

- She has a sort of “friends with benefits” type situation going with Jericho, but it ends up getting... complicated, and turning somewhat into a relationship.

Bestie(s):

- Even though he’s her boss, Hope likes to hang out with Eulogy when she’s in Paradise Falls. When she was in the vault, she spent a lot of time with Stanley, and was pretty close with Butch, Wally, and Paul as well.

Fam Dam:

- James and Catherine are/were her parents (obviously). But she also considered Stanley to be a sort of uncle to her.

Karma:

- Oh, the worst. She’s honestly awful. She steals, she murders, she enslaves, she blows up settlements, all of it. She’s got a lot of things she needs to work out...

Faction of Choice:

- The Slavers of Paradise Falls. (Yeah... she sucks.) The Brotherhood and the Outcasts just never really struck her fancy, and her and Jericho found it was easy to make bank with the slavers. Hope also is a friend to Allistair Tenpenny and Mister Burke... and not the folks in Megaton. Cuz they’re all not really alive.

Vault Occupation:

- Engineer

Fun Fact!:

- Hope is really bad with empathy, and absolutely needs to experience something for herself before she can make any sort of judgement on it, or other people who have had that same experience.

My Courier Six: Sage

Appearence:

- Sage doesn’t really consider herself very “flashy” in comparison to most folks in NV. She’s got shoulder length brown hair (blast back or clean cut style) and brownish-hazel eyes. She’s pretty damn tan (Mojave, you know) and doesn’t have many scars, but the ones on the right side of her forehead clearly indicate where she was shot in the head (thanks, Benny). She and Boone tend to twin quite a bit, with matching red berets and sunglasses.

What’s in a Name:

- The poor girl has no clue what her real name was before she was shot, but she saw a box of labelled herbs in Doc Mitchell’s house when she was recovering from her headwounds and decided she liked the name “Sage.”

Sexuality:

- Bisexual

Main Companion:

- Craig Boone

Relationship:

- Also Boone :) it’s a pretty darn slow-burn romance with lots of bumps along the way, but their love always seems to prevail. (Gross and sappy, I know)

Bestie(s):

- Arcade, plus Rex, and ED-E. Also Victor and Doc Mitchell.

Fam Dam:

- No clue, unfortunately. She eventually tries to find out something about her past and her family, if she has any, but she’s got a few things to deal with first (hint, one rhymes with pleaser’s fleegion).

Karma:

- She may make mistakes along the way, but Sage really does try her best to be as good as possible.

Faction of Choice:

- Mr. House and the Followers of the Apocalypse. Would like to get rid of House, but can't bring herself to become responsible for everything once he's gone. She considers herself his personal empathy and tries to assist with the goings on of the Mojave even after the battle of hoover dam. Fucking wiped out everyone in the Legion. Her and Boone are a force to be reckoned with. And she never really cared much for the Brotherhood since she had such little interaction with them. She has a good relationship with Freeside and most of the settlements/other towns as well.

Previous Occupation:

- Courier? She has no idea what else. But she’s oddly really good with medicine 🤔

Fun Fact!:

- She supports Mr. House for a number of reasons, but one of the biggest is that she doesn't want to lose Victor. He saved her, and she considers the securitron to be her oldest friend (besides Doc Mitchell). She knows it's a little selfish, but she can't bring herself to put an end to him after he pulled her from her own grave and helped bring her back from the brink of death.

My Sole Survivor: Jolene Arvanidis-Ryan

Appearence:

- She’s got auburn hair she usually keeps cut short (clean cut) or in a bun, green eyes, pale skin with a good amount of freckles and has exceptionally straight teeth (braces suck, but you know.) When traveling with Cait, people tend to think they’re related. Jolene tends to wear a black beret and, if she has the time and resources, she likes cat eye style eyeliner.

What’s in a Name:

- Her first name runs in the family... plus her dad really liked Dolly Parton, so that helped cement the first name for him. Nate’s last name was Arvanidis, and she tends to use that as her last name exclusively, she rarely reveals her maiden name (Ryan) to anyone.

Sexuality:

- Straight

Main Companion:

- Paladin Danse

Relationship:

- It takes a long time (post BB), but she ends up being with Danse.

Bestie(s):

- MacCready and Cait

Fam Dam:

- Pre-war, her father was a carpenter and her mother was a major in the US military, she had no siblings and was very close with her father since her mom was often away on deployment.

Karma:

- Decent. Tries her best to do what’s “right,” but she sometimes has a hard time determining what that is. Is good at following orders, even if she doesn’t always agree with them (BB is the exception in this case).

Faction of Choice:

- Brotherhood of Steel, at least until BB, then she tends to focus more on the Minutemen, but still stays by the BOS’s side when it comes to taking down the Institute. Despite her loyalty to the BOS, she always regrets what she did to the Railroad, and how she ended things with the Institute, and she holds quite a bit of resentment towards Elder Maxson for ordering her to pull the trigger that ended her son’s life, and the other lives within the Institute.

Previous Occupation (Pre-War):

- She was a Gunnery Sergeant in the US Military. (Trying to follow in her mother’s footsteps).

Fun Fact!:

- She hates killing feral ghouls, but keeps it under wraps since she tends to travel with MacCready and Danse the most. After that random encounter where she found herself murdering her own neighbors, she can’t bring herself to look into the eyes of any feral ghouls she has to kill.

Bonus! Fun Fact!:

- She started out as my sort of "throw away" playthrough where I wanted to do a BOS run, just out of curiosity, but she ended up being my main playthrough… probably because Danse is just the best and I can't get enough of that tin can thesaur-ass.
