A few days ago I thought that saving many animals is a complex task.

We have adopted 2, we feed a stray one and we dared to take one to find a family for her. We have impacted 4 lives.

Still, each person can impact at least one animal's life. Give them food, take them to the vet, donate to those who help animals, get informed. Even becoming more aware of and connecting to animal welfare is a step forward.

Studio IV: Coming to the final idea -- CONCEPT

Research area: Experimenting the cross-correlation in cognitive neuroscience to reveal the biological mechanism via/through technology for educational purposes by demonstrating the reaction of the brain sensory neuron circuitry. Concept:  Creating an artefact to demonstrate the relationship and the cross-correlation between the neurological condition Synesthesia of human senses to an audience.

This project is transformative through implementing a visual representation of the concept given above. This is being designed as an interactive art with the Fusions 360 and electronics(arduino) being considered as an applicable technology being utilized 

Prototypes:

The focus of this project is based off our own interest. This venn diagram will be developed with our own research to develop the interest as part of our context. 

This is planned to be done through real life observation and experience to find the relationships between the 5 human sensory to alter Acceleration, Temperature, Pain, Balance.

Planning for the showcase (exhibition) and the surroundings. The plan is to have the simple display as the artefact itself will already be so bright so there aren’t any colourful posters around for distraction. The focus is also on the height of the artefact so it isn’t a hassle for the public to either bend down a bit to view the project or having an uplift to view it.

What if you lose sense of taste?

We all have been taught in detail about the five basic human senses - sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. Each and everyone of us has a unique combination of these senses which is the extent to which they are active and their usage. It cannot be explained or experienced to/by anyone else, but you.

When suffering with a bad cold n cough, with partial loss of sense of smell, we partially lose sense of taste as well. One doesn’t feel like consuming anything because, well, it doesn’t matter.

We have evolved over centuries to recognize - good food vs. bad food. It would have started off as to differentiate harmless vs harmful food items, but probably now it is more of a personal choice when it comes to taste.

What would have happened if we did not develop the sense of taste? Would our lives be much simpler to not make decisions on daily basis as to what we want to eat, we feel like eating, in mood for eating? Would be saving a lot of time and effort by not thinking about food? Would we be much more efficient beings without taste buds in action?

If we were not capable of tasting what we consume, alternatively it would have been possible to utilize our other senses to differentiate between harmless and harmful food.

We could have used our sense of smell to judge if the food is safe to consume. We could have used sense of sight to see if the food looks harmless. We could have used sense of touch to feel if the food is stale. We could have used the sense of hearing to evaluate the sound when we chew it.

We could have used the other senses. But what happens in a scenario when you are suffering from severe cold n cough, your eyes are blindfolded, your hands are tied and your ears are plugged; and you are given coffee bean to chew. How does your brain send the signal to gag? It is an extreme scenario, but at least part of it bound to happen or would have happened already.

Our human body has evolved in a nearest possible perfection. Whatever we put in our mouth, first has to get filtered and screened by our taste buds to proceed to the next step.

Eating has become a process rather an experience. The first and the last bite generally have the attention that they deserve from you. It is only that first and last bite from your plate is what counts as an experience, and in between is a manual process.

Be thankful to the taste buds that potentially save your life daily.
