On Becoming Better

A sign of positive change as you religiously follow your routine is this: your body automatically does the “habit” required in your routine.
it becomes a habit to clean up, instead of putting it off for later. it becomes a habit to pick up your book as you get into bed at night. it becomes a habit to eat a fruit in the mornings, and to do a simple 30 minute exercise.
you won’t feel like an “IT girl” at any point in the beginning. In fact, you might feel demotivated, lethargic, you might find yourself making excuses to not accomplish your daily goals. But the feeling of being put together, of feeling like you’re finally Her, comes as you consistently and diligently look after yourself. This will take time.
even if you’re practicing just being more social / feminine, that’ll take time. An example - I have these beautiful Jimmy Choo heels that are honestly, hell to walk in. I barely ever wore them and whenever I did, I felt like a chunky Godzilla monkey clanking down the stairs - I just didn’t feel ladylike. then one day, I came across this video of a lady showing exactly how one walks in heels. And boy, was that a game changer. I actually wrote her advice down and began practicing walking in heels every night, starting with a shorter heel height. in time, those heels have become one of the comfiest heels I own. I absolutely love them, and I get endless compliments. I began wearing kitten heels at work because somehow, they made me feel confident, yet feminine - and I felt a lot more put together than wearing flats.
Another example is using my Orai speaking app. It helps me so much with impromptu speaking! I love doing their little public speaking exercises. After two weeks of using it, I noticed a confidence boost in my presentation and talking skills, especially at work. I combined that with learning new words and I feel like my communication has improved significantly.
One last example is my Sweat app. I hate working out for more than 40 mins, I just can’t do it. I hate using crazy heavy weights too. With Sweat, I can workout for about 30 mins, select a fantastic low impact workout, feel amazing after, not be ridiculously sore the next day - and I’ve been seeing increased muscle definition. I was at a party the other day and whilst I was in the bathroom I suddenly noticed how toned my arms had gotten.
what this example shows is that taking little steps towards any goal you have - big or small - and practicing religiously helps a lot. And selecting the method that works for you. Lifting heavy weights works for some girls, not for me. My boyfriend keeps trying to “build” my workouts and I’ve flat out told him no, I’m doing it my way because it’s just what works for me.
do what works for you but do it consistently.

Seeing Your Dragon Form: Dormleaders
Heyyyy~ Back with another chapter! Here, this is when they saw your full dragon form for the first time. Now, this chapter is a bit special. It'll be separated into 3 or 4 parts. One for the Dormleaders, one for the vice's + Ruggie and Floyd, another for the first years and a last one for anyone left. I'm also thinking about one for the teachers + Crowley. This one is the Dormleaders. You can take this as romantic or platonic, your choice.
Also, I'm gonna describe what you look like in Riddle's section so I don't have to in others. Just refer back to his section for imagery.
Riddle
He was certainly shocked, that's for sure.
He's only seen dragons in drawings or in the media, and even then they were mostly the mainstream kind of dragons. Ice isn't the first thing people think of when they think of dragons,
You had taken him to a small clearing of trees in the forest behind NRC since there was plenty of space where you didn't need to worry about hurting someone.
You towered over him, and he himself is pretty short so it made the difference even greater.
The usual cold air that followed you had increased in temperature, making it harder for him to be close to you.
Your horns became larger and sharper, like huge icicles. Spikes ran down your back just as sharp as your horns. Your tail swayed behind you and your eyes gleamed a dangerous e/c color.
Despite all this, you showed no signs of being hostile towards him. When he looked into your eyes, he saw a playful glint in them. Like you were studying his reactions and getting a kick out of it all.
He quickly put himself together after the initial shock.
You brought yourself down to his height and placed your head peacefully on the grass in front of him. He slowly made his way closer to you.
Gently, he placed a hand on your head. Despite the cold feeling, it didn't hurt. He sat next to your head and found himself quickly easing into a sense of safety and security. You laid your wings around him, enclosing the space and basically trapping him, but he didn't mind.
You made gentle, humming noises and he found the shaking feeling began to make him sleepy. He no longer was shocked about how you look like this and the drowsiness of his daily activities caught up to him. He curled up in the crook of your long neck.
"Thank you, for trusting me with this sight. I know how you feel, but you don't need to worry around me. Have a good nap, Y/N. I'm not to far behind you anyways."
Leona
You truly are an oversized lizard, huh?
He did whatever he could to keep the shock off his face, and it worked. You would've believed him, if you hadn't known him so well.
He didn't realize, but his tail stayed close to the grass, his ears twitch in your direction. More than a few of his muscles tensed.
He wasn't scared, just weary. He's always wondered what would happen if Malleus got pissed off at him enough to turn dragon mode. Now he just associates the thought with a sense of danger.
You could pick up on this though. You've always had a strange ability to do that when it comes to Leona. Your next goal? Be as non-threatening as possible.
Your tail gently curled around your hind leg, you sprawled your wings out in the grass around you and you brought your body close to the ground.
When he looked at you, he could clearly see the message you were trying to tell him. He understands you can't talk in this form.
He approached you. His muscles loosened when he touch your snout and your eyes closed, showing contentment.
Gently, he ran his hand up and down your scales. The skin on his hands pricked from the cold, a feeling he still wasn't used to.
His ears picked up on the faint hum you made. A smirk found its way on his face, and he didn't try to hide it.
He spent a bit of time petting you. He saw it as revenge for all the times you pet him with no warning. But, much to his demise, you didn't see it as anything spiteful. You quite enjoyed the attention.
"Hm. Fine. I'll stay with you for a while. But that's only because Ruggie won't come get me if I'm with you while you're like this."
Azul
He was...hesitant..to say the least.
He was nervous to see what you'd turn into. That's not meant to sound mean or judgemental, he wouldn't judge you. You don't judge him, why would he in turn?
More so, it's just that he doesn't know how he himself will react and doesn't want to hurt you with a negative reaction.
He knew you were nervous about yourself for a long time. But, you decided that if he saw you comfortable with yourself, he'd become a bit more confident as well.
It took a lot of convincing from you to lead him into the forest clearing. Even more for the Twins not to follow.
Once you two were there and he backed up to give you space, seeing you transform was the most stunning things he's ever seen.
A white mist covered you and a dark shadow on the inside(you) grew and changed shape. Into the shape of a dragon. When the mist cleared, he saw you.
Your e/c colors stared him down. You did what you could not to freak him out, but you didn't have full control of every habit of yours.
He could feel a few flight reflexes kick in. He stayed in place though. (You praised him for that later)
You sat. You kinda reminded him of a dog with the way you sat and waited patiently. Your tail rested motionless, wings calmly at your sides. Your head tilted to the side. To Azul, it was kinda cute. Like looking at a sea guppy.
He stepped closer, but kept a slight distance. You weren't offended, you knew you needed to take things slow. And you knew he was more worried about you than himself.
In an attempt to show him that there was nothing to worry about, you stretched out one of your arms, careful to watch your claws, and held it in front of him. Like how a human reaches out a hand to a scared animal. (Ironic since he was more human than you rn)
He got the message. He approached you and placed a gentle hand on your arm. The cold was somehow a comfort. It sorta reminded him of the cold waters in the Coral Sea. Slowly, he leaned into your touch and found himself calm. All worry faded away and you came close to him and gave whatever your equivalent of a smile is. It warmed his heart.
"I see. I hope none of my actions hurt you. You were very brave to show me all this. I hope one day, I can be like you with myself."
Kalim
He was certainly the most excited to see your dragon form.
He's never seen a dragon before, and The Land Of Scalding Sands doesn't have any legends or stories regarding dragons, so it's been an obscure concept to him.
He, without hesitance, followed you to the clearing in the forest and patiently waited for you to feel you were ready.
He held his breath as you transformed and only released it when he saw you were okay.
The dragon he saw standing in front of him. Blew. His. Mind!
Even before you could entirely orientate yourself he quickly threw himself onto you and wrapped his arms around your long neck, which was barely close enough to the ground for him to reach. (Especially since he's short)
He talked to you about everything and anything for 2 hours straight. He didn't mind that you couldn't verbally respond, it actually gave him enough time to learn what different ques you made meant. You nodded and shook your head for yes or no questions, you flopped your tail when you meant 'maybe', and your wings flutter lightly when you don't know how to respond.
He even learned what the meaning behind certain sounds meant.
"Sorta wish I had seen your dragon form earlier, but better later than never! Right?...I wonder what Jamil's doing right now?" Cue to Jamil who's freaking out because Kalim didn't tell him he was leaving the dorm.
Vil
He had come to know you pretty well. Despite that, he realized that he never actually asked you anything about your dragon form.
He's definitely thought about it, but never wanted to ask you for fear of making you uncomfortable.
When you told him you really wanted to, he worried that you may have been forcing yourself for him. You quickly reassured him that that wasn't the case. He then agreed to come with.
Seeing you morph was beautiful to him.
You were beautiful.
Your beautiful white scales tinted blue when the sun hit them at a certain angle. Your horns glistened with an icy nature, your eyes shone with a slight glaze of white over them. (Rook explained to him how this protects your eyes from the sun)
All he saw was pure, icy beauty. In a way, he couldn't comprehend why you've been self-conscious about how this form looked. Then he remembered how he gets when people comment negatively about how he looks, and how it can take a toll after so long.
He came to a resolve. To make sure you never again see anything negative about your dragon form!
With quick, confident strides, he approached you. Looking up to meet your eyes, he gave you a sweet, caring face.
He then began to fawn over you. His usual uptight behavior fell to allow his more caring side to take hold so that he could make sure you knew just how beautiful you looked. He commented on how well you seem to take care of yourself, your huge size meaning there was more to admire. Your horns looked like you took gentle care of them. Your snout looked adorable to him. The spikes running down your back, were sharp to the touch.
Those are all examples of how he expressed that he saw and took notice of all your beauty.
He sat on the grass in front of you and allowed you to place you snout in his lap as he gently rubbed your head while whispering sweet compliments to you.
"I hope that, never again, do you see anything wrong with your own beauty. And if anyone tells you other wise, just send them my way."
Idia
You want him to leave his room??? Whyyyyy?
He always thought seeing you in your dragon form would be the coolest thing ever. But he didn't think he'd be dragged out of his room by you and forced into the forest.
We couldn't have just done this somewhere at Ignihyde?
Then you transformed, and he no longer remembered why he was upset.
The fantasy loving weeb in him came out and he started to freak out.
He had a split second of hesitation, ice and fire don't mix and he could feel the ice on you, but his weeb took over and he rushed over. He was no longer shy with you.
His mind was going a million miles and hour and he asked you question after question. Until he realized that you couldn't talk. Which honestly bummed him out a bit but he quickly recovered.
Soon, he took to simply admiring you while you soaked up the attention he was giving you.
His warm fingers lightly slid across your cold scales, sending a shiver up his spine every time, but he didn't mind.
It shocked him when you reached out an arm and pulled him close to you. You held him against your side while you curled up like a puppy.
"Um, okay then. I guess we can stay like this for a bit. But, I do still have some games I need to play later, so not all day, okay?"
Malleus
You had zero problems with him. It actually went the smoothest with him.
When you two were having a conversation a while back, he had questioned if you had a dragon form like he did. You had explained to him that you did but you were to shy to show anyone. He had asked why and you told him that after so long of people bad mouthing you about how you look in fae form, you became hesitant for anyone to see you as a dragon.
He talked about his form in an attempt to help you feel comfortable. He also told you that you'd never need to be scared with him because he's just like you. That made it easier for you to get where you are now. Finally ready to show.
You took him to the clearing and asked him to back away so you wouldn't hit him.
The way you transformed was different from his. He created a puff of smoke around him, you made a mist of ice.
Once the mist faded, he quickly took in every detail about you. How sharper your horns are compared to his, your serrated claws. The white and blue tint of your scales while his a black with purple tints. (Well, that's what Lilia has told him.)
He immediately took to feeling your scales and tough skin, wings and tail. You didn't mind, not like you had a lot of feeling in those areas. He's a dragon to, so he knew exactly where he needed to avoid.
You were a lot more different from him than he was expecting. His scales were rough while yours were smooth. Your horns sharp, his rounded. Your wings were more angular and his were longer.
He didn't mean to get as analytical as he did, he was just really curious. After realizing how he was acting he took to talking to you. Unlike others, he could understand majority of your draconic growls and rumbling. You could actually hold a proper conversation with him.
Eventually, you began to get tired. Your eye lids drooped and you struggled to keep your head up. He saw this and told you it was fine to fall asleep.
He actually turned into his own dragon form and curled up next to you, intertwining your tails. Together, you both fell asleep there on the grass.
"I never thought that I would meet someone so like me, even if we are different. Thank you, Child of Dragons, for coming into my life."

do you have a diet guideline and exercise routine? i'm having trouble figuring out what exactly i should be eating aside from people's vague "fiber and vegetables or whatever". And finding an exercise routine that works and i can actually make myself stick with and keep myself motivated with. Any tips/advice? thanks!
CREATING DIET & EXERCISE GUIDELINES

CREATING YOUR DIET
Determine how many calories you need daily. Your daily caloric intake depends on your age, sex, weight, height, and activity level. Some online calculators can help you with like this. However, if you’re calculating it, make sure to consider your activity levels.
Then, determine how much of what nutrients you need. If you’re lacking in one, you may want to increase the intake of that nutrient. Or, if you think you eat too much of it, you may decrease this. 
The best way to find out what nutrients you need is by a calculator. However, the best form of action is to ask your GP what they advise you. Here are the formulas;
Calculate your protein intake 10-30% of total calories (for adults)
Amount of fats - 20-35% of total calories (for adults)
Consumption of carbohydrates 45-65% of total calories
Recommended water intake 1 kcal = 1 mL
Number of grams of fibre Fiber = (kcal/1000) × 14
Limit processed foods, sodium, sugars and saturated fats as much as you can. While it is okay to eat them in moderation, they shouldn’t be a part of your daily diet.
To create healthy meals that are suited to you, consider your daily lifestyle and what times you feel hungry the most. While I cannot speak for your needs, this is typically what your meals should look like.
BREAKFAST - Breakfast should not be anything processed or fatty. It is the meal you break your 8-hour fast with, and it is the energy you use for the rest of the day. 
The most ideal breakfast is one that is protein-rich, as it can help you be more productive throughout the day. 
LUNCH - A lean, light but colourful meal is best suited for lunch. This shouldn’t be too filling, but enough so it can sustain your hunger until dinner. 
Lunch should be a meal that has lots of veggies or fruits that can energise you as well. 
DINNER - I don’t want to sound forceful, but dinner should be your healthiest meal. This is the energy that your body uses to recover and heal from the day you’ve just had. 
It should be balanced with complex carbs, vegetables and proteins. However, for dinner, it is advised that you either eat early or eat small. 
SNACKS - Light snacks that are filling. Avoid snacks in which you mindlessly eat them, those are the type of snacks which are most likely not good for you and you’ll end up overeating. Fruits are the best choice here.

This is a diagram I use often to measure how much food I need to eat without weighing them or counting calories. To be precise;
Vegetables or/and fruit should be ½ of your plate
Proteins should be ¼ of your plate
Grains/Carbs should be ¼ of your plate. 
Adjust this to your liking, but I thought it would help you. 
CREATING YOUR EXERCISE GUIDELINES
This is a process that does not happen overnight, even if you want to start running kilometres a day if you’re living a sedentary life currently, that is not possible. 
Start by finding small intervals in your day to exercise, experimenting around and documenting how each one makes you feel. For now, just try to figure out what you like and form the consistency, 
Then, once you get the hang of exercising regularly, you get to make your own rules. For example, your rest days, how many minutes or hours, what you do that day etc. 
Exercise is just another way to fuel your body, and you only know your body and what feels good for it. So I cannot provide any further advice than this. Make sure to start slowly though.

there’s something about shiraishi that always makes him want to try.
from plantober day 19: lavender (grace, serenity, devotion)
There isn’t much to say to Shiraishi that he hasn’t already said, and though he is proud of the increasing lack of misinterpretation between them, Toya’s vowed to himself to make his belief in his precious teammates clear. Shiraishi, with her bold, enthusiastic methods of crashing straight through any barriers he may have put up to reach out a hand, pull him up to her level, steady him through her willpower alone—it is a definitive action that has stuck with him all this time.
Once, he would’ve called it over-enthusiasm with the same words he used to desecrate Akito’s dream. He cannot bear to see it as such anymore. All he wants to do, truly, is repay it in some meaningful way. So if repayment comes in the form of accepting almost instantly when she aims her best pleading look at him while sheepishly admitting to needing supplementary classes to finish the year, he will take it.
Akito, though…

He has decided on a way to repay her.
“Toya,” Shiraishi calls, laughing a little as she leans against the counter, “what are you doing?”
When he turns to look at her properly, there’s only a questioning air in her smile, kind in a way she always seems to carry. Since the day they learned the truth behind Rad Weekend, her grins have become a little more pensive, perhaps considering, but never hesitant. Toya has always admired her, but the strength she carries daily… is incredible, but not one she should feel obligated to hold onto alone.
“You said once that all the shelves here were made for your father’s height,” Toya says, turning back to reach for what he assumes is a jar of coffee beans. “I’m taller than you, so it makes sense to help.”
He sets the jar down carefully—? Shiraishi looks as if she’s struggling to hold back laughter
“Toya,” she says, resting a hand over his, “we don’t need to get any coffee beans until a customer orders.”
He looks around. All the regulars are nursing cups already, and no new patrons have walked in. Hm.
“Would you like a cup, then?” Toya offers.
Shiraishi lights up. He’s glad to see it. The sort of intense pride that her joy brings always soothes him. “Yeah!” She laughs a little. “Hey, do you know how to do latte art?”
…He hadn’t taken that into account, even with Meiko’s help…
More laughter. The answering smile comes easier to his face, too. “Here, let me help.”

On the walk back to the flat, Marlene trailed behind the others and matched Dorcas’s relaxed, long-legged stride. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for muscle memory to kick in. Between James and Dorcas’s obscene heights, Marlene was well acquainted with walking at a half-jog to keep up with either of them. While James tended to be in a constant rush as though he was in a footrace with the churning tide of the crowded pavement, Dorcas preferred a leisurely stroll.
Today, it was no different. She seemed content to hang back from the group, and Marlene was more than happy to join her. Dorcas was an avid people-watcher and the couples in front of them were a fascinating case study, Marlene was sure.
“Interesting coincidence, isn’t it?” she asked, nodding toward them. “All of them finding their perfect matches in Wales? Sirius too. Makes you wonder.”
“Wonder what?” Dorcas asked. Her gaze flicked toward Marlene before returning to the couples.
“Well, if you think about it, James and Regulus probably would have met a lot sooner if we stayed together. They likely would have gone to Wales together last year, so Pandora and Sirius would have met Lily and Remus then.”
Dorcas frowned, the crease between her eyebrows deepening. “No, they wouldn’t. Regulus was with someone else at the time.”
“That Crouch fellow? The one that pushed Pandora?” she checked.
“Mm-hmm, the same,” Dorcas said coldly, her mouth drawn tight.
Marlene leapt at the opening to redirect the conversation to a mutually agreeable topic. “Did I hear that he’s with Pandora’s brother now? That has to be awkward.”
“Awkward is an understatement.”
Dorcas’s clenched jaw was warning enough to leave it be. She reluctantly waded into safer waters. With a vague gesture at the couples, she continued.
“Still interesting how all three came together on one random holiday,” Marlene said. She side-eyed Dorcas curiously. “Could have been four, if you went too.”
“Probably so, Pandora said there were several pretty girls in Lily’s friend group.”
Marlene scoffed, “I meant me!”
Dorcas’s lips twitched, but she still refused to look her way. “That’s a stretch, don’t you think?”
“No, I don’t.”
“Don’t tell me that you fell for Pandora’s claim that there was magic in Wales? Destiny, or whatever?” Dorcas said, imitating Pandora’s dreamy voice.
Marlene snorted derisively. “Of course not, but there was a lot of alcohol flowing at that festival.”
“Ah, yes. We were rather good at quick, tipsy fumbles in public places.”
“Were? Did you lose your nerve?” Marlene teased, tucking her tongue into her cheek to hold back a laugh.
Dorcas arched an eyebrow at her. “I work at a law firm. It’s not a great look for a professional.”
“Not if we don’t get caught. Where’s your sense of adventure, Cas?”
“She ran off to Scotland,” Dorcas deadpanned. She tossed her braid behind her shoulder and increased speed to catch up with James and Regulus.
Walked right into that one, you twit. Well done.

Hi i really need help. I feel so insecure and jealous. I don't feel or think that I am beautiful because I'm chubby. I have big arms and stomach. I've followed people on IG that have the same body as me and are content with it but I still don't see myself (or their bodies, I know I'm despicable) beautiful. I've been running for 5 months now but my weight still increased instead of going down. Please how do i become confident?
Hi love! Feeling like your mental perception of yourself doesn't match what you see in the mirror is incredibly frustrating. Everyone feels better at different sizes, so your feelings are valid here!
I believe that confidence in your body comes from loving yourself unconditionally while simultaneously making the deliberate decision to care for it to the best of your ability – through a healthy diet, regular exercise, proper skin care, a comprehensive beauty routine, clothes that fit well and make you feel your best, etc.
While this is purely anecdotal and in no way a scientific finding, I've found that your body seems to sort itself out once you start putting yourself first in every aspect of your life. I tend to be in my best shape when I'm working hard towards my goals, socializing regularly, putting effort into my outfits/daily appearance, eating a healthy diet but not restricting, moving my body for at least a few minutes every day, and generally letting myself work towards my potential in life if you will.
For weight loss purposes, it is more important to focus on what you eat and how much than any exercise routine. I would look into a predominately WFPB diet and then customize your meals/snacks to cater to your personal taste preferences, lifestyle, and energy requirements given your height, weight, and level of activity. See a dietitian if you need any help with this.
Additionally, you might want to try walking and low-impact strength training like pilates, yoga, and shorter 10-15 minute bodyweight exercises you can find Youtube to get started.
At least for me, I find that running and higher-intensity exercises/classes make my appetite soar, so it's counterproductive for weight loss. I think the merit of these exercises is more for the enduring training or muscle-building benefits they provide (which shouldn't be discounted – they serve a different purpose).
If you've been doing all of the right things, though, and you're not seeing the results you think you should be, go to your doctor for a blood test/panels to ensure you're not dealing with any underlying deficiencies or imbalances that could be sabotaging your efforts or otherwise negatively impacting your wellbeing.

Taking whatever job would help him out food on the table or buy things for his siblings. ❖ As he got older, the fights got worse with his parents, specifically his dad. By the time he was 15, he was crashing with friends and only coming back to make sure his siblings were ok. ❖ He barely managed to graduate high school let alone go to college to get a degree in journalism. While the paper wasn't the most high paying job, it at least let him feel more useful towards exposing what the corporations were really like. ❖ While he's still fairly close to his sisters, helping them get settled once they were old enough to move out, Halen is a mixed bag. He still tries to meet with him on the regular but he's worried over how much control their parents still have over him. Which usually ends with the two arguing and Halen giving him the silent treatment until Fox is willing to let it go. ❖ He knew Taurus, Sam, Celia and Cal growing up in the lower district. Even briefly dating Celia during high school. He never had anything personal against Taurus but he was always wary and saw way more of his own anger than he cares to in the other man. ❖ He's always been vocally against the violent messengers, or at the very least their leader. Contrary to popular belief this was true even before he and Sam started dating.

Newspapers, physical newspapers, were so archaic to Mirage. The world was online. Why wasn’t this town?
Well, she knew why in some regard.
She knew why the “strange” goings-on in Redwood Hollow were not global news, nor regional, nor Facebook Conspiracy of the week. Her employer at the very least had figured out how to keep that lock-and-key. She knew, of course, that Mr. Borovsky had a great understanding of his plan, and the world at large, and how people from across the planet may be pulled to the town, but no one else was really privy to it.
But back to the papers.
Why the hell did a town in this century still print it’s news on thin, dirty, disposable sheets?
One could hardly call the Daily Hollow a broadsheet, and the Redwood Review was nothing short of a gossip rag.
The blank ink on the paper was rubbing off on her fingers. It was stuck in the fine lines of her fingertips, evidence before it was evidence.
Newspapers in their archaicness made this news all that more heavy and confusing.
Somehow one of the writers had landed on a story that surprised even Mirage.
Not because it was surprising to her. Mirage knew many of the details were, indeed, true. The surprise was not even that the papers had got it. It was the news story itself that was the surprise.

Mirage sat at the edge of the sticky leather chair, ankles crossed, paper on her lap.
She might have caught this sooner than it got to press had the writer written their story on an internet accessible computer. She might have gotten it sooner had the junior doctor asked to update Henrik Hera’s file done so correctly.
Archaic was a running theme.
Mirage slid the paper across the desk to her employer.
Mr. Borovsky sat opposite. One might have said he looked relaxed, if otherwise completely unreadable.
The same could not be said for Mirage, who was uncharacteristically sweating.
He read.
The dewy green of his eyes darkened in the shadow of his brow.
“I haven’t gained access to the full report yet,” Mirage explained. Though her voice remained calm, her pulse did not.
Mr. Borovsky said nothing for some time.
He threw the paper onto the desk, like any old, uninteresting tabloid, sat back in chair, and considered the woman on the edge of her seat.
“Well, this won’t do, will it?”
“No, sir.”
He clasped his hands on his lap, taking a slow breath in. And out.
To the right of them, there was a window, the length and height of the wall. In a better setting, light would have poured into the deep, mahogany room and warmed the place. Mr. Borovsky’s home was far, far away from the energetic little town of Redwood Hollow, up winding hills, closer to the mountains, and buried well within the confines of the trees that made the town famous in the first place. Light fought the leaves and branches but fell short of the room.
Mr Borovky turned his chair so that he might look out into the trees surrounding his.
For Mirage, this did not feel any better than having his searing gaze on her.
“I want the doctor, and the reporter.”
“Yes, sir. I’ll have them to you first thing on M--”
“I don’t think you understand, Ms. Andress. This was supposed to be untraceable, and it has been traced, and my friends at the hospital have not been doing as I have asked. There is no first thing.”
Mirage nodded.
“On the desk to your right—” he said, without gesture. “You will find a list. Arrange a meeting with your colleagues. We have no choice but to move forward faster than I would have hoped. And have those names to me by this evening.”

As reported in last month's issue, Henrik Hera was rushed to Redwood Hollow Hospital after collapsing, following a short but sudden illness that doctors were unable to explain. Mr. Hera later fell into a month long coma, similar to the increased number of unexplained coma’s that have befallen townsfolk across the town in previous months. Doctors and staff at Redwood Hollow Hospital have been unable to find a cause for the sudden influx of illness and coma patients since they first began in 2022. However, a break through was made when doctors were able to identify an unknown substance in Mr. Hera’s blood. While we do not have reports of what that substance was, there is a suggestion that Mr. Hera (and perhaps many of the unfortunate patients) was poisoned. There are no further updates from medical staff at this time. It is being reported that Redwood Hollow Police Department have no current leads or motives.

When the Parents Are Away
Woohooo!! Welcome to the beginning of Marichat May. I’m soo excited to begin writing for this month. This chapter is set pre-Determination but it’s pretty much spoiler-free if you haven’t seen those eps yet :).

Marinette was busy working on a design. Her tongue was stuck out in concentration as the steady hum of her sewing machine filled the room. Her fingers steadily moved as she worked. She was making a new pair of pink pajamas to sleep in.  
Her parents were currently gone for a long weekend as they celebrated an anniversary. Marinette was grateful for the alone time. It meant she had more hours to work on sewing and also less stress from work in the bakery. It was also easier to transform into Ladybug without fear of her parents barging in or being concerned with her current whereabouts.
A light tap from her balcony door had her glancing in the direction curiously, still pushing her material forward. When a head popped down her trapdoor, Marinette stopped sewing with a giggle. 
Chat’s head was upside-down, grinning at her rather goofily. Her heart fluttered at the sight, still feeling slightly confused about her feelings for both Adrien and the boy in front of her.
He flopped down, landing on her bed with a soft thump. Standing up on the bouncy surface, he gave her a light bow. “Hello, purrincess.”
“Hi, Chaton. What are you doing here?” Marinette asked, standing up to move closer to her bed and him.
“Well, a little birdy told me something.” He jumped down again, a few feet away from her. 
She snickered, shaking her head with amusement. “Oh yeah. What’s that?”
“They told me that your parents are away. And you know what they say when the parents are away...,” Chat trailed off, those bright green eyes gleaming at her playfully.
“No,” Marinette giggled. “I don’t. So, please, enlighten me. What do they say when the parents are away?”
“They say that the cats will play,” he leaned forward, drumming his fingers on her forehead like she was the fool for not hearing this.
Scrunching her nose, she took a step back away from his playful fingers. She ignored the fact that her heartbeat had increased, trying to shove away some of the confusion. 
Chat was her partner. She’d trust him with her life. It... it didn’t mean that she had feelings for him. After all, she didn’t have feelings for him before when he was confessing to her daily as Ladybug. But now... now that she had lost most of the miraculouses and he had started to step up, now she was starting to see him differently.
But it just meant that she was trusting him more. It didn’t mean anything else! And besides, she was still in the process of getting over Adrien. Marinette didn’t have time to focus on her feelings for her partner.
Clearing her throat, she put aside her tumultuous feelings and grinned up at him. “I thought the saying was when the cats are away the mice will play.”
“Ahh, but the cat is right here.” Chat bowed again, shooting her a wink. She pushed away the strange pull her gut gave at the sight. “So the mice won’t be able to play.”
Marinette’s lips twitched with amusement. “Is that how it works?”
“Mhm,” he hummed, stretching back up to his full height.
This time she drummed her fingers on his nose, enjoying that Chat scrunched it just like she had. “I think you’d scream if you saw a mouse.”
He gasped, placing a hand over his chest in mock offense. “Purrincess, are you insinuating that I, Chat Noir, would be afraid of a few teeny tiny little mice?”
Taking a step closer to him, she gave him a smug smirk. “And what if I am?” 
He moved forward as well, mere inches separating them. “Then I suppose I’d have to purrove you wrong.”
Unable to stop herself, her gaze dipped down to his lips. Just once. Very briefly. The butterflies came back with a roaring vengeance and she felt her lips part. Taking a step back, Marinette sucked in a breath of air, hoping to steady her racing heart.
“Well, you’re out of luck here, then.” She giggled. “There’s no mice anywhere in this building.”
Chat tsked, “I suppose that’s what I get for picking the best bakery in Paris.”
Throwing her head back with a happy laugh, Marinette heard him chuckle along with her. When her giggles had finally slowed to a stop, she shook her head. “So, what are we doing on our little ‘cats will play’ adventure?”
“Dunno.” He shrugged. His grew even larger, going back to looking just as goofy as before. “I figured we could play some video games or watch a few movies. Or I could just keep you company while you sew?”
Chat gestured over to her sewing machine. Marinette couldn’t help but blink slightly in surprise at the sight. With him here, she had forgotten all about her little project. 
That was odd. 
Usually, when she was focused on a project that was about all she could think of. Or at least wonder when she’d have the time to get back to it.
There was a small frown on her brow but when she saw Chat glancing at her curiously, she quickly wiped it away. Shooting him a confident, playful smile, Marinette said, “I’ll only play a few rounds if you’re prepared to lose.”
His eyes narrowed, tail swishing behind him as he said, “I think you’ll find that today is the day I’m finally gonna beat you.”
“You’re on.” Marinette’s smirk grew as she pulled up the chair to her computer, booting up the game they both loved to play. She shot him a sidelong glance as he sat down next to her. She couldn’t help but stiffen slightly as she could feel the warmth radiating from him. 
But, she wasn’t going to think or worry about that. As she had thought before, she had no time for boys. All it ever led to was trouble. Before her mind could travel back to the guilt she had felt for mistaking Adrien for Félix, Marinette shook her head. Right now, all she was going to concern herself with was beating Chat in this first round of Ultimate Mecha Strike III. 
Relaxing, Marinette lost herself in the mashing of buttons and combos. It was time to win!

TIMING: february 24, 2017. FEATURING: rosa cortez, juliana cortez, elena cortez, and the grand first appearance of flora cortez. LOCATION: emilio's living room and bedroom in mexico. SUMMARY: emilio gets a pep talk from his sister just before being thrust into fatherhood. CONTENT WARNINGS: none!
24 FEBRUARY 2017.
The living room was relatively small, comparatively speaking. It took Emilio twenty steps to pace from one wall to the other. Less if he lengthened his stride. He’d gotten it down to twelve once, with steps so wide it was a little embarrassing. He did it in seventeen now, shuffling the last one as he took a breath. One hand came up to his head, tangling in his hair as he glanced to the bedroom door.
The door to the outside opened, sunlight streaming in behind Rosa as she stepped in and shut the door behind her. She looked taken aback to see him there, crossing the room to meet him in the middle with eight long steps. He wondered, absently, if she could pace the length of the living room in less than twelve, if this, too, was something she was better at. He pushed the thought aside. Stupid. It was stupid. Everything seemed so stupid.
“What are you doing out here, Milio? Did something…?” She glanced to the bedroom door, and he shook his head quickly.
“Everything’s okay, I think. ‘Ana just kicked me out. Said I was stressing her out more than the rest of it.”
Rosa snorted. “I’d believe it. You were bad enough with me when it was Jaime. Can’t imagine how much worse you are now.”
“I forgot it was like that. Looks more like a battlefield.”
“No it doesn’t.” Rosa’s smile was small, sly. “You’d know what to do on a battlefield.” 
Emilio snorted, some of the tension leaving his chest because Rosa was good at that. They didn’t always get along — that was the nature of siblings, he knew, especially siblings in such constant competition with one another — but when they did, his sister always knew exactly what to say to tame the tangled web of his thoughts. Better than Edgar did, better than Victor had ever gotten a chance to try. The only one who might challenge her for top spot in the game of knowing how to settle Emilio’s uneasy mind was Rhett, and the warden wasn’t here now. 
Gently, Rosa nudged his shoulder with hers. “You should go in.”
“She kicked me out,” Emilio reminded her. “She doesn’t want me in there.”
“She does. She’s stressed and in pain and probably a little bit terrified, but she wants you there. She married your dumb ass, didn’t she? She chose to get stuck with you. The rest of us just had you tacked on.” The words stung a little; the teasing was a little too close to the truth, he knew. Emilio, in comparison to his siblings, was unnecessary and often unwanted.
But not to Juliana. 
“Any final words of wisdom before I step back into the thick of it?” He raised a brow, smiling faintly and pretending her words didn’t sting, pretending nothing did. Rosa had the good grace to do the same, shrugging a shoulder.
“Don’t let ‘em see the whites of your eyes.”
Nodding to her, Emilio took a deep breath. Ten paces to the bedroom door. His hand hovered over the knob, and he drew another lungful of air before nudging it open.
Juliana was on the bed, a sheen of sweat covering her skin. Her eyes found his across the room, and relief flooded her features. Immediately, the anxiety he’d felt at the door dissipated. “Milio,” she breathed, thrusting out a hand towards him. He walked over to the bed, slipping his hand in hers. She squeezed it so tight he thought his fingers might break.
“One more push,” his mother said from the foot of the bed, methodical. There was no joy in her face; she looked less like a woman helping to deliver her grandchild and more like someone ticking off a checklist of daily chores. Emilio looked away, focusing instead on pushing Juliana’s damp hair away from her forehead.
The pressure on his hand increased momentarily as Juliana pushed, but Emilio hardly noticed it, because with the height of that pressure came a sound. A shrill cry piercing the air, new lungs drawing in oxygen for the first time and releasing it with so much noise that it was almost as if they were protesting. 
“A girl,” his mother announced. A weight was shoved into Emilio’s hands; a necessary thing instead of a thoughtful gesture. His mother needed both hands free to finish, and Juliana was still weak from her efforts. Had anyone else been standing in Emilio’s spot, they would have been handed that wriggling mass, too. Had he not reentered the room, the child would have been placed on the floor. That was how it went, he knew. “That’s good. We’ve had more luck with girls, lately.”
His mother’s words struck something in him, some childish sense of accomplishment as if his mother being pleased that his child was a girl was the same as his mother being proud of him for something he’d done intentionally. He looked down at the shape in his arms. She wasn’t crying anymore; dark eyes were blinking up at him, face scrunched up in a way that almost seemed thoughtful. 
It felt like being hit by lightning, looking at her for the first time. He put a finger in her tiny hand, and she gripped it with more strength than should have been possible for something so small. He sucked in a breath.
“Call her what you want,” Juliana said from the bed, sounding drained. “I’m going to take a nap. Just don’t make it something stupid, Milio. I’m not calling her Emilia.” He snorted at the suggestion, rolling his eyes. 
“Flora,” he said quietly. “I like Flora.”
“Okay,” Juliana agreed. “Flora it is. Flora Emilia Cortez.” He looked over to her, bemused expression on his face, and she shrugged. “I just like the name. It isn’t about you. You’re a little conceited, darling, has anyone ever told you that?” 
Rolling his eyes again, he knelt down, letting her take a look. “We did a pretty good job,” he told her quietly.
“We? Which one of us just pushed her out?”
“I helped a little.”
“You can help when she needs potty training. That’s how you pay me back.”
Laughing, he nodded his head. “Okay,” he agreed. “Deal.”

Gaurdian Adoption Day (A Concept)
Gaurdian Adoption Day is a day that occurs when there is a certain amount of Gaurdians who have lost their Ghost in unfortunate circumstances and they can't be left to weep for too long anymore.
Gaurdian Adoption Day or GAD is a Tower based event hosted by the Vangaurd who will gather Gaurdians that have been transported, guided, found, or travelled home alive. These Gaurdians are still Gaurdians who have Light in them, and that's why they can't be classified as regular Civilians or a non-light bearing Vangaurd member.
During GAD, barriers around and near height hazards will be risen as well as multiple and I mean *multiple* announcements, precautions, and reminders to all in the tower that there will be a temporary increase of **Non-Revivable** people on the Tower. Provisions of safe but resilient bouncy houses, trampolines, books and crayons will be provided to keep some of our Gaurdians company.
Throughout the course of this event, small activities can be partaken in such as counselling, hug therapy with Dad(s) Saint 14 (and Orisirs if he's around), knitting with Zavala and so on so fourth, as well as pep talks with Shaxx and Saladin. There will be handouts of huggable sized Ghost plushies, Ghost shaped cookies, New Ghost Shells, New Ghost Shell voting (sponsored by Eververse) and other Ghost themed merchandise. There will be screenings, Ted talks, and multiple sit-down evaluations about safety for not only you but how to keep your Ghost safe.

Volunteers would be much appreciated, and as much as a reward given for volunteering was opposed of, Ikora reasoned, giving out a cool new shader (like Photo Finish) and a banner would give more incentive for more Gaurdians to help out.
Yes, this is an over glorified daycare for Gaurdians, and this events goals are to help Gaurdians with their loss, Ghost to better cope, that and hopefully find a Ghost with no Gaurdian. Civilians or Non-light bearers who have Ghost friends can come along to see if their Ghost friend can find their Gaurdian.
When a Gaurdian is 'Adopted' by a Ghost, a photoshoot and handing out of Adoption Papers. A pen will be haphazardly taped on the Ghost for their signature on the official adoption document. These Gaurdians will be kept after close temporary watch to ensure their taking it easy and not getting ahead over themselves.
Ghost has become an extension of us as Gaurdians, and they are our friends, family, or even more to some others. They should not be seen as disposable or replaceable and GAD hopes to help show more appreciation to our dear Ghost who has to go through all our bullshit but still stick with us and love us on a daily basis.
