It is with great pleasure that I can finally announce the end to our hiatus, and the beginning of the new season of HAPPIESTPLACEHQ!

I cannot wait to see what the future brings for us, and hope that you are all as thrilled as I am to be back. Keep your eyes peeled for updated bios and graphics, new characters, events and plot drops, as well as an update to our rules and pages.

Not everything is complete just yet, so pardon our pixie dust for a moment longer while graphics continue to be changed in the coming weeks.

The Rules Updates - [read the new rules page here]

New activity and character rules are now in place for all players! Please read carefully as this is in effect from 1st October.

Activity Changes

Players must be active on all their characters at least twice per month, on two separate weeks. (For example, posting on the 1st week of the month and the 3rd week of the month). This will be checked at the end of each month, and a warning issued to those who have not posted within this time span.

You must have an interaction with at least 2 other players (not characters) on each character. If you are seen to only be interacting with certain players (bubbling) and not reaching out to anyone else in the RP you will be issued a warning. You will be notified if you have been inactive on individual characters.

Please keep on top of the threads you owe and don’t drop threads after the first or second interaction. Reply to the starters people make for you, and reply to the replies you get on your open starters. Reply to open starters!! I will be checking reply counts on threads. Reply to your replies and communicate with your partner if the thread isn’t working.

If you’re going to be gone for between two weeks to a month or more, you must ask for a hiatus. You do not need to give a reason for the hiatus, but you are asked to check in with us at the end of your hiatus if you need an extension or are returning to the dash.

Muse posts do not count toward activity. Completing tasks does, as long as you have also been active at least once in the month.

Other Rules

In the interest of diversity and making our group as welcoming as possible to all writers, your 2nd character’s faceclaim must be either a Person of Colour, Body Diverse or Gender Diverse (or meet multiple criteria). If your 2nd character is not a person of colour, then your 3rd character must be a person of colour.

As our upper limit has been extended to 10 characters, we ask that no more than 4 characters are white & cisgender. This means that 6 characters must be diverse in some way, meeting at least one of the above criteria.

Starters are your friends. Please reply to at least two open starters before posting your own, and remember to post an open starter at minimum every few weeks so all players have a chance to interact.

So I know you have read and understood these changes to activity and character diversity, please reply to this post with your least favourite colour.

Character Bios

All bios will be receiving a fresh coat of paint over the next few weeks including better formatting and new graphics (the graphics load was too much to finish before the hiatus ended)

All currently taken bios will be reposted via the queue with new graphics and the updates everyone sent to me last month. (For blacklisting, I will be using the tag #happiestbio).

Open bios will be getting updates including new FCs and re-writes, which are still ongoing with the graphics. These will simply be updated rather than re-posted.

The navigation sections and plot drops section is currently being updated to be more cohesive. (This was more work than anticipated, but a dedicated page to the entire plot thus far is in the works.)

Applications

OC applications will now be open to all until the end of the year to celebrate our new season!

Applications will be open again from October 1st.

Our first acceptance of the season will be Friday 4th October!

Born into a relatively wealthy family, Alice was far from the prim and proper young lady her mother expected her to be. No she was the girl who ran amok, scraped knees and mud lacing her dress, much to the disapproval of her mother and older sister. The young girl was imaginative and came up with the wildest stories. Her father was always the one to encourage her, believing it to be her greatest strength. Alice had a penchant for art, he was the one to help cultivate that talent. So she created worlds of her own in her head, dragged anyone she could into for just a moment.

Everything was simply wonderful, until her father passed. So sudden that it rocked the entire Liddell family to its core. Suddenly one of the only people who truly understood Alice was gone, she was beside herself. To say she went off the deep end was an understatement. Nothing seemed to alleviate the grief. Eventually her mother started doubling down on her efforts to turn Alice into a proper young lady. That was the last thing Alice wanted, her sister was proper enough for the both of them. It was soon after this that she found pixie dust, it could change her life she was told. That was exactly what she needed.

Once she got a taste there was no going back. The places it takes hers, the things she sees. A veritable wonderland is what it is. She hid it well enough from her family at first. However she couldn't deny when her sister found her half strung out, talking to herself and trying to climb onto the roof. Her mother was furious. Imagine the scandal, she said. What would father think, she said. Alice doesn't remember what was said after that, just a lot of yelling that resulted in her no longer living with them. So she was on her own now. It was a mad dash to find a job and less than desirable apartment, but it beats being on the streets. She uses pixie dust more than ever at this point it doesn’t seem like she’ll ever stop.

Notable character information: Alice is suffering with an addiction to Pixie Dust and having hallucinations.

Evangeline's Event !!

OOC Information

We're kicking off Season 2 with a party, in typical Redwood Hollow fashion, though don't be fooled, the light and happy atmosphere is merely here to act as dramatic irony for what is to come later in the season. Keep your eyes open for some small hints to our next plot drop.

The event takes place in the new restaurant opening in town, Evangeline's, painstakingly built from the ground up by Ray Bug after many years of working hard to get there. Everyone in town over the age of 21 is invited for cocktails and a sample menu, followed by a Halloween party in celebration of opening night. It will be smaller in scale to those mega parties the town will be throwing on Halloween, but let's just say it will be far more intimate.

As this is our first event for some time, I am keeping the time-scale short so that everyone is still able to keep on top of their other replies (I see you starter tag!!) and not drag us too far into the winter months. I highly encourage everyone to interact outside of your usual scope of characters (think of this event like a mixer!) and also gently suggest a rapid fire, short and sweet approach to replies so that we can bring a nice flow to the dash.

This is also a reminder that activity checks will be happening at the end of the month, so if you haven't had a chance to be on, now is the perfect time!

Important Stuff

This event is optional, though it is highly encouraged you take part to get the dash going.

Event starters may be posted during the event period between Friday 25th October and Sunday 3rd November, but not before or after.

Please make sure to post open starters and reply to others. The two replies before making a new starter rule applies here.

Please tag all event starters with happiestevent13 and the happiestplacestarter, and mark event conversations the same way, so it is easier for players to see who is taking part.

the woods were home to more than just her humble cottage. a myriad of cut-throughs and crossovers, from well trod path to the perfunctory dark of an animal den - all kept secrets too severe to share. and even so, there was not one trek she would not take if it so pleased her. call it callous disregard or lack of sympathy for her own sweet skin {as the meek and misunderstanding townsfolk so often did.}

and mayhaps there was even an ounce of truth to that framing of her folly; but far worse and away was its backstabbing actuality: there was ever and always a seed - dead set on self-destruction at root in the halved fraction of her heart...

and occasionally it called her to a shameless complicity in creating the means of her own deceasing.

this evening she raced whatever caught scent the hearth smoke of her cape, back to the man-made boundaries of the wooden cabin she called home. the crimson flash of long skirts rushed wild as a forest river would set a lust in any creature that catered in crushed bone and snapped sinew. her breath a ragged but elated drag through her lungs. her pulse the pound of prey delighted by its own daring, thrumming for the thrill of its own throttling.

a strange, morbidly sensual existence as hers emits a strange tune. let only some fright or much talked of terror alight on the very same frequency - and so hearing, bear forth with famished grin -
