Low Carb Dieting For Successful Weight Loss

Low carb dieting has become fashionable in recent years especially with the publication of the Atkins diet.
Losing weight is a goal for so many people and everybody is looking for the quick and easy way to lose weight. Some people do not need to lose weight at all but still get stressed over a couple of pounds.
Others need to lose for medical reasons and may have one hundred pounds or more that they want to shed.
There are many different diets out there including low carbohydrate diets and the truth is that most of them will achieve weight loss if they are followed correctly.
This does not mean always doing what the diet says every moment of every day.
What is more important is how you deal with the inevitable occasion when you eat too much or feast on foods that are not on the plan.
If you can write this off and return to the plan without giving yourself a hard time, you are likely to succeed.
Everybody has those days - the important thing is to let them go and accept them as just another step on the road to permanent weight loss.
It is also important to find a diet that you can easily follow.
Low carb diets suit many people because the rules are quite simple. As the name suggests, the diet consists of avoiding or limiting foods that are high in carbohydrates.
These include bread, pasta, potatoes, rice and other grains. Sugar is also a carbohydrate.
Once you understand what these foods are, it is a simple matter to choose dishes that avoid them.
Most criticism of low carbohydrate dieting is based on the fact that the dieters will get most of their daily calories from meat, dairy and other high fat products.
This can lead to high cholesterol and other problems related to a high intake of saturated fats. Medical advice is advised before starting this type of diet.
Sometimes weight loss is good in the early stages but people cannot handle the restrictions in the longer term and start to deviate from the diet.
One of the problems that many people have with low carb dieting is the elimination of bread and pasta.
No more toast, spaghetti or pizza! Many of the foods that are quickest to prepare are based around carbohydrates - burgers in their buns, fries, sandwiches, pasta and sauce. Beer and other alcoholic drinks are high in carbs too.
It is true that alcohol is generally restricted on any diet, because it is high in calories and very low in nutritional value, but low carb diets put particular emphasis on this.
Still there are many foods that can be enjoyed on a low carb diet. If you are fond of meat you will relish the opportunity to consume beef, chicken and other animal products.
The popularity of these diets is clear from the length of time that they stay on the bestseller lists. It is just a matter of what suits you. Low carb dieting works for many people.

Doctors and Health Experts Are Changing Their Minds About Whole Milk and Cheese
— By Neal Templin | September 06, 2024 | Barron’s
For more than 40 years, the general medical advice has been to avoid full-fat milk products because they are high in saturated fat, the unhealthy fat associated with red meat.
Some studies published in the past decade have found evidence to the contrary. Cheese and yogurt made from whole milk, as well as whole milk itself, may be more beneficial than previously thought.
The changing stance on dairy is particularly important for seniors, who are more prone to heart disease, stroke, and diabetes—the very diseases that milk consumption may help. Beyond that, because seniors digest protein more poorly, they are advised to increase their intake of protein. Dairy is packed with protein and calcium, which helps seniors retain healthy muscles and strong bones. And milk products are relatively cheap, widely available, and easy to consume.
Even for people who can’t tolerate dairy, there is now an array of lactose-free products that cause fewer digestive problems.
One study, published in 2016, found that consuming milk and dairy products was associated with a reduced risk of childhood obesity, improved body composition and weight loss in adults, and a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, particularly stroke.
“The totality of available scientific evidence supports that intake of milk and dairy products contribute to meet nutrient recommendations, and may protect against the most prevalent chronic diseases, whereas very few adverse effects have been reported,” the study concluded.
Growing Appetite
The average American is consuming more dairy products with a higher milk fat content.

Note: Consumption is based on a milk-fat basis, which places greater weight on products such as whole milk, butter, and cheese. Source: USDA
Other studies, such as this one from 2018, found that fermented products like yogurt or cheese bring the most health benefits. “There appear to be metabolic benefits, particularly the risk for Type 2 diabetes, that appear to be reduced by consumption of fermented dairy,” explains endocrinologist Dr. Ronald Krauss, a professor at the University of California, San Francisco, who is an expert on blood lipids.
Even butter and cream in the amounts consumed by most people don’t cause health issues, says Krauss. He does, however, advise his patients with high LDL cholesterol levels, the bad kind of cholesterol that leads to heart disease, to avoid dairy fat. “I do tell people with high LDL to try to lower all types of saturated fat, including dairy,” he says.
There is a debate in the scientific community over dairy fat. Dariush Mozaffarian, a Tufts University professor and cardiologist, says that many nutrition experts still recommend against eating full-fat dairy, as do the official U.S. dietary guidelines.
But he adds that there is less debate among those like himself who research dairy fat. “Many scientists who study dairy fat and dairy foods have come to the realization that dairy fat isn’t harmful and may even be healthy,” says Mozaffarian.
He wrote a paper six years ago that looked at 16 studies around the world that measured the levels of blood biomarkers produced by consuming dairy products. “We found that higher levels of dairy fat biomarkers were significantly associated with lower risk of diabetes—a 20% to 30% lower risk,” he says.
Mozaffarian says that the scientific consensus on milk consumption will shift over the coming years, and he is confident that the dietary guidelines will be changed to reflect the growing body of research that has found dairy fat to be healthy.
During the 1970s, nutrition experts became increasingly concerned that consumption of saturated fat was leading to high cholesterol levels and heart disease. Saturated fat makes up a high share of dairy fat. So, as diet experts targeted saturated fat, it made sense that dairy fat would find itself in the crosshairs.
Now, researchers say that all saturated fat isn’t alike, and there may be factors that make dairy fat less worrisome. For starters, it comes with a milk fat globule membrane that changes how the body responds to saturated fats, says UCSF’s Krauss.
Fermented dairy products carry extra health benefits, research consistently finds. They contain probiotics that help the digestive system work better while boosting your immune system. Having the right bacteria in your digestive system has been theorized to help prevent everything from diabetes to dementia.
Fermentation also produces Vitamin K2, which studies have found both prevents diabetes and helps diabetics manage the disease, according to Mozaffarian.
Consuming dairy fat can raise levels of LDL cholesterol in your blood. But even here, there is some nuance, experts say. The most harmful type of LDL is the smaller particles; dairy appears to boost the production of the bigger-particle LDL.
“Dairy fat does raise LDL cholesterol,” Mozaffarian says. “It does so mostly by changing the size of the particles. Dairy fat also increases HDL cholesterol and lowers triglycerides.” HDL cholesterol is the so-called good cholesterol that is associated with a lower risk of heart disease, while high triglycerides are linked to a higher risk.
Mozaffarian says a bigger culprit in heart disease is the consumption of refined carbohydrates: “Compared with extra virgin olive oil or avocados or nuts, butter is a worse choice. But compared with the white bread you’re buttering, it’s probably a better choice.”

I agree that "in Germany your boss legally has to provide you with work while you're at your job" is a bit funny considering the German stereotype. But I am really annoyed at people who act like this is some horrible hypercapitalist thing on that post about pushing people out of their jobs by just not giving them anything to do. When really it's very basic worker protection (within the context of German emplyment law.) Because under most circumstances you can't just be fired from your job. Your employer has to provide a reason for firing you if they want to get rid of you. You also have a right to specifially the work you were hired to do.
So your boss having to give you appropriate work makes illegal any of the following:
a) Making you clean toilets instead of (or in addition to) the clearly defined office job you agreed to do
b) Not giving you work and then firing you for not doing your work
c) Waiting for you to crack under the intense boredom of having to stay on one place with absolutely nothing to do for eight hours a day while your coworkers are roped into it to shun you (or hate you because for some reason you're the only one who doesn't have to do any work) until you quit "voluntarily"
or d) waiting for you to crack under the aformentioned pressure until you do what the people in the notes said they'd do, like watching movies or doing a second job instead which is something you then can be reprimanded and fired for
#german blogging#german stuff#like law is complicated and i'm not an expert so don't treat this as a ~source~ or anything#but i'm annoyed by people not even considering there might be good reasons for things like this#also i have absolutely zero patience for making light of what's essentially quite an effective bullying tactic#which can really screw up your mental health

sometimes i forget most aro people are aro in the "dont/rarely feel romantic attraction" way because im aro in the "dont/rarely feel romantic attraction and also i think we need to restructure society and probably get rid of marriage" way and i'm deep in the trenches of Thinking about it that i forget that's not like the default position for most people not even for most aros
#text#[insert experts overestimating familiarity with their field xkcd here]#&inb4 ''so you think marriage (especially Gay Marriage) should be ILLEGAL?!'' not what i said#i just think theres no Logical reason we need to Completely tie two people together legally. especially considering how marriage has been#used to oppress women for Lots of years. it makes more sense to go by a case by case basis for stuff like decisionmaking in health crises#than it does to be like These people are Legally Bound Together and have to go to Court to get Unbound#You can still have a little ring the aros aren't taking away ur rings. you can still hang out with one (1) person ur whole life#but like fawkkkkk. do we really need the government to be involved in that?

Sirius is very much an unreliable narrator

#Once again i am not a mental health expert and do not have BPD everything I'm writing is based on the experience of people I know so it won#t be accurate to every experience#Sirius has quiet BPD which doesn't present itself like typical BPD and is easier to hide from others and yourself#it especially hasn't presented much with Sirius so far because so far her entire arc in this story has been one new event after another#which has triggered tons of dopamine for her and therefore kind of masked all of her symptoms#but it is there and has happened before as stated by Barty and Regulus#Most notable event is running away from her family and how she acted (to be revealed) when she first moved in with their uncle and how he#so it's kinda like Remus in the way that the symptoms were in fact there but were masked by the amount of events happening around them#until they were triggered#acted after their uncle's death#evan rosier#marauders era#james potter#jegulus#barty crouch jr#lily evans#dorcas meadowes#marlene mckinnon#mary macdonald#marylily#rosekiller#pandora rosier#remus lupin#wolfstar#regulus black#peter pettigrew#sirius black#soc med#dorlene#the marauders

Be very careful when you see things like this:
___________________________________
"Read this and save a life - YOUR OWN
From a surgical nurse and certified CPR teacher:
Please pause for 2 minutes and read this:"
____________________________________
(this was copied from a real post that crossed my dash, btw, and it had more than 100k notes)
Anyone can say they are a surgical nurse and certified CPR teacher... or they could talk to someone with those credentials but misunderstand the information.
the post went on in a numbered format to say this
______________________________________
"6. HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE? Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.
7. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.
8. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital."
________________________________________
instead of doing any of this, call 9-1-1
I mean try this after you call, sure, try anything, but this is probably not going to work. See number 8? that is not how human anatomy works, coughing does not squeeze the heart. Changes in pressure around the lungs from coughing instigate a change in blood pressure and also alter the electro-stimulus from the vagus nervous system between the heart and brain, and can give a minor tweak to the rhythm of an already beating heart
Since this coughing technique can provoke any change in heartbeat, it is a thing that sometimes, occasionally, can work in a hospital setting to correct a couple of very specific types of arrhythmia, which is a temporary abnormal heartbeat rhythm, not a heart attack. Basically if your lower ventricles start doing something like adding a tiny extra beat, a deep cough can sometimes get it to kick back into normal rhythm, but it is working on a heart that is beating almost correctly.
For this reason, in a hospital setting, a doctor may occasionally tell a patient to try this coughing to correct a couple of exact and minor heartbeat issues, again, for a patient with a known condition who has a slightly altered rhythm in a heart that is already beating.
Actual heart attacks are marked by wildly chaotic rhythms (or no rhythm) rendering this technique useless for heart attack 99.99% of the time. The thing about chaos is you never know what you’re going to get so if you’ve called 911 or attracted helpful attention, or have literally zero other options, go ahead and try this, but it’s almost certainly only going to help with something you were going to survive anyway.
CPR breaks ribs. That’s how hard you have to squeeze a heart to make it even sort of do its job. If a deep cough could squeeze your heart hard enough for this to work, then every time somebody had a coughing fit they’d risk heart failure.
But don't take my word for it. Look it up. Ask a person you know for a fact is a doctor (i did both before writing this, my father is a retired doctor of internal medicine and my mother is a retired ICU and ER nurse, which is why this kind of misinformation bothers me so much) but more relevant to most of you out there, i didn't even just take their word for it i also looked up the information. Personally i went ahead and looked up how coughing effects the vagus system, which counts as interesting reading for me, but you don't have to do a research project on it, literally just type it in a search bar and look for valid sources
but why would anyone ever make posts like this which are outright lies and also could be dangerous for people to believe?
the answer happens to be in the rest of the original post:
______________________________________________
9. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!
10. A cardiologist says If everyone who gets this mail kindly sends it to 10 people, you can bet that we’ll save at least one life.
11. Rather than sending jokes, please… contribute by forwarding this mail which can save a person’s life.
12. If this message comes around you… more than once… please don’t get irritated… You should instead, be happy that you have many friends who care about you & keeps reminding you how to deal with a Heart attack.
please take the time and boost this post by reposting it and sending it to those you love because we all need to understand how to quickly deal with heart attacks
_________________________________________________
That's why. Look at that. They want you to reblog this multiple times for them, and they tell you to do so 5 times in a row.
Bot accounts and view farmers can make money from getting high numbers of notes, views, or followers. They run their numbers up and then sell the account to entities that want access to the public for marketing or propaganda campaigns.
Random posts and video shorts are NOT the place to get important information. You may find important information in these places, but you won't know it until you check the source and look it up yourself. And if it contains information that could hurt people to believe if it's wrong... look into it a little before you share it

Africa's leading health experts have gathered in the capital of Botswana to discuss the potential for a worldwide pandemic. The mood is tense as the delegates consider the latest data on the outbreak of a new virus. Although there is no evidence that the virus has spread beyond Africa, the potential for a global pandemic is a very real possibility.

Health experts have always warned about the negative effects long-time smoking can cause to our bodies. However, despite these warnings, surveys in 2020-2021 showed that 11.5-12.5% of adults answered that they smoke cigarettes. A more alarming data is that smoking is one of the major causes of cardiovascular or heart disease. Moreover, the numbers show that 1 out of 5 smoke-related deaths is from heart disease. As providers of holistic medicine, we advise smokers to make the decision and commitment to quit smoking properly.
