here's something no one asked for, my ocs when they were a bit younger! :] (more like how they were in highschool lmfao) ((not aster tho sorry my king. u did not have a highschool.))

lune was a little shit, he's very rebellious now but he was even more rebellious when he was a teenager lmfao

he would CONSTANTLY get into fights, anyone that pissed him off he did not hesitate to attack

his relationship with his parents was already bad but it quickly deteriorated at this point in time

he was relatively popular in school but uh, everyone stayed away from him or tried to be on his good side because... well yk! didn't wanna get attacked..?

also people thought he was annoying but hey at least he was good looking!

he did not know he was popular btw. like at all, no idea, still doesn't know

his grades were like... okay, not great, but not bad, and he would skip class a lot... dumbass

his nails were constantly painted different colours bc cecilia would do them often, he was also never seen without a bracelet on his right wrist

he hasn't really changed since then lmao

cecilia:

she was a bit more reserved back in highschool, still nice and friendly but she had a hard time approaching others because she was nervous (and others found her a bit intimidating cause she didn't smile much) ((and she's related to lune and that guy was known for being crazy))

her and lune were known as "those rich twins"

was constantly stressing over lune because of how much he got in trouble it's not like their parents would do anything about it.

kept her hair long and undyed! she liked doing different things with her hair and would try out diffy styles a lot of the time

she liked having long hair, and randomly cut it off impulsively lmfao (3 am on a school night, she couldn't sleep and was like ok why not)

good student, wasn't always at school but she was doing well

you took it upon yourself to cut his hair because it was REALLY long when you first met him, he likes having his hair long though, mourned the loss of his two front strands (he will be growing them back.)

he didn't talk to you for a few days after you cut his hair for the first time, wasn't your fault... you accidentally cut off one of the front strands and had to cut the other off to make it even

fun fact about him, his eyes glow in the dark, it can be scary at times.

oh and his ears are expressive, dunno how that works but it does! and he also never goes a day without wearing earrings! he prefers the ones he came with but doesn't mind wearing whatever as long as he has earrings haha

LUNE -> CECILIA: my little sister <3 we are best buddies, i’d do anything for her, she was there with me in our hardest moments, i wouldn’t let anyone hurt her, and she wouldn’t let anyone hurt me, one of the only people i’ll listen to lmao (she’s kinda scary when she’s mad at me but it’s also kinda funny?) i like bothering her but she might kill me one day though. she hides herself a lot, i don’t know why, it’s always been like this. i wonder if it’s because of me..?

CECILIA -> LUNE: dawg you’re like two minutes older than me (won’t deny the best buddies comment) he’s a really good brother though… but tough to deal with, he’s always causing some sort of trouble, but uh, well. anyway, we’re basically best friends… his words, not mine (she’s lying) he’s crazy but he’s not a bad person..? <- would defend him with her life. he’s an interesting fella that’s for sure, i’ve known him my whole life but there’s always something new with him lmfao. sometimes he comes into my room to knock something over and then he leaves, what an odd guy.

LUNE -> NOX: cocky asshole. so annoying. go to hell already. and stay away from my sister, i don't want you plaguing her with your presence.

NOX -> LUNE: fuck you insane bastard, go die.

CECILIA -> NOX: he’s pretty sweet (??????) we’re really great friends! i didn't think we would become such good friends tbh, he didn't seem to be the social type, and i'm not very social either haha... we're pretty similar i think! i can't remember who approached who first but that's fine. also, this guy has one of the worst damn sleep schedules known to man, i worry for that man. also, him and lune hate each other, no idea why.

NOX -> CECILIA: she's a close friend, i don't usually like making friends cause they end up thinking i'm weird, i don't really care about that but... i'll admit, it's nice to have a friend. she acts really differently in front of other people than she does with me, i don't think she's realized though? it's like having a cat open up to you haha, so i won't say anything. i hate her brother though, pretentious dickhead.

CASSIAN -> CECILIA: we were kids when i met her and her brother? she’s nice… and a lot like me… we still talk, she’s a good friend, thanks for keeping me company… and thanks for not asking me too many questions either

CECILIA -> CASSIAN: oh! cass is a childhood friend! we met at some event, he’s changed a lot since then, but i guess we’re more alike now? he doesn’t come out of his house much anymore, but we still text often. sometimes i see him online really late... bro... please get some sleep.... anyway, i never got to know what happened with him, and he doesn't like talking about it either, i won't pry though, because i understand.

CASSIAN -> LUNE: he’s scary, but i guess he’s not that bad..? i talk to him too, we’re not the closest, but he’s still a friend, i text him sometimes, he’s crazier than before, he was fun to hang out with when we were young, not that i don't like him anymore, he's definitely... special

The seven deadly sins, ranked by how good of villains they make:

Pride - He'd be glad to know he's the king of sins. It helps that he's basically one of the original fatal flaws. The only real problem here is that self-aggrandizement doesn't suggest a clear design.

Envy - Resentment, obsession, and the desire to take from others. She's probably upset that she's not in first place. Being other-focused is great for a villain though.

Wrath - Simple but effective, if lacking in complexity, at least in a naïve implementation.

Greed - Similarly one-dimensional, but without the strong emotional component that wrath has.

Lust - The best part about a lust villain is how much interesting character design space is suggested by the concept, though I think Lust being sexy is kind of backwards, because lust is finding other things sexy, not being sexy.

Gluttony - As a villain, tends to just be kind of sad. You can do a vore thing, I guess, or tie in to overconsumption, but unless you do a lot of work, it's meh.

Sloth - Worthless and unmotivated, side character or comic relief only.

Might be a tangent but Genuinely i don't get why some characters have the nationalities that they do. [ not including charlie ]

Like, i don't understand why they made alastor creole because 1. White people can be allowed to practice voodoo as long as it's approved by someone who already practices it, and 2. It just makes so much of his whole deal with rosie in that one leak even more offensive than before he was said to be creole.

Same goes for nifty because she does not give any hints of being japanese???? I'm not saying they should go full out with her i just mean they could have at least given her like, a hairstyle or even small aspect of something she knows about like something from japanese culture that hints at her being japanese [ i even remember seeing a video where someone drew the characters as humans and nifty literally just looked like all the other white characters??? ]

Characters like husk and angel dust i can at least slightly excuse because they have SOME hints like the voice actor in the case of husk and one of angel's outfits in his case. Vaggie feels like a gray area because idk if the exorcists were made by adam or are human souls who joined the exorcist army so i don't have a clear opinion on her yet. And even with the villains only velvette is the one with a clear hint at how she probably looked as a human. Vox has no hints cuz he's a literal tv and valentino fluxuates his accent so much it's hard for me to tell if he's actually hispanic or if he's faking the accent.

It just feels like they could have either kept their nationalities a surprise for when we do see how they looked as a human through a backstory, or could have just changed half of them????

The funny thing about Niffty is that the Spindlehorse crew changed her skin. Originally it was tanish light yellow to completely white. Like you easily mistake Niffty as Charlie’s secret sister.

In real time, I’m now noticing they somewhat changed the color of her eye and her dress. Vaggie is supposed to be salvadoran like Vivziepop. Take that information as you will. Wouldn’t be surprised if she changed it.

Valentino is supposed to be Hispanic, as funny as the different accents are. He speaks Spanish here and there in the show and no it’s not fake 😂. Richard Horvitz’s voice directing Joel especially was booty cheeks.

Regarding Vox, the closest thing we know is that he was a cult leader during his time as a human and he has the worst fashion sense like the rest of the main cast.

Their nationalities is most likely a surprise. Once season 2 officially comes out, Twitter will bully the hell out of Vivziepop when once Alastor’s human design officially debuts. They are going to compare Alastor’s human form to his Karen cut demon form.

Watching Zenshu is interesting, because it's one of the those times I feel like I can really see the seams of a story in progress (and not drown in the immediate wash of frustration).

I feel like Natsuko's half-awesome, half-slapstick approach to problem-solving in Zenshu is based at least partly on her nerd/animator status (see: Serval Cat Mask), and partly on the knowledge that since the story is a tragedy, the only way out with everyone alive is to pull solutions from outside of the genre.

Like, regardless of her love for the original, Natsuko's suddenly gotten more than a front row seat to stuff going wrong, and decides fight-by-fight that the correct response is "Break The Scenario."

I was gonna say "superior firepower" but she does have a strong sense of proportionate response.

One of the key aspects of any tragedy is that it's tailor-made for the characters in it. To use a classic example, Hamlet would've overthought Iago's ruse until it all came out, where Othello might've gone "oh, sure" to the old king's ghost and whacked the murderer before any other deaths could take place. The story doesn't work without the specific people being faced with their specific downfalls.

Based on what we've seen so far, A Tale of Perishing is happy to kill the entire cast, but more specifically it's designed to kick Luke Braveheart's shonen hero ass straight across the Despair Event Horizon. Knock all his friends down like dominos so even if he wins, what was it all for?

It wasn't designed for Natsuko. This is true on several fronts since

her strengths and weaknesses as a person aren't who or what the tragedy was designed for

Now, this could change. Natsuko is having an appreciable impact across the entire setting. The Last City survives mostly unscathed because of her. She's already starting to lose track of when events are supposed to take place, because the scenario changes in turn.

But I think as long as she can think outside of the box and bring the hammer down, she'll be okay.

What to say about Robert and Claire Greensboro. Upper middle class, picket fence house. Rob works as an investor, Claire is a Wine Mom (re: functioning alcoholic in this case) and former beauty queen herself. Their marriage is more of an arrangement, Claire wanted a certain type of life, and Robert wanted a beautiful wife. They both desperately wanted a Boy, but ended up with Caroline (the irony here is outrageous.) When they have trouble keeping up with the Jones, and rack up credit card debt and take out a second mortgage on the house, they audition baby Caro for a tv commercial and what do ya know, there's something special about that kid afterall. Turns out that Caro is a winner automatically at so many things. Pageants, auditions, modeling contracts, and it only gets better the older Caro gets. They go from a disappointment to having a purpose, the ticket to funding their parents lifestyle.

Love just isnt on the menu here, but when Caro is young they do everything they can to try and win it. Their parents are both master manipulators, dangling the promise of happiness or love and yanking it out of reach when Caro doesn't do things just right. Its always something.

The only 'good' thing is when Caro gets a bit older. Their dad likes to go on fishing trips with his neighbor, O'Sullivan. And their mom has lovers, and is usually drunk, so it gets easier to sneak out and see Sully and the gang or do the normal things teenagers are supposed to do like hanging out with friends and going to the movies without it having to be earned. Obviously their parents are transphobic and homophobic, and they believe that Caro being trans will ruin their career, thus lose them their cash cow. They threaten many horrible solutions, but in the end, Caro leaves when they find out about a life insurance policy their parents took out on them, dollar signs are more important than their life and they aren't sure how far their parents will go to keep things the way they are.

Caros parent will show up later in life, of course they will, all apologies and offerings of love. Our hero has friends and found family now, fortunately, to support them, and are aware their parents love and acceptance is a thin veil for greed, they never expected Caro to make it this far, and now that they have, of course their parents want back in their life. These people unfortunately will probably never change.

Ya know, I’m looking at Simon’s hair right now and I’ve just realized that I have absolutely no idea when or why I started drawing him with more three-pieced bangs rather than the original straight cut ones lol.

He even has them like that in the manual doodles too. (Shout out to the shadows in this doodle making part of his hair look like it has raccoon stripes)

I’m thinking I probably saw how his hair angles towards one side and exaggerated it exponentially over time. But regardless, it realllyyyy ended up wildly different 💀💀💀.

I’ve been having a bit of an art crisis about it because while I think how I draw his hair right now is fun, sometimes it ends up so complicated and exaggerated that I can’t tell what to even do with it at most angles. Like it just kinda ends up this absolute mess of sharp lines and augh idk.

But at the same time I also have this really weird thing when I’m drawing characters where if for some reason I’ve drawn a character differently than before sometimes it’ll like not register to me as the same character and then feel super uncanny??? If that makes sense??? It’s funnily enough like the only reason why I don’t draw or post much art of Richter cause whenever I draw him it always just doesn’t look like him to me in the face especially idk it’s weird 💀💀💀

I tried to make is hair a bit more similar to the original, and the first one is nice but something feels kinda off about it to me, and the second one I combined aspects of how I usually draw him, but now he’s starting to look way more like Leon than intended so uhhhh idk, I’ll figure it out tho d(- - ;)

city rats dont normally have giant claws or edgy mary-sue eyes. shes an outlier, at least in that aspect. shes not an outlier in deciding to run away from home, or in having problems with her apprenticeship that ended in her mentor making a difficult choice, but she is an outlier in surviving that. no one else has had the title halfmint for at least a hundred years.

before she left, she was training to be a nurse. shes a pretty selfish person, but that comes with honesty, at least for her. those arent very desirable traits in someone with her training.
