you’re so right!!
the ridiculous thing about Sam and Dean is that they balance each other out in a way that i swear only siblings could.
“i pick Side A”
“then I pick Side B!”
no matter what the argument is. so like, “we should stay and finish this case” is a position either of them would conceivably have but if one picked that side the other would immediately devil’s advocate and they’d end up unnecessarily debating it 😂
i feel like if it was a longstanding serial killer sam would want to stay and dean would rightly call him out on the fact that he is nerding out over it and sam would deny it despite it being fully 100% true.
“we’re helping innocent victims - ”
“more like helping your serial killer fetish - “
“it is not a fetish - “
“better not be or this case is about to get real awkward”
but in contrast if kids were involved dean would 110% be the one advocating for staying and sam would debate on principle but not really fight it:
“i am going to kill this bastard - “
“dean, it’s not our kind of thing, we should leave it to the local law enforcement before we do any more damage to their evidence process - “
“evidence process? do you hear yourself? no, i’m taking this guy out myself.”
filed under episodes we deserved but never got
🤷‍♀️🤷🤷‍♂️
Omg please talk to me about Sam and Dean stumbling upon human cases!!! I remember once in like S10 or S11 Dean finds a case and Sam is like that’s not a case it’s just a mob hit. But like how many times do they get like, totally human murders faked to look supernatural. (I am. Possibly thinking about a handful of Criminal Minds episodes tbh.) But there’s something so fun about Sam and Dean being pretty badass on a mundane human level getting caught up with actual mundane human murder.
right??!
now i fully want to see a full story where they rock up to this strange case with all the hallmarks of being supernatural but figure out partway through that it's not -- it's a bizarre but ultimately mundane thing but there's still a killer on the loose and they have ingratiated themselves already with the local cops who are relying on them as the Expert and Knowledgeable FBI with All The Resources and there's this mini-crisis of "do we solve the case? do we skip town before this goes every more off the rails?"
cue debate about like, what info they have vs. the fact that none of it would hold up in court if/when they catch the killer anyway and whether they just take down the killer
(early seasons sam and dean wouldn't go there, but later seasons sees them killing people and while it doesn't fit their rules/codes i can see them debating the point and dean shrugging like "so we pop the bastard and get the hell out of dodge" and sam going "noooooo" all affronted)
this has to have happened like.... a couple times, right? over the years?
