I honestly think the only way James Gunn can fully sell me his new DC universe, is if he gives me WonderBat and GreenHawk. Like, those ships are the main reason I became obsessed with this comic universe, and I can't deny myself watching any content related to them.

I recall stories of the new gods trying to influence humanity- the gods of apokalips trying to corrupt and the gods of new genesis trying to inspire. Imagine Scott free trying to promote a philosophy by his relationship with barda.

Scott: join me brothers! Cast off the chains of toxic masculinity, and be not afraid to love a woman who could kick your ass!!

What ships would he try to encourage, and would that include robin/Starfire or beast boy/raven

The thing is, if you read the early fan letters about Barda--and so many fan letters ADORE Barda and they were honestly asking Kirby to give her her own series even back in like, 1971--guys loved Barda not just because she was big and buff and hot, but because she felt like women they knew in real life. She's this big scary Apokoliptian warrior but you still had readers swooning after her as "The girl next door" and not in a pinup way! In a "she reminds me of my friend's sister who I have a crush on" way! Cool and intimidating but also someone you feel like you can count on!!! A lot of people said the Scott/Barda relationship was inspired by Kirby's own marriage!! It's actually kind of hard to talk about the general warmth you feel from Barda's character to someone you know doesn't have the same comic brainrot as you, because it's very much a "you feel it as you read it" sort of thing.

But anyway I think Scott and Barda would be pro-TT relationships in general because, like, love was basically forbidden on Apokolips. They're both just glad to see the kids having the space to have messy, intense relationships!!

But also I think Scott would be very pro John/Shayera because "She shared something with you she has not shared with anyone else in 100 lifetimes. That's gotta be worth one lifetime of yours, right?" And Barda would be like "Scott? Don't make trouble." And Scott would be like, "I'm just saying she doesn't have to follow the rules for all of eternity!" And Barda would pick him up like "We're leaving. John, I'm sure you'll show good judgment on this," and Scott's shouting over Barda's shoulder as she carries him off, like, "It's a beautiful buff warrior woman, man! Don't fumble this!!"

an unpopular opinion: Hmmm. """fixing""" superman's powerlevel from the first 2 seasons to make him more powerful without also making the OTHER powered characters more powerful was stupid as hell. like everyone got debuffed for that show (Except for Bruce, who got buffed to an insane degree) and they were like. Superman fans complained so we got to fix him. But not fix everyone else???????

I'm rewatching justice league and I cant believe I didn't remember that we literally only got TWO EPISODES of green lantern and hawkgirl together before the big betrayal. Imo they should have put it off a bit for a bigger OOMF at hawkgirl's betrayal.
