The red/green discourse online is so ridiculous, because guess what? Real life just isn't like that. People who have obvious red flags are generally avoided, the dangerous ones can hide it. Fortunately for all of us, Red Flag PeopleTM are rare, what you are more likely to end up with is a Yellow Flag and it will still suck, just in a different way.

Take Pride & Prejudice, the Red Flag character, Mr. Wickham, is mistaken for a good guy by everyone, every single person except maybe Mr. Bennet. People who will end up being abusers don't usually look like that at first. They present a good image, they are a great dating partner, and then it gradually gets terrible. People don't just jump into bed with a Red Flag (generally).

Luckily, most of us aren't thrown a Red Flag, it's the Yellow Flagged Mr. Collins we might end up dating. There isn't anything specifically that wrong with him, except he'll probably never treat you exactly like an equal human being. He has some repulsive views about women, but they don't come up that often so it's easy to overlook. He's nice, he's not "vicious", you aren't worried for your safety, and yet, it will be a relationship that slowly corrodes your soul.

And the Green Flags? What about them? Maybe at first they make some mistakes. Maybe they aren't a Green Flag the second you meet them. Mr. Darcy needs to reflect on himself and grow. Elizabeth Bennet makes huge mistakes in judgment and changes too.

Elizabeth learns that it's better to withhold her judgment and keep an open mind until she has reliable sources. Red Flags aren't avoided and Green Flags aren't found by yourself, but by listening to your friends and family. Helen Graham in The Tenant of Wildfell Hall marries a Red Flag after being warned by the aunt who loves her. A crush blinds Elizabeth Bennet and it can blind you too.

What Jane Austen says again and again about people is that they may not be what they present on the surface. It's never as simple as flags.

FIZZ X OZZIE ARE TOO ADORABLE I CAN'T!!!!!!!!!

Helluva boss new episode has me squealing like crazy. Not only that but the songs from this episode were BANGING, I'm gonna be listening to Glitz and Glam song plus Fizz song on repeat XD. So happy FizzxOzzie were able to come out as a couple with no one judging them. This was hands-down the best episode of Helluva Boss (second best being Oops)

Being feminine is not enough. Having your own money is not enough. We have to learn how to VET men properly.

Vetting a man as a provider is one thing, but don’t forget to vet his character too.

Is he a good person?

Does he have good morals?

Does he have good character?

Is he respectful to you?

Does he care for others?

Is he emotionally mature?

We have to pay attention to red flags and green flags. We have to stop being desperate and rushing when in relationships. Low self esteem, fear and poor vetting is why women end up with these type of abusive men.

Women have to start dating smart!
