You had just returned from meeting Bongae Choi with Jake. After stopping for a quick meal, the two of you were walking down Big Deal’s street. 

You had known Jake since childhood, having grown up with him alongside Jerry. You had mutual respect for each other, and even if you weren’t much of a fighter, he knew you could handle yourself if need be.

Jake cleaned his teeth with a toothpick while you walked beside him, your phone out, trying to call Sinu Han, who wasn’t answering. It was starting to irritate you that he wasn’t answering, I mean he didn’t have much to do, so why wasn’t he answering you?

Ahead of you and Jake, you finally see Sinu, along with a very tall and muscular man. Dare you say, handsome? (You do dare). They seemed to be fighting, but that was the last thing on your mind. You first had to complain to Sinu about him not answering your phone calls.

“Sinu, why aren’t you answering your phone? Seriously Jake, we don’t have to bring him with us do we?” You exclaim, redirecting the last question towards the man beside you, who seems to ignore you.

“We were gonna get rice sou-, hey what’s with the vibes here?” Jake says, dropping the toothpick to the ground as the stranger comes up and hugs him before saying “Found you” in a deep gruff voice.

The stranger was way better looking up close. Yep, you do dare say handsome. The scene however confuses you. Did Jake know this guy? Why were they hugging? It didn’t make much sense because you knew all of Jake’s friends and this wasn’t one of them.

“Finally, the last one” A deep voice breaks through your train of thought. This stranger is now hugging Jake to his side, holding onto one of the gloves Jake’s father, Gapryong Kim, left him. 

“Huh, last one? You mean father’s glove” Jake questions the strange man. You pipe up, giving your two cents on what was happening.

“They are nice gloves Jake, you have to admit that” This leads the stranger to finally take note of you. He makes prolonged eye contact with you as he brings a smoking pipe and lighter to his lips, where a smirk forms. Wait…you know that lighter, it’s Jake’s mothers!

“She said she would give it to me if I didn’t kill her son. Your mom requested to not shed blood amongst relatives.”. Relatives? It all clicked, they didn’t look identical but there were some similarities. The hair, the nose, that jawline, this was Jake’s half-brother, Gitae Kim!

“I’m gonna ask you a question. If I don’t like your answer I’ll kill you” Gitae states, thickening the tension that was already in the air. He wouldn’t actually kill Jake, would he?

“What do you think of Gapryong Kim?”. After hearing the question, Jake grabs Gitae’s shirt collar and looks up at him. Jake is already a big guy, but Gitae is ridiculously huge. He could crush you with one hand if he wanted to. I can only hope that Gitae hates Gapryong Kim just as much as Jake. I don’t doubt his strength, but I doubt he could fight Gitae, the man was quite literally built differently.

You weren’t listening but soon see Gitae pickup Jake like he is a baby. Holy Shit! That is the only thought that crosses your mind at what you are witnessing. That and how good-looking Gitae is, but that isn’t important right now (or is it?). You heard the man say something in what you guessed to be Spanish before saying something that sent a chill down your spine.

“The only one among his children. I didn’t like any of the other guys.” It was starting to make sense. He had the lighter and pipe, and that shirt and hat looked familiar to you as well. Was he killing his father’s children and collecting the parts of his father that were left to them! 

As soon as he put Jake down on the ground, his attention turned back to you. You held your breath as he walked over and towered over you. You had kinda hoped he forgot about you, but also, the aura this man held interested you. You wanted to know more about him.

He held his hand out towards you before asking in probably the kindest tone he could muster, that still somehow sounded emotionless “Let me use your phone.”. Your body moved on its own, placing the phone you’ve been holding in your hand all this time into his.

You saw him typing in something before a phone rang out. He pulled it from out of his pocket and declined the call. Then he returns the call from his phone to your phone. After pocketing his phone, he began doing something else. When he turned the phone back around, it was on a new contact saved as ‘Gitae Kim’.

“I added myself to your contacts, so make sure you answer when I message or call.”. In a state of shock, all you could do was nod at this information. “What’s your name?” Gitae’s deep gruff voice says. Is it possible to fall in love with a man like this after what you just witnessed? Anything is possible I guess.

“(y/n) (l/n)”. A smirk places itself on Gitae’s face as he reaches down to take the hat off his waistband. You hear Sinu, who has moved next to you whisper ‘I thought he hated romance?’ before turning to look at you baffled. 

“I hope to see you later,” Gitae says before turning around and placing the hat on his head. “I haven’t had this much fun in ages, little brother.”. With that, he walked away, leaving you, Jake and Sinu in shock. As the three of you stood there, looking at Gitae walking into the distance, you couldn’t help but speak what was on your mind.

“Jake, your brother is kinda hot”

“(Y/N)!!!!”

I have to admit it is kinda hard to write an x reader for a character who hates romance. I did my best, even if the romance is barely there.

There are probably a million spelling errors but I just wanted to get this out there. Idk why but this man is the one I've decided to stan. Probably because I like Jake so much too lol.

one thing about ptj's writing that always leaves a bad taste in my mouth is sometimes i feel he doesn't completely grasp the issues of abuse and sexual trauma, mostly and majorly for the female characters, but the male characters too.

take for example mira getting sexually assaulted by the cult leader and camp instructor, zoe's transaction with logan, club vivi, vin'mom being raped and killed by the shaman, sujin being abused and preyed upon and sexually assaulted before getting beaten to death by taejin... ALL of this feels so catatonic, almost unnecessary in its cruelty. this is a horrible world no doubt. but whatever he inflicts to his female characters seems to be done purely for the sake of shock value, almost like an indelible grief or hurt or helplessness a MALE character has to overcome in his path to nirvana. it is never shown what the woman feels about her own violation, no impact of it can be seen on her own life before she dies or simply forgets and moves on (kinda telling of the author's attitude towards how victims ought to react...).

then lets talk about the male victims. daniel gets stalked, goo and gun and eli were all minors who trained under a man who unironically touches people's genitals and brags about doing so, olly gets raped, eli gets groomed (i will not argue here about this one), sinu is shown naked often with the woman who brainwashed him. not mentioned in the comic but should be pondered upon is the fact that jake and jiho were in juvenile prison, a place with alarmingly high rates of sex crimes. dg is an idol who deals with invasive fans (sasaengs in real life are legitimately terrifying). seongji and vin were the ritual vessels for a cult. but this aspect of their trauma gets completely brushed under the rug, as if even alluding to it would take away from their strength and uhhh, masculine nature.

With how well-raised you were, people often ask you who were your parents until they go pale once your finger points over to the group of delinquents wearings suits while looking so smug

You were theirs

Not in a possessive way, not in a “That noodle cup is mine” type of way, you were theirs as much as they were to you

You were theirs to provide for, to take care of, to love for 

At first, you were like a school project for big deal,  they thought it would be cool to babysit a 12 year old girl, back then it was all just for funsies

Sinu’s heart melted when you once hid inside his long black coat, giggling at how cool it was to see so many praises written on the inside of his coat

His softest smile would always appear for you, he likes the fact he’s vulnerable around you because it’s been so long of him constantly putting up a wall

He wants you to have high standards, for all the years he’s been your father figure, he gave you the utmost special treatment

Why settle for less when you have already experienced more, right?

One time, you called him “dad” as an accident in front of the whole crew, and before you could apologize, you grew silent when you saw the tears falling down his eyes

The whole crew was shocked, until they could only smile warmly when Sinu stood up to hug you

Playfights with him are always constant! 

With all the adults surrounding you, Jake was your closest brother figure, always engaging in your childishness of playing games and watching cartoons 

Both of you would always joke around, but he’s the one you talk to when it comes to serious topics, he isn’t all shy in telling you about the reality if this world, but he would always follow it up with a promise

”As harsh as the world may be, ya don’t have to worry, cuz you got me! Now don’t look so sad, you’re gonna look ugly when you grow up—Ouch!”

Jake would purposely say you are his “shorty little sister” to anyone who asks, despite the fact you two aren’t blood related

You have made him attached to you to the point he stole you away from big deal to stay with him instead, saying he’ll provide for you and buy whatever toys and dresses you want, just so you can stay

The type of brother to whisper you jokes while remaining stoic, looking all calm and collected while you try to stop laughing in a serious situation

He’s a wreck to himself but he would never let you sway down the wrong path like him, he knew you came from a gangster kind of life, but he is still strict

He’d let you see a gang fight after school(courtesy of Eugene, he finds you cute actually), but he would never let you hold a cigarette 

For most nights, he’d let his “strict big brother” go and let you hang out with him at a small bar, he even finds it amusing when you insist on getting him a beer that he likes

Either way, once you begin falling asleep, he’d pat your head before settling down to your eyes, acting as a blindfold to hide you from the bustling lights of the district(he carried u home dont worry)

“I can’t believe I brought you here with me, now I got to take care of ya, like a child… What are you, my baby sister? Tch, guess I can’t complain.”

There’s a weight. A wall. One that suffocates you. One that presses in on your chest, cuts off your air, and wraps around your neck like a vice.

Wanna feel something.

Mindless scratches pave the way for red skin, and a burning sensation begins to ignite. You feel choked up, at first unable to cry. Everything is weighing down, and the heaviness of it all is paralysing. The feeling of loneliness is so overwhelming at this moment. It’s painfully numb, yet achingly hard to bear. Wanna feel something.

Drawer.

Blade.

Sharp.

Wanna feel something.

You scour around, trying to find the object. Once it’s in your hands, you sit down on your bed to recollect your thoughts. The blade is pointed at your skin, glinting temptingly, and you try. You try to restrain yourself. Wanna feel something else.

A muffled choke escapes your lips, but your throat still feels as constricted as ever. The cold pricks at the already formed goosebumps, and all focus is between the object in your hand, and your skin.

A hand softly plants itself on your back, and suddenly, everything feels like it’s going to fall. The touch is gently, but it feels like betrayal. You don’t want him here. What you want to be more than anything right now when doing this, is alone. You don’t want to face the pity, the disappointment, the weight of someone else’s concern.

The man situates himself on the bed behind you, holding you so gently, so securely. He doesn’t pull the blade away, but instead, brushes rhythmic circles on the hand that holds it. You try to squirm away from him, but he’s reluctant.

“I love you,” he whispers, and you can feel the desperation in his being with the way his fingers twitch. Oh how he wants to pull the object away. How the current situation pangs his heart. How he wants to embrace you, spill whatever’s hurting you into him instead.

You want to scream, but like before, nothing comes out. Your shoulders begin to shake, your body convulses, muffled cries escape your mouth, and everything inside of you cracks wide open. They become uncontrollable.

The arms wrapped around you tighten, and the man holds you so you don’t fall into whatever bottomless dark pit threatens to swallow you.

“I’m here with you,” he whispers, his own voice threatening to break too.

You grasp desperately at his arms, letting go of the blade as it falls on the bed sheets. He leans his forehead on the nape of your neck and tosses it to the ground.

“I love you,” he says again, vulnerable and soft.

Someone’s here for you. Someone’s here with you. Someone’s willing to hold you, even when there’s too much hurt. Someone wants to feel your pain, to share it. Someone’s willing to hold your hand through all of this. Even if you feel lonely, you’re not alone. He’s here now, and he won’t ever leave.
