I am a firm believer that Aikawa was lying through his teeth the entire time he claimed not to remember being Kaiman. I humbly present my evidence for the council to review.

Yeah, he’s definitely avoiding her because he doesn’t know who she is. It’s definitely not because he’s afraid what happened to Risu is going to happen to Nikaido. Nope, definitely not.

And of course, there’s this. (And the scene where Fukuyama later wonders how he knew his name, but I forgot to get a pic of that) Yeah, Tanba and the rest are definitely the only people he remembers. Definitely has nothing to do with trying to protect his best friend.

One thing I kind of miss of Dorohedoro in Dai Dark is how realistically casual everything was, and I don't mean "oh they see a corpse and they don't care" I mean how Kaiman had a part-time job and got paid for it and how it affected his daily life, how he and Nikaido were known and beloved by people in Hole, how 13 was slowly added to the friend group, they had different type of relationship with each person with varying degrees of closeness, it's an aspect that it's not relevant to the plot but it's there and it truly makes the world feel alive. Hole's life went on and people were there even when Kaiman and Nikaido were gone, they were missed but they weren't irremplazable. I feel like Dai Dark lacks this feeling with the reduced cast and more "serious" plot and it saddens me a bit
